No one knows the dead quite as well as the Decepticon hypnotist, '''Mindwipe'''. A mysterious and mystical one, Mindwipe claims to have the powers to commune with [[Transformer]]s who have long since left this plane of existence. From Black Sabbaths to seances to super-conductive antennae, Mindwipe knows of many methods to reach those who now rest in peace.

Well...not really. He desperately ''wants'' to speak with the departed [[spark]]s of dead Decepticons, but all his labors to create antennae and receivers for the departed have had... "limited" success. In reality, all he's picking up are radio broadcasts of old [[Earth]] sitcoms, which he's actually become quite fond of. Still, some day, Mindwipe hopes to finally bridge the gap between the realm of the living and the [[Allspark|realm of the dead]]. Despite those shortcomings, Mindwipe is a formidable opponent, able to hypnotize and control both organic and mechanical lifeforms just by making eye contact, and with an eerie and potent precognitive "sixth sense." But sometimes he forgets this and, when the odds look stacked against him, Mindwipe's more than happy to turn tail and get while the getting's good. His loyalty lasts exactly as long as his bravery.

He is [[Binary bonding|binary bonded]] to the [[Nebulos|Nebulan]] [[Vorath]], a scientist. Yes, a scientist. They disagree on pretty much everything.

Mindwipe was one of [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]'s soldiers on Cybertron. After [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]'s unit abandoned Cybertron, Scorponok received word they had come to the planet called [[Nebulos]], and brought a strike team to that world in order to exact revenge. After kidnapping the Nebulans who called them to this world, Scorponok gave them to Mindwipe to use for his experiments. Mindwipe removed [[Monzo]] from his cage and placed him in front of a machine that enclosed the Nebulan in a polymer membrane bubble. After a shot from [[Skullcruncher]]'s anti-gravity gun, Monzo went floating up through an opening in the roof, but the bubble popped, prompting Mindwipe to catch Monzo so as to not waste a "good laboratory animal."

But before further experiments could be performed, [[Lord Zarak]], one of their Nebulan prisoners, suggested that the Decepticons [[binary bond]] with them to become [[Headmasters]], so that they could match the power of the Autobots who had recently gone under this process themselves. When the Decepticons next met the Autobots in battle, Mindwipe was now bonded with Vorath, and the two sides were evenly matched. To tip the odds, Mindwipe hypnotized members of the [[Council of Peers]] and Zarak's daughter, [[Llyra]], into getting enclosed in the same polymer bubbles that Monzo had previously. After the Autobots saved the Nebulans, Mindwipe and the other Headmaster Decepticons shot the Autobots in the backs. Lord Zarak presented himself, Mindwipe, and the others are Nebulos's true heroes. {{storylink|Love and Steel!}}

The Decepticon Headmasters struck next at the [[Mercury Gardens of Melanossus]], where they faced the [[Monsterbot]]s. Once the Nebulan partners combined with their Decepticon bodies, the Monsterbots were overwhelmed and forced to retreat. Vorath detached from Mindwipe again when the [[Nebulan News Network|media]] arrived, while Zarak explained that even though the Gardens were destroyed in the process, this was a victory for Nebulos. {{storylink|Brothers in Armor!!}}

Mindwipe detected the signal that the Autobots were drawn to on Earth, and found that it originated from an [[Ark (G1)|abandoned Autobot headquarters]] inside a [[Mount St. Hilary|volcano]] cavern. But Fortress Maximus's Autobots weren't far, and the Decepticons fought them once again. Mindwipe and the others were stampeded out of the volcano when Fortress Maximus picked up a new Headmaster partner, the Earth human [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]]. {{storylink|Trial by Fire!}}

While his scientifically inclined partner Vorath helped Scorponok create [[Pretender]] technology, Mindwipe watched silently in bat mode, probably muttering to himself about how magic is totally better. {{storylink|Pretender to the Throne!}}

''Scorponok put Mindwipe's hypnotic powers to use setting a trap for [[Highbrow (G1)|Highbrow]], by having him mesmerize some humans who then led the Autobot Headmaster into a deep wood. The trap sprung, Highbrow attempted to flee, but Mindwipe pursued and used his powers to give him a severe case of amnesia. Scorponok tried to convince the brainwashed Highbrow that he was really a Decepticon, but Highbrow remained ill at ease, so the Decepticons tried to defuse the tense atmosphere by transforming their heads into Nebulan mode. Unfortunately, it was at this point that they discovered Mindwipe's fatal mistake: He had neglected to also blank the mind of Highbrow's partner, [[Gort]]. Gort knocked out Vorath, taking Mindwipe out of the fight, and then recombined with Highbrow, restoring his memory. Once Mindwipe retrieved the head and restored it to Scorponok's shoulders, the rest of his team was shunted to [[Limbo]] and replaced by a group of Decepticons from 2009 led by [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]]. After some misunderstandings were ironed out, Mindwipe and the two other Decepticons not limboed away formed a temporary alliance with the Autobots, the future Autobots, and the future Decepticons against the time-traveling [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]. But the alliance was short-lived; when the future [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] accidentally shot Scorponok, Mindwipe joined his fellow present-day Decepticons in tearing Ultra Magnus apart. Inevitably, Scorponok's band of Earthbound Decepticons met with [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]'s band of Earthbound Decepticons, and a group including Mindwipe was given a really boring tour by [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] of Ratbat's [[Club Con|island headquarters]]. When the tour's star attraction, the kidnapped [[Buster Witwicky (G1)|Buster Witwicky]], unwittingly let slip that Ratbat was searching for a powerful artifact called the [[Underbase]], Scorponok was enraged. Scorponok took Mindwipe and the others to confront Ratbat for hording such information, and a civil war broke out between the two Decepticon camps. {{storylink|Cold War!}} Soon the Autobots as well were drawn to the island base, and the Decepticons put aside their differences to fight the surprised Autobots. Mindwipe was quick to maul the hapless [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]]. {{storylink|Dark Star}}

In the wake of the [[Underbase Saga]], Scorponok took command of the remnants of the Decepticon army and established a headquarters under a garbage dump in [[New Jersey]], across the river from [[New York City]]. He had Mindwipe engineer an energy conversion machine to convert power into [[Energon]], and all he needed was for a cable to be laid across the river, connected to an electrostator placed at the top of the [[Empire State Building]]. Unfortunately, [[Iguanus (G1)|Iguanus]] failed at this and seemingly perished. {{storylink|King Con!}}

The Decepticons scrambled once again when the [[Micromaster]] [[Air Strike Patrol]] summoned them to [[MacDill Air Force Base]] after the wayward new recruits, facing Optimus Prime and the entire Autobot army, were seemingly over their heads. Though both Optimus Prime and Scorponok privately suspected someone had arranged for this altercation, a fight broke out regardless. Mindwipe got punched in the batface by [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]], while the Air Strike Patrol made their quiet retreat. {{storylink|The Resurrection Gambit!}} Mindwipe recuperated and joined Scorponok in advancing on the Autobots, just as Optimus Prime, strangely, called all his troops other than himself to return to the Ark. Scorponok was suspicious, and Mindwipe suggested that some powerful weapon was hidden inside the Autobots' [[All-Terrain Turbo-Transport|shuttlecraft]]. Mindwipe and the others rushed Optimus Prime as he tried to stop Scorponok from firing on the shuttlecraft, but Prime, who was quickly becoming frustrated with the day's events, was able to overpower all of them. As Optimus pleaded to Scorponok to stop fighting and determine the mastermind who was pulling their strings, they were interrupted by a huge hint: Starscream had arrived, reborn as a Pretender. {{storylink|All the Familiar Faces!}} Curiouser still, Mindwipe was shocked as Starscream claimed he had been sent by [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], also believed to be dead! As Starscream's Pretender shell trounced Optimus Prime, Scorponok half-heartedly ordered Mindwipe and [[Weirdwolf]] to help him. Mindwipe learned the hard way that his hypnotic power had no effect on the new Starscream, just before Starscream suddenly reverted to his classic cowardly self and begged for mercy. {{storylink|Skin Deep}}

Scorponok reluctantly allowed Starscream back into their ranks, a decision that began to turn his troops against him. Mindwipe was one of the most vocal members of this retaliation, and pointed to the hole Starscream had put in his chest. He reminded Scorponok that Starscream was a chronic traitor, but Scorponok rebuked him, noting that Starscream was a powerful warrior needed to bolster their ranks, and was better kept close so they could monitor his actions. {{storylink|Primal Scream}} But when Starscream went missing, Mindwipe and [[Triggerhappy]] decided they'd had enough and left Scorponok's command. Ironically enough, they ran into Starscream himself and joined his small band of Decepticons against Scorponok. {{storylink|Eye of the Storm}} Mindwipe and Triggerhappy returned with Starscream, [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]], and [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] to Shockwave's underwater headquarters, where they learned that their forces also included the [[Battlecharger]]s. With only seven on their team, Mindwipe was not impressed and expressed doubts, but when Starscream told him that they'd either fight for them or be executed, he quickly changed his mind.

