The Decepticon [[Emperor of Destruction]], he bears a bitter grudge against [[Autobot]] [[Supreme Commander]], [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]]. He prefers to lead his warriors from a distance, though engages in battle when necessary. Much like a Bond villain, he'll gladly tell you his plan before leaving you unsupervised in a delayed-result death trap. That said, he is ferociously powerful, and has come disturbingly close to victory on several occasions. He even pulled the trigger in an attack that would have killed a helpless Star Saber, only to find he'd transfered too much energy to his fortress and the damn gun didn't work. The guns designer was later found impaled on a church spire.

He commands the [[Decepticon Space City]]. Deathsaurus is a [[Breastforce]] warrior, meaning he has two detachable breastplates which can transform into the [[Tigerbreast]] and [[Eaglebreast]], respectively.

Years ago, striving to become the Decepticons' new [[Emperor of Destruction]], Deathsaurus created a gigantic battle fortress capable of destroying planets, but an attack by the young [[Autobot]] commander [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]] saw the fortress de-powered and trapped within a region of space known as the [[Dark Nebula]]. This began the enmity between Star Saber and Deathsaurus, and as both combatants rose through the ranks of their respective armies, Deathsaurus vowed to eventually liberate his fortress and use it to destroy Star Saber.

After the conclusion of the [[Masterforce|Masterforce war]] on Earth, Deathsaurus set his sights on the planet's vast energy sources, and, from his command post on the Decepticons' starcraft the [[Thunder Arrow]], he directed his troops, the [[Breastforce]] and [[Dinoforce]] in attacks on the planet. Deathsaurus rarely dirtied his own hands, entering battle only rarely, and only when there was a chance that he could confront Star Saber directly, such as there was when he led the Breastforce in raiding the electical energy of American subway systems. This led him to be the object of great contempt from Breastforce sub-leader [[Leozack]], who schemed against Deathsaurus, but systematically failed to succeed in his numerous ploys, either as a result of his own incompetence or the counter-scheming of his subordinate, [[Hellbat]], who sought to overthrow both him and Deathsaurus. Deathsaurus was no fool, however, and remained perpetually aware of Leozack's plans - when the time came, he thrashed the Breastforcer in combat and forced him to swear utter loyalty to him.

While Star Saber was on the planet [[Micro]], Deathsaurus returned to the Dark Nebula to investigate the possibility of reactivating his fortress; he did not have enough energy, but was at least able to confirm that the fortress was in functional order and could be reactivated when the time came. Unfortunately for him, having expended what energy he had to confirm this, he was unable to finish Star Saber when he engaged him in battle in space on the return trip. Later, back on Earth, Deathsaurus lured Star Saber into a trap in the desert, where he attacked with the power of the Living Metal-Destroying Cannon.

The weapon almost finished Star Saber off until [[Ginrai|God Ginrai]] intervened and was left at death's door instead, but when he was reconstructed as [[Victory Leo]] and combined with Star Saber to form [[Victory Saber]], they were able to thwart Deathsaurus's plan to bombard Earth with asteroids.

Discovering that the sunken continent of [[Atlantis]] contained enough raw energy to re-energise his fortress, Deathsaurus ransacked the ancient ruins and abandoned the Dinosaur Force to their fate as the Thunder Arrow shot off into space to fulfil his evil plan. With the fortress active and headed directly for Earth, even Victory Saber could not stand up to its power, but a resentful Dinosaur Force supplied information on the fortress's weak spot to Star Saber's adopted human son, [[Jan]], who used his own [[Illumina II|personal mech]] to enter the fortress and strike and this vulnerability. As he did so, Deathsaurus and Star Saber engaged in a vicious battle, during which Deathsaurus lost an eye, and was eventually stopped when Star Saber broke his sword off in the villain's chest. Gushing fuel and fluid, Deathsaurus vowed to have the last laugh as he set the crippled fortress on a collision course with Earth, and blew himself out an airlock, vowing to return again and again. But, as his body drifted off into space, no sign of life was visible from the conquered emperor. Victory Saber subsequently destroyed the fortress, but Deathsaurus was not heard from again.

As a parallel to Star Saber's adoption of [[Jan Minakaze|Jan]], Deathsaurus had a "son" of his own, a human boy named [[Solon]]. Solon's mother was killed during a Decepticon attack on Earth, and who Deathsaurus "adopted", turning him into a cyborg and raising him to believe that he was his son. Solon had frequent clashes with Jan, whose school he began attending, which often degenerated into "my dad can beat up your dad"-style arguments as their "fathers" battled. At one point, Deathsaurus even attempted to bribe Jan into joining the Decepticons with toys, games, candy and cash.

