:Blaster is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Blaster loves all Earth music, especially good, hard, LOUD rock 'n' roll. A powerful fighter who tends to make his presence known, you can find him at the forefront of any situation in which he's involved.

Sometimes he gets upgraded into Twincast (ツインキャスト Tsuinkyasuto). Or he's Broadblast (ブロードブラスト Burōdoburasuto) for some reason.
Blaster was a fun-loving, hip and happening robot. Loud and energetic, he was happy to share his choice of rockin' tunes with anyone, whether they really wanted to hear them or not.

Blaster appeared out of nowhere one day during Wheeljack's demonstration of the modifications he'd made to the Dinobots to improve their sense of balance and coordination, and to that end, Blaster was requested to play something "nice". For some reason, Blaster had trouble tuning into a station until Grimlock (obviously tired of this padding) blasted fire at Blaster's controls, allowing the Autobot boom box to tune into the local rock 'n' roll/big band music fusion station. Ironhide, Trailbreaker and Sideswipe showed their appreciation for the fine selection of elevator music by jerkily dancing around and claiming their audio sensors were being fried. Blaster continued to enthrall Grimlock until Slag and Sludge bumped into their leader and totally freaked him out. Dinobot Island, Part 1

At a not-so-secret EJK testing facility for the new Ultraplane, Blaster was sitting in the back of Ironhide's vehicle mode and didn't seem to notice the fact that Soundwave was sitting right next to him—at least until the Decepticon tape deck launched Ravage, whom Blaster quickly transformed to grab. The cat turned to attack the Autobot while his master escaped to report to Megatron. Blaster continued to tussle until Ironhide transformed into robot mode and threw them both out of his caboose. After being initially distracted by the Ultraplane's destruction, the Autobots returned to EJK's lab to confront the Decepticons. Blaster greatly appreciated Jazz's taste in fusion rock/big band music to confound the hapless villains. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1

Blaster's taste in music often got him into trouble. He attended a concert by a popular '80s rock/big band fusion hair metal band with Spike and Carly. Concerned that the other Autobots weren't enjoying the concert with them, Blaster flooded the Autobot communications channels with the music, though only Cosmos and Jazz seemed to appreciate it. Unfortunately, his taste in music also disrupted an emergency communique from the Helix Observatory, until the other Autobots told him to shut up. After the Voltronic Galaxer was stolen, Blaster was teamed up with Cosmos to search for signs of the Decepticons, but both were rather quickly captured and brought to the Decepticon moonbase. Blaster was welded into place to be used as a trans-scrambler for Megatron's scheme to use the Voltronic Galaxer to disrupt communications on Earth and then demand all the energy on the planet in exchange for normality. While Megatron ranted about his demands, Blaster secretly played his music, which served both to rally the Autobots and inform them of Megatron's location — until Megatron kicked him in the face. After foiling the Decepticon plans, Blaster was assigned to the abandoned moonbase with Cosmos, but quickly got into trouble with Prime again for his music. Blaster Blues

Later, Blaster and Tracks helped the New York police crack a car theft ring by posing as an attractive target for punks to steal. After Blaster teamed up with car thief Raoul, they learned that Megatron was behind the criminal operation, stealing cars to rebuild them into transforming drones. Blaster defended the Washington Bridge from the Decepticon drones alongside the other Autobots, but they were nearly overwhelmed by sheer numbers. After Ratchet realized the cars were remote-controlled, Blaster jammed the frequency, allowing the Autobots to attack and defeat the Decepticons. Make Tracks

Blaster proved useful again, even pivotal, in allowing the Autobots to save Cosmos and some robotic insecticide from the Morphobots. It turns out even plants hate Blaster's music. Quest for Survival Soon afterward, the Autobots were attacked by the malevolent Kremzeek, an energy life form created by Megatron. Blaster and a small number of other Autobots were the only ones to stay functional long enough to be sprayed with an insulating foam that protected them from the creature's attacks. The Autobot team chased it to Japan, where it wreaked havoc with the massive electronics industry there. The creature spawned copies of itself, one of which managed to slip inside Blaster, and after the other Kremzeeks were seemingly destroyed, it jumped out of his chest and the pursuit began again. Kremzeek!

Blaster was watching "As the Kitchen Sinks" with his Auto-buddies when Prime informed them that Tracks and Bumblebee were late returning from their supply run. Suspecting foul play, the Autobots took off to search for their missing comrades. While on the search, Blaster was forcibly transformed by a Creamy Cream billboard (They can do that?), then carted away by the big game hunter Lord Chumley and his butler Dinsmoore as bait to lure Optimus Prime into a hunt. Chumley apparently couldn't think of a suitably dastardly device in which to store Blaster, though, as he was totally absent from Chumley's prisoner showcase later on. Prime Target (episode)

Tracks and Blaster were reunited with Raoul when they saved their human friend and his Bop Crew from a bunch of hoodlums in the employ of the Dancitron nightclub. When a punk tried to ensnare him in a chain, Blaster simply remarked that the humans were seriously out of their league, then broke the chain by moving his arm slightly. The Autobots forced their way into the nightclub, where Blaster appreciated the atmosphere and the impressive sound system. He then went off to dance with some oddly well-dressed ladies who sounded like Penny Marshall. Soon after leaving the club, Tracks and Blaster had to save Raoul again when a Decepticon-controlled train driver sent the train Raoul was in hurtling out of control. Conferring with Teletraan I, Blaster discovered that Dancitron controlled its patrons by using hypnotic signals, and he suggested countering them with his own sonic powers. Entering the club, Blaster finally faced his Decepticon counterpart Soundwave in battle. At first, the combatants appeared to be evenly matched, but Soundwave drove Blaster back with his sonic assaults. Improvising, Blaster jury-rigged Dancitron's own sound system into his speakers. He turned the combined sonic force against Soundwave, forcing him into retreat and wrecking the nightclub in the process. Auto-Bop

When Megatron journeyed to Cybertron to bring life to his new Stunticons, Optimus Prime took Blaster and a small group aboard Omega Supreme to stop him. Megatron sent a cadre of Centurion droids after the Autobots, delaying them long enough for him to access Vector Sigma and bring his Stunticons to life. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1 As a counter-measure, Blaster and the other Autobots worked to retrofit five Cybertronian shuttles as Earth vehicles, and then used Vector Sigma in turn to bring life to these Aerialbots. Once they returned to Earth, the Autobots and Aerialbots confronted the newly-minted Stunticons. Impressively, Blaster used his sound system to generate a miniature earthquake using sonic vibrations, but Wildrider just sailed over the cracks and smashed into Blaster's face. On a second encounter with the Stunticons, Blaster converted into tapedeck mode and used his sonics to try blasting down a tree to make Breakdown crash. Instead, Breakdown used it as a ramp and Wildrider casually drove by and ran Blaster over. Ouch. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

Blaster and Cosmos were sent on an inter-galactic shopping trip to pick up more Ingredient X for Perceptor's protective chemical spray, Corrostop. Unfortunately there was no more Ingredient X. Anywhere. In the entire universe. Bummer. Cosmic Rust (episode) When the Stunticons returned performing a series of heists for Megatron, Blaster joined Prime and Bumblebee in hunting down Motormaster. He didn't do much, but he did get to witness the most awesome game of chicken ever, when Prime totalled Motormaster and proved himself the real "King of the Road". Masquerade

In the year 2005, Blaster was assigned to the communications hub at Autobot City on Earth. When the fortress was attacked by the Decepticons, Blaster attempted to send out a distress signal to Optimus Prime's forces on Moonbase One. His efforts were disrupted by Soundwave, who had sent out his cassette forces to destroy the hub's transmitter, but Blaster countered with his own cassette army, and his efforts were soon revealed to have succeeded when Optimus Prime arrived with reinforcement to rout the Decepticons. After the Decepticons retreated, Blaster was helping to rebuild the city when he received a faint signal from Jazz and Cliffjumper on Moonbase One, which was being munched by a ginormous, weird-looking planet. Several of the Autobots soon departed to investigate this new threat, but Blaster remained behind on Earth. The Transformers: The Movie

Perhaps it was this dedication to Earth that saw Blaster appointed city commander once Autobot City was successfully rebuilt later in 2005. Believing the Decepticons responsible for an attack on the Galactic Olympics which saw Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike kidnapped, Blaster and Outback were sent to the North African nation of Carbombya on the suspicion that the militant leader Abdul Fakkadi was harbouring Decepticon fugitives that they could interrogate for information. Despite Fakkadi's assurances that there were no Decepticons on his soil, Outback managed to psyche out Dirge and Ramjet, whose escape was also quickly put down by the Australian-accented Autobot. Blaster then threatened the two coneheads to spill the beans, for Outback was trigger-happy. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1

While Rodimus Prime followed up on the info they obtained, Blaster returned to Autobot City to keep tabs on the impending delivery of the city's new transforming cog, replacing the original that was destroyed in the great battle. Unfortunately, Blurr and Wheelie's delivery shuttle was destroyed by Galvatron, forcing Blaster to call upon Commander Marissa Faireborn of the Earth Defense Command for help. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3 Faireborn and the Autobot delivery team were stranded when Io's native lipoles destroyed the EDC ship, so the long-suffering Blaster sent rescue in the form of the magnificent Sky Lynx, whom Blaster remarked was difficult to describe. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4 After Sky Lynx effortlessly saved their friends and delivered the cog to Earth, Pipes installed the cog, allowing the giant Autobot Metroplex, who formed part of the city, to transform to robot mode. Once the Autobot city defeated the Decepticon giant Trypticon, Blaster declared that Metroplex was his kind of town. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

In 2006, Blaster was briefly seen aboard the Autobot flagship when Optimus Prime returned from the dead to rally the troops against the Quintessons. He fled the ship with the rest of the crew before Prime's suicidal assault on the Quintessons' central planet. Dark Awakening
After Perceptor uncovered a source of chronal energy emanating from an asteroid belt, Blaster accompanied him on a survey mission, along with his cassettes Rewind and Ramhorn. Their simple survey soon turned into a battle, though, when a school of Sharkticons assaulted the Autobots as they approached the belt. Blaster radioed for reinforcements during the battle but, alongside Blurr and Wreck-Gar, they soon made short work of their opponents. At the asteroid belt, they found a Quintesson scientist working with an actual Time Window, allowing passage backwards through time. Several Quintesson ships interrupted their observations, and Blaster and the other Autobots were accidentally chased through the time window itself, finding themselves 11 million years in Cybertron's past. The Quintesson warships were gone, but they just traded one threat for another and soon came under assault by Guardian Robots. Blaster and his comrades were saved by the intervention of Beta, second-in-command of the slave rebellion against the Quintessons. With the rebels' leader A3 missing, Blaster and the Autobots stepped into his place to lead the rebellion against the Guardians and their Quintesson masters. The Autobots did their best, but the sheer number of Guardian Robots was on the verge of overwhelming them when A3 returned through the time window. He turned his Coda Remote device against the Guardians and preserved the natural flow of history, as Blaster and the future Autobots took the window back to the present. Forever Is a Long Time Coming