Immediately, the seven flew to Scorponok's base and fired into it from the air, collapsing it on an Autobot/Decepticon alliance that had been forming. {{storylink|Surrender!}} Once again, Mindwipe was the designated worrier. Though the collapsed base showed no signs of life, if Scorponok had survived, he said their best bet was to get while the getting was good. Triggerhappy agreed, and Starscream silently pitied their cowardice. Unfortunately for Starscream, Mindwipe was right, and Scorponok burst out of the ground to deal with them. Shockwave ordered Mindwipe and the others to rush Scorponok, an idea that was not popular with Mindwipe, and for good reason. Scorponok shrugged off their attacks. Mindwipe and Starscream subsequently concerned themselves with Scorponok's troops while Scorponok battled his equal, Shockwave. {{storylink|...All This and Civil War 2}}

Mindwipe put his magic powers to good use and hypnotized Field Commander [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] with the intention of controlling the troops through him. It was a good plan! And [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] agreed! At gunpoint, Mindwipe told Soundwave to tell all the other Decepticons to lay down their arms in service of the Autobot/Decepticon alliance against [[Unicron]] -- just in time for every Transformer on Earth to be warped to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] by their creator, [[Primus]]. {{storylink|Out of Time!}} Mindwipe watched with the other warped Transformers as Primus explained to them the history between himself and Unicron, and that the Transformers' destiny was to defeat him. {{storylink|The Void! Once the massive planet-sized Unicron arrived, Mindwipe and the other Transformers froze in terror. After watching [[Brainstorm]] get eaten by the Chaos Bringer, Mindwipe regained enough of his faculties to be able to run away. The Transformers did eventually come around and face their destined adversary, but it did not end well for Mindwipe. As Unicron tore an avatar of the [[Creation Matrix]] to pieces, the resulting shockwave sent what was left of Mindwipe's body flying. {{storylink|On the Edge of Extinction!}}

After having been thrown out of the Decepticon army for trying to hypnotize Scorponok into making him leader, Mindwipe devised a master scheme of his own. He manufactured thousands of thought-sensitive [[Sleepfast]]™ night lights, selling them to humans on the novelty that they actually turned on or off just by thinking at them. Little did the humans know, however, that repetitive use of the night lights had a subliminal mind-control effect. Over time, Mindwipe would have gained an army of human slaves! Luckily for Humanity, the Autobots [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] and [[Snarl (G1)|Snarl]] came to investigate, and they confronted Mindwipe in his storage facility. He was beaten by his own night lights when the Autobots suddenly thought "Lights on!" in a darkened room, turning on thousands of Sleepfasts™ at once and temporarily blinding the Decepticon.

Mindwipe was still a part of the Decepticons after [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] took back control of the army from [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]]. He was involved in the disastrous first encounter between Megatron's troops and [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]]'s [[Cybertronian (faction)|Cybertronian Empire]]. After Megatron was literally knocked out of orbit by Jhiaxus and plummeted to the planet below, Mindwipe joined [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]], [[Drag Strip]] and [[Weirdwolf]] in looking for their fallen leader. He was in the midst of voicing the selfish but sensible idea of abandoning Megatron to his fate and gettin' the slag outta there when Drag Strip found their commander. {{storylink|New Dawn}}

After an all-too-brief period of peace following the resurrection of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], Mindwipe was one of the many Decepticons who attacked [[Autobot City]] in 2007, creating a huge distraction to cover for [[Pounce]] and [[Wingspan]]'s theft of the key to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]]. During the battle, Mindwipe used his hypnotic powers to seize control of [[Lightspeed (G1 Technobot)|Lightspeed]]'s mind, forcing him to back away, over the edge of a nearby cliff and into the lake below. The Autobots were able to steal back the key, but not before it was used to briefly open the Plasma Energy Chamber, releasing a bolt of energy that hurled a group of Autobots, and the key, across the galaxy to the planet Nebulos. Mindwipe was among the Decepticons sent to Nebulos in pursuit of the key, and he participated in the first battle on the planet. When the Decepticons were forced to retreat, [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] instructed them to gather the fallen Autobots so they could torture them for information on the key's location, but Mindwipe went one better, seizing the not-fallen-at-all [[Crosshairs (G1)|Crosshairs]] and dragging him off. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

In order to rescue their allies, the Autobots became [[binary bonding|binary bonded]] to a group of Nebulan rebels as powerful "Headmasters". Defeated in battle by this new breed of Autobot, Mindwipe and the Decepticons were sent fleeing into the Nebulan wilderness, where they were then accosted by the mentally-controlled machines of Nebulos's evil ruling council, the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]]. The Decepticons were brought to the Hive's underground city, where their ruler, Lord Zarak, proposed that they join to become Headmasters as well. Naturally, the Decepticons were not responsive, until Zarak forced them to agree by attacking them with more of their machine servants. Mindwipe's head was subsequently removed and re-engineered to become an exo-suit for the Hive scientist Vorath, but the partnership had immediate teething troubles when Vorath bemoaned that fact that someone of his rank had been paired with a "mangy night-scavenger". Warning him that his mystic powers could trump anything science had to offer, Mindwipe mesmerized Vorath and forced him to combine with him.

The newly-empowered Decepticons proceeded to attack the Autobots, and in the midst of the fighting, Mindwipe used his extra-sensory powers to deduce that the Autobot Brainstorm was carrying the Plasma Energy Chamber key. Mindwipe tried asking forcefully, but when that did work, he just let Vorath shoot the Autobot so they could steal the key from his fallen body. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 2}}

With the key recovered, the Decepticons and their new Hive allies all returned to Cybertron to help [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] overcome the Autobots on the planet. Mindwipe personally took down [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] in the fight, with a little help from [[Weirdwolf]] and [[Apeface]]. Galvatron then used the key to open the chamber with the intention of destroy Cybertron and Earth; although his plan was foiled, as Mindwipe and the Decepticons were escaping aboard [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], a stray tendril of plasma energy sent them hurtling off into the depths of space. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 3}}

