Uh... I personally created that .jpg of Attacktix Anakin Skywalker and pre-lava Vader to illustrate the reference to them being the same character in the Attacktix section. If we're not allowed to acknowledge the other toys in the Attacktix line, don't we have to split Vader and Anakin into seperate pages and pretend we don't know they're the same person? --Rotty 00:22, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Animated continuity
Headmasters
Having harnessed the plasma energy released in the destruction of Cybertron, Decepticon Headmaster leader Scorponok had the Terrorcons plant bombs charged with the energy at strategic points beneath the surface of Mars, intending to generate more energy by destroying the planet. Their activities were stumbled across by Spike, Daniel, Wheelie and the Trainbots, who were on the planet conducting a geological survey at the time and summoned the Autobot Headmasters to help. However, Fortress Maximus was rendered inactive by a plasma energy blast, and Scorponok took the opportunity to activate his newly-constructed Transtector and head to the planet, pummelling Maximus before ordering the planet's destruction. Two clusters of bombs at the north and south poles were simultaneously detonated, beginning a chain reaction that started to tear the planet apart, allowing Scorponok and the Decepticons to escape while the Autobots were consumed by the inferno. Fortress Maximus, however, was able to absorb some of the energy released in the early stages of the conflagration and escaped as Mars exploded.

The destruction of Mars thankfully had minimal impact on the other planets of the solar system, but its absence did disrupt the gravimetric balance of space bridge travel, destabilizing it.

The (hilarious) Malay-English dub of Headmasters includes a throwaway line at the end where the Autobots promise to 'rebuild Mars,' which they apparently did. This does not appear in the Japanese version.

Victory
Ore acquired on Mars, coupled with ores from Earth and other planets, was used the creation of Schaeffer Energy.
[Note: When the origins of Schaeffer Energy are related, it is implied that Mars still exists.]
Jetfire and Starscream once travelled to Mars in seach of the Mini-Con panel containing Firebot. Upon hearing this, the kids asked the two Transformers to buy them something from the souvenir shop. Sadly, as Mars was uninhabited by either human or alien lifeforms, there were no shops to be found. Starscream did however find a mysterious glowing green rock and gave it to the children. They were so happy.
Energon
Ten years after the defeat of Unicron, the Cybertronian Alliance and the Earth Federation installed a facility on the surface of Mars to mine the potent naturally-occuring ore Energon. Unfortunately, this facility was decimated by the initial Terrorcon attack, leading Carlos to aptly remark "Holy frijoles".

Also Tidal Wave was stationed on Mars, by the autobots during the Cybertronian Alliance, to guard the Mini-Cons who were sent there.

A little while later, the survivors of the first attack, Autobot, Decepticon and Mini-Con, made a valiant last stand against a second Terrorcon attack, this time being personally led by Scorponok.

Synopsis
As Buster Witwicky slowly comes to, he quickly realizes he is far from home. The giant Decepticon robots looming over him was a good clue. Shockwave and Ratbat debate the fuel-efficiency merits of keeping the young human alive, with Shockwave defending his position by pointing to the human naval fleet just off the coast of their new island base. He correctly believes that Buster will serve as an effective human shield against any reprisal by Triple-I or the military. As Forsythe and Barnett find themselves stymied by the Decepticons, Walter calls home to Oregon to alert Sparkplug Witwicky of his son's fate.

At that very moment, Spike Witwicky has returned to his father's hotel to inform him that he's going to search for Buster. As Barnett's call comes through, Spike surprises his father by "tracing the call" just by holding the phone wire in his hands. He's forced then to reveal his new status as an Autobot Headmaster, and takes his father outside to introduce him to his new partner, Fortress Maximus, and the Targetmaster troops currently under his command. As Spike is doing the introductions, though, there is dissention in the ranks, especially with Kup who disapproves of their overly-sentimental new leader.

As the Autobot turbo-transport arrives at the island, Kup insists Fortress Maximus remain behind and provide covering fire for the Targetmasters, lest his sentiment interfere directly with the mission. Kup should've been more worried about the island itself interfering, though, as massive cannons and blaster-weapons pop out of the sand and began unloading on the Autobots. Kup and his men are driven back into the water, as the island's impenetrable dome forms above the sand, revealing its true form as a giant spacecraft.

In order to save his brother, Spike combines with Fortress Maximus and leaps onto the island craft as it begins shooting out of Earth's atmosphere. As the Decepticons inside detect his presence, Shockwave triggers an elaborate defensive mechanism that flips Fort Max off the side of the rocket and directly in line with a palm tree that spears him with a missile. Damaged, Cerebros splits off from his larger partner, only to be forced into combat with Shockwave himself, who has left the rocket to defend his precious logic from the illogical actions of the Autobot. A blast from Shockwave's gun mode cripples Cerebros, and Spike is forced to separate off once more, leaving himself very vulnerable. However, he manages to remotely line-up Max's guns to target Shockwave, blasting him back into Earth's gravitational pull, where the Decepticon begins to burn up in re-entry.

Spike has a brief moment of reunion with Buster through the island's transparent casing before Ratbat fires the rockets and takes the ship far beyond Spike's meager propulsion capabilities. As he and his components are picked up by the Targetmasters' transport, Spike laments the loss of his brother. Despite that, his take-charge attitude and success against Shockwave earned him the respect of his fellow Autobots, and Kup officially welcomes Spike onto the team.

Errors
*Forsythe and Barnett incorrectly identify their former Autobot captives as numbering seven total, not six.
*The entire island was being held back by Fortress Maximus's weight alone?
*Why wasn't Buster sucked out through the top of the island when it opened up to fire the palm tree?

Items of note
*Spike's trick with the phone makes it clear that binary-bonding bestows Headmaster partners with more than just transforming ability.
*In the US comic, Shockwave is supposedly destroyed, and indeed believed dead for years until he eventually turns up again in US #65.
*Though it's glossed over, one can assume the Autobots stopped off at the naval fleet and collected the Throttlebots from Barnett and Triple-I around this point, as the robots were back with the Autobots by the Underbase Saga.

UK Printing
UK Issue 158

*The UK cover features Shockwave holding Buster, drawn by Dan Reed. The issue also includes Transformers A to Z entries for Hound and Huffer.

*The UK version corrects the number of Transformers Triple-I captured to six and the number of Throttlebots Barnett brings with him back down to five... except for the fifth panel on page 7 which is untouched and retains the US error. Whoops.

*In Grim Grams for issue #158, Grimlock attempts to clear up confusion over if Fortress Maximus's original partner was Galen or Kord, and continually teases on the events in the upcoming issues #160 & 161.

UK Issue 159

*The UK cover features the speared body of Fortress Maximus in space, drawn by Will Simpson and David Elliot.

*In the UK version, Shockwave's supposed demise was edited into the more beign sounding fate of merely falling to Earth, to allow his continued use in UK only stories such as in very issue.

*In Grim Grams for issue #159, Grimlock accepts yet more praise for Legacy of Unicron and the last 50 issues.
