:First Aid is an Autobot Protectobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

First Aid is one of the most empathic and compassionate beings you'll ever meet. He cares deeply about all living things. Heck, he even cares deeply about the "pain" of inanimate objects. A broken or malfunctioning can-opener will earn just as much sympathy and attention as a fellow Autobot. Otherwise, First Aid is a soft-spoken and sometimes overly cautious sort (especially when it comes to the well-being of a fellow Autobot). Still, all the Autobots know he will work long and hard to do his best for them and that their well-being matters to him more than anything, and those are quite comforting thoughts.

First Aid is a member of the subgroup Protectobots and forms the left arm of the combiner robot Defensor. Maybe that arm never punches anything?

First Aid is an avowed pacifist. When the Insecticons attacked an inhabited city on Earth, Optimus Prime called upon the Protectobots to evacuate the civilians caught in the crossfire. First Aid helped an injured man discovered by Streetwise. Later, as Earth's orbit was diverted to the Sun by the Combaticons, First Aid brought civilians to a meat locker that Groove and Streetwise had commandeered to help the humans cool down. The Revenge of Bruticus

First Aid, as part of Defensor, was the arm that wielded the rifle which totally blew up Bruticus. Afterwards, he was with the Protectobots when they saved some window-washers from a burning skyscraper. Later still, First Aid and the other Protectobots were ordered to help defend Autobot Headquarters from a Decepticon attack. They merged into Defensor and activated his useless force field, which almost immediately deactivated, allowing the Decepticons to blast Defensor back into his component parts. B.O.T. (episode)

In the year 2006, First Aid was on Cybertron for the planet's first peace conference. He participated in a surprise birthday party for Daniel Witwicky along with Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, Warpath, Groove and Wheelie. The Combaticons then attacked a nearby shuttle bay, hoping to scrap the ships which would be used to ferry delegates to the conference. First Aid happily blasted away at the Combaticons. After the battle, First Aid was tending to a serious wound Magnus suffered on his back, when he used his own body to shield Wheelie from a Decepticon attack. When attention turned to the damaged shuttle, Ultra Magnus insisted First Aid repair the ship first and deal with his injuries later. Guess he forgot First Aid was a doctor, not a mechanic! (Ol' Ratchet sure wouldn't have taken no lip — he would have disconnected the patient's vocal processor first.) Surprise Party

When Superion took heavy fire over the Planet of Junk, Sky Lynx brought him back to Cybertron for repairs. First Aid arrived and began patching up the super-robot. The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)

The Autobots were asked to help the Dutch authorities deal with French rebels. First Aid wondered why the humans were always fighting amongst themselves. After dispersing the human aggressors, First Aid then helped out Blades when his comrade was shot down by Galvatron. While the Autobots held off the loser-ish Decepticons, First Aid carried Blades back to Metroplex for repairs. After he finished, the Autobot medic responded to an intruder alert and confronted the Decepticon Swindle stealing Metroplex's transformation cog. Unfortunately, Swindle managed to make off with his loot because the pacifist Autobot refused to fight back. Despite Rodimus Prime's attempts to convince him that they didn't expect First Aid to compromise his beliefs, he felt he was a liability to the Autobots and left. After helping some old junker robot chug down some oil and repair some refrigerators, First Aid received a pep talk from Hot Spot, which convinced him to come back to help the Autobots. While Trypticon and Metroplex fought it out, First Aid bravely entered the Autobot giant and re-aligned the stolen transformation cog to suit Metroplex, allowing the Autobot city to transform fully and defeat Trypticon. The Ultimate Weapon

Later in 2006, First Aid transported Jessica Morgan to County General Hospital after she was injured in a battle between the Technobots and the Terrorcons. Despite his helping to restore her ability to walk, the fact that First Aid was a robot had some negative consequences because some people are jerks. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1

Japanese cartoon continuity
Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers
When the Decepticon combiners attacked a baseball stadium in Japan, the Protectobots and Aerialbots raced to the rescue. After attending to the blaze created by Menasor's destruction, First Aid and his team combined into Defensor. However, Defensor's central component was damaged battling Bruticus; with Hot Spot out of action, the Protectobots could not maintain their super-robot form. Getting an idea, the Autobots' human friend Kenji told Superion to shoot out the legs of the Decepticon super-robots. With their legs damaged, Menasor and Bruticus were left open for First Aid and the other small Protectobots to link up as their new legs, taking over the Decepticons' locomotion, sending them out to sea. Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers issue 5

Later, the Constructicons were paving over a natural island paradise, and the Autobots sent a rescue party to save the wildlife and their friends on the island. Due to the medical needs of the mission, First Aid replaced Slingshot with the Aerialbots to form Superion. Even linked together, First Aid and the Aerialbots were outclassed against both Devastator and Trypticon, until Hound generated a hologram of Metroplex to distract the dino-base Decepticon, sending him over a cliff. Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers issue 6

Scramble City cartoon
First Aid and the Protectobots participated in the Scramble City project under Ultra Magnus's direction, working towards the construction of Metroplex. After the Decepticons uncovered their secret building site, the Protectobots rode into battle alongside the newly completed Metroplex. First Aid and his comrades arrived and formed Defensor just in time to act as the harbinger of Metroplex and his really big gun. Scramble City

The Great Transformer War
In 2010, Galvatron kidnapped the scientist Dalton in order to upgrade his combiner warriors. First Aid and the Protectobots joined forces with the Aerialbots to rescue Dalton from inside Trypticon. Superion was heavily damaged in the first strike run, however, and Hot Spot needed time in his repair bay mode to bring the Aerialbots back to fighting strength. While Blades snuck into Trypticon alone to rescue Dalton, First Aid, Streetwise and Groove defended Hot Spot against both Menasor and Bruticus. They held out long enough for the Aerialbots to be revived. After the Aerialbots distracted the Decepticons, Blades completed his mission and the Autobots rolled out for Scramble City with Dalton in tow. The Great Transformer War issue 1

The Headmasters cartoon
In 2011, Galvatron attacked Cybertron looking to take control of Vector Sigma. First Aid and the Protectobots were active in Cybertron's defense as Defensor during the assault. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky The Mystery of Planet Master Later, First Aid's team assembled on Earth at Ultra Magnus's command. Their mission was to stop the Decepticons from interfering with Hot Rod and the Headmasters, who were searching for the hidden location of the Matrix of Leadership. On a security sweep, the Protectobots ran across their old nemeses, the Combaticons, and went into battle. The two teams quickly assumed their combined forms as Bruticus and Defensor, as the fighting escalated. Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime

When Galvatron made another strike on Cybertron, this time to steal the super-metal Cybertonuron, First Aid and the Protectobots assembled before the Space Bridge on Earth to be transported into battle. Seeking out the Combaticons on the battlefield, the Protectobots soon formed Defensor and fought once more with Bruticus. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1 Defensor and Bruticus's battle continued as Defensor delivered a devastating smash to Bruticus's back. For at least part of the battle, the two teams disassembled again for man-to-man combat, Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 2

First Aid and the Protectobots were dispatched to Peru with the Trainbots when a volcano erupted, leaving a mountainside village in dire peril. Their rescue mission was blocked by the Predacons. Shoki and the Trainbots occupied the fiends so that the Protectobots could proceed on to the village and protect the innocent lives. Nevertheless, the Protectobots failed to reach the village, as they were intercepted by the Decepticons' second wave, the Headmasters. True to his devout pacifism, First Aid was not seen engaging in battle until the Protectobots formed Defensor. This left them grouped together and vulnerable, however, to an underhanded attack. Defensor was taken out of action by Mindwipe's paralysis ray, which was strong enough to force First Aid and the Protectobots apart and leave them completely immobilized. The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts

First Aid and the Protectobots were part of a strike team that flew to the moon to disrupt Scorponok's gathering of Decepticons. They immediately formed Defensor upon entering the battle. Return of the Immortal Emperor When the planet Sandra sent out a distress call asking for energy, the Autobots of Earth responded. While they were loading the Trainbots full of supplies, however, Galvatron and the Decepticons arrived to take the energy for themselves. First Aid and the Protectobots fought back against the enemy, and formed Defensor to counter Devastator on the battlefield. SOS from Planet Sandra

After the death of Ultra Magnus, the Autobots were desperately trying to pick up the slack during Sixshot's campaign of destruction around the globe. First Aid and the Protectobots assembled as Defensor to go out and confront Sixshot at one of the attack sites, but they apparently didn't fare too well. The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, First Aid and the Protectobots assisted Spike in rebuilding the planet after the enemy's departure. On one occasion, they located Sixshot's old command base. By combining into Defensor, the Protectobots helped Raiden and Computron obliterate the base, wiping out all trace of the Decepticons' presence. Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)

Following a lengthy period of inactivity, the Decepticons renewed their attacks on Earth. With Fortress still off in space, Spike Witwicky dispatched First Aid and the Protectobots to attend to the threats. In Canberra, Australia, the Protectobots confronted Bruticus at one of Scorponok's new Death Towers. As Defensor, the Protectobots were beaten severely by Bruticus, and First Aid was even knocked out of the arm socket. Using Scramble Power, Defensor switched Streetwise up to his shoulder and reattached First Aid as a leg, still carrying his fireball cannon. Despite this cunning(?) trick, Defensor was defeated by Bruticus. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1) As part of Defensor, First Aid participated in the Autobots final battle with Scorponok's Decepticons at the North Pole. He lent his energies to the Headmasters' Head Formation to revitalize Fortress Maximus at the critical moment. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)
Generation 1
noteukonly
First Aid and the other Protectobots were created on Earth by Wheeljack and the Autobots after they stole a recording of Devastator's combiner transformation sequence and modified it (and after Optimus Prime and Buster Witwicky shared a Matrix-induced vision of the future with the Special Teams in it) Second Generation!.

