Smokescreen

:Smokescreen is an Autobot from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Few Autobots are as tough and steadfast as Smokescreen. He doesn't believe in giving up, and he's ready to lay down his life to defend the weak, be they Autobot, Mini-Con or human. Though he's ironheaded and unshakable in battle (and a little bit careless), showing no mercy to the Decepticons, around the base is another matter entirely. He's a kind, friendly bot who always seems to have a good word or good-natured joke ready.

This iron resolve only intensified after Smokescreen fell in battle from a near-fatal encounter with Megatron. Rebuilt entirely and now calling himself Hoist, his jovial moments come less frequently now, and his occasional lapses in judgment are a thing of the past. Even tougher than before, he sometimes quips that nearly dying was the best thing that ever happened to him.

A million years ago, Smokescreen and Scavenger were guarding the entrance to the Loop when Hot Shot barged in, demanding to know where Optimus Prime. Smokescreen informed him that Prime was in the satellite room and asked if anything was wrong. All Hot Shot would say was that wrong doesn't begin to describe the situation. Dreamwave Armada issue 1 What had happened was that a group of renegade Cybertronians calling themselves "Decepticons" were attacking Mini-Con villages and capturing the inhabitants for some reason. While sifting through the rubble of Village C-52, Smokescreen lost his temper at the plight of the "poor little guys" and couldn't wait to get his hands on these Decepticon aggressors. Unfortunately, he got his wish when the Decepticon leader, Megatron attacked Cyber City, with his captured Mini-Cons re-engineered to Powerlinx with bulks, providing them great power. The Autobots were beaten up and forced to retreat. Dreamwave Armada issue 2

For a million years the civil war raged on; the once-proud Autobots struggled to defend themselves against the powerful Mini-Con-augmented Decepticons, who were in possession of Cybertron's only remaining Mini-Cons, the others having escaped at the beginning of the conflict. Hope came in the form of a Mini-Con Reactivation Signal sent from a distant world called Earth and the Autobots resolved to go there and fight for Truth, Justice and Freedom. Almost immediately after arriving on Earth, Smokescreen was destroying public property and suggesting that they simply smash their way across the planet to find the Mini-Cons, a plan that Scavenger agreed to, as Cybertron was their priority. This callous attitude earned them both a sharp, furious rebuke from Optimus Prime, who refused to stoop down to the level of the Decepticons. However, he also understood their frustration, telling them to save their anger for the Decepticons. Smokescreen apologised, as he was just longing for things to go back to the way they were before. Dreamwave Armada issue 4

Unfortunately for the Autobots, the Decepticons had already arrived and were chasing after Sparkplug's group of Mini-Cons and their human friends, Rad, Carlos and Alexis. While Optimus Prime kept Megatron distracted by trash talking the Decepticon's failure to defeat the Autobots with all of their power, Smokescreen snuck up and demolished the cliff face Megatron was perched upon with his head. This only succeeded in infuriating Megatron, who eventually got the upper hand in his fight with Prime when he powerlinked with all of the Decepticon Mini-Cons. Smokescreen tried to assist, only to have Prime thrown into him for his trouble. As things looked grim, Jolt's group of Mini-Cons arrived and powerlinked with the Autobots. Liftor linked with Smokescreen, giving him a mighty shoulder-mounted cannon. At a tactical disadvantage, the Decepticons were forced to flee. Dreamwave Armada issue 5

Soon after establishing their base, Optimus detected unusually high energy readings in the vicinity of Death Valley in California, and sent Smokescreen and Scavenger to investigate. After some time, they reported back that the Decepticons were readying to launch some sort of rocket. Unfortunately, the Autobots were occupied with a Mini-Con rescue operation in Alaska, so Laserbeak brought them orders to do whatever was necessary to stop the Decepticons... about twenty minutes after the rocket had been launched. Fire & Ice

After arriving back from Death Valley, Smokescreen and Scavenger found an extensively damaged Optimus Prime inside Autobase: Earth and rushed him to the medical bay. When the others returned from Alaska sans their Optimus Prime, together worked to save this Prime's life and find out what had happened to their Optimus Prime. Sadly, despite their best efforts, this Prime awakened momentarily to deliver a cryptic warning about the walls of reality crumbling and the coming chaos before dying. Worlds Collide, Part 1 of 4

When the Decepticons detected the Autobots searching the multiverse for Optimus Prime, Megatron launched an attack on Autobase: Earth, seizing the opportunity to hit the Autobots while their biggest guns was missing. During the battle, Smokescreen and Scavenger were the front-line defense sent to buy time, but were run off the narrow road they were on by Demolishor. Smokescreen tried to recover, but got blasted in the chest by Megatron's cannon at point-blank range. Worlds Collide, Part 2 of 4

Though the blast didn't kill him, it left him in critical condition. Worlds Collide, Part 4 of 4 He was taken to the Autobase on Cybertron for extensive repairs, though there was a fear he might never recover. During the final battle against Unicron, Hot Shot, Scavenger and Red Alert blasted Megatron into the Chaos Bringer to avenge Smokescreen. The End
Energon comic
Ten years later, Smokescreen returned to action with a new body and a new name, "Hoist". When thousands of Terrorcon clones attacked four Earth cities, Hoist was dispatched to handle the Divebomb clones invading Toronto as part of Hot Shot's unit. Multiplicity, Pt. 2

When the signal released by the reactivation of the Mini-Con panels on Earth reached Cybertron, Optimus Prime quickly assembled a small team of Autobots to travel to the planet an investigate. As they were departing through the space bridge, Smokescreen came running through the crowd, intent on joining them. He leapt through the space bridge portal at the last second, just as it was closing, and as a consequence, was separated from his comrades and deposited on a different part of the planet.

