'''A team of Rescue Bots is assigned by Optimus Prime to work with the Burns family on the island of Griffin Rock.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Image:FamilyOfHeroes Cody and Chief Burns.jpg|thumb|left|250px|"Come on, son, we know it was you. No-one else even likes [[JaAm]]."]]
Somewhere in space, a drifting Autobot spaceship receives a message from [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] directing them to [[Earth]]. The ship automatically changes course and eventually touches down in a military base. The four members of [[Rescue Force Sigma-17]] emerge and are greeted by Optimus himself, who informs them that [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] is no longer the [[Autobot]]s' home.

On the island of [[Griffin Rock]], [[Cody Burns]] is biking to school when his [[Charlie Burns|dad]] pulls up alongside in the old police car, which is soon to be replaced with a new car as part of the town's function as a hi-tech testing ground. Cody wants to test drive the new vehicles, but the rest of his family points out they're for grown-ups.

Optimus tells the new arrivals that he has a new mission for them: to live with a [[human]] family and learn more about Earth, but they must do so disguised as normal machines. He gives them rescue vehicles to [[scanning|scan]], though [[Blades (RB)|Blades]] is unenthusiastic when he discovers the [[alternate mode]] he's ended up with flies. Optimus introduces them to Chief Charlie Burns, the only human who knows the [[Rescue Bot]]s' true nature.

[[Image:FamilyOfHeroes Chief Burns introduces Rescue Bots.jpg|thumb|right|250px|"And [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]] thought [[Human|they]] wouldn't be comfortable with us [[Transformers Animated (cartoon)|why]]?]]
That afternoon, Cody arrives at the dedication, where he meets [[Frankie Greene]] and her father, [[Doc Greene]], in the audience, though Frankie's more interested in the new exhibit of robot dinosaurs at the [[Griffin Rock Natural History Museum|museum]]. Chief Burns introduces the gathered crowd to the Rescue Bots, describing them as new hi-tech robots which will work with him and his family as a rescue response unit. When a butterfly lands on [[Boulder]]'s face, the Autobot instinctively goes to shoo it away, but is stopped by [[Heatwave (RB)|Heatwave]]. However, Cody's suspicions are already raised. When Cody jumps up and knocks on Boulder's foot, he's told to get lost by [[Huxley Prescott|a reporter]]. The press photos are interrupted when word comes in of a fire at the Natural History Museum.

[[Image:FamilyOfHeroes Heatwave catches head.jpg|thumb|left|250px|[[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]] wasn't happy about being left out of [[Transformers: Fall of Cybertron|the new game]].]]
Burns and his rescue squad head to the museum, although [[Dani Burns|Dani]] discovers her helicopter doesn't seem to like flying too high. [[Chase (RB)|Chase]] begins clearing the humans from the area, though is confused when a couple of Egyptian mummies fail to comply. [[Graham Burns|Graham]] is bemused when he tells Boulder to move some planters and the Autobot responds that it would ruin the aesthetics. They manage to get the fire out, and Graham locates the cause: a short in one of the robotic dinosaurs. While he's fixing it, Cody sneaks into the museum, having followed the team on his bike. He's therefore present to witness Heatwave saving Chief Burns and Graham from a falling dinosaur head. Burns explains it as Heatwave having been left in rescue mode, and [[Kade Burns|Kade]] is glad to take the credit. As they leave the museum, the eyes on a short-circuiting [[Trex|animatronic ''Tyrannosaurus rex'']] light up ominously!

That night, back in the fire station, the Rescue Bots take a lift down to a [[Cold War (history)|Cold War]] bunker underneath the station. Upstairs, Cody excuses himself from dinner with his family and heads downstairs, where he catches the Rescue Bots complaining about their new gig. Heatwave has just decided they're going to leave when Cody speaks up. The Rescue Bots realize their cover is blown, but after introductions are made, Cody shows them that there are many tunnels leading around the island from the bunker. They check out a giant robot movie at a drive in, and Cody attempts to teach the Rescue Bots how to act like "real" robots as well as give them tips on dealing with his siblings. Lessons are brought to a halt when they spot the robotic ''T. rex'' from the museum, now rampaging along the street. As it moves into the drive-in, Cody gets Chase to start his lights, and they establish the thing is attracted to light. They begin leading the creature to a safe area while Cody contacts his dad.