Solon had his own battle armour and often rode Deathsaurus's Breastars as steeds, but when Victory Leo and Star Saber merged into Victory Saber, Deathsaurus sought a way to increase his own power in a similar fashion and crafted a Transformer-sized mech for Solon named [[King Solon]], with which he was able to combine, forming [[King Zaras]]. However, in the midst of this battle, Solon discovered the truth about his mother, and his distraction allowed Victory Saber to destroy the King Solon mecha. Deathsaurus fled, abandoning Solon, who accepted his earthly heritage and joined the Autobots.

During the final battle, as Deathsaurus's fortress attacks the Earth, it is he who battles Star Saber in space ''(unlike the animated series, in which Liokaiser takes this role)''. Leozack, then, is able to take his treachery to the ultimate extreme by turning the fortress's power on Deathsaurus, and Deathsaurus cripples the craft with his cannon as Star Saber takes Leozack down. Then, the wounded Deathsaurus reveals the true reason he has quested to liberate the fortress from the Dark Nebula - it is home to the Decepticons' families and civilians. As the shocked Autobots discover this, they meet Deathsaurus's wife, [[Esmeryl]] and Deathsaurus and Star Saber then make peace, shaking hands and vowing to work together for the betterment of the Transformer race.

After the first batch of [[Virulent Clone|clones]] was completed, his operation was interrupted by a team of [[Autobot]] commandos under the command of [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]]. Deathsaurus overpowered and captured the first wave himself, and soon faced Ironhide one-on-one, while [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] attempted to rescue the fallen Autobots. Due to the assistance of Tripredacus Agent [[Flamewar]], these two were defeated and captured as well.

They woke up bound inside Deathsaurus' clone lab. The Emperor of Destruction appeared on a television screen, declaring that his use for the lab was completed and was prepared to detonate it remotely with the Autobots inside. Unfortunately for Deathsaurus, the Autobot espionage agent [[Ricochet (Timelines)|Ricochet]] not only freed the Autobots before the explosion occurred, but also seeded the remaining clones with a virus, leaving Deathsaurus with nothing to show for his work.

Four million years later, the Transformers were reawakened by the eruption of the volcano the Ark had crashed in and reformatted by Teletraan-1. On Earth, Prowl continued to serve as [[Optimus Prime]]'s right hand man, filling the role of military advisor and strategist. During an attack against Decepticons, Prowl's battle computer was knocked offline by a particularly fierce blow. Crippled, Prowl extended his antenna to seek out an online computer that he could patch into. Prowl was an Autobot from [[Praxus]]. After the death of Sentinel Prime, [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] called him, [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]], and others to the ruins of Praxus, where he declared that if the new [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] was insufficient, they would take control of the Autobot military. Prowl was present at the ceremony when Optronix became Optimus Prime, and was restrained by Grimlock when Prime was attacked. Prowl became Optimus Prime's [[Sub-Commander|immediate subordinate]] and advisor. When Optimus ordered a planetary evacuation, Prowl told Prime that there were many voices raised in opposition against it. Prime asked if Prowl's own voice was raised in opposition, but he did not reply. The planetary turbines were activated by Megatron, and Prime left to investigate. As [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] lead an assault on Iacon, Prowl and Jazz lead the defense, and Prowl sent out an order to all Autobots outside Iacon to regroup and dig in elsewhere. Prowl was one of many Transformers under the control of rogue government engineer-turned-arms dealer [[Adam Rook]]. He, along with several Autobots and Decepticons, attacked the Smitco Oil Refinery Artic facilty during Rook's sales demonstration to several terrorist organizations. As part of his deal with Unicron to ensure their mutual resurrection, the ghost of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] possessed [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and invaded Metroplex, stealing the giant robot's optical units. Metroplex transformed to robot mode in the midst of the attack, and, discovering that he was blind, went into a maddened rage, firing upon all the Transformers in the vicinity before a photon charge placed in his head by Scourge detonated, knocking him out. In the fight, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was mortally wounded and passed the [[Matrix]] of Leadership on to Ultra Magnus, making Magnus the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots.