Having learned of a Decepticon plot to acquire the human-made hydrothermocline, Optimus Prime brought the Protectobots with him to Energy Futures Industries in order to guard the device. After Megatron and the Combaticons arrived ready for a fight, the Transformers allowed themselves to be convinced of a better solution by Ethan Zachary, an employee of EFI. Zachary would upload their minds into a video simulation program known as Multi-World, allowing the Transformers to do battle without damaging the hydrothermocline or the surrounding area. Inside the game world, First Aid and Streetwise were exploring Vineland when their path was blocked by a web of thick vines. First Aid wanted to blast through, but Streetwise thought better of it and merely lifted the vines out of their way. They were caught off-guard by the Combaticons Brawl and Swindle, but were then miraculously saved by the living vines they had refrained from destroying moments ago. First Aid then used his decrystallizer cannon on the Decepticons, making them brittle enough for Streetwise to shatter with a burst from his compressed air cannon.

Apparently, First Aid's pacifism doesn't extend to virtual combat. Afterdeath!

First Aid was later displaced to limbo right before Bumblebee's eyes, in order to make room for Death's Head. Wanted:Galvatron — Dead or Alive!

First Aid later attempted to console a despondent Ratchet after the death of Optimus Prime. Why he didn't help Ratchet try to restore Prime, we'll never know. Funeral for a Friend!

While not seen on-panel being killed in the Underbase Saga, he was possibly deactivated in that battle, since he was next seen in a life support capsule as Optimus briefly considered using a Matrix fragment to revive him after Ratchet's disappearance. The Greatest Gift of All!

Generation 2
When Optimus Prime and Grimlock discovered the threat of the Cybertronian Empire, they called in Autobots scattered across the galaxy, including First Aid. And, when Grimlock chose to disobey Prime's directives and make a tactical first strike against Jhiaxus's ships, First Aid went with him. They were quickly found out and captured, though, leaving it to Optimus to bail them out of trouble. Devices and Desires! (Marvel)

Sometime later, First Aid was working with a science team alongside Perceptor and Wheeljack. They attempted to find out what had devastated the population of J'asik, down to the cellular level. Samples taken from the bodies helped the team identify the killer, known as the Swarm, as an offshoot of the Cybertronian race. Swarm (issue)
Dreamwave comics continuity
First Aid was on Cybertron with the other Protectobots when they decided to counter the threat of Devastator joining the Ultracon faction. Escalation (Dreamwave)

Millions of years later, the Protectobots battled Menasor as Defensor when the Stunticons escaped from a penal facility... and lost, big time. Passive Aggression Defensor later aided in the Autobot insurrection. Revelation (War and Peace) After the Autobots regained power, First Aid and the Protectobots searched Shockwave's clone lab, finding Runabout and Runamuck barely alive, having been attacked by an unknown assailant.
: First Aid transforms into a Toyota Town Ace/Lite Ace ambulance. Due to the requirements of transformation, there are some significant compromises in the appearance of the vehicle, such as the rather visible hinge joints for the front end and the big gap in the back of the ambulance to facilitate his knee joint. There is a 5mm peg hole at the back to attach his large "Decrystallizer Cannon" to this mode.

:As a Scramble City robot, First Aid can form the limb of any super robot combination, though his nominal place is as the left arm of Defensor.

: During the initial 1986 run, there were two variants; initial runs had a die-cast metal chest, while later releases used plastic. When the toy was reissued in the European-exclusive Classics line, the rubsign was removed, but the rubsign indentation remained.

: This mold was also used to make Safety from the Guard City giftset in the Operation Combination toyline.
: The Protectobots were to be released as part of the second wave of combiners in Generation 2. However, this entire wave was ultimately canceled for unknown reasons. First Aid was to be off-white with seafoam-green robot chest, gold robot parts and a different rescue/ambulance deco. Vanishingly few samples—less than a dozen—of this item made their way outside Hasbro, including some on-card samples, which give him the unit number "P2".
Trivia
* First Aid's pacifism is only demonstrated in the original cartoon- his fellow Protectobot Groove is supposed to be the pacifistic one. In his various comic appearances, First Aid seems to have no problems fighting his enemies.

* Although the Protectobots in the Marvel comics are assumed to have been built on Earth (explicitly so in the UK), his advice to Ratchet after Optimus Prime's death sounds like words of experience. Afterdeath!
:Ultra Magnus is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Ultra Magnus feels he is a soldier and nothing more. He very much prefers taking orders to giving them, and even avoids opportunities for higher responsibility. But when he is forced into those opportunities, he betrays his real talent for the job. He's strong, resolute, dependable, selfless, and courageous. Sadly, Ultra Magnus is the only Autobot who doesn't realize this.

Believing he is nothing but a soldier, Ultra Magnus is perfectly willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good if need be. He knows he's more powerful than the average Autobot, and will throw himself at larger threats accordingly. He is respected by both the Autobots and Decepticons, due to his courage and self-sacrifice. There is a special enmity between him and Galvatron for this reason, for Galvatron may be the most deadly foe of all. (Also, Galvatron, given his mental state, probably doesn't approve of people he's had blown up getting back up afterward. This can be seen as a sore point for Magnus, too.)

He is sometimes Optimus Prime's brother.
Serving as commander of Autobot City, Ultra Magnus directed the Autobots’ counter-offensive when the city came under attack from Megatron and the Decepticons in the year 2005. After directing Springer and Arcee to transform the city into battle station mode, he and Blurr alerted the rest of the city’s occupants to the attack, but they were only able to hold the Decepticons off for so long. During the battle, Optimus Prime was mortally wounded, and, on his deathbed, passed the Matrix of Leadership on to Ultra Magnus. Despite his own misgivings, Magnus took possession of Matrix and became the new leader of the Autobots.

Magnus’s leadership did not get off to an easy start, when reports came in from the Autobots stationed on Cybertron’s moons of Unicron, a monster planet that was in the process of consuming them. Magnus quickly arranged for the Autobots to head to Cybertron aboard two shuttles, but as they were preparing to depart, they were attacked by Decepticon forces led by Galvatron, the upgraded form of Megatron. The Autobots fled into space and were pursued by Galvatron’s troops, with Magnus’ shuttle eventually being shot down onto the Planet of Junk. Facing Galvatron solo, Magnus attempted to open the Matrix, but the talisman did not respond, and Magnus was blown to pieces by the Sweeps. Thankfully, Ultra Magnus was soon repaired by the native Junkions after they befriended the Autobots. Magnus joined the other Autobots in the battle with Unicron on Cybertron and helped drive the last of the Decepticons from their home planet. In the course of the final battle with Unicron, the young Autobot Hot Rod opened the Matrix to destroy the planet-eater, becoming Rodimus Prime. The Transformers: The Movie Rodimus subsequently took over as Autobot leader from Magnus, and Magnus returned to his much more comfortable role of soldier, operating as Rodimus' second-in-command, regularly giving advice to the inexperienced new leader and trying to draw him out from under the shadow of Optimus Prime.
When the Quintessons attacked the first Galactic Olympics, Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike Witwicky were kidnapped and taken to Quintessa, where they were found guilty in one of the Quintessons’ twisted trials. Dropped into the Sharkticon pit, they were quickly rescued by their fellow Autobots, but the whole team was then set adrift in space when the Quintessons blew up their planet in an attempt to destroy the Autobots. They eventually made it back to Cybertron, only for their homeworld itself to come under attack by a united Quintesson-Decepticon alliance. Ultra Magnus held off the attackers long enough for Rodimus and the others to make it to cover, dispatching Ramjet and Dirge before being faced with Galvatron, who took a few shots at him before deciding he had more important things to deal with. When the Quintessons betrayed Galvatron in order to achieve their true goals, he turned on the aliens, and the invasion of Cybertron was repelled. Five Faces of Darkness

One evening, Ultra Magnus was contemplating the stars when the Quintessons impersonated Sky Lynx in order to abduct him. Having recently renewed contact with their ancient creations, the Quintesson scientists intended to test the Transformers. To that end, Ultra Magnus was forced into a Danger Room scenario, battling a hard-light illusion of Rodimus Prime. He was soon introduced to the other test subjects, Cyclonus, Wreck-Gar and Marissa Faireborn. Ultra Magnus overloaded the electron bars of their cells with his own body, freeing the captives. A chaotic melee erupted, and Ultra Magnus and Cyclonus began grappling for the right to bring the Quintesson ship to their respective leader, but before the issue could be resolved the craft began plummeting into a black hole. During a fight for the last escape pod, Magnus was drawn out into space. Astonishingly, it was Cyclonus who saved Ultra Magnus from the void, for it would have been dishonorable to allow such a proud warrior to die than the battle field. Unfortunately, this only delayed the inevitable, as the ship ultimately plunged into the black hole and emerged on the other side in a negative universe. Only by working together were they able to return through the white hole to their own universe. Magnus and Cyclonus acknowledged their mutual, grudging respect for each other as warriors, but vowed that when they met again, it would be as enemies. The Killing Jar

Later, Ultra Magnus was on a pleasure flight with Rodimus, Kup, Arcee and the Witwickys when a Decepticon attack forced them to land the ship's lifepod on a remote Autobot funeral barge, launched into space at the end of the war with the deactivated bodies of lost Autobot warriors. The tomb of Optimus Prime was empty, but Optimus Prime himself was miraculously alive. It soon became clear, however, that Prime was not in his right mind, as he fired on Magnus and the others, leaving them to die as the barge began plummeting into a sun. They managed to escape, but barely – the makeshift repairs to their ship led to a crashlanding back on Cybertron. Ultra Magnus and the others soon learned that Optimus Prime had mobilized the entire Autobot fleet to go after the Quintessons and "avenge" their deaths. They caught up to Prime's fleet, and against Prime's orders, Magnus and friends were brought on board. The Quintesson ploy was uncovered, and Optimus Prime regained his senses long enough to spring their trap away from the other Autobots, allowing Magnus and the others to flee to safety. Dark Awakening

After a lost Autobot named Sandstorm arrived on Cybertron, Ultra Magnus and the others learned of a Transformer colony world named Paradron on the other side of a vortex. Its pacifistic people had recently come under Decepticon attack after Scourge and Cyclonus accidentally discovered the planet. Working with Rodimus, Ultra Magnus assembled an Autobot strike force to liberate the Paradronians and prevent the Decepticons from acquiring the world's vast energon supply. Ultra Magnus took charge of the second mission with back-up from Blurr and Wheelie, but they ran into heavy resistance fire. This forced them to go to Plan 'B' – blow up the planet's energon core, and the entire planet with it. The Constructicons attempted to stop Magnus and Sandstorm from reaching the core with a seek-and-destroy missile, but Ultra Magnus simply grabbed the missile out of mid-air and threw it back at their attackers. Inside the core, Ultra Magnus took a moment to explore his sensitive side.