[[Image:FamilyOfHeroes T-rex chases Chase.jpg|thumb|right|250px|At least, unlike [[Blast from the Past|last time]], [[Grimlock (Animated)|it]] can't breathe fire]]
Burns takes the rest of his family in the old squad car, and they soon catch up with the Rescue Bots as the chase moves outside town. While they try to work out how to deal with the rogue dinosaur, Cody calls Frankie. Soon Boulder is extracting a jail cell from the police station, which Dani and Blades fly to the scene. Meanwhile, Chase keeps the ''T. rex'' occupied, and Kade and Heatwave wet some ground to make mud. Kade is shocked when Heatwave transforms, attracts the dinosaur's attention, and then throws it into the mud. Dani lowers the makeshift cage over it, allowing Cody to shut the dinosaur down.

The next day, they return the dinosaur to the museum, and Burns decides to get a picture of "his heroes" outside. After Heatwave tells Kade that Cody's part of the team or the Rescue Bots leave, Chief Burns reveals that they're not just robots, they're aliens.
==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
*As the Burns family watch the Rescue Bots and dinosaur speed past, the holographic traffic lights on the intersection aren't working, though they were a shot earlier.
*When Chase is polishing his chest and shoulder during Heatwave's rant, the yellow parts of his eyes appear a greyish-green. They become yellow when Cody first appears, but revert to grey shortly after. They turn yellow once more as Heatwave introduces himself, and remain that way for several minutes, but are grey again when he contacts the chief.
*As Kade drives away in Heatwave to deal with the Dinobot, Cody's comlink suddenly appears clipped to the collar of his jacket. It vanishes by the next shot, but then inexplicably reappears in-between frames after he powers down the Dinobot. It quickly disappears again, reappears as he moves away from his family for Chief's photo, then disappears once more as he stands in front of the Bots. But when the Burnses (minus Kade) gather around him for the picture, the comlink is present one final time - only to vanish as Heatwave puts a hand on Cody's shoulder.

===Continuity notes===
*Rescue Bots takes place in continuity with ''[[Transformers: Prime (cartoon)|Transformers: Prime]]'', though it's unclear exactly at which point in the other series this episode takes place.

===Transformers references===
*Optimus's message calling Autobots to Earth, which is received by the Rescue Bots' spacecraft riffs off a similar message sent into space by [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] at the end of the 2007 ''[[Transformers (film)|Transformers]]'' film.
* When talking to their passengers in vehicle mode, the Rescue Bots display an image of their robot mode faces on a screen, much like the Autobots in ''[[Transformers: Robots in Disguise (cartoon)|Transformers: Robots in Disguise]]''.
'''A prophecy predicts dark times ahead, which Megatron intends to see through.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] recites a passage from the [[Covenant of Primus]], foretelling that a perpetual conflict will culminate when the forty-seven spheres align. Despite the other [[Autobot]]s' lack of faith, [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] realizes that the "world forged of chaos" referred to in the prophecy is [[Earth]]—and that the alignment will occur in a matter of days.

Aboard the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] explains to [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] that he sought the [[Dark Energon|blood]] of [[Unicron]] so that he could conquer worlds with [[Terrorcon (Prime)|undead armies]]. Knock Out assures him that more Dark Energon awaits amongst the stars, but advises him not to push himself. Megatron then claims that he is the "rising darkness" of which the prophecy speaks.

[[Jack Darby|Jack]], [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]], and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] find a picture of [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] while searching a conspiracy website. Raf replaces the image with a dancing cat, which makes Ratchet laugh. Jack then invites Optimus to take a look, but is flatly denied. Ratchet then states that, before he became a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]], Optimus behaved quite similarly to Jack. [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]] suddenly interrupts, and reveals that the [[Decepticon]]s have been stealing components to build a second [[space bridge]]. Back aboard the ''Nemesis'', Knock Out and [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] inform Megatron that the only item left on the list is an ample power source, which can be found in a heavily fortified human base. [[Airachnid]] could simply tunnel in, but Megatron hastily has them retrieve it. Optimus warns Fowler to have his troops evacuate, for fear of human casualties.

Optimus, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] arrive to fend off the [[Vehicon (Prime)|Decepticon drones]]—and all goes well until Megatron himself heads out toward the battlefield. He spots Bumblebee along the way, who was taking Raf racing. Megatron opens fire, frying Bumblebee's systems and knocking Raf out cold. Megatron arrives at the battlefield just as the Autobots disable the last of his drones, and taunts Optimus as Bumblebee arrives whilst carrying a wounded Raf. Bulkhead restrains the enraged scout, before Optimus orders Arcee to take him and Raf back to base. Megatron then ascends onto the ''Nemesis'' with the power source. Unbeknownst to Megatron, Optimus and Bulkhead climb aboard the ''Nemesis''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s hull.

