Override is the best racer on Velocitron, and as such is the leader of the planet. She seemingly embodies the culture itself; she is quick-witted, decisive, self-sure and always looking for a challenge. This has its upsides and downsides: while she's brave and determined with a never-give-up attitude, she can also be cocky to the point of arrogant, if not selfish and shortsighted. She entered the great race for leadership disguised as a "boy", and has been defending her title and proving herself more than a match for anyone since.

After contact with the Autobots from Cybertron, particularly Hot Shot and Optimus Prime, she has matured into a more careful, more compassionate robot, less focused on being the best racer and more focused on being the best leader for her people... though she still maintains her never-lose attitude and love of high-speed challenges.

She has developed a close bond with the human girl Lori, referring to her as "Little Sister", which Lori reciprocates by calling Override "Big Sister".
: Part of the Speed Planet theme, Override transforms into a sleek futuristic race car. Plugging a Cyber Planet Key into the rear portion of her car mode causes two non-firing blasters to flip out into attack position; this assembly becomes a hand-weapon for robot mode. She came with a gold-bordered Velocitron-style Cyber Planet Key.

: There are a few small deco changes between the Hasbro and Takara versions of the toy; Takara's has a gold face and no faction sigil, while Hasbro's has an orange face, Autobot faction sigil, and gives her Key the Key code "dy7p".
Override doesn't know the meaning of the word "subtle." Announcing his presence with the deafening blast of his engines, he wants his enemies to know he's coming. The only thing he loves more than blasting Decepticons is charging full throttle, tearing up the roads. Override loves shifting into his powerful "Override Gear," joining battle at frightening speeds, Triggerbot guns blazing full volume (hopefully they hit something), with apparently no concern for his own well being. But this is not true. Annoyingly vain, Override can spiral into depression at the mere sight of a scratch on his chassis. It's probably the only time he quiets down.
Marvel Comics continuity
Millions of years ago, Override was one of the Autobots under the command of a young, inexperienced Optimus Prime, then a junior officer. Leading them into neutral territory to meet with a wise Transformer known as Boltax, they encountered several booby traps along the way. Override in particular was helpful in deactivating the mercury minefield which threatened to boil them. When they reached the Temple of Knowledge, Override and the other Autobots were instructed to wait outside while Optimus Prime communed with Boltax.

Years later, in the present day, Override, the other Triggerbots, and the Sparkabots were imprisoned by the Decepticons. Three of their number were taken by the Decepticons to Earth, but Override was left behind.

During the Matrix Quest, the Triggerbots were sent to the planet Cheyne. They stayed with a family of Vrobians who were persecuted by the local law enforcement, but over a period of time, Override and the others forgot their original mission, their past, and perhaps even their names! Fortunately, Dogfight discovered that the Vrobians were psychic vampires, putting the Autobots under their mental control. The Triggerbots rebelled, killed the family, and left Cheyne when no leads on the Matrix's location were uncovered.

When G.I. Joe sent word to Optimus Prime that Cobra had rebuilt Megatron, he sent a group of Autobots that included Override to fight him. After several of them were destroyed, Override's job was to distract Megatron while Skydive was loaded into the Ark. He succeeded, but Megatron tore him apart, and Override presumably died.

Dreamwave Comics continuity
Override and his Triggerbot partner Dogfight worked for Perceptor and Blaster during the Age of Internment. They remained underground for a considerable period of time before the Turbomaster Flash managed to recover Optimus Prime from Quintessa, and free the Autobots from slavery.

(Note: Dreamwave fell under before The Age of Wrath limited series was finished, so the above remains a reasonable, but technically unofficial, conclusion to the series' events.)

IDW Comics continuity
Override worked on the Ark-27, bringing Optimus Prime back to Cybertron to battle Bludgeon and his Frankenstein-recreation, Thunderwing. His crew later transported Optimus to Earth to join up with Prowl's infiltration unit.
:Override is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

So many choices!)

When G. I.

:Trypticon is a Decepticon in the Generation 1 continuity family.

While there have been other sentient Decepticon "cities," Trypticon was the first to appear in any continuity. His intelligence and personality vary between those continuities, from a plodding near-animal to an introspective killer with designs on Decepticon leadership. Also variable is his scale: He's always depicted as being very large, but whether that means being two-to-three times typical Transformer size, literally city-sized, or somewhere in between, is rarely consistent. One element that should be consistent, given how often it's referenced, is the fact that his eyes can emit hypno-beams that subvert the will of other Transformers. Strangely, though, he has never been seen to use them.

In some continuities, he is accompanied by one or more smaller robots. The only one to exhibit an autonomous personality is Wipe-Out. Full-Tilt and Brunt have merely been mindless drones when they've existed at all.

The only thing that is consistent is his incredible power. Only a few Transformers have been able to defeat Trypticon, and usually by outwitting him instead of by force. The only one who has a decent chance against Trypticon is Metroplex, and there is a great rivalry between the two cities.

He hates water more than any other substance in the universe, but that's mostly because he gets thrown into water a lot.
Animated Continuity
Voice actor: Brad Garrett (US), Yutaka Shimaka (Japan)

In the year 2006, Trypticon was built on Earth by the Constructicons (with help from Octane and some other guy), out of a human city as the Decepticon answer to Metroplex and as part of the joint Quintesson/Decepticon campaign to attack the Autobots on two fronts. Upon activation, Trypticon sent his former human occupants running for their lives, then destroyed a nearby mountain for no apparent reason. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

His first mission was to attack the Ark, defended by those pesky Minibots. Trypticon shot Powerglide out of the sky, then shrugged off sneak attacks by the Minibot defenders (stepping on Swerve) before leveling the Ark and the volcano the Autobot ship was embedded in. Destroying one Autobot stronghold wasn't enough, however, and Trypticon soon set his sights on Autobot City and Metroplex.

Metroplex was at a significant disadvantage, since he was without his transformation cog and thus locked into his battle station form, a weakness that Trypticon exploited. However, the timely arrival of Blurr and Wheelie with the cog allowed Metroplex to gain the upper hand, and Trypticon was forced to take a bath in the Pacific ocean. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

With the Autobots believing Trypticon destroyed, Galvatron had Trypticon sent to Dinobot Island for recovery, but he was stolen by the Triple Changer Octane. Octane made a deal with Abdul Fakkadi of the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya: In exchange for the Carbombya's high-grade oil, they would guard the country's coasts. Unfortunately, Trypticon was extremely energy-consumptive, requiring a thousand barrels of oil to make an Energon cube for him. Worse, Trypticon actually didn't fire at invaders, but at passing cruise ships (though in Trypticon's defense, he actually did think they were invading). Octane managed to renegotiate the deal so they would steal monuments for Fakkadi. Initially, the Dinobots and Sky Lynx were suspected of the thefts, but Perceptor linked the crime back to Trypticon. Rodimus Prime, Metroplex, and the rest of the Autobots put a stop to the scheme, and Trypticon took another bath. Thief in the Night

Later, after Swindle stole Metroplex's transformation cog, Galvatron dispatched Trypticon to destroy the defenseless city. Confident of victory, Trypticon decided to have some fun, eating a naval destroyer and menacing the passengers of a train. However, Silverbolt flew into Trypticon through his mouth, firing all the while, giving the giant dinosaur a big tummy-ache. Forced to retreat, Daniel and Spike Witwicky stole Trypticon's own transformation cog, intending to use it on Metroplex, forcing the Decepticons to use Metroplex's transformation cog on Trypticon. The game of musical cogs caused both cities to stall between their two modes, but Trypticon was more combat-ready. At first, he laid the smack down on Metroplex, forcing him to take a bath, but eventually, First Aid managed to properly align the Decepticon cog in Metroplex, allowing the Autobot to transform fully. Metroplex regained the initiative, and Trypticon took yet another bath. This bath was not in the ocean, but that was presumably of little comfort to Trypticon. The Ultimate Weapon

Later, he had one of his eyes, his transformation cog, and even his body stolen by Starscream and Scourge in an effort to revive Unicron. He also acted as a transport vessel for the other "primitive" Transformers when they went to fight Tornedron, but no baths were involved. Instead, he was the first Transformer to have his energy drained by Tornedron.

Fight! Super Robot Life Form Transformers manga
In this timeline, Trypticon's construction occurred around 1986/87, rather than in 2005. While the Autobots were in the process of constructing Metroplex, Astrotrain and Reflector were able to sneak past their security and spy on the process, acquiring the information that Megatron needed to discover whether or not Metroplex was strong enough to stand up to Trypticon.

The completed Trypticon made his first appearance terrorizing an island utopia that the Decepticons had conquered. He made short work of Superion, nearly killing him, until he was goaded into battle by the sudden appearance of Metroplex. Trypticon dove head-first at his rival, only to phase right through him and fall off a cliff and into the ocean. As it turns out, it was a hologram created by Hound and magnified by Perceptor.

Scramble City OVA
Not long after Trypticon's island misadventure, the Autobots completed construction of Metroplex, who was dispatched to aid the Autobot combiners in battle against their Decepticon foes. With the villains defeated, Megatron activated Trypticon to battle Metroplex.

(The Japanese manga and Scramble City served as a supplement to the animated series, with the events of the manga occurring between the end of the second season and the OVA, and the OVA itself occurring around the year 1987, it's cliffhanger left unresolved - although the possibility that it could have ended with Trypticon getting thrown off a cliff and crashing into the ocean is distinctly high. Both were released only in Japan and are decidedly out of continuity with the Western version of the animated series, as they contradict Trypticon's origin as it is depicted there.)

Headmasters
Voice actor: Masato Hirano (Japan)

Trypticon continued serving the Decepticons into the year 2011; however, by then, he'd become mostly a joke. In one confrontation, he was defeated by Daniel and Wheelie when they lured him into walking onto a rickety rope bridge, which subsequently buckled under his weight and dumped him into a river. Nevertheless, he was still used in numerous battles throughout 2011. At one point, he was commandeered by Cyclonus and Scourge and brought into battle against the Autobot Headmasters. The pair fled, leaving Trypticon behind to be destroyed (which happened off-screen; his destruction was only mentioned by Galvatron). He was apparently rebuilt, however, and was seen serving the Decepticons all the way through to their eviction from planet Earth.