After setting the charges, Ultra Magnus informed Sandstorm that they had only five minutes to evacuate the planet. They breezed by Galvatron on their way out and evacuated to a nearby moon to observe the destruction. With the total annihilation of their planet, Rodimus and Ultra Magnus offered Sandstorm and the Paradronians a home back on Cybertron. Fight or Flee

One night, while observing the security monitors, Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime and Kup were greeted with the startling sight of Cyclonus and the Sweeps flying away from Cybertron with the former Decepticon Octane in tow. Since Octane had become an independent contractor working with the Autobots, Magnus and the others flew out with the Aerialbots to intercept the Decepticon raiding party. They forced the enemy back down to the surface, but let them go after Octane and his secret partner "Cyclonus" let them in on a double-cross. Cyclonus was actually possessed by Starscream's ghost and, after returning to Charr, they manipulated Galvatron into travelling to Cybertron alone, where he was ambushed and nearly captured by Rodimus, Ultra Magnus and the other Autobots. Starscream's Ghost

Ultra Magnus and the other Autobots took a relaxing break from preparations for the first Cybertronian peace conference to prepare a surprise birthday party for their human friend, Daniel Witwicky. The party was interrupted, however, when the Combaticons staged an assault on the Autobot shuttle bay, hoping to destroy the craft being prepped for the conference's delegates. During the battle, Wheelie took a glancing blow from Vortex and was left shaken and disoriented right smack in the middle of the firefight. With no regard to his own safety, Magnus rushed out into the line of fire and took several hits to the back from Brawl while shielding the fallen Wheelie with his own body. The Combaticons were driven off, but not before they did some damage to the shuttles. In the aftermath, Ultra Magnus insisted First Aid attend to the shuttle first before working on Magnus's own injuries. His demonstrations of bravery and self-sacrifice gave Daniel and Wheelie the idea of planning a surprise party for Ultra Magnus on HIS birthday. Their only question was WHEN exactly the date was. Their search for answers led to the Autobot Records Asteroid... and trouble. They were taken hostage by Cyclonus and the Decepticons, who set the asteroid on a collision course with the peace conference. Daniel and Wheelie served as living shields to prevent the Autobot defense from blasting the asteroid out of the sky. Instead, Ultra Magnus enlisted Sky Lynx for a raid on the space rock to rescue their friends. They sent the Sweeps packing, and Ultra Magnus went after Cyclonus personally to reprogram the asteroid's flight path. With the Decepticon distracted, Wheelie triggered the self-destruct sequence and the Autobots made it to safety, saving the peace conference. Afterwards, Wheelie and Daniel explained what they had been doing, and the incredulous Ultra Magnus remarked that even he didn't know when his birthday was (apparently the Quintessons had never heard of the Gregorian calendar. Go figure). Surprise Party

During an ambassador reception on Cybertron, Daniel Witwicky went missing and couldn't be found. Rodimus assigned Ultra Magnus, Blaster and the cassettes to look for him. Steeljaw's tracking senses helped unearth a lost Quintesson chamber where Daniel and Grimlock had gone. Magnus and the others soon worked out that their missing friends had accidentally travelled to the dimension of Menonia, thanks to an old Quintesson method of banishing criminals to other universes. While in Menonia, Ultra Magnus and the Autobots helped the local "Dragon of the Sun", the Golden One, fight off his treacherous pupil, the exiled Quintesson known as Mara-Al-Utha. After restoring his kingdom to him, the Autobots were aided in returning to Cybertron by the Golden One. Madman's Paradise
When Galvatron and the Constructicons attempted to turn a moon-sized comet into a guided missile to destroy Metroplex, Ultra Magnus led a team of Autobots to intercept and stop their plans. This team consisted of Blaster, Perceptor, Broadside, Hot Spot and maybe Grimlock. And maybe Superion. At some times Defensor. Also, several guys who looked disturbingly like Bonecrusher and the corpses of Huffer and Brawn. All of whom could change size at will. Anyway, Ultra Magnus confronted Galvatron, who attempted to turn into cannon mode and blast the Autobot. Unfortunately, his character model sheet was drawn pointing off to the right, leaving him unable to turn and fire before Magnus jumped him. Still, Galvatron somehow managed to grapple and wrestle with Ultra Magnus in cannon mode, despite having no noticeable moving parts of any kind. An explosion at the artificial engines the Constructicons had been installing sent the comet hurtling towards a nearby world called Eurythma. Before it could strike, it was destroyed by an extraordinarily powerful sonic discharge, a harmony produced by the musical Renaissance elf people who lived on Eurhythma. The mere backlash of the harmony was enough to knock all the Transformers out of space and down to the planet's surface. When Galvatron and Soundwave went after the source of the harmony, Ultra Magnus grabbed Blaster and Broadside to help stop him. Lucky he did, because Blaster was the only one who could understand the harmonic speech of the Eurhythmians. Although he did do some ad-libbing...and sometimes Ultra Magnus explained things in Blaster's voice. ANYWAY, Galvatron and Soundwave managed to assemble the three parts of the harmony, and left for Earth to attack Metroplex with it. To counteract their harmonic weapon, Ultra Magnus brought along the Eurhythmian leaders to sing in anti-sound and cancel out the harmony. Yes, they sang anti-sound. Then, Blaster successfully grabbed Soundwave's crotch, erasing his tapes of the harmony. The moral of this story is... the best way to win the day is through sexual assault and violating the laws of physics. Carnage in C-Minor

Ultra Magnus, Springer and Rodimus were exploring an electromagnetic anomaly in a remote part of Cybertron when the Predacons staged an attack on the Autobots. Their fight with Predaking was interrupted by a Quintesson experiment that turned the nightmares of Daniel Witwicky into substance, solid enough to do serious damage to the Transformers. The Autobots and Decepticons were forced into an alliance to try and escape the strange and ever-changing landscape. Ultra Magnus and Divebomb were almost eaten by a giant, and they were all assaulted by a many-headed hydra. The Autobots eventually located Danny and freed him from the Quintessons' machines. Nightmare Planet

After Scourge and the ghost of Starscream stole Metroplex's eyes and blew up his brain, Ultra Magnus and Rodimus Prime put Cybertron on full alert in case a follow-up attack occurred. They eventually managed to suss out that the Decepticon duo were working for Unicron, after they noticed the Chaos-Bringer had his eyes back. Magnus assembled a small strike team of Springer, Hot Spot and Groove aboard Sky Lynx to investigate the artifical "moon". The spy mission didn't go too well, however, as the repair work on Unicron had proceeded farther than they had expected: the Dark God expelled them from his head using a blast of electrical fire. Scourge soon alerted the Autobots to Unicron's plan after finding out the entity wanted Cybertron for his new body. Ultra Magnus and his strike team were prepared when Unicron's head touched down on Cybertron to make the connections, and set of a series of energon explosives at the base of Unicron, launching him back into orbit and without any new body to call his own. Ghost in the Machine

One day on Cybertron, Ultra Magnus was jovially describing the ongoing construction work on the new hyper generator to Rodimus Prime...up until the point when he realized Rodimus wasn't listening to a word of it. After giving Rodimus a passionate speech about the mantle of leadership, Magnus was offered a good deal on a slightly used mantle. Luckily for Rodimus, a crisis soon broke out on the Planet of Junk. Ultra Magnus and Rodimus took several soldiers with them aboard Omega Supreme to observe what was happening with the Junkions first hand. They were shot down en route by Cyclonus and the Sweeps, but Ultra Magnus managed to repair the damage to Omega and they continued on to Junk. Chaos raged in the skies over the Junkion homeworld, due to a hypnotic signal arranged by the Quintessons which was stimulating xenophobia and hyper-aggression in all who were exposed to it. Magnus and Blaster located the source of the signal, and then used Blaster's tapedeck mode to broadcast a disruption signal to counter the Quintesson transmissions. The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)

During the peace conferences between Xetaxxis and Lanarq, Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime and Spike Witwicky did their best to keep the two warring factions from tearing each other apart. Luckily for the Autobots, the two alien species were too busy hating each other to point out how unbelievably hypocritical it was for Cybertronians to be chiding them over centuries of warfare. Whose planet is occasionally blasted out of its own orbit by war, huh Transformer? The Quintesson Journal
After unveiling a new power core on Cybertron, Ultra Magnus caught Galvatron and the Decepticons sneaking into an old utility tunnel. He and a squad of Autobots followed after them, only for both groups of Transformers to get caught in a battle with the Quintessons' old creations, the Trans-Organics. These bio-mechanical creatures were dangerous enough individually, but the enormous Dweller was a threat to them all. It not only drained the power of any Transformer it touched, but also transformed them into energy vampires as well. Ultra Magnus was nearly drained of all his power several times by the creatures but was saved by his fellow Autobots. Eventually, Perceptor conceived of a power surge method which restored the vampiric Transformers to full functioning, and the Dweller was disposed of by launching it and the power core deep into space. The Dweller in the Depths
The Autobots were helping The City of The Future deal with a crime wave, when they received a hot tip on where to find Victor Drath, resident crimelord. Ultra Magnus, Rodimus, Springer and Arcee raced to Drath's mansion... and straight into a trap. Some impressive technology assembled by Drath's associate Old Snake robbed the four Autobots of their robot bodies and displaced them into synthoid human forms. Ultra Magnus found himself sporting some very distinguished gray temples, like Reed Richards or Hal Jordan. Luckily, the Autobots each found a jumpsuit nearby, perfectly matching their robot color schemes. Tragically, Magnus apparently ignored the matching hat that came with his outfit. Very Untouchables. Only Human