When Daniel Witwicky and Wheelie were taken hostage by the Decepticons, Blaster fielded the ransom call for Spike and Ultra Magnus. His skill as a communication officer seemed to fail him, as he lost Cyclonus's signal at a critical point in the monologing. Maybe he was just tired of listening to The Villain Speech, trademarked. Surprise Party Daniel was saved, but it wasn't long before he got into more trouble, disappearing with Grimlock during a reception on Cybertron. Ultra Magnus summoned Blaster for assistance, and Blaster in turn ejected Steeljaw so that his tracking abilities could locate the missing boy. Their search led to a hidden chamber beneath Cybertron's surface, abandoned since the time of the Quintessons. Blaster summoned Rewind next to help translate and interpret the ancient Quintessonese on the walls, and the rescue party learned the chamber was a method of banishing criminals to other dimensions. After Rewind worked out that Daniel had travelled to Menonia, Blaster and the others reactivated the portal to chase after them. They got involved in a local skirmish against Mara-Al-Utha, the banished Quintesson who had usurped power from the benevolent Golden One. In order to defeat the Quintesson, Blaster lent his sound system to the Golden One, amplifying his voice as he invoked the proper counter-spells. It had a nice beat, and you could smash Quintessons with it: even Grimlock had to approve. Madman's Paradise

Running the day-to-day operations of Metroplex and Autobot City on Earth, Blaster was subjected to a security inspection by Kup. He passed with flying colors and nearly succeeded in convincing Kup how seriously they took the job... until he happened to lean against a control panel and set off some 20 year old tunes on the sound speakers. Things turned serious immediately thereafter, though, as Metroplex was invaded by Scourge and the ghost of Starscream. It only got worse when they stole Metroplex's eyes and set off a bomb in his brain. The report Kup filed for the inspection must have interesting reading material. Poor Blaster. Ghost in the Machine

While helping Ultra Magnus and the other Autobots fight the Decepticons on a renegade comet, Blaster was blasted out of space by a musical harmony. It was generated from the planet Eurythma below as a sonic weapon to destroy the comet before it struck their world. Galvatron naturally wanted such a powerful weapon for himself, and fled the battle with Soundwave to steal the secret of the harmony. Ultra Magnus recruited Blaster and Broadside to make their own effort to secure the harmony, or at least keep it out of Galvatron's hands. Blaster was enamored with Eurythma, and could somehow interpret that the nearby city and the entire civilization were based on musical harmonies. Luckily, he also somehow knew exactly where the "band leader" was, and directed Broadside to take them to Basso Profundo's palace. Blaster was the only one who could understand the overly synthesized and harmonic speaking voices of the Eurythmians. Maybe Ultra Magnus was tone deaf. The hunt for the harmony turned into a bizarre scavenger hunt, as Blaster and Soundwave attempted to recover the three thirds of the harmony produced by Basso Profundo, Zebop Skandana and Allegra. The Decepticons assembled the harmony first, and Soundwave turned its united power against the Autobots. Blaster managed to stop Soundwave by punching him in the crotch. No seriously — that's where his "Erase" button is. Really. Carnage in C-Minor
Blaster joined Kup, Ultra Magnus and Rodimus Prime aboard Omega Supreme to check out some strange reports from the planet of Junk. These "strange reports" turned out to be a full-fledged war between half the galaxy raging over the Junkions' heads. On the surface, Blaster's receivers located a hypnotic signal being broadcast somehow from the Junkions' TV antenna. Using Omega Supreme to get the proper altitude, Blaster began broadcasting his own counter-frequency to break the spell. The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)
Blaster was returning from a space mission aboard Sky Lynx with Outback, Steeljaw and Ramhorn when Perceptor radioed in that a peculiar Quintession transmission was being picked up in their area. On an uninhabited planet, they found a Quintesson journal which detailed centuries of manipulating the planets Xetaxxis and Lanarq into ever-escalating warfare. Despite Quintesson and Decepticon interference, Blaster and his comrades managed to bring the journal to the attention of the warring aliens, ending their conflicts... at least for the moment. The Quintesson Journal
Blaster was manning Autobot City when Victor Drath's men drove the empty shells of Ultra Magnus, Arcee, Springer and Rodimus Prime towards the city for a Trojan horse ploy. When the REAL Magnus and Springer hijacked the latter's helicopter mode and started taking potshots at the city, however, Blaster quickly caught on and transformed the city into battle station mode, cutting off their entry. It's not Springer, it's a ringer! How's that for a zinger? Only Human

When Sky Lynx and Cosmos crashed on Power Platform Alpha, Blaster raced out to help with his fellow Autobots. Upon trying to radio for assistance, however, Blaster found himself unable to properly transmit any signals. The Autobots eventually uncovered anti-electron sabotage in the new power generator, and cleaned out the disruptive influence. Grimlock's New Brain Later, Blaster began self-ejecting when the Oracle's transmission convinced Ramhorn and Steeljaw to force their way out of Blaster's chest to answer the call of the Primitives. Call of the Primitives

Although he wasn't on the initial casualty list, Blaster was revived alongside the Autobots who fell before the crazed Superion, during the outbreak of the Hate Plague. When Ravage, Laserbeak and Ratbat came sniffing around, Blaster deployed Steeljaw and Ramhorn to take care of the former two, while he himself dealt with Ratbat. Unfortunately, the tiny Decepticon was able to avoid his blasts and returned fire, which forced Blaster to dodge away from the cavern opening, allowing Ratbat to swiftly fly inside.
In the 1990s, Blaster was among the assembled forces of the Autobots who travelled into Earth orbit to save the human space station known as the Trigger from the Decepticons. When Starscream seized control of the station, he used its warp gate to bombard the Autobots with asteroids he teleported from across space, which Blaster helped blast to bits so they wouldn't rain down on Earth. The battle was ended when Megatron and Optimus Prime combined their powers to stop the treacherous Starscream, resulting in an explosion so powerful that Blaster and all the other Autobots were hurled into Earth's atmosphere, where they were badly damaged by re-entry and disappeared for some time. The Battle of the Star Gate
In the early 21st century, Blaster's love of human culture made him a logical choice for participation the Interplanetary Personnel Exchange Program, an initiative designed to to promote goodwill and cooperation between humans and Transformers that saw one member of each race partnered with another. Blaster was paired up with TV Announcer Lumina Hoshi, and was reconfigured with a new Toyota Scion alternate mode, prompting him to take on the new name "Broadblast".

While covering an auto show where Broadblast was operating undercover, Lumina Hoshi was unfortunately present when a large section of lighting broke free from the ceiling and came hurtling down upon a crowd of people. Luckily, Broadblast was able to transform in time and catch the lights before they could squash everyone. Broadblast was then left to nervously explain his presence to the onlookers as Lumina apologized for the technical difficulties to her viewers. The World's First Disaster Relief Car!?
While travelling through time and space to gather up information to replace data lost when Teletraan I was damaged, the human computer Teletraan 15 was damaged by Galvatron. While recuperating from her injuries (presumably back in her home year of 2005), she was watched over by Blaster in his boombox mode, who grew determined to cheer up the perpetually downcast girl. Telling her that "the song in her heart sounded lonely" and that she deserved better, Blaster transformed to robot mode to listen to her problems, and advised her to not to worry, and to focus on doing what she loved best. Likening human begins to individual notes who become music when they work together, Blaster advocated listening to music when depressed, and gave Teletraan 15 a cassette. The perked-up 15 thanked him and he departed... but she soon discovered that, despite his best intentions, the tape was fully of really depressing music. Blaster Volume It also turned out to be Steeljaw! Steeljaw Volume
Some time before the Transformers' war left Cybertron, Blaster briefly engaged the Decepticons with his comrades.

In 2011, Blaster and his Mini-Cassettes were on Earth under Ultra Magnus's command when the Decepticons attacked Cybertron. While making their way to the space bridge to join their comrades, Blaster and Ultra Magnus were attacked by the new Decepticon ninja consultant, Sixshot and were unable to help in the battle on their homeworld. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky Fortunately, the arrival of the Autobot Headmasters helped shift the fight in the Autobots' favour, allowing Blaster and a group of other high-rankers to convene at the Autobots' secondary command post on the planet Athenia to discuss the situation. Realizing the the Decepticons had been able to invade the planet thanks to the destabilization of Vector Sigma, the Autobots realized that in order to bring the computer back under control, they would have to locate the missing Matrix of Leadership, hidden somewhere on Earth by Optimus Prime. Before returning to Earth to outline their plan, Blaster gave the ill-tempered Wheelie a tape of music to relax him.

Upon the group's return to Autobot City, Blaster immediately detected Ratbat spying on their conversation. Sending Steeljaw to pursue the bat, Blaster found Soundwave lurking nearby, and a brief battle between the two old enemies ended with both combatants vowed to rid the universe of one another some day. The day came sooner than either expected, as Blaster joined Hot Rod in searching for the Matrix in the Arctic, and found Soundwave waiting for him. Blaster engaged his opposite number in battle to cover Hot Rod's retreat, with the clash quickly moving from a firefight to a physical brawl that saw Blaster rip off one of Soundwave's arms. After both combatants caved in each other's chests, it appeared Blaster had won when Soundwave's injuries consumed him and he exploded, but Blaster quickly succumbed to his wounds as well, urging Hot Rod to find the Matrix with his last words. When the news of his death reached Athenia, Wheelie played the tape Blaster had given him to commemorate his passing, finding to be full of soft, beautiful violin music. The Mystery of Planet Master

Knowing the super-science of planet Master could potentially be used to restore Blaster to life, Autobot Headmaster commander Fortress set about rebuilding the communications officer on his spaceship, the Maximus. Unaware of the secret project, Blaster's cassettes grew increasingly despondent over the loss of their commander and became unable to perform their duties, so Rodimus Prime elected to reveal Blaster's impending resurrection, putting a spring back in their step. When Blaster's reconstruction as Twincast was complete, he was teleported from the Maximus to Athenia, reunited with his cassettes, and was then immediately charged with investigating the Decepticons' newest weapon, the Madmachine. Infiltrating Trypticon on Earth, Twincast learned that the Madmachine was being controlled remotely from Chaar by Soundwave, who had also been resurrected as "Soundblaster". Twincast single-handedly overpowered the Constructicons to access the Decepticon space bridge, and made his way to Chaar, where he faced off with Soundblaster and destroyed the sonic controller he had been using to command the Madmachine, then escaped. The Great Cassette Operation
Later on, Twincast reported to Rodimus Prime that the Decepticons were gathering on Earth, in preparation for a raid on Cybertron that tragically led to the planet's destruction. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1 Soon after, he attended a party on Athena to commemorate the launch of the Sol 1 satellite, where he was badgered into serving as a karoke machine for Hardhead. The Solar 1 was stolen by the Decepticons to power a mysterious plot, The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok so Twincast was charged with finding out what the villains were up to. Presumably because of his role as a communications officer, Twincast was aware of Punch's undercover duties with the Decepticons as Counterpunch. After the Headmasters clashed with Scorponok near Chaar, he alerted Fortress that Punch had arrived to make his latest report. Return of the Immortal Emperor Later, Twincast learned that the Decepticons planned to raid the energy supplies Ultra Magnus was sending to the destitute planet Sandra. After the Autobots returned to Earth, Twincast helped investigate the sudden flurry of Decepticon attacks. He released his collection of Mini-Cassettes to seek out information, and personally accompanied Steeljaw on an investigation to an Autobot outpost in Alaska. Upon arriving, they discovered Scorponok had wiped out the outpost. Twincast and Steeljaw were spotted by Sixshot, who opened fire on them. Twincast demanded Steeljaw return to Autobot City with the information they had uncovered, while he stayed behind to cover the retreat. Steeljaw reluctantly left his commander to his fate, and Twincast was ultimately blasted into a ravine by Sixshot's winged wolf mode. Twincast reported to a series of caves where the Headmasters were searching for plasma energy bombs left behind by Scorponok and the Decepticons when they departed Earth. Blaster was a rather grim, brooding, rebellious loner who hated Decepticons with a passion. And while he was one of the best kickass fighters the Autobots had he had a bit of a problem with authority. Part of Perceptor's Autobot resistance cell on Cybertron, he often disagreed with his superior's orders, especially after his friend Scrounge went missing and Blaster wanted to hunt for him. Unfortunately, he found him in the Decepticons' smelting pool. Blaster was one of the Autobots who voted for Grimlock to be the new Autobot leader, though he soon came to regret this decision. King of the Hill!