Back at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One]], Ratchet panics that his tools are wrong for human examination—and Jack suggests that they call in [[June Darby|his mother]]. Meanwhile, Megatron has another vision in which he sees a [[Unicron|sinister face]] and a volcano. He then orders Knock Out and Airachnid to complete the space bridge, as there is something he must attend to. June arrives at the Autobot base, quick to unnerve Ratchet with the knowledge that Raf will die unless she can stabilise him immediately. Bumblebee vents his frustration on a nearby wall, but Arcee comforts him. Ratchet regrets having not bothered to learn human science and medicine, despite accepting the children into their lives. He then states that he has grown to need Rafael, just as Raf needs him.

Bulkhead and Optimus storm the Nemesis, and Optimus claims to have had a change of heart: he orders Bulkhead back to base with the power source, declaring that there is something he must do. He claims to have realised that Autobots and Decepticons will never co-exist peacefully, and vows to destroy Megatron.

As the planetary alignment nears; Megatron arrives at the volcano site, and Optimus uses a Vehicon comlink to challenge him. Optimus soon joins him at the base of the volcano, and the two exchange brief banter before engaging one another in fierce battle.

Meanwhile, Ratchet realises that Raf has been infected with Dark Energon—and theorises that exposure to normal energon should cure him. He takes a sample from Bumblebee, placing Raf in a sealed chamber to test his theory as the others watch helplessly. Rafael soon opens his eyes, pulse stabilizing.

Optimus appears to defeat Megatron and prepares to deal the final blow—but the Decepticon leader catches his sword with unusual strength as the volcano begins to erupt. Strange purple markings glow to life across his body, and he quickly overpowers Optimus. He realises that the volcano is spewing forth Dark Energon, and moves to kill Optimus as he saw himself doing in a previous vision.
==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
* When the flying Vehicons arrive to help retrieve the power source from the military base, the Vehicon ground units which stole it in the first place vanish.
* During his fight with Megatron, Optimus goes from perfectly fine to battered and scratched up in seconds.

===Continuity errors===
*Megatron's jet-mode cannons score a direct hit on Bumblebee, yet do no apparent damage other than briefly stopping him. When Arcee was hit in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 5]]", it nearly killed her. On a similar note, Bumblebee should have taken the brunt of the Dark Energon exposure, but only Raf shows any symptoms. Arcee was weakened by exposure to a few drops from [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]]'s animated corpse in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 2]]". However, Optimus tells Arcee to look after Raf AND Bumblebee; its likely that Bee's just being strong for his partner's sake.
*Bumblebee knows Raf is injured, so why does he drive nearly two miles (three clicks) to the battlefield instead of just calling for a Groundbridge immediately?
*Raf says he can't see without his glasses in "[[Shadowzone (episode)|Shadowzone]]", but his first person shot is perfectly clear. This is a common thing for TV and movies, but still...

===Continuity notes===

===Transformers references===
* The [[Covenant of Primus]] first appeared in the ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]'' episode "[[Nemesis Part 1]]".
* Megatron and Optimus punch each other in the style of the opening credits, only on opposite sides. This isn't [[Sick Mind|the first time]] the show has done this.
* Yeah, yeah, "[[The Transformers: The Movie|One shall stand, one shall fall]]."
* Ratchet mentions that he has known Optimus for longer than any of the other Earth-stationed Autobots. Taking the character's appearance in ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)|War for Cybertron]]'' into account, this would be true, as Ratchet was under the direct command of Optimus prior to, and at the start of the game's storyline (it showed his first meeting with Bumblebee, and whilst Arcee was in the game, she never interacted with Optimus during the story. Bulkhead was mentioned as having joined with Optimus during a later period of time).
* Megatron refers to Optimus as "the last of the Primes". He was also called this by the head of the [[Autobot High Council]] in ''War for Cybertron'', upon his ascension to the rank of Prime. It is also a term used to refer to his [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|live-action film]] counterpart.

===Real-world references===
*The cat that Raf replaces Bumblebee's photo with is a reference to the lolcat phenomenon on the internet.
*The picture on the conspiracy website of a supposed alien looking through a window is a reference to the famed "Denver Alien" sighting where a man called Jeff Peckman claimed he filmed an extra-terrestrial outside of his home.