On an isodrite survey mission with Sky Lynx and the other Autobots, Ultra Magnus was attacked by an overly manic Galvatron and his soldiers. His frenzied state made Galvatron just as dangerous to his own men as the Autobots — he even batted away a Sweep who attempted to help him against Ultra Magnus. With the Decepticons so disorganized, Ultra Magnus was easily able to lead the Autobots in routing their opponents and making a clean getaway with the isodrite. Webworld
When Rodimus Prime was feeling down about his leadership skills, Ultra Magnus was forced to come up with an upbeat, cheery encouragement speech in the middle of a smouldering war zone. Tough job. The Ultimate Weapon

After plummeting through a Quintesson quadrant lock, Ultra Magnus landed hard on the planet Zamojin with Rodimus Prime, Blurr and Perceptor. The planet's remarkably high density made the simple, club-wielding natives far more of a threat than they ought to have been. The Face of the Nijika

Ultra Magnus officiated the unveiling of the Autobots' latest power generator on Cybertron, but, like many of their previous attempts at new energy sources, it was fraught with complications from the start. First, Grimlock nearly blew the entire system by throwing the wrong levers at the opening ceremony. Not long thereafter, Decepticon agents planted anti-electrons in the power generator, causing it to trigger malfunctions in all the Autobots. Magnus and a small group of Autobots had to travel deep underground to disable the power generator's dangerous broadcasting. Grimlock's New Brain

On a barren moon, Ultra Magnus was engaged in trench warfare with the Decepticons alongside Rodimus Prime, Springer and Blaster when their Primitive comrades began acting funny. Sky Lynx, the Dinobots, and other bestial Transformers on both sides suddenly abandoned the battlefield, answering a siren call only they could hear. Only moments later, the energy creature known as Tornedron struck the moon, draining away all of Ultra Magnus's energy and leaving all the Transformers lifeless and inactive. Only through the actions of Grimlock and the Primitives were they eventually reactivated. Call of the Primitives
In Japan, Ultra Magnus was present when Hot Rod first recovered after losing the Matrix of Leadership to the Stunticons. For once (hah!), his destiny and honor speech did little to sway the "chosen one", who raced off on his own, glad to be free of the burden of responsibility. Roddy had to learn this lesson for himself. The Burden Hardest to Bear
When the Hate Plague swept the universe, Ultra Magnus was one of the first infected and was transformed into a raving maniac with a fixation on exterminating Rodimus Prime. Magnus pursued Rodimus through Autobot City, but was subdued by Wreck-Gar, only to wind up infecting the Junkion, who in turn infected Rodimus. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1 Magnus and the rest of the universe were cured of the plague by the resurrected Optimus Prime. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2

In 2007, Ultra Magnus helped defend Autobot City from a massive Decepticon assault, which was actually a diversion for the theft of the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. Subsequently, Magnus accompanied Optimus Prime on a shuttle to Cybertron. After Prime got the answers he needed from Vector Sigma, he decided to go to Nebulos and left Ultra Magnus in charge of Cybertron. The Rebirth, Part 1 Magnus's tenure didn't go very well, as the selfsame massive Decepticon assault force was attacking the planet. Nonetheless, he and the Protectobots struck at Galvatron, and might well have done him in if Scorponok's reinforcements hadn't arrived. Magnus then ignominiously had his power pack torn out and slowly began to die from lack of energon. Still, he was able to relay Galvatron's crazed scheme to Optimus Prime and the Autobot Headmasters before blacking out.
Ultra Magnus arrived on Earth at some point in the late 1980s, bringing with him a collection of new technological advancements. Magnus came up with the idea of the global underground transport system, the Autobot Road, and was appointed commander of the Autobots’ new Scramble City project to create a new mobile battle fortress. He made his first actual appearance in the middle of battle to deliver Optimus Prime his freshly-upgraded trailer, now equipped with the "Scramble Power Buster" cannon. After using the weapon on the Decepticons, Prime and Magnus teamed up to defeat them with their "Double Cross Kick" attack. {{storylink|Fight!
At one point, the Stunticons began a smear campaign against the Autobots by disguising themselves as their foes, destroying human cities and leaving behind signed Autobot calling cards. One such card was signed by Ultra Magnus (a forgery, of course). Magnus joined the Autobots in proving their good name, although he and Prime seemed helpeless before the combined might of Onslaught and Motormaster's "Decepticon Great Wheel" attack. With a little help from Kenji, Hot Spot and Inferno, however, they were able to get the upper hand in the battle, and then promptly kicked the villains out to sea with their "Prime-Magnus Finish Double" technique, which was not at all identical to their "Double Cross Kick". {{storylink|Fight! While Optimus Prime was fighting the Decepticons on Cybertron in the early days of the 21st century, Magnus was charged with the protection of the Earth, leading to the construction of the full-fledged Autobot City. After the time-travelling Ravage altered history by shunting the Decepticons out of time, the Autobots were left to face the threat of Unicron alone in 2005. For a year, Transformer/human relations were so badly damaged that Cybertronians were entirely forced off of Earth by the Earth Defense Command, but in 2007, the EDC dropped the anti-electron field shielding the planet, allowing Transformers to return. As he had briefly held the Matrix, Ultra Magnus joined the ranks of the other Autobot leaders whose sparks retained their individuality within the Allspark, but he remained restless knowing that he didn’t belong. Using the cosmic awareness that accompanies joining the Matrix to observe the mortal realm, Ultra Magnus learned, by chance, of the threat posed to the galaxy by Galvatron II and his massive Mobile Battle Fortress. Determined to set things right, Magnus contacted Optimus Prime via their shared link to the Matrix, and resurrected himself in a similar body using Prime’s Reconfiguration Matrix. Ultra Magnus immediately set out to counter Galvatron II’s invasion and started raising forces of his own. Later, still with his mouthplate removed from his skirmish with Galvatron II, Magnus stood behind Bumblebee with the rest of the Autobots as Optimus Prime told them of an attack on a Carbombian cargo ship by a mysterious sea creature. MP-1B Cybertron Commander / Convoy Black Ver.
Once there, the Autobots discover a chaotic scene where aliens from many worlds, including the Decepticons, had arrived and were all engaged in a deadly battle with one another while also attacking them. Blaster discovered a signal coming from space that seemed to be hypnotizing everyone. Ultra Magnus and Blaster hatched a plan which involved Blaster playing soothing music, while Omega Supreme carried him into the air. The music calmed the combatants and cleared Galvatron's mind long enough for him to blast the Junkions' television, which he recognized had influenced his mind. The remaining Autobot elders spent years designing Ultra Magnus, a leader to lift the resistance out of a deep darkness. He was finally given life in or shortly before 1986 for Operation: Volcano. His role was to act as the crucial back-up needed for the Wreckers to successfully destroy their Decepticon targets and then escape in one piece. A serious complication arose when the Matrix Flame, the sacred and eternal blaze linked directly to the Creation Matrix itself, suddenly extinguished. Fearing that something catastrophic had occurred on Earth to the Matrix and its bearer, Optimus Prime, Emirate Xaaron made the decision to send Ultra Magnus to that planet to investigate, even though Operation Volcano was unstoppably set to begin in ten cycles. Magnus traveled to Earth by way of Space Bridge, and found the Ark's crew engaged in a deadly conflict with three new, yet unspeakably powerful, Decepticon warriors just as their leaders Optimus Prime, Prowl, and Ratchet vanished before their optic sensors. Initially concerned only with his investigation of Prime's sudden disappearance, Ultra Magnus ignored the plight of his fellow Autobots until he learned the two situations were linked; Galvatron and his lieutenants were time-travelers from 2006, having employed a mass-substitution mechanism that sent the three Autobots into limbo in order to accommodate their presence at this point in the timeline. This connection was revealed to him by three Autobots from 2006, who had traveled back in time themselves in order to stop Galvatron. They had a plan; they had the means; all they needed was for Ultra Magnus to keep him busy for, oh... an hour or two.

Easier said than done.

Magnus' battle with Galvatron carried them out of the isolated wilderness and onto a human freeway system. It ended when Ultra Magnus threw a tanker truck full of fuel into the path of Galvatron's particle cannon. Galvatron walked away from the blast — Magnus didn't. Still, the future Autobots succeeded in tricking Galvatron into returning to the future with his plan incomplete, and the timeline more-or-less preserved. Unfortunately, Magnus was out of time: Operation Volcano proceeded without him, with disastrous results. Only one Decepticon was taken out, and the Wreckers' leader Impactor was killed protecting Xaaron. Target: 2006
Ultra Magnus would not meet his counterpart, Optimus Prime, until Prime was inadvertently transported back to Cybertron in battle with Megatron. Hooking up with Lord Straxus at Polyhex, Megatron quickly disseminated false information about a new Decepticon made over to look exactly like Optimus Prime, planning to infiltrate the Autobot forces. Having temporarily assumed control of the Wreckers until their new leader, Springer, was ready for command, Ultra Magnus led them in hunting down the "impostor". This Prime's behavior led Magnus to be suspicious of his information and, after summoning Emirate Xaaron, confirmed his suspicions and welcomed the true Optimus Prime back to Cybertron. Distant Thunder!