In the closing days of 2010, while significant Transformer battles were being waged on Earth and across space, Mindwipe and the other Decepticon Headmasters were running from their Autobot counterparts on the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]]. The Decepticons appeared to flee by leaping into a chasm, but moments later, they burst up through the ground to catch their pursuers unaware. Unfortunately for the villains, the Autobots were able to sneak away under cover of the dust cloud their emergence created, leaving [[Weirdwolf]] and [[Skullcruncher]] to mistakenly beat up Mindwipe. The Decepticons soon realized their error, but the Autobots then crashed into them in vehicle mode, ending the fight. At that point, the Decepticon ninja [[Sixshot]] arrived and instructed them to follow him back to [[Chaar]]. Four million years ago, Mindwipe was among a group of [[Cyberdroid|diminutive Cybertronians]] who departed Cybertron under the leadership of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]], seeking to escape the eternal war that had consumed the planet. {{storylink|The Mystery of Planet Master}} Alas, engine trouble caused their craft to crash land on the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]], an inhospitable world whose murderous environments and wildly changeable atmospheric conditions threatened the lives of the Cybertronians. Fighting against the odds, the Cybertronians made several technological quantum leaps to survive on Master, including the creation of larger, lifeless Transformer bodies called [[Transtector]]s. In the year 2011, Mindwipe and his fellow Headmasters [[Weirdwolf]] and [[Skullcruncher]] joined Galvatron's Decepticons in a massive attack on Cybertron, seeking to seize control of the destabilized [[Vector Sigma]] and establish a Decepticon hold over the planet through the computer. Mindwipe's hypnotic powers proved instrumental in the battle, as he put [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] to sleep, but Galvatron was less than impressed, since he also accidentally knocked out Skullcruncher with the technique. Undeterred, Mindwipe put his powers into play again a short time later, taking out Grimlock (again!), [[Slag (G1)|Slag]] and the [[Throttlebot]]s, and leaving the entrance to the computer base wide open. Soon after, Mindwipe accompanied Galvatron to Earth to help interfere in the Autobots' search for the missing [[Matrix of Leadership]], which could restore balance to Vector Sigma. The villains caught up to [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] just as he located the Matrix, and Mindwipe tried using his hypnotism to stop him, only to be beaten down by [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]]. Hot Rod and the Autobot Headmasters quickly pulled out, heading for Cybertron with the Matrix, and Mindwipe and the Decepticons gave chase, leading to a showdown in Vector Sigma's chamber. [[Bumblebee (G1)|Goldbug]] helped his team-mates over come the effect, and he and Rollbar tried to haul Mindwipe out of the sky. Under the orders of Scorponok, Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters attacked an Autobot energy outpost on Earth and killed all those stationed there. Before slaying the last survivors, Mindwipe hypnotised him into sending a message to Rodimus Prime, summoning him and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] there with news of a new energy discovery. The two Autobots discovered the deception immediately upon arrival, but it was too late: Mindwipe and his partners in crime had already departed to the planet [[Praum]], where they watched as Scorponok sprang a trap on the Autobot Headmasters. The Autobots overcame the trap by switching heads to boost their power, so the Decepticons tried doing the same (with Mindwipe taking over Weirdwolf's Transtector), but they still got thrashed. {{storylink|The Four-Million-Year-Old Veil of Mystery}} After this defeat, Mindwipe and his chums decided to sit out the next mission, and played cards instead. {{storylink|Terror! When Vector Sigma developed a powerful new alloy named [[cybertonuron]], Mindwipe was among the Decepticons who invaded the planet seeking to take possession of it for Galvatron. Scorponok, however, disliked the idea of seeing the alloy in Galvatron's hands, and so resolved instead to destroy Cybertron, and the cybertonuron with it. {{storylink|Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1}} Mindwipe was given the unenviable task of transporting a clutch of bombs into Cybertron's depths, but even with the Autobot Headmaster nipping at his heels, he succeeded in his task, setting up the explosives in Vector Sigma's chamber and activating their timers. He taunted Chromedome with the fact that the bombs could not be deactivated, then transformed to bat mode and made himself scarce with all due speed. With Galvatron apparently destroyed, Scorponok seized command of the Decepticons, and as his first order of business, had Mindwipe, Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher steal the [[Solar 1]] satellite. {{storylink|The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok}} As part of Scorponok's plan to keep the Autobots' attentions focused on Earth, Mindwipe and his fellow Headmasters accompanied the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacons]] in menacing a small South American village. To keep the Autobots at bay during the battle, Mindwipe threatened the life of a local boy named [[Pipiro]], but was thwarted by the heroic actions of Pipiro's pet donkey [[Koro]]. Scorponok's plans came to a head when he plotted to destroy [[Mars (planet)|Mars]], and sent the Decepticon Headmasters to the planet to place a series of [[plasma energy]] bombs beneath its crust. After doing so, the villainous trio engaged the Autobot Headmasters on Mars's surface, and fooled the heroes with an elaborate trick: during the fight, Hardhead managed to get Mindwipe to "accidentally" hypnotize Skullcruncher, so that he would reveal the location of the bombs. Following Skullcruncher's co-ordinates, the Autobots were actually caught in a pre-prepared trap, and when Fortress arrived to save them, Mindwipe and his fellows got particularly crafty, blasting him with a plasma energy bomb in mid-transformation! {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger}} Mindwipe and the Decepticons then withdrew to the planet [[Zarak (planet)|Zarak]], where Scorponok unveiled his secret project: a giant Transtector of his own! The Headmasters boarded Scorponok's giant new body and returned with him to Mars, putting the finishing touches to the bombing set-up while he battled Fortress. Mindwipe subsequently attended the coronation of Scorponok on Earth's [[moon (moon)|moon]], but during the event, Galvatron abruptly returned, alive and well, and retook leadership. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} Soon after, when Galvatron had him try to interfere with an Autobot energy run to the planet [[Sandra]], Mindwipe got kicked around by the Autobots pretty badly. The appearance of two unknown robots in the vicinity of Chaar set off alarm bells for Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters, and they immediately attacked the newcomers. Mindwipe tried hypnotizing the one with a dragon alternate mode, but was promptly swatted out of the sky by its tail, at which point Galvatron arrived to inform them that these were actually their old allies from Master, [[Apeface]] and [[Snapdragon]]. Mindwipe, Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher subsequently went to Earth with the two new arrivals to serve as bodyguards for Galvatron while he negotiated a potential peace with [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]]. When the negotiation was discovered to be a Decepticon ruse to cover their preparations for an interplanetary energy raid, a fight broke out, and Mindwipe got smacked around by [[Kaen]]. The Decepticons' started their energy gathering by attacking the planets [[Susei]] {{storylink|Fight to the Death on Susei!!}} and [[Twin Star]] for energy, but Mindwipe didn't really have much to get up to, and entertained himself on the journey between planets by watching asteroids fly by. {{storylink|Battle for Defense of the False Planet}} When the Decepticons set down on the planet [[Darhos]], however, Mindwipe and the Headmasters were given a special task by Scorponok: hunt down the [[Beastformer]] [[Tekna]], who had helped build his Transtector and who was currently imprisoned in a penal colony on the planet, and kill him. Mindwipe and his foul fellows took pleasure in massacring every inmate in the prison, but Tekna managed to escape their wrath long enough to give the Autobots information on the secret weak spot of Scorponok's Transtector. {{storylink|Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!}}

On the Decepticons' next target planet, [[Paradise]], Mindwipe was able to get the drop on Highbrow and tried to subdue him with his hypnotic powers. Highbrow fought off the effect long enough to take to the air, so Mindwipe simply shot him down and allowed Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher to beat him into submission. When Highbrow's fellow Autobots came to rescue him, Skullcruncher seized Brainstorm so Mindwipe could punch him, but of course, Brainstorm ducked, and Mindwipe wound up clocking Skullcrunching instead. {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}} Mindwipe then participated in the battle on [[Pirate Planet]]. {{storylink|Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship}}

Upon returning to Earth, Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters were assigned a secret mission by Scorponok, sneaking into an Autobot outpost in their small robot mode and planting explosives that wiped out the base personnel. With the base now in their clutches, the trio planet one of a series of explosives beneath it. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus Dies!!}} They then helped Scorponok plant another explosive in Alaska, though their activities were briefly interrupted by a wide-ranging battle between Galvatron and the Autobot Headmasters that concluded with the Decepticon leader's destruction. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}} This allowed Scorponok to take control of the Decepticons once again, and he dispatched Mindwipe and the Headmasters to plant the final explosive on the Kamchatka Penninsula. When detonated, this string of explosives would trigger every volcano on the [[Pacific Ring of Fire]] and tear the Earth apart. Luckily, before the bombs could be triggered, Chromedome deduced the location of Scorponok's weak spot, and Fortress Maximus exploited it to critically damage the Decepticon leader. Mindwipe and the Decepticons withdrew with Scorponok to their old home of planet Master, where they terrorized the locals until the Autobots arrived to stop them. Mindwipe tried hitting Highbrow with his hypnotic waves again, but Brainstorm stepped in to take him down. The Decepticons sought revenge by capturing Chromedome's friend [[Jack (Headmasters)|Jack]], planting a bomb in him, and having Mindwipe hypnotize him into walking into the heart of the Autobot camp. Chromedome was able to break Mindwipe's control over his friend, but alas, it did not save Jack's life. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)}}

Mindwipe, Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher observed as Scorponok processed [[G-Metal]] from ore found beneath Master's surface, which he would use to forge a weapon to counter Fortress's [[Master Sword]]. The three Headmasters then captured [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] and ransomed for information on the Master Sword, allowing Scorponok to counter its powers. {{storylink|The Master Sword Is in Danger!!}}