Zone OVA
Voice actor: Daisuke Gōri (Japan)

(Trypticon is referred to as one of the Nine Great Demon Generals. This terminology, coupled with the presence of the previously deceased Black Zarak in their ranks and Violen Jygar's supernatural origins, could mean that Trypticon died previously to Zone and was likewise brought back to life. However, this is unconfirmed, meaning that Violen Jygar may have simply recruited the still-living Trypticon to be a General.)

Trypticon eventually joined forces with Violen Jygar as one of his nine deadly Decepticon Demon-Generals. Now with the rank of Saurian General, he used a club for a weapon and was equipped with a new attack, the Energon Z Beam, thanks to his compatriots stealing the Autobots' Energon Z from Planet Zone. Trypticon was sent by Violen Jygar to steal the Zodiac from the Autobots on Earth. During the battle with Dai Atlas. Using his Energon Z Beam he almost kills Sonic Bomber, but Dai Atlas the power of the Zodiac was released right in Trypticon's face, killing him.

Marvel Comics Continuity
Events in italics happened in the Marvel UK comics

Trypticon was dispatched by Ratbat to Earth, where he attacked the Ark with the aid of Wipe-Out. He exhibited more intelligence than in perhaps any other universe, bantering with his enemies and employing some degree of strategy. But the Dinobots held him off long enough that his energy expenditures upset the miserly Ratbat, who recalled him to Cybertron. The "defeat" of Trypticon immediately led to Grimlock's inauguration as Autobot Leader.

Later he fought evil zombies with Flywheels and the Wreckers.

Dreamwave comics continuity
Before the Ark left Cybertron, Trypticon was seen participating in at least one assault on the Autobots. During that assault he nearly killed them, was called off to help Shockwave. He's later seen taking part in the battle against the Fallen. Though not seen at that time, he does control two "battlefield drones," Full-Tilt and Brunt. The War Within: The Dark Ages

Despite his effectiveness as a killing machine, he doubts the Decepticon cause and hates his own role. He thinks that his abilities will eventually merit his taking leadership of the Decepticons, though he accepts this with the same resignation as the rest of his futile existence. More Than Meets The Eye

It's entirely possible he speaks with a British accent.

Devil's Due G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers comics continuity
As part of Serpent O.R.'s forces, Trypticon defended the newly unified Decepticon army's base against a combined Autobot/G.I. Joe strike force. A massive barrage from Ultra Magnus and G.I. Joe's artillery almost felled the giant Decepticon. The Art of War, Part 5

IDW Comics Continuity
During a flashback, Trypticon can be seen battling Thunderwing alongside Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Omega Supreme. It's unknown if he survived the battle. Given the Decepticons focus on infiltration before assault, it's possible that Trypticon is being held in reserve. Lets just face it, the guy is kinda hard to hide. Stormbringer, Part 1
:Repugnus is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Never a Decepticon, Repugnus is not always an Autobot. No, sometimes he's a former Autobot who has been discharged for insubordination or just plain nastiness, but he always gets called back to perform some mission too unsavory for anybody else. Though he doesn't give slag for authority or decency, Repugnus always does his job well.

Man, does he love his job. He'll describe, with relish, how he clawed an enemy within an inch of his life, then beat the bastard's head to a fuel-soaked wad of scrap metal with his own torn-off leg unit. He'll also add plenty of profanities and colorful idioms to the story. His friends would find this disturbing, if he had any.

Repugnus and the Monsterbots were created accidentally during an attempt to create new Autobots. Kup raced to warn Rodimus Prime and Blurr of the accident, as the wild Monsterbots trashed the lab where they were born. Thankfully the Decepticons attacked just then and the Monsterbots burst out of the building through the wall to fight them. Rodimus expressed relief that, though they were monsters, at least they were Autobot monsters.

Marvel Comics continuity
For reasons not even Vector Sigma would be able to compute, Repugnus decided to join Fortress Maximus in abandoning the war and settling down for a peaceful, quiet life on the verdant paradise of Nebulos. Maybe there's actually a great deal more complexity to Repugnus's personality than we were led to believe. Maybe he secretly longs for an end to the fighting, and his repulsive and unsavory behavior is just his way of acting out his frustration at the never-ending cycle of violence.

Or maybe he thought pacifists would be easier to harrass.

Less than 3 deca-cycles after the reformatting of Cybertron into a technorganic wonderland, Repugnus and his fellow Monsterbots (apparently all having undergone the Maximal upgrade downsizing) are seen exiting a bar on the CSSB-16 Spaceport souced out of their minds (Repugnus especially so, as he is half carried by Doublecross) on some high quality energon. If they had been a bit less drunk or a exited just a bit latter, they likely would have run smack into Devcon and the Dinobots, as is... they just missed another chance to actually DO something in a TF story. sigh.

Unicron is the eternal arch-enemy of his twin brother Primus. He is known as the Dark God, the Chaos Bringer, the Planet Eater, and he is dedicated to consuming the multiverse. His goal is to bring an end to the annoying creation boasting independence around him, and find peace by becoming the living center of a swirling, infinite torrent of nothingness at the end of all things.

To undertake this seemingly overwhelming task, Unicron is able to travel across realities at will, a meandering plague upon existence itself. Integrated into his systems are incomprehensible quantum computers which calculate probabilities forward and backwards in time, in perpetuity, giving his processors an everchanging, evolving map of the multiverse.

The only thing that he fears is Primus's essence, contained inside the Matrix.

Frequently, Unicron will make deals with lesser beings, giving them vast new powers in exchange for their servitude. These minions are sometimes stripped entirely of their free will, but others follow him willingly. No matter their intent, Unicron's plans ultimately call for their consumption as well.

:Hungarian name: Unikron, though in one of the dubs of the 1986 movie, he calls himself Unikornisz, in English, Unicorn. You know, those non-existent horses with a horn on their heads. Since Unicron has two horns, and one could mistake his goatee for a horsey, that makes him the ultimate god of the unicorns. Hence his name in that dub. Got any problems?

In the beginning
Before the dawn of time, Order and Chaos existed within an extradimensional entity known as the One. To explore the fledging universe, he created the astral being known as Unicron, and then subdivided him, creating his twin, Primus. Both brothers were multiversal singularities, unique in all realities, but whereas Unicron could only exist in one dimension at a time, moving between them at will, Primus existed simultaneously in all realities at once. It is suggested, in fact, that the two brothers embody the basic concepts of reality - good and evil, order and chaos - and that their continued existence is necessary for the stability of the multiverse.

As Unicron and Primus went about their appointed task, venturing through the cosmos, it became apparent to Primus that Unicron was a corrupt being, and he took it upon himself to stop the threat posed to all of existence by his sibling. In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. In cunning, however, he proved himself to his brother's superior when he shifted their battle to the astral plane, and then back to the physical world once more, only to have both their essences manifest within metallic planetoids, leaving them both trapped. It was with this act of sacrifice that Primus hoped to contain Unicron's evil forever. Unfortunately for him, over time, Unicron learned to psionically shape his prison into a giant metallic planet, and Primus followed suit, becoming the mechanical world of Cybertron. When Unicron then learned to transform his planetary form even further, into a gigantic robot form, Primus adapted the idea to suit his own ends, creating a group of thirteen robots that possessed the ability to change shape, like Unicron.

The war between Unicron and Primus came to its seeming end during a climactic battle in which one of the Thirteen, who would forever afterwards be known as the Fallen, betrayed Primus and became an acolyte of Unicron. The battle ended when the Fallen and Unicron were sucked into a black hole and disappeared from reality. With Unicron gone for now, Primus entered an eons-long slumber, his self-imposed sleep preventing Unicron from detecting him through the mental link the brothers shared.

Evolution of the Primus/Unicron myth
The Primus/Unicron backstory has evolved and been rewritten a good number of times since it first originated in the Marvel Comics series. The version recounted above is the current iteration, which has slowly solidified across a wide swath of media (beginning around the time of Armada). Before the Primus/Unicron mythos reached its present form it went through several distinct versions in the Marvel G1 comics and elsewhere.

Unicron's story
The first time we ever heard the Primus/Unicron backstory was in the UK comic continuity, from Unicron himself, in the story Legacy of Unicron, when he recounted it to Death's Head. Per Unicron's telling of events, he was a primal force of evil at the dawn of the universe, who led a legion of Dark Armies against his mortal foe, Primus, Lord of the Light Gods (note the plural). Events proceeded to play out basically as described above, though the role of the Light Gods and Dark Armies would diminish with each subsequent retelling of the story, until the current version, in which Primus and Unicron are alone, and have a unique origin.

The Keeper's story
The second time the story was told was in the US book by the Keeper, an ancient mechanoid who guarded Primus's head at the center of Cybertron. This telling is effectively the same as the previous UK story, but mentions that their battle was towards the end of the era of gods, that Primus and Unicron were the last of their respective pantheons, and Primus had to defeat Unicron before he could take his place with the other gods in the "Omniversal Matrix".

Primus's story
The third time the story was told was also in the US Marvel series, this time by Primus, when he gathered all his children together to prepare for Unicron's coming. It was with this telling that we learned that Unicron predated the current universe, and had destroyed the previous universe which existed before the current one. He had slept peacefully, alone in the void of uncreation that remained, until fragments of the old universe that he had overlooked reacted, causing the Big Bang and birthing the current universe. The "sentient core" of this new universe recognized the threat that Unicron posed, and so created Primus to counter his evil and be guardian of the new creation.

Fleer and DK
The first modern retelling of the origins of Primus and Unicron did not come from G1-oriented media, but from a set of Armada trading cards released by Fleer. It was the backstory printed on Unicron's card which introduced the concept of the two being brothers created to explore the new universe by an extradimensional entity, here named the "Allspark."