Autobot City was quickly attacked a second time by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], the upgraded version of [[Megatron (G1)| Megatron]]. Ultra Magnus lured him away on his shuttle, but was eventually shot-down onto the [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]]. Galvatron tracked him there and Ultra Magnus managed to draw him away from the other Autobots to face the enemy alone. After Prime got the answers he needed from [[Vector Sigma]], he decided to go to [[Nebulos]] and left Ultra Magnus in charge of Cybertron. {{Storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

Ultra Magnus' tenure didn't go very well, as the selfsame massive Decepticon assault force was attacking the planet. Nonetheless, he and the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobot]]s struck at Galvatron, and may well have done him in if [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]'s reinforcements hadn't arrived. Magnus then ignominiously had his [[power pack]] torn out and slowly began to die from lack of energon. Still, he was able to relay Galvatron's crazed scheme to Optimus Prime and the Autobot [[Headmaster]]s before blacking out.

He was finally done in by Sixshot's mysterious 7th transformation, "Wingwolf". After his death, Ultra Magnus was placed in a coffin and buried on Earth, the planet he loved so dearly.

After his death at the hands of Sixshot, Ultra Magnus was allowed entry into the Matrix of Leadership, as he was it’s bearer for a brief time. But Ultra Magnus’ spark still was still restless, he knew he didn’t belong. Using the Cosmic Awareness that accompanies joining the Matrix to spy on the mortal relm, Ultra Magnus learned, by chance of Galvatron II and his massive [[Warworld|Mobile Battle Fortress]] putting the Galaxy at Risk. Determined to set things right, Magnus contacted Optimus Prime via their shared link to the Matrix, and resurrected himself in a similar body using Prime’s [[Reconfiguration Matrix]]. Ultra Magnus immediately set out to counter Galvatron II’s invasion and started raising forces of his own. On at least one occasion Ultra Magnus was so thoroughly trounced by Galvatron and his endless puns that he required saving by Optimus Prime in his new [[Black Body]].

In this new form Ultra Magnus is able to switch between various body types (including his original) at will, similar to Optimus Prime, thanks to his contact with the Reconfiguration Matrix. In addition, he is able to tap into his [[Laser Core]] to power his blaster and sword.

Ultra Magnus came from Cybertron to take over leadership of the Autobots after Optimus Prime disappeared. He is opposed by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] as Decpticon leader and this is presented as a prolonged status quo rather than the rather brief version of this scenario presented in the animated continuity. Furthermore [[Spike Witwicky]] appears to still be a teenager at this point, making a setting date of 2005 unlikely.

A serious complication arose when the Matrix Flame, the sacred and eternal blaze linked directly to the [[Matrix of Leadership|Creation Matrix]] itself, suddenly extinguished. Fearing that something catastrophic had occurred on Earth to the Matrix and its bearer, Optimus Prime, Emirate Xaaron made the decision to send Ultra Magnus to that planet to investigate, even though Operation Volcano was unstoppably set to begin in ten cycles. Magnus traveled to Earth by way of [[Space Bridge]], and found the Ark's crew engaged in a deadly conflict with three new, yet unspeakably powerful, Decepticon warriors just as their leaders Optimus Prime, [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], and [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] vanished before their optic sensors. Initially concerned only with his investigation of Prime's sudden disappearance, Ultra Magnus ignored the plight of his fellow Autobots until he learned the two situations were linked; [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and his lieutenants were time-travelers from 2006, having employed a mass-substitution mechanism that sent the three Autobots into limbo in order to accommodate their presence at this point in the timeline. This connection was revealed to him by three Autobots from 2006, who had traveled back in time themselves in order to stop Galvatron. They had a plan; they had the means; all they needed was for Ultra Magnus to keep him busy for, oh...an hour or two.

Easier said than done.