With this data in their hands, the Decepticons briefly withdrew from Master to throw the Autobots off their tail, hiding in a field of space debris where Mindwipe and Weirdwolf teased Skullcruncher for confusing the space rocks with aliens. Their trail suitably cold, they then returned to Master and headed underground so Scorponok could build his "[[Zarak Shield]]". {{storylink|The Zarak Shield Turns the Tide}} A mighty battle against the Decepticons followed, with the Autobots backed up by the young warriors of Master, during which Mindwipe took a shot at hypnotizing Chromedome, only to once again accidentally put Skullcruncher to sleep. Luckily, Mindwipe's mistake did not adversely affect the fight, and with the battle won, the Decepticons quickly departed Master, heading back to Earth. {{storylink|Operation: Destroy the Decepticons}} On the way, they were separated from [[Sixshot]] {{storylink|My Friend Sixshot!}} and when they set down on the asteroid [[Pallas]] for repairs, Mindwipe opined that they wouldn't be seeing the ninja again. Once back on Earth, Scorponok immediately had the Decepticons begin setting up "Death Towers" at strategic points around the globe, forged from the [[crysmag metal]] of the lost continent of [[Lemuria (G1)|Lemuria]]. Attempting to defend the tower set up in Egypt, Mindwipe, Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher unveiled their newest technique: the "Trio Formation", an odd move that involved them stacking on top of each other like a totem pole. The mode was not exactly a success, as Apeface and Snapdragon thought to get in on the action and wound up toppling it over. The Headmasters' tomfoolery notwithstanding, the Egyptian Death Tower was successfully raised, creating an energy-channelling circuit of towers around the Earth that threatened to rip the planet apart. To stop the Decepticons' plan, the Autobots faced their whole army down in a massive final battle at the North Pole, during which Mindwipe turned his hypnotic powers on Chromedome and Hardhead, but was stopped by [[Blaster (G1)|Twincast]] and his [[Autobot Mini-Cassette|cassettes]]. Shortly after their failure to seize control of Vector Sigma, Galvatron led Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters in a rather direct plan to destroy Battleship Maximus: They would lure it into space, and then Mindwipe would, uh, just throw a bomb inside. Unsurprisingly, this plan met with failure when the speedy Chromedome was able to snatch the bomb right out of Mindwipe's hands before he even had the chance to hurl it. {{storylink|The Headmasters issue 1|The Headmasters #1}}

Mindwipe and the Decepticons later made a return to planet Beest, where they were able to capture Highbrow and Brainstorm. Mindwipe and his partners wanted to take the two Autobots' Transtectors for themselves, but their evil scheme was foiled by the Beastformers' human ally [[Kane]], who threw rocks at them and got them to chase him, thereby giving the Autobots time to escape. After attacking an Alaskan power plant, Mindwipe, Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher were prepared for the arrival of the Autobot Headmasters. Catching their heroic foes unawares, the three villains were able to stop them from combining with their Transtectors, leaving them seemingly helpless before the vicious animal modes of the trio's own bestial Transtectors. Mindwipe and his allies proceeded to hunt the Headmasters through the Alaskan wilderness, until they were tricked into making a pounce that allowed the Autobots to leap over them and rejoin with their Transtectors. Mindwipe and company could only watch and hug each other for support as the four Autobots blasted the everlovin' bejeezus out of the Decepticons' unmanned Transtectors. {{storylink|The Headmasters issue 2|The Headmasters #2}}

In addition to all their other faults, Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters proved themselves to be a bunch of Scrooges when they attacked a Christmas party the Autobots were attending at a Japanese childrens' hospital. Mindwipe viciously blasted Highbrow as the Autobot was attempting to protect a crippled boy named [[Masato]], and while he did injure Highbrow, his evil deed did have a good side-effect: Masato was so consumed with emotion at the sight of Highbrow's wounding, he found the strength of will to walk again! This didn't mean anything to Mindwipe, who came zeroing back in to finish the fleshie off, but Chromedome quickly leapt into action and shot Mindwipe down. Incensed by this failure, Giga decided to reduce Ginrai's power level by destroying Godbomber. Overlord later adopted his base mode for the first time to act as a staging ground for the search for the final Godmaster. The search came to an abruptly end, however, when the Godmaster himself, [[Clouder]], sought out the Decepticons, and the villains decided to use his ability to adopt two robot forms to install him as a double agent within the Autobot ranks. {{storylink|Appearance!! Soon thereafter, BlackZarak returned to Earth, and the Decepticons began "Operation M-1" to cut a swathe of devastation across the Earth. While BlackZarak tore through [[New York City|New York]], Overlord landed in the heart of [[Paris]], decimating military resistance and destroying the Arc de Triomphe. With these cities in ruins, the two Decepticons began to converge on Tokyo; while passing over China, Overlord landed on the Great Wall and broadcasted a message to the leaders of the world, warning them to surrender or witness Tokyo's destruction. Overlord then carried on his way, easily defeating [[Metalhawk]], [[Phoenix]] and [[Diver (Masterforce)|Diver]] when they attempted to block his path. Overlord and BlackZarak soon arrived in Tokyo, and with no surrender forthcoming, began razing the city. After a battle with [[Lightfoot]] in southern Europe, {{storylink|God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?}} Overlord tried a more underhanded tactic, capturing Autobot Headmaster Junior [[Shūta Gō]], and using him as a bargaining chip to bring Ginrai to the Decepticon base. The battle that followed was distinctly one-sided, as Ginrai was unable to fight back due to Shūta being in danger, but this suddenly took an unexpected turn when Decepticon Junior [[Cancer]] turned on his teammates and freed Shūta. Even as the shocked Overlord commanded him to stop, Ginrai got back in the fight, and flattened Overlord before escaping with Shūta and Cancer. {{storylink|God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base}} With the information Cancer provided them, the Autobots were able to stage an all-out attack on the Decepticon base, during which Overlord again battled Ginrai. Overlord was willing to engage the Autobot Godmasters, but the merged Devil Z/BlackZarak entity held him back and instead buried them under an avalanche. Meanwhile, Ginrai again defeated Hydra and Buster, and the two brothers limped back to the peak of the Matterhorn, where Devil Z turned on them for their failure. Overlord was selected to be one of those Generals and was given new power and weaponry to make him an even greater threat than before. At Violen Jiger's instruction, Overlord was sent to the planet [[Feminia]] to wreak havoc along with [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]] and [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]]. Together, the three Decepticon Demon Generals destroyed the entire planet and nearly killed Autobot [[Supreme Commander]] [[Star Saber (Victory)|Victory Saber]] in the process.

As BlackZarak turned to face the approaching Ginrai, the cunning Autobot swiftly ducked out of the way, causing Overlord and BlackZarak to attack each other. Overlord's base mode was employed by the Decepticon to hold Shūta Gō and [[Cab]] prisoner, when they attempted to torture the two boys into becoming members of the Decepticons. From the top of [[Qomolangma]], Overlord rained destruction down on the world using the Decepticons' newest weapon, the [[A.O. Laser]]. When Ginrai and Godbomber arrived to stop him, Overlord turned the laser on them; they dodged, but they had failed to observe the presence of the Decepticons' newest member, the Godmaster Clouder, who reflected the laser beam back at them and knocked them out of the sky. Unfortunately for Overlord, a chance comment from Cancer insulting Clouder's falcon mode plunged the Godmaster into such a rage that he turned on his Decepticon allies and blew up the A.O. Laser in Overlord's hands. Although Ginrai had been temporarily blinded by the A.O. Laser, the Headmaster Juniors were able to serve as his eyes and point him in the right direction to unleash his "God Punch" attack, which clobbered Overlord so hard that Giga and Mega actually popped out of his chest. {{storylink|Decepticons' Great Counterattack!}}

Soon thereafter, when the Autobots were off-Earth visiting their space-based allies, BlackZarak was able to return to Earth, and he and Overlord took the opportunity to attack a city. The Autobots soon returned with, and Ginrai and Godbomber grappled with Overlord, forcing him to separate back into the Megajet and Gigatank. The two Autobots clung onto the separate Transtectors, however, refusing to let them escape, as they waited for the new weapon they had brought back from space, the [[VX Bomb]] to detonate. The explosion came seconds later, knocking Mega and Giga's Transtectors offline, but Ginrai and Godbomber survived by combining into God Ginrai. {{storylink|Live? Die?! When BlackZarak attacked a city, Cancer happened to be here, and BlackZarak showed his disdain for humans by using the boy as a bargaining chip to prevent the Autobots from interfering with his deviltry. Horrified at this treatment of Cancer, Overlord viciously attacked BlackZarak, rescuing Cancer from his grip, but while they were fighting, it allowed the Autobots to take down both of them. {{storylink|Great Turn-Around! In light of this act of treachery by Overlord, it was perhaps not surprising that in the midst of his next battle with Ginrai, Overlord himself was the subject of a betrayal. In an attempt to transform himself into the ultimate lifeform, Devil Z fused with BlackZarak, and then turned on Overlord and the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors, attempting to drain theirs and Ginrai's [[Chōkon Power|Jinchōkon]] and take it for his own. They were saved by the Autobot Pretenders, who blocked the Jinchōkon-absorbing beam, and Overlord decided to join with the Autobots in defeating Devil Z. Overlord joined with all the other Transformers in combining their energies into the "Perfect Transform Attack", which finally destroyed BlackZarak and Devil Z once and for all. With the alien's death, the Transformers' Transtectors were brought to life as true super-robot lifeforms, Overlord's included. Alas, Devil Z's energies had also been sustaining the lives of Giga and Mega, and his death also resulted in theirs. When the Zone Base transformed into battle mode and opened fire on the Decepticons, Overlord called retreat, seeing no need to stay and fight when the prize was already theirs. In the days before the Cybertronian civil war, Overlord was an avid spectator of [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]'s gladiatorial matches. Like many, this led him to join the charismatic pit fighter's army and bear the badge of the Decepticons. {{storylink|Megatron Origin issue 2|Megatron Origin #2}}

However, Overlord perhaps didn't join for the right reasons. He was enthralled not with the loftiness of the Decepticon cause that Megatron espoused, but more with the glorious excess of the gladiator battles and the freedom of making entire worlds his arena. To Overlord, the ends didn't matter overly much when the ''means'' themselves were this pleasurable. As a result his tactics developed a reputation as unsound, and his schemes as nothing more than flights of brutal whimsy. Unlike [[Scorponok (G1)|many]] [[Shockwave (G1)|other]] powerful Decepticons, he had no interest in command, only in taking his slaughter to the next stage. Megatron was not convinced, however, believing the image of Overlord as simply interested in killing to be a façade, and began searching for a way to exert greater control over him.