Prime wasted no time leading Magnus and the others on a series of successful raids and strike missions against Decepticon-controlled territory. When Optimus decided to return home to Earth, however, Ultra Magnus was caught up in the space bridge's energy discharge as well, arriving on Earth but some considerable distance away from where Prime materialized. Having been frustrated ever since Impactor's death, Magnus welcomed the "vacation" this trip to Earth would provide him, and he took his time trying to track down the Ark's location. Resurrection!

For months, Ultra Magnus enjoyed a peaceful life in the American forests and wilderness, alone with his thoughts. A sudden seismic disturbance brought him back to reality, though, and into contact with three human females whose vehicle had been overturned by the tremor. One in particular, Cindy, took quite a liking to Magnus. As they traveled together to explore a nearby volcano and its connection to the tremors, Magnus was forced back into combat thanks to the arrival of his old sparring partner, the future Decepticon known as Galvatron. Burning Sky! Galvatron had constructed a power siphon atop the volcano's peak, and planned to convert the raw power of a volcanic eruption into enough energy to transform him into a god. Ultra Magnus teamed up with several Autobots from the future, who were trying to bring Galvatron back with them to face justice. Once again, Magnus was used as a "distraction" (read: living punching bag) while the future Autobots set up their plan to override Galvatron's time-jump mechanism and send them all back where they came from. Despite Ultra Magnus successfully getting the slag beat out of him, the override proved unsuccessful, sending only the Autobots back to 2007 and leaving Magnus virtually alone to deal with the fighting-mad Galvatron. Fire on High! Barely managing to rally his courage, Ultra Magnus threw himself into combat with Galvatron one more time, keeping him busy until the volcano exploded, destroying the power siphon and encasing both warriors in molten lava. Vicious Circle!

Several months later, Ultra Magnus was dug out of the volcano by the Sparkler Mini-Bots. They had been sent to Earth by Springer to monitor the volcano in case Galvatron ever got free. When Galvatron DID free himself several days earlier, though, they found themselves hopelessly outmatched, and hoped Magnus would have better luck. Sadly, the severe beatings Galvatron had routinely handed out to Ultra Magnus, combined with the final excruciating submergence in molten lava, had nearly unhinged the Autobot's mind, leaving him with a pathological fear of his tormentor. Confronted with Galvatron, Magnus would probably have gone fetal if that pose had any meaning for his people. As the Sparklers heroically tried to stand up to Galvatron anyway, Ultra Magnus saw his rescuers in grave danger and finally managed to push his fear aside and reclaim enough confidence to batter the Decepticon into a temporary retreat. Salvage!

Having renewed his fighting spirit, Ultra Magnus arranged to return to Cybertron with his companions in order to report on Galvatron's activities and hopefully gather the Wreckers for a counter-offensive. Instead, they found the Autobot base in Kalis full of battle signs, and the entire surrounding city-state a virtual "ghost-town". City of Fear! After confronting a legion of robot zombies, the Autobots eventually learned that a crazed scientist named Flame was trying to re-engineer the entire planet as a giant spacecraft, setting off an unstable fusion reactor beneath the planet's surface as a power source. ====Marvel UK future timelines====
In 2003, Ultra Magnus began plans for the construction of Autobot City on Earth, a transforming fortress that would better defend the Autobot secrets than the old Ark. In order to accomplish the construction, Magnus made agreements with the various Earth governments to acquire materials for the building and fortification of the city. To collect these materials, he assembled a massive convoy of Autobots to ride out to all corners of the world and acquire the necessary parts. In order to secure the secrecy of the city's plans, he had Blurr secretly transmit the necessary data to the Earth governments on a hyper-speeded signal, while Kup carried a dummy disk on a decoy mission. The Stunticons attacked Kup and stole the disk, thereby fooling the Decepticons into thinking they had access to the true specifications. Ark Duty A year later, Autobot City opened its doors and invited a delegation of human vistors to the ceremony. Despite a brief attack by Shockwave and the Decepticons, the opening went rather smoothly, and Autobot City became the new base of operations on Earth. Aspects of Evil!

Afer the destruction of Unicron in 2006, Ultra Magnus became a top advisor to the Autobots' new commander, Rodimus Prime. As the war for territory on Cybertron continued, Magnus was seen leading Jazz, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper as a fighting unit during a Decepticon air strike. Wanted:Galvatron — Dead or Alive! In 2008, he fought alongside the Autobots when a major Decepticon counter-offensive was initiated by Scourge and Cyclonus in the name of their master, Unicron. He and Kup continued to spearhead the Autobot battle effort on Cybertron when Rodimus Prime traveled to the planet of Junk to confront Unicron, and the Decepticons were ultimately driven off. The Legacy of Unicron! Sometime later, Eject relayed a distress signal to Ultra Magnus at Autobase, requesting aid at certain coordinates against an alien attack. With Autobot City: Earth off-line and Rodimus out with a sizeable portion of their troops to check on it, Magnus was reluctant to jump into such a potential trap. Still, his better nature ultimately won out, and Ultra Magnus led an Autobot troop assortment out to answer the call. Surprisingly, he found Soundwave and the Decepticons under heavy fire from the Quintessons, and ended up fighting side-by-side with his arch-rival for the good of the entire planet. Despite some signs of wavering by Soundwave, the peace ultimately didn't last, though, and the war would continue. Space Pirates!

In 2009, the long running loose-end of Galvatron being active in the past came back to haunt the Autobots, as a timestorm began raging at both 1989 and 2009, threatening all of existence. To deal with the problem, Ultra Magnus accompanied Rodimus Prime and several other Autobots back to 1989 to retrieve Galvatron...one way or another. Their mass-displacement caused confusion upon arrival, though, and led to a brief battle with their own 1989 Autobot counterparts. Ultra Magnus managed to fight off both Slag and Sludge of the Dinobots before he found someone willing to listen - Goldbug 1989, who had seen the mass-displacement effect before. Some late-coming Decepticons attempted to silence Goldbug before he could bring peace to the Autobot factions, but in the end the sight of Ultra Magnus carrying Goldbug's wounded body made an even MORE poignant appeal for peace. This ultimately led to an alliance between all four factions involved: the 1989 and 2009 Autobot and Decepticon factions. They were going to need it, as Galvatron had joined forces with his own "past self", Megatron. During the battle, Ultra Magnus traded fire with both Megatron and Galvatron, but Galvatron then used the oh-so-tenuous alliance against Magnus by tricking him into firing on Scorponok, leader of the 1989 Decepticons. Scorponok's henchmen (Mindwipe, Snapdragon and Triggerhappy) quickly forgot the alliance after seeing that, and tore into Ultra Magnus without any regards for the more serious consequences at stake. The damage Magnus suffered from their attack was severe and, after the battle was over and the timestorm abated, his deactivated body was seen being carried by his future Autobot comrades. Magnus's final fate is unknown. Time Wars

In an alternate future of 2510, the Decepticons were at last defeated, and Rodimus Prime planned to step down as Autobot leader. He announced Springer as his replacement, but an Autobot named Triton jumped in to contradict the decision, saying that Ultra Magnus was a much better choice to lead the Autobots in times of peace, not to mention the fact that he had already been chosen to carry the Matrix once before. Springer's combat unit, the Wreckers, didn't take kindly to Triton's comments, but then the Technobots jumped to the defense of Ultra Magnus and, as one thing led to another, shots were fired and fighting broke out among the Autobots. As the first bodies hit the floor, it became clear that a new war was beginning, and none of the Autobots were the wiser that Triton (the instigator of it all and one of the first casualties) had actually been a Decepticon deep-cover agent in disguise. Peace
Ultra Magnus personally chose a new S.T.A.R.S. Commander, to whom he sent a message inviting him or her to take up the role. This message guided the recipient through an exercise using "the special power you humans call 'imagination'" to visualize what it would be like to be several different Transformers, Autobots and Decepticons included. After that, the recipient was given the opportunity to "requisition" those Transformers for his or her "Command" via a form marked with the following address:
At one point, the Blackball was left in the safekeeping of Ultra Magnus. Galvatron, catching Magnus by surprise, managed to blow him up with a powerful energy blast from his fusion cannon. Recovering the Blackball, Galvatron began to gloat about his victory. That's when Magnus' body hurled his head at Galvatron like a bowling ball, causing the Emperor of Destruction to fall over like a set of pins and drop the Blackball. After Prime and Megatron disappeared during the first space bridge incident Fragmentation, Ultra Magnus retreated from prominence in the Autobot army. However, he was eventually able to overcome his own fear and take a role of leadership. Together with Grimlock, he was on the verge of ending the war when Megatron arrived and enslaved the planet with the Aerospace Extermination Squadron. Magnus was put to work in a slave mine. War Within: The Age of Wrath
Years later, Ultra Magnus and Shockwave worked together to replenish their armies in the Little Iacon incident. Many of the Micromasters created resented Ultra Magnus and Shockwave for bringing them into their war. Micromasters

After the Great Shutdown, Ultra Magnus was reactivated and took the role of security officer under Shockwave's rule, even if he was dissatisfied working under a leader who clearly held his own agenda. After many, many delays, Ultra Magnus confronted Shockwave about the mastermind's plans - but Magnus was silenced by gunfire. He survived by discarding his armor. War and Peace
After Shockwave had been removed from power, Ultra Magnus was content to oversee operations on Cybertron while Prime spent ten issues getting repaired.
Devil's Due G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers comics
Ultra Magnus was among the Autobot forces resisting Shockwave's rule of Cybertron, and was shocked when he witnessed Wheeljack get zapped by energy and vanishing. Investigating the disappearance along with Perceptor, Magnus found that the powerful Teletran 3 computer had malfunctioned and sent various Cybertronians dispersed throughout various points in Earth's timeline. After erecting a force field around Teletran 3 to prevent Shockwave and his forces from taking control of it, Ultra Magnus made a plan together with the G.I. Joes and Cobra members whom had been transported to Cybertron by the computer. As he was feeding the force field with his own power and Perceptor was operating Teletran 3, it was up to the humans to travel back in time and retrieve the lost Transformers, or else time travel "feedback" would lead to the destruction of Earth. Unfortunately, his force field could only stay up for twelve hours at best. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II issue 1

Fortunately his wounds weren't lethal, and some time later, Ultra Magnus joined a team of Autobots preparing to rescue Optimus Prime from Serpent O.R.'s imprisonment. The Art of War issue 4 After receiving reinforcements from G.I. Joe, they attacked, they attacked the Decepticon base and fought against Serpent O.R.'s army. While urging his comrades to never give up, Ultra Magnus helped with a barrage of weaponsfire against Trypticon's throat. After the defeat of Serpent O.R., he attended Bumblebee's funeral alongside Hot Rod and Arcee. The Art of War issue 5

A few months later, Ultra Magnus was put in control of Cybertron while Optimus Prime left for Earth to investigate a mysterious signal from outer space. When Hot Rod hurt Prime's feelings by accusing him of doing things himself because he felt guilty about Bumblebee's death, Magnus told the young Autobot that he really needed to learn when to stay quiet. Black Horizon, Part 1 of 2
Just before the War, Ultra Magnus attended the funeral of Bumper and Fastback. Megatron Origin issue 3

Countless years later, in the present day, Magnus was an agent of the Tyrest Accord, upholding the Code of Interplanetary Conflict, a treaty between Autobots, Decepticons and other alien races. As an enforcer of the Accord, Magnus hunted down any Transformers, Autobots and Decepticons alike, who illegally sell or distribute Cybertronian technology, handing them over to their superiors for prosecution.

