:''Ultra Magnus is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Transformers Animated]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:UltraLightning.jpg|right|thumb|300px|He can deal with you. He'd just rather not.]]

'''Ultra Magnus''' is [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime's]] superior officer. He is also the [[Supreme Commander]] of the Autobots and the leader of the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]]. Ultra Magnus is everything you could hope for in a leader; fair, decisive, powerful and not afraid to get his hands dirty. While he is not slow in delivering criticism, he's as willing to dole out praise where it's deserved. Originally, he seems to have had a low opinion of Optimus Prime, but after seeing the young leader in action, he recognizes accomplishment when he sees it.

His earth altmode is an 8-wheeled [[Wikipedia:Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck|Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck]]. It doesn't exactly help him fit in.

He has a hammer the size of a lamp post that helps him deal with things. A handy weapon, you say? It can also call upon storm clouds and shoot lightning.

Like [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]], he is a veteran of the [[Great War]].

During the Great War, an Autobot [[Arcee (Animated)|intelligence agent]] was in danger of falling into [[Decepticon]] hands. Ultra Magnus sent Ratchet to recover her so the access codes she held in her databanks couldn't be used to deal a devastating blow to the Autobots. {{storylink|The Thrill of the Hunt}}

Long after the end of the war, an Autobot Academy washout named Optimus Prime attempted to contact Magnus to report that 1) he and his maintenance ship crew had discovered the legendary [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]], and 2) they were now being pursued by Decepticons. Though nearly denied by [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]], Optimus Prime got patched through to Ultra Magnus to report on the discovery. Magnus still didn't believe the Decepticons would pose much of a threat, but agreed to dispatch some ships to escort [[Autobot ship (Animated)|Optimus' ship]]. He warned Prime not to pull any heroics, as it wasn't in Prime's programming.

This, of course, would all go out the window once it was discovered that the Decepticons in pursuit were in [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]'s [[Nemesis (Animated)|flagship]], at which point the Autobots decided that they should book it. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}

[[Image:Eliteguardleaveshuttle.jpg|left|thumb|200px|thumb|Airport management, the FAA and the airlines—they're all cheats and liars. All right, let's get outta here.]]
Upon landing on [[Earth]], Magnus seemed to trust Sentinel Prime's judgment regarding the planet. This might well have been because the big blue lug wouldn't let anyone else get a word in edgewise. Hearing that the AllSpark had been supposedly destroyed, Magnus announced that he intended to take these charges very seriously and investigate. Adopting the vehicle mode suggested by his subordinate, the Autobot Supreme Commander proceeded to drive around downtown [[Detroit]] as a massive military vehicle. Smooth.

[[Image:Ani Ultra Magnus alt.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Not just heavy duty. ''Ultra'' heavy duty.]]
However, once he was led to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]], he had to bail out that same subordinate, who had angered the [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobot]]s. After a distress call from [[Sumdac Systems]] was answered, he turned the tide in a battle against malfunctioning police droids. As Optimus Prime acted bravely, loyally, and with sound tactical judgment during that incident, he commended the wayward Academy bot, simultaneously putting Sentinel in his place, much to Sentinel's chagrin. Seeing evidence that the AllSpark indeed still existed scattered about the city, he settled in for the long haul. {{storylink|The Elite Guard}}

Ultra Magnus was unable to come to the press meeting, so Sentinel Prime went in his place. Supreme Commander Magnus wanted a report about the reported Decepticon activity, and about Sentinel "losing his head". Optimus covered for Sentinel, stretching the truth in front of him. Magnus left to report to [[Cybertron Command]]. {{storylink|The Return of the Headmaster}}

Upon his return, Magnus received a report from [[Ironhide (Animated)|Ironhide]] that there was an increased amount of Decepticon activity at the galaxy's rim, particularly targeting [[space bridge]]s. Ironhide was unable to report further, as the Decepticon attack destroyed the transmitter. Since Magnus had still not seen any evidence of Decepticon activity on Earth, he reasoned that resources were better dedicated to the defence of Cybertron and its colonies, and thus ordered Optimus & his crew to prepare for departure.

Taking Optimus Prime aside, he expressed concern that should the general population come to believe that Megatron was still alive, it would incite a panic and embolden the Decepticons. Optimus objected, but Magnus felt that easing the concerns of the civilians was their duty to Cybertron. Optimus continued to drag his heels until Magnus was alerted to AllSpark activity on a commuter train. Ordering Sentinel to remain behind to keep an eye on Optimus, he left with Jazz to investigate.

After his hammer proved insufficient to dislodge the AllSpark shard, he was ultimately saved by the insubordinate Optimus and his crew, particularly the intervention of [[Sari Sumdac|the little organic]] with the [[Sari Sumdac's key|AllSpark-empowered key]]. He was about to reprimand Optimus, but evidence of Decepticon activity quite literally fell into his lap as Starscream was knocked from the sky. Blasted away by the flying traitor, Magnus was repaired by Ratchet and Sari while the remainder of the Autobots brought Starscream into custody. Once all was said and done, he yet again praised Optimus's decision-making skills and scolded Sentinel for insisting that things be "by the book".<ref>This is quickly becoming a theme.</ref> He also decided that while he was needed to direct the war effort on Cybertron, the Decepticons on Earth had to be dealt with as well. Therefore, Ultra Magnus and the Elite Guard left for Cybertron, while Optimus Prime's crew remained on Earth to locate the AllSpark shards and capture the Decepticons. {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}

{{spoiler|A Fistful of Energon}}
Ultra Magnus later witnessed Starscream's escape from his ship, and contacted Optimus Prime to inform him of the breakout. {{storylink|A Fistful of Energon}}
'''Ratchet''' is the Autobots' Chief Medical Officer. If something's broke, he can fix it. Ratchet is known for his irreverent bedside manner; he loves having a good time, and his party-loving nature has given him a dry wit. He attaches little importance to his job, though this does not detract from the quality of his work, and believes he is expendable. [[Optimus_Prime_(G1)|Optimus Prime]] has trouble convincing Ratchet that this is far from the truth.