During the early years of the war, on [[Caldoon 4]] Overlord slaughtered a battalion of Autobots before making his way to a meeting which involved [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], [[Sixshot]] and [[Black Shadow]]. It was here he was informed that Megatron had finalized his [[infiltration protocol]] and that the assembled Decepticons would be his "phase sixers"; three extremely powerful warriors who would visit planets on the verge of collapse and wipe out any possible resistance. While Black Shadow and Sixshot merely declared "For the Decepticons", Overlord was less pleased at the idea of simply being a weapon to point and shoot. When he asked what if he aspired for something more, Megatron informed him of two options; either do as he was told or refuse, in which case Megatron would hunt him down and rend him limb from limb.

Overlord was sobered by this ultimatum, but only momentarily. Overlord returned to the battle outside, and messily dispatched every Autobot save one. Overlord held [[Kup (G1)|Kup]]'s limp form, shattered but alive, and told him to let Megatron know that he'd chosen option two. Overlord transformed and left the planet, remarking that he'd be waiting for his former leader when the time came to make good on his ultimatum.

Years later, at the height of the cross-galactic Decepticon uprising, Overlord arrived on [[Garrus-9]] during an assault that was being led by [[Skyquake (G1)|Skyquake]]. Announcing that he had his own plans for the prison planet, he requested that Skyquake turn command over to him. When the [[Predator]] general refused, insisting they carry out the raid as per Megatron's orders, Overlord casually killed him and established his own leadership. After the prison planet fell and he defeated [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] personally, Overlord decided to turn the Garrus-9 into his home away from home. A year later, some of the Decepticons had begun to have doubts about their sadistic leader. Overlord caught [[Fearswoop (G1)|Fearswoop]] criticizing his lack of sportsmanship, and the [[Trakkon]] was happy to end the conversation alive. Two Decepticons that Overlord had let torture [[Spin-Out|an Autobot prisoner]] let the Autobot get one lucky shot in, and Overlord killed the Autobot and then both the Decepticons. "Any Decepticons ''that'' careless are wasting their lives. And more valuably... ''my'' time." Overlord ordered the Predators to carry the Autobot body away to be recycled as [[Snare]] pondered their predicament. Around this time, he released Shockwave from confinement and let him leave with a hand-picked crew, in return for the Achilles Virus being removed. He revealed to Shockwave that he was lying to the Decepticons that they could "''fight'' their way to freedom"... to which Shockwave responded that while Overlord ''thought'' he was enjoying himself, all the terror experiments and horrorshows were just an attempt to get Megatron's attention. Two years later, Overlord and his Decepticons watched the captive Autobot [[Kick-Off (G1)|Kick-Off]] battle the Decepticon [[Borehole]] for his amusement. When Kick-Off brutally decapitated Borehole, Overlord was pleased. Soon, the [[Wrecker]]s arrived on Garrus-9. With no small amount of skill, they were able to break through the planetary defenses inside two escape pods. Unfortunately, the pods were badly damaged in the attempt and crashed. As stowaway [[Verity Carlo]] pulled herself from her pod, she found herself at Overlord's feet. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 2|Last Stand of the Wreckers #2}}

As the Wreckers pulled themselves from the wreckage of their pod, Overlord disappointedly stated he had been expecting a team of Decepticons sent by Megatron but instead only got some Autobots. He didn't agree with Rotorstorm that there was a distinction between Autobot and Wreckers either. He did however show some amusement at Rotorstorm's joke about Wreckers combining. It gave him a giggle... right before he put a gun between Rotorstorm's optics and shot him through the head. He offered the surviving Wreckers a chance at surrender, but they simply had Pyro protect Verity while the rest attacked. Overlord was suitably unimpressed, but after Stalker revealed there was a second team of Wreckers in G-9, he took the opportunity to have some fun, announcing any Decepticon who brought him the head of a Wrecker would be allowed to leave. As the Decepticons charged, Perceptor detonated a tank of fuel. The resulting explosion bought the team some time, but Overlord merely loomed above the flames.

Once the second team of Wreckers had regrouped and killed [[Stalker (G1)|Stalker]] after a number of them being captured, [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] set a new mission objective: Kill Overlord. He was quickly warned by a dying [[Snare]] that Overlord was on his way. Snare also revealed the truth about Garrus-9, and the level of Overlord's obsession with his final "game" with Megatron. Moments after Impactor gave Snare a merciful death, Overlord made his presence known in an explosive entrance. He asked if the Wreckers were ready, and Springer replied in the affirmative. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}}

The fight quickly made its way to the rooftop of Garrus-9, where [[Guzzle (G1)|Guzzle]] was quickly torn in half and used to dispatch Kup. Noting that Overlord talked too much, Impactor put a harpoon through his eye. However, this barely fazed Overlord, who beckoned on the survivors. As the Decepticon raised Springer by his neck, Overlord stomped Impactor into the rooftop. Springer tried to convince him that despite his apparent victory, the Autobot prisoners within Garrus-9 were released and would soon be upon them.

Overlord laughed. He'd already ordered all Autobot prisoners executed.

But Springer's death would have to wait. [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]], [[Ironfist]], and [[Verity Carlo]] arrived from the [[Aequitas]] Chamber, and as their firepower knocked Springer from Overlord's grasp, Ironfist tossed Springer a huge chaingun-like weapon. Overlord shrugged off even its massive payload and slapped Springer to the ground, removing most of his face. "Sweet," Overlord smiled as he held Springer's skin in his hand. He shot Perceptor and was about to kill Ironfist as well when the newbie Wrecker warned the Decepticon to not get any closer. Overlord chortled, but Ironfist explained. Springer had shot Overlord with thousands of deterrence chips, and Ironfist, having downloaded Aequitas into himself, held the key to their detonation.

Thousands of explosions reduced Overlord to a flaming skeleton, but he was still functional. He cursed Ironfist (who fell unconscious) and Verity, the latter of whom he approached slowly and angrily. If Megatron arrived now to challenge him, how could Overlord meet his challenge in this sorry condition? But when Verity told him that Megatron was dead, he sank to his knees, stunned that while he had focused everything, every day of his life, on his fight with the Decepticon leader... said leader had never come for him and never would (a fact that Verity gleefully needled him over). And when Impactor, who had survived, leaped at the ablaze Decepticon, Overlord put up no fight, ready to die.

The bio of this figure stated that he was a dimension-hopper, which leaves the door open for him being the Masterforce character who jumped dimensions into the European toy bio continuity. Overlord did not have an American counterpart until 2003, when the ''Heroes of Cybertron'' line introduced "Gigatron". However, the little-known nature of this character (existing as he did only as an obscure PVC figurine), coupled with the fact that Overlord had been around for fifteen years already, meant that the idea of a Powermaster named Gigatron who existed as a separate character to the Godmaster Overlord didn't really catch on. Blaster was a fun-loving, hip and happening robot. Loud and energetic, he was happy to share his choice of rockin' tunes with anyone, whether they really wanted to hear them or not.