===Trivia===
* The episode was first broadcast on Canada's Teletoon channel.
* As Megatron explains why he sought out the blood of Unicron at the beginning of the episode, Knock Out totally checks out his 'nails' in the background. How vain can you get?!
* Megatron laments that the only shard of Dark Energon he has is the one in his chest. It would seem that, despite his machinations being discovered, Starscream never gave Megatron's original shard back.
* Bulkhead states that he has never seen Optimus “laugh, cry or lose his cool”. While it could just be an offhand expression, this inadvertently raises an interesting question as to whether Cybertronians actually have the ability to cry.
* The volcano erupting and Dark Energon coming out, Megatron's visions, and the quote "rising darkness" could mean that Unicron's awakening is what the prophecy speaks of.
* This is the first time an Autobot weaponizes a part of their vehicle mode—in this case, Optimus's wheels on his legs.
'''Breakdown is captured by MECH, and the only ones who can save him are... Team Prime.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] is fighting [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] in a ghost town on the [[Kamchatka Peninsula]] in Eastern [[Russia]] after the two have a run-in while tracking an energon signature. Though Bulkhead fights valiantly, Breakdown lays him flat with a hammer blow. As Breakdown prepares to finish the unconscious Bulkhead off, he's zapped by a blast of energy from a helicopter, which lands and disgorges [[Silas]] and a pack of [[MECH]] troops. Silas instructs them to take Breakdown. Bulkhead comes around to find Breakdown missing and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] calling out to him on the comm. After he bridges back to base for repairs, everyone's confused about what happened to Breakdown. [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]] has an idea who might be behind it.

On the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] relays news of Breakdown's capture to [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]. Starscream is keen to hunt down the [[human]]s responsible, but Megatron intends to leave Breakdown to his fate.

Breakdown recovers to find himself firmly attached to a metal slab. Silas introduces himself to the captive, who announces that Megatron will never pay a ransom, but Silas reveals they're not after money, just the technology in Breakdown's body.

Fowler fills the Autobots in — his intel has reported MECH activity in the Kamchatka Peninsula. While the other Autobots are happy for MECH to have Breakdown, [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] decides to mount a rescue mission. The others are surprised, and Bulkhead wonders if Optimus believes Breakdown will switch sides if the Autobots rescue him, but Optimus says while that's unlikely, they can't let MECH get Cybertronian technology.

Meanwhile, MECH have disengaged Breakdown's pain receptors in preparation for the operation. Silas thanks their captive in advance for the service he is about to do them, and the heavy machinery moves in to take the Decepticon apart.

Miko tries to talk Bulkhead into going on the mission, but he's not keen, and Optimus agrees he would not be an asset on the mission. Optimus departs with [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]], [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]]. Miko looks disappointed, and Bulkhead suggests they watch a movie instead.

Prime's team arrives in the ghost town, to find it deserted. Though Bumblebee spots some vehicle tracks, Ratchet reports he's got an [[energon (fuel)|energon]] trace, and they go to look for the source.

Fowler has already fallen asleep in front of ''[[Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape]]''. Miko isn't watching the movie though, as she's disappointed that Bulkhead isn't getting to face down his own arch-enemy. Bulkhead still doesn't want to rescue the 'Con, but Miko points out that if he doesn't, he won't get to have a rematch. Bulkhead takes the [[GroundBridge]] to [[Russia]].

Prime's team finds the energon reading — it's Breakdown's eye, sitting in the open.

Bulkhead follows a MECH car to a railway tunnel and, weapons primed, ventures inside.

Ratchet hooks Breakdown's eye up to his scanner so they can retrieve the last images it saw, however it turns out that Silas has turned the eye into a two-way video feed. Silas is surprised to see the Autobots, but shows off the work they're doing on Breakdown and points out the bomb the Autobots are standing virtually on top of. Prime's team just manages to get clear before the bomb explodes.

Silas passes on the news to Breakdown that his would-be rescuers are Autobots, much to the captive's confusion. At this point, Bulkhead breaks through an outer door and fights his way through the MECH goons to find Breakdown. Freeing the startled Decepticon, Bulkhead leads the way to the exit, but once outside they're confronted by the bulk of the MECH forces. Bulkhead calls for backup and their pair start fighting in earnest. Silas's 'copter begins firing bursts of energy, and Breakdown in an uncharacteristic act of altruism knocks Bulkhead out of the way of them. The fight continues, but [[MECH Navigator|Silas's copilot]] reports incoming signals, resulting in Silas ordering a general retreat. Arriving, however, is not Optimus's team, but Starscream and a bunch of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s. Starscream orders Breakdown to destroy Bulkhead, and though Breakdown is initially reluctant, Starscream sways him, and he attacks his Autobot rescuer. Bulkhead soundly pummels Breakdown before smashing Starscream and taking out the Vehicons with Breakdown's body. The Decepticons are forced to retreat as Optimus's team finally shows up. Optimus is impressed that Bulkhead has risen above his petty rivalries to rescue Breakdown, but the moment is spoiled by Bulkhead asking if they all saw how he bashed the Decepticons.