Although he's a healer, Ratchet often finds himself on the front lines of combat and, on occasion, the last hope the Autobots have. These pressures are sometimes too much for him to handle, but Ratchet ultimately never gives up.
Shortly after the Transformers arrived on Earth, [[Sparkplug Witwicky]] suffered a heart attack, so Ratchet drove Sparkplug and his son [[Buster Witwicky|Buster]] to the hospital. It was during this leave that [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] freed himself from his four-million-year sleep and completely wiped out the fuel-deprived Autobot forces with one blast. {{storylink|The Last Stand}}

Ratchet soon discovered, to his horror, that he was the last Autobot still functional on Earth, up against the entire Decepticon army. Covertly invading the ''Ark'', he learned that even the mighty [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] had fallen. However, Prime's head, though detached, still functioned, and the Autobot Commander told Ratchet that he must rise up to meet this challenge. Ratchet did not believe he could; he was a doctor, not a warrior (damnit, Jim). {{storylink|Warrior School!}}

[[Image:Ratchetwarriorschool.jpg|right|thumb|The more you know!™]]
Still, Ratchet tried. Shockwave had returned in full strength and deposed the mighty [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. In his weakened state, Megatron could not hope to defeat Shockwave and reclaim his leadership, but Ratchet approached him with a possible solution. Ratchet knew how Shockwave had fallen 4 million years ago, and struck a deal: If Ratchet could defeat Shockwave, Megatron would relinquish Decepticon control of the ''Ark'' and its wrecked Autobot inhabitants.

Ratchet journeyed to the [[Savage Land]], where the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] had fought Shockwave to a stalemate, leaving all dormant in a tar pit prison. He dug up the Dinobots and repaired them. Soon after, he met with Megatron on a snowy ski slope and announced that he had fulfilled his half of the bargain; Shockwave was defeated. Megatron, of course, went back on his part of the deal and threatened to kill Ratchet. Ratchet declared that he knew all along Megatron would not hold his end of the bargain and admitted that he had not, in fact, defeated Shockwave. The Dinobots sprung up out of the snow surrounding Megatron and fought him, but did not succeed. Megatron now stood alone, triumphant, mocking Ratchet and his lack of a warrior's edge. With nothing to lose, Ratchet charged Megatron, but he was ineffectual. However, the charge had loosened the ground on which Megatron stood, and the Decepticon leader fell off the cliff side and disappeared. {{storylink|Repeat Performance!}}

''On their return trip to the ''Ark'', Ratchet helped educate the Dinobots about human/Autobot relations by telling them the story of a recent battle with the Decepticons at a hydroelectric dam. {{storylink|Decepticon Dam-Busters!}} When they arrived, Ratchet and the Dinobots found the ''Ark'' defended by [[Guardian#omega-class|Guardian]], an Autobot combat drone which had been reprogrammed by Shockwave. Ratchet rescued the Dinobots from the powerful drone by remembering and exploiting one of its few weaknesses, an access port which could admit a fine laser. Ratchet then began the task of repairing the Autobots, placing priority on those whose command skills would be useful. This put him at odds with Dinobot leader [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], who felt that the fallen Dinobot [[Swoop (G1)|Swoop]] should be repaired first. {{storylink|The Wrath of Grimlock!}}''

''When Prowl devised a plan to use the Matrix to create an army of monstrous Autobot warriors, debate over the plan's ethics threatened to divide the Autobots. Ratchet remained neutral and asked Optimus Prime to step in and provide guidance. {{storylink|Crisis of Command!}}''

''Ratchet and Wheeljack collaborated on a Transformer-sized robotic suit, to be used by [[Buster Witwicky]] in battle. Optimus Prime was unamused. {{storylink|Robot Buster!}}''

[[Image:Ratchetmechanic.jpg|left|thumb|Such irony.]]

After the destruction of Optimus Prime, Ratchet was not able to repair him. Unable to deal with his failure, Ratchet wandered off on his own during Optimus's funeral. Ratchet decided that rather than moping, he should concern himself with the other damaged Autobots under his care, so he headed towards a junkyard to look for spare parts he could use. However, he was abducted in vehicle mode by the [[Mechanic]] and his accomplice [[Juan]] when the two thieves were found by the police. Ratchet revealed himself when they arrived at the Mechanic's hideout, but the Mechanic froze Ratchet with his own surgical weapons and headed for the ''Ark'', intent on finding technology that would ensure he would never be threatened by the police again. When he had unfrozen, Ratchet followed the human back to the ''Ark'', but was defeated by his own surgical tools. But using pieces he took from the junkyard, he repaired [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], and the appearance of the police car frightened the Mechanic away. The Mechanic escaped with Ratchet's tools and the [[Power Booster Rod]]. {{storylink|Funeral for a Friend!}}

When an [[Underbase]]-powered [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] decimated the Earthbound Autobot forces, Ratchet was left with the monumental task of repairing them. During a period of work-induced stress, he began to hallucinate visions of his patients attacking him and accusing him of being worthless. It was during this time that the Decepticon [[Sports Car Patrol]], posing as Autobots, offered to help transport Ratchet to Cybertron, where he could have access to new medical technology that had been created during his 4-million-year absence on Earth. He and three of the Sports Car Patrol took the bodies of [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], [[Jazz]], and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Goldbug]] with him, though Ratchet was curious why [[Blackjack]] stayed behind on the ''Ark''. Ratchet's concerns were answered when, upon arrival on Cybertron, he saw standing before him the believed-to-be-deceased Megatron, who had orchestrated the entire scheme. {{storylink|Back from the Dead}}

