Later in the battle he was seen assisting the injured [[Slugslinger (SG)|Slugslinger]]. {{storylink|Shattered Glass (issue)|Shattered Glass}}

When the Autobots tried to take the [[Arch-Ayr]] fuel dump from the [[Decepticon]]s and it was starting to look bleak, Soundwave called in the [[Mayhem Suppression Squad]] as the "cavalry". {{storylink|Dungeons & Dinobots}}

Starscream reported to Soundwave that the [[Slugfest (SG)|Slugfest]] and [[Overkill (SG)|Overkill]] were missing. Soundwave checked the security tapes, but found only minor glitches. The two [[Dinobot (SG)|Dinocons]] were soon discovered, having transformed into octaltrack data cartridges.

When boarding the ''[[Nemesis (SG)|Nemesis]]'', [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] assigned Soundwave to the comm. Soundwave brought with him his usual complement of [[Decepticon Mini-Cassette|tapes]] as well as the newcomers Slugfest and Overkill.

Soundwave manned the comm throughout the clash with the ''Ark''. He volunteered to stay and help Starscream guide the damaged Nemesis down to [[Earth]], but Cliffjumper insisted that Soundwave seek the safety of an escape pod, because he would need to communicate with Cybertron about their situation. {{storylink|Do Over}}
Before the ''Nemesis'' crash-landed on Earth, Soundwave jettisoned in an escape pod, but went into [[stasis lock]] when it landed. [[Heatwave]] found him at a scenic spot named [[Wyatt's Roadsideaganza]] and reactivated the escape pod's systems and the on-board scanner, which [[scanning|scanned]] a vehicle nearby for Soundwave and reactivated him. Soundwave tore a flag from a nearby pole and used it as his [[wikipedia:Hachimaki|hachimaki]], then detonated the stasis pod as the pair of them set out to find their fallen comrades. {{storylink|The Desert Heat!}}
'''Following the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s destruction, the new Dinobots are unleashed! But what ancient horror is behind Grimlock's miraculous transformation?'''

==Synopsis==
The [[Decepticon]]s, led by [[Megatron (SG)|Megatron]], and the [[Autobot]]s, led by [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Optimus Prime]], are battling for control of the [[Arch-Ayr]] fuel dump. [[Soundwave (SG)|Soundwave]] arrives with the [[Mayhem Suppression Squad]], forcing the Autobots to withdraw. A thunderous clatter heralds the coming of [[Grimlock (SG)|Grimlock]] and the [[Dinobot (SG)|Dinobots]], controlled by [[Wheeljack (SG)|Wheeljack]]. The mad scientist vows revenge on Optimus Prime. Optimus, however, convinces Wheeljack to use his [[ember]]less monsters against the Decepticons. But when ordered to attack, the Dinobots turn on each other and scatter.

Back at the Autobot base, Optimus vents his anger at [[Blurr (SG)|Blurr]] and [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]]. He orders all available Autobots to bring back the Dinobots for reprograming. Meanwhile, Megatron comes to the same conclusion, sending some top Decepticons after the beasts.

Some time later, [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] and [[Sideswipe (SG)|Sideswipe]] locate [[Slugfest (SG)|Slugfest]]. But the hulking [[Goryu (SG)|Goryu]] comes to the small Dinobot's aid.

Elsewhere, [[Jazz (SG)|Jazz]], [[Goldbug (SG)|Goldbug]], [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]], and [[Blurr (SG)|Blurr]] debate who will climb a tower to retrieve [[Swoop (SG)|Swoop]].

Cliffjumper and Sideswipe finally defeat the two Dinobots and go after an Autobot passing on the horizon. When cornered, [[Huffer (SG)|Huffer]] admits that he's running from Grimlock.

The group of Autobots bring down Swoop, then Blurr and Rodimus respond to a call from Huffer about Grimlock's location.

