The simply titled Transformers was released in 2004 for Sony's Playstation 2, developed by Melbourne House, and released by Atari. It is loosely based on the Armada series.

In it, players take control of one of three Autobots (Optimus Prime, Red Alert or Hot Shot) to battle Megatron and his vast army of Decepticlones over the recently discovered Minicons on Earth.

Decepticons who appear in the game include Megatron, Starscream, Cyclonus and Tidal Wave.

As well as allowing players to transform into vehicles whenever they wished, the game's Minicon collecting idea had every Minicon being a different weapon or ability. This gave the game an almost Pokemon-style "Gotta Catch Them All!" feel. Different combinations also had different effects and using more and more of the same colour at the same time powered up the player further than each Mini-con's separate ability. As well as Minicons, players could collect Datacons, that unlocked Extras, like "And Knowing is Half the Battle" Educational Transformer shorts.

Another thing that was impressive about the game was that each level was a massive detailled environment, rather than short linear maps. Players could go back to these levels later to discover more areas using their newly collected Minicons.

The game was well received by critics and fans alike, and is often considered to be the best of all Transformers video games. The only prevalent complaints being the disappointingly small roster of characters and sometimes stiff control.
That's pretty much what I meant, I think it was a combination of needing a common killable mea-no wait, Metal Bag.
I read it in various previews in magazines at the time approaching the games release. I admit I was slightly confused when I played the game and found the Bosses apparently dying too, when I had read that they hadn't been allowed to kill the named Transformers in that article. I assumed it meant Freely kill. Mind you, it does kinda ruin the flow the series, since Cyclonus and Tidelwave were both in the next series. <shurgs> Cool game though, but way too short.

From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.

Point.
Maybe I should have said "Second in Command of the Forces on Earth". Also, when Megatron fell in the movie, it was He, and not Shockwave, who took command. But you're right, I'm not sure if it is ever actually stated, or in fact correct.

----
Yeah, Everyone assumes that Ol' Mr. Screamy is the second in command, but I'm pretty sure that that is only based on the fact that he gets the most screen time (as he should, because he's the best Decepticon).

Actually, we never see Starscream enter that battle, its just we see them arguing over it, and then when we're back on Cybertron, Starscream is the victor, thou we never even saw him make his stake in the previous scene. Sounds more like he waited for everyone else to beat the ever loving poop out of each other, then beat the remaining love out of an already injured candidate... G1 Cartoon Starscream never did anything that didn't make him look like an fool. And his voice never helped. However, Energon and Galaxy Force Starscreams. Particually Galaxy Force. You can see he's planning it all out carefully, trying to wait until Master Megatron slips just enough for him to take over. And He could do so too. Never seen what Starscream was like in the comics though. How was he there?

----
Considerably whinier then he was in the G1 cartoon. Though he DID attain near-Godhood for a brief time (thanks to the vast powers of the Underbase), during which time he pretty well destroyed both sides of the war. Then he got greedy, took more power and it blew him up. Inexplicably, despite being pivotal in the near extinction of his own race, Megatron decided to revive Starscream with Pretender technology.

Meg's never was very bright.

Decepticlones are the common enemies in the Transformers (PS2) video game. Their exact origin is unrevealed though the course of the game. Their Real Life Origin is that the Game Creaters were not allowed to kill Named Transformers so freely, so needed a common enemy for players to blast to bits on a regular basis. I also noticed they seem to be being added to the Attacktix line, as they looked in the game.

Decepticlones are largely autonomous and display no individual intellect. Also, most Clones show signs of transforming in the course of the game. Due to their sheer number, they have allowed Megatron to nearly conquer all of Cybertron!

Decepticlone Classes
*Light Unit:
Small purple 'clones. Due to their small size and limited combat potential, they are typically used for manual labor.

*Medium Unit:
Larger orange units. They make up the vast bulk of the Decepticlone attack force.

*Heavy Unit:
Massive red clones. They are few in number, but staggeringly powerful. Armed with a wide variety of weapons.

*Command Unit:
Medium sized, flying, silver units. They often appear in groups of 2 or 3. Their increased mobility makes them dangerous enemies.

*Spider Tank:
Every video game needs a giant spider. Spider Tanks are heavilly armored and carry a powerful laser cannon.

*Guerilla Units:
Large, gorilla-shaped 'clones. They carry EMP cannons which can short out weapons, and have advanced hand-to-hand combat skills. Some even have stealth fields.

*Rollarm Units:
The only Decepticlone type capable of transformation, they convert into rolling wheels to cover great distances at high speed.

*Jet Snipers/Jet Lasers:
These flying Decepticlones have two different attack patterns. The Jet Lasers patrol areas in squads while hovering, while the Jet Snipers sit and wait for targets to cross their infra-red beams, then attack.