Blaster appeared out of nowhere one day during [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]]'s demonstration of the modifications he'd made to the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] to improve their sense of balance and coordination, and to that end, Blaster was requested to play something "nice". For some reason, Blaster had trouble tuning into a station until Grimlock (obviously tired of this padding) blasted fire at Blaster's controls, allowing the Autobot boom box to tune into the local rock 'n' roll/big band music fusion station. [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] and [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] showed their appreciation for the fine selection of elevator music by jerkily dancing around and claiming their audio sensors were being fried. Blaster continued to enthrall Grimlock until [[Slag (G1)|Slag]] and [[Sludge (G1)|Sludge]] bumped into their leader and totally freaked him out. {{storylink|Dinobot Island, Part 1}}

At a not-so-secret EJK testing facility for the new Ultraplane, Blaster was sitting in the back of Ironhide's vehicle mode and didn't seem to notice the fact that [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] was sitting right next to him—at least until the Decepticon tape deck launched [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], whom Blaster quickly transformed to grab. The cat turned to attack the Autobot while his master escaped to report to [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. Blaster continued to tussle until Ironhide transformed into robot mode and threw them both out of his caboose. After being initially distracted by the Ultraplane's destruction, the Autobots returned to EJK's lab to confront the Decepticons. Blaster greatly appreciated [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]]'s taste in fusion rock/big band music to confound the hapless villains. {{storylink|Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1}}

Blaster's taste in music often got him into trouble. He attended a concert by a popular '80s rock/big band fusion hair metal band with [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]] and [[Carly]]. Concerned that the other Autobots weren't enjoying the concert with them, Blaster flooded the Autobot communications channels with the music, though only [[Cosmos (G1)|Cosmos]] and Jazz seemed to appreciate it. Unfortunately, his taste in music also disrupted an emergency communique from the Helix Observatory, until the other Autobots told him to shut up. After the [[Voltronic Galaxer]] was stolen, Blaster was teamed up with Cosmos to search for signs of the Decepticons, but both were rather quickly captured. Blaster was welded into place to be used as a trans-scrambler for Megatron's scheme to use the voltronic galaxer to disrupt communications on Earth and then demand all the energy on the planet in exchange for normality. While Megatron ranted about his demands, Blaster secretly played his music, which served both to rally the Autobots and inform them of Megatron's location — until Megatron kicked him in the face. After foiling the Decepticon plans, Blaster was assigned to the abandoned moon base with Cosmos, but quickly got into trouble with Prime again for his music. {{storylink|Blaster Blues}}

Later, Blaster and [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] helped the [[New York City|New York]] police crack a car theft ring by posing as an attractive target for punks to steal. After Blaster teamed up with car thief [[Raoul]], they learned that Megatron was behind the criminal operation, stealing cars to rebuild them into transforming drones. Blaster defended the Washington Bridge from the Decepticon drones alongside the other Autobots, but they were nearly overwhelmed by sheer numbers. After [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] realized the cars were remote-controlled, Blaster jammed the frequency, allowing the Autobots to attack and defeat the Decepticons. {{storylink|Make Tracks}}

Blaster proved useful again, even pivotal, in allowing the Autobots to save Cosmos and some [[robotic insecticide]] from the [[Morphobot]]s. It turns out even plants hate Blaster's music. {{storylink|Quest for Survival}} Soon afterward, the Autobots were attacked by the malevolent [[Kremzeek]], an energy life form created by Megatron. Blaster and a small number of other Autobots were the only ones to stay functional long enough to be sprayed with an insulating foam that protected them from the creature's attacks. The Autobot team chased it to [[Japan]], where it wreaked havoc with the massive electronics industry there. The creature spawned copies of itself, one of which managed to slip inside Blaster, and after the other Kremzeeks were seemingly destroyed, it jumped out of his chest and the pursuit began again. {{storylink|Kremzeek!}}

Suspecting foul play, the Autobots took off to search for their missing comrades. While on the search, Blaster was forcibly transformed by a Creamy Cream billboard ''(They can do that?)'', then carted away by the big game hunter [[Lord Chumley]] and his butler [[Dinsmoore]] as bait to lure Optimus Prime into a hunt. Chumley apparently couldn't think of a suitably dastardly device in which to store Blaster, though, as he was totally absent from Chumley's prisoner showcase later on. {{storylink|Prime Target}}

Tracks and Blaster were reunited with Raoul when they saved their human friend and his [[Bop Crew]] from a bunch of hoodlums in the employ of the [[Dancitron]] nightclub. When a punk tried to ensnare him in a chain, Blaster simply remarked that the humans were seriously out of their league, then broke the chain by moving his arm slightly. The Autobots forced their way into the nightclub, where Blaster appreciated the atmosphere and the impressive sound system. He then went off to dance with some oddly well-dressed ladies who sounded like Penny Marshall. Soon after leaving the club, Tracks and Blaster had to save Raoul again when a Decepticon-controlled train driver sent the train Raoul was in hurtling out of control. Conferring with [[Teletraan I (G1)|Teletraan I]], Blaster discovered that Dancitron controlled its patrons by using hypnotic signals, and he suggested countering them with his own sonic powers. Entering the club, Blaster finally faced his Decepticon counterpart Soundwave in battle. At first, the combatants appeared to be evenly matched, but Soundwave drove Blaster back with his sonic assaults. Improvising, Blaster jury-rigged Dancitron's own sound system into his speakers. When Megatron journeyed to Cybertron to bring life to his new [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]], Optimus Prime took Blaster and a small group aboard Omega Supreme to stop him. Megatron sent a cadre of [[Centurion droid|Centurion droids]] after the Autobots, delaying them long enough for him to access [[Vector Sigma]] and bring his Stunticons to life. {{storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1}} As a counter-measure, Blaster and the other Autobots worked to retrofit five Cybertronian shuttles as Earth vehicles, and then used Vector Sigma in turn to bring life to these [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]]. Once they returned to Earth, the Autobots and Aerialbots confronted the newly-minted Stunticons. Impressively, Blaster used his sound system to generate a miniature earthquake using sonic vibrations, but [[Wildrider]] just sailed over the cracks and smashed into Blaster's face. On a second encounter with the Stunticons, Blaster converted into tapedeck mode and used his sonics to try blasting down a tree to make [[Breakdown (G1)|Breakdown]] crash. Instead, Breakdown used it as a ramp and Wildrider casually drove by and ran Blaster over. Ouch. {{storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2}}

Blaster and Cosmos were sent on an inter-galactic shopping trip to pick up more [[Ingredient X]] for Perceptor's protective chemical spray, [[Corrostop]]. Unfortunately there was no more Ingredient X. Anywhere. In the entire universe. Bummer. {{storylink|Cosmic Rust (episode)|Cosmic Rust}} When the Stunticons returned performing a series of heists for Megatron, Blaster joined Prime and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] in hunting down [[Motormaster (G1)|Motormaster]]. He didn't do much, but he did get to witness the most awesome game of chicken ever, when Prime totalled Motormaster and proved himself the real "King of the Road". {{storylink|Masquerade}}

In the year 2005, Blaster was assigned to the communications hub at [[Autobot City]] on Earth. When the fortress was [[Battle of Autobot City|attacked]] by the Decepticons, Blaster attempted to send out a distress signal to Optimus Prime's forces on Moon Base 1. His efforts were disrupted by Soundwave, who had sent out his cassette forces to destroy the hub's transmitter. Blaster countered with his own cassette army, and the itty-bitty guys 'rassled. After the Decepticons retreated, Blaster was helping to rebuild the city when he received a faint signal from Jazz and [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] on Moon Base 1, which was being munched by a [[Unicron|ginormous, weird-looking planet]]. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

In early 2006, Blaster was stationed mostly on Earth. After the attack on the [[Galactic Olympics]] which saw [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]], [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] and Spike kidnapped, Blaster and [[Outback]] were sent to the North African nation of [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]] on the suspicion that the militant leader [[Abdul Fakkadi (G1)|Abdul Fakkadi]] was harbouring Decepticon fugitives. Despite Fakkadi's assurances that there were no Decepticons on his soil, Outback managed to psyche out [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]] and [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]], whose escape was also quickly put down by the Australian-accented Autobot. Blaster then threatened the two [[Conehead|coneheads]] to spill the beans, for Outback was trigger-happy. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1}} After returning to Autobot City, Blaster kept tabs on the delivery of [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]'s [[Transformation cog|transforming cog]], which had been damaged during the battle of Autobot City the year before. Unfortunately, [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] and [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]]'s delivery shuttle was destroyed by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], forcing Blaster to call upon Commander [[Marissa Faireborn]] of the [[Earth Defense Command]] for help. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2}}

However, Faireborn and the Autobot delivery team were stranded when [[Lipole|lipoles]] native to [[Io]] destroyed the EDC ship, so the long-suffering Blaster sent rescue in the form of the magnificent [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]], whom Blaster remarked was difficult to describe. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4}} After Sky Lynx effortlessly saved their friends and delivered the cog to Earth, [[Pipes]] installed the cog, and Blaster activated Metroplex's transformation sequence. Once the Autobot city defeated the Decepticon giant [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]], Blaster declared that Metroplex was his kind of town. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5}}