This was subsequently expanded on and combined with aspects of the various Marvel Comics stories in Transformers: The Ultimate Guide, published by Dorling Kindersley and written by Simon Furman, who had written all three prior tellings in the first place. Here, the entity Fleer had called the "Allspark" was redubbed "The One," and the modern iteration of the myth detailed above was firmly established, and went on to form the backbone of subsequent fiction such as Universe and Fun Publications' Cybertron comics.

Generation 1
Marvel US continuity
Eventually, millions of years later, circa the Earth year 1990, in one version of the Generation 1 continuity, a group of Transformers discovered the sleeping form of Primus at Cybertron's core. When a battle erupted, a stray laser blast struck Primus, briefly jolting the god awake and causing him to emit a multiverse-shaking "Primal Scream" that woke Unicron and alerted him to Primus' location. Primus himself immediately slipped back into his sleep, but it was too late. Primal Scream

Unicron dispatched a group of heralds to attack Cybertron and pave the way for his coming, including a Galvatron plucked from an alternate future in which Unicron had succeeded in consuming Cybertron. Galvatron, however, was not content to serve under Unicron, and instead captured Autobot leader Emirate Xaaron, forcing him to fully awaken Primus, who possessed Xaaron's body and summoned Transformers from all across the universe back to Cybertron. Out of Time! At this point, a mental command that Unicron had placed in some of Primus's creations was activated, resulting in the formation of a cult of Unicron-worshippers, who gathered to destroy the leader of the united Autobots and Decepticons. Their assassination attempt was foiled thanks to the aid of Galvatron.

Having suspected treachery on Galvatron's part, Unicron decided to forego consumption of the planet Jhi and head straight for Cybertron, shutting down his higher mental functions and drifting the remainder of the journey to hide himself from detection by Primus. Transforming back to robot mode upon arrival, he was somewhat disappointed to find that the gathered Transformers were simply so terrified of him that there was no resistance to his attack. Unicron destroyed Xaaron's body, robbing Primus of his avatar, but was then attacked by his former servant, Galvatron, whose first strike snapped the Transformers out of their collective stupor and began a counter-attack against the Chaos-Bringer. Briefly fazed by the illusion-casting powers of the human Neo-Knight Rapture, Unicron's systems were attacked by the electrical powers of Circuit Breaker. Enraged that he had been made to feel pain, Unicron dispensed with his hands-on approach and transformed into planet mode to consume Cybertron, at which point Optimus Prime flew into Unicron's maw and opened the Creation Matrix, destroying the dark god. On the Edge of Extinction!

His body destroyed in this timeline, Unicron's essence moved to another plane of reality, and made continued attempts on Primus and Cybertrons across many other realities.

The Transformers: The Movie
:Voice actor: Orson Welles (US), Mizuho Suzuki (Japan)

Unicron's next known attempt on Cybertron (chronologically the first documented) was his most famous, occurring in the Earth year 2005. While heading towards the planet, he consumed the small world of Lithone, and then came upon the bodies of several wounded and dying Decepticons, who had been dumped into space following a recent battle on Earth. He extended a proposition to the Decepticons' leader, Megatron, offering to rebuild his body and those of his troops in exchange for their destruction of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership. Tortured into accepting, Megatron was transformed into Galvatron, and his followers became Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps.

While Galvatron set about reclaiming leadership of the Decepticons, Unicron arrived at Cybertron, and proceeded to consume the planet's two moons. Outraged that Unicron would do this to a planet that he viewed as his, Galvatron found himself the victim of mental torture by his creator, and ordered to Earth to complete the task given him. The ensuing chase finally climaxed in a showdown on the Planet of Junk, where Galvatron seized the Matrix and returned to Unicron, only to reveal that he intended to use the talisman to make Unicron his slave. Amused by his pawn's arrogance, Unicron transformed into his gigantic robot mode and ate Galvatron. Unicron then tore into Cybertron, as Shockwave and the rest of the Decepticons on the planet fought back, to little effect. Unicron swallowed many spaceships, and one, which contained the young Autobot Hot Rod and his comrades, crashed through Unicron's eye. Hot Rod and Galvatron battled deep inside Unicron, and ultimately, Hot Rod was able to retake the Matrix from the Decepticons. Transformed by its power into Rodimus Prime, he defeated Galvatron and opend the Matrix inside Unicron, destroying his body from within. Unicron's head survived the explosion, however, drifting through space.

:(Note: This attack was performed by Unicron in several different universes. While the events of the attack itself were largely identical in each timeline, the consequences varied greatly from universe to universe. These timelines are noted individually below.)

Animated continuity
:Voice actor: Roger C. Carmel (US), Toshirō Ishii (Japan)

In the wake of the 2005 attack, Unicron's head was caught in Cybertron's gravity and became a new moon for the planet, a grisly testament to the satellites he had destroyed. Seeking to locate Galvatron, who had been hurled into space at the conclusion of his battle with Rodimus Prime, Cyclonus and Scourge visited Unicron's head and accessed the remaining databanks there, replaying footage of the final battle that allowed them to extrapolate Galvatron's trajectory and current location. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1

In the year 2006, the ghost of the deceased Decepticon Starscream reactivated Unicron's head, in order to make a bargain with the Chaos-Bringer - in exchange for Unicron restoring his body, Starscream would recreate Unicron's. Stealing new optic circuits and a transformation cog for Unicron from Metroplex and Trypticon, Starscream was then directed to connect Unicron's head to Cybertron, so that the planet could become his new body. Starscream initially attempted to do this by use Trypticon's body, but Trypticon was deactivated by the Decepticons. Unicron restored Starscream's body so that he could finish the task, but Starscream (somewhat predictably, being Starscream) double-crossed the dark god and refused to complete the necessary connections. Just then, explosives set by the Autobots were detonated, hurling Unicron's head off the planet, beyond its gravity, and out into space. Ghost in the Machine

Later, seeking a supply of the dangerous particles known as anti-electrons, Galvatron and the Decepticons travelled to Unicron's head, only to come under attack from the defences of the barely-aware giant. Also present was the Dinobot, Grimlock, who used components from Unicron's head to create the Technobots to fight Galvatron's forces. The Technobot Strafe disconnected enough of Unicron's internal mechanisms to deactivate his systems. Grimlock's New Brain

(Note: The episode "Call of the Primitives" eventually revealed that, in this timeline, Unicron was created near the beginning of time by an ancient genius named Primacron, to destroy the universe so he could remake it in his own image - here, he was simply a gigantic robot, rather than any kind of godlike being. This, of course, is because the cartoons were written long before the Marvel Comic storyline that created the Primus/Unicron myth, and much longer before the retcon that applied the story to all Transformer continuities. Consequently, the animated universe is easily the one piece of Transformer fiction that is least compatible with this retcon, but there has as yet been no attempt in official fiction to re-write Unicron's animated origin to tie in with it.)

Marvel UK continuity
In the timeline of Earth-120185, Unicron's famous attack on Cybertron occurred in 2006, rather than 2005, but its events played out in essentially identical fashion to those noted above. Rather than become Cybertron's moon, however, Unicron's head floated off through space and crash-landed on the planet Junkion, where he used mind control to force the native Junkions to build him a new body out of the planet. At the beginning of 2008, he pulled Cyclonus, Scourge and Death's Head into his thrall and used them to re-ignite the stalemated Cybertronian war in order to keep the Autobots distracted from his activities. Ultimately, however, he was defeated by Death's Head and the Autobots. His head was destroyed, and his mind was sealed within the Matrix. The Legacy of Unicron!

On New Year's Day 2009, Unicron reached out from within the Matrix and took control of Rodimus Prime's body, Edge of Impact only to be stopped when Kup ripped the talisman out of his chest. Unfortunately, this meant they lost their chance to purify the Matrix and that Unicron would be ready for them next time. White Fire In 2010, he repeated the trick and succeeded in transforming Rodimus's body into a copy of his own before being forced back. In the far future of 2356, Unicron's essence still resides within the Matrix, steadily withering the struggling body of Rodimus. Aspects of Evil!
In this timeline, following his destruction in 2005, Unicron's lifeforce was scattered across time and space, fragmented and parasitized into Autobot and Maximal leaders throughout history. In 2007, three of his servants, the Sparkbots, sought to recreate their master, and tricked the human singing group, the Kiss Players - Marissa Faireborn, Atari Hitotonari and Shaoshao Li - into helping them on their task by telling them that they were gathering the fragments of the so-called "Allspark."
Primus was forced to take action to stop their mission, appearing as a giant golden hand to steal away the energy fragments before the Sparkbots could collect them, but eventually, the evil trio collected enough to accomplish their dire task. Fleeing back in time to Earth's prehistoric past, they unleashed the energy and Unicron began to form around them. Following the Sparkbots back to the past, Primus unleashed the full firepower of his mobile battle platform's cannon, sealing Unicron's energy and the Sparkbots deep within the planet. He then created the mighty Fortress Maximus to serve as a guardian and ensure that the evil being was never again reborn.

In yet another timeline that followed his destruction in 2005, Unicron's essence was again sent spiralling through time and space, to crash on prehistoric Earth, prior to the conflict known as the Beast Wars which would occur on the planet. It is unclear if this was a deliberate attempt by Unicron to preserve his power or not, but this "dark essence" seemed to lack any real sentience, suggesting that it was merely Unicron's "power," while his spark remained in his intact head in the future.

The dark essence was discovered by a Predacon known as the Hunter, who recognized the dark god's power, and fashioned from the essence the Matrix of Conquest, a twisted version of the Autobot Matrix of Leadership which he used to conquer and rule over an apocalyptic 32nd Century future, under the name "Shokaract." Resistance against Shokaract resulted in an attempts his opponents to travel back and time and destroy the dark essence on prehistoric Earth, thereby erasing Shockaract from history, but the villains travelled back in time to stop this effort. A massive battle between him and Transformers from throughout the multiverse ensued, but eventually, thanks to the efforts of the Covenant, history was altered so that Unicron's essence never arrived on prehistoric Earth, erasing this timeline - and Shokaract - from existence.