Cliffjumper and Sideswipe track Grimlock to an old bunker. Sideswipe shows hesitation. This is the place where Optimus had Sideswipe attacked for insubordination after the Optimus killed Sideswipe's commander [[Drench (SG)|Drench]]. That conflict also led to Sideswipe's own comrade [[Cliffjumper (SG)|Cliffjumper's]] death. The current Cliffjumper dismisses those concerns and the two descend deep into the tomb-like bunker. While examining funerary hieroglyphics, a booming voice calls, "GET OUT." But the way out is obscured; the tunnels have changed. Continuing on their journey, Cliffjumper injures his leg in a trap.

Rodimus and Blurr arrive at the bunker. Along the way down, they also run into a booby trap. On the other side, they meet up with Cliffjumper and Sideswipe. Cliffjumper and Rodimus inadvertently tumble into a hidden passage, activating yet another hazard.

At that same moment, Blurr and Sideswipe are harassed by [[Mutant (SG)|mutants]].

Rodimus deactivates the crushing trap, and the two fall through the floor. Rodimus realizes that this place is where the Omega Terminus is hiding. He plans to use it to create his own army. On their way, they locate a vial of healing [[scraplet|scraplets]] who eat dead metal.

The mutants cease their pursuit when Blurr and Sideswipe reach the [[Omega Terminus]] chamber. The four meet up again, crossing a narrow bridge over a deep chasm. On the other side, they find Grimlock, who explains in his rudimentary way that a voice guided him to his chamber. A light shoots out of the Omega Terminus, striking Grimlock. The lumbering beast transforms into a robot, suddenly eloquent. To the surprise of the others, he's been granted an ember and a robot mode, along with a great deal of intelligence.

Grimlock proclaims that the Omega Terminus doesn't want the others here. Cliffjumper challenges him, but the Omega Terminus responds. Four corpses are animated, among them, the native Cliffjumper and Drench. Grimlock divulges that the mutants bring the deactivated robots back here so that the Omega Terminus can use them for new life. A battle ensues. The zombies are dispatched with the scraplets and Grimlock falls over the edge into the chasm. The formless voice again instructs them to leave, and the four are only too pleased to obey.

For his failure, Rodimus is sent to [[Ratchet (SG)|Ratchet]] for an upgrade: a new buzzsaw-hand. Blurr reports to Optimus that the Decepticons have captured eight Dinobots. Unannounced, Grimlock enters the room. He offers his services to Optimus while also asserting his independence. This enrages Prime, but Grimlock's intellect impresses the Autobot leader.

Later, Grimlock breaks into the Decepticon corral, promising the Decepticon-captured "Dinocons" a trip to the Omega Terminus...
==Quotes==
"Fear not, Mega-Dude! This is Soundwave, rockin' the radio from Darkmount, and I bring you joyous tidings! For I have totally called in the cavalry!"
:—'''Soundwave''' is the righteous bearer of good news.

"Shoot it! I can't keep this up forever!"<br />
"I can't, the glass gas'll blow back in my face!"<br />
"That's a terrible weapon!"<br />
"Why don't you just beat it to death with a ''missile'' if you're so smart!"
:—'''Sideswipe''' and '''Cliffjumper''' discuss tactics.

"Listen Huffer, you'd better talk. My partner here isn't quite what you'd call sane. He believes in Primus."
:—'''Sideswipe''' gives the Shattered Glass perception of Transformer religious views.

"Me... me... m... m... my... I... iii... I... Griiimm... lock... waaaaannnt... to talk a little bit about the truly fascinating ramifications of directly applied neutronic rearrangement when applied to instantaneous mechanical re-engineering! It is a fascinating subject, particularly in terms of practical application, wot?"
:—'''Grimlock''' goes from stupidly incomprehensible to intelligently incomprehensible.

"LEAVE WITH YOUR LIVES. NEVER RETURN."<br />
"And if we don't?"<br />
"YOU ARE OUT OF SCRAPLETS."
:—'''Omega Terminus''' makes a rather persuasive argument to '''Sideswipe'''.