Breakdown pauses short of the ''Nemesis'', where Starscream informs him that he will repay his debt one day... when he must choose between Megatron's leadership and Starscream's.

Silas records that the information they gained from Breakdown was enough for them to start [[Project Chimera]]...

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===

===Continuity errors===
* MECH can carve up Breakdown with ease with their surgical lasers, but the guns they give their footsoldiers seemingly have no effect on Transformers. Clearly MECH's footsoldiers should be equipped with surgical lasers instead.
* Ratchet says that Silas has turned the optics into a two way frequency and Silas states that Breakdown can't see much anymore. Both lines indicate that Breakdown has lost both his eyes, but in the next screen, Breakdown still has one eye and there's nothing seen that could have been recording the image seen by the Autobots.
* How does an optic play back audio anyway? It should be picture only.
* Moments after calling Optimus Prime by name and stating that he was expecting Megatron he tells Breakdown about his "would be rescuers" from the same location he had just been talking to them from yet Breakdown seems to have no idea that they were Autobots. How did he not hear the conversation?

===Transformers references===
Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape as well as being a Godzilla vs. King Kong reference could also be a BW Megatron vs. Optimus Primal reference.

===Foreign dubbing===

===Real-world references===
*Miko plays the game "Marco Polo" with Bulkhead. Bulkhead later plays the game with MECH.

===Trivia===
*The episode was screened at [[BotCon 2011]] before its first airing on television.
*This is the first episode of the series that Jack hasn't appeared in.
*Miko seems to have [[Shadowzone (episode)|learned her lesson]]: she didn't follow Bulkhead this time.
*Bulkhead, Miko, and Fowler watch ''[[Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape]]''.
*Human death ''must'' have occurred during Bulkhead and Breakdown's outdoor battle with MECH. Case in point: Breakdown throwing a car at a helicopter, causing a midair explosion.
*Despite being Breakdown's partner, Knockout makes no appearance in his episode, leaving the audience to wonder if he didn't know about Breakdown's capture, or didn't care enough to bother rescuing him.
*The [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamchatka_Peninsula| Kamchatka Peninsula] is an actual place, with heavy volcanic activity. But if the show is placed in 2011, there are no recorded evacuations in 1991 due to volcanic activity.
"It's a trap!"<br>
"Would this be a 'roll out' kind of trap?"
:—'''Optimus Prime''' ackbars and '''Arcee''' continues to be genre savvy.

"One day, you will repay your debt to me, Breakdown… the day it comes time to choose sides."<br>
“Huh… between ‘Bots and ‘Cons?”<br>
“Between myself – and Megatron.”
:—'''Starscream''' informs a confused '''Breakdown''' of his plans for the future.

==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===

===Continuity errors===

===Transformers references===
Dinolizard vs. Five-Headed Ape as well as being a Godzilla vs. King Kong reference could also be a BW Megatron vs. Optimus Primal reference.

===Foreign dubbing===

===Real-world references===
*Miko plays the game "Marco Polo" with Bulkhead. Bulkhead later plays the game with MECH.

===Trivia===
Sure, [[Starscream (Prime)|other Decepticons]] may scoff at his decision to go with a land-based alternate mode, but '''Knock Out''' couldn't care less. He knows the value of looking ''good'' and isn't afraid to let others know it. [[Image:TFPrime_KnockOutDrill.JPG|left|thumb|200px|"Prepare for valmorification!"]]
[[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] called Knock Out and Breakdown to the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'' to help fix [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]. As they were on an [[energon (fuel)|energon]] trail at the time, only Knock Out initially turned up at the ship, and he was shocked at Megatron's condition. When Breakdown did join them, it was with news that he'd discovered an [[Energon Harvester]] was on [[Earth]]. As the [[Autobot]]s had already surrounded the museum the device was in, Knock Out and Breakdown organised a diversion at the front of the building. During the fight, Knock Out attacked [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] with his prod, but was flattened by [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] after the Autobot was punched by Breakdown. The two Decepticons sped off into the city after they saw that [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] had captured the Harvester. Knock Out subsequently accompanied Starscream and Breakdown to an [[energon (fuel)|energon]] seam in [[Greece]]. He and Breakdown got the opportunity to fight Bulkhead again, but came off decidedly second-best, and they both fled after the Harvester was destroyed and the other Autobots turned up. {{storylink|Deus ex Machina}}