One such violation saw Ultra Magnus pursue the Autobot Arcee, who was pursuing a paranoid vendetta against Jhiaxus, the scientist who allegedly transformed her into her current state against her will. When he caught up with Arcee, it took a combination of holographic trickery and shock grenades to put her down. Magnus shipped her off to Fortress Maximus's care at the Garrus-9 penitentiary. Spotlight: Arcee

On another mission, Ultra Magnus tracked the Decepticon Swindle to the planet Zull. After arresting the criminal, Magnus reluctantly released Swindle in exchange for the current whereabouts of an even greater offender: Scorponok. Magnus had a personal grudge against Scorponok, who was the Autobot's polar opposite; while Magnus set great stock in rules, Scorponok flouted them. Ultra Magnus followed Swindle's lead to the planet Nebulos, and although he disrupted Scorponok's operations, the Decepticon was able to escape. Spotlight: Ultra Magnus

Years later, Magnus arrested Swindle for yet another violation, and once again, Swindle offered a deal, leaving Magnus to wonder whether it's necessary to break the rules to catch those who've been caught breaking them. Escalation issue 1 Exactly what Magnus did with Swindle is unclear, but he soon made another report to Optimus Prime, claiming to have picked up a new "lead" on Scorponok, suggesting that yet another deal had been made with Swindle. Spotlight: Optimus Prime

After the break-in on Garrus-9, Ultra Magnus told Optimus Prime that he was heading there to follow up on the escaped prisoners, but received a distress call from Hound and changes course to assist their crew. Magnus arrived in time to help drive off Cyclonus and together, they tracked him to Corata-Vaz. After Cyclonus activated the Nega-Core, he hesitated activating the guardian, Thunderwing, due to the destruction he caused Cybertron. Cyclonus walked out of the cave and was ambushed by Hound's crew and Magnus. After a skirmish, Cyclonus was brought down by Warpath and Magnus held a gun to his head. As a last resort, Cyclonus detached his hand, which rocketed to the cave and activated Thunderwing. Using the distraction, Cyclonus escaped but Magnus sent another tracker after him. Spotlight: Cyclonus
Ultra Magnus would later work out the identities of Cyclonus and Galvatron Spotlight: Hardhead and receive intell on the Dead Universe's plot. Spotlight: Doubledealer With Optimus otherwise engaged, Ultra Magnus informed the various Autobot teams of the situation, helped direct their strategy, and came up with the idea sending Arcee to deal with Jhiaxus. Man can deal with a lot. Spotlight: Sideswipe

Sometime after the Expansion, Ultra Magnus received a signal from a battered Hot Rod, requesting some backup for Sunstreaker, who had gone into Scorponok's Machination headquarters building to reclaim his head. Ultra Magnus decided to put an end to Scorponok, once and for all. Maximum Dinobots issue 4 By the time Ultra Magnus arrived at Machination HQ, the long missing Dynobots had already defeated Scorponok, but Ultra Magnus stopped them from killing him, saying that he would be punished under Intergalactic law, and ordered the Machination stripped of all Cybertronian technology. After rendezvousing with Optimus Prime's crew, Ultra Magnus relayed the events to Optimus, who felt they were well and truly compromised on Earth. Once business was concluded, Ultra Magnus left with Grimlock, Scorponok, and Shockwave as his prisoners, telling Grimlock that his assistance would help reduce his sentence and that the warrants on the other Dynobots had been rescinded. Maximum Dinobots issue 5
Trivia
* It has been speculated by some fans that, in the animated continuity, Ultra Magnus may have been created from Orion Pax's friend Dion, the same way and at the same time Prime and Elita One were rebuilt by Alpha Trion.

:For further elaboration, see Who is Dion?.

* Ultra Magnus is Optimus Prime's brother in the Dreamwave continuity, and possibly also in IDW continuity. Additionally, Optimus Prime also was described as treating Ultra Magnus as his "kid brother" in TV Magazine's issue #4 of Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers manga.

* In the early promotional trailer/test footage for "The Transformers: The Movie", Ultra Magnus can be seen in alternate Autobot City sequences in his toy's original Diaclone color scheme, indicating the final coloration may have been a late change to the toy. This footage has appeared in various Transformers DVDs over the years.

* On that note, The Diaclone toy that would become Magnus --called "Powered Convoy"-- came in a couple different varieties. Aside from the version that was eventually turned into "Movie Preview" Magnus, there was a "Mekki" (meaning "chrome") version that used a lighter gray outer plastic and chromed the central body/lower ramps of the trailer unit. This Mekki version was also available in a multi-pack with a red version of the toy that would become Mirage, and the toy that would (20-ish years later) become Deep Cover.

* The chest-plate for the large Magnus robot was originally a mini-jet for a single Diaclone pilot. The raised rectangle in the center is actually a mounting point for the large robot head, using the hole in the crest, which forms a booster engine and blasters for the craft. Because of this, the Diaclone version had wheels on its underside that were removed from the Transformers release.

* All versions of the Diaclone Powered Convoy toy came with a red "Powered Buggy" partner-robot that transformed from a futuristic buggy (with a space for a Diaclone pilot) to robot, which could also use the large rifle in either mode. Why this was excised from the Transformers incarnation is unknown. The Italian Trasformer (sic) line by GiG, however, did release the vehicle as the "Super Buggy" on its own.

* The "Sport Label" subline from Takara features a Convoy (Optimus Prime) that transforms into a Nike sneaker. A redeco of this mold was done in white and aqua, giving it a very obvious Ultra Magnus vibe... but was marked as Convoy again. So, officially...

: (As an odd postscript to this tale of footwear-induced madness, although the promo pictures all showed the shoeformer as a white and navy blue sneaker that transforms into a white and aqua blue robot, the product actually released sported [geddit?] much darker colours for all the robot-mode parts, with a deep teal instead of aqua, and almost all the white replaced by an icky tan-cum-cream-cum-grey colour, including the head. Basically, the figure looks like the promo picture viewed through really dark sunglasses. Although this certainly doesn't make it look any more like Prime, you might argue that it looks a little less like Magnus. Sorta. Maybe. Not really.)

* Also in 2007, Takara's boutique "Music Label" line featured an all-white redeco of Optimus Prime featuring a new, ball-jointed head sculpt (a miniaturization of the Masterpiece toy's) and pulling an all-new trailer that "transforms" (charitably) into a working iPod dock. However, much as you might think that this all-white Prime is obviously intended to be yet another white-redeco Magnus... iPod Convoy is officially Optimus Prime, not Ultra Magnus. That makes it twice in one year that Takara has released a white Prime that is actually Optimus rather than Magnus. Dissed, Magnus. Dissed.

*In the Beast Era future, the Predacon Killer Punch (a bit of a paranoid conspiracy nut) believes that Ultra Magnus was secretly a Decepticon agent. This is, shall we say... unlikely.

* This Ultra Magnus, along with the original Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, and Jazz makes a cameo appearance as one of the four elders who began the Space Bridge project in the Cybertron episode Balance.
:Voice actor: Frank Welker (English), Kazue Komiya (Japanese)

[[Image:Wheelietftmslingshot.jpg|right|250px|thumb|From early on, it was fated:
It would be me that you all hated!
]]

On far off Quintessa his ship it did crash,
Wheelie survived, but his ship turned to ash.
Though friendless and alone, Wheelie stayed alive,
For Wheelie is strong and the strong must survive!
One fateful day, the Dinobots came in search of their friends,
So Wheelie gayly offered to help them meet their ends.
With his confident walk and his whimsical talk,
Wheelie earned the respect of the Mighty Grimlock!
Then with the help of Hot Rod, Kup and the rest,
Wheelie returned to Cybertron, most can attest.
The Transformers: The Movie

In 2006, for all that it's worth,
He had to bring Metroplex's cog down to Earth.
Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1

To accomplish the task, they paired him with fast-talking Blurr,
But Galvatron stranded them on Io, that villainous cur!
Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3

[[Image:FFOD4 Autobots lipoles.JPG|right|250px|thumb|With beasts big and small I've had my spats,
but did Wheelie deserve to fight all these bats?
]]

Being attacked by lipoles, things began to look grim,
But on account of the fact Blurr was faster than him,
Wheelie threw him the cog and told him to flee,
To Marissa Faireborn's ship and to safety.
But the valiant Blurr refused to leave his friend,
And so the pair of heroes fought through to the end.
When Marissa came and helped, the lipoles got wise,
Targeting her ship and blowing it out of the skies!
Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4