This timeline follows on from the events of the Kiss Players' tale, which concluded with Unicron's lifeforce being sealed within Earth. There it remained for millennia, but with the departure of its guardian, Fortress Maximus, from Earth in 2007, human beings were at some point in the far future eventually able to discover it and attempted to harness it for their own means. This resulted in the devastation of the planet Earth, reducing it to a ruin, but the fame of this "mysterious energy" that had been called "Angolmois" was far-reaching, and eventurally, the Predacon leader Galvatron attempted to harvest it for himself. Using his massive spacecraft, the Nemesis, he sucked all the the Angolmois energy out of the planet and into the craft. However, after the interference of Lio Convoy and Lio Junior, all the Angolmois energy was sealed into capsules and ejected from the Nemesis as it self-destructed.

Teams of Maximals and Predacons, led by Big Convoy and Magmatron respectively, then raced to collect the Angolmois capsules, as their energy effects were wreaking havoc on planets all over the galaxy. They eventually collected all the capsules only to find themselves attacked by the mysterious and freakish Blendtrons. The Blendtrons, in truth servants of Unicron seeking to engineer his rebirth, proved nearly invincible, and stole the capsules from each team. They released the Angolmois energy and allowed it to possess Galvatron's dead body, restoring Unicron to life in a new form. Unicron proceeded to absorb the last remaining ounce of stray Angolmois energy - the Blendtrons themselves - and left to settle his score with Cybertron. The Maximal Elder, Great Convoy, attempted to hold Unicron off with the entire Maximal armada, but Unicron's fiery serpent mode proved too much and he effortlessly destroyed the armada and Great Convoy along with it. Unicron then possessed Vector Sigma, the mother computer of Cybertron, effectively possessing the planet, and morphed Cybertron into his new body.

Unicron then briefly exited Vector Sigma to deal with the last remaining Cybertronian resistance. Big Convoy, his Maximal new recruits, Lio Convoy and Magmatron all fought side-by-side against Unicron, but all they managed to do was stall him. Big Convoy then powered up his Big Cannon with his own Matrix, transforming it into the Matrix Buster. Big Convoy shot Unicron with the weapon, the powerful blast seemingly destroying the Chaos Bringer. Unicron's spirit was then evicted from Vector Sigma, returning Cybertron to normal.
Unicron's next documented appearance began with him floating in deep space, his body shattered and ruined. The conflict that caused his has gone undocumented, but Unicron's next actions were not. Using what energies he had left, he culled Transformers from across the multiverse, gathering them inside his body and pitting them against each other in battle. He feasted upon the sparks of the losers, growing ever more powerful, while weakening Primus in turn. To counter the evil work of his brother, Primus called upon his own army from the multiverse, led by Optimus Primal. Primal was able to set free the captives inside Unicron and begin a new war between the Minions of Unicron and the Children of Primus.
After successfully devouring the Cybertron of a previously unseen dimension, Unicron sent a group of heralds - incarnations of Bludgeon, Dirge, Galvatron, Scourge, and Thunderwing - to prepare the next universe for his coming. As forewarning, he also sent the near-dead body of the Optimus Prime of that other dimension, which was discovered by the Autobots of the next universe.

Unicron was ultimately defeated by Jet Optimus, the combined form of the this universe's Optimus Prime and Jetfire, who were infused with extra Mini-Con power. However, during his attack on Cybertron, he had managed to kidnap Airazor, Cheetor, Rhinox and Terrorsaur, and would see them forged into new heralds in the interim. This universe's Megatron, having made a bid for Unicron's power, was standing on the surface of the planet-eater when he was destroyed, and his body was also lost, his spark trapped within Unicron's remains.
Energon
His broken body left floating in space after his defeat, Unicron employed the go-between Alpha Quintesson to see to his continued survival. Alpha Quintesson gathered together a group of Decepticon dissidents and transformed them into "Terrocons", although he himself was not overly thrilled with his position of enforced servitude. At the same time, Megatron had been using Unicron's powers and internal mechanisms to fashion a new body for himself, unbeknownst to Unicron himself.

Animated continuity
Unicron was evidently very active in this dimension at various points in time, although the precisely chronological placement of this activities are unclear.

At some undetermined point in the past of this universe, Unicron was approached by the survivors of Planet X, a world that had been destroyed in a war with the inhabitants of the Giant Planet, Gigantion. In return for the chance to gain revenge on Gigantion, the survivors swore loyalty to Unicron, and "Planet X" became something of a code-phrase that identified those in the service of the planet-eater.

:(Note: Liner notes included with the DVD release of Cybertron in Japan claim that Planet X is actually the body of Unicron from another parallel dimension. This would not appear to be compatible with the Western storyline, nor, indeed, with the date later given to the planet's destruction on the TakaraTomy website.)

Additionally, Cybertronian legend refers to an attack by Unicron on the planet that was ultimately thwarted by the mighty Autobot warrior, Omega Supreme.

Armada
:Voice Actor: Mark Acheson (US), Katsumi Chō (Japan), Matthew King (US PS2 Game)

Unicron's first attack on Cybertron in the present day was an indirect one, over a million years in the making, begun when he opted to disguise his dormant body as Cybertron's moon. From this secret vantage point, he implanted his own cells within the planet, where they germinated and grew into the small race of robots known as the Mini-Cons. Unicron hoped to use the Mini-cons to increase the ferocity of the Autobot/Decepticon war, and feed off of the energies released in the conflict, but an encounter with a group of time-displaced human children planted the seed of sentience and free will within the Mini-Cons, who ultimately rebelled against their creator and fled Cybertron, crash-landing on the planet Earth.

When the Mini-Cons were reawakened a million years later in 2010, they were detected by the Autobots and Decepticons, who followed their signal to Earth. Unicron also picked up the signal, and dispatched his minion Sideways, an inhabitant of Planet X who would occasionally serve as an avatar for Unicron's spark, to carry on his work. Sideways escalated the conflict by manipulating control of the three Mini-Cons weapons; the Star Saber, the Skyboom shield and the Requiem Blaster, but eventually arranged for all three to be returned to Cybertron, where he stole them and used them to reawaken Unicron.

Shedding his moon disguise and transforming to robot mode, Unicron turned on Cybertron, only to be met with resistance in the form of the united armada of Autobots and Decepticons, and his own Mini-Cons, who had linked together and formed a giant duplicate of his body. Now at all power, however, it was child's play for Unicron to exert control over his creations, and brought the Mini-Cons under his thumb once more. Again, it was thanks to the Autobots human allies - the same children who had been sent back in time and given the Mini-Cons free will in the first place - that the Mini-Cons struggled free of Unicron's control, including the three Mini-Con weapons, who broke free and left Unicron's body deactivated. Believing the threat over, Galvatron then challenged with Optimus Prime to their final battle, only for the the hatred and ferocity of their fight to awake Unicron once more. To end the circle of hate that gave Unicron life, Galvatron allowed himself to be consumed by the monster, and in a brilliant flash of light, Unicron apparently ceased to exist.

Energon
:Voice Actor: David Kaye, Mark Acheson(US), ??? (Japan)

In truth, however, Unicron had surived, and for the next team years, continued to consume planets in other regions of space. One such planet was the world known as Planet Q, whose inhabitants fought back by detonating the planet's core in Unicron's face. Badly damaged by the explosion, Unicron fell into a state of dormancy, but the life essence of the planet's ruler - the being who would come to be known as Alpha Q - continued to exist within him, and began a not-entirely-sane plan to use Unicron's powers to recreate everything the Chaos-Bringer had ever destroyed. Recreating the armies of Planet Q as "Terrorcons," Alpha Q had them attack Autobot facitlies on Earth and throughout the Solar System to gather the energon that would be necessary for his plan to work.

Unbeknownst to Alpha Q, Megatron's corpse and spark remained within Unicron, and he slowly siphoned off some of the gathered Energon, allowing him to be reborn in his own new body. To escape Megatron's fury, Alpha Q jettisoned Unicron's head and escaped in it, while Megatron took over Unicron's body, and continued to gather Energon in order to rebuild Unicron to use as his ultimate weapon. As the climax of this plan neared, a joint attack by Alpha Q, the Autobots and their human allies saw all of Earth's Energon channeled into Unicron's head, which Alpha Q then rammed into Unicron's body. The positively-charged Energon of Earth reacted with the negatively-charged Energon running through Unicron, tearing open a fissure in reality leading to a new area of space where planets Unicron consumed were recreated, and sustained through the Energon radiated from Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing red sun.

Unicron's body, damaged once more, lay in the dark reaches near the fissure, and the Decepticons began to raid Alpha Q's new planets for the Energon necessary to revive Unicron again. This time, they succeeded, and Megatron directed Unicron's body to retrieve his head, extinguishing the Energon Sun and killing Alpha Q in the process. But the power of Unicron proved too much for Megatron to control, as Unicron began to take over Megatron's body. In the ensuing battle between Unicron and the super-powered Optimus Supreme, Unicron's body was successfully destroyed.

None of the Transformers were aware, however, that Unicron lived on in two forms: his miniscule Spark, floating in space, and his consciousness, which lay buried in Megatron's mind. With quiet, subconscious nudging, Unicron led Megatron to a massive reservoir of "Super Energon" beneath Cybertron's surface, which transformed him into Galvatron upon his first exposure. After a series of failed battles, Galvatron proceeded to expose himself to the Super Energon once again, and this time grew to a gigantic height. Unicron seized control of his body again for a new vessel and set out to rejoin with his Spark, but a Primus-empowered Optimus Supreme engaged him in battle once more, and drew all of Unicron's consciousness out of Galvatron and sealed it within his own Spark.