*Artillery Units:
Essentially hovertanks that are designed to lob high explosilves far distances. The lack short-range weapons, but have inpenetrable shields should enemies get too close.

*Sentry Drones:
Small floating obs that keep an eye out for Autobots and raise alarms upon contact. They are very lightly armed, but fast.

*Drop Ships:
Large flying ships. They carry no weapons, but can produce other Decepticlone soldiers if alerted. They have tremendous defensive power.

Also, didn't he get the title of Leadership because he beat the ever loving crap out of all the other Decepticons?--Octopus Prime- King of the Road! 00:04, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.

Starscream is the treacherous Decepticon Air Commander. He's famous not only for his incredible skill, but also for his limitless (and troublesome) ambition. Starscream believes that he is more suited for command than Decepticon Leader Megatron. Thankfully for Megatron, Starscream's mutinous, powergrabbing plots are almost always transparent. Despite his constant failures, Starscream believes it is only a matter of time before he prevails -- his destiny is inevitable.

Unlike most Transformers, he has a mutant, indestructable Spark. His lifeforce cannot be destroyed and can persist even without a body to contain it.

Bio: Seeks to replace Megatron as leader. Ruthless, cold-blooded, cruel... considers himself the most sophisticated and handsome of Decepticons. Believes Decepticons should rely more on guile and speed rather than brute force to defeat Autobots. Fastest flyer of group, can reach Mach 2.8 and an altitude of 52 miles. Shoots cluster bombs and null-rays which disrupts the flow of electricity. Very good at what he does, but sometimes overrates himself.

Animated Continuity
--Generation 1--

Starscream was Megatron's Second-in-Command, for some reason. He was rash, boastful, cowardly, and even whiney. His actions before thought led to the resurrection of the Autobots on Earth, when his blast to trap the Autobots there forever, caused Optimus Prime to fall into the life giving rays of Teletran-1, who soon had all his fellow autobots ready for action again. Starscream would always demand action over planning, often calling Megatron a Coward or taking action himself without waiting for the order, thus provoking Megatron to give him a blast or whack.

Starscream's status probably came from the fact he had command over the other Jet Fighter Decipticons, which formed pretty much 50% of the entire Decipticon force at the time of Seasons 1&2.

Starscream's Ambition was also great, and often sought to take command away from Megatron. One such attempt was to challenge him to a duel, and shoot him in the back when he turned away laughing (or similar, my Memory is not exact, and my TV isn't working, and my PC is set to a different region). His "Victory" here was short lived, as Megatron was just stunned, shot Starscream, and Banished him from his forces. This led Starscream to "create" the combaticons, from a bunch of wrecked army vehicles he found on the island he was deserted on, and some Decipticon "Brains" he stole from the Decipticon Prison. Megatron let him, and his newly formed "army" back into the Decipticons soon afterwards, despite the fact they were all Decipticon outcasts and criminals.

Starscream's thirst for leadership led to his Death in the Movie, when assuming Megatron to be Gone for Good after he tossed him out of Astrotrain, he came back during his crowning as the more powerful than ever Galvatron, and blasted him into dust.

This was not the end, however, as his ghost came back, with "cunning" schemes. First he possessed Cyclonus, and handed Galvatron over to Rodimus. Rodmius didn't kill or even imprison Galvatron however, and he came back angered, and shot his Second in Command, not realising he had not been himself. Starscream had already found a new host in Scourge by this time, whom he used in his next "Master Plan". This one involved making deals with Unicron, who requested Starscream help him find new body parts, in return for a new body for himself. Starscream followed his orders exactly, until his host ran off before his could connect Unicron's head to Cybertron as a new body. This is where Starscream showed his "True Cunning", stating that if Unicron wanted him to connect him to his new Planet, he would have to give him his new body first. Unicron did so, repeating his request to finish connecting his head to his new body, however Starscream turned on him immediately, telling him mockingly to do it himself. At this point, the autobots set off a load of explosives, unaware of these turn of events, that sent Starscream, in his new body, spinning out of control through space, past Galvatron and his crew (Galvatron took this chance to fire at what he thought was a ghost), and never to be seen again.... Well almost never apparently...
One last thing to note is Cyclonus's line after our last glimpse of Starscream. (I can't remember it exactly, so someone correct this please?)
"Hey, since when have ghosts spun out of control through space?"

Beast Wars
Starscream's ghost appeared in the Season 1 episode Possession, where he possesses Waspinator's body. True to form, he and Blackarachnia attempt to wrest control of the Predacons from Megatron. He is ultimately betrayed by Blackarachnia.
