The United States and Japan aren't the only countries that have Transformers commercials. Just about every country that received the original The Transformers toyline had their own television advertising campaign for it. Approaches to the commercials differed quite a bit, with most countries simply receiving dubbed US spots, some getting their own unique spots (early UK, Spain) or, in the case of Italy, a combination of both. The reason for these different approaches (besides needing to adjust for different cultures) is that during the early years of the Transformers brand, Hasbro did not yet have local offices to handle the marketing and distribution of its toys outside of the US and Canada. As a result, marketing and distribution was licensed out to companies with ties to various local markets. Commercials for Generation 1 after 1990 were largely the same across Europe, originally produced for Milton Bradley in English and then dubbed for the other markets. By the time Generation 2 was being released in the US, Hasbro had started to open foreign offices. As a result, foreign advertising campaigns began to shift away from unique commercials and towards a more economical approach of simply dubbing the spots created for the US. Since 2001, practically all foreign Transformers advertising in Hasbro markets uses dubbed spots.

: Animation: Soundwave battles Sludge, Slag and Grimlock. Trimmed down footage from the US Dinobots commercial.
: Toy segment: Two boys in blue sweaters play with the Dinobots on the same red-and-white grid seen in the previous Autobot-centric ads. Surrounding them are grey mountains, behind them an orange sun looms in a red sky. The narrator tells us the Autobots have created Slag, Sludge, Snarl and Grimlock, "a brave prehistoric breed". A third boy joins the scene, armed with Dirge and Ramjet, who swoop in for attack. The Dinobots transform to robot mode. Ramjet floats around in front of them before deciding to retreat.
The latter is an excerpt from the animated footage used in the US Battlechargers commercial.
: Toy segment: Ultra Magnus rolls through a rocky diorama and transforms; Galvatron rolls onto a plateau, transforms and shows off his eye flashing ability.
: Notes: Galvatron's electronic noises are played constantly during his section of the ad. : Animation: Metroplex drives and shoots. Re-used from the American commercial.
: Toy segment: Ominous music plays while Cyclonus and Scourge fly towards Metroplex and Wheelie, Scamper and Blades demonstrate Metroplex's base mode features. Metroplex then triumphantly transforms into robot mode only to have the ominous question asked: But can Metroplex beat up the new Decepticons?
: Notes: The same red sweater wearing kid's hand from the previous commercial is shown moving the toys.
: Animation: Hot Rod and Kup transform to attack Starscream and Skywarp. Blurr runs around in circles.
: Toy segment: We see Kup, Blurr and Hot Rod in vehicle form, backed up by some of the still-available Autobot cars from the previous two years. We're told by the narrator that these three new warriors have been built by the Autobots on Cybertron, even though the commercial takes place in the usual sandy, mountainous environment. Wireframe breakdowns of the three new Autobots in vehicle form appear, which transition back to filmed footage of the toys in action. Kup is said to be experienced in battle, which seems to contradict the previous statement about him just being built right off the bat. Blurr jumps a cliff. Hot Rod rams two Decepticons off another cliffside, before transforming and joining his two comrades to pose moodily.
: Notes: Hot Rod is sporting his early pink paintjob, rather than his normal crimson look. The wireframe-to-toy effects are reminiscent of those seen in Takara's Diaclone Car Robots Porsche 935 Turbo (Jazz) commercial.
: Animation: Various clips from Transformers: The Movie are shown. One-upping the US "Does Prime die?" commercial, the announcer tell us that this is our chance to "see Optimus Prime and Megatron in their final battle". We are also promised "super new Autobot heroes" (Rodimus is shown), and "evil new Decepticons" (Galvatron & Unicron are showcased).
: Animation: The newly amended, paler Transformers logo zooms in and smashes to reveal the words "Autobot Heroes". In the background, a pale yellow planet is seen.
: Toy segment: Bruticus looms over Goldbug, but Wreck-Gar (billed as "Junkion Leader" on-screen) and Rodimus Prime ("Autobot Protector") race to the rescue. Transforming to robot mode and still accompanied by Goldbug, they stare down the Combaticon combiner.