Smokescreen was first encountered by the kids in a semi-abandoned subway complex, while they were helping the Autobots search for the Mini-Con Drill Bit. For some reason, Smokescreen did not make verbal contact with the humans, and instead decided to chase after them menacingly in vehicle mode, almost killing them with his crane hook. Only after the mission failed, with Cyclonus securing Drill Bit, did Smokescreen reveal himself, apologizing for scaring the children. Underground

Smokescreen went on to serve as a reliable and capable member of the Autobot team. In particular, his skills as a sniper through the use of his Powerlinx crane cannon were much valued for their ability to hit Decepticon aerial threats accurately most of the time. However, when the Race Mini-Con Team were recovered and formed the Skyboom Shield, Smokescreen was regularly assigned as being its wielder, changing his role in the unit from sniper to defender. Often, he would launch the Skyboom from his crane arm to his Autobot allies facing Megatron directly. Tactician

When Optimus Prime's old friend and informant Scavenger joined the Autobots, Smokescreen was the most vocal in voicing his distrust of Scavenger, whom he labeled a no-good traitor, and his overall dissatisfaction over Optimus's trust in the turncoat. He tried to convince fellow Autobots Red Alert and Hot Shot about Scavenger's alleged duplicity and lack of resolve during a battle. However, Scavenger's absence for the majority of the battle was due to a plan that only he, Optimus and Red Alert were privy to, and when Scavenger's involvement proved vital to the subsequent victory, all doubts Smokescreen had as to his teammate's loyalty were erased, forcing him to make an apology. Trust (Armada)

When the awesome power of the Requiem Blaster was demonstrated, the Decepticons launched an all-out attack on the Autobot Base in a bid to seize the Space Mini-Con Team, who formed the weapon. Smokescreen was left alone in the base to guard the Mini-Cons while the rest of the Autobots counter-attacked their enemies. Unfortunately, Megatron created a diversion and broke into the base and wounded Smokescreen just as the Autobots realised they had been outmaneuvered and rushed back inside. As Megatron gloated and prepared to fire his new Mini-Con superweapon at the Autobots, Smokescreen used his towline to pull the Requiem Blaster's barrel away from his friends, toward himself, only for Megatron to fire it at point-blank range.

The terrible beam cut straight through Smokescreen, burying him into a wall, to the shock of everybody, including Megatron. Megatron then turned to Optimus Prime, intending to finish what he started, but Smokescreen staggered out of the hole and collapsed to his knees, his outer shell melting off its frame. As the dying Autobot reached out to the Decepticon leader, Thrust suggested that they retreat, and Megatron agreed. Smokescreen collapsed into a heap as Megatron warped away.

Optimus Prime cradled his soldier, who reported his failure to protect the Mini-Cons and went into stasis lock. Optimus Prime led the distressed Autobots into a military salute for their fallen comrade, before letting out a cry of anguish. Sacrifice

Red Alert rebuilt Smokescreen in a new body despite ninety percent of him being damaged and he returned just in time to stop Hot Shot and the recently defected Starscream from killing each other. He basically chucked boulders at them. Regeneration

He eventually decided to go by his toy's name. Miracle
Panini Armada comic
In the distant past, Smokescreen defended the main Autobot base on Cybertron from a Decepticon attack, and retreated when it turned out the base was lined with explosives. Panini Armada issue 9

Station on Cybertron while Optimus Prime went to Earth, Smokescreen and Scavenger were sent to the alien planet's moon by Jetfire to stop the Decepticons from searching for Mini-Cons there. Upon arrival, they didn't have time to do much other than complain about space bridges before they came under attack by Mini-Con-augmented Decepticons. The outgunned Autobots fled, but Smokescreen was shot and injured by Demolishor, who decided to end things by running him over. Luckily, the helpful Mini-Con Liftor showed up and power-linked with Smokescreen, allowing him simply to punch the Decepticon tank aside. With Scavenger also obtaining a Mini-Con of his own, the Decepticons gave up on the search and retreated. Panini Armada issue 6

Later, the Decepticons returned to the Moon, where they constructed a base and planned to fire missiles at the Autobot base on Earth. Smokescreen and Scavenger were again summoned to help out (or maybe they never left the Moon to begin with), but the security around the Decepticons' missile silo was too much for them. However, the security around their space bridge controls was minimal, so the Autobots devised a new plan. When the missiles were fired, Smokescreen and Scavenger linked the Decepticons' space bridge to the Autobots' one on Earth, allowing them to transport the warheads straight back to the Decepticon base. Victorious, Smokescreen drove away as the base went up in flames. Panini Armada issue 8
Smokescreen was part of the Autobot forces during a battle in Yellowstone National Park. After Optimus Prime warned that the area was too geologically unstable to battle in, he suggested that they find a more stable battleground. Lonesome Diesel

A presumably alternate-universe incarnation of Smokescreen was engaged in a death-duel with a presumably alternate-universe incarnation of Primax Smokescreen within the Cauldron arena, deep inside the shattered remnants of Unicron. ==Notes==
* It is believed that the Hoist mold was originally planned to have a gear system that would activate gear-driven Mini-Con gimmicks (like those of Refute and the Adventure Mini-Con Team) when his shovel rod was pushed. This is supported by the gear gimmick on Refute, who is too big to fit onto Cyclonus. This is further evidenced on Hoist's card art, wherein the Mini-Con peg is missing from his left shoulder, with a Cyclonus-styled "clip" drawn where the peg would normally be on the finished toy. Oddly, the left arm was not the one with a gimmick.

* It is also believed that the Hoist mold was originally designed to be a separate character, but was changed to become a new Smokescreen body at the behest of Takara. Official confirmation or denial of this has not yet been obtained, however.

* The "S.D. 74" on the Hasbro version of the Hoist mold is an in-joke, according to Aaron Archer. He has pointedly and repeatedly refused to explain the joke, so its meaning remains a mystery. However, an explanation of sorts was offered at 2008: The marking evidently originates from an incident at the San Diego Comic Con involving an unfortunate mix of Hasbro employees, alcohol, and a construction crane. Whatever happened, apparently the Petco Park stadium was nearly not built because of it. Yowza. (How the 74 relates to this, exactly, remains uncertain.)
Iceberg isn't just physically suited for cold-weather and Arctic missions. He loves the cold. Be it trekking through a blizzard in Siberia or simply enjoying a drive through a human settlement at Christmastime (he's developed a fondness for the Most Wonderful Time of the Year), Iceberg is always ready, willing and able to get out there.