Blaster developed a reluctant friendship with Goldbug, whose more naturally upbeat personality provided the Boy Wonder to his Batman. Blaster finally returned to the Ark, where his fellow Autobots begged him to take over as leader. However, he was forced to surrender to his former commander when Grimlock threatened the safety of several Earth children. Spacehikers!

Imprisoned by Grimlock, Blaster was strapped to a variable voltage harness as punishment for his desertion and disobedience. However, when Fortress Maximus and his Autobots arrived and Grimlock challenged him to a duel, Blaster took Fortress Maximus's place. Their duel was interrupted by a Decepticon attack. While Blaster and Buster Witwicky's girlfriend Jesse failed to rescue the young boy from the Decepticons' island resort/base, they proved instrumental in discovering the upcoming arrival of the legendary Transformers database, the Underbase. Club Con! Then Blaster, Prime, Snarl and three newcomers were temporarily displaced into Limbo to make room for Rodimus Prime and his own little band. Time Wars Like many other Transformers, Blaster was killed fighting the Underbase-powered Starscream, shot dead atop the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. Dark Star
Fat chance. Bludgeon and his army sabotaged the Autobot shuttles and took off to lay waste to the next world they found. Blaster was one of the few Autobots present to survive the initial Decepticon ambush on Klo. Over the next half-a-million years, the reunited Autobots worked to usher in a new Golden Age, and were finally poised to sign a peace treaty with the Decepticons and Ultracons until the long-missing Megatron returned to Cybertron, launching an attack in the middle of the treaty ceremony with his new Aerospace Extermination Squadron. The Age of Wrath With this new army, Megatron ushered in an Age of Internment, capturing nearly the entire Autobot army and putting them to work as slaves, extracting the very core of Cybertron itself. In the year 2003, when Shockwave's forces brought Optimus Prime and the crew of the Ark back to Cybertron to be tried as war criminals, double agents inside the United Cybertronian force delivered Prime and his crew to Blaster and the others at their headquarters in the Wastelands. With the help of Cybertron's greatest hero, the resistance movement began an open insurrection against Shockwave's loyal Decepticon forces and the Guardian robots under his control. Shockwave's regime fell, and the Autobots resumed command of Cybertron. Revelation (War and Peace)
In the year 1985, Blaster and Perceptor hastily took off for Earth in an starship poorly-suited for interstellar travel. Upon arrival, they unsurprisingly crashed, landing in the forests of Oregon near Mount St. Hilary. They were discovered there by a G.I. Joe team led by [[Flint (G.I. Blaster and his fellow Autobots fought the Decepticons on Earth in the distant past until an incoming ice age threatened to deactivate all the Transformers. Both sides went into hiding underground until the danger had passed, remaining in stasis until the mid-19th century. When they woke up, the war against the Decepticons started anew, though Blaster was not seen getting involved. Hearts of Steel issue 1
IDW Generation 1 comics
Before the war, Blaster was a reporter for the Iaconian Newsfeed Service. He reported live from the Nova Plaza after an assassination attempt on Nominus Prime. Chaos Theory Part 2

Four million years ago, Blaster was present at a victory celebration after the Autobots halted a major Decepticon energon convoy. The Iron Age

Blaster became known as The Voice, a patriotic broadcaster who used his gift with words to rally Autobots whose faith was lacking, or who were in a bad way. He was such a positive influence on the Autobots, it was arranged that he be assassinated. The attempt failed, but Blaster's damaged body was ejected into space. Picked up by a passing trawler, he was delivered home, where it was revealed that he had to have been attacked by an Autobot. In an effort to flush the traitor out, Blaster went back on the air. The attempt worked, and his would-be killer was revealed: Beachcomber. Soundwave had used Bombshell to implant a cerebro-shell and ordered him to kill Blaster. However, he was able to resist when Blaster used his greatest weapon: his voice. As a damaged Beachcomber was brought in for repairs, Blaster swore he'd find Soundwave and that the last thing he'd ever hear would be... the Voice. Spotlight: Blaster

Over the next year, Blaster began working alongside the Wreckers, and was recruited into a new elite fighting unit on-board the Trion by Kup. Spotlight: Drift As the ship's communications officer, Blaster started catching large amounts of distress signals before everything suddenly went quiet, and all contact with other Autobots was lost. Eventually, he caught a distress signal from Hot Rod, and the crew of the Trion went to save the turbo-revvin' young punk from Bludgeon and Monstructor. The day was saved by Perceptor, although Blaster disapproved of the scientist's transformation into a warrior, saying he had "defiled himself". All Hail Megatron issue 15

Blaster and the others harried the Decepticon fleet until they were baited into an ambush above Cybertron. There, the ship was shot down and forced to crash-land on the assumed uninhabitable world. Banding together to survive, they eventually encountered Optimus Prime's unit, only to find him incapacitated, the Matrix having been seized by Megatron. All Hail Megatron issue 5 Blaster mingled with the other Autobots for a while, but he didn't feel like having The Voice around raised their morale much. All Hail Megatron issue 6 He later warned Kup about an incoming swarm attack that forced them to relocate. All Hail Megatron issue 8 With morale still dwindling, Blaster attempted to break up a fight between Hot Rod and Bumblebee, but was interrupted by Sideswipe telling them they all deserved to die. All Hail Megatron issue 9

The Autobots were eventually saved when Omega Supreme decimated the swarm and carried them all to Earth, where they attacked Megatron and his troops (which included Soundwave, but Blaster probably didn't know that). Blaster was ordered to block the Decepticons' communications, allowing the arrival of Omega Supreme to take them completely by surprise. All Hail Megatron issue 11 He survived the great battle. All Hail Megatron issue 12

Blaster remained on Earth with the other Autobots for the next three years, as they regathered their forces. Streetwise radioed in to Blaster when Prowl got himself nabbed by Skywatch, an event which led to the death of Ironhide and the resignation of Optimus Prime. ...For All Mankind

After Bumblebee was named the new leader of the Autobots and formed an alliance with Gordon Horiuchi of Skywatch, Blaster was among the Autobots who captured Frenzy and other Decepticons for their new allies. The Hanging Sword Unfortunately, Horiuchi betrayed the Autobots and forced them to hunt one of their own kind, Blurr. Bumblebee managed to get free from Horiuchi's control, and so Blaster and the others stayed behind to cover for him as he sought a solution for their problems. The Impossible Knot They pretended to be making plans to hunt down Hot Rod while Bumblebee recovered the control tech Skywatch was using to keep them in line. The Gift Horse Bumblebee was successful, and Blaster was later present when Bumblebee unveiled his new, more powerful form, to better serve as Autobot leader. Wings of Wax

* Blaster (Autobot, 1985/1986)
**Japanese ID number: 38
**Accessories: Electro-scrambler gun

: Rather huge by the typical standards of Generation 1 Transformers, Blaster transforms into a miniature "ghetto blaster" boombox. He features spring-loaded buttons: when pressed, his "start" button stays in the depressed position until his "stop" button is pressed, while pressing the "eject" button pops open his tape door, which can store a single Mini-Cassette Transformer. Due to what was presumably a common internal misassembly issue, many original Blasters had doors which would not open when the eject button is pressed, nor would the other buttons work. Blaster has rather limited useful articulation, located in his neck and shoulders.

: Blaster began life as the Micro Change "Radi-Casse Robo" ("radio-cassette", you see), which was actually a functional AM radio. Though this feature was gutted from Blaster when he was released as part of the Transformers toyline, the original toy's power switch (on his right leg), earphone jack (on the back of his left leg) and tuning dial (on his chest) still remain, now as a moulded, non-moving detail. Even the toy's electro-scrambler gun is designed to serve as storage for the set of earphones which came with the toy, with the plug inserting into the stock, the cord winding around it, and the earphones themselves tucking into the hole in the gun's main body. It was not the toy itself which was the radio; rather, the radio was a small "micro-cassette" which plugged into the toy's internal wiring when inserted into its chest, allowing it to play through the speakers in its legs in either mode. As the electronic equipment in the chest meant that the figure could not hold normal Micro Change cassettes there, it featured a compartment on its back which could hold a single tape instead. This compartment could still be found on some early releases of Blaster, though it was a often mistaken by fans as a vestigial battery compartment, which was actually originally located in the toy's right leg.

: Blaster was reissued by Takara in 2006 as part of The Transformers Collection and then by Hasbro in 2010 during Universe (see below)

: For this Japanese-exclusive release, the first Blaster toy was redecoed into a rather cacophonous new blue, yellow and red color scheme. Like his contemporary redeco Soundblaster, his chest door was retooled in order to accommodate two cassettes at once, and changed from colorless clear plastic to translucent red as part of a gimmick with his pack-in partner, Steeljaw. This version of Steeljaw sports a new decal depicting Scorponok, which reveals the Decepticon's weak spot when placed behind Twincast's red door, working in the same manner as a Tech Specs decoder.
:Twincast's first reissue was available exclusively through online retailer e-HOBBY, designed, as most e-HOBBY exclusives were at the time, to accompany the mass-release of the standard reissue of the original Blaster. Though Twincast was unusual in that he was a pre-existing character, where the previous few years' worth of e-HOBBY exclusive redecos had been new characters, he did come packaged with a new partner: a redeco of the Eject/Rewind mold named Flip Sides. At the time, rather than feature unique packaging, all e-HOBBY exclusives came in a generic box in Autobot red or Decepticon purple; oddly, Twincast came in a Decepticon box, but since Flip Sides was characterized as a Decepticon sleeper agent, it just about made sense.
The other two bombs store in indents on the underside of his wings.