The trio fought on, but their nerves were shaken,
'Til Sky Lynx showed up to save their bacon!
Though the lipoles were dispatched, the Predacons then arrived,
But Sky Lynx had the power to tan all of their hides!
Their foes now defeated, the team flew to Earth,
Completing their mission and proving their worth.
With the cog now delivered, Metroplex came alive.
He thrashed Trypticon, and the dino took a dive!
Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5

With Grimlock and Blurr, Wheelie listened to Kup,
As he yammered on and on and refused to shut up.
His story was about the Ick-Yaks on Dread,
But when Grimlock mentioned Chaos, Kup lost his head!
Chaos (episode)

When zombie Optimus Prime came under Quintesson control,
Destruction of the Autobots became his primary goal!
He tricked Wheelie and others into a terrible trap
Full of missiles and explosions to turn them to scrap!
But Wheelie survived when Rodimus Prime returned
And left the zombie Optimus behind to be burned.
Dark Awakening

Not long after that, with no assignment or mission,
Wheelie volunteered for a fun competition.
But the timestream was getting all out of place,
And Wheelie got stuck in an unending race!
Forever Is a Long Time Coming

On Earth Wheelie witnessed crimes that were weird,
As multiple landmarks just disappeared!
The Dinobots were suspected, but he didn't buy the hype,
Because the true criminal was an ethnic stereotype!
Thief in the Night

[[Image:Daniel%26wheeliesurpriseparty.jpg|right|250px|thumb|Daniel, we are out of time.
Yet, Wheelie must complete this rhyme!
]]

In his biggest adventure, Wheelie searched for a way,
To deduce the exact date of Magnus's birthday!
He knew finding the truth would be kind of tricky,
So he went and paired up with Daniel Witwicky.
Their search led them straight to a storage asteroid,
Being spied on by Cyclonus (how paranoid!).
Cyclonus took them hostage and made his demands,
But Magnus wouldn't leave them in villainous hands!
When Magnus arrived, he charged straight at his foe,
But as they went at it, little did they know,
That Wheelie snuck past them and pressed the self-destruct,
Which meant if they lingered their deathbeds would be tucked!
So Cyclonus retreated as the asteroid blew up,
And Magnus saved the kids from their monumental screw up!
As it turned out, Magnus didn't know his own birthday,
So their entire adventure was pointless, anyway.
Surprise Party

With other Autobots, Wheelie found Paradron,
A utopian planet that Sandstorm lived on!
Galvatron tried to take it and make it his base,
But gave up when Ultra Magnus blew up the place.
Fight or Flee

On another adventure, Wheelie didn't do much,
But fill out the crowds, standing around and such.
Grimlock's New Brain
[[Image:AutobotsCall.jpg|right|250px|thumb|Our energy was drained.
No jokes have remained.
]]

Wheelie was slightly more active in his next major caper,
As Cybertron was being drained of its energy vapor!
Wheelie opened fire at a Tornedron, a spider bathed in light,
But Tornedron drained his life, leaving Wheelie's body white.
Luckily for Wheelie, Tornedron was defeated,
And his life was restored, death successfully cheated!
Call of the Primitives

Wheelie, Kup, Bumblebee, and Blurr happened on a human's plot,
And when they battled a plagued Superion, Wheelie was shot!
The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1

He was revived by a Quintesson who tried to work faster,
But when Optimus Prime set out, they replaced him with Blaster!
To accomplish this, he built a mechanical creature
The Autobots found out and were quickly deployed,
Vowing not to give up until the beast was destroyed!
Wheelie was among the heroes enlisted to fight,
And helped Rodimus sneak inside the gargantuan blight.
Rodimus blew up the creature with a smartly placed bomb,
By 2011, Wheelie was too petulant to rhyme,
He blamed everything on Chromedome, like, all of the time.
Although a jerk to the core, Wheelie was not all alone,
He hung out with Daniel, and the two were quite danger-prone.
While chilling on Earth, the pair were met with surprise
By the titanic Trypticon with glowing death in his eyes!
The Decepticon gave chase, but Wheelie outsmarted their foe,
Luring him onto a busted bridge, where he slipped and fell below.
They then stowed away on the Trainbots and returned to Cybertron,
To help battle the Decepticons with their (limited) brawn.
Daniel, the wuss, was soon attacked by Tantrum,
So Wheelie had to pound the bull's head like a drum!
Four Warriors Come out of the Sky

Before leaving with Hot Rod to face matters unpleasant,
Blaster bequeathed to Wheelie a very special present.
It was a mix-tape of music he'd composed on his own,
And Wheelie played it after Blaster died in battle alone.
The Mystery of Planet Master

As Hot Rod searched Earth for the Matrix he'd lost,
Kup told Wheelie to believe in him, no matter the cost.
Wheelie brushed off Kup's words, thinking them silly,
And was acting all snarky, at least up until he
Was interrupted by Fortress, who had a better attitude,
And offered to help instead of standing 'round being rude.
Wheelie, however, couldn't help them one whit,
So he went to an arcade with Daniel to complain about it.
He thought himself far more useful than the adults all around him,
And yet even at video games, Daniel proceeded to pound him.
Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime

Next, Blaster's untimely death sent Wheelie into depression.
"No one cares Blaster's gone" was his bitter impression.
But Wheelie was wrong; Rodimus Prime cared quite a bit.
He knew Blaster's death was a mistake and sought to rectify it!
So Blaster was revived as Twincast, much to Wheelie's elation,
And thus began the Great Cassette Operation!
The Great Cassette Operation

Daniel and Wheelie then stowed away on Fortress's battleship
And accompanied the Autobots on their perilous trip
To the Beastformer homeworld, known simply as Beast,
Where the 'Cons were causing trouble (to say only the least).
Wheelie and Daniel then tried to rescue the Beastformer slaves,
But were imprisoned themselves in the dungeon-like caves!
Luckily for Wheelie, the Headmasters were there.
They drove off all the villains and rescued the pair.
Rebellion on Planet Beast

The meteorite Metamorpho then threatened Autobot space,
By warping anything metal in its magnetic embrace!
Only Daniel was safe. Only he could defeat it.
Wheelie cheered Daniel on—he was sure he could beat it!
But Daniel was a crybaby, a big blubbering sack,
So Wheelie chided his buddy and cut him no slack.
Daniel eventually manned up and blew up the rock,
But Wheelie, such a jerk, continued to mock.
Approach of the Demon Meteorite

The Trainbots later invited both Wheelie and Dan
To come visit their birthplace in far-off Japan.
Soon after arriving, Sixshot made some trouble,
Stirring up the Autobots, who countered on the double!
The Headmasters went searching all over the planet,
While Dan and Wheelie went shopping and...well, dammit,
The Trainbots shopped with them, and Chromedome made a fuss,
Causing Daniel to run away crying. (Jeez, what a wuss.)
Terror! The Six Shadows

Wheelie later observed as the Autobots fought,
To reach Vector Sigma first, for if they could not,
The Decepticons would get there, and then there'd be trouble,
Because they'd use Sigma's Cybertonuron to turn the Autobots to rubble!
But they were wrong—Scorponok had a more menacing scheme:
To blow up all of Cybertron! How terribly obscene!
The bombs could not be removed, much to Wheelie's frustration,
Leaving Rodimus to call for the planet's evacuation.
And so Wheelie was forced to watch his planet destruct.
Poor little guy...his day kind of sucked.
Rodimus then departed on an outer space quest,
Leaving Arcee to raise Wheelie (or at least do her best).
Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 2

[[Image:WheelieEnergonGlutton01.jpg|right|250px|thumb|Wheelie likes to eat, drink and be merry,
His favorite cereal is Frankenberry.
]]

Crippled with sorrow over Cybertron's end,
The Autobots threw a party to help their wounds mend.
Wheelie, the hedonist, had too much to drink,
And got drunk and passed out, that little rat-fink!
The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok

Along with Daniel and Spike, Wheelie went to Peru
To prevent the members of the Decepticon crew
From making a volcano blow up sky-high,
Leaving the villagers below to helplessly fry.
As the mountain erupted, they approached in Broadside,
But he couldn't beat the heat, no matter how hard he tried!
So Wheelie tried once again, this time with the Trainbots,
But the heat drove them off too, just like they were lame-bots!
With no options left, they evacuated the town,
Saving the villagers as the magma poured down.
The Dormant Volcano Mysteriously Erupts

On Athenia, Daniel was planting some seeds
And began watering them to tend to their needs.
As Wheelie observed this dull gardening show,
He was shocked when he saw the plant starting to grow!
The plant was a creature from the world of Darhos
That could grow to great heights, turning slimy and gross!
[[Image:WheelieHeadOnFortMax01.jpg|right|250px|thumb|"Excuse me, good sir, I'm beggin' your pardon,
But might Wheelie assist in planting your spice garden?"
]]

Wheelie and Daniel called to Spike for some aid.
Spike then looked to Arcee (since she was their maid).
But they could do nothing, and the plant almost trashed their base,
Luckily, Fortress wiped it out, leaving not even a trace.
Head On!! Fortress Maximus

When Wheelie and Daniel went to Mars on a geological mission,
They found that the red planet was in perilous condition!
Scorponok had planted bombs near the planet's core,
And once they went off, Mars would then be no more!
Then the pair were attacked by the Terrorcon Rippersnapper,
Who easily abducted the duo of lame whippersnappers!
Imprisoned deep underground in a series of caves,
Daniel concocted a scheme to trick the foul knaves.
He staged an argument with Wheelie and even a fake brawl,
Which let him secretly send an Autobot distress call!
The Headmasters then arrived and rescued the youths,
But could not find the time bombs. (What terrible sleuths!)
Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger

Returned to Athenia, Wheelie looked on in fright,
Praying Fortress would survive his terrible fight!
When they found that their leader had been injured severely,
Wheelie cursed to the skies that the Decepticons would pay dearly!
But Wheelie's swearing and screeching couldn't stop what was fated;
Mars was blown into bits and Mega Zarak was created.
Explosion on Mars!! MegaZarak Appears

