Apeface is a strong presence in any situation. He's loud, rude, obnoxious, and intimidating to everyone he meets. He dominates those around him with his attitude and fearsome countenance. There's some debate among his fellow Decepticons about how much of his behavior is an act, a gruesomely effective psychological tactic to control others and force them to fold under his demands. Others just think he was built that way. Whatever's going on inside Apeface's cerebral-circuitry, he's not saying. The only one he really gets along with is Snapdragon.

As a Headmaster, he is binary bonded to Spasma. Sucks to be Spasma.
Apeface appeared to be the leader of the "animals" under Cyclonus and Scourge's command. Or at least their spokesperson. Not that it matters, since when Apeface balked at a command to rip off his own head, Cyclonus <strike>pimp-slapped</strike> shot him and said "You will do as I say, or you will die!" Not way up there in the Decepticon hierarchy, Apeface is. Apeface was binary bonded to Spasma, who warned him not to get out of line. "We'll see who's boss" was Apeface's reply. The Rebirth, Part 1 The Rebirth, Part 2

Marvel Comics continuity
On Cybertron, Apeface was among Scorponok's crew of Decepticons. When their Autobot foes left for the planet Nebulos, the Decepticons followed. Broken Glass!

Not long after their arrival, Apeface and his pal Snapdragon were having fun terrorizing the natives in the city of Splendora, until they were easily dispatched by two Autobot Headmasters. Though Scorponok berated the two for their failure, this latest defeat proved enough for him to reconsider the merits of the Headmaster process. Soon, Apeface was one of six Decepticons who underwent binary-bonding with the organic Nebulans to become a Headmaster. Love and Steel!

He and the others continued to terrorize Nebulos until the Decepticons left for Earth, pursuing Fortress Maximus's Autobots yet again. Brothers in Armor!!

During the battle between Scorponok and Ratbat's crews, Apeface learned a valuable truth about himself: while he isn't quite willing to rip off his own arm and beat someone to death with it, he's also not one to ignore an opportunity when it presents itself. Rampage learned that the hard way. Cold War!

Apeface was quite amused by the Optimus Prime's surrender to Scorponok on Earth, considering it a regular comedy show. Surrender!

Apeface was teleported to Cybertron along with countless other Transformers, where he somehow found a tasty banana to keep himself occupied while some stupid Autobot yammered on about dark gods and creators and stuff. The Void! (Marvel US comic)

When the aforementioned dark god showed up at Cybertron a short while later, Apeface wasn't so amused. Like countless others, he fled in a panic. On the Edge of Extinction!

After the apocalyptic battle, Apeface's ruined form was seen among the dead. Still Life!

Blackthorne Transformers in 3D continuity
"Ape Face" (as it is spelt in the comic) was one of the last few Decepticons remaining behind on Tau-Ursa when the Autobots arrived. He was investigating a crashed spaceship when he found a voice recording. Deducing that if the tape spoke it must be important, he resolved to take it to Scorponok.

At this moment he was attacked by Blurr and Hot Rod who were intent on keeping him from escaping with the information. The triple changer loudly declared his intention to smash them (with a mighty cry of "GRUUUNK!"), and after knocking them to the ground similarly anounced he was transforming into jet mode. He was too slow however, and Blurr seized his arm, prising the tape from his hand before escaping. This made him mad. The War Against the Destructons, Chapter 1 of 3
* In the Japanese Headmasters series, Spasma does not exist as a separate entity from Apeface; like all Headmasters, the large robot is just a lifeless Transtector body controlled entirely by the head unit. However, Apeface's head unit is still called "Spasma" when separated from the larger robot body, even though it's the same guy!
Chomedome is an academic at heart. He only joined the war effort after the Decepticons destroyed Cybertron's Institute for Higher Programming where he did his work. He's tried to use his skills as a programmer to bring an end to the war, but so far has only succeeded in instigating a programming "arms" race. Something of a classic computer programming nerd, he's often a frustration to his cool and very image-conscious Nebulan Headmaster partner, Stylor. He also suggested going on a "Leg Quest" after the Matrix-powered Thunderwing ripped off his leg. Funny, funny guy.

He was last seen fleeing in terror from Unicron. Whatever happened to him, it couldn't have been worse than what happened to Brainstorm, Hardhead, and Highbrow in the ensuing battle.
After the Decepticons broke into the Plasma Energy Chamber, unleashing waves of powerful plasma energy, Chromedome was amongst the group of Autobots flung halfway across the galaxy to Nebulos. After a misunderstanding—namely, the Nebulans threatening to detonate magnetic bombs they had attached to the Autobots after their capture—Chromedome willingly became a Headmaster. He presumably joined the rest of the Autobots in celebration after Scorponok was flung into space and a new Golden Age began on Cybertron.
Fortress Maximus's second-in-command and field commander, he was charged with leading a crack troop of Headmaster soldiers with about one personality between the four of them. Chromedome was notable for often being the guy in charge and being slightly brasher than the rest of this brash lot. Brasher than Armada's Hot Shot. That's pretty darn brash. Brash. He also picked up romancing Arcee when Rodimus was on walkabout for a new planet and Springer was apparently otherwise occupied.

Chromedome had a long history of animosity with Sixshot, dating back to when Sixshot killed his friend Abel before Chromedome became a Headmaster. Things got worse when Sixshot killed Ultra Magnus. The final straw came when Chromedome was forced to shoot his friend Jack after Sixshot planted a bomb in Jack and reprogrammed him to blow up the Battleship Maximus. He was finally challenged to a one-on-one fight to the death with Sixshot, but they were stopped by Daniel Witwicky, who had managed to open up Sixshot to the idea of aiding the Autobots.