: His packaging art shows him with only half of his chest-door as clear-blue, emulating the original toy design's tape-window, but the final product (and stock photography) show the blue all the way across. :Blaster was among the many characters rendered by Takara as part of their series of 1.5" keshigomu figurines. Like all the Autobots in the series, Blaster was molded in soft red rubber, and featured a number sculpted into his back that was the sum total of his Tech Specs, for use in the various games that could be played with the figurines.
:Blaster was available as part of a 22-piece box set of Autobot figures, in a variety of colours through "gachapon" capsule machines, and later, in a peach coloration randomly packed as part of various other box sets distributed by Seven.
Notes
*Blaster had the preliminary names of Pulse and Blastbox.
* In the Marvel issues drawn drawn by Don Perlin and José Delbo, Blaster's head was drawn to resemble his toy, with a goggled visor, while the cartoon gave him regular eyes and a large forehead. Later in the comic's life, however, Geoff Senior (issue 75) and Andrew Wildman (issues 76-80) would draw his head based on the cartoon version (as, anomalously, would Herb Trimpe on the covers to G.I. Joe and the Transformers). Grimlock would later rationalize this in a UK letters page, which issue?, by explaining that Blaster's visor is retractable, and used to shield his especially delicate optical sensors from sunlight. Less explainable was Nel Yomtov's color choice for both versions of Blaster: a red forehead and yellow face, a combination never used on a toy or in the cartoon.
*As part of his hip and happening personality in the Generation 1 cartoon, Blaster's speech patterns were initially modelled on those of a radio DJ. While he would drop the occasional rhyme as a matter of lyrical cadence, slowly but surely, this aspect of his language began to override all others, really kicking in with the late season 2 episodes "Cosmic Rust" and "Masquerade", which featured more rhyming lines than not, and carrying on through his brief but memorable role in The Transformers: The Movie. With the advent of season three, any sense of gradual progression went out the window as Blaster suddenly became a cut-rate Wheelie, with nearly every line he spoke being an often-lengthy rhyming couplet. While his DJ-like speech patterns never really returned, "Ghost in the Machine" and "Carnage in C-Minor" did provide some notable instances of him talking normally as a result of the gravity of a situation.
* Blaster's absence from the second half of The Transformers: The Movie is often a talking point among fans. It stems from a deleted plotline from early drafts of the movie, in which he would have led several other 1984 and '85 Autobots as a team of guerrilla fighters, defending Earth against the Decepticons while Ultra Magnus and the other Autobots went into space to stop Unicron from feeding on the energy of the planet.
* The script for "Fight or Flee" noted the Communication Autobot of Paradron as a "primative sic Blaster". The intended family resemblance didn't really make it on-screen, unfortunately.
* Blaster hosted the Marvel UK comic's letters page for the final 33 issues (from issue #300 to issue #332), to tie in with his Action Master toy. Here, the letters page was dubbed "Darn 'n' Blast", replacing Dreadwind's "Dread Tidings", despite Dreadwind's holing himself up in the Marvel offices. The Decepticon finally left after a visit by three Christmas spirits, one of whom took on the appearance of Blaster.Dreadwind's Xmas! Blaster who complained that Dreadwind had decorated the office in all purple and orange with a solitary picture of a dog with sad eyes). His characterization in the letters page is more in line with his fun-loving, hip and happening self from the cartoon than the rather grim, brooding, rebellious loner seen in the comics. He arrived on the letters page in advance of his resurrection in the comics itself, which did not occur until issue #321. He was explicitly identified as being a non-transformer Action Master, though his partner Flight Pack did not appear.
* According to Blaster himself on the UK letters page, he has two siblings: Toaster and Karmen. And then there's Bluster, his retroactively-created and less-seen brother.
* Since the release of Universe Blaster, there seems to be an attempt on the part of tech spec writers to balance Marvel's dark and brooding portrayal of Blaster with the rock 'n' roll loving version from the original US cartoon. The Universe write-up has Blaster organizing resistance cells with Perceptor (with NO mention of his musical interests), recalling the storyline in US comic #17-18. The 2010 San Diego Comic Convention release of the figure not only mentions Blaster's love of music ("Any music, from Cybertronian magna marches to down and dirty D.C. hardcore"), it references "his hatred of the Decepticons", because "the war they started killed the music scene (and most of the musicians) on Cybertron"—combining Blaster's varying personalities from these two continuities into one.
** This also means Blaster is a fan of Bad Brains and Minor Threat. That rules so hard.
:Circuit Breaker is a human from the Marvel Comics portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Circuit Breaker is a villain whose pathological hatred of robots knows no bounds. She refuses to make the distinction between Autobot and Decepticon, blaming the Transformer race as a whole for the attack which left her crippled. As such, she is more likely to do harm to the Autobot cause than to be of assistance.

Circuit Breaker was genius Josie Beller. Hired by Blackrock Industries only a few years out of high school, she was responsible for designing the most advanced oil-drilling platform in the world. Despite her well-publicized technological achievements, Beller was humble; to her, it was merely part of her job. She continues to be extremely devoted to her employer, G.B. Blackrock.

But after being paralyzed during a Decepticon attack on the platform, she invented a uniform to enable her to walk again. Her computerized suit not only allows her to move, but grants her the power to shoot electricity, disrupt circuitry, and fly. This costume does not cover much of her body, but having the power to manipulate electricity gives you a good defense against inappropriate catcalls.

Fiction
Marvel Comics continuity
noteukonly

After Josie Beller appeared on the news, The New Order her life took a tragic turn when the Decepticon Shockwave attacked the oil-drilling platform that the news report was showcasing. Beller, who was operating the defense systems, fired harpoons at Shockwave. As Shockwave reeled in pain, he yanked away from the rig, ripping out the harpoon launchers, which, as a chain reaction of debris fell through the construct, caused the electrical systems to malfunction. Josie Beller was electrocuted. This paralyzed her entirely from the neck down, other than the ability to use her right arm. The Worse of Two Evils!

Hospitalized, Beller blamed herself. She told Blackrock that she had failed him, and swore she would make it up to him. Blackrock tried to explain that Beller owed him nothing, but she would not listen to him. Her devotion was, perhaps, pathological. She hated robots, she hated what they did to Blackrock Industries, and she hated them for paralyzing her.

Blackrock sought to equip himself better against attacks from the Transformers. Soon, he planned to unveil a new secret weapon to the press, the Anti-Robot Photonic Multi-Cannon. Josie Beller broke into Blackrock's office and disrobed, revealing an electrical costume which allowed her to move again. She declared her name to now be Circuit Breaker. The next day, when Blackrock unveiled the Anti-Robot Photonic Multi-Cannon to the press, it had been sabotaged by Circuit Breaker. She wished for Blackrock to introduce her as the real weapon he had intended to announce all along. But then, the Decepticons Starscream and Frenzy arrived, intent on stealing the cannon, while Wheeljack and Jazz arrived to stop them. Circuit Breaker's hatred did not distinguish between Autobot and Decepticon and attacked both. However, as the Autobots refused to attack humans, both Jazz and Wheeljack suffered heavily from her electrical attacks. Blackrock pleaded to her, demanding she realize that not all robots were her enemy. She again refused to listen. In need of a recharge, she left, vowing to return to finish the job she started. DIS-Integrated Circuits!

Still fuming and wanting revenge on all Transformers, Circuit Breaker witnessed a girl playing with her friends fall through the ice. She used her power over electricity to melt the ice to get her out, but her heart had stopped. She defibrillated her heart using her powers, saving her life. But the adult present was unappreciative, calling her a freak and telling her to leave. This made her even more angry at the Transformers for causing her injuries. As she was flying away, she witnessed Jazz loose control on the icy roads which caused Buster to fall in the snow. Circuit Breaker thought Jazz was attacking Buster and came to his aid, destroying Jazz's gun and getting ready to finish him off. Buster pleaded with her to spare him since they were friends. Just then the clock struck twelve. Since it was now Christmas day, Circuit Breaker gave Jazz his second reprieve and flew off. Christmas Breaker!

The anti-Transformers military task force, RAAT, hired Circuit Breaker to head their agency. Their first triumph was capturing seven Autobots who had found themselves recently stranded on Earth. Circuit Breaker ordered their faces mounted on the walls of RAAT headquarters. Aerialbots over America! She analyzed footage of RAAT's victory with Walter Barnett, who praised her efficiency, but expressed doubts about the Transformers' intentions. As Barnett handed her a bonus check, Circuit Breaker refused, reminding him that she didn't do this for the money, but for revenge.

Later, Barnett showed her the news, which was reporting that a robot had lifted power lines off of the road to save humans. He hoped this would impress on her, but she refused to even consider the evidence; all this meant was that there was another robot to hunt. She and a team of RAAT helicopters found the target robot, an Autobot named Skids, on the run from the Stunticons. The Stunticons made short work of the helicopters, but Circuit Breaker was able to divert some of them with her electrical powers. Motormaster, however, was able to knock her out of the air by throwing a truck cab at her. Skids' human companion, Donny Finkleberg, ran to see if she was okay, but she pleaded for him to leave the battlefield lest he be hurt. When the Aerialbots arrived, and they and the Stunticons battled as the super robots Superion and Menasor, Circuit Breaker made her move. Despite Finkleberg's pleas that Superion was one of the good guys, Circuit Breaker fried Superion, putting him out of commission. Skids, Finkleberg, and the Stunticons fled, while RAAT took custody of their prize. Heavy Traffic!

Though Finkleberg liked the Autobots, he liked money more, and he turned Skids in to RAAT for a hefty $50,000 reward. Circuit Breaker dissected and examined the robots in her care in order to learn more about how to destroy them. By then, she had amassed thirteen robots, and she continued to hang their faces on her wall. Soon, Walter Barnett came to Circuit Breaker's lab to inform her of a wave of vandalism perpetrated by a pair of Decepticon Battlechargers. She, Finkleberg, and RAAT arrived at Washington Monument, in Washington, D.C., moments after it was vandalized, and she questioned a family there that believed that their son's actions had inspired the Decepticons. Suspecting that the Decepticons were following the family, she accompanied them to their next vacation spot, Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her suspicions were correct, they encountered the Battlechargers there. Unfortunately, RAAT was forced to retreat due to the large number of people, and Circuit Breaker herself was hurt badly while protecting the vandalizing boy from falling debris.

Suffering a cracked rib and a mild concussion, Circuit Breaker was ordered to rest, but when she refused to listen, she was temporarily stripped of her command. Finkleberg, who was feeling guilty for having turned in Skids, convinced Circuit Breaker that the only way to stop the wave of vandalism was to team up with the captured Autobots. In exchange for their freedom, she assembled the thirteen Autobots into a mega robot which she controlled. Circuit Breaker and her robot suit fought the Battlechargers next to the Statue of Liberty in New York City, resulting in the Decepticons' defeat. (Though she wondered why her robot suit would use its arms to deflect shots away from her.) True to her word, she freed the thirteen Autobots, though this resulted in RAAT firing her. Once again she swore she would make the robots pay. Decepticon Graffiti!

Left to her own devices, Circuit Breaker silently stalked the Transformers from behind the scenes. Instead of parading around in her near-naked costume 24/7, she devised a wheelchair that housed her suit until it was necessary, and took to wearing a trenchcoat over her (presumably) naked body. From afar, she watched Sky Lynx return children to their parents, but the risk to civilians there was too high to get involved. Meanwhile, she had also taken an interest in Skullgrin, a ram-headed monster who had become a B-movie sensation. In order to learn more about the creature, she befriended actress Carissa Carr. She succeeded in putting on a sympathetic face and fell into the actress's confidence, and Carr permitted Circuit Breaker to intrude on the filming of her movies with Skullgrin. While filming at the Grand Canyon, Circuit Breaker observed Skullgrin revealing to Carr that he was actually a Decepticon robot, confirming Circuit Breaker's suspicions. She attacked Skullgrin, while the camera crew filmed the encounter. Skullgrin believed that Carr had betrayed his location to his attacker. Circuit Breaker was able to override Skullgrin's command over his own Pretender shell, turning it on him, but this resulted in Carr being in danger. As the cliffside collapsed under Carr, Circuit Breaker realized that if she continued fighting the Transformer and allowed Carr to die, she'd be no better than the Transformer who crippled her. Instead, she implored Skullgrin to save the actress, telling him that Carr had never betrayed his friendship. Despite this moment, Circuit Breaker quickly turned her powers back on Skullgrin once Carr was safe. Fortunately for everyone else, this battle had drained her powers, and she fled, but not before destroying the film crew's footage. Monstercon from Mars!