Megatron brought Ratchet the remains of Starscream, demanding Ratchet repair the Air Commander while Blackjack held the ''Ark'' and its medical bay inhabitants hostage. Ratchet agreed, and he used [[Pretender]] technology to repair Starscream while secretly repairing Grimlock, Jazz, and Goldbug as well. After Pretender Starscream was sent to Earth, Megatron sought out Ratchet to kill him, but Ratchet had his own Pretenders ready. {{storylink|The Resurrection Gambit!}} Ratchet sprung Grimlock, Jazz, and Bumblebee (Ratchet preferred Bumblebee's original form) on Megatron, but Megatron and his Micromasters were too powerful for them. The Pretenders and Micromasters' battle wandered outside the Decepticon base, and Ratchet was left alone. Sacrificing his life, Ratchet warped the bombs Blackjack had put on the ''Ark'' into the Decepticon base in an attempt to kill both himself and Megatron. Megatron tried to escape through the warp portal, but Ratchet tackled him, and the base exploded. {{storylink|Skin Deep}}

[[Image:Megs ratch.jpg|right|thumb|Ratchet to the left, Megatron to the right—stuck in the middle with you.]]

Optimus Prime was devastated by the loss of Ratchet. {{storylink|Yesterday's Heroes!}} He assigned the detective [[Nightbeat (G1)|Nightbeat]] to investigate Ratchet's death, and Nightbeat hypothesized that Ratchet could possibly still be alive. There was an initial blast which could have knocked Ratchet into the portal and into [[unspace]], a netherworld between the warp portal's starting and ending points. A probe was sent to retrieve him, and it succeeded—but it also brought back Megatron, who was fused with Ratchet as a single, monstrous being. {{storylink|Eye of the Storm}} The Ratchet/Megatron creature rampaged through the ''Ark'', wounding several Autobots, but Optimus Prime would not let them harm it. This put Optimus Prime in an awkward position: Was the life of Ratchet worth the possible loss of his other troops? The creature fought his way into the engine rooms and began tearing stuff apart, and Prime's choice was made for him: The creature must be stopped. Prime fought Ratchet/Megatron to a standstill, and, alarmingly, the part that was Ratchet took control and pulled Prime's gun to his own forehead, pleading for the Autobot Commander to put him out of his misery. In an unpopular decision, Optimus Prime ordered [[Fixit]] to separate Megatron and Ratchet, even if it meant saving Megatron. Bonded at a molecular level, neither could survive without the other, even when separated. {{storylink|The Price of Life!}}

[[Image:Ratchetjollies.jpg|250px|left|thumb|Holy crap.]]

Separated by Fixit, they remained in stasis on the ''Ark'' until Grimlock and his [[Nucleon]]-revived Dinobots found the ''Ark'' abandoned during the Transformers' battle with [[Unicron]]. They filled the entire medical bay chambers with Nucleon, not aware that Megatron lay there in storage. {{storylink|The Void! While Galvatron and Megatron teamed up on Shockwave, Starscream went to check on any other possible survivors in the medical bay. He found Ratchet, whose mind was still connected to Megatron's, and Starscream fought the confused Autobot easily. However, when Starscream mused that Ratchet was no fun to kill, Ratchet became enraged and defeated him in a berserker state. Determined to end what he had started, Ratchet blew up the ''Ark'' as it was approaching Earth's orbit, sending all four Decepticons and himself to a supposed death.<ref>Except all the Decepticons eventually turn up alive, bar Shockwave.</ref> {{storylink|A Savage Circle}}
''Ratchet was present at the Ark in 2003 when [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] announced his plans for a fully-functional transforming fortress known as [[Autobot City]]. {{storylink|Ark Duty}}''
Ratchet served as chief medical officer of the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' on its mission to seek out new energy sources to fuel the Autobot struggle against the Decepticons. When the ''Ark'' was boarded by the crew of the ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]'', Ratchet attempted to defend his ship by attacking [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]], but was thrown into a computer console for his trouble. Ratchet and the other Transformers were forced into emergency [[stasis lock]] when the out-of-control ''Ark'' crashed into a volcano on a [[Earth|primitive planet]]. Four million years later, the volcano erupted, activating [[Teletraan I]] to rebuild the Autobots and Decepticons. Ratchet was rebuilt into a human-scaled ambulance. After [[Hound]] and [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper's]] failed scouting mission ended in a counterattack by [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]], Ratchet arrived with [[Hauler]] to pull the damaged Hound out of a ravine. Once he finished repairing Hound, Ratchet was part of the battlegroup sent to stop the Decepticons stealing the oil from an off-shore oil rig. However, he did not fare well in this battle. {{Storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 1}}

After the Autobots saved their new human friends, Spike and Sparkplug Witwicky, from the oil rig fire, Ratchet repaired [[Huffer]]'s damaged arm in the repair bay outside the ''Ark.'' {{Storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 2}} When Optimus Prime was caught in the explosion of the [[Ruby Crystal Mines of Burma]], Ratchet helped the Autobot leader recover, but evidently his skills as a medic were not required, as Prime was totally fine after transforming back into robot mode. Soon afterwards, Ironhide was shot by Skywarp, so Ratchet carried the old-timer back to base for repairs. {{Storylink|More Than Meets the Eye, Part 3}}

During an ill-fated Autobot attempt to defend the local solar power plant, Starscream managed to shoot the guns out of Ratchet and Prowl's hands. Smarting from the concussion blast, Ratchet called for the Autobots to fall back. However, Ironhide once again managed to get himself damaged while saving Optimus Prime. Ironhide objected to Ratchet and Sparkplug's diagnosis of his damage, but Ratchet warned him against backtalk or the medic would short out Ironhide's mouth circuit. To prevent further argument, he shut down Ironhide, cutting off the warrior in mid-sentence. After the Autobots were led into a trap by a reprogrammed Bumblebee, Ratchet discovered the tampering done by the Decepticons and restored the little Autobot. {{Storylink|Transport to Oblivion}}