In fact, his teammates might say he's a little too eager. More than once, he's managed to get the entire Adventure Mini-Con Team assigned to some frigid mission, where he has a clear advantage his teammates don't share. Iceberg isn't above chicanery to get his way...even if his warm-weather-loving teammate Dune Runner ends up complaining the whole time.
Iceberg was one of the Mini-Cons aboard the Axalon when the Autobots departed for Cybertron to intercept the Decepticons. Iceberg was one of the many Mini-Cons stationed on Earth's moon for millennia. When the Decepticons invaded, the Adventure Team were part of the first wave of defense against them. Dreamwave Armada issue 10 However, due to Leader-1 and Dualor's fighting, the base's defenses were destroyed, and the entire installation had to be abandoned. The Mini-Cons escaped to Earth in a series of emergency rocket-pods. Dreamwave Armada issue 11

Later, after (temporarily) siding with the Autobots, the Adventure Team was dispatched to Alaska in order to retrieve the last Mini-Con escape pod from the Moonbase. However, when the team started digging, they were interrupted by Thrust, then the super-powered Cyclonus, who scattered the team. Fire & Ice Iceberg was swept away from a wave caused by Thrust's impact with the water, but was recovered by Sparkplug when Autobot reinforcements arrived. Dreamwave Armada issue 13

The whole of the Earth-based Mini-Con force gathered in Arizona's Black Mesa to take the space bridge back to Cybertron to fight off the approaching Unicron. Presumably he was among the Mini-Cons at the Loop in Cyber City, giving his power to the Mini-Con Matrix that dealt the critical blow to Unicron. The End
:Override is a Velocitron Autobot from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Override is the best racer on Velocitron, and as such is the leader of the planet. She seemingly embodies the culture itself; she is quick-witted, decisive, self-sure and always looking for a challenge. This has its upsides and downsides: while she's brave and determined with a never-give-up attitude, she can also be cocky to the point of arrogant, if not selfish and shortsighted. She entered the great race for leadership by lying about her gender and posing as a male, and has been defending her title and proving herself more than a match for anyone since.

After contact with the Autobots from Cybertron, particularly Hot Shot and Optimus Prime, she has matured into a more careful, more compassionate robot, less focused on being the best racer and more focused on being the best leader for her people... though she still maintains her never-lose attitude and love of high-speed challenges.

She has developed a close bond with the human girl Lori, referring to her as "Little Sister", which Lori reciprocates by calling Override "Big Sister".

During a regular race on Velocitron, Override was making everyone else eat her dust when suddenly, Megatron appeared right in front of her way. Megatron introduced himself to her and asked where he could find Override, the leader of the planet; as it turned out, he had found her. He asked where he could find the Cyber Planet Key, and Override challenged him to a race to get that info. He accepted, but Override took the victory in a photo finish. She told him she didn't really know about the key and just wanted to race; Megatron promised to tell her all about it at their next meeting. Space

Later, at Override's favorite track on top of a mountain, Megatron again questioned her about the Key. He tried to get the location out of her by offering great reward, but Override was not interested - after all, she already had the Planet Cup, the most valuable object on Velocitron. Megatron copped that the Cup must be the Key he was seeking, and so challenged Override to another race. Just before they began, Hot Shot, who had been spying on the two, jumped in to compete on behalf of the Autobots. Megatron warned that Hot Shot was part of an evil organisation, while Hot Shot maintained that it was the Decepticons who were the evil ones. Override wasn't interested in any of this, and told them to just race.

In the race, Megatron quickly fell into third place due to his car mode's inferior maneuverability. Hot Shot raced well and almost won, but was fired upon by Ransack and Crumplezone, who feared Override's wrath if she lost.

Sure enough, Override won, but immediately assaulted the evil duo for assuming she couldn't have won on her own, and they quickly fled. Override complimented Hot Shot on how fast he was and said they could talk about the key next time they raced. Rush

She raced against Hot Shot again the next day, and gave him an impressive head start. This proved not to be enough for Hot Shot, however, as Override quickly closed the gap. Hot Shot managed to tap the power of Velocitron and activated his Cyber Key, giving him a speed boost; however, he quickly crashed into a wall, taking him out of the race. Override cruised to an easy victory and drove off, looking forward to racing him again. Speed

She later encountered Ransack and Crumplezone bullying Dirt Boss. She tried to help him, only to be brushed off by the victim himself for some reason. Override went on her merry way, unaware that the Decepticons had just gained a new ally. Search

Some time later, while doing laps of her private race track, she was approached by Optimus Prime, who also asked for the Cyber Planet Key. Prime tried explaining the situation, and even asked if he could just borrow it, but to no avail. Override told him that she'd heard the same story from both Megatron and Hot Shot; since she had no reason to believe any of them, the trophy would go to whoever won the race.

[[Image:Cyb ep14 override victorious.jpg|right|thumb|220px|"Admittedly, the dance was a guy thing to do."]]
The next day saw the start of the Planet Cup, with Override as the favorite to win. She got off to a good start, closely followed by Dirt Boss. Hot Shot suffered from some early technical troubled, but soon managed to pull into third. Hero (episode) She maintained a strong lead throughout the first heat, finishing first without major interference from the cheaters in the back. Race In the second heat, Override was pushed into second just before the narrow straightaway. She caught up to the leader, Hot Shot, on the stairs portion of the course by transforming into robot mode and running down them. Hot Shot quickly did the same, while Dirt Boss came up quickly behind both of them, his off-road tires allowing him to traverse the stairs easily.

However, Ransack managed to literally leap into pole position by the clever use of springs, and rearranged the direction signs in the city portion to send the leaders on a wild goose chase. Override, Hot Shot, and Dirt Boss all fell for this ruse, but Hot Shot was alerted to the deception by Landmine. Hot Shot told Override about the situation, claiming he wanted to beat her honestly; Override was confused by this display, but still took his advice and returned to the correct track.

Soon enough, she once again pulled into first place, but then Ransack and Crumplezone caused the tunnel she was driving through to collapse, trapping her. Hot Shot saved her despite losing first place, again saying it was simply a matter of Autobot honor. This only added to Override's confusion, and she would have lost the race altogether if Brakedown hadn't pointed out everyone else was passing her. In the end, she finished in a respectable third position. Detour (episode)

Before the third heat, she fitted herself with off-road tires, while Ransack and Crumplezone watched. Savage (episode) When the race began in earnest, she avoided much of the initial drama, but eventually ended up being attacked by Dirt Boss, who was frustrated at the idea of someone else doing well in the off-road part of the race.