With the threat of Mega Zarak now looming ahead,
Wheelie admitted to Daniel his feelings of dread.
But Daniel wouldn't hear it; he knew Fortress was stronger,
He'd had enough of Wheelie's crap, and he'd take it no longer.
So with inhuman strength (and overreacting a bit),
He shoved Wheelie into a lake after throwing a fit.
Before Wheelie could crush him with his mighty robot fist,
A flying saucer zoomed past. (Oh my gawd, aliens do exist!)
Daniel thought that the alien might be friend and not foe,
So he tried to use a keyboard to communicate with it and, whoah,
Daniel was completely wrong—about as wrong as you can get.
The alien was Galvatron. (He was off by more than a bit.)
Humiliated by his actions, Daniel started to weep,
Leaving Wheelie no choice but to soothe the little creep.
Return of the Immortal Emperor

When the planet called Sandra sent an SOS into space,
Asking for Energon cubes to save their dying race,
The Autobots, always kindly, agreed to give them their aid,
And Wheelie and Daniel tagged along to see the delivery made.
Then the Decepticons attacked! But Spike knew that they would,
And he set up a small cargo ship just so that they could
Slip away in the battle and deliver the cubes.
Wheelie and Daniel laughed out loud at the Decepticon rubes.
And so the cargo was delivered and Sandra was saved!
Wheelie didn't do much this time, but at least he behaved.
SOS from Planet Sandra

[[Image:WheelieHivePlanet01.jpg|right|250px|thumb|Normally this sort of thing would bring Wheelie to tears,
But he wouldn't touch a bug, not in a million years!
]]

When the Decepticons Apeface and Snapdragon showed up at last,
Brainstorm told Wheelie all about their mysterious past.
He revealed unto Wheelie that they used to be friends,
But when they joined Scorponok, they could not make amends.
Daniel Faces His Biggest Crisis Ever!!

Wheelie and the Autobots then found themselves stuck in a race
To prevent the Decepticons from plundering space.
The villains tried to rob the beehive planet Susei,
But were thwarted when the Autobots got in their way.
Fight to the Death on Planet Hive!!

On the twin planets of Sperity and Toruin,
Galvatron planned to ransack them and bring them to ruin.
As Sperity was attacked for its huge energy stash,
Wheelie was sent to Toruin before he could do anything rash.
And on that barren planet Wheelie made a find:
The people of Sperity had left their old planet behind!
They had taken their energon far away from there,
Which is why Galvatron couldn't find it anywhere!
Eventually, Galvatron was forced to just call it quits,
And the Autobots left the Speritans to start over in the pits.
Battle for Defense of the False Planet

At Video Challenger, Daniel proved very skilled,
But Wheelie's reaction to him was a little less thrilled.
So he challenged the kid to shoot an apple that he held up,
But Daniel shot his arm instead when his aim got fouled up.
A penal colony on Darhos was their next landing point,
So they could rescue some war criminals being slaughtered in the joint.
One of the criminals, though, tried to cut Daniel's neck,
And Wheelie was helpless to stop him, but hey, what the heck.
As it turns out, the criminal wasn't really that bad,
And when he let Daniel go, no one really got mad.
He gave information that helped them unravel a serious knot
And let them defeat MegaZarak. (Newsflash: His chest was his weak spot.)
Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!

[[Image:WheelieHeadFormationFriendship01.jpg|right|250px|thumb|So when Wheelie is horny his eyes glow like the Devil's?
This is unsettling on soooo many levels...
]]

The Decepticons drew them next to the jungle planet Paradise,
Where they were plundering energy and doing things not-so-nice!
So with the Headmasters setting out to solve their enemy's tests,
Daniel and Wheelie met Papika and her voluptuous... face.
Wheelie was smitten quite quickly, and his eyes glowed deep red.
It's best not to imagine the thoughts that went through his head.
After learning to fish, Wheelie tried his best to impress her
By transforming into a car, but his skills proved the lesser
When compared to Papika's; she could talk to beasts large and small,
Making it clear that Wheelie couldn't impress her at all.
Later, the Headmasters won the day, just like they always did,
And Wheelie left Papika behind. (She was out of your league, kid.)
Head Formation of Friendship

On their travels, the Decepticons proved formidable foes,
Having stolen energy from six planets for Lord only knows.
Approaching Pirate Planet, Wheelie spotted something quite freaky:
An old space pirate ship that was battered, damaged and leaky.
And then an awesome adventure immediately began
Involving pirates! And pyramids! Treasure! Clones! And...aw, man.
Wheelie sat the whole thing out, letting Daniel have all the fun.
Of all the adventures to miss, he had to skip out on that one?
Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship

As Highbrow struggled in vain to crack Scorponok's secret code,
Daniel and Wheelie tried to help him cross that long, bumpy road.
Unfortunately, their "help" proved far too insufficient,
And they had to start over from scratch (not very efficient).
Then Sixshot attacked and blew Ultra Magnus into bits,
And Wheelie attended his funeral between crying fits.
Ultra Magnus Dies!!

From the Athenia base, Wheelie watched Spike blow his top;
The 'Cons were ransacking Earth and weren't going to stop!
Soundblaster showed up and began to attack!
Using the gangplank as a springboard, he made his escape,
Then fled into the jungle to live off the land like an ape!
An undetermined time after that, a spoiled brat named Hot Rod,
Went on a space trip with his homies and, well, isn't it odd,
They crash-landed on Quintesson just like Wheelie did?
Except none of them died like the parents of that kid.
No sooner had they landed, they were menaced by danger;
The Quintessons were attacking, but what's even stranger,
Is that Wheelie saved their lives, launching fireballs at the villains,
All the while bustin' mad rhymes that were krunk, phresh and illin'.
Wheelie then led his new friends to his damaged old spaceship,
And Hot Rod began on repairs so they all could make the trip,
Away from Quintesson and they needed to leave soon,
For the Quintessons had returned with some Sharkticon goons!
Hot Rod repaired the spaceship and just barely in time,
And Wheelie escaped with his friends, his health and his rhymes.
The Story of Wheelie, the Wild Boy of Quintesson

With Dr. Fujiyama in tow, the Autobots were quite screwed.
It seems a legion of Nightbirds were in a terrible mood!
With Wheelie injured thanks to a shot in the back,
Scar-faced Daniel realized the villains would cut them no slack.
Prepared to die to stop the evil hordes,
Wheelie told Daniel these few final words:

With a grenade pin pulled, signalling doom,
Daniel ended their friendship with a massive Kaboom!
Centuries passed, with Wars both Great and of Beast,
And once again Unicron was prepared to feast!
An alternate Wheelie was poached from his home,
And locked in the Cauldron where no one could roam.
He would fight other Transformers till death, either one;
The loser would feed his spark to hungry Unicron!
Trapped in a cage, Wheelie was doomed to meet his maker,
However, he was saved by Silverbolt and Trailbreaker!
He escaped with the others, through a portal they were hurled,
Towards perhaps his home universe, a return to his world!

Although Shockwave promised peace to one and all,
Wheelie was smart and for that ruse he did not fall.
He joined a team along with Gnaw, his Sharkticon pet.
Together they strove to unveil Shockwave's evil threat.
Optimus Prime wasted no time in joining their side,
But thought Gnaw was attacking and beat his ugly hide.
Wheelie didn't take this well and thought Prime a brute,
So in retaliation, he bit the Commander's boot!
All that Wheelie ever wanted was to help one and all,
But the bigger, tougher Autobots thought he was too small.
Then finally, one day, Wheelie at last got his due,
And then radiation malfunctioned his ship—Wheelie cried boo-hoo!
Spotlight: Wheelie

Wheelie sent out a transmission, hoping someone might help.
Optimus Prime got the call but completely ignored the whelp!
Spotlight: Optimus Prime

So since no Autobot cared if Wheelie lived or died,
His ship crashed into a planet, and its systems were fried!
The foul creatures of that world towered great heights over him,
And when he tried greeting one, it just tore off his limb!
Wheelie got it back later, so he wasn't totally sunk,
But the place where he found it stunk ten times worse than a skunk.
Alas, poor Wheelie had to dig through poop piles in vain.
And after all of that, transforming caused him great pain.
The trail of a crashed ship was what he next embarked upon,
But he then found that it had been piloted by Decepticons!
An innocent alien was being tortured by Spectro and Spyglass,
So Wheelie swooped in like a superhero and saved the shmuck's ass.
And for that poor guy's sake, Wheelie had saved him just in time,
So the grateful little guy taught Wheelie how to rhyme!
And Varta (the alien) even had a ship that flew!
To get it up and running, Wheelie's power source would do.
Together, the friends both prepared to leave the wretched place,
But their dreams where shattered when Spyglass shot Varta in the face!
The Decepticons took the ship and left Wheelie to his doom,
But he surprised all the 'Cons and made the ship go kaboom!
One year after that, he and Varta had built a home,
And from then on, his fate Wheelie would no longer bemoan!
*In the first commercial where Wheelie did appear, his voice didn't sound anywhere near! Although Frank Welker did the gig, Wheelie's voice came much deeper, dig? In fact — and we're sure you'll all agree — he sounded like the Smurfs' pal Peewit! (That's pronounced "Peewee", you see.)

*Chris Ryall said Wheelie would get a spotlight on his blog. His hide the fans did wish to flog. On Jizai's design Klaus Scherwinski did base, for Wheelie's sake he does not lose face.

*Among those who dislike Wheelie is Floro Dery, his creator—really! Dery's said that of all his Transformers designs, Wheelie's the one that he most maligns—maybe even the only one! Honest, it's true!
* Though Wheelie thought his body looked fine, for AHM he got a redesign! Guido Guidi was not enthused, and in Spotlight: Wheelie it didn't get used.