: Notes: 1987's commercials resemble those of 1986, but for this year only no longer borrow any animated footage from their US counterparts.
: Kidmation: A young boy has his eyes closed. He's suddenly startled before the camera cuts to a close-up of his eye, within which the Transformers logo can be seen.
: Toy segment: Fizzle rolls along in car form, sparking wildly. Sparkstalker does the same in monster mode, and is then seen in robot form. All six toys are then seen in their altmodes for the final shot.
: Notes: All the elements that had been constant in the UK commercials prior to this point - the use of the Transformers theme music, the narrator, the elaborate sets and so on - have now been abandoned. The earlier commercials are credited to the agencies Reeve Robertshaw Needham / Griffin Bacal, whereas those from 1988 are produced by Griffin Bacal only. Commercials from the first half of 1988 also have a completely different "Power to Surprise" jingle to their US counterparts.
* Classic Transformers (German audio)
: Animation: Re-used footage, from the US 1985 Autobot Cars commercial, of Smokescreen, Tracks, Inferno, Hoist, Red Alert and Grapple rolling into battle and transforming.
: Toy segment: On a rocky set reminiscent of the 1986/87 commercials, Jazz is transformed step by step. He's then seen next to Sunstreaker and both instantly convert from car to robot. Ironhide and Prowl do the same. Finally, Inferno does a stop-motion transformation from fire truck to robot, as Jazz and Sunstreaker pull up in their car forms.
: Notes: The use of the ill-fitting 1985 Autobot Cars animation may possibly be unique to the German version of the ad.
: Animation: Same as the US version of Megatron's commercial, but edited - the shot of Prime's head as Megatron "locks on" is removed.
: Toy segment: Cut-down footage of Megatron beating up Optimus and showcasing all his gimmicks from the US ad. Notably the whole "LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF DOOM" bit is removed, as are all the on-screen comic-book style sound effects. The Generation 2 cartoon theme music and Victor Caroli have both been replaced. Finally, the still shot of the toys at the end displays both Optimus and Megatron, rather than just the latter.
France
France got dubs of the US commercials for their Generation 1 advertising. While most were straight dubs, some spots re-ordered the US footage while others combined footage from multiple US commercials. Bizarrely, the new audio tracks for the Pretender, Micromaster, Action Master, and Classics commercials were largely composed of a bright, upbeat tune better suited to an 80's chewing gum commercial, if not for the Transformers-specific lyrics. Generation 2 commercials kept the "late G1 logo/robotic voice" intro from the 1992 and 1993 commercials.
A freckle-faced boy cheers as Drag Strip and Dead End speed along in car form. More stop-motion as Motormaster goes from truck to robot. Dead End and Breakdown make some attempt to follow his lead, followed by Wildrider and Drag Strip. Goldbug is shown on his backing card, but quickly drives off his packaging. He drives along a tiled surface alongside Wide Load and Chase. A blonde boy pulls back on Chase, prompting him to perform some stop-motion stunt driving. Goldbug does the same, but also transforms to robot mode, followed by the other Throttlebots. : Animation: The changing block-by-block electrified logo used in US commercials circa 1989.
: Notes: Skydive and Fireflight are sporting upside-down Autobot symbols. Dead End and Breakdown are badly mistransformed. : Animation: The early 90s CGI "circuitboard" logo seen in many European commercials from 1992 and 1993. Slowed-down footage of Powermaster Optimus Prime firing from that toy's commercial, and the Constructicons merging to form Devastator. Twice.
: Toy segment: Both combiners are shown in their combined forms, as well as their individual robot and vehicle modes. Devastator & Defensor then flail their arms at each other. Throughout the commercial a blonde boy is extolling the virtues of Devastator, while a brown-haired boy does the same for Defensor.
: Notes: A branding consultant's nightmare, this ad starts with the 1992-93 European Transformers logo, then immediately shows the 1989-1991 logo, before finally showing the toys in the original mid-80s style packaging. Hasbro Greece clearly had very little in the way of animated footage to work with, as Optimus Prime is playing substitute for Defensor.