She was saved by the accidental aid of Ransack and Crumplezone, who tried to shoot at her but hit Dirt Boss instead. The three villains fought among themselves, allowing Override to claim first place. Sand

Override was then among the four remaining competitors, all of whom were chosen by the Cup to compete in the final. She and Hot Shot easily pulled ahead of Ransack ad Crumplezone, who soon dropped out of the race. The troublesome twosome then tried to steal the trophy, but Override and Hot Shot stopped by to blast them away. They then continued their race, with Hot Shot taking victory in a photo finish. Override was initially shocked, but congratulated him on a well-earned victory and strong competitive spirit.

Just as the force field around the Cup came down, Megatron and his cronies arrived to steal it. Optimus Prime, Vector Prime, and Leobreaker arrived form Jungle Planet to stop him, and Override took part in the battle. She and Hot Shot jointly tripped up Megatron, and Override herself grabbed the trophy.

With the Decepticons driven away, Override personally presented the trophy to Hot Shot. Impressed by the Autobots' teamwork and collective honor and heroism, Override asked to join them in their quest, and was readily accepted.

She accompanied them back to Earth, and as a native of Velocitron, was given the honor of inserting her planet's Key into the Omega Lock. As soon as she did, the Lock revealed the location of the Ancient Decepticons buried in the Arctic. Champion Override accompanied the Autobots on their investigation, but they didn't find anything. Ice When they got back, Coby repaired some of the damage she had suffered, and she promised to take Lori to Jungle Planet when fully healed. Honor

Lori would soon get her wish, as Optimus Prime returned from Jungle Planet and asked Override to accompany him to plead his case to Scourge. Override, true to her promise, brought along Lori to represent Earth, over the protestations of the other Auobots; Hot Shot was also present.

When the group arrived on Jungle Planet, they were soon attacked by a group of Decepticons led by Starscream. Override engaged Ransack and Crumplezone, but rather than fight, he challenged them to a race. The two villains quickly sped off to try and win, while Override let them go so she could concentrate on the battle.

Starscream and Thundercracker were quickly dispatched, and so Override and the others proceeded to Scourge's temple. Override and Lori both pleaded with Scourge to do the right thing, but the dragonbot was only interested in duelling Optimus Prime and Leobreaker. Prime and Leobreaker won by the use of their Savage Claw Mode and claimed the second Cyber Planet Key for themselves. Primal

However, Megatron would not be denied, and attacked Jungle Planet with all his gathered forces. To counter his assault, Vector Prime came up with the idea of distributing several boxes to teams of Autobots, one of which contained the real Key, and the rest were dummies. Crucially, nobody would know which box was which.

Override and Hot Shot paired off, and sped into the jungle with one of the boxes. They were pursued by, surprise surprise, Ransack and Crumplezone, who after considerable fighting and racing actually managed to grab the box. Fortunately, it turned out to be a dud - Snarl and Leobreaker had the real one. Trust (Cybertron)

With the battle won, the Autobots returned to their base on Earth along with new recui Snarl, and Leobreaker inserted Jungle Planet's Key into the Omega Lock. Once again, the location of the Ancient Decepticons was revealed, this time to much greater precision. While four of them went off to investigate, Override stayed back at the base as backup. It turned out she would be needed, as Optimus Prime, Landmine, and Leobreaker found themselves trapped in a cave with Starscream and many thousands of Ancient Decepticons. Override, along with Hot Shot and Red Alert, raced out to save them, Trap meeting up with Jetfire underground. They saved their comrades, and then returned to civilization to deal with Starscream.

They arrived at the scene of the battle, where Vector Prime and Snarl were desperately attempting to hold off the Ancient Decepticons. Worse, they also came under attack by USAF jets, who did not realize the difference between Autobot and Decepticon.

Just when things were looking their worst, Evac and Crosswise joined in the fray. They held off starscream's forces for a while, but were forced to retreat when Optimus Prime was injured. However, some good came out of this - Evac revealed that the third Cyber Planet Key was located on Earth. Unfortunately, it was by then in the hands of Starscream. Invasion

The Autobots retreated, Optimus Prime particularly concerned about human civillian casualties. Override offered to let them set up base on Velocitron, and Optimus Prime gratefully accepted. They moved out on the Space Bridge, but just before they could pass through the dimension gate, they were attacked by Starscream. Override and the others made a valiant stand, but Starscream eventually proved victorious, claiming the Omega Lock and the two Keys the Autobots had acquired for himself. Retreat

As if that wasn't bad enough, Megatron and his crew escaped from the prison in which they had been sealed by Starscream and began to rampage acoss Earth, together with Scourge. Override took part in the effort to drive them off, working with Crosswise to take down Ransack and Crumplezone. Revelation (episode) She and Evac then managed to distract Megatron long enough for the heavily injured Hot Shot, Red Alert, and Scattorshot to be evacuated to safety. The two planet leaders actually managed to beat up Megatron to such an extent that he tried to flee into the fire dimension, only for Optimus Prime to douse the portal before he could pass through. His back to the proverbial wall, Megatron lashed out and floored the two of them, only to be stopped by the timely arrival of the three injured parties, now rebuilt as the Cybertron Defense Team. Leaving the lads to try out their new guns, Override, Evac, and Optimus Prime drove through one of Vector Prime's portals to Starscream's island base. Critical

Evac brought her to the island by a form of water skiing, during which she shot Thunderblast out of the water. On the island, Override dealt with Lugnutz, at one point actually riding him before passing him to Snarl. She also helped beat up Crumplezone, Assault and took part in the first battle against the giant Starscream Starscream (episode)

Partway through that battle, word came from Cybertron that the Cybertron Defense Team was being overwhelmed by vast numbers of Scrapmetals, and so Override, Evac, and Leobreaker left the battle to go help them out, taking the Omega Lock with its three Cyber Planet Keys with them. Megatron and his forces pursued, and Starscream also sent Thunderblast after them. United (episode) During their flight, they ended up stymied by a badly warped section of the space bridge which they couldn't cross, and the Decepticons quickly caught up. However, the three managed to tap the power of the Lock and, powered up with burning justice, streaked across space to Cybertron, much to Override's surprise and amazement.