Circuit-Breaker approached Hector Dialonzo (AKA Dynamo), a superhuman with the power to draw energy from the Earth, after he wiped out the Air Strike Patrol; she hoped he would join her in a campaign against robots. By this point her mental state had deteriorated further, to the point she referred to Josie Beller as being "dead" and that she had been "built for" the task of destroying robots. She battled Starscream and clashed with Blackrock and his superhumans before Dialonzo decided he'd rather go with Blackrock than her. Blackrock then offered her a place on the team, guilty that he'd never truly reached out to her before and telling her she was becoming more emotionless than the robots. Rattled by the thought, she went off with them. The Human Factor!
When a Decepticon Civil War broke out in New Jersey and threatened to spread out into a place that actually mattered, New York City, the President of the United States called on Blackrock's "Neo-Knights" to quell the insurrection. ...All This and Civil War 2 At first Scorponok laughed at the efforts of these super-powered humans, but he quickly found himself overwhelmed first by Dynamo, then Rapture, and finally by Circuit Breaker herself. But as Scorponok was very important to Optimus Prime's attempts at reaching an Autobot/Decepticon alliance, he had assigned Nightbeat to keep the Decepticon leader safe. Nightbeat yelled at Circuit Breaker to stop killing Scorponok, and, as luck would have it, that happened just as Shockwave shot Circuit Breaker in the back. Though Nightbeat disavowed the blame, Circuit Breaker turned on him, believing again that there were no good robots or bad robots... just dead robots! After leaving a fried Nightbeat collapsed on the ground, she turned her efforts towards Optimus Prime. Blackrock's pleas for her to direct her rage elsewhere were useless, until he recognized Shockwave as the robot who had paralyzed Circuit Breaker in the first place. And, after he redirected her attention, so did Circuit Breaker. She hit Shockwave with everything she had and, out of power and out of consciousness, fell from the sky. Out of Time!

Thunderpunch carried her comatose body into the helicopter that brought them there, but before they could leave, the Neo-Knights and all Earthbound Transformers were all transported to the planet Cybertron by their creator Primus. This was a mistake, as their helicopter was in contact with Nightbeat's body, inadvertently bringing them along for the ride. They stood and watched Primus speak to the Transformers about their cosmological history and how they must unite and defeat the Chaos-Bringer, Unicron. The Void! (US)

Sure enough, Unicron arrived shortly thereafter, and the Neo-Knights fled best they could in the face of the planet-sized robot. Thunderpunch, who was carrying Circuit Breaker, noted that running wasn't solving anything. Instead, he felt they should be helping Circuit Breaker, who was having something of a nervous breakdown due to not only being on a planet full of robots but also up against one as large as Unicron. Thunderpunch believed that they would be best served helping Circuit Breaker to face her fears and redirect them properly.

As the Neo-Knights tried their best against Unicron, G.B. Blackrock tried to talk Circuit Breaker back into sanity, but instead she cried, whimpering that Unicron was "too big" and there were "too many." Having run out of other options, Blackrock slapped her across her face and told her the robots were laughing at her, hoping to make her lash out. Thankfully, it worked, and an enraged (more than usual) Circuit Breaker used her powers to set Unicron's circuits on fire. While the Dark God was distracted, Blackrock implored Optimus Prime to use this moment to end their nemesis once and for all: he'd just bought the Autobots a chance with Josie's sanity. As Optimus Prime reclaimed the Creation Matrix, Circuit Breaker's sanity and will gave out, and she fell comatose. On the Edge of Extinction!

Though Unicron was destroyed, the damage he inflicted on Cybertron was too great, and the Transformers readied transports to leave the planet. The Neo-Knights were put inside a storage box for shipping back home. Here, Blackrock did his best to apologize to Circuit Breaker for what he had done to her. Exodus! While the Neo-Knights would go on to have a quest for the Last Autobot alongside Optimus (stuck in the form of the Nebulan Hi-Q) and both saved the planet Vicious Circle! The Last Autobot? and helped in the Klo battle, Circuit-Breaker remained in a catatonic state.

And never recovered. The end! End of the Road! (US)
* As well as single-handedly distracting Unicron, thus allowing Optimus Prime to save the day, Circuit Breaker is also directly and solely responsible for saving the entire Marvel universe from the Beyonder, in Secret Wars II. At the request of Bob Budiansky, she was published in that book before her debut in Transformers solely so Marvel Comics could claim ownership of the character... or at least, she appeared as Circuit Breaker in Secret Wars II before Transformers, as Josie Beller she'd already turned up. "Circuit Breaker" is the trademark, so this probably makes sense for lawyers, but it gives us a headache.
* Writer Bob Budiansky is responsible for designing Circuit Breaker's costume. His original character design for her is published in Titan's Transformers: Maximum Force collection. (The character design's circuitry pattern is very closely copied in the image at the top of this article.) It suggests either red or blue for her circuitry patterns and some kind of yellowish hair. She has blue eyes.
* Marvel colorist Janet "Jay Jay" Jackson was used as a visual reference for Circuit Breaker, including the hair.
* Colorist Nel Yomtov's trouble keeping Josie's hair color consistent might be due to Budiansky's flexible character art notation. She starts out with bright red hair, changes to orange, then later appears platinum blonde, then back to orange!
* Somehow, Josie was going to have her mind fixed and become part of the Furman/Wildman Techno-X series, a reworked Neo-Knights in the early 90s. The series fell through, however.
* Titan Books earlier reprints had been able to use Circuit Breaker for a small fee, as nobody at Marvel was bothered at the time: after all, who'd want to read old Transformers comics, eh? Years later, Marvel figured out "many people" and it wasn't until Classic Transformers Volume 5 that IDW had the rights to reprint issues with Circuit Breaker in: before then, all stories featuring Circuit Breaker were replaced with text summaries.
:Starscream is a Decepticon and later independent from the Aligned continuity family.
Starscream was an Air Commander of the Energon Seekers, Cybertron's finest air warriors. His dream was to recover the Matrix of Leadership and become the Prime that would return the Transformers to the Golden Age, and he saw opportunity with the rebel upstart Megatron. A patient and polite schemer, Starscream used to wish Megatron would drop the heroic anti-caste charade and be more honest about his lust for power.

These days, he alternatively wishes Megatron would stop being obsessed with his lust for power and chafes under having to work for such a madman. While he serves as Megatron's right-hand man, he constantly looks for a way to become the commander himself and Megatron knows it: Starscream's extremely volatile personality means he is not adept at hiding his true intent. Fortunately for Megatron, Starscream is prone to panic, cowardice and bombastic gestures, meaning that it'd take exceptional circumstances for Starscream to actually manage to get behind him to shove the knife in.

He may be a scientist, but we're not quite sure.

That shot was perfect, much like the one who fired it!

Fiction
Aligned novels
Starscream may or may not have had a history as a scientist. Regardless of what he did prior, in the early days before the war began he was one of the leaders of the Cybertronian Air Command. When Cybertron fell into chaos following bombings by Megatron's Decepticon followers, Starscream was posted as Sentinel Prime's bodyguard. He was with the Prime at Altihex Casino during a performance by comedian Armorhide when the Decepticons attacked. Sentinel's attempt to flee rather than fight back made Starscream ashamed of his leader, so he had Skywarp and Thundercracker take him to Kaon Prison rather than the safety of Iacon. This earned him loyalty with Megatron, but wary of how sour a revolution could quickly turn Starscream opted not to be directly involved in the gladiator's operations, posting his Seekers at Moon Base One and Trypticon Station. Megatron was intrigued by why Starscream wanted to occupy "that semi-sentient pile of junk" but despite Orion Pax's research they found no clues, with information regarding the Station seemingly censored.

Whenever Starscream's Seekers were present, the Decepticons were victorious in battle against the Autobots. Starscream however, found Megatron's strategies overly convoluted. As the war devolved into a siege of Iacon, Megatron and Soundwave, by probing into forgotten areas of the DataNet, discovered Trypticon was a storage of Dark Energon, the life essence of Unicron. When questioned, Starscream explained since even the Air Command was not sure what Dark Energon was, he had forbidden its use, fearing the damage Megatron's gladiators would unleash. Megatron forgave Starscream, noting how he "was smart enough to be afraid of it", and was granted access.

Starscream sent a message to the Autobots proposing a meeting. Optimus only granted him a communication channel. Starscream stated if the Autobots did not know what Dark Energon was (they did) they would need to find out — and asked what would he could expect from them if something happened to Megatron. Optimus replied that he sought a just peace. Starscream said he understood, broke off the conversation and flew to Kaon Prison where Sentinel was held. Starscream offered Sentinel a chance to redeem his cowardly behavior at Altihex. The ultimate aim of this road to becoming Decepticon leader was to become Prime in a peace settlement with Optimus, and lead Cybertron back to its Golden Age. Starscream then flew to Moon Base One when Megatron ordered him to Trypticon, where he found the Decepticons had invaded the Station and slaughtered and maimed his scientists.

Megatron and Shockwave forced Starscream to select two survivors to absorb Dark Energon, for what was a successful experiment. Requiring more for the Decepticon war effort, Megatron ordered Starscream to capture the Geosynchronous Energon Bridge, below the ruins of Crystal City. Empowered by his first taste of Dark Energon, Starscream activated the device that transmitted Energon to the Station for it to be Darkened. But the Bridge still did not produce enough, and Starscream was ordered to find the Code Key of Power and Key of Justice to the Plasma Energy Chamber underneath the High Council Tower in Iacon. Starscream decided it was time to release Sentinel, renouncing Dark Energon after realizing Megatron had turned his soldiers into addicts. Starscream found the Key of Power within the Hall of Justice and flew underground to find his plan had failed, as Megatron had mortally wounded Sentinel. He could see within Sentinel's body was the Key of Justice, but was prevented from taking it by Blackout. Megatron fought Starscream to a standstill, sparing him because he realized he was a better soldier than a would-be example.

As Megatron entered the Chamber, Teletraan-1 activated the legendary Omega Supreme to fly it away. Aware Starscream had a better chance of escaping Omega's awakening, Megatron ordered Starscream and his Seekers to down Omega, in exchange for more Dark Energon. Giving up on his attempt to give up his addiction, Starscream gleefully accepted and they successfully blew Omega out of the sky, allowing the Decepticons to retrieve the Chamber and corrupt the core. As Cybertron became uninhabitable, the Autobots left on the largest starship ever built - the Ark. Starscream left the planet with Megatron as they gave pursuit on Trypticon, now a Nemesis-class supercruiser. The two ships entered a space bridge, which separated the two ships to unknown parts of space... Transformers: Exodus
Starscream had been on Earth at some point, but was assigned by Megatron to scour the galaxy for remnants of space bridge technology. Returning to their dead homeworld, Starscream built a weapons lab in Kaon and began building a space bridge. He was informed by his Eradicons elsewhere they had apprehended the Autobot spy Cliffjumper. Later, after basking in the glory of successfully activating the space bridge that would return them to Earth and its Energon, Starscream realized Cliffjumper was present. The Autobot claimed to be freed by his captors after defecting to the Decepticons, and warned them of Arcee: this ruse successfully distracted Starscream long enough for Arcee to activate and overload the space bridge, but he jumped in after them moments before the lab was blown sky high.