* Classics
: Toy segment: The ad starts out with re-used footage from the GiG Decepticon clone commercial consisting of pans of computer control panels in a laboratory. It then switches to show a vehicle mode line-up of Prowl(?), Sideswipe, Mirage, Sunstreaker, Bluestreak, Red Tracks, and then Jazz and Smokescreen roll into view. Wheeljack, Sideswipe, Smokescreen and Tracks then rev up their engines for a race that Wheeljack seems to win, much to the delight of a young boy. Wheeljack transforms to robot mode to celebrate only to have the kid put him back in car mode. Thanks a lot squirt. Optimus Prime, in truck mode, drops out of the sky onto a road passing by a desert plateau and transforms. We then cut to PowerMaster Optimus Prime rolling through a different desert area before magically appearing in his box.
: Notes: This ad uses a real mishmash of footage and seems to be advertising the brand as a whole rather than any specific figure.

: Animation: A brief glimpse of Ramjet transforming to robot mode, as used in the title sequence of the Generation 2 cartoon. The circuit board CGI logo then appears.
: Toy segment: The Trakkons are shown in their alt modes. A boy uses Fearswoop's viewfinder gimmick to locate and fire upon Ironfist. The Lightformers race into action in vehicle form, firing their weapons. Clench converts to robot form and fires his cannon. The CGI logo appears again before the different figures are shown in all possible configurations, and with their respective gimmicks. Finally, just in case you didn't catch it, the Transformers logo appears for a third time.
: Notes: Somewhat similar to the French commercial for these toys, but with added G2 animation, toy gimmickry on display, a different kid playing with the figures and the standard Euro G1.5-style commercial music.
As he's hopping the last barrel we see him wearing a version of Meantime that the boy got with his sandals. He throws the toy across the yard only to have it magically land in robot mode and on its feet. The boy runs up onto a platform. Upon checking his watch he realizes it's time to go and grabs his backpack.
: Notes: Excerpts of Optimus Prime from the 2007 movie are interspersed. The Meantime toy that comes with the shoes is actually a knock-off, the most obvious sign being the fact that it's actually a functional watch unlike the real deal.
Soundwave plays back Ravage's findings, which include the specifications of the shoes. Apparently having decided he needed a new pair of kicks, Megatron leads an assault on the Autobot convoy. A live-action boy and girl, wearing the dress shoes, step out of Bumblebee. The children DEFEAT the Decepticons by repelling blasts from Megatron's fusion cannon using THE SOLES OF THEIR SHOES! That's right. Megatron, mighty warrior and leader of the Decepticons, is felled by FOOTWEAR. After showing Megatron that they have more sole, the Autobots arrive at their destination and start handing out shoes to the local school children. And there was much rejoicing.
: A boy in a green and white shirt with pale green face paint yells out the name of Optimus Primal while posing like a gorilla. This leads to a stop motion transformation of the toy. A second boy in a yellow and black striped shirt (and possibly sporting some yellow face paint) looks off into the distance and yells out the name of Cheetor. This leads to the transformation of Cheetor's toy. A third kid, sporting a red shirt with a yellow collar and long sleeves and face paint on his cheeks resembling Megatron's wings, yells Megatron's name. You can probably guess what that leads to. The three kids then turn around to see their dad holding three Jollibee kids meals. The kids sit down and enjoy their meals.
: A mother and father return home from Jollibee to find their son and daughter disguised as a stereo system and a stand with a portrait and lamp on top of it, respectively. They pop up in their "robot modes" and run towards their parents. This is followed by stop motion transformations of the toys. : Three kids play with their Transformers Animated Happy Meal toys while a fourth kid does a voiceover explaining the toys: "Is it a robot? Is it a car? Toy cars that turn into robots. Now in every McDonald's Happy Meal get amazing Transformers and Littlest Pet Shop Toys!"
: Notes: Apparently, India has flying cars now and hasn't told the rest of the world. Or so it would seem, since the voice over states that the Transformers toys turn into cars despite the fact that the Megatron toy is shown and clearly is not a car. The song, Victor Caroli's narration, and even Ultra Magnus and Galvatron's lines have been rerecorded by other actors for this ad.