Upon arrival, the three found the Cybertron Defense Team desperately fighting a losing battle against the hordes of Scrapmetals. Just after they arrived, Megatron turned up with Scourge, Thundercracker, and Thunderblast, but before they could wipe out the Autobots, Optimus Prime's team came by to save the day.

Optimus Prime defeated Megatron in the fire dimension, and there was much rejoicing. The Autobots then plugged the Lock into the space in the Omega Temple, awakening Primus. As the planet itself began to transform, Override and Evac grabbed the kids and jumped off the planet. Cybertron (episode)

When Primus finished his transformation, all the Autobots worked to restore his mind, Override working with Leobreaker. Speaking through Jolt, Primus revealed the location of the last Key on Gigantion. However, before they could mount an expedition, the ghost of Megatron restored himself by the power of Unicron and began attacking. Balance Override and the Cybertron Defense Team followed the specter to see what it would get up to. Megatron restored and empowered the injured Crumplezone, who along with Ransack immediately began harrassing Override, leading to a tense chase across Cybertron's streets. Crumplezone was finally taken out by Hot Shot, and after a fight between Megatron/Nemesis Breaker and Optimus Prime/Leobreaker, all the Transformers raced full tilt for the Omega Temple. Darkness (episode) They arrived at about the same time and began duking it out. Memory The Autobots won,Escape (episode) and Override took part in the operation to destroy any remaining Scrapmetals. Family

Override then worked with Landmine as part of an operation to re-energise Primus with the Omega Lock and Optimus Prime's Matrix, but this plan failed when Starscream stopped by at exactly the wrong time and absorbed a chunk of this power, growing to planet size. Primus himself laid the smackdown on Starscream in a particularly awesome manner; Titans after this, OVerride contacted Clocker and Brakedown on Gigantion and had them (and Dirt Boss, apparently) dig up with Ogygia so that the Autobots could travel to Gigantion.

The Autobots loaded up the Ogygia and set off on their way, but as they travelled through the wormhole, they were confronted with an asteroid too big to steer around. All of the Autobots combined their Cyber Key Powers to blast a massive hole right through it, allowing them to continue on. Warp

On Gigantion, the Autobots met up with Metroplex and Quickmix. After reassuring them that they weren't from Planet X, an alarm was raised that Menasor and the Decepticons were attacking the lower levels. The Autobots and their new friends sped down to investigate, and Override and Evac jointly took on Menasor, eventually beating him. Giant

As their search continued, Override was the fourth to be incapacitated by the Cyber Planet Key-powered Megatron, now calling himself Galvatron. She tried desperately to drive away from him, but this time, he was faster than her. However, she was able to warn Optimus Prime, who did manage to defeat Galvatron. Fury

When she had been repaired, she accompanied the Cybertron Defense Team and Coby (piloting the Cobybot) in infiltrating the Atlantis, which Starscream and Sideways had piloted to Gigantion in the meantime. They rescued the imprisoned Bud, Jolt, and Reverb, and then escaped as Quickmix filled with cement the crevasse in which the Atlantis was parked.

After Bud, Jolt, and Reverb were reunited with the rest of the Autobots, the good guys split into four teams to find a way down to the innermost layers of the planet.

Override was assigned a team with Wing Saber and Lori. City They took and elevator to a lower level, where they were confronted by Thunderblast and Scourge. Cefore any combat could begin, however, Lori began berating Scourge, causing the massive dragon robot to flinch away from the tiny, squishy human until Thunderblast insulted Lori. After that, the robots started shooting; Lori and Wing Saber chased after Thunderblast while Override stayed to fight Scourge, the leaders of Velocitron and Jungle Planet finally coming to blows. This battle resulted in the ceiling getting a massive hole blown in it, and so the two combatants moved to a higher level. Scourge threw his axe at Override and missed, but almost hit Lori, who chose that precise moment to return from forcing Wing Saber to blow up Thunderblast. Terrified of Lori's wrath, Scourge fled, leaving Override and Lori to punch the wall in frustration. However, Lori's punch opened up a secret panel to an information center, where the two of them and Wing Saber were able to learn the story of Gigantion's war with Planet X, as well as the origin of Sideways and Soundwave. Ambush With this new information, they quickly rejoined Optimus Prime's team to tell them the story. Challenge

They all proceeded down to the lowest layer, where they found Bud giving a lesson in leadership to Scourge and the Mini-Cons. Scourge let Metroplex and Vector Prime beat him up, after which Override stepped forward to have her turn, but Optimus Prime went ahead of her and thrashed Scourge so badly that there was no point in fighting him any more. Scourge (episode) Continuing their journey, they came across the area where the Lemuria was said to have lain. OVerride and Wing Saber sped on ahead to investigate, and found it partially buried in a large lake. Shortly after Optimus Prime's team showed up, Galvatron blew through the ceiling, bringing the remaining Decepticons with him. Wing Saber went back to help Optimus Prime, while Override waited for reinforcements.

Reinforcements soon arrived in the form of Landmine's team. Override and Evac went to join Optimus Prime and aid him in battle, and got smashed by Galvatron. However, they soon recovered and chased Galvatron into the Lemuria, arriving just as Landmine claimed the final Cyber Planet Key and grew to gargantuan size. Landmine proceeded to lay a massive smackdown on both Starscream and Galvatron, with some small help by Override and Evac. Optimus (episode) When Galvatron came back and stole the Omega Lock and the four Keys, Override stood back and watched as he fought Starscream, not wanting to get blown up. Showdown (episode) However, Galvatron still made off with the Lock. The Autobots tried to re-open the portal to their own universe, but they were attacked by a flock of Laserbeak drones, which only dissipated when the machine opening the portal was destroyed. In the end, it required the sacrifice of Vector Prime to return them to their own universe. Guardian (episode)

Upon their return, Override returned to Velocitron to rally her forces against Galvatron's machinations. Just as Galvatron and his remaining Decepticons were preparing for their final assault on Cybertron, Override arrived with every Transformers on Velocitron (they raced there, naturally), at the exact same time as the forces of Jungle Planet, Earth, and Gigantion arrived. Primus then merged the Ogygia, Atlantis, Lemuria, and Hyperborea into the Ark, to rid the universe of evil once and for all. Homecoming (episode) However, Galvatron still possessed the Omega Lock, and used to to enlarge all of his loyal followers as well as himself to enormous size. Override led the forces of Velocitron against Crumplezone, exploiting the fact that the big lug's greater size had negatively impacted his meneuverability to cause him to crash into some asteroids.