[[Image:KnockOutvehiclemode.jpg|thumb|]]
Knock Out took to engaging in street racing with the humans. On one occasion, a [[Fast Willy|hapless human]] who scratched his paint job was run off the road by the Decepticon. Despite Starscream's disapproval of his participation in such events, Knock Out continued to cruise around, looking for action, and was eventually drawn to a street race near [[Jasper]]. After the race started, he realized that one of the other cars taking part was [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and attacked the Autobot. He ended up grabbing what he assumed was Bumblebee's human pal, but was actually an unrelated human named [[Vince]]. Making off, he contacted Breakdown and they attempted to spring an ambush on the three Autobots who came to rescue the boy, but after [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] jumped on him, he decided to withdraw to avoid any more damage to his finish. Unfortunately he was caught by Optimus Prime, who ''ripped his door off'' while rescuing Vince. Faced with four Autobots, Knock Out fled back to the ''Nemesis'' only to face a very angry Starscream, who put a few more scratches in his finish. {{storylink|Speed Metal}}

Starscream offered him a position as second-in-command if he helped convince Soundwave that they needed to humanely terminate Megatron. Knock Out tried his best, pointing out that the brain activity Megatron was displaying just meant their leader was in a dream state from which he might never wake up. Soundwave remained unconvinced, and after an Autobot incursion severed Megatron's life support, Knock Out was forced to reconnect it. The medic later reported to Starscream that, though Megatron's body lived on, his brain activity had ceased. {{storylink|Sick Mind}}
He found Starscream in the middle of making a speech to Megatron's body and reminded Starscream of his rank. During the enacting of Starscream's new plan, Knock Out stood atop the ship's back, watching as a Vehicon activated a heat ray to melt a glacier. He ordered Breakdown to take care of Bulkhead and Arcee when the two Autobots turned up, but failed to notice Optimus approaching the ship from behind. The Autobot subsequently caused the heat ray to explode. {{storylink|Out of His Head}}
*Knock Out's [[license plate]] reads "JOFY 892".
*Some fans have interpreted Starscream's "you're one of ''those"'' line (referring to his car-mode preference), Knock Out's wolf-whistling appraisal of Optimus's truck mode, the vanity about his appearance, and [[Daran Norris]]'s somewhat campy performance to be clues that Knock Out is [[Transformer romance|gay]]. Moreover, the term "knockout" is commonly used to describe an attractive ''woman''. Make of all this what you will, as very little [[Humanization#Sexuality|robotic sexuality]] of any kind has been evident in ''Prime'' so far, outside of a lightly-implied connection between [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]] and Arcee.
*Knock Out is the first ''Prime'' Decepticon to debut after the pilot miniseries and survive the experience. Breakdown might be considered to share that distinction, but technically he debuted ''before'' the cartoon, as he appeared in the [[Transformers: War for Cybertron (games)|''War for Cybertron'' video games]] and the [[Transformers: Prime (comic)|''Prime'' comic]] first.
After the race started, he realized that one of the other cars taking part was [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and attacked the Autobot. He ended up grabbing what he assumed was Bumblebee's human pal, but was actually an unrelated human named [[Vince]]. Making off, he contacted Breakdown and they attempted to spring an ambush on the three Autobots who came to rescue the boy, but after [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] jumped on him, he decided to withdraw to avoid any more damage to his finish. Unfortunately he was caught by Optimus Prime, who ''ripped his door off'' while rescuing Vince. Faced with four Autobots, Knock Out fled back to the ''Nemesis'' only to face a very angry Starscream, who put a few more scratches in his finish. {{storylink|Speed Metal}}

