Working a nine-to-five job as a wage slave sure sucks. Which means that when you discover a fragment of an ancient life-giving alien artifact, it's time to clock out for the last time and launch a career as a super-villain! No? Well, Slo-Mo seems to think so.

This dishy dame's timepiece has the power to slow down machines, even stop 'em cold. In their tracks. Company halt. It even works on those annoying Autobots!
Amusingly enough, she seems to have a mutual attraction with the speedster Nanosec.

Slo-Mo first appeared on the scene as a mysterious benefactor who helped out several of Detroit's B-List Villains, saving them from capture by the Autobots with an Allspark-empowered timepiece. Gathering these three 'also-rans' at her former place of employment she introduced herself. Formerly a <s>carbon blob from Sector 7G</s> a production line worker, she one day discovered what would prove to be an AllSpark fragment mixed into the quartz crystals she fitted into clocks. When installed in a clock-like housing she found it slowed down all electronic and mechanical systems, from automobiles to automatons to Autobots. She realized this was a chance to make it big she set out on a career in crime, but had the sense to recognize she was an amateur at the game, and proposed that the gathered crooks could restyle themselves as a crime syndicate. She also revealed that it was her AllSpark-powered timepiece that had undone Nino Sexton's premature aging, and this favor seemed to kindle a potential relationship between the two.

The as yet unnamed syndicate's first bust quickly went south on them however when they became cornered not only by the Autobot Bumblebee (who was quickly defeated by Slo-Mo's timepiece) but also by the flesh-and-blood officers of the DPD. Fortunately, a disembodied voice quickly offered them the services of a nearby Sports Utility Vehicle as a getaway car, complete with 4-wheel-drive, inbuilt weaponry, and comfortable seating for four (complete with a booster-seat for Professor Princess). SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy
"A mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma, blindfolded" would be a charitable way to describe Swerve. He is the result of perhaps the most unusual toy release in the history of the franchise.
: Swerve transforms into a licensed Chevy Aveo. Any relationship he may have to Aveo and Sphinx should be totally coincidental, since Swerve is not part of the live-action movie toyline and doesn't match the design of the Aveo robot from the "Transformers: Rise of the Chevy Autobots" game. He has no gimmicks whatsoever, not even a non-firing weapon.

: On March 25th 2008, the Chevrolet online store began to offer Swerve as a "special featured item"... but only from its branches in Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates. Depending on the order location and currency conversion rates, he cost approximately $20~$30 before shipping. However, orders from customers in the United States were subject to a "processing" fee of over $50 and a "trans-Atlantic shipping fee" of almost $100(!).

: Less than two days later, the order page was taken down without explanation. By the end of the month, purchasers reported that their Swerves were indeed arriving.

: Whether Swerve will be made available again in other venues m-specifically, US-based onesm- is unknown.
Miscellaneous trivia
* Swerve has had an... interesting past. The Swerve toy surfaced on Asian auction websites in August 2007. Samples were packaged in polybags that had English text printed on them, and came with English instruction manuals. All "final" samples were the same red color; one specimen appeared to be yellow, but in fact had been hand-painted. The instructions lacked an "assortment number", leading to the conclusion it was an exclusive... but to what?
* Early reports throughout the fandom, tepidly verified by Hasbro sources, was that the mold's creation had been commissioned by Chevrolet for that company's exclusive use; neither Hasbro or TakaraTomy can use it in their own lines. This amounts to the first time that a "mainstream" Transformer mold (as opposed to things like Happy Meal toys which are obviously distinct from standard product and cost far less to design and produce) was created as an exclusive. The prevailing theory for the toy's existence was that it may have been comissioned as part of an advertising budget tax writeoff. "We spent X amount of money so we don't have to pay Y amount of taxes on our profits; thanks, Byzantine corporate tax laws!"
* It was actually unknown for quite a while if the toy would even be released at all. When the first samples turned up, rumors started circulating claiming that Swerve would be given away as a promotional item for the purchase of a real Chevrolet Aveo. Later, Ben Yee's calls to Chevrolet centers in the USA seemingly verified those rumors; however, he was apparently told that the promotional campaign had already occurred. Considering the lack not only of any sort of advertising for the campaign, but also of a single person who would confirm having acquired the toy in the aforementioned fashion in North America, this statement on behalf of Chevy appears more than dubious.
* Alternatively, some sources claimed the figure would only be made available upon test-driving a Chevy Aveo, while others even suggested that this campaign was exclusive to Chinese Chevrolet dealerships. Those rumors would never be verified either.
* We knew Chevy/General Motors had gotten close with Hasbro, but, damn.
Carlos Lopez is a typical kid. He goes to school, he likes to skateboard, he hangs around giant transforming alien robots, fantasizes about holographic dead girls, and happily propagates ethnic stereotypes.
:Voice Actor: Matt Hill (US), Yukie Maeda (Japan)

One day, Carlos and his best friend Rad went exploring into the caverns deep beneath the local observatory. Inside, they found the curious remains of a clearly artificial construction, seemingly far in advance of human technology. Rad discovered a glowing green pentagonal artifact half buried in the rubble, and against Carlos' advice, his friend was drawn towards the strange object. Touching it, the entire structure began to shake, suddenly springing to life as thousands of computers lit up the walls.

At home, Alexis felt the tremors and used her computer to pinpoint the epicenter of the apparent earthquake as the mountain caverns that Rad and Carlos were exploring. Similarly, the scientists and researchers at the observatory were baffled by the sudden movement of the Earth. As Rad and Carlos made their escape with the artifact, a bright light engulfed the chamber they were in, simultaneously shutting down all electronic equipment in Licoln, as well as emitting three distinctly coloured distress signals beams into the sky.

One beam, green, reached an ancient starship wreck on the dark side of the moon, causing it to fire hundreds of smaller beams of green light at the Earth. The two remaining signal beams, coloured red and purple, continued deep into space until it reached a cold, distant metal world.

Emerging from the cave with Rad, Carlos turned to see a huge glowing purple sphere of pulsating energy floating in mid-air, which soon solidified into a huge robot. This being was Megatron, supreme leader of the evil Decepticons. As he tried to take the object Rad had found, which had now revealed itself to be Highwire, a sought-after Mini-Con, suddenly another massive robot ordered Megatron to stand down. He was Optimus Prime, leader of the heroic Autobots. As the pair grappled, Rad mused that somehow this was all his fault. First Encounter

Carlos just happens to sound just like Ironhide and Beachhead in G.I. Joe: Spy Troops. He is also easily the most annoyingly petulant of the human children that befriend the Autobots.
In 2020, Carlos was posted on the Earth Federation's space station orbiting Mars. During a surprise attack by Alpha Quintesson's Terrorcons, he uttered the immortal phrase "Holy frijoles", thus proving he isn't a horrible ethnic stereotype.
Later, Hot Shot enquired about the attack, but Carlos was unable to provide any additional information. Cybertron City
Trivia
* According to the now-defunct TV Tokyo Micron Legend website, Carlos was 12 years old at the start of Armada. The page also stated that he is good at sports, loves rap and skateboarding, and has been friends with Rad since kindergarten.

* According to the Reader's Digest Transformers Armada Official Guidebook, Carlos was ten years old at the start of Armada. It also specified that he enjoyed hip-hop, and that while he was not a great student, he was an excellent mechanic. Although this particular bit of his character didn't make it into the animated series, it was an important part of his role in the Dreamwave comics.