In addition to patching up his fellow warriors whenever someone (usually [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]) had roughed them up a little, Ratchet was also in charge of helping whenever [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] had another invention in the making. Working together, the two Autobots designed and built the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] more or less from scratch—and did a pretty good job, considering they were working with substandard materials. {{Storylink|S.O.S. Dinobots}} Ratchet was also responsible for saving [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime's]] life, performing a daring surgery on the Autobot leader while subjected to attacks by [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]]. {{Storylink|Divide and Conquer}} When [[Skyfire (G1)|Skyfire]] refused to assassinate the Autobots and was gunned down by [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], it was Ratchet who reconstructed the giant Decepticon scientist and gave him the chance to reform. {{Storylink|Fire in the Sky}}

In 1985, after Spike was injured during a battle with the Decepticons, Ratchet carried their injured human friend to the metro hospital. While Spike's mind was transferred into the [[Autobot X]] experimental body Sparkplug had made earlier, Ratchet repaired the battle-damaged Bumblebee, but was forced to cut short his repairs after Spike went on the rampage in his new body. After Spike's mind was returned to his real body, Ratchet theorised that he could probably fix the problems in the mind-transfer process, but thought it was better left alone. {{Storylink|Autobot Spike}} When Megatron captured [[Gears]] and unwittingly threatened the destruction of the Earth with his [[Solar Needle]], Ratchet totally fly-kicked Thundercracker. After the Decepticons retreated, Ratchet and Wheeljack argued over which wire they had to disconnect to stabilize the [[Sun]]. However, nobody seemed to notice that he and Gears sounded exactly the same. {{Storylink|Changing Gears}}

In the year 2005, while piloting a secret mission to [[Autobot City]] in order to gather a stockpile of [[energon]] from Earth, Ratchet and his allies were attacked by Megatron. Ratchet and Ironhide returned fire, but they were both shot repeatedly and left for dead on the floor of the shuttle as the Decepticons continued with their attack on Autobot City. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

Ratchet's body was evidently recovered for interment, as his grave was housed in the interstellar Autobot mausoleum. Sadly, it was not Ratchet's fate to rest in peace; along with the mausoleum itself, Ratchet's remains were later plunged into a sun as a side-effect of a [[Quintesson]] plot. {{Storylink|Dark Awakening}}
Along with [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]], Ratchet helped implant [[Chip Chase|Chip Chase's]] consciousness into the lifeless Prowl-2 shell when Prowl's spark was lost in [[subspace]].
8.2 million years ago, Ratchet accompanied [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]], and [[Red Alert (G1)|Red Alert]] to the [[Sub-Orbital District]] of [[Iacon]], which had been devastated after [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] activated the planetary engines.<ref>[[The War Within issue 2]]</ref> He found no life signs in the entire blast radius. {{storylink|The War Within}}

600,000 years later, Ratchet remained with the Prowl-led Autobots after Optimus Prime disappeared in a [[space bridge]] explosion. He repaired [[Skids (G1)|Skids]] after the theoretician was damaged in a battle with [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]].<ref>[[Confrontation|The War Within: The Dark Ages issue 5]]</ref> {{storylink|The War Within: The Dark Ages}}
Ratchet was among the crew of the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' when it crashed on [[Earth]], and awoke in 1984 to battle the [[Decepticons]]. After years of fighting, Ratchet and the other Autobots took part in [[Operation Liberation]] in 1998, a joint human/Autobot operation that defeated and captured the Earth-bound Decepticons. However, the ''[[Ark II]]'', which was meant to convey the Autobots, the captured Decepticons, and a number of humans back to Cybertron, was sabotaged by General [[Robert Hallo]], sending Ratchet and his comrades to the bottom of the [[Arctic Ocean]]. Years later, Ratchet was brought back by the sinister [[Lazarus]], who had recovered and reprogrammed a number of Transformers for his nefarious ends. However, when [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] broke free of Lazarus's control, he hooked up Ratchet and a number of other Autobots to a device that generated a deadly "metal virus". Soon after, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] detached Ratchet and the others from the doomsday device. {{storylink|Prime Directive}}

Repaired by his comrades, Ratchet took part in a battle in the [[Canada|Canadian]] Arctic with the Decepticons over possession of a crashed spacecraft containing [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]]. As the Autobots overwhelmed their foes, [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] arrived on the planet and gave them an ultimatum: Surrender and return to a newly unified Cybertron, or be destroyed. The Autobots returned to the ''Ark'', where Optimus Prime assigned Ratchet to a [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]]-led team that was to remain on Earth. {{storylink|Brothers' Burden}} After Shockwave's lieutenant, [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]], took Prime and others back to Cybertron, Ratchet and [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] remained at the ''Ark'' as Jazz, [[Brawn (G1)|Brawn]], and [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]] attempted to locate Scourge and his ship. {{storylink|Cold War}}

When [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and a team of Decepticons arrived on Earth, they attacked the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s inhabitants, wanting the starship for themselves. In the initial assault, the Autobots managed to take [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]], his cassettes, [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]], and [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] prisoner, but eventually all the Autobots but Ratchet and Brawn were defeated by the mighty [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]]. Expecting a supply ship from Cybertron later that day, Ratchet and Brawn slipped past the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s berserk defense systems in order to contact the ship and warn them. Unfortunately, Bruticus arrived soon after, and they were forced to destroy the ''Ark'' rather than let the Decepticons have access to [[Teletraan I]]. {{storylink|Night of the Combaticons}} Before the battle could escalate further, it was interrupted by the arrival of [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]], a [[Seeker]] seemingly powered by supernatural forces. An uneasy truce was formed between the small group of Autobots and Decepticons, and Ratchet begrudgingly put his medic skills to work on Starscream. {{storylink|Skyfire (comic issue)|Skyfire}}
Ratchet later aided in the construction of Autobot City. {{storylink|The Route of All Evil}}
In an alternate timeline, a newly formed [[human]] terrorist organization named [[Cobra]] uncovered the ''Ark'' buried in a dormant volcano. Finding two armies of giant, transformable robots, they repurposed these aliens for their own use, rebuilding them so they could reconfigure into various Cobra-designed vehicles. Ratchet was reprogrammed and rebuilt into a Cobra HISS tank. [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was able to break free from his reprogramming and awaken the other Transformers, and, with the help of the human anti-terrorist task-force [[G.I.Joe]], he defeated Megatron and Cobra. An alliance between the Autobots and the United States government was formed.