Magnus's battle with Galvatron carried them out of the isolated wilderness and onto a human freeway system. It ended when Ultra Magnus threw a tanker truck full of fuel into the path of Galvatron's particle cannon. Galvatron walked away from the blast -- Magnus didn't. Still, the future Autobots succeeded in tricking Galvatron into returning to the future with his plan incomplete, and the timeline more-or-less preserved. Unfortunately, Magnus was out of time: Operation Volcano proceeded without him, with disastrous results. Only one Decepticon was taken out, and the Wreckers' leader Impactor was killed protecting Xaaron. {{Storylink|Target 2006}}

Ultra Magnus would not meet his counterpart, Optimus Prime, until Prime was inadvertently transported back to Cybertron in battle with Megatron. Hooking up with [[Straxus|Lord Straxus]] at [[Polyhex]], [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] quickly disseminated false information about a new Decepticon made over to look exactly like Optimus Prime, planning to infiltrate the Autobot forces. Having temporarily assumed control of the Wreckers until their new leader, [[Springer]], was ready for command, Ultra Magnus led them in hunting down the "impostor". This Prime's behavior led Magnus to be suspicious of his information and, after summoning Emirate Xaaron, confirmed his suspicions and welcomed the true Optimus Prime back to Cybertron. Prime wasted no time leading Magnus and the others on a series of successful raids and strike missions against Decepticon-controlled territory. When Optimus decided to return home to Earth, however, Ultra Magnus was caught up in the space bridge's energy discharge as well, arriving on Earth but some considerable distance away from where Prime materialized. Having been frustrated ever since Impactor's death, Magnus welcomed the "vacation" this trip to Earth would provide him, as he took his time trying to track down the Ark's location.

For months, Ultra Magnus enjoyed a peaceful life in the American forests and wilderness, alone with his thoughts. A sudden seismic disturbance brought him back to reality, though, and into contact with three human females whose vehicle had been overturned by the tremor. One in particular, Cindy, took quite a liking to Magnus. As they traveled together to explore a nearby volcano and its connection to the tremors, Magnus was forced back into combat thanks to the arrival of his old sparring partner, the future Decepticon known as Galvatron. Galvatron had constructed a magma siphon atop the volcano's peak, and planned to convert the raw power of a volcanic eruption into enough energy to transform him into a god. Ultra Magnus teamed up with several Autobots from the future, who were trying to bring Galvatron back with them to face justice. Once again, Magnus was used as a "distraction" (read: living punching bag) while the future Autobots set up their plan to override Galvatron's time-jump mechanism and send them all back where they came from. Despite Ultra Magnus successfully getting the slag beat out of him, the override proved unsuccessful, sending only the Autobots back to 2007 and leaving Magnus virtually alone to deal with the fighting-mad Galvatron. Barely managing to rally his courage, Ultra Magnus threw himself into combat with Galvatron one more time, keeping him busy until the volcano exploded, destroying the power siphon and encasing both warriors in molten lava.

Several months later, Ultra Magnus was dug out of the volcano by the [[Sparkabot|Sparkler Mini-Bots]]. They had been sent to Earth by Springer to monitor the volcano in case Galvatron ever got free. When Galvatron DID free himself several days earlier, though, they found themselves hopelessly outmatched, and hoped Magnus would have better luck. Sadly, the severe beatings Galvatron had routinely handed out to Ultra Magnus, combined with the final excruciating submergence in molten lava, had nearly unhinged the Autobot's mind, leaving him with a pathological fear of his tormentor. Confronted with Galvatron, Magnus would probably have gone fetal if that pose had any meaning for his people. As the Sparklers heroically tried to stand up to Galvatron anyway, Ultra Magnus saw his rescuers in grave danger and finally managed to push his fear aside and reclaim enough confidence to batter the Decepticon into a temporary retreat. {{Storylink|Salvage!}}

Having renewed his fighting spirit, Ultra Magnus arranged to return to Cybertron with his companions in order to report on Galvatron's activities and hopefully gather the Wreckers for a counter-offensive. Instead, they found the Autobot base in Kalis full of battle signs, and the entire surrounding city-state a virtual "ghost-town". After confronting a legion of robot zombies, the Autobots eventually learned that a crazed scientist named [[Flame (UK comic)|Flame]] was trying to re-engineer the entire planet as a giant spacecraft, setting off an unstable fusion reactor beneath the planet's surface as a power source. With the help of the Wreckers and the Decepticons [[Flywheels]] and [[Trypticon]], Ultra Magnus and his team managed to put an end to Flame's maniacal scheme.

Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers then began preparations to return to Earth and confront the threat of Galvatron, finally, once and for all, and then...*poof*. The Wreckers went to Earth alone, and Ultra Magnus was never seen nor heard from again.