==Notes==
* Something may be going on with Side Burn. Though he speaks like a mirrorverse Side Burn would (gently ranting against "undue attention to females"), there are other indicators that he's not exactly what he seems. He hasn't been with the Autobots long. He's one of the few characters, along with Crasher and Demolishor, who isn't based on someone from G1. Blurr remarks that Side Burn doesn't belong, implying there's something off about him. He may very well be the ''[[Robots in Disguise (franchise)|Robots In Disguise]]'' [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]]: at the [[:Image:Optimusprimaluniverseend.jpg|end of the Universe conflict]] he was last seen being tossed into a [[transwarp]] portal by [[Omega Prime]] (who, in turn, was sent not to his own home timeline but to a [[Unicron Trilogy]] universe).
* In the original [[Shattered Glass (issue)|Shattered Glass comic]], the Decepticons had never heard of [[Primus]] until Cliffjumper told them about Him. They are shocked to hear the idea that they are the work of a benevolent Creator. By the time of "Dungeons & Dinobots," word of Cliffjumper's "beliefs" has apparently made rounds. The Autobots consider Cliffjumper crazy and laughable for being "Mr. 'The Planet is a God.'"

* Like the ''[[The Transformers (cartoon)|The Transformers]]'' cartoon continuity, Wheeljack created the Dinobots, except for [[Grimlock (SG)|Grimlock]], who is created by the Decepticons just like ''[[Transformers Animated (franchise)|Transformers Animated]]'' continuity.
* Grimlock gained a remarkable intelligence, just like [[Grimlock (G1)|his counterpart]] in ''The Transformers'' cartoon episode "[[Grimlock's New Brain]]".
:''Megatron is the [[Decepticon leader|nice leader]] of the heroic [[Decepticon]]s in the "[[Shattered Glass (franchise)|Shattered Glass]]" [[continuity family]]. After being resurrected and reformatted by [[Nexus Prime]], he is known as '''Galvatron'''.''
[[Image:Megatronshatteredglassprofile.jpg|right|300px|thumb|In the mirrorverse, math isn't evil.]]
'''Megatron''' was a young mathematician who lectured at a university on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. However, he noticed a disturbing trend in the numbers: civil war was certain! His colleagues just called him crazy and laughed it off, but when the maniacal [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Optimus Prime]] and his evil army of [[Autobot]]s took over Cybertron, Megatron had been waiting in the underground, forming a resistance movement to take back Cybertron and keep the Autobots from conquering the universe and plundering it, as they had done to Cybertron.

When an attempted coup by [[Alpha Trion (SG)|Alpha Trion]] resulted in [[Cyclonus (SG)|one of his trusted soldiers]] assassinating him, Megatron was resurrected by [[Nexus Prime]] into an even more powerful form known as '''Galvatron'''. Fueled by both the power of [[Thirteen original Transformers|the 13]] and a vision of a healed, peaceful Cybertron granted to him in the [[Allspark]], he is now an even more determined and powerful adversary to the evil Autobots, though the betrayal he suffered sometimes still haunts him.

In both forms, he can wield the mighty [[Rumbler (SG)|Rumbler]] tank, his weapon of choice.

There were those who opposed the tyranny of Optimus Prime's merciless Autobots, but they were scattered. But there would come a leader, and Megatron emerged from the city of [[Polyhex]] to unite them. After retaking some of Cybertron, Megatron pushed the odds in his favor by inventing the art of [[transformation]] and renaming his forces "Decepticons." However, Optimus Prime was able to duplicate this technology, and intended to use it to conquer other worlds.

As Optimus Prime built his ''[[Ark (SG)|Ark]]'' for this purpose, Megatron and his inner circle planned to derail Prime's attempts at expansion. During a critical moment, the body of what appeared to be one of Optimus Prime's former lieutenants, [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]], was discovered by them and brought into their Polyhex stronghold. It was discovered that Cliffjumper had traveled from another universe which mirrored their own. After some misgivings, Cliffjumper agreed to aid them in their assault on the ''Ark'' and lent the technology from his [[glass gas]] towards the cause. On the battlefield, Prime was enraged that Cliffjumper had double-crossed him, and Megatron took the shot that was meant for the strange traveler. Cliffjumper was finally convinced of where he stood and backed Megatron whole-heartedly, and after destroying the ''Ark'' and its launching platform, Megatron critically wounded Prime and called his forces into retreat. {{storylink|Shattered Glass (issue)|Shattered Glass}}

