Skystalker and Skyhopper begin their plans for conquest, while Big Daddy and the Hot Rod Patrol seek help from the Autobots they abandoned. Meanwhile, Countdown reveals a secret of cosmic proportions.

Synopsis
The returning Skystalker and Skyhopper meet with Shockwave. Skystalker's viciousness is evident, as he details destroying an entire planet simply to generate energy for a radio transmission. Shockwave reveals that he intentionally let the Race Track Patrol go, in hopes that Countdown would attempt to contact them and lead Shockwave to his base. While that attempt failed, it did lead him to the Hot Rod Patrol, and we learn that Shockwave is now following the Hot Rod Patrol in hopes of catching up to Countdown.

Meanwhile, back in Little Iacon, Road Hugger attempts to confront Big Daddy, only to be captured by Chop Shop. The combined Micromaster force attempts to repel the Insecticons, but the Hot Rod Patrol leave, convinced that the Race Track Patrol led the Decepticons to their location. Conversely, the Race Track Patrol decide that it's time to look out for themselves, and leave their fellow Micromasters to their fate.

Back at Countdown's base, Countdown is interrupted from his thoughts by Groundshaker, who wants to intervene in the battle at Little Iacon. Countdown orders him to stand down, which infuriates the impetuous Groundshaker. Groundshaker accuses Countdown of not being an equal partner in their efforts, and reveals that he is aware of Countdown's attempts to have him transferred off the mission. Countdown apologizes, and reveals that he has a reason for not interfering yet; he recovered a Golden Disk during their mission to Paradron. The Golden Disk is full of bizarre information about Cybertron, explaining such mysteries as why Cybertronians have passenger compartments designed for smaller beings, and that the ultimate role of Cybertronians is to establish peace in the universe. Such knowledge could be deadly if it passed into the wrong hands, and Countdown has appointed himself guardian of the disk for that reason. Groundshaker then suggests that choosing when to fight and who to help goes against the entire point of the disk's teachings.

Meanwhile, Venom and the other Insecticons are looking for the Hot Rod Patrol. Venom attempts to turn the Decepticon Micromasters against their brethren. Barricade accepts on behalf of the entire Race Track Patrol, a move which upsets Motorhead. Blaze Master is shot unconscious by Barrage when he tells Venom where to stick it, and left to be tended to by Free Wheeler and Fixit.

Back at Decepticon Headquarters, Skystalker and Skyhopper plot against Shockwave, who they feel is just as blind and ignorant as Megatron and Starscream before him. They unload a crate full of explosives, suggesting they have a sinister plot in mind.

While all this is going on, the Hot Rod Patrol rush back to Autobase, hoping to warn Autobot command of the goings-on in Little Iacon. Unfortunately, the Battle Patrol are on watch duty, and send the Hot Rod Patrol packing, humiliating them in the process. However, Stakeout manages to slip them a cache of weapons, and mentions that the Battle Patrol destroyed the Hot Rod Patrol's reputation with command. Big Daddy then decides to go find the only other Autobot that might be able to fix the situation in Little Iacon.

The Insecticons continue their search for the Hot Rod Patrol, with a group of Decepticon Micromasters in tow. Barricade reveals to Motorhead that he has no intention of sticking with the Decepticons for long, but for now it is the only way to stay under the radar and out of harm's way.

Meanwhile, Shockwave is running diagnostics on Blitzwing, and reveals that his form is mutating, growing extra parts, almost as if he were evolving. Shockwave then orders Blitzwing to guard him while he recharges. The process is disturbed, however, by Skyhopper and Skystalker, who quickly best the larger Decepticons due to their extreme lack of fuel.

The Race Track Patrol return to Decepticon HQ to find the entire Decepticon army preparing for war. They are summoned to Shockwave's chambers for a private conference, where it is revealed that Skystalker has overthrown Shockwave, and has assumed leadership of the Decepticons!
Notes
* This issue takes its title from the seventh album by Bad Religion.
* It is patently obvious that Rob Ruffolo was drawing the Micromasters from model sheets that did not include their backs, as the back detail on most characters is generic, at best. This is especially obvious in the sequence where Skyhopper is unloading the crate of explosives.
* The password to get into Iacon is "V-Sigma-19-84." Very clever.
* Countdown claims the Golden Disk gives a solid explanation as to why the Micromasters have modes that appear so similar to Earth vehicle designs. Presumably this also relates to Blitzwing's mutating into having an Earth mode.
* The letters page is filled by a press release about how Dreamwave collaborated with Hooligan Skateboards to produce one of the previous issue's covers.
* The "Wavelengths" page has poetry from the desk of Erik Sander.
* Big Daddy's line, "There's trouble—big trouble—in Little Iacon", is a reference the title of the John Carpenter film, Big Trouble In Little China.
Trypticon decimates the Autobots, but Grimlock has more important concerns.