Falling to Earth, a dazed Starscream picked up a bunny rabbit, commenting that humans were smaller than he remembered. Scanning a fleet of jets flying overhead, he found Cliffjumper and Arcee driving on a road and launched a missile at them. He picked up Arcee's blown off arm and started battering Cliffjumper with it, but the Autobot blew up the rock formation above them and crushed Starscream with the rubble. Having received Starscream's signal, Breakdown came to his rescue, and the duo pursued and overwhelmed the Autobots. Just as Starscream was about to send them back to the AllSpark, Optimus jumped and landed on him, while gunning Breakdown away. As Starscream greeted his opponent, Bumblebee tapped him on the shoulder and sent him flying. Optimus opted not to finish the job, allowing Starscream to escape and fight another day as he got Cliffjumper and Arcee to base. Transformers: Prime (comic)
Before Starscream joined Megatron and the Decepticons, he was commander of a squadron of Energon Seekers on Cybertron. Partners When the Decepticons arrived on Earth, Starscream scouted a old 'Con ship called the Harbinger that had crashed landed on Earth. However he failed to record the coordinates of the crash site or find the Immobilizer. Partners Megatron had left Earth for the depths of space three years ago, leaving Starscream in charge. Starscream spent his time sending out Decepticon grunts to search for Energon depositsDarkness Rising, Part 2, and managed to set up a lucrative energon mine in secret. Rock Bottom One energon search was intercepted by the Autobot Cliffjumper. Once Cliffjumper was defeated, Starscream had him brought aboard his ship, where his captive asked where Megatron was. Assuring the defeated Autobot that he was his own master, he stabbed Cliffjumper with his fist, causing the Autobot to bleed out and finally succumb to his wounds. Soundwave played back a transmission of Cliffjumper and Arcee's last conversation, and Starscream declared she would be their next target, sending two drones after her.

Later, Soundwave picked up deep space transmissions, and a hesitant Starscream opened the space bridge for Megatron's return. Darkness Rising, Part 1 Welcoming him to his energon mine, Starscream asked (quite snarkily) whether Megatron had raised a new army in his three year absence. His leader replied he had recovered Dark Energon, the blood of Unicron himself, to the Seeker's concern; then he asked if Starscream were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, to test its abilities to raise the dead. Starscream declined his unhinged commander's request, offering Cliffjumper's corpse for the experiment. It resulted in a rabid zombie whose rampage was only stopped by Megatron slicing it in half: Starscream was left confused and unnerved by the idea Megatron intended to weaponise such things.

The zombie's activation made the Autobots think Cliffjumper was alive and they raided Starscream's energon mine to find it. Starscream reported this to Megatron, upset about losing the place, and was ordered to his annoyance to bomb the mine: Megatron believed Optimus survived, however. Feeling he had not spent enough time exploring Dark Energon's secrets, he promptly stabbed a shard into his spark, and Starscream looked in horror as a purple light infused Megatron's body... Darkness Rising, Part 2

With the success of the experiment, Megatron took off for parts unknown, leaving Starscream in charge once more. Starscream confided in Soundwave that he thought Megatron had gone a bit batty, and Soundwave responded by playing a sound byte of their master's last order. When Soundwave later picked up Agent Fowler's transmissions, Starscream ordered the human be brought to him. This done, he attempted to interrogate Fowler, who responded not only responded with sarcasm but demanded to see the "manager". Starscream, enraged, called for an Energon prod. He offered Fowler one last chance, and when it was thrown back in his face, Starscream began jabbing Fowler with the prod, noting that energon and the human nervous system shouldn't mix.Darkness Rising, Part 3

The torture eventually weakened Fowler to the point where he almost gave the location of the Autobot's base. However, the sound of battle outside brought about a bout of sarcasm. An annoyed Starscream shocked Fowler into unconsciousness before ordering a pair of Vehicons to find the source of the commotion. After Fowler regained consciousness, he proved to be dazed and incapable of answering anything. When Bulkhead and Bumblebee arrived and aimed their guns at Starscream, the 'Con in turn threatened to kill Fowler, only to discover that Arcee was perched above him, aiming her gun at his head. A stand off ensued, until another outburst by Fowler distracted Starscream, allowing the Autobots to fire on him. Realizing his disadvantage, Starscream fled. Once Megatron returned to the ship, he was outraged at Starscream's actions and proceeded to beat his subordinate for "delaying his plans". Starscream managed to quell his master's anger by announcing he had a way to get their plans back on course. Darkness Rising, Part 4

As it turned out, his plan was to send Soundwave down to use a radio dish array on Earth to set the space bridge's target. He kept a close eye on the team of Autobots who had appeared on the space bridge, confiding in Megatron that he thought they were up to something. When the space bridge appeared to veer off course, he contacted Soundwave to find out what was going on. Once the technical difficulties were sorted, Starscream opened the space bridge so that Megatron could throw the chunk of Dark Energon though. Starscream moved the ship back to a safe distance when the fighting on the rim of the space bridge became more intense, while imploring his master to withdraw as well. Alas, the space bridge exploded, apparently taking Megatron with it, and Starscream gave a brief eulogy before declaring himself leader. Darkness Rising, Part 5

Hiding his joy at Megatron's demise, Starscream gave a speech to the troops, only for it to receive a lukewarm reception at best. Recalling that the Decepticons had left warriors on Earth to guard the energon deposits, Starscream took Soundwave to locate one. They found and reactivated Skyquake, but to Starscream's disappointment, the newly-awakened Decepticon was not keen on accepting him as leader and belted him aside when the opportunity came to attack Optimus Prime. Starscream still believed he could salvage the situation if Skyquake successfully killed Prime under his watch, however a signal Soundwave detected coming from the location of the space bridge explosion meant a reluctant Starscream had to go and check it out. He found Megatron's body floating in space, having barely survived the explosion by virtue of the Dark Energon infusion. Starscream ripped the sliver of Dark Energon from him, but then realised he was being observed by Soundwave's drone, and was forced to take Megatron back to the sick bay on the Nemesis. Along with the news that Skyquake had been defeated by the Autobots, it was not a good day for Starscream. Masters & Students

Starscream's next plan, conceived when Soundwave detected a transmission from Wheeljack, was to have Makeshift masquerade as the Autobot and infiltrate the Autobot base in order to learn its whereabouts. Starscream paid a visit to the now-captive Wheeljack, who almost managed to goad Starscream into killing him. Soundwave stopped the killing blow, reminding Starscream that Wheeljack might be useful later. The two Decepticons retired to the upper hull to wait for Makeshift to activate the GroundBridge, but while Starscream grew steadily impatient, Wheeljack broke free and climbed up to attack him. The GroundBridge opened and Wheeljack stormed through, but Starscream's order to his Vehicon troops came too late, as the GroundBridge closed. It opened again a short time later and Makeshift was thrown through, landing on Starscream. Starscream hoped Makeshift had at least discovered the base's location. Makeshift didn't get a chance to say, as Starscream spotted that the Autobots had triggered the grenade on his waist and flew off before it exploded. Con Job After Soundwave picked up on another Autobot operation, Starscream figured it was a good opportunity to get rid of the Autobots while they were distracted, and sent a squadron of Vehicons on a search and destroy mission (inadvertently exposing their existence to MECH). Convoy (episode)

To Starscream's discomfort, the crew held a vote and he was obliged to call in Knock Out and Breakdown to aid in Megatron's recovery. The discovery that an Energon Harvester was located in an museum on Earth as all the excuse Starscream needed to put that on hold, and the other Decepticons soon obtained the device for him. He took it to Greece to try it out on an energon vein Breakdown had found there. When Knock Out tried to correct him on who had supplied the device, Starscream icily demonstrated its effectiveness on a passing Vehicon. When Bulkhead attacked them, Starscream turned the device on him as well, but then Bulkhead punched him in the face and broke the Harvester. When the rest of the Autobots arrived, and being ditched by Knock Out and Breakdown, Starscream fled. Deus ex Machina

While checking up on Megatron's repairs, Starscream was displeased to learn that Knock Out had engaged in street races with the humans. Starscream instructed Knock Out to seek his permission before engaging in such activity, and was exasperated that Knock Out insisted on calling him "Commander" Starscream, instead of "Lord" Starscream, as he still believed Megatron was headed for death. When Knock Out returned having been bested by the Autobots after another street race, Starscream was furious, both at Knock Out's disobedience, and the fact that he still called him "Commander". Insisting that it was LORD, Starscream decided to make an example of Knock Out, starting with a "cosmetic" punishment. Speed Metal

Some time later, after the ship's electromagnetic shielding failed, Starscream put the Vehicons to work fixing it. He enticed Knock Out into cooperating on the Megatron issue by offering the other 'Con a post as second-in-command. The pair attempted to persuade Soundwave that Megatron was a lost cause, and they should mercifully terminate their leader's life. Soundwave remained unconvinced and pointed out a strange cable attached to Megatron, which Starscream followed to find Arcee and Bumblebee. When Megatron's life support was damaged during the Autobots' exit, Starscream was overjoyed but reluctantly had to command Knock Out to reconnect the cable to keep Soundwave happy. Knock Out later informed him that though Megatron was still alive, his brain activity had ceased. Sick Mind

Overjoyed at this development, Starscream taunted Megatron's body with the chunk of Dark Energon he'd previously extracted from it, and announced he was going to enact a new, epic plan that would prove him worthy of leadership to the other Decepticons. Once the Decepticons had stolen a large lens from an observatory in Hawaii, Starscream had a heat ray constructed atop the ship, and began using it to melt a glacier to get to a huge energon deposit. Unfortunately the Autobots arrived, and Optimus was able to climb onto the ship. Starscream turned the heat ray onto the Autobot leader, but Optimus managed to slice the weapon, causing it to explode. An enraged Starscream prepared to terminate Optimus, only to be intercepted mid-dive by a resurrected Megatron. Megatron took his startled subordinate back to the ship, where Starscream first tried to weasel his way out of trouble, and then outright flee. Both attempts failed, and Megatron dragged the wailing Starscream away by his head. Out of His Head

Fortunately for Starscream, Megatron did not terminate his would be usurper. Unfortunately for Starscream, he was so badly damaged at Megatron's hands that he ended up in the ship's infirmary, on the same slab Megatron had occupied. His leader dropped by to gloat, but Starscream had his own plans. He took the chunk of Dark Energon he'd taken from Megatron when he was in a coma, and went to the site of Skyquake's grave, intending to resurrect the warrior as well as imbuing himself with Dark Energon. Unfortunately the Autobots arrived before Skyquake rose, and Starscream had to retreat through the Decepticon Groundbridge, albeit minus his right arm. Back on the Nemesis, he subjected himself to treatment from Knock Out. The medic attempted to interest him in a new arm, but when the Dark Energon shard he'd retained began flashing, Starscream realized that Skyquake must have reactivated after all. He speedily returned to the site under the guise of retrieving his original arm, only to encounter the Autobots human friends and Skyquake's zombified right arm, the latter of which attacked him. With the arrival of the Autobots, he retreated back to the ship and resigned himself to more of Knock Out's care. Shadowzone (episode)