However he was eventually able to overcome his own fear and take a role of leadership. Together with [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], he was on the verge of ending the war when Megatron arrived and enslaved the plane with the [[Aerospace Extermination Squadron]]. Years later, Ultra Magnus and Shockwave worked together to replenish their armies in the [[Little Iacon]] incident. Many of the [[Micromasters]] created resented Ultra Magnus for bringing him into their war. {{storylink|Micromasters (comic)}}

Ultra Magnus' concept has been tweaked somewhat to fit within Simon Furman's Cold War-influenced G1 reboot continuity; although still a soldier, Magnus' role is similar to that of an Interpol officer. Specifically, he is an agent of the Tyrest Accord. Although never detailed, this Accord seems to be part of a greater Code of Interplanetary Conflict, some form of treaty between Autobots, Decepticons and other alien races. As an enforcer of the Accord, Magnus hunts down any Transformers, Autobots or Decepticons alike, who illegally sell or distribute Cybertronian technology, handing them over to their superiors for prosecution.

One such violation saw Magnus pursue [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]] to the planet Zull. After arresting the Combaticon, Magnus reluctantly released Swindle in exchange for the current whereabouts of an even greater offender: [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]. Magnus has a personal grudge against Scorponok, who is the Autobot's polar opposite; while Magnus sets great stock in rules, Scorponok flouts them. Magnus follows Swindle's lead to the planet [[Nebulos]], but although he disrupts Scorponok's operations, the Decepticon is able to escape.

Later on, Magnus arrests Swindle for yet anohter violation, and once again, Swindle offers a deal, leaving Magnus to wonder whether he'll start breaking the rules just to finally catch Scorponok...

As the battle between the newly-arrived Autobot [[Headmaster]]s and their [[Decepticon]] counterparts rages around him, [[Optimus Prime]] ventures into the depths of [[Cybertron]], heading for Vector Sigma in order to stabilize and restore an Autobot power balance on the planet. [[Fortress Maximus|Fortress]] subsequently dispatches the Decepticons within the power of his battleship, Maximus, and [[Kup]] realises that he and the other Autobot Headmasters are refugees who fled the planet millions of years beforehand. Fortress relates the story of the civilisation they have established on the planet Master, and how several of their number rebelled under the leadership of a shadowy figure named [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] and were banished from Master, only to join up with the Decepticons.

Meanwhile, Optimus Prime is aided in his mission by the ghostly figure of [[Alpha Trion]], but without the Matrix, which has been left on [[Earth]] to recharge, there is little he can do to stabilize the fluctuating computer. Realizing the importance of the Matrix in Prime's task, the Autobots divide into teams in order to track down the secret location where the Matrix has been hidden and bring it to Cybertron. However, [[Soundwave]] and his cassettes catch wind of their plan, and various Decepticon squads intercept the Autobot forces searching for the Matrix. The [[Stunticon]]s battle the [[Aerialbot]]s in the desert, but their conflict eventually moves to the Arctic, and they in the midst of [[Hot Rod]], [[Blaster]] and the Autobot cassettes' clash with the [[Predacon]]s. Soundwave and his cassettes arrive to pick off Hot Rod, but Blaster and his team leap to the rescue, culminating in a one-on-one battle between the two communicators that ends with their mutual destruction. Soundwave's exploded remains are recovered by his cassettes, while Blaster dies in Hot Rod's arms, and the young Autobot vows to complete his mission.

*This episode revisits the concept of Transformers becoming drained of colour whenever they die, as seen in ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]''. In this case, however, when Soundwave and Blaster meet their ends, they turn white, rather than various shades of grey.

Blacker is possibly the most experienced warrior among the Autobots of Earth and is considered the senior member of the elite Brainmaster unit, making him one of the most respected Autobots around. Blacker tends to take this very seriously and is constantly trying to set the proper example for his fellows. Most autobots take this in stride with his prestige though [[Wingwaver]] considers it highly patronizing. Blacker is more than willing to sacrifice himself for others and has been crippled several times saving others. As a member of Brainmasters, Blacker is also an instrumental component of [[Road Caesar]] as he forms both the torso and arms.

: Blacker transforms into a racing buggy with oversized studded tires. His incredibly simplistic transformation for his size is due to the [[Brainmaster]] gimmick in his torso: placing his smaller robot "Brainmaster" body into the open chest cavity then closing the plate pushes the inner core of the small robot up, forming the larger robot's face.

: Blacker also can the entire upper body (basically, everything from the knees up) to [[Road Caesar]]. As he's the same size as his teammates, this makes for a rather doofy-looking super robot. His sword also combines with the swords from his teammates to form a bigger weapon for their combined form.