Enraged, Galvatron prepared to destroy Unicron's Spark, but it merged with him, enlarging him again, leading to another battle with Optimus Supreme, this time bolstered by the combined energy of all his troops' Sparks. Meanwhile, Primus merged with the Super Energon, creating a foundling sun which arrived at the site of the battle. Taking control of his body for a brief moment, Galvatron made the decision to plunge himself into the infant sun to rid himself of Unicron's posession. The super energon mass, having now recieved Unicron's spark, ignited into a powerful red sun which gave new life to Alpha Q's worlds.

Cybertron
Primus's plan to trap Unicron in the heart of a new sun failed when the star collapsed into a massive black hole (somtimes known as the "Unicron Singularity") that threatened the entire multiverse. Unicron's heralds Ramjet and Nemesis Prime arrived on Cybertron, intent on unleashing the Dead Matrix on Primus's vulnerable essence - as the Matrix was the antithesis of Unicron, so too would the Dead Matrix ensure the destruction of Primus, thereby totally destabilizing the multiverse and reducing it to a sea of entropic chaos. For the first time, it would be possible to Unicron to strike at Primus in all realities simultaneously, ending their cosmic feud once and for all.

Ramjet and Nemesis Prime were ultimately stopped by Vector Prime and allies Sentinel Maximus and Omega Prime, plucked from the midst of the Universe conflict by the multiverse-warping energies of the black hole. The Dead Matrix, however, taken by Unicron's servant Soundwave and cast into the heart of the black hole, freeing Unicron's spark, which entered the planet Yst and immediately began to sow chaos and disorder. Re-energized by the hatred and violence than ran rampant on Yst, Unicron formed a new, diminutive body for himself, born into the universe when Yst exploded.

During the time that followed, from behind the scenes Unicron orchestrated a civil war between the Mini-Cons stationed on Cybertron's moons. Revelations, Part 4 When Sentinel Maximus led a team of Autobots to stamp out the escalating conflict, Unicron's involvement was revealed, but before he could achieve victory, Primus was reawakened, and the Dark God fled as Cybertron transformed into its robot mode. Revelations, Part 6
: Unicron in the Cybertron line is a Deluxe-class toy that transforms into a futuristic tank. In robot mode he sports a battle-damaged appearance, with his head featuring a skull-like design mimicking the Unicron head that comes with Cybertron Primus. In both tank and robot modes, he features a main cannon with spring-loaded missile launcher, plus plugging a Cyber Planet Key into his back end upons up a port on his front (which bears a striking similarity to his planet maw) that reveals a (non-firing) triple-barreled cannon. His side-spikes in tank mode can be removed to become hand-weapons in robot mode.
The head is based on Armada Unicron's and half of the face stripped away to reveal a robotic "skull". To provide the impression of locomotion, tentacles were added to the base of the head.

: The packaging for this variation of Primus was specifically changed with a callout for the Unicron head. this was supposed to originally be the first version of the Primus toy shipped, and only for a limited time, but both versions ended up shipping simultaneously, leading to some hunting to get the packed-in Uniskull.

* A model sheet from later in the movie's preproduction revealed that, at one point, the planet Unicron would turn into the robot Ingestor. In the event that the Ark's mission would require more manpower, Optimus Prime had several Autobots encode copies of their personalities as light patterns within crystals, including Skids. When a large number of Prime's troops were then injured during the opening volleys of the war on Earth, Prime arranged for the construction of new bodies, which the personalities were then programmed into, bringing Skids and the others to life "for a second time." Now in a new body that transformed into a blue van, Skids' first mission was to aid in preventing Shockwave from stealing sonic energy from a Brick Springstern concert, and he immediately took a liking to the music of Earth and the possibilities of what could be learned from interacting with mankind. Rock and Roll-Out!

On the way to raid the Decepticon base, Skids accidentally clipped the car of hot-tempered Jake Dalrymple, who pursued the Autobots on their mission and distracted Skids just enough for Ravage to blast him off a cliff. Lying crippled and unable to transform, Skids was shortly discovered by register girl Charlene, who, thinking he was an ordinary van, had him fixed up with the intent of keeping him for herself. Skids was open to the idea at first, preferring to live a peaceful life to that of a warrior, but after another bout of road rage with Dalrymple, the unearthly stunts he performed left him no option but to reveal his true nature of Charlene. A somewhat unusual relationship ensued between the two, but more trouble soon came Skids's way in the form of Donny Finkleberg, who was being hunted down by Ravage. Fleeing from the Decepticon with Charlene and Donny, Skids hid out at an abandoned mining town, but yet again, the raging Dalrymple tracked him down and shattered his windshield, knocking him unconscious and into a dream where he died through his refusal to attack Megatron and save Charlene. Reawakening, he engaged Ravage in battle again, finally finding the strength to act, and causing his foe to tumble down a mineshaft. Skids then parted ways with Charlene, having come to the realisation that their two roles in life were too different for their relationship to work out. Showdown!

Skids returned to the Ark with Finkleberg, and later embarked on a mission with him to track down a group of missing Autobots who had been captured by the Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team. Unfortunately, money still governed Finkleberg's actions, and he promptly sold out Skids to RAAT's leader Walter Barnett when Skids was deactivated for the night. Skids was disassembled for study, but when the Decepticons Runabout and Runamuck appeared on Earth and began defacing landmarks, RAAT operative Circuit Breaker was forced to enter into a deal with the Autobots to stop them. Skids and the other Autobots' components were combined to form a jury-rigged robot that Circuit Breaker used to stop the Battlechargers, but in return for their co-operation, Skids and the Autobots were allowed to go free.
.
On the return trip to the Ark, however, Skids was abruptly torn from reality when the future Decepticon Galvatron traveled back in time from 2006, shunting Skids into limbo to maintain temporal balance. Skids remained in limbo for two years while Galvatron ran amok on Earth, his mind steadily succumbing to the dream-illusions created by the monstrous creatures native to the realm.

(Skids was removed from the active Autobots in the UK stories, but not the US ones. Hence, in the US comics he showed up to watch Blaster and Grimlock fight for Autobot leadership on the Moon, some time after Optimus Prime's death (which he was also around for). The UK printings of these stories tended to redraw Skids into a not-Skids robot, or black him out entirely.)

With Galvatron's eventual destruction during the Time Wars, Skids was finally returned to Earth, but the limbo-creatures had succeeded in shaping a reality from his dreams, and the nightmarish monsters that he had imagined materialised on Earth with him. Fleeing from the beasts, who desired to merge with Skids so that they might become more powerful, Skids lured them into a nuclear power plant which he had planned to detonate, wiping out the monsters and himself, but the remnants of the Autobot Wreckers and Catilla and Carnivac of the Decepticon Mayhem Attack Squad arrived to aid him, defeating the monsters. Skids joined with this group of Transformers, forming the Survivors.

(Other limbo-displayed beings didn't bring the creatures home with them, but Skids did. This may be because he had spent so long there they had solidified and grown around him, or it may be due to the unconventional way Galvatron left the twentieth century.)

Grimlock traveled to Hydrus Four to use Nucleon to revive the Dinobots. Returning to the Ark, he also pumped Nucleon into the med bays, reviving Skids and several others and headed towards Cybertron. Grimlock used the Ark as a blunt instrument across Unicron's head, forcing Skids and the others to evacuate and join the battle against the Chaos Bringer. On the Edge of Extinction!

Like many of the Autobots who first appeared in 1985, the exact circumstances behind Skids joining the original group of Earth-based Autobots remain unknown. Skids first appeared as part of a strike force that was sent to stop the Insecticons from ravaging a human farm, only to meet with failure. Apparently injured in the battle, Skids underwent some repairs by Hoist upon return to Autobot Headquarters, where he responded incredulously to Bumblebee's report that he had retrieved robotic insecticide from the planet Floron 3 to deal with the Insecticon threat.

Skids's second and final appearance saw him as part of a team sent to investigate bombs that were raining down on the city from a football stadium (the work of the Triple Changer Blitzwing). Blitzwing , however, had the stadium surrounded by a massive maze built by the Constructicons, and while attempting to traverse it, Skids crashed into Prowl and was driven over by tank-mode Blitzwing. Skids and the other Autobots' remains were then gathered by Scrapper who built a throne for himself out of them, but they were soon rescued and quickly rebuilt, and participated in the crises that ensued as Blitzwing, Astrotrain, Megatron and Devastator vied for Decepticon leadership. Following that skirmish, Prowl opined that Optimus Prime was the greatest leader in the universe, which prompted himself, Skids, Bluestreak and Tracks to form themselves into a throne for Prime; Prime refused to sit, saying that thrones were for Decepticons - he'd rather roll.

Universe: Featuring the Wreckers
Skids was among the senior scientists (including Perceptor, Quickmix, and Rad) who questioned Rodimus Prime's plan to send out the best of the remaining Autobot science and research members to establish deep-space reconnaissance posts.

Dreamwave comics continuity
8.2 million years ago, Skids was in the Chamber of Ancients, observing the ceremony in which Optronix was given the Matrix of Leadership and transformed into Optimus Prime. Immediately, three Decepticon assassins attacked, and though Skids acted to protect the new Prime, his arm was cut off by Umbra.

Skids was repaired and he returned to his post at the Decagon. While Prime was absent, Skids picked up radar of incoming Decepticon invaders and a transmission from the force's field commander, Shockwave. Skids manned auto-defenses from inside the Decagon until they and their Omega Sentinel units were destroyed. Picking up their personal weaponry, Skids and the other Autobots were all that was left to defend Iacon, but defend it they did and Shockwave's forces were driven back. The War Within

During the Dark Ages, Skids served with Prowl's faction of Autobots.