When Breakdown failed to report in after investigating an energon source, Soundwave discovered that he had been captured by humans. Starscream suggested mounting a rescue, but Megatron decided that if Breakdown had allowed himself to be captured by those weaker than him, he deserved his fate. Starscream, however, took four Vehicon fliers in a rescue attempt, only to discover that he had been freed by his Autobot rival Bulkhead. Starscream offered "many sparkfelt thanks", then ordered Breakdown to finish off the Autobot. Breakdown eventually complied, but Bulkhead was able to overpower the weakened Decepticon. Starscream and the Vehicons began to engage, but Starscream ordered a retreat when Optimus Prime and the rest of his team arrived. Breaking off from the Vehicons, Starscream took time to tell Breakdown not to let Megatron know about his help, and that when the day came, Starscream would call on Breakdown to repay his debt—when the time came to choose sides between Starscream and Megatron. Operation: Breakdown

Starscream was confused when Megatron insisted they go to an old mine. When they found mining equipment still there, he tried to blame it on Soundwave, only for Megatron to pluck an energon crystal from a wall and reveal that he was aware of Starscream's ongoing treachery. Starscream pleaded for his life, until a distraction gave him the opportunity to escape. The mine collapsed when he was in sight of the entrance. He dug himself out and was triumphant, only to realize that Megatron had probably survived and could be a threat in the future. Intending to claim the credit for Megatron's rescue, Starscream dug his way back in, eventually finding Bulkhead and Miko. He threatened the girl until Jack Darby rescued her. Starscream figured that Bulkhead would at least be a nice bonus gift when he dug out Megatron. That plan, too, was short-lived, as Arcee came to Bulkhead's rescue. Starscream was left supporting the rock that Bulkhead had been supporting. That was how Megatron found him, and Starscream begged for his life once more. Rock Bottom

Allowed to remain functional, Starscream again found himself at the end of Megatron's fury when Airachnid revealed that Starscream knew the location of the Harbinger wreck, which might have contained a certain experimental weapon. Starscream was ordered to lead Airachnid to the crash site. He did so, but when Airachnid discovered that the ship had broken in half, she bound Starscream in a web and forced him to tell her where the other half of the ship was. Starscream was found that way by the Autobots, and told them that he wanted to switch sides. Skeptical, the Autobots bound him and took him with them. While the other Autobots went to investigate the other half of the ship, Arcee was left guarding Starscream. When he accidentally spilled the fact that he had been the one who killed Cliffjumper, it provoked her into fighting at length with him, and she eventually gained the upper hand. He was only saved from termination by Bumblebee, and Arcee allowed him to limp away. He decided that he would be an independent from then on. Partners

Many months later, Starscream snuck on board the Nemesis to steal energon cubes. Though he easily dealt with the Vehicon guards who demanded his arrest, he managed to blunder into the workroom while avoiding some more guards that was being used by the recently-amnesiac Optimus Prime. Orion Pax, Part 1
Orion Pax, Part 2
Starscream quickly worked out what was going on after Optimus stated his name as "Orion Pax", but was interrupted by three Vehicon guards and was forced to flee. One of them went after him but Starscream quickly dealt with him and left the ship but was shot down in the engine which caused his leg to be broken. He contacted the Autobots to exchange information for medical help. When Ratchet and Bulkhead arrived, it turned out they already knew about Optimus's situation, but were interested in what he knew about the space bridge. Starscream told Ratchet and Bulkhead were the space bridge was and Ratchet fixed him up. Orion Pax, Part 2

For the last thousand years of the Great War, Starscream was in charge of an orbital facility that had the capability of producing Dark Energon, though they maintained only a small stockpile because of its unpredictable and uncontrollable nature. The station's force of neutral soldiers were no match for Megatron's invading forces, while Starscream and Jetfire's repeated warnings that no one could control Dark Energon had no effect on Megatron's determination. Instead, Megatron tempted Starscream with knowledge of his past, reminding him of his demotion from Sky Commander to a mere guard over an all-but-derelict station, and offered to let him join the Decepticons, something Starscream scoffed at — at least, at first. Starscream attempted to destroy the station's stock of Dark Energon before the Decepticon leader could reach it, but failed, and watched, first with amusement as Megatron entered the storage chamber...and then with shock as Megatron infused himself with the substance and bent it to his will within moments. Starscream quickly volunteered his services for the Decepticon cause, causing Jetfire to label him a traitor and leave to warn Zeta Prime. Megatron sent him with Thundercracker and Skywarp to Cybertron to reactivate the Energon Bridge. Starscream performed the mission successfully using his trademark style, flair, and modesty, never mind Megatron's taunting and unreasonable impatience, or Thundercracker's warning him of the danger of certain courses of action, or even Skywarp's cluing in to his constant insults.

During the Battle of Iacon City, Starscream led the Decepticons aerial squadrons and Brawl led the Decepticons' ground assault, while Megatron, Soundwave, and Breakdown went behind enemy lines and tried to secure the Omega Key. When Megatron's group met up with Brawl, Starscream refused to send Dark Energon bombers, saying that he wouldn't let Brawl waste anymore of "his ships". Megatron took issue with Starscream dubbing the bombers his, and overrode Starscream's refusal. Later that evening, while looking for the "real" Omega Key, they ran into it: Omega Supreme. Starscream assumed Megatron was killed when Omega attacked a dropship Megatron was heading for and declared himself Decepticon commander. Shortly afterward, Megatron managed to communicate with Starscream and ordered him to attack Omega Supreme, getting the massive Autobot off of Megatron's back. By the time Megatron's group were heading for the missile turrets, Starscream was ready to sound a retreat, which Megatron overrode with the threat of marking any retreating Decepticon as "kill on sight". Fortunately, Megatron arrived moments later and managed to defeat Omega Supreme, making the retreat unnecessary. Later on, he was present at the Core of Cybertron as Megatron corrupted it with Dark Energon.

As the Battle of Iacon continued, Starscream fought through Jetfire and Silverbolt, and attacked Optimus's group in the Decagon. However, the Air Commander was injured by Optimus's Energon-axe and forced to retreat. The wound was apparently bad enough to cause him to sit out the remainder of the conflict. Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)
Starscream had been in control of Trypticon Space Station for years, until Megatron and his forces invaded. Megatron wished to revive the Dark Energon project to aid him in his conquest of Cybertron, but Starscream would have none of it. Megatron was able to fight his way to Starscream himself, and after a brief battle, Starscream had lost. He begged for mercy, and Megatrons spared Starscream in exchange for loyalty to the Decepticons. Starscream obliged and Megatron was taken to the core of the station.

After a test run of the Dark Energon's effects on Decepticons in Kaon Prison, Soundwave deduced the element would only destroy the host. A furious Megatron set Starscream to work on fixing the problem, with Starscream continuously bickering with Barricade over his usefullness. The problem was eventually solved in time for an attack on Iacon City. When Megatron felled Zeta Prime and found the Omega Key, the titanic Autobot Omega Supreme was unleashed upon the Decepticons, quickly crushing them with ease.

Megatron was downright furious with Starscream, declaring he had brought Omega Supreme's rampage upon them all. Starscream retorted that if it wasn't for Megatron and his blind troops, none of this would've happened. Starscream invited Megatron to kill him, but warned him it wouldn't do a thing about Omega Supreme out for their blood. Megatron for the moment let it go, and finally felled Omega Supreme, gaining total dominance over Cybertron.

Sometime later, Starscream ambushed an Autobot recruit-in-training, and would've killed him if it wasn't for Optimus charging to the rescue. He wasn't seen again after that.
Also, since the tail stabilizers fold into the sides of the tail to become the arms, the hole isn't very deep in robot mode unless you leave these fins folded out.

Millions of years ago
"Near the beginning of the universe," an entity known as Primacron comes into existence and begins to create. Among the beings to which he gives life are the first mechanoids known as "Primitives," one of which he takes as his assistant in his continuing experiments. His creations steadily grow bigger and more complex until eventually, he creates the planet-sized transforming robot called Unicron. Primacron intends for Unicron to consume all life in the universe, leaving it a blank slate for him to do with as he wishes, but Unicron rebels. Seriously injuring Primacron, Unicron sets out into the universe on his own, and Primacron's assistant escapes to a world near the centre of the galaxy. Call of the Primitives

>12 million years ago
Before Cybertron was, Vector Sigma was. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1

(See Beast Era timeline: Pre-Cybertron hosts organic life.)

12 million years ago
The alien Quintessons establish themselves on the metallic planet of Cybertron. The planet's precise origins are never divulged, but it is known to have rocky sub-levels, Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2 The Dweller in the Depths indicating an organic beginning. However, whether or not the Quintessons colonised an existing metal world or terraformed an organic one is never revealed.

Seeking to create a race of slaves to serve them, the Quintessons use their technology to create bio-mechanical beasts known as Trans-Organics. The designs are a failure, and it is decided to mass-produce robots for slaves instead. The Dweller in the Depths Forging their bodies in the fires of the Plasma Energy Chamber The Rebirth, Part 1 and imbuing them with intelligence using the mega-computer Vector Sigma, The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1 the Quintessons create two classes of robot: consumer goods and military hardware. With these robot creations performing all their labour for them, Quintesson culture grows progressively more decadent. Violent gladiatorial matches are even staged amongst the robots, with the losers smelted and their raw materials used to create new robots. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

At some point during this period, the consumer goods robots come into possession of the mysterious Matrix of Leadership. The origins of this talisman are unknown (there is some suggestion it may be connected to Primacron's assistant), but it was passed from robot to robot through the years. Known holders during this time include Primon, Prima and Prime Nova. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

Eventually, the consumer goods robots develop true sentience and rise up in rebellion against their Quintesson creators. This is the beginning of the First Cybertronian War. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

11 million years ago
A rebel cell of consumer goods robots led by A3, including Beta, turn the Quintesson slave brand into a symbol of freedom when they assault the Quintessons' Hive City. Although they meet resistance in the form of the Quintessons' gigantic Dark Guardian robots, A3 activates the Coda Remote device he has placed within his slave brand, deactivating the Dark Guardians and allowing the robots to take the city.Forever Is a Long Time Coming From this victory, the Quintesson line of dominoes begin to fall, until the aliens are eventually defeated, and forced to flee the planet. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

Peace settles on Cybertron for a time, with the robots building their own society, during which time, the Matrix is held by Guardian Prime. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

9 million years ago
The violent military hardware robots, now known as the Decepticons, seek conquest and begin the Second Cybertronian War when they turn their aggression against the consumer goods, now called the Autobots, at the time led by Zeta Prime. A series of conflicts ensue, with both sides claiming victory at different points in time. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2 Ultimately, never having been designed for combat, the Autobots realise the futility of attempting to match the Decepticons' strength and firepower, and, under the leadership of Sentinel Prime, they instead turn to stealth, reconstructing their bodies so that they can transform into vehicles and machinery. With this new skill, the Autobots are ultimately able to win the war, and they rule the planet for many centuries. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4 With the peace policed by the Guardian Robots, reprogrammed version of the Quintesson's Dark Guardians, energy becomes plentiful and the planet shines with a healthy golden glow, denoting this period as the Golden Age of Cybertron. War Dawn

9 million years ago
Eventually, however, the Decepticons also develop transformation, and they couple the technology with robot-mode flight powers to renew their aims for conquest. Thus it is that Megatron is born. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