Starscream offered him a position as second-in-command if he helped convince Soundwave that they needed to humanely terminate Megatron. Knock Out tried his best, pointing out that the brain activity Megatron was displaying just meant their leader was in a dream state from which he might never wake up. Soundwave remained unconvinced, and after an Autobot incursion severed Megatron's life support, Knock Out was forced to reconnect it. The medic later reported to Starscream that, though Megatron's body lived on, his brain activity had ceased. {{storylink|Sick Mind}}
During the enacting of Starscream's new plan, Knock Out stood atop the ship's back, watching as a Vehicon activated a heat ray to melt a glacier. He ordered Breakdown to take care of Bulkhead and Arcee when the two Autobots turned up, but failed to notice Optimus approaching the ship from behind. The Autobot subsequently caused the heat ray to explode. {{storylink|Out of His Head}}
:''Knock Out is a [[Decepticon]] from the [[Transformers: Prime (franchise)|Prime]] portion of the [[Aligned continuity family]].''
Sure, [[Starscream (Prime)|other Decepticons]] may scoff at his decision to go with a land-based alternate mode, but '''Knock Out''' couldn't care less. He knows the value of looking ''good'' and isn't afraid to let others know it. It's not simply his own lines he's interested in; he has an appreciation for well-built mechanical bodyforms of all sizes and functions... and a nasty penchant for tearing them apart after he's done admiring them. Slick, sly and snobbish, he's ostensibly the Decepticons' "medic", though he professes both a preference and proficiency for ''dis''-assembly.

Both in the operation room and on the battlefield, Knock Out is rarely without his brutish partner [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]]. Knock Out is the speedster of the duo, swiftly striking his victim's vulnerables with his [[Energon prod]] in debilitating sneak attacks while Breakdown goes the "massive smackdown" route with his raw power.
As they were on an [[energon (fuel)|energon]] trail at the time, only Knock Out initially turned up at the ship, and he was shocked at Megatron's condition. When Breakdown did join them, it was with news that he'd discovered an [[Energon Harvester]] was on [[Earth]]. As the [[Autobot]]s had already surrounded the museum the device was in, Knock Out and Breakdown organised a diversion at the front of the building. During the fight, Knock Out attacked [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] with his prod, but was flattened by [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] after the Autobot was punched by Breakdown. The two Decepticons sped off into the city after they saw that [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] had captured the Harvester. Knock Out subsequently accompanied Starscream and Breakdown to an [[energon (fuel)|energon]] seam in [[Greece]]. He and Breakdown got the opportunity to fight Bulkhead again, but came off decidedly second-best, and they both fled after the Harvester was destroyed and the other Autobots turned up. {{storylink|Deus ex Machina}}
==Synopsis==
On Earth, in their new base in the newly fortified [[Mount St. Hilary]], [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] has trouble working with the hardware salvaged from the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]''. [[Optimus Primal]] considers this as another reason they need help from the [[Maximal Elder|Maximal Elders]] to arrive soon as possible, but Rhinox doubts the help is coming. Yet as they speak, help from [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] is indeed coming—just not exactly the kind they were hoping for. In a sector declared off limits by the High Council, a mysterious Cybertronian hunts for Protoform X. However, his ship is soon pulled into a transwarp portal that suddenly appears.

[[Image:Deep Metal Inferno Rampage.jpg|left|200px|thumb|I'm going to shoot first, and you're not.]]
Outside the mountain, [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]] leads [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]] in a planned invasion of the Maximals' current base. But the stranger entering Earth's atmosphere distracts Rampage away from the exercise, leaving Inferno to attack the Maximals on his own. The fire ant is easily defeated by a rock. It was a pretty big rock.

[[Image:Deep Metal Depthcharge Cheetor.jpg|right|200px|thumb|I am Batmanta!]]
[[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] also notices the [[Starhopper|spacecraft]] descending into [[Grid Alpha Seven]] and flies to check it out. Receiving a radio contact from Cheetor, Primal heads out to join him. Cheetor watches the spacecraft landing in a body of water, but in the middle of a radio update to Optimus, Rampage fires a rocket to blast the Maximal out of the air, saying this is between him and the visitor. Underwater, the newly arrived Maximal, [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]], scans a manta for his beast mode and leaves his transport, eager to hunt Protoform X. Surveying the area, Depth Charge finds Cheetor sinking to the bottom of the water. Depth Charge rescues his fellow Maximal, but only gives his name and not much of anything else when he strands the cat-bot on an island.

Megatron, wondering where Rampage went after abandoning Inferno, sends [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] to hunt the giant crab.

Underwater again, Depth Charge homes in on his quarry's signal. However, what he finds are nothing but rocks. Rampage then jumps from the ground and latches onto Depth Charge, greeting the Maximal as his "old playmate". The two battle, and Depth Charge lifts their combat into the air. Rampage blasts the manta and forces the fight onto the beach, but finds himself impaled on a stalagmite. While the two giant Transmetals are disabled, Primal arrives and meets with Cheetor, who fills in the Maximal commander on what's happened and tells him of Depth Charge...a name that Primal recognizes.