Skids was not among the Autobots who traveled to Earth aboard the Ark, remaining behind on Cybertron as the planet slipped into the deactivated state known as the Great Shutdown. When Shockwave began reactivating the planet and successfully unified the Autobot and Decepticon factions, Skids was a member of the council of Autobots who served to represent their faction in the alliance. Few of the council members were actually suited for leadership, however, and slowly found themselves giving more and more control to Shockwave. Eventually, the example shown by the Ark's returning crew and several homegrown Autobot insurgency cells tore the blinders from the council's optics, and Skids gathered his fellow councilmen in taking to the streets and ousting the Decepticons from power. War and Peace, Part 6 Several council members would then accompany Prowl and the former Autobots of Earth back to that planet to construct Autobot City, and Skids may have been among them.

Binaltech
Skids was the first of the Binaltech Autobots created simply with the intent of upgrading an existing, healthy Transformer, rather than in the name of repairing one that had been injured. Outfitted with self-repairing nanomechanical antibodies, Skids's body can, barring heavy damage in battle, theoretically function for thousands of years without maintenance. In both his original and new body, Skids dedicated time to studying the chronal warp on Dinobot Island, which gave rise to the Autobot strategy known as "Operation: Distant Thunder," a last-ditch scheme should the Decepticons tamper with the fabric of space-time. That horror occurred when Ravage used the Kronosphere to alter the timeline, and Skids prepared to initiate the plan and send Wheeljack's memory data back in time to avert the catastrophe.

: The US Alternators release differs from the japanese Binaltech release in that it has a much darker shade of blue, tinted windows, and various Scion-type tampographed flame decals. The Japanese release naturally has die cast metal parts, is painted a lighter shade of blue, has different paint decos and includes a sheet of stickers, including flames resembling the ones printed on the Alternators version, as well as some G1-style red stripes, and most humorously a Japanese "New Driver" badge.

Trivia
* Skids' animation model head appears to be based on early Diaclone promotional concept art. The toy's head would be different.
* Skids is noteworthy for his almost complete absence from the original television series. He had but two lines in two different episodes by two different voice actors.
* His bad luck doesn't stop there. Though Skids had an issue all to himself in the Marvel Comics, he spent upwards of 100 (UK) issues abandoned and forgotten in limbo while parasites ate his brain.
* Though Skids' toy turned into a Honda City Turbo, his car mode was often misinterpreted in Transformers fiction as one of the then-new minivans, despite the fact that a Honda City Turbo is a subcompact car, and as such, could theoretically be stowed in the back seat of an actual minivan. This is likely because most Americans in 1985 wouldn't know what a subcompact car is.
* In the Survivors story, Skids was suddenly drawn with Crosscut's head. "Survivors"' artist, Dan Reed, previously drew him with his real head, so it'd be interesting to learn why and how this change happened. (He would later mysteriously regain his own face.)
* In recent years, toys sporting the name "Skids" require an additional "Autobot" prefix for trademark reasons, hence making the official name "Autobot Skids".
During a battle for the Cyber Planet Keys with the Decepticons, Optimus Prime intended to send Overhaul and Landmine to the Jungle Planet. However, an attack by the Decepticons disrupted Vector Prime's gateway portal and Overhaul was left on Jungle Planet alone. There he became embroiled in the power struggle between Snarl, Snarl's mentor Backstop, and the Jungle Planet's brutal tyrant Scourge.

He trained hard, but could not best Scourge at single combat even after building up a tolerance to his flame breath. He sought training from Backstop and Snarl, and eventually invoked the spirit of the world, finding himself transformed into the mega-feline Leobreaker.

When Scourge challenges Optimus to a match for control of the planet, they go mano a mano, just Optimus and Scourge... and Leobreaker lending Prime the phenomenal power of Savage Claw mode as his arm. Nobody mentions whether or not this is cheating. However, due to Scourge's "take on all challengers" attitude, he probably didn't have a problem with it.

:Overhaul's 360 degree shoulder articulation (in addition to his waist and head) arguably gives this little figure more satisfying poseability than his larger brother. Okay, keep your shirt on. I said arguably.

Trivia
* The original plans for Leobreaker involved a more coherent Savage Claw Mode arm design, complete with fingers and thumbs. But a variety of factors resulted in the simplified form, including rising petroleum prices.

* Additionally, one of the early prototypes featured a faux-SUV chest for Leobreaker, probably to link him more closely to his first body. Like the previously-listed changes, this was likely removed to lower the production cost -- or possibly it was discarded for other reasons.

* The television CGI model of Leobreaker used during the combiner sequence animation, as well as the representation of the combined arm mode is based upon a modified version of one of the original prototypes of Leobreaker, who, as mentioned above, had a much more complex and believable 'arm-mode'.

* Originally, Overhaul was going to be called Trailbreaker, in reference to the Generation 1 character of the same name. However, the trademark could not be secured for this, resulting in the name-change.

* In a related tidbit, the original naming idea was apparently to go from Trailbreaker to Leobreaker. When they couldn't get Trailbreaker, it seems Hasbro considered naming Overhaul's lion form Overcast, as that name is listed as Leobreaker's American name in the Galaxy Force Phase Ignition guidebook. However, they ultimately kept the name Leobreaker.

* The combination sequence between Galaxy Convoy and Leo Breaker is a reference to the combination of Goldymarg and GaoGaiGar in the anime The King of Braves GaoGaiGar.

* Both of this character's bodies feature three claws extending from each wrist. This makes him Wolverine.

* The television CGI model of Leobreaker used during the combiner sequence animation, as well as the representation of the combined arm mode is based upon a modified version of one of the original prototypes of Leobreaker, who, as mentioned above, had a much more complex and believable 'arm-mode'.

:Overhaul is an Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy. Upon recieving a new body, he took the name Leobreaker.

Overhaul is an elder Autobot warrior, having fought alongside Optimus Prime during the Unicron Battles and Powerlinx Battles, and likely before that, as well. He is gruff and oftentimes confrontational, but exceptionally loyal to the Autobot cause. He says he prefers to work alone, but knows deep down the value of friendship and teamwork.

As Leobreaker, his gung-ho attitude is heavily amplified, but he's no longer so independent-minded. He's become fast friends with Snarl of the Jungle Planet, and has even gained his own personal Mini-Con attendants. He's even taken a shining to Earth team sports like baseball, possibly as a replacement for war. This new focus on teamwork does have its downside; he harbors a litlte bit of resentment that his "Savage Claw Mode" combination with Optimus might not be as strong as the "Sonic Wing Mode" the Autobot leader can form with Wing Saber.

He is the cousin of the Decepticon Brushguard.

Omega Supreme is an ancient Cybertronian who single-handedly battled and defeated Unicron way back in the distant past of Cybertron. Subsequent to this, he spent millions of years in stasis below the surface of the planet. He was awakened when Primus guided Doctor Jones to his location, and embued him with the Spark of Combination. This allowed Omega Supreme to join the Autobots' struggle against the Decepticons and Unicron, in which he would combine with Optimus Prime to form the powerful Optimus Supreme.
: Energon Omega Supreme is nominally composed of two major components, the Omega Train - a train engine with a large construction arm on its caboose - and the Omega Battleship - a multi-gunned space battleship. Both components can link together in vehicle mode to form the Battle Train, and can be reconfigured into ground based weapon emplacements. Additionally, the two parts Powerlinx combine together, along with the Omega Headmaster component form the robot Omega Supreme, or without the Headmaster to form Omega Grand.
: He can combine with Energon Optimus Prime to form (Omega) Optimus Supreme, with Optimus sitting inside Omega Supreme's chest cavity. This configuration also allows the attachment of Optimus Prime's "Prime Force" drone limb teams as auxilary weapons.
Yes he can be defeated by the Crumplezone figure that's packed with him, though it's difficult to do (aim near the right knee).

:At long range Omega Supreme is meant to be knocked down by hitting both the targets on his knees, unlocking the joints so he falls over backwards thanks to the weight of his upper body. ==Trivia==
* According to Aaron Archer at the 2005 Hasbro panel, Energon Omega Supreme was originally going to be part rocket like the Generation 1 toy, but it was decided that a battleship was "cooler".

* Also according to Archer, the main toy's body has that little pop-up head because he never liked how if you lost the Headmaster figure for the old Generation 1 toys, then your robot had no head at all. At Least this way, the big robot has something.

Optimus Prime fights for truth, justice, and the Autobot way. He has led the search for the Mini-Cons, faced the resurrection of a dark god, and now aims to stop Megatron from obtaining the Cyber Planet Keys. He's also died a couple times, and tends to find a second-in-commandy-type to combine with to form a super robot.

He learns martial arts from whoever turns into a bulldozer, thinks Hot Shot has leadership potential and tends to recruit teenage children.

Millions of years ago, a young Optimus Prime fought with a great Decepticon warrior known as Scavenger. So often were their clashes, and so familiar were they to each other, the pair eventually became friends, and Scavenger signed up with the Autobots. Seeing great potential in the young Autobot leader, Scavenger taught Optimus Prime how to fight in hand-to-hand combat. Later, veteran Autobot Landmine trained Optimus in metallikato shortly before leaving Cybertron with Rodimus. Optimus later notes that their training made him the warrior and soldier he is today. Trust (Armada episode)

Many years later, it is a more mature Optimus Prime that leads a small Autobot unit to Earth after the activation of the Mini-Con homing beacon. This beacon signaled to all the Transformers on Cybertron that the much-coveted Mini-Cons had survived their million years-long disappearance. After warping to Earth, Optimus saves three human children from the Decepticon leader, Megatron, who arrived on the alien world first.

Clashing with his arch enemy, Optimus Prime bought the children and their Mini-Con High Wire time to escape while around them, other Transformers warped into the battlefield. Later, after the Decepticons had reformatted themselves into suitable new vehicle modes, Optimus Prime saves them again, joined by his two subordinates Red Alert and Hot Shot. First Encounter

Befriending these children, he introduces his crew of Autobots to them. The children aid Prime as he leads his crew around the world, searching for the long-lost Mini-Con Transformers, before the Decepticon forces can take them and use them for their own evil deeds.