Synopsis
Prowl's team of Autobots scramble, overwhelmed by attacks from the talkative Trypticon. Prowl orders the Autobots to split up, but Trypticon is able to hunt his prey with his impressive arsenal. Prowl sends a desperate radio message for help to anyone who might hear it. But when Hound receives the message, he can only bring a few Autobot reinforcements.

The Dynobots receive this message and debate with their leader, Grimlock, over whether they should respond to it or not. Grimlock maintains that it's more important to investigate the affairs of Jetfire and Shockwave.

The two aforementioned brains meet together, and pool their available data. But before they can use it to find out the truth, the two come under attack from the Chaos Trinity. Bludgeon uses dark science to disable Shockwave, and Jetfire's mind is locked into a trance by Mindwipe. The three start to take their bounty home, but as soon as they wonder where Grimlock is, the angry Dynobot gets the drop on them. Grimlock quickly disables the three. Jetfire thanks Grimlock for the rescue, but Grimlock attacks Jetfire too.

The rest of the Dynobots assist Prowl's Autobots against Trypticon. Eventually, all their skid plates are saved when the behemoth is summoned away.

Grimlock attacks Jetfire, who only dodges. Grimlock ignores any reasoning Jetfire spouts. Grimlock explains that it was he who summoned Trypticon away so he might save the Autobots. But before Grimlock can finish executing Jetfire, The Fallen arrives.

How is Megatron going back in time to save the Seacons any different to Wreck-Gar going back in time and saving Bumblebee? Or the future Autobots going back in time during Time Wars and helping to save everyone. Perhaps the timeline where Galvatron succeeded was supposed to the correct one and defeating him changed the timeline completely (but then Time Wars is the biggest mess of errors and confusion that Transformers has produced in its 25 years).

Megatron saving the Seacons doesn't seem that big of a deal that Prowl makes out to be really.

:Time travel rules are not consistent in the TF world, or for that matter in a lot of Marvel comics. That said for most of the previous Marvel UK stories there has been an implicit consistency that time travel into the past automatically creates an alternate timeline and a time traveller's actions have no bearer upon their own timeline. (This is the basic rule operated in much of the Marvel Universe, albeit with some exceptions.) Time Wars broadly follows this but Aspects of Evil shows the future timeline changed - perhaps the damage to the rift meant the Autobots arrived home in a different timeline.
:Flashback! is the first time I can think of where the timetravel is into the past of regular events so maybe the change would have had a noticeable effect. Alternatively we've only really Prowl's word and Megatron's assumption that the past can be changed - maybe both are operating on a misunderstanding and there was never any danger in the first place? Timrollpickering 17:06, 31 December 2009 (EST)
:: Kup, Hot Rod and Blurr travelled back in time to save the past from a time-traveller. Wreck-Gar travelled back and saved Bumblebee from a time-traveller. The Seacons were not destroyed by a time-traveller and so that action was supposed to happen in that timeline. The other examples were not supposed to happen. Skywarp got destroyed and Bumblebee became Goldbug happened anyway but differently (see the U.S. comics). Raise and the other Sixtrain Train Team members used their combined "Red Mode" to drive the Decepticon Sixwing from an excavation site at the base of a dormant volcano. When the Micromasters began their own excavation there, Raise's precognition pointed them in the right direction to unearth two pieces of Cybertronian metal... and put a timely end to Gran Arm's complaining. The Train Team was forced to re-form Sixtrain when Sixwing returned, intent on stealing the prizes. {{storylink|The Transformers: Micromaster#Part 5: Sixtrain! Activate Red Mode!!|Sixtrain! He has a "peg" connector tab in the back of his train mode allows him to pull any fellow Micromaster train or footplate-weapon with a "socket" connector. When Sparkplug is kidnapped, it's up to Gears and Spider-Man to save him.

Synopsis
The Decepticons bring Sparkplug Witwicky to their fortress and Megatron deliberates internally on Starscream's loyalty. The Decepticons demand that Sparkplug create a method to convert gas into fuel compatible with their forms. A Korean War vet, Sparkplug equates his capture to his time spent as a POW in Korea and refuses, until he's forcefully persuaded.

Back at the Witwicky garage, Buster and his friends are wondering what to do next. Optimus Prime orders everyone back to the Ark for fuel and repairs, inviting Buster along the ride. When they arrive, he marvels at the size of the Autobots' headquarters.