[[Image:Deep Metal Rampage Depthcharge.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Come on, get up and fight like a fish!]]
Rampage heals and approaches Depth Charge, but Depth Charge awakens and fights back. The two show off their abilities, but Depth Charge wins the fight by throwing his tail-spike into Rampage's weaponry, causing explosive feedback. Quickstrike shows up and fires at Depth Charge with a disabling poison blast, but Primal easily takes out Quickstrike. But thanks to Quickstrike's interruption, Rampage has had the time to sneak away. Primal and Cheetor bring Depth Charge back to their base.

[[Image:Deep Metal Depthcharge Optimus.jpg|right|200px|thumb|You are too big!]]
As Depth Charge heals, Primal and Rhinox explain that Depth Charge was in charge of security for [[Colony Omicron]] before Protoform X devoured all the other inhabitants of it. Seeking vengeance, Depth Charge spent four stellar cycles hunting X before he captured the maniac and petitioned the [[Maximal High Council|High Council]] to find some way of executing him. Instead, Protoform X was placed on the ''Axalon'' to be dumped. Depth Charge thus followed the ''Axalon'' through [[transwarp]] by tracking X's energy signature, intending to finish the job he started.

Depth Charge awakens repaired and exits the CR Chamber. He blows off the Maximals, showing obvious contempt for Optimus Primal. He makes it out of the room before stopping short at the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'', and the Maximals explain the gravity of the situation. He leaves to go hunt Protoform X, with no interest in the rest of the Beast Wars and saving history. Cheetor wonders if he'll be back, and Optimus says that before Rampage, he would never have left.

Meanwhile, Rampage destroys the vehicle Depth Charge used to come to the planet.
==Notes==
[[Image:Starhopper deepmetal.jpg|right|200px|thumb|Just tell 'em it was custom-made for ya.]]
* The temporal anomaly that transports Depth Charge to prehistoric Earth is never fully explained. It causes him to transmetalize, which would presumably make it related (or at least similar) to the [[quantum surge]] produced when the [[Planet Buster]] was destroyed. But the surge was long gone from Earth space by that point. In physical form, the anomaly more closely resembles the warp portals used by the [[Vok]] and their constructs, so it could perhaps be related to the destruction of the [[Metal Hunter]]. And given its time-traveling properties, it could even be related to the time storm from "[[Optimal Situation]]". The show provided no further explanation.

*Depth Charge's space craft totally looks like his vehicular alt mode.
*Waspinator appears in this episode and does not get scrapped in any way. Run for the bomb shelters, it's the end of the world!
*Rampage somehow senses the approach of Depth Charge before Depth Charge has even crossed through the temporal anomaly. One of the many unexplained mysteries about the full extent of Protoform X's powers.
*This was the first episode to have underwater scenes.

===Technical/animation glitches===
*When Depth Charge first scans his beast form, he yells "Maximize" to transform to beast mode instead of saying "Beast mode." He does this many more times over the course of the season. It could be that Depth Charge has his activation code keyed for activating his alt-mode (now his beast mode), while most others prefer to use it for going to robot mode.
* As his computer warns him to activate a repair sequence after defeating Rampage, Depth Charge's hands suddenly have four fingers instead of three.

===Continuity errors===
*How ''is'' Rampage eluding [[Megatron (BW)|my]] scanners? Various episodes hinted that it might be related to Rampage hiding out underwater, but it's never made clear.

===Transformers references===
*The ground outside of the Ark's cave is rutted and charred, the result of the Maximals dragging in tons of salvaged ''Axalon'' bits behind the scenes in the previous episode.
*When Depth Charge first enters Earth's solar system, he is informed by his ship's navi-computer that the area was declared off-limits by order of the High Council. This particular bit of backstory never got explicitly mentioned on the show, but was spelled out by the story editors' posts on the Internet. Earth is off-limits because of some undecided-upon catastrophe, as well as to protect it from time-altering thieves such as Megatron.
*Notably, the episode refers to a "High Council" rather than the usual "Council of Elders" (and ''also'' refers to the Elders). This could just be an error, though if we take it literally then Cybertron has more than one branch of government; the Elders, however, are the ones who Rhinox says would send a rescue ship, so they'd be the primary Council.