A malfunction in [[Teletran 3]] sent dozens of Transformers into various points in history, an act which, if not reversed, would result in a perpetual holocaust to be unleashed across [[Earth]]. To retrieve one Transformer and bring him home, a team of Cobra and G.I. Joe agents were sent 15 years into an apocalyptic future where [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] and his Decepticons ruled. The remaining cyborged humans had formed a resistance which had only one Autobot warrior who stood between them and utter annihilation. The last Autobot alive, Ratchet had grown bitter and battle-hardened after years of guerrilla warfare, and he demanded the team sent to bring him back to the present day help him complete one more mission. Ratchet, the Joes, and the Cobra agents were successful in freeing a factory nearby that was manned by enslaved humans, but Ratchet refused to go home with them and abandon his calling. [[Barbecue]] returned Ratchet home against his wishes, and as Ratchet cursed the stupid little creature, the [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] of the present day shot Ratchet in the back, putting him out of commission.

Later, when [[Serpent O.R.]] took Optimus Prime prisoner, Ratchet (still in his post-apocalyptic body) was part of [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]]'s rescue team.
Ratchet was part of a detachment of Autobots that had operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency.
Ratchet was seemingly alone in his convictions, until [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] agreed to help him and the humans investigate an abandoned Decepticon bunker in [[Nebraska]]. [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] and [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] arrived while the humans were reconnoitering and began an aerial bombardment of the bunker, intending to destroy it. Bumblebee and Ratchet engaged the Decepticons in order to buy the humans time to escape the collapsing bunker. {{Storylink|Infiltration issue 4}}

The Autobots and humans were leaving the Decepticons to finish their work when an enraged [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] burst from the buried ruins of the bunker. Thankfully for them, Megatron was more concerned with the treachery of Blitzwing and Skywarp, allowing Ratchet and the others to escape with their lives. {{Storylink|Infiltration issue 5}} Unwilling to risk their safety further, Ratchet subsequently returned the humans to ''[[Ark-17]]'', where they met the newly arrived Optimus Prime. {{Storylink|Infiltration issue 6}}

Later, Ratchet and [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], against orders, accompanied Verity Carlo and [[Jimmy Pink]] to find the now-missing [[Sunstreaker]] and Hunter O'Nion while Prime and the other Autobots went to [[Brasnya]]. When the humans set off a trap, the Autobots saved them, though Ironhide was critically injured and Ratchet was forced to abandon him to bring the humans to safety. {{Storylink|Escalation|Escalation #1-6}}
When the Autobots decided to relocate the ''Ark-17'', they were attacked by [[Sixshot]], who downed the ship in mid-flight. {{Storylink|Devastation issue 1}} Ratchet was ordered to take Verity and Jimmy into an escape pod while the rest of the crew piloted the ship into the ocean. {{Storylink|Devastation issue 2}} Sixshot soon found Ratchet and pursued him relentlessly, forcing Ratchet to abandon Verity and Jimmy for their own safety. When cornered at the water's edge, Ratchet made an apparent last stand, but was saved by the timely arrival of the other Autobots. {{Storylink|Devastation issue 3}} The humans made their way back to the Autobots to warn them about an air attack by the military, and Ratchet took them with him on an orbital bounce to the ''[[Ark-32]]''. Unfortunately, this killed Verity and Jimmy. {{Storylink|Devastation issue 4}}
After a team of four (consisting of [[Outback|Fallback]], [[Chromia]], [[Flareup]], and [[Ricochet (Descent into Evil)|Ricochet]]) failed, Ratchet and [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] followed to help. After battling swarms of [[Virulent Clones]] and [[Buzzclaw (Timelines)|Buzzclaw]], they finally met up with Deathsaurus himself. Ironhide stayed to fight the general, and Ratchet separated to find their fallen friends.
Ratchet managed to gather the victims but was captured by Deathsaurus along with Ironhide. Both were restrained inside the lab, which was set to detonate.
: Ratchet was originally a Onebox Ambulance Type toy from [[Takara]]'s ''[[Diaclone]]'' line before [[Hasbro]] brought ''Transformers'' to North America. The toy transformed from an ambulance to a robot and gun-station. A variant of the toy included red crosses on the top and sides of the vehicle. Ratchet and his [[retool]]/[[redeco]] buddy [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]], like all Diaclones, were designed to be piloted mecha, which is why he has a seat instead of a head. The Transformers version applied a face sticker to the back of the seat in lieu of a real sculpted noggin.

: In 1986, he was made available as a mail-away item (as he was no longer shipping to retail shelves) in multiple offers, including the [[Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction]] flier packed with most boxed ''Transformers'' toys. He cost $8 and two [[robot points]]. It is worth noting that in Japan, Ratchet was originally only available as a [[S.T.A.R.S.]] mail-away, costing 1700 yen and 4 robot points.

: In 2001, he was reissued in Japan as an [[E-Hobby|e-Hobby]] [[exclusive]], paired with Ironhide.