Blaster was briefly seen aboard the Autobot flagship when Optimus Prime returned from the dead to rally the troops against the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]]. He fled the ship with the rest of the crew before Prime's suicidal assault on the Quintessons' central planet. {{storylink|Dark Awakening}}

After Perceptor uncovered a source of chronal energy emanating from an asteroid belt, Blaster accompanied him on a survey mission, along with his cassettes [[Rewind]] and [[Ramhorn]]. Their simple survey soon turned into a battle, though, when a school of [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]] assaulted the Autobots as they approached the belt. Blaster radioed for reinforcements during the battle but, alongside Blurr and [[Wreck-Gar (G1)|Wreck-Gar]], they soon made short work of their opponents. At the asteroid belt, they found a Quintesson scientist working with an actual [[Time Window]], allowing passage backwards through time. Several Quintesson ships interrupted their observations, and Blaster and the other Autobots were accidentally chased through the time window itself, finding themselves 11 million years in Cybertron's past. The Quintesson warships were gone, but they just traded one threat for another and soon came under assault by [[Guardian robot|Guardian Robots]]. Blaster and his comrades were saved by the intervention of [[Beta (G1)|Beta]], [[second-in-command]] of the slave rebellion against the Quints. With the rebels' leader [[Alpha Trion (G1)|A3]] missing, Blaster and the Autobots stepped into his place to lead the rebellion against the Guardians and their Quintesson masters. The Autobots did their best, but the sheer number of Guardian Robots was on the verge of overwhelming them when A3 returned through the time window. He turned his [[Coda Remote]] device against the Guardians and preserved the natural flow of history, as Blaster and the future Autobots took the window back to the present. {{storylink|Forever Is a Long Time Coming}}

When Daniel Witwicky and Wheelie were taken hostage by the Decepticons, Blaster fielded the ransom call for Spike and Ultra Magnus. His skill as a communication officer seemed to fail him, as he lost [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]]'s signal at a critical point in the monologing. Maybe he was just tired of listening to The Villain Speech, trademarked. {{storylink|Surprise Party}} Daniel was saved, but it wasn't long before he got into more trouble, disappearing with Grimlock during a reception on Cybertron. Ultra Magnus summoned Blaster for assistance, and Blaster in turn ejected [[Steeljaw (G1)|Steeljaw]] so that his tracking abilities could locate the missing boy. Their search led to a hidden chamber beneath Cybertron's surface, abandoned since the time of the Quintessons. Blaster summoned Rewind next to help translate and interpret the ancient Quintessonese on the walls, and the rescue party learned the chamber was a method of banishing criminals to other dimensions. After Rewind worked out that Daniel had travelled to [[Menonia]], Blaster and the others reactivated the portal to chase after them. They got involved in a local skirmish against [[Mara-Al-Utha]], the banished Quintesson who had usurped power from the benevolent [[Golden One]]. In order to defeat the Quintesson, Blaster lent his sound system to the Golden One, amplifying his voice as he invoked the proper counter-spells. It had a nice beat, and you could smash Quintessons with it: even Grimlock had to approve. {{storylink|Madman's Paradise}}

While helping Ultra Magnus and the other Autobots fight the Decepticons on a renegade comet, Blaster was blasted out of space by a musical harmony. It was generated from the planet [[Eurythma]] below as a sonic weapon to destroy the comet before it struck their world. Galvatron naturally wanted such a powerful weapon for himself, and fled the battle with Soundwave to steal the secret of the harmony. Ultra Magnus recruited Blaster and [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]] to make their own effort to secure the harmony, or at least keep it out of Galvatron's hands. Blaster was enamored with Eurythma, and could somehow interpret that the nearby city and the entire civilization were based on musical harmonies. Luckily, he also somehow knew exactly where the "band leader" was, and directed Broadside to take them to [[Basso Profundo]]'s palace. Blaster was the only one who could understand the overly synthesized and harmonic speaking voices of the Eurythmians. Maybe Ultra Magnus was tone deaf. The hunt for the harmony turned into a bizarre scavenger hunt, as Blaster and Soundwave attempted to recover the three thirds of the harmony produced by Basso Profundo, [[Zebop Skandana]] and [[Allegra]]. The Decepticons assembled the harmony first, and Soundwave turned its united power against the Autobots. Blaster managed to stop Soundwave by punching him in the crotch. No seriously — that's where his "Erase" button is. Really. {{storylink|Carnage in C-Minor}}

Running the day-to-day operations of Metroplex and Autobot City on Earth, Blaster was subjected to a security inspection by Kup. He passed with flying colors and nearly succeeded in convincing Kup how seriously they took the job... until he happened to lean against a control panel and set off some 20 year old tunes on the sound speakers. Things turned serious immediately thereafter, though, as Metroplex was invaded by [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and the ghost of Starscream. It only got worse when they stole Metroplex's eyes and set off a bomb in his brain. The report Kup filed for the inspection must have interesting reading material. Blaster joined Kup, Ultra Magnus and Rodimus Prime aboard Omega Supreme to check out some strange reports from the [[Junkion (planet)|planet of Junk]]. These "strange reports" turned out to be a full-fledged war between half the galaxy raging over the [[Junkion (species)|Junkions]]' heads. On the surface, Blaster's receivers located a hypnotic signal being broadcast somehow from the Junkions' TV antenna. Using Omega Supreme to get the proper altitude, Blaster began broadcasting his own counter-frequency to break the spell. {{storylink|The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)|The Big Broadcast of 2006}}

Blaster was returning from a space mission aboard Sky Lynx with Outback, Steeljaw and Ramhorn when Perceptor radioed in that a peculiar Quintession transmission was being picked up in their area. On an uninhabited planet, they found a Quintesson journal which detailed centuries of manipulating the planets [[Xetaxxis]] and [[Lanarq]] into ever-escalating warfare. Despite Quintesson and Decepticon interference, Blaster and his comrades managed to bring the journal to the attention of the warring aliens, ending their conflicts... at least for the moment. {{storylink|The Quintesson Journal}}

Blaster was manning Autobot City when [[Victor Drath]]'s men drove the empty shells of Ultra Magnus, Arcee, Springer and Rodimus Prime towards the city for a Trojan horse ploy. When the REAL Magnus and Springer hijacked the latter's helicopter mode and started taking potshots at the city, however, Blaster quickly caught on and transformed the city into battle station mode, cutting off their entry. When Sky Lynx and Cosmos crashed on [[Power Platform Alpha]], Blaster raced out to help with his fellow Autobots. Upon trying to radio for assistance, however, Blaster found himself unable to properly transmit any signals. The Autobots eventually uncovered [[anti-electron]] sabotage in the new power generator, and cleaned out the disruptive influence. {{storylink|Grimlock's New Brain}} Later, Blaster began self-ejecting when the [[Oracle (G1)|Oracle]]'s transmission convinced Ramhorn and Steeljaw to force their way out of Blaster's chest to answer the call of the [[Primitive|Primitives]]. {{storylink|Call of the Primitives}}

Although he wasn't on the initial casualty list, Blaster was revived alongside the Autobots who fell before the crazed [[Superion (G1)|Superion]], during the outbreak of the [[Hate Plague]]. Luckily, Blaster was able to transform in time and catch the lights before they could squash everyone. Transforming into his towering robot mode, Blaster told 15 that a princess like her deserved a more cheerful song. After listening to her problems, he advised her not to worry about what she ought to do and suggested that she concentrate on doing what she loved best. He told her that as individuals, sentient beings are notes, and that together, they become music.

He handed her a small cassette tape and told her that whenever she was depressed, she should listen to music. She thanked him as he left.

Some time before the Transformers' war left Cybertron, Blaster briefly engaged the Decepticons with his comrades.