Sometime later, Megatron led the defense of the [[Arch-Ayr]] fuel dump that the [[Decepticon]]s had recently rediscovered. He ended up being injured enough to be taken out of the fight, and [[Starscream (SG)|Starscream]] fussed over and helped repair him. As the situation started looking dire, Megatron considered destroying the fuel dump to keep it out of Autobot hands. Fortunately, [[Soundwave (SG)|Soundwave]] called in the [[Mayhem Suppression Squad]] right at that moment. Megatron was impressed at the squad's skill in beating back the Autobots, but a bit put off by their... enthusiasm.

When the [[Dinobot (SG)|Dinobot]]s' appearance further disrupted the fight and sent the Autobots packing back to [[Iacon]], the Decepticons discussed the now running-loose Dinobots. Megatron agreed with [[Dirge (SG)|Dirge]]'s suggestion that they attempt to capture some of them to bolster their own forces. He ordered Starscream to gather a small force of their best mechs and have them commence the "Dinobot Hunt". {{storylink|Dungeons & Dinobots}}

A short time before the launch of the Autobots' ''Ark'', Megatron flew out to the [[Temple of Knowledge]], believing he had been summoned by [[Boltax (SG)|Boltax]]. Instead, it was [[Ricochet (SG)|Ricochet]] who had lured Megatron into a trap. Ricochet and [[Nightstick (SG)|Nightstick]] subdued the Decepticon leader. The Autobot [[Targetmaster]]s hung Megatron over a pit lined with deathtraps and broadcast a ransom to the Decepticons. Ricochet believed that the Decepticons would not follow the ''Ark'' into space without Megatron. However, the Decepticons chose to send a small force to rescue him while continuing the preparations for departure. Optimus Prime also arrived, angry with Ricochet's plan. The Decepticon Micromasters distracted the Autobots, allowing Megatron to escape his prison. Megatron snatched up Ricochet's weapon, Nightstick, but Nightstick took control of Megatron's arm. Optimus took advantage of the situation, grabbing Megatron's own weapon [[Rumbler (SG)|Rumbler]] and charging at Megatron. Megatron turned, though, and Rumbler's sword severed Megatron's wrist, allowing him to regain control of his arm. Rumbler returned to Megatron's side and the Autobots retreated. {{storylink|Do Over}}
[[Image:SGCyclonus Reunification4.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Cyclonus is a traitor? Yeah, whatever, maybe in OPPOSITE LAND.]]
When [[Aquarius (SG)|Aquarius]], [[Breakaway (Classics)|Breakaway]], [[Landquake (Timelines)|Landquake]], and [[Topspin (Classics)|Topspin]] arrived at the Decepticons' base to ask after [[Heatwave]], Megatron welcomed them in, with the proviso that they explain why they were looking for Heatwave and being chased by [[Computron (SG)|Computron]]. After Landquake finished said explanation, Megatron sent [[Cyclonus (SG)|Cyclonus]] to fetch Heatwave. As they waited, he told Aquarius that he looked forward to an alliance between the Decepticons and [[Quintesson]]s. Once Heatwave arrived, Megatron told their visitors that he hoped his "skilled soldier" could answer their questions.

Unfortunately, further discussion was cut short when Megatron was shocked and caught off-guard by Cyclonus opening fire on him, in an assassination plot masterminded by Alpha Trion. {{storylink|Reunification: Part 4}} The traitor Cyclonus was escorted away, but it was too late: Megatron was dead. However, Breakaway believed they could return Megatron to life if the four travelers and Heatwave put their hands on Megatron's body. {{storylink|Reunification: Part 5}}
[[Image:NexusPrimeRevivesGalvatron TheComingStorm1.jpg|left|250px|thumb|]]
They were successful, as the gestalt members' ministrations resulted in both them being reborn as [[Nexus Prime]], and Megatron being resurrected as Galvatron. The two went out to face down [[Omega Doom]], who had arrived outside of the Decepticon base.