: In mid-December 2007, he was reissued again as part of Takara's Transformers Encore line. This particular version came with an illustration on one box flap depicting Ratchet's cartoon-design head and chest windshield. By punching out the image along the perforated edges, folding it just so and tucking it in behind the toy's windshield, one could obscure the circuit-board "face" on the driver's seat and give the toy a "real" head, just like in the TV series...sort of.
: For the Hasbro ''[[Heroes of Cybertron]]'' version of SCF, Ratchet was cast entirely in clear-blue plastics, then painted over completely, so a patch of unpainted plastic at the back of his head would emulate the [[Lightpipe|light piping]] effect of previous toys. He was part of the fifth and final wave of ''Heroes of Cybertron'' and came with the right leg to the "build-a-bot" large PVC of [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]].
During the Great War, an Autobot [[Arcee (Animated)|intelligence agent]] was in danger of falling into [[Decepticon]] hands. Ultra Magnus sent Ratchet to recover her so the access codes she held in her databanks couldn't be used to deal a devastating blow to the Autobots. {{storylink|The Thrill of the Hunt}}

This, of course, would all go out the window once it was discovered that the Decepticons in pursuit were in [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]'s [[Nemesis (Animated)|flagship]], at which point the Autobots decided that they should book it. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}
[[Image:Eliteguardleaveshuttle.jpg|left|thumb|200px|thumb|Airport management, the FAA and the airlines—they're all cheats and liars.

However, once he was led to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]], he had to bail out that same subordinate, who had angered the [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobot]]s. After a distress call from [[Sumdac Systems]] was answered, he turned the tide in a battle against malfunctioning police droids. As Optimus Prime acted bravely, loyally, and with sound tactical judgment during that incident, he commended the wayward Academy bot, simultaneously putting Sentinel in his place, much to Sentinel's chagrin. Seeing evidence that the AllSpark indeed still existed scattered about the city, he settled in for the long haul. {{storylink|The Elite Guard}}

Ultra Magnus was unable to come to the press meeting, so Sentinel Prime went in his place. Supreme Commander Magnus wanted a report about the reported Decepticon activity, and about Sentinel "losing his head". Optimus covered for Sentinel, stretching the truth in front of him. Magnus left to report to [[Cybertron Command]]. {{storylink|The Return of the Headmaster}}

After his hammer proved insufficient to dislodge the AllSpark shard, he was ultimately saved by the insubordinate Optimus and his crew, particularly the intervention of [[Sari Sumdac|the little organic]] with the [[Sari Sumdac's key|AllSpark-empowered key]]. He was about to reprimand Optimus, but evidence of Decepticon activity quite literally fell into his lap as Starscream was knocked from the sky. Blasted away by the flying traitor, Magnus was repaired by Ratchet and Sari while the remainder of the Autobots brought Starscream into custody. Once all was said and done, he yet again praised Optimus's decision-making skills and scolded Sentinel for insisting that things be "by the book".<ref>This is quickly becoming a theme.</ref> He also decided that while he was needed to direct the war effort on Cybertron, the Decepticons on Earth had to be dealt with as well. Therefore, Ultra Magnus and the Elite Guard left for Cybertron, while Optimus Prime's crew remained on Earth to locate the AllSpark shards and capture the Decepticons. {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}
After a distress call from [[Sumdac Systems]] was answered, he turned the tide in a battle against malfunctioning police droids. As Optimus Prime acted bravely, loyally, and with sound tactical judgment during that incident, he commended the wayward Academy bot, simultaneously putting Sentinel in his place, much to Sentinel's chagrin. Ultra Magnus was unable to come to the press meeting, so Sentinel Prime went in his place. After his hammer proved insufficient to dislodge the AllSpark shard, he was ultimately saved by the insubordinate Optimus and his crew, particularly the intervention of [[Sari Sumdac|the little organic]] with the [[Sari Sumdac's key|AllSpark-empowered key]]. He was about to reprimand Optimus, but evidence of Decepticon activity quite literally fell into his lap as Starscream was knocked from the sky.

It can also call storm clouds and shoot lightning. Small wonder they call him "Ultra".

Like [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]], he is a veteran of the [[Great War]].

During the Great War, an Autobot [[Arcee (Animated)|intelligence agent]] was in danger of falling into [[Decepticon]] hands. Ultra Magnus sent Ratchet to recover her so the access codes she held in her databanks couldn't be used to deal a devastating blow to the Autobots. {{storylink|The Thrill of the Hunt}}

This, of course, would all go out the window once it was discovered that the Decepticons in pursuit were in [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]'s [[Nemesis (Animated)|flagship]], at which point the Autobots decided that they should book it. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}
Upon landing on [[Earth]], Magnus seemed to trust Sentinel Prime's judgment regarding the planet. Smooth.
What a horrible, long list. We need a way of categorizing these disambiguation lists once they get so long. I was thinking of doing it by continuity family with a '''bolded''' name above, but there's a lot of those too now, and we'd end up with several of them with just one underneath. Should Animated OP really be labeled as 2007? I ask because although animated premiered in 2007, with the exception of the first episode, its entirely in 2008. Also, all of the associated merchandise is not even released yet and is going to be (obviously) in 2008.--[[User:Skyglide|Skyglide]] 21:00, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
The name '''Megatron''' can refer to several different versions of the character:

*[[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], leader and sometimes founder of the [[Decepticon]]s from ''[[Generation 1]]''.
*[[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]], yet another Decepticon commander, this one a pivotal figure in the [[Unicron Trilogy]].

*[[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], the former [[Lord High Protector]] of Cybertron who gets a jonesing for the [[All Spark]] and sparks a [[Transformers (2007)|motion picture]].

*[[Megatron (Shattered Glass)|Megatron]], the heroic leader of the Decepticon resistance in [[Shattered Glass]].

'''Megatron''' is not to be confused with:

*[[Straxus]], a Decepticon commander who temporarily inhabited Megatron's body (or a version of it, it's complicated) from the Generation 1 comics.

*[[Megatron Military|The Megatron Military]], [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]'s legion of Megatron clones from [[The Transformer (manga)|The Transformer]] manga series.
:''Optimus Prime is an [[Autobot]] in the [[Transformers Animated]] [[continuity family]].''