Assembling a small group of like-minded individuals, including Shockwave and Soundwave, War Dawn and increasing his ranks by using his Robo-Smasher to reprogram Autobots, The Secret of Omega Supreme Megatron stages an attack on the outer cities War Dawn and kills Sentinel Prime, who entrusts the Matrix to the aged A3, now known as Alpha Trion. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

For whatever reason, Megatron's actions are not made full public knowledge, and the Decepticons' impressive flight powers make them objects of hero worship for the young Autobot dock worker, Orion Pax. However, Orion learns the folly of his ways when he is attacked by Megatron as part of an evil plan by the Decepticon to steal the energy in Orion's warehouses. Both Orion and his girlfriend Ariel are fatally wounded by Megatron, but are rescued by the time-displaced Aerialbots and brought to Alpha Trion. The pair are the first subjects for Alpha Trion's new method of reconstructing Autobots into truly battle-hardy configuration, becoming Optimus Prime and Elita One. Given the Matrix by Alpha Trion, Optimus became Autobot leader for the newly-begun Third Cybertronian War. War Dawn

Around this time, "shortly before" the war truly reignites, the scientists Starscream and Skyfire depart Cybertron to explore the prehistoric planet Earth. Skyfire is swept up in a polar windstorm and separated from Starscream. After failing to locate his friend, Starscream returns to Cybertron, eventually abandoning his scientific pursuits, enrolling in the Cybertron War Academy and joining Megatron's Decepticons. Fire in the Sky

4 million years ago
After five million years of war, Cybertron's energy is drastically drained, necessitating an Autobot expedition to alien planets in search of new source of power. Optimus Prime and his best and brightest board a mighty spacecraft, but their plan is discovered by Megatron. A Decepticon assault on the Ark's launch bay leaves Prime and his crew believing Elita One and her team have been destroyed. The Search for Alpha Trion The Autobots proceed to blast off, but they are followed and ambushed by the Decepticons aboard their own space cruiser. The ships are caught in the gravity of the nearby planet Earth and crash so violently that all the Transformers are knocked offline.

A trio of Decepticons bail out of the Decepticon space cruiser in an escape pod before it crashes, and they spend the next four million years quietly active in the Demon Swamp, adopting insectoid alternate forms that will eventually lead to their being dubbed "Insecticons".

(See Beast Era timeline: The Axalon and Darksyde crash to Earth.)

543 A.D.
Four Decepticons, two Autobots, and one human travel back in time from 1985 via the mystical Dragon Mound. They become involved in a dispute between two knights and then return to their own time. A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court

1984
A volcanic eruption reactivates Teletraan I, the internal computer of the Ark. The Autobots and the Decepticons awaken, and, now outfitted with new alternate modes that enable them to hide amongst the vehicles and machinery of Earth, restart the Great War. More than Meets the Eye, Part 1 The Autobots befriend Spike Witwicky and his father, Sparkplug, More than Meets the Eye, Part 2 but despite the humans' aid, they are unable to stop the Decepticons from building a new space cruiser and stealing the energy needed to power it. A final act of sabotage by Autobot Mirage brings the Decepticons' cruiser crashing back to Earth, where it lands in the ocean. More than Meets the Eye, Part 3

Although the Autobots intended to return to Cybertron, the revelation that the Decepticons have survived the crash forces them to stay and defend the planet. The Decepticons develop an intergalactic space bridge transportation system to send energy back to Cybertron, Transport to Oblivion while the Autobots expand their ranks with the addition of the powerful Dinobots. S.O.S. Dinobots War of the Dinobots The Decepticons unearth the frozen form of Skyfire, but he turns against his old friend Starscream and sides with the Autobots, helping to foil the Decepticons' plans to harness the power of the Earth's core. Fire in the Sky Fire on the Mountain

The Decepticons ally themselves with the human scientist Doctor Arkeville, using his mind-controlling hypno-chips to amass an army of human slaves. The Ultimate Doom, Part 1 Simultaneously, the villains construct a huge space bridge to transport Cybertron itself into Earth's orbit, causing massive worldwide chaos, and put the human slaves to work gathering energy. The Ultimate Doom, Part 2 At the eleventh hour, the Autobots are able to break the Decepticons' mind control and blast Cybertron out of Earth's orbit. The Ultimate Doom, Part 3

The Insecticons resurface and form an uneasy alliance with Megatron's Decepticons. A Plague of Insecticons

1985
5 Autobots, including Smokescreen, are captured by an alien gambler named Boss, where they (except Smokescreen) are paralyzed and sold to crime Lord Gicani, who bears a striking resemblance to another known crime lord. Forced to find a way to rescue his friends, Smokescreen teams up with Boss and a bounty hunter named Devcon to rescue the Autobots, who were almost forced to fight against giant, mutant animals.
Megatron is reformatted into Galvatron by Unicron, and he attempts to enslave Unicron with the Matrix. Unicron attacks Cybertron. Hot Rod opens the Matrix and destroys Unicron, allowing the Autobots to reclaim Cybertron. Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime, the new Autobot leader. The disappearance of Galvatron and the absence of other strong leaders such as Starscream and Shockwave causes the Decepticon Empire to disintegrate. The Transformers: The Movie

The Quintessons enter the Great War as a wild card opposed to both factions. Cyclonus recovers Galvatron, who becomes Decepticon leader again. Trypticon and the Predacons appear. Five Faces of Darkness
Needlenose is a fly airplane-bot who used to design the most righteous fashion microchips in all Cybertron, until a bunch of bogus dorks said they were totally last year. Whatever! This supreme dissage led to supreme pissage, and the cheesed-off designer joined the uber-bad Decepticons for revenge.

A willing if clueless soldier, Needlenose always keeps it fresh and fly. When he found out about Nebulans, he was all over that, and snagged himself two: Sunbeam, a gnarly surfer dude, and Zigzag, a cool old geezer whose black armor goes with absolutely everything. These two dudes can even combine into a single weapon, which is not at all weird. Telling Needlenose that this weapon is smarter than him is totally not cool. He'd, like, deck you in the locknuts for that.

He's bad-aft, is Needlenose. Not. Straight up, he's a big tin dweeb who thinks he's the bomb. He even plays video games. LAME.

Needlenose was sponsored by Spinister as a potential recruit for the new Mayhem Attack Squad, being gathered by Snarler to hunt down the traitors from the Time Wars, Carnivac and Catilla. Unfortunately, Needlenose was less than prepared for the stress of combat. During a training exercise he abandoned the fight, an act punishable by death under Decepticon military code. In order to save him from this fate, Spinister deliberately allowed himself to be overcome by an Autobot training dummy, hoping the sight of a fellow Decepticon in trouble would be enough to snap Needlenose back into action. It was, and Needlenose "saved" Spinister from his attacker. When Snarler asked if the new Mayhems were ready, Spinister refrained from mentioning Needlenose's problems, and pushed the team forward to their active assignment. The Hunting Party

On Earth, Needlenose and the Mayhems caught Carnivac alone with their robotic Hellhound, Way of the Warrior and began hunting him down through the American desert. Survival Run Carnivac's fellow deserter Catilla came to his rescue, only to be skewered and killed by the Mayhem Bludgeon. The other Survivors arrived and chased off the Mayhems, and Carnivac swore revenge for the death of his friend. A Savage Place!

Needlenose joined Spinister and the Triggercons in serving their lord Thunderwing on his obsessive quest for the Creation Matrix. Their first stop was a Pz-Zazz, where they knocked out and took Nightbeat, Siren, and Hosehead hostage. Bird of Prey! They next went to Cheyne, but took their leave when Dogfight proved to be an useless source of information. Kings of the Wild Frontier. Their next stop was Pequod, where Thunderwing sent Needlenose and Spinister to attack the Autobots there while Thunderwing could mind-link to the Klud that had traces of the Matrix inside. As the were recalled when Thunderwing found what he needed to know, Needlenose and Spinister began quietly questioning the sanity of their commanding officer, and what he was willing to sacrifice to acquire the Matrix (i.e., them). Deadly Obsession They went to VsQs, where they found an Autobot team looking for the Matrix. Despire the Matrixspawn and the Autobots, Thunderwing finally acquired the source of his obsession. Dark Creation After Thunderwing was possessed by the Matrix and went on a rampage through the Autobots' Ark, severely injuring Spinister in the process, he was cast out into space by the Autobot Nightbeat. Needlenose and the Mayhems surrendered themselves into Autobot custody afterwards. All Fall Down

Following Catilla's death, the Mayhem Attack Squad set up base on a deserted island, preparing themselves for the inevitable retaliation for the assassination. Unfortunately, the waiting was seriously stressing Needlenose's circuits. He staged a false Carnivac alert in order to time his fellow Decepticons' response times, and they were none too pleased with his antics. After Snarler and Spinister chided his lack of discipline, Needlenose returned to his quarters only to find Carnivac lying in wait, having slipped through the Mayhems' defenses during the ruckus. Needlenose cried out for help, but his fellow warriors ignored his death-screams, believing it to be merely another "test". Cry Wolf!
Needlenose joined Ruckus with his revised Mayhem Attack Squad in order to seek revenge on Nightbeat and Siren because they, like, totally threw him out into space once. They used an A.I. ship named Amory to lure their Autobot victims into an ambush. Unfortunately, Amory was only helping them because Ruckus was holding her pilot hostage and Ruckus, being an idiot, brought the hostage to the ambush for show-and-tell. One quick slash of Slag's sword and the hostage (and Ruckus's arm) were no longer in his possession. Now facing a group of Autobots AND a teed-off warship, Needlenose and the other Mayhems decided to beat a hasty retreat. Cheap Shots
IDW Generation 1 comics
Hundreds of years ago, when a Decepticon sleeper agent silenced "The Voice" just as the Autobot troops were waiting for a broadcast, Needlenose and a squadron of Decepticons under Razorclaw's command moved in for the kill. Spotlight: Blaster

Much later, Needlenose answered Starscream's rallying cry as the latter assumed the Decepticon leadership. However soon over one hundred Decepticons were filling up the moon base and everything there began to degrade. Razorclaw made the base into a deadly place where the strong feed on the weak. Needlenose eventually gave into this way of thinking and showed it when he helped to brutally murder and then cannibalize Dreadwind after the soldier stole some energon. All His Engines
When the Decepticons were captured after Galvatron's defeat (being weak after forming the Deceptigod), Needlenose was amongst the prisoners locked up and applied with an chip. Later, agreeing to Prowl's terms, he went on to 'discipline' the rioting NAILs. Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime
Later, he and Horri-Bull were made "enforcers of the peace" and beat up a NAIL who was making a graffiti on a wall. They were taken away from Prowl to Ratbat, who berrated them for their willingness to serve the Autobots. Needlenose was curious to know whether Ratbat had a plan, which he did and told them to stay out of trouble until the night. That night, Horri-Bull and Needlenose were caught bullying another NAIL. After being spotted and threatened by Bumblebee, Needlenose tried to calm down Horri-Bull, but the latter would keep defying Bumblebee, resulting in the detonation of his I/D chip. Needlenose stared shockingly at his deceased friend. The Autonomy Lesson
In the TransTech city of Axiom Nexus, Ruckus, Needlenose and Crankcase assaulted what they thought was an energon refinery, but it turned out to be a waste fuel storage depot. In robot mode, Needlenose's articulation is located entirely in his shoulders, which can move up and down as well as swing out to the sides.