Meanwhile, Galvatron fled into the deepest core of the Unicron Singularity. Optimus Prime combined with Wing Saber to pursue, but before he got too far, Override, Scourge, Evac, and Metroplex announced their intention to come with him, each to represent their own planet in the final battle. The humans and Mini-Cons also came. The five planet leaders all attacked Galvatron in a massive joint attack, after which the Decepticon commander tossed the Lock into the very center of the Singularity to prevent anyone getting ther hands on it.

The Keys separated from the Lock, and the planet leaders dived for them. Override grabbed the Velocitron Key, driving around an asteroid to get it. The other leaders were also successful, and they successfully combine the Keys with the Lock. This final act complete, they flew out of the Singularity and used the Lock and Keys to fully restore Primus, who blasted the Singularity closed. End

However, there were still a few loose ends to tie up. Jungle Planet had been shaken out of its normal location, and Override took part in the effort to restore it. She, along with most of the other characters, also stopped by on Earth's Moon to see Optimus Prime vanquish Galvatron for real this time. Unfinished

With evil defeated and the remaining Decepticons attempting to live peacefully, Override attended the first intergalactic peace conference to represent Velocitron. At this meeting, it was decided to follow in the footsteps of the Ancients and establish a galaxy-wide network of colony worlds, linked by space bridges.

Override wished to take part in this mission, but could not leave Velocitron without a leader. To that end, she called a Speedia 500, which was won by Hot Shot. She formally handed over leadership of the planet to the young bot, and some time later returned to Cybertron. She said a tearful farewell to the kids before boarding the Ogygia with a large crew of Transformers and departing for parts unknown. Beginning
Override led the crew of the Star Arrow, which was carrying an experimental Force Chip. The Star Arrow was attacked above Sandokan and crashed on the surface. The crew encountered Synthos, a scrap-monster powered by the Dark Heart. Override and the other Autobots fled from the monster and hid until Astrotrain attacked. When Astrotrain captured the Force Chip and headed towards Synthos, Override followed. She sought to prevent Synthos' Dark Heart from falling into Decpticon hands, but also desired to save the sentient scrap monster. The Autobots captured the Decepticon shuttle that carried Cannonball into battle and used it to capture him, Astrotrain, and the other Decepticons. After depositing them on the other side of the continent, the Autobots fled to Cybertron with the recaptured Force Chip. The Dark Heart of Sandokan
**Accessories: Engine-blaster, Speed Planet Cyber Planet Key

: Part of the Speed Planet theme, Override transforms into a sleek futuristic race car. Plugging a Cyber Planet Key into the rear portion of her car mode causes two non-firing blasters to flip out into attack position; this assembly becomes a hand-weapon for robot mode, and can also store on her back. Override's transformation is partially spring-loaded; pressing her black "front bumper" automatically flips her torso and arms into position, requiring only her lower body and backpack to be manually configured. She came with a gold-bordered Velocitron-style Cyber Planet Key.

: There are a few small deco changes between the Hasbro and Takara versions of the toy; Takara's has a gold face, black paint on the chest intakes and blue stripes on the thighs while Hasbro's has an orange face, an Autobot faction sigil on the left side of her chest, a less prominent stripe pattern on the inside shins and gives her Key the Key code "dy7p".

: This version of Override also was available in two different store-exclusive multi-packs. The first was a Wal-Mart set, including the Cybertron-series Tiny Tin version of the Race Mini-Con Team member Mirage. The second was a Target-exclusive "Drag Race" (...yeah, there's a joke there) set with Hot Shot.
Notes
*In Japan, Override is the male Nitro Convoy. It was originally intended that she would be male in the Hasbro version of Cybertron, but Cartoon Network, the channel with the airing rights to the show, felt it needed more female presence in the main cast, and Override was chosen to change genders.

* Although actress Lisa Ann Beley is the only one to receive credit as the English voice of Override in the credits of the show itself, the character's voice actually continuously changes back and forth between Beley and the uncredited Nicole Oliver. Beley's performance has a little bit of a harder edge to it, but overall, it takes a very experienced ear to pick out the differences, to the point that it took four years after the show had aired for anyone to realize!

* Override's robot-mode CGI model appears in the viewscreen of the Hasbro version of the Real Gear Robots toy Zoom Out 25X.

* Override's alternate mode of a futuristic race car, as well as its red and white color scheme, evokes the Mach 5 from the Speed Racer series.

* In Cybertron, Lori and Override refer to each other affectionately as "big sister"/"little sister". Being male, Galaxy Force Nitro Convoy's relationship with Lori is slightly different; he refers to Lori as what essentially translates to "little miss".

* In the Hungarian dub, Override is both male and female. Don't think about that too hard.
**The reasons for this questionable dubbing decision are unclear. Because of the gender-neutral pronouns, Override's gender wasn't all that important for quite a few episodes, until suddenly Bud referred to "him" as a "chick". A long hiatus followed without any new episodes airing. When the show finally picked up, much of the supporting cast received new voices, and from that point on, Override became female. Yet the dub didn't even attempt to explain this sudden change.
Wheeljack fires a shot into Hot Shot's chest at close range, to finalize his switch to the Decepticons. His business for the day concluded, Wheeljack vanishes, leaving an injured Hot Shot wondering how his friend could have made such a dramatic turn for the worse. Unable to cope with the trauma, he blacks out.

Hot Shot wakes up in the Autobots' infirmary, having been brought back to the Autobots' base by Side Swipe. Wondering how he could have been so betrayed, Hot Shot tries to recall the last time he saw Wheeljack.

On a fiery battlefield on Cybertron, Wheeljack is left held down while Hot Shot runs to get some help to help lift the debris. But after getting out of the blaze, Hot Shot's superior refuses to allow Hot Shot to return. Ignoring his superior's orders and threats, Hot Shot runs back into the fire, but passes out from the heat. Later, he wakes up alone.