'''Optimus Prime''' is a relatively naive and idealistic young leader, prone to long-winded "inspirational" speeches, who leads a small and inexperienced Autobot [[space bridge]] maintenance team under the supervision of [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]]. Despite his humble "Bot Next Door" persona, he performs his job with a dedicated seriousness. He transforms into a red truck cab that can be fitted with many kinds of "trailer" attachments (most notably one that makes him look like a fire engine) and wields a kick-ass, rocket-powered, extendable battle axe, as well as wrist-mounted grappler cables.

[[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]] sneers at Optimus's lowly repair job. More than anything, Prime wishes to be a hero. He's got the speeches, he's got the moves...but what is he missing?
Maybe [[Stan Bush|The Touch]]?
On a mission, Optimus and [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Elita-1]] accompanied [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel]] to a forbidden organic planet in search of a lost [[Decepticon]] ship rumored to be rich in [[Energon]]. After finding the planet to be infested with giant spiders, the trio finally decided to leave, but their retreat was not easy. Though Optimus and Elita found the Decepticon ship and its coveted [[energon cube]]s, they were forced to escape when spiders surrounded them. However, Elita was left behind, presumed destroyed in an energon explosion. Sentinel was furious and blamed Optimus for her death. {{storylink|Along Came a Spider}}

{{note|It's not clear if either Optimus or Sentinel had attained the [[Prime (rank)|rank of Prime]] during the above events, as neither is addressed as such.}}

At some point Optimus was in the Elite Guard, but lost his position due an incident that Sentinel had something to do with (the details are unknown at the moment), and eventually found himself leading a small space bridge repair crew a thousand stellar cycles later, though he still had his [[Prime (rank)| rank]]. Prime and his crew came across the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] while repairing a [[Space Bridge]] and brought the artifact aboard their ship. During transport, they were discovered by the [[Decepticons]], and [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] came after them. He proved too strong to take head on (in spite of [[Starscream (Animated)|his subordinate]] planting a bomb on his chassis), but when the [[Autobot ship (Animated)|Autobots' ship]] neared [[Earth]], Prime knocked Megatron overboard. The Autobots stayed in stasis for the next 50 years until they were accidentally awakened by an apparent intruder. Optimus and the Autobots took on Earth vehicles as alternate modes in an attempt to assimilate with what they believed to be the local dominant culture. Prime and his team were able to dispatch a bio-mechanical insectoid that was attacking Detroit. They were hailed as heroes for it.

[[Image:Sariprime.jpg|right|thumb|120px|Sorry, Prime, this is just another one of those things you were never meant to know...]]

Over the next several weeks, the Autobots got to learn human culture and and customs, doing their best to prevent disasters and save lives. Eventually, Starscream came for the AllSpark, and Optimus found that the schemer could pack quite a punch. The Autobot officer was still able to keep Starscream from getting the artifact, though at the cost of his life. However, he was quickly revived by [[Sari Sumdac]] and her AllSpark-influenced key. Later, the Autobots helped rebuild parts of Detroit that were destroyed in their battle with Starscream. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out!}}

Unfortunately for Optimus, he had gained a reputation outside of Earth's atmosphere—not as a hero, but as the slayer of Megatron. The Decepticon [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]] placed a large bounty on his head, and pretty soon, [[Lockdown]] came to collect. He captured Prime and stole his axe and grapplers. Fortunately, Ratchet saved him, finally getting the old bot to open up more. {{storylink|The Thrill of the Hunt}}

[[Image:TFA_ep9_Optimus_and_Blackarachnia_rooftop.jpg|left|thumb|200px|Optimus Prime is all left feet, but that's still not as many as Blackarachnia.]]During the Autobots' first [[Halloween]] on Earth, the Decepticon [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]] showed up and kidnapped Sari. When Optimus Prime tried to fight her, she dodged all his moves, as she had trained with him. Prime was shocked to learn that Blackarachnia was his old Autobot Academy classmate Elita-1, who hadn't died but been mutated while fighting off the giant arachnids those many years ago. Blackarachnia tried to use Sari's AllSpark key to remove the organic aspects from her biology, but the key began to drain the life from everything organic around and nearly killed Blackarachnia herself. Prime removed the key, saving Blackarachnia and the organics. Still calling her Elita, Prime tried to convince her to return to the Autobots so they could try and help her. She repaid that kindness by injecting him with venom and telling him that she would never trust him again. Prime was left to reflect on the friend he'd failed not once, but twice. {{storylink|Along Came a Spider}}

When Decepticon energy signals were detected near the city, the Autobots quickly realized that their options were limited. Bulkhead mentioned that the [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobot]]s might help, forcing [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] to reveal how the two moved them to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]]. Prime's reaction was...displeased, to say the least. Prime also concluded that the Key was no longer safe with Sari, and he ordered Ratchet to take it from her. As Sari ran off crying, Bumblebee mouthed off that their situation was an indication that Prime was unfit for command.

Heading to Dinobot Island, Prime did not get off to a good start with [[Grimlock (Animated)|Grimlock]], mostly because Grimlock considered him lunch. After Prowl smoothed things over, Prime tried to convince them to help the Autobots fight the Decepticons, but Grimlock was uninterested. Receiving word from Ratchet that the Key had been stolen, Prime ordered Ratchet to guard the AllSpark while the Autobots headed back for the mainland. Prime himself also began to wonder if he was fit for command, seeing as all his decisions had blown up in his face. When Bumblebee contacted the Autobots to inform them that Starscream was at [[Sumdac Tower]], he refused Prime's order to hold back and went to attack the Decepticon on his own. Prime dryly noted that the day just kept getting better and better.