When Nexus Prime went into space to deal with a deadly missile Omega Doom launched towards the sun during the fight, Galvatron stayed behind and led his Decepticons in a defense against the behemoth. Omega Doom was able to defeat all of his attackers and damage Galvatron, but by that time Nexus Prime had finished dealing with the missile, and laid the smackdown on Omega Doom.

As he later received repairs from [[Mixmaster (SG)|Mixmaster]] and [[Scavenger (SG)|Scavenger]], Galvatron told Nexus Prime he respected the gestalt's choice to leave, and gave him use of the [[Stellar Spanner]] they had retrieved from Alpha Trion's laboratory. {{storylink|Reunification: Part 6}}
:Megatron is a [[redeco]] and [[retool]] of Ultra-class ''[[Energon (franchise)|Energon]]'' [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]], with a more heroic color scheme and a new head mold based on an early character model for ''[[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]]'' [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] (see below). He comes with [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]] and [[Divebomb (SG)|Divebomb]] as a bagged set, limited to 1100 pieces.

:Megatron transforms into a silver and black Cybertronic jet with red accents and blue translucents. Included is the "[[Rumbler (SG)|Rumbler]]" tank (which is originally a representation of ''[[Armada (franchise)|Armada]]'' Megatron's tank form, and sort-of a homage of [[Megazarak]]), which can plug onto the top of the vehicle mode and can also fire missiles out of its spring-loaded main gun (presumably meant to be a [[fusion cannon]]). [[Super Mode|Hyper Mode]] can be activated by tugging his transparent wing tips outward, which extends the blue sections, raises the upper gray parts of his wings in an "X-wing" configuration, and deploys the red weapons underneath. In robot mode, Rumbler can be attached to either of his arms as a cannon, or it can be flipped around and have a sword attached to the rear of its turret. Like most convention exclusives, the electronics from this accessory have been stripped out to keep costs down.
[[Image:Earlymegatron.jpg|thumb|right|300px|It's tough to homage anything older.]]
*Megatron's head design is based on the early [[Megatron (G1)|Generation 1 Megatron]] [[character model]] seen in the first Transformers [[commercial]], early issues of the Marvel Comics, and Megatron's Marvel ''Transformers Universe'' profile. Likewise, the helmet colors are derived from the Marvel Comics as well, featuring a black helmet on a silver face. The head was designed by [[Dan Khanna]].
* The [[Fun Publications]] photography incorrectly shows the Rodimus/Megatron set as having come with [[Rampage (SG)|Rampage]] instead of Divebomb.
* Megatron using math to predict future trends is based on [[wikipedia:psychohistory (fictional)|psychohistory]] from [[wikipedia:Isaac Asimov|Isaac Asimov]]'s [[wikipedia:Foundation series|Foundation series]] of novels,<ref>http://forum.idwpublishing.com/viewtopic.php?p=70915#70915</ref> but if we wanted to be cynical about it, we'd probably point out that it's more likely inspired by its recent importance in [[Marvel Comics|Marvel]]'s ''Fantastic Four'' ''Civil War'' crossover.
[[Image:Galvatronsgcustom.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Speak softly and carry a big <s>stick</s> tank.]]
* His Galvatron form is based on ''[[Cybertron (franchise)|Cybertron]]'' [[Evac (Cybertron)|Evac]], but with [[Galvatron (G1)|''Generation 1'' Galvatron]]'s color scheme. The idea was inspired by a customized toy (right) by Fun Publications' [[Jesse Wittenrich]], who painted a Galvatron using the ''[[War Within (toyline)|War Within]]'' [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] he didn't want. He'll be happy to tell you that [[Rumbler (SG)|Rumbler]] can still attach to Galvatron's right arm via the pegs there.
* Galvatron's creation is tied to [[Primus]], mirroring ''Generation 1'' Galvatron's [[Unicron]] origin.