Optimus reveals to Blurr that he knew about Hot Shot losing his friend, which is why Hot Shot was one of the troops chosen to come to Earth. Back in the infirmary, Side Swipe tries to convince Hot Shot to forgive himself, even if Wheeljack won't. Trying to collect his thoughts, Hot Shot drives out on his own, and runs into Thrust.

Wheeljack and Hot Shot meet up at an abandoned industrial station. Wheeljack relates the Transformer's obsession with wars to the human's own tendency to wage wars. The two battle, but Hot Shot shows an initial reluctance to fight back. When Wheeljack draws his weapon, Hot Shot offers to let Wheeljack execute him with no resistance. Side Swipe interferes, and a failed attempt to save Hot Shot sets the industrial complex on fire. Wheeljack laughs and takes advantage of the situation by abducting Side Swipe. As Wheeljack carries Side Swipe into the inferno, he mockingly suggests Hot Shot save his sidekick.

Hot Shot crawls through the burning factory looking for his friend. Thrust tries to play a part in Wheeljack's grudge match, but Wheeljack blasts the Decepticon jet away - revealing his own location to Hot Shot. Working his way through the flames and metal, Hot Shot locates and frees Side Swipe. The two barely manage to get away as the container Side Swipe was set on explodes. Meanwhile, Wheeljack encounters Megatron.

On the moon, Wheeljack pledges his loyalty to the Decepticon family.

At the Autobot base, Side Swipe declares himself "like family" to Hot Shot and chases Hot Shot for hugs. The other kids have a laugh at Alexis becoming too attached to the video game she learned to play from Billy and Fred.
* Hot Shot is briefly drawn with a Decepticon logo.
* After catching Side Swipe, Wheeljack is drawn with an obvious Autobot logo on his forearm for several shots.

Continuity errors
* How did Hot Shot know to meet Wheeljack where he did? Blame a bad translation.
* In the flashback, Megatron is shown in his current earth form. However, at the start of the series, before the characters' reformatting, Megatron looked different. Granted, it could be that he has changed back to a look he had before, but it seems unlikely.

Transformers references
* At one point when playing the game, Alexis hums the opening theme.

Trivia
*So the video game the kids are playing somehow involves recovered Mini-Cons as puppets, forcing them to battle each other? Are we sure these are the good guys?
*When Alexis realizes she's playing the game too much, you see a stylized Megatron on the screen.
Wheeljack isn't here for vengeance, he's here for vengeance.

A former Autobot, Wheeljack wears the scarred insignia as a constant reminder of what he left. He believes the supposedly-noble Autobots left him on the field of battle to die (and he's not entirely wrong about that, either), and particularly blames his former friend Hot Shot (that, now, he's got dead wrong). He's a fierce soldier with a lot of tricks up his sleeve.

He's accompanied by his Mini-Con partner Wind Sheer, who also used to be allied with the Autobots, but followed Wheeljack over to the dark side.
Wheeljack was once an Autobot in the same military unit as Hot Shot, looking up to his peer due to his own inexperience in battle, and they considered each other good friends. However, that friendship was broken one day when Wheeljack was trapped under rubble in the middle of an intense fire. Hot Shot could not lift the wreckage alone, and left to get some help, promising to return, but he never did. An arrogant Autobot officer forbade Hot Shot from returning, claiming the fire was too intense and they couldn't risk more lives.

Meanwhile, Wheeljack saw a figure approaching through the flames, thinking that at last, Hot Shot had returned. But it was Megatron who saved him that day, and in return, Wheeljack became a Decepticon.

A million years later, a black-coloured Wheeljack tracked down Hot Shot on Earth as his former friend was mentoring another young Autobot, Side Swipe. Managing to aggravate the younger Autobot's temper by laughing evilly and (ha) sideswiping him off the road, Wheeljack led him on a chase before finally sending him off a cliff. Confronting Hot Shot, he explained what had happened so long ago and why he was here. As Hot Shot begged forgiveness, Wheeljack shot him at point-blank range. Past

Later, as Hot Shot tried to deal with these revelations, Wheeljack challenged his friend to a showdown at an abandoned oil refinery. Once again, Hot Shot tried to explain what had really happened and asked for forgiveness, but the Decepticon was both unwilling to listen and had been too bitter for too long to simply let bygones be bygones. At that moment, the hapless Side Swipe attempted to save Hot Shot, only to be taken hostage by Wheeljack, who shot Hot Shot in the leg before daring him to save his young friend from the burning refinery.

In a touch of what he perceived to be poetic justice, Wheeljack left Side Swipe restrained to the main oil tank in the middle of the blazing inferno, as he believed Hot Shot would abandon his new friend just as he allegedly did to Wheeljack on Cybertron. As Hot Shot struggled through his injuries and limped through the refinery to save Side Swipe, Thrust, who had been watching the confrontation, attacked the helpless Autobot. An enraged Wheeljack shot him out of the sky for daring to interfere, but soon discovered that Megatron had been there the whole time.

On the Moon, a comically-injured Thrust protested Megatron's decision to allow Wheeljack to join the Decepticons, given his unstable temperament and violent disposition. Wheeljack swore loyalty to Megatron and the Decepticons, to the unease of Starscream. Past II

charstubfiction

On Cybertron, he seemed to have finally forgiven Hot Shot. When Hot Shot went for Decepticon help against Unicron, Wheeljack pleaded with Megatron to let him speak, and later went with Hot Shot. Dash (episode)
Armada comic
Long ago, Wheeljack was one of the most trusting and dedicated Autobots around. He put unending faith in the Autobot cause and especially his teammates, such as Hot Shot, with whom he had a friendly rivalry. But that all ended when a battlefield miscommunication resulted in Wheeljack being abandoned... and being found by the Decepticons. They quickly indoctrinated him, and before long he had slashed his Autobot symbol and joined the opposing team. **Accessories: 2 missiles

: Wheeljack transforms into a gullwing-doored supercar of vague origin. He is cast in dark charcoal plastic in vehicle mode, with white and yellow for robot parts. His most distinctive feature is the large, scarred Autobot symbol on the center of his chest, with a smaller Decepticon sigil beneath it. When his Mini-Con Wind Sheer is attached to his active rooftop Powerlinx port, both doors either side of the vehicle mode open up like wings, which also give access to the triggers for his door-mounted missile launchers. In robot mode, these missiles can be held in his hands as melee weapons. Unusually, his right wrist features a swivel joint while his left wrist is immobile. Also unusually, his proper transformation scheme requires Wind Sheer be attached, to open his doors/wings, making him a Master of sorts.