Soon afterwards, both the Autobots and Decepticons detect a Mini-Con signal located in the Grand Canyon. With the help of the kids, Optimus Prime manages to pinpoint the location of the Mini-Con panel before he is confronted by Megatron, powerlinked to Leader-1. Outgunned, Optimus Prime is saved when Starscream arrogantly underestimates the Street Action Team's combined form of Perceptor. This distraction gives Optimus the opportunity to activate the Mini-Con panel, revealing that its occupant is Sparkplug, Optimus Prime's old Mini-Con partner and friend. Together they Powerlink, activating Optimus's powerful Maximum Blast which sends the Decepticons into retreat. Comrade

Through the treachery of Sideways and Thrust, the Decepticons manage to secure all three of the legendary Mini-Con weapons that form the Hydra Cannon, the most powerful weapon in the universe. Mounting their new doomsday device aboard a starship, Megatron decides to wipe out the Autobot base on Earth, regardless of the massive collateral damage to the planet itself. Optimus Prime and Jetfire launch a pre-emptive strike against the warship in the hopes of disabling the weapon and rescuing the Mini-Cons. However, they are outnumbered forcing a desperate Optimus, to throw himself into the path of the cannon and use the Matrix of Leadership to save Earth, but at the cost of his life. Crisis

Under the leadership of Hot Shot, the other Autobots give chase to the Decepticons aboard the Axalon. During a confrontation with their enemies, the Mini-Cons reach out to each other and resurrect Optimus from within the Matrix. There is little time to rejoice, as the Autobots pursue the Decepticons on their way back to Cybertron. Miracle

After Unicron's apparent defeat, both Optimus Prime and Galvatron succumb to their base natures and have one last battle within the Chaos Bringer. Fighting each other to a standstill, both are surprised when Unicron suddenly comes back to life, feeding off their hate for each other. Galvatron is drawn towards Unicron's maw, with Prime holding onto his tank treads, telling him to hold on. His nemesis then makes the decision to sacrifice his life, giving Prime a final victory, so that Unicron may be destroyed and their race will survive.

In the aftermath, Optimus Prime reflects that he doesn't deserve the Matrix of Leadership and leaves both the Autobots and Cybertron for places unknown. Mortal Combat

A few years after the defeat of Unicron, Optimus Prime returns from exile to a newly-unified Cybertron where Autobots and Decepticons live side-by-side in peace. Reassuming leadership of the Autobots, Optimus Prime establishes a dialogue with the Earth governments with the help of his human friends. Earth sends a delegation to Cybertron, consisting of the three kids and Dr. Brian Jones, the foremost expert in the newly discovered ore energon that both worlds covet.

Jones had brought along his young son, Chad (also known as 'Kicker'), who was frightened by the tall, menacing robots. When the boy ran away to a ruined and abandoned part of Cybertron, Optimus Prime gave chase, warning Kicker that the area was strictly off limits. The boy accidently fell and found his way into a massive darkened chamber where an energy being known as Primus saves him. Optimus Prime finds his way into the chamber just as Primus evolves the human child. Sometime after this, Primus (now known as the creator-god of the Transformers), gives Optimus the Spark of Combination, allowing him to grant combining powers to other Autobots.

Almost a decade later, it is brought to the attention of Optimus Prime that the energon mining facilities in Sol's asteroid belt, as well as their base on Mars had been attacked by a mysterious force of beast-like Transformers. Primus warns him that the enemy is after the energon, causing Optimus to assemble a unit so he can personally assess the situation. Finding no life on Mars, his unit then moves to Earth, where he saves Kicker and Ocean City from an attack by the same creatures. Cybertron City

Primus' plan to trap Unicron inside an energon sun has failed, and this star has collapsed into a massive black hole. Optimus Prime faces the greatest test in his existence when his home planet is threatened with destruction, but realises there is no choice but to evacuate the population to Earth. As they make plans to leave, a mysterious time-travelling Transformer named Vector Prime appears, advising Optimus to search for the Cyber Planet Keys, the only means of restoring Primus' spark, and the only way they can save Cybertron and the rest of the universe from oblivion. Fallen (Cybertron episode)

Arriving on Earth, Optimus Prime is forced to break his own strict orders to hide from the human population when he rescues the injured Landmine and three human children from Thundercracker. Befriending the children, named Coby, Bud and Lori, he relies on them to educate the Autobots about their new home and how to blend into the environment as Robots in Disguise. Inferno (Cybertron episode) Hidden

Soon afterwards, the children's hometown of Boulder, Colorado is threatened with devastation by a landslide. Understanding how the humans would feel at the loss of their home, the Autobots leap into action, rescuing people trapped and leading them to safety, all the while in disguise. Optimus Prime (somehow) prevents the landslide by pumping water out of an underground lake beneath the mountain, causing it to collapse in on itself and eliminate the threat. Collapse
Optimus Prime is notified by Hot Shot that the Decepticons are attacking Mini-Con villages. Later on, when the war comes to Earth, he saves the kids from Megatron, who is trying to get the Mini-Cons that they have befriended. After retrieving a Mini-Con escape pod in Alaska, he is suddenly pulled into an alternate reality Cybertron, one in which Unicron has already decimated the planet and is preparing to return and consume it. He is ultimately rescued by Jetfire and Over-Run, and uses his knowledge of the fate that awaits Cybertron to rally both Decepticons and Autobots together and defeat the Chaos Bringer.

Ten years after the defeat of Unicron, Over-Run showed Prime how to commune with Cybertron itself. Doing so reformatted the Autobot leader into a body capable of Powerlinking with a team of 'drone' vehicles, and granting the ability to combine with each other to other Autobots.

Upon returning to Earth, he decided that the Autobots will no longer hide from the inhabitants, but work with them openly. This decision led, among other things, to the Autobots' induction into the UN.

When last seen (before the bankruptcy of Dreamwave Productions), he was attempting to escape from within the remains of Unicron, after Megatron's trapped spark used him to regain his freedom.
*Optimus Prime (Super Base, 2002/2003)
: Japanese ID number: MC-01

: The first Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime toy transforms into a longnose truck cab of made-up model. His clear-plastic smokestacks can detach and form a double-barrelled pistol that he can hold in robot mode, and a button on top of his head causes his mouthplate to jiggle up and down as if he were talking (the irony being that while this was a familiar trait of G1 Optimus Prime, in the Armada animated series, this Prime's mouthplate remained static when he talked). He can also hold a large cannon that is stored within his trailer, and his chest flips down to reveal a (non-removable) Matrix. He is packaged with his Mini-Con partner Sparkplug.

:The toy's primary gimmick is its auto-transforming trailer. Once activated, it transforms into one of three configurations, triggered by an infra-red signal transmitted from the cab robot. Transforming the cab into robot mode will cause the trailer to automatically flip open the traditional battle-station configuration - Prime can stand in the center of the base, but otherwise, it is more to scale with Mini-Cons (despite the fact that it lacks any great amount of flat surfaces for them to stand on). The base features a central tower of the base features a pop-out artillery emplacement and a mount for Prime's large cannon; a rotating missile-firing turret; two Mini-Con storage bays, one of which is equipped with a tab that owners can manually slide to launch a Mini-Con from the bay; and two live Mini-Con hardpoints, one of which pops up a non-firing turret, the other activating a laser noise.

:Prime's cab and trailer can also combine to form a super robot mode. The cab transforms into the torso portion - doing so causes the trailer to automatically raise itself up off the ground to become a pair of legs (as long as you're not playing with it on carpet). Connecting the torso to the legs causes the super-robot head to pop up with a metallic shriek. Pressing the Autobot symbol on the figure's chest activates a pulsing laser sound effect, and the small grey button on his right shoulder illuminates his fist with a red LED, which can illuminate either of his guns, as well as - notionally - the Star Saber sword. The Star Saber was specifically cast in clear plastic for this purpose, but in practise, the idea was something of a failure, with the light failing to carry even halfway up the blade. Prime's firing missiles and Mini-Con activated gimmicks remain accessible in this mode, but look a bit doofy if you deploy them.

:In lieu of combing with his trailer, Prime can also link his torso up to Armada Jetfire, who forms a pair of legs, as "Jet Prime" (or "Jet Convoy" if you own the Japanese version). In addition to this, he can combine in various configurations with Armada Overload, who can form a pair of massive cannons that attach to either Prime's base mode, or mount over the shoulders of his super robot torso (with either his trailer or Jetfire as legs), forming Optimus Prime Megaweapon (or Magna Convoy).

:The initial Hasbro release of this toy had tabs in its shoulder joints that did not allow the shoulders to rotate above the horizontal default position, so as not to break the wires that run through the toy's right arm in super mode. Coupled with the limited elbow joints, Optimus Prime could only point his weapons in the direction towards the ground. These tab were not in the Takara version (which also differed in its use of bright yellow plastics and paint in place of the Hasbro's gold), and were also removed from subsequent version of the Hasbro release.

: Late in the Japanese run, Optimus toys in Jusco stores came with blind-packed "Space Galaxy" versions of the individual Destruction Mini-Con Team members, one toy per box.

*Optimus Prime (Supercon, 2003)
: Japanese ID number: MC-06

: A smaller version of the Super Base toy, this version of Armada Optimus Prime retains the vehicle mode and coloration, but has no trailer or super robot connectivity (though he can still pull the trailer). He retains the flip-down chest in robot mode, but has no molded Matrix. Instead, the toy is designed for maximum posability. Attaching a Mini-Con to the Powerlinx plus on Optimus' back activates a double-fisted "punching" gimmick. He came with the Mini-Con Over-Run. It's worth noting that this Optimus Prime is the shortest of the Armada Supercons in robot mode. His smokestacks can come off like the Super Base version, but lack the "gun" mode or any other method of connectivity to Optimus.

: The initial release of the figure featured silver lights on his roof; later on, the lights were changed to yellow, and later still, an Autobot emblem was added to the roof of the vehicle. The latter two changes only affected the American release.