In 2011, Blaster and his Mini-Cassettes were on Earth under Ultra Magnus's command when the Decepticons attacked Cybertron. While making their way to the [[Space Bridge]] to join their comrades, Blaster and Ultra Magnus were attacked by the new Decepticon ninja consultant, [[Sixshot]]. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}}

Later, Blaster joined Hot Rod in his search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. As they were outlining their plans, however, Blaster detected [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] spying on their conversation. Chasing the bat uncovered Soundwave and Ravage at the Autobot base as well, and after the battle Blaster vowed to one day rid the universe of his nemesis. As the search for the Matrix continued, Hot Rod and Blaster were again confronted by Soundwave in the Arctic. As the Mini-Cassette warriors dealt with each other, Blaster urged Hot Rod to go on without him: HE would deal with Soundwave. The two communications officers began blasting away at one another furiously. The fight then turned physical as Blaster ripped off one of Soundwave's arms and both combatants caved in each other's chests. Soundwave was killed -- and actually ''exploded'' due to the extent of his injuries -- but Blaster quickly succumbed to his wounds as well. With his last words, he urged Hot Rod to find the Matrix. {{storylink|The Mystery of Planet Master}}

All the Autobots were content to leave Blaster as a corpse until [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel]] and Blaster's cassette forces whined enough to have their pal resurrected. Blaster was then brought back online via [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]]' [[Master (planet)|Master]] technology, as the yellow and blue repaint '''Twincast'''. Coincidentally, the Decepticons reanimated Soundwave as the black-as-coal [[Soundblaster (G1)|Soundblaster]]. The two arch-enemies then renewed their struggle. Soundblaster was the key figure in controlling Galvatron new WMD, the [[Madmachine]]. Twincast and his Mini-Cassettes infiltrated Trypticon and learned that Soundblaster was broadcasting from [[Chaar]]. He single-handedly overpowered the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]]s to access the Decepticon Space Bridge, and made his way to Decepticon headquarters on Chaar. In the control room, Twincast struck Soundblaster hard enough to shake loose the sonic conductor he had been installed with to control the Madmachine, and blew it to smithereens. With a jaunty wave, Twincast said, "Well, I must be going!" and returned to the Autobots. {{storylink|The Great Cassette Operation}}

Later on, Twincast reported to Rodimus Prime that the Decepticons were gathering on Earth, in preparation for raiding Cybertron via the Space Bridge. {{storylink|Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1}} He also served as the Autobots' karaoke machine at parties. [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]] loves karaoke. {{storylink|The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok}}

In order to learn more about the Decepticons' plans, Twincast sent Ramhorn and Steeljaw to Chaar on a reconnaissance mission. They reported back on Scorponok's scheme to harness [[plasma energy]], like that which was released by Cybertron's destruction. {{storylink|The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts}} He also managed to follow Sixshot to Chaar over the Space Bridge (doesn't anyone GUARD that thing anymore?!), and witnessed the activation of Scorponok's MegaZarak [[Transtector]]. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Presumably because of his role as a communications officer, Twincast was aware of [[Punch (G1)|Punch]]'s undercover duties with the Decepticons as [[Counterpunch (G1)|Counterpunch]]. After the Headmasters clashed with Scorponok near Chaar, he alerted Fortress that Punch had arrived to make his latest report. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}} Later, Twincast learned that the Decepticons planned to raid the energy supplies Ultra Magnus was sending to the destitute planet [[Sandra]]. His warning only arrived a few short moments before the Decepticons did. {{storylink|SOS from Planet Sandra}}

When Fortress and the Headmasters pursued the Decepticons out into space, Twincast joined them on the expedition. {{storylink|Fight to the Death on Susei!!}} He was with the Headmasters when they investigated an SOS call from the planet [[Darhos]]. {{storylink|Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!}} On [[Paradise]], Twincast used his Mini-Cassettes to scout the countryside and locate the Decepticons. {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}} He was also active when the Autobots came to the [[Pirate Planet]], watching for Decepticon activity. His scouting patrol came by a sealed pyramid in time to pull [[Highbrow (G1)|Highbrow]] to safety when Galvatron arrived looking for energy. {{storylink|Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship}}

After the Autobots returned to Earth, Twincast helped investigate the sudden flurry of Decepticon attacks. He released his collection of Mini-Cassettes to seek out information, and personally accompanied Steeljaw on an investigation to an Autobot outpost in Alaska. Upon arriving, they discovered Scorponok had wiped out the outpost. Twincast and Steeljaw were spotted by Sixshot, who opened fire on them. Twincast demanded Steeljaw return to Autobot City with the information they had uncovered, while he stayed behind to cover the retreat. Steeljaw reluctantly left his commander to his fate, and Twincast was ultimately blasted into a ravine by Sixshot's Wingwolf mode. Steeljaw eventually returned with reinforcements, and Twincast was taken in for repairs. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}}

Twincast reported to a series of caves where the Headmasters were searching for [[plasma energy]] bombs left behind by Scorponok and the Decepticons when they departed Earth. He joined the Headmasters aboard the Battleship Maximus as they tried to get the massively powerful explosives a safe distance away from Earth. When they came across a group of [[Targetmaster|six refugees]] fleeing the planet Master, Twincast used his interpretive skills to translate their strange language. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)}} On the planet Master, Twincast was among the Autobots when the kidnapped scientist, [[Jack (Headmasters)|Jack]], suddenly returned to their midst. Twincast joined the entire Autobot army in journeying to the North Pole. There they battled Scorponok and his minions to stop the [[crysmag metal]] towers from destroying the planet Earth. Blaster was a rather grim, brooding, rebellious loner who hated Decepticons with a passion. And while he was one of the best kickass fighters the [[Autobot|Autobots]] had he had a bit of a problem with authority. Part of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]]'s Autobot resistance cell on Cybertron, he often disagreed with his superior's orders, especially after his friend [[Scrounge (G1)|Scrounge]] went missing and Blaster wanted to hunt for him. Unfortunately, he found him in the Decepticons' [[smelting pool]]. Blaster was too late to save Scrounge's life, but he did retrieve the last bit of data the little spy had uncovered, so Scrounge didn't die in vain.

Picked up by a passing [[Yar|trawler]], he was delivered home, where it was revealed that he had to have been attacked by an Autobot. In an effort to flush the traitor out, Blaster went back on the air. The attempt worked, and his would-be killer was revealed: [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]]. [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]] had used [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]] to implant a [[cerebro-shell]] and ordered him to kill Blaster. However, he was able to resist when Blaster used his greatest weapon: his voice. As a damaged Beachcomber was brought in for repairs, Blaster swore he'd find Soundwave and that the last thing he'd ever hear would be... the Voice. {{storylink|Spotlight: Blaster}}

The ''[[Micro Change|Microchange]]'' release of the toy came with a microcassette-sized radio that plugged in to Radi-Casse Robo, which had internal wiring that allowed the radio to play through the speakers in its legs. The big hole in his Electro-Scrambler rifle is an earphone storage space, while the cord can be wrapped around the gun and the plug connects to the hole in the gun's stock. Despite popular belief, the compartment in the back of some Blaster toys was not a remnant of a battery compartment, but was actually storage for one of the transforming microcassettes, since a plug kept them from fitting in the cassette door. The battery compartment was actually in one of his legs.

* According to [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] on a [[Letters page (Marvel UK)|letters page]], Blaster's visor is retractable. He uses it to shield his especially delicate optical sensors from sunlight.

* The packaging for Twincast's e-Hobby reissue was the same generic [[Decepticon]]-scheme box used to package [[Magnificus]]. However, since Flip Sides is technically a Decepticon, it... sorta works.

* According to Blaster himself on the UK letters page, he has two [[Relatives|siblings]]: [[Toaster]] and [[Karmen]]. And then there's [[Bluster]], his retroactively-created and less-seen brother.

* Blaster hosted the [[Letters page (Marvel UK)|Marvel UK comic's letters page]] for the final 33 issues (from [[Rhythms of Darkness!|issue #300]] to [[End of the Road! (US)|issue #332]]), to tie in with his Action Master toy. Here, the letters page was dubbed "Darn 'n' Blast," replacing [[Dreadwind (G1)|Dreadwind's]] "Dread Tidings" (despite Dreadwind's holing himself up in the Marvel offices. He was finally evicted by Blaster who complained that Dreadwind had decorated the office in all purple and orange with a solitary picture of a dog with sad eyes). His characterization in the letters page is more in line with his fun-loving, hip and happening self from the cartoon than the rather grim, brooding, rebellious loner seen in the comics. He arrived on the letters page in advance of his resurrection in the comics itself, which did not occur until [[On the Edge of Extinction!|issue #321]]. He was explicitly identified as being a non-transformer Action Master, though his partner Flight Pack did not appear.

* Blaster had a different appearance in the 1980s between the cartoon and the Marvel comic series. His head in the comic was closer to the toy and depicted him with goggles, while the cartoon drew him with regular eyes and a large forehead. By [[On the Edge of Extinction!|late 1990]], however, Blaster's head in the comics more closely resembled the cartoon appearance. This did come after he was revived by Nucleon, though, so maybe this was his side-effect?
** The toy-based head was drawn by [[Don Perlin]] and [[José Delbo]], while [[Herb Trimpe]] (covers, [[G.I. Joe and the Transformers]]), [[Geoff Senior]] (issue 75) and [[Andrew Wildman]] (issues 76-80) drew Blaster's head based on the cartoon version. All versions were colored by [[Nelson Yomtov|Nel Yomtov]], who gave Blaster a red forehead and yellow face (a combination never used on a toy, or in the cartoon).