: The Takara release of Wheeljack, named Rampage, has some deco differences. His predominant vehicle mode plastic is now solid black, with the large yellow paint striping replaced with much smaller light blue stripes, his window is metallic light blue instead of metallic light purple, and his eyes are painted blue, matching his cartoon model.

: This mold was also used to make a proposed, but unreleased, Universe Battle in a Box Drench. The deco was later used for the 2008 exclusive Shattered Glass Sideswipe.

Notes
* According to Aaron Archer, the final head design for Armada Wheeljack is unintentional, at least to Hasbro. Unbeknownst to the American toy company, Takara had designed and sculpted the head to resemble Generation 1 Sideswipe, no doubt due to the similarity of the robot modes on both toys, and Hasbro's team were surprised when they received the prototype toy from Japan.

* Also according to Aaron Archer, during his ORSON stint, it seems some other things about the final sculpt were unknown to the Hasbro team.
**When a fan asked about Wheeljack having only one articulated wrist, Archer did not know why this was done:
**When asked about Wheeljack having knees whilst most other Armada figures seemed to lack them, the reply was "Wheeljack has knees?"

* At OTFCC 2003, Hasbro noted they had vague plans to release the Takara version of Wheeljack as a running change variant. This never materialized, however.

* Out of the Armada Decepticons who came to Earth in the animated continuity who were not shown to be killed off, Wheeljack is the only one who did not reappear in Energon. As a result, his eventual fate is unknown.

* The original plan for Wheeljack was for him to be Hot Shot's brother. Even after the episode aired, Aaron Archer, posting as ORSON, was unaware of this change.

* Wheeljack possessed a teleportation power in the cartoon which was not reflected in his MTMTE profile.
Side Swipe is a green Autobot. He's willing and eager, and also kinda dumb. He doesn't think before he leaps, gets really emotionally attached to commanders right away, and basically just messes things up. Optimus thinks that somewhere in there is the makings of a fine future soldier. Where?!
Despite his childish nature, Side Swipe is apparently a capable codebreaker and does manage to make himself useful on a few occasions by deciphering Decepticon data.
Side Swipe crossed paths with Wheeljack, immediately leapt to his new awesome commander's defense, and failed. He later tried this again, only this time Wheeljack captured him and chained him up somewhere in an abandoned oil refinery. The battle between Hot Shot and Wheeljack set the place ablaze, re-setting the scene where Wheeljack thought Hot Shot left him to die back on Cybertron centuries ago. Side Swipe blubbered a lot, thinking he was gonna die, but Hot Shot saved him. Back at the base, Side Swipe tried to give his commander a great big hug for saving his life. From then on, he called Hot Shot "Bro". Past Past II He was one of the Autobots deployed to fight Starscream and Tidal Wave when they attacked a rain forest. However, the attack turned out to be a distraction to allow the other Decepticons to attack the Autobot base. When Smokescreen was killed by the Requiem Blaster, Side Swipe was amongst those who saluted him as he died in Prime's arms. Sacrifice
Sideswipe was part of Jetfire's Autobot unit, stationed at the Autobase on Cybertron. He was present when Hot Shot contacted Jetfire to ask for assistance in locating the missing Optimus Prime. Worlds Collide, Part 1 of 4 Seeking to discover the cause of the multiple space bridge events opening at the Decepticon Command HQ, Jetfire led a team that included Side Swipe, Blurr, Rhinox, Overload and Dropshot into the heart of the enemy stronghold, only to find dead bodies and a ruined base. They soon discovered the perpetrator when a mysterious, sword-wielding creature attacked them. Sideswipe was almost cut down when he sought cover amongst the dead Decepticon bodies, but survived to participate in Jetfire's plan to blind the creature and destroy its outer shell. Worlds Collide, Part 3 of 4 As more enemies arrived, Jetfire ordered his troops to retreat while he stayed behind to activate the base's self-destruct sequence. Side Swipe refused at first, but eventually followed orders and made himself scarce. Worlds Collide, Part 4 of 4

Side Swipe was present when Unicron attacked Cybertron, and despite being in pain only from hearing the Chaos Bringer speak, he followed Optimus Prime's order to launch the planetary defenses. He survived the battle, and was seen among the crowds that cheered after Unicron's defeat. The End
* Side Swipe (also parsed Sideswipe) (Super-Con, 2003)

: Side Swipe transforms into a Nissan Skyline R32 Coupe. He is packaged with Mini-Con Nightbeat, who can store in a flip-out section of the back end of Side Swipe's vehicle mode. Pressing down on the sigil plate in vehicle mode swings his car hood halves forward in a spring-loaded attack (or "dragster mode"). These hood parts end up on his arms in robot mode, giving him a spring-loaded attack in that mode. Attaching Nightbeat (or any other Mini-Con mold) to the Powerlinx plug on his back activates a "punching" action gimmick in his right arm. Sideswipe's gun can attach the small bayonet via a 4mm post, and both store inside his doors via the same.

:Early releases of Side Swipe parsed his name as "Sideswipe" on the packaging and instructions; this was changed to Side Swipe on successive versions.

: A slightly retooled version of this mold was used to make Universe Oil Slick and Treadshot, and a more heavily retooled version was used for Cybertron Runamuck.
* Aaron Archer, posting as "Orson", once gave signs that "Nightbeat" was actually meant to be Side Swipe's name and somehow had gotten swapped to his Mini-Con. He mentioned trying to get this corrected, but it never surfaced.
* Even though the toy's name was originally spelled "Sideswipe" on the packaging and in the instructions, Hasbro had been parsing the name as "Side Swipe" on toys from previous lines after they had successfully reclaimed it from another company that had been holding the name in the "toys" field during the 1990s. A packaging variant for the toy released as part of the "Unicron Battles" refresh of the Armada line later saw the name changed to "Side Swipe".

* Pre-release copies of Side Swipe had a lightning deco on the sides of the vehicle mode which was not included on the final version sold in stores.