: This mold was also used to make Armada Nemesis Prime, Universe Ultra Magnus, and the first Cybertron Deluxe-class Optimus Prime.

: Shipping in a great many waves throughout most of the later run of the line, Supercon Optimus became a notorious pegwarmer.

: The acronym "STD" in the Japanese release ("STD Convoy") stands for "standard," as in this is the standard toy release of Convoy, without a Super Mode.
: This is an extensive redeco of the Super Base Armada Optimus Prime toy, with the new colours bearing little similarity to the original color scheme. Though, the colors of the cab truck are vaguely similar to the Diaclone toy that would become Ultra Magnus. *Battle for the Matrix (Multi-pack, 2003)

: A K-Mart exclusive set released on "Black Friday" (the day after Thanksgiving, the most hellishly busy shopping day of the year), this set consists of Super Base Optimus Prime, Jetfire, their respective partner Mini-Cons Sparkplug and Comettor, the Adventure Mini-Con Team, and oddly enough, Longarm. Optimus Prime's red plastics and paint were replaced with gold, the only changes made to anyone in the set. It is this set from which the name of Optimus Prime's combined mode with Jetfire, Jet Prime, comes.

*Magna Convoy DX Set (Multi-pack, 2003)

: This set is a Toys "R" Us Japan exclusive, consisting of a slightly redecoed, and more show accurate Powerlinx Optimus Prime (dubbed "Convoy Final Battle Coloration"), a "crystal" version of Overload ("Ultra Magnus Special Clear Version") made out of transluscent plastics, and an exclusive X-Dimension redeco of the Street Action Mini-Con Team. This set is entirely "new" content not available in the normal mass-retail Micron Legend line, and is also the last release of "X-Dimension" Mini-Cons.

: Rather than coming with individual bio cards for Optimus and Overload, this set came with a single card for the "Magna Convoy" combination of the two. (And no card for the Street Action Team, oddly enough.)

*Optimus Prime (Built to Rule, 2004)

:Armada Built to Rule Optimus Prime transforms into a fair approximation of his vehicle mode, but the robot mode is quite inaccurate, due to the very broad, flat Trans-Skeleton with thin, stick-like limbs attached to it. The set came with a very simplistic "Mini-Con" Sparkplug partner kit that did have a more dedicated "Powerlinx" connector than the standard construction pegs, though these are a bit too thin to be used as attachment points for regular Mini-Cons (they stay, sort of, but it's a very loose connection). The 101-piece set also features pressure-launch missile-firing "smokestack" cannons.

: Energon Optimus' first toy transforms into a Cybertronic short-nosed truck cab. A switch on his back alternates between different electronic sound effects, corresponding to his four drone-vehicles. (Note: The Takara version did not have the electronic sounds.) A button on his side also activates electronic sounds and a light in his chest. He also has a spring-loaded missile launcher hand-cannon.

: Optimus' trailer is designed to carry his four drone-vehicles (The "Grand Force" in Japan): Fire-1 (fire truck), Copter-2 (helicopter), Digger-3 (drill tank with gear-wheel-activated spinning drill), and Submarine-4 (submarine). Each of these drones can attach to one of Optimus's limbs to form a variety of super modes (which the Japanese line dubbed "Grand Cross"). The base robot can also combine with Energon Wing Saber to form "Optimus Prime Fight Mode" and "Optimus Prime Flight Mode", and Omega Supreme to form "Optimus Supreme" (or "Powerlinx Omega Supreme", according to the toy packaging). The Omega Supreme combination can also employ the drone-units.

: The earliest releases of this toy had a different head sculpt with a mouth where the faceplate is, similar to Beast Wars Optimal Optimus. It was soon replaced by the more familiar head sculpt with a faceplate. The Takara version of the toy uses the mouthless molding, but also has a chromed front grill and more intricate paint applications.

: A redeco of this mold was planned to be released with Smallest Transformers Optimus Prime as a Target exclusive, but was canceled.
*SL Grand Convoy (Deluxe, 2004)
: Japanese ID number: SC-13

: This release of Grand Convoy/Optimus Prime was a small Deluxe-class toy that did not have a trailer, any electronics, or the ability to form Super Mode. However, it could Powerlinx with compatible Deluxe-class and Mega-class Autobots. Like the Armada Deluxe-Class version of Prime, this one too was on the small side for its size class.

: His clear blue energon weapon is sculpted to resemble somewhat the Optimus Prime Energon Blaster role-play toy.

*SL Grand Convoy w/ Kicker (multi-pack, 2003)

: Grand Convoy was also packed in a set with an exclusive variant of Kicker. This version of the toy has a chromed grill (the standard retail version uses painted plastic) and is supposedly uses slightly shinier plastics.

*Optimus Prime versus Megatron (multi-pack, 2004)

: A Toys "R" Us exclusive in the US, though sold at pretty much any retailer that wanted to carry it elsewhere, this was merely the US release of the Deluxe-class Energon Optimus Prime from the Japanese SS-03 set, and the smaller Japanese Megatron toy. There are no appreciable differences between this set and the original Japanese versions.

*Optimus Prime and Overload (Multi-pack, 2005)

: A CostCo-exclusive redeco of the Armada Optimus Prime toy in black, yellow, and brick red, it also came with a redeco of Armada Overload. It is from this set that the name of Prime's combined form with Overload, Optimus Prime Megaweapon, comes.

:The Happy Meal version of Energon Optimus Prime is much simplified, yet features a very similar transformation sequence. Due to his limited articulation, his shoulder insignias are only visible in vehicle mode or with his arms splayed out horizontally.

:His torso his hollow to store his electronic energon cube. He also comes with a "Mini-con" jet that can mount on the top of his cab in truck form. The "Mini-con" is actually a remote control which activates his energon cube's sound effects.
*Optimus Prime (Built to Rule, 2005)

: The Energon version of Built To Rule Optimus Prime was designed with a much more solid skeleton with larger, blockier limbs. He can be rebuilt from a Cybertronic truck cab with a trailer-mounted, pressure-launch dual-missile cannon (with electronic lights and sounds) to a robot, to basically whatever you feel like doing with the parts.

: Unfortunately, due to the slow performance of the Built to Rule line overall, the Energon versions only had a limited, test-market release initially in and around Cincinnati, Ohio. The sets later filtered out into many Tuesday Morning and Ollie's chain stores at drastically dropped prices.

:Cybertron Optimus Prime transforms into a heavily-armed fire truck of made up origin. The wings and guns can be rearranged so the fire truck has a flight mode. Like Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, the forward section of the fire truck detaches to transform into his standard robot mode, while the rear 'trailer' portion becomes a battle station (if you squint).

:The trailer can combine with the standard robot mode to form a massive, winged backpack for the toy's Super Mode. A lever on the back of Optimus Prime's head raises the traditional Prime faceplate, covering his Optimus Primal-style mouth.

:When a Cyber Planet Key is inserted into the large, rectangular electronic rail gun, the panels covering it open up and a different sound effect is played when the firing button is pressed. An LED also lights up. When a Cyber Key is inserted into the cannon that the rifle can attach to, two spring-loaded missile launchers pop out.

:The Japanese release (Galaxy Convoy) featured a few additional paint applications, and the backpack's wings are attached by a metal hinge, and therefore cannot be removed.

:In Super Mode, Optimus Prime can combine with Leobreaker to form "Savage Claw Mode", or Wing Saber to form "Sonic Wing Mode".

:This very simplified version of Cybertron Optimus Prime has no weapons or trailer, just the front portion of the truck. :Sonic Convoy was a Toys R Us Japan exclusive redeco of Galaxy Convoy (Optimus Prime) and Sonic Bomber (Wing Saber). Most of Galaxy Convoy's truck cab parts were cast in translucent blue and red plastic, with the trailer being cast in much deeper reds, more metallic silver and chromed red opaque plastics.

:The only appreciable difference between EX-02 Sonic Bomber and the regular release was that all of his previous vaccum-metalized chrome parts and red painted parts were now vaccum-metalized or chrome-painted red.

:This set also came with Cobybot, a slight redeco of Scrapmetal using the humanoid robot head that is usually discarded when Scrapmetal toys are assembled.
:A recolor of the Supercon Armada Optimus Prime recolored to resemble his the Leader class Galaxy Force Optimus Prime figure. Like the original coloring of this toy, the forearms of early releases of this toy were switched, making the elbow completely useless. However, this was corrected and later releases have his arms bend properly. At the tail end of the Cybertron line, the four planet symbols were added to the truck-mode's cab.

: Optimus Prime includes a Cybertron style Cyber Key with the code d56b . Unfortunately, using this code on Hasbro's website actually yields information intended for Demolishor and vice-versa.
:Released at the tail-end of Cybertron, Galaxy Force Optimus Prime is a repaint of the Leader-class toy. The main differences are black replaces the blue plastic and blue paint, tinted translucent parts replace the translucent blue parts, and the toy's rifles, rail gun covers, missile launchers and leg guns being cast in red plastic. The unique Matrix-shaped Cyber Planet Key is finally painted gold.

:The shoulders are adorned with the four planet symbols of the Cyber Planet Keys, supposedly to represent Optimus Prime as the leader of all remaining Transformers.

* According to the Armada Playstation 2 game instruction booklet, Optimus Prime's Armada body has the following statistics:
:Mass: 18,960 lbs
:Robot height: 22' 11"
:Robot top speed: 31 mph
:Vehicle height: 8' 3"
:Vehicle top speed: 125 mph
:Vehicle power: 700 hp @ 2500 rpm

* One of the earliest Armada Optimus Prime concepts depicts him as being an ENORMOUSLY HUGE MONSTER TRUCK. Makes one wonder about the origins of the "Monster Convoy" inscription on Super Base Optimus Prime's tires.

* For at least part of the Energon animated series, the CGI model for Optimus Prime's handgun resembled an oversized six-shooter rather than the actual toy's chamber-less handgun for unknown reasons.