Soundwave, Rumble and Starscream are out stealing components for Sparkplug's fuel conversion process, and their crime spree attracts attention from the press and world governments. As camera crews and the military surround the Decepticon fortress, photojournalist Peter Parker decides to switch to his alter ego Spider-Man in order to get some better shots of the action. He runs into Gears, and after a short tussle Gears proves that he's a good guy when he saves a crowd of humans from getting squashed flat by a tank. The Autobots team up with Spider-Man to break through the line of reporters and soldiers, and an all-out battle breaks out between the Decepticons and the Autobots.

Meanwhile, Gears and Spider-Man are making their way into the fortress. After a short scrap with Ravage, Gears and Spider-Man break in and steal Sparkplug from under Megatron's nose. The Decepticon leader shoots out the floor beneath them, and while Spider-Man saves Sparkplug, Gears' weight breaks the web Spider-Man tried to save him with and he plummets to the earth below.

On their return to the Ark, Buster and Sparkplug are reunited and the Autobots say goodbye to Spider-Man. Ratchet brings Gears back to a functional level and he informs the Autobots that the Decepticons got what they wanted out of Sparkplug. Dad, say it ain't so!
Notes
* Advertised as part 3 in a four-issue limited series.
* The narrator points out that when Megatron, Soundwave, and his cassettes transform, they enlarge by hundreds of times, but he doesn't elaborate.
* As one of the issues written during the period when the series was explicitly in the mainstream Marvel Universe, this installment features a guest appearance by Spider-Man in his black symbiote costume, complete with a footnote that dates the story as occurring before the issue of his own title in which he disposed of the suit.
* A much shorter guest appearance by U.S. 1 can be seen in the background as the Autobots drive down the highway.
* Many characters (Ratchet and Bumblebee being among the more prominent examples) are suddenly drawn to match their animation models after two issues of being drawn with toy-based designs.
* Ratchet's repair sled speaks! Ratchet himself speaks immediately afterwards, making it seem less likely that this was merely a misattributed speech balloon.
* Amongst the military vehicles seen in this issue, the MOBAT and the Wolverine from the G.I. Joe series appear repeatedly.
* Although he doesn't appear in the cover art proper despite his prominent role in the story, Gears does get the cover corner box, the only time in the US series that a character not designated as Autobot or Decepticon leader at the time of the comic gets in the cover box.
* In 2007's "Man and Machine, Part Four", Spider-Man web-swings around Megatron in a visual homage to the cover of this issue.
* When IDW Publishing released the original Transformers comics onto the Digital Comics Service, this comic was missing from the listings. Hhhhmm, I wonder why that could be? Maybe Peter Parker can tell me?

Errors
* Page 2: Rumble's name is not called out by the narrator when listing who is transforming in the panel.
* Page 5: Ironhide is colored like... uh... uh... well, he's got blue arms, blue and gray legs, and a white windshield frame. Windcharger is colored white and blue instead of red and gray. (Coincidence!) The silhouettes behind Optimus don't match anyone from the Autobot ranks.
* Page 8: Ratchet is colored with a red crest, shoulders, and legs. They should all be white. For the rest of Ratchet's appearances in this issue, he's colored with a blue windshield frame and red shoulders; it happens consistently enough to suggest that it was an earlier color scheme rather than a flat-out error.
* Page 9: Shockwave is shown hanging out with the Decepticons. Next issue will reveal that he's still buried in rock at this point.
* Page 11: Skywarp's jet mode is colored as if his cockpit canopy extended all the way back to his tail fins. When he lands on the Air Force jet, his wings are missing.
* Page 15: As the Autobots transform, Sunstreaker is colored red instead of yellow. In the next panel, Cliffjumper's head is colored yellow instead of red.
* Page 16: A blue-colored Gears is drawn behind Brawn, even though Gears is off somewhere else with Spider-Man. It should probably be Frenzy, who shows up in the next panel.
* Page 17: Gears' legs can't seem to decide what color they are.
* Page 18: Panel 1: Megatron is drawn instead of Soundwave. Amusingly, the thought bubbles almost work for Megatron.
* Page 19: Soundwave is drawn with a strange, enormous cannon attached to his arm, rather than his usual weapon.
* Page 21: Brawn and Cliffjumper are both white and blue instead of their normal color schemes. Sunstreaker is blue, white and red, and has the wrong head, AND is missing most of his left arm.
* Page 22:
** Panel 3: Optimus is drawn with strange huge conjoined goggles instead of his usual separate eyes.
** Panel 4: Cliffjumper is still white and blue, while Hound is colored red and white instead of green. Ratchet's repair bay is colored red instead of white.
** Panel 5: Optimus's head is tiny!

References
* Although it is later established that Transformers existed outside the regular Marvel universe, there is a footnote indicating this story takes place before Spider-Man #258 (when he learns the black costume is a living symbiote).
* "O" calls the Autobots "rejects from a George Lucas film".
* "O" compares the Autobot's Ark to Noah's ark.