Then everything pretty much went to [[Pit|hell]] when Megatron burst out of Sumdac Tower, to the shock and horror of just about everyone. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part I}}

Quickly regaining their composure, the Autobots attacked. Megatron beat the [[slag (slang)|slag]] out of them. Though Optimus fared slightly better, Megatron still brought him down fairly quickly. They were only able to escape when Megatron punished Starscream for his betrayal. Taking refuge within [[Sumdac Tower]], Professor Sumdac explained his role in Megatron's revival and helped repair the Autobots with residual key energy. After Bumblebee called Prime to answer for his earlier assessment of them, Prime admitted he was wrong and asked them for forgiveness. When Ratchet and Sari showed up with the Autobots' ship, the Autobots took flight, hoping to lure the Decepticons away from Earth to prevent human casualties. Unfortunately, the Decepticons shot down the vessel and caused it to crash on Dinobot Island.

As the Autobots took on the Decepticons, Optimus faced down Megatron, which went as well as the first time. When Megatron got into the Autobots' ship, he took the AllSpark and placed the powerful artifact within him, using it as a weapon against Prime. However, Megatron had dropped the key, and Sari threw it to Prime. The Autobot officer used the key to send a surge of energy through the AllSpark, causing it to disperse while still in Megatron. With the threat passed, Prime apologized to Sari and returned the key, saying it was too important to be trusted with an Autobot. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part II}}

After the battle with the Decepticons, the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]] arrived to take the AllSpark back to Cybertron. Optimus explained that the AllSpark had been dispersed and that the Decepticons had been defeated. Sentinel Prime accused Optimus of lying and took every chance he could to belittle his former friend, but [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] decided to investigate their claims. Optimus took them to Dinobot Island, but the Autobots did not make a good impression on the Dinobots. Before they could investigate, they received a message from Ratchet, saying that police drones had gone haywire at a Sumdac Systems manufacturing plant. Optimus managed to get Sari inside and shut off the assembly line, but the key was stuck in the console. Before Optimus could help, Sentinel pushed him aside and promised to see Optimus charged for high treason. Tired of Sentinel's [[slag (slang)|slag]], Optimus finally stuck up for himself and told Sentinel where to shove it, destroying the console the key was stuck in and revealing an AllSpark fragment. Ultra Magnus accepted the shard as proof of Optimus Prime's claims. Though Sentinel still refused to believe him, Magnus said that Optimus Prime displayed many qualities that Sentinel himself could use. {{storylink|The Elite Guard}}

[[Image:Returnofheadmaster_optimuslaughs.jpg|thumb|right|Ha ''Ha!'' Decapitation.]]
When Sentinel and Optimus were at a press conference with [[Mayor Edsel]], they received a call about a Decepticon sighting in old Detroit. After Sentinel mangled the roads en route, he told Optimus to split up and search on his own. Hours later, Optimus received a communication to from Sentinel to dismiss the police and come to Sentinel's location alone—and not to laugh when he got there. What Optimus found was Sentinel Prime's severed head, with his [[structure|body]] having been stolen by the [[Headmaster (Animated)|Headmaster]]. He promised to help Sentinel find his body without letting Ultra Magnus or the other Autobots know, but not before taking a moment or two to enjoy the situation.

Heading for Sumdac Tower, Optimus confronted [[Porter C. Powell]], who denied knowing where Masterson was and told him the Autobots were no longer welcome at the facility. Optimus left, but immediately tapped in on Powell and Masterson's phone conversation, letting Optimus track Masterson to the docks. After encountering mini-Headmasters in the form of [[Tutor Bot]] and [[Sparkplug (Animated)|Sparkplug]], Optimus was able to get aboard the ship before it sailed away. Finding the Headmaster with Sentinel Prime's body, Optimus Prime proceeded to beat the living slag out of his attacker, much to Sentinel's discomfort. Finally defeating the mad scientist, Optimus reattached Sentinel's head to his body, but Masterson walked away due to legal technicalities. When Ultra Magnus asked them about it the next day, Optimus covered for Sentinel, saying that Sentinel had volunteered to use himself as bait to capture Masterson, and Magnus praised their bravery. In an awkward moment, Sentinel thanked Optimus for all he'd done, and the two shook hands amicably. {{storylink|The Return of the Headmaster}}

[[Image:Sentinel vs Optimus, with Jazz in the middle.jpg|left|thumb|200px|Jay Leno VS. Bruce Campbell, Battle of chins.]]When word of Decepticon attacks came after learning that Megatron was still alive, Ultra Magnus decided that Optimus and his Autobots would be needed elsewhere repairing damaged space bridges. The Elite Guard also wanted Optimus to...leave out that whole destruction of the AllSpark and Megatron's survival thing for the time being. When they detected an AllSpark shard energy signature in a human train, the Elite Guard went to retrieve it. Detecting Starscream, Optimus realized it was a trap and was forced to place stasis cuffs on Sentinel Prime to leave the Elite Guard's ship. Meeting up with his crew, he helped them remove the shard and save the humans. Magnus and Sentinel, who by now had broken out of his cuffs, were about to rip Optimus a new one for insubordination, assault, and the lack of evidence over the Decepticons{{m-}}at which point Starscream's body crashed mere meters away from them, having been offlined by Megatron (again). When Starscream knocked out Ultra Magnus, Optimus took command (much to Sentinel's displeasure). He managed to place the stasis-cuffs on Starscream, and Ultra Magnus decided that Optimus Prime and his team would be allowed to stay on Earth, locate the remaining AllSpark shards, and arrest the remaining Decepticons. {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}
*'''Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime''' (Deluxe, 2008)
[[Image:TFAnimated_Deluxe_CybertronPrime_toy.jpg|right|thumb|250px|''"I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay. I sleep all night and I work all day."'']]

:Based on his pre-Earth Cybertronian look, the first version of ''Animated'' Optimus Prime transforms into a half-track Cybertronic truck loosely based on the [http://www.fleetwatch.co.za/magazines/Feb2005/78-WW-Feb05.htm Mitsubishi Fuso Hybrid concept truck]. As a half-track, instead of rear wheels, he has molded, caterpillar-linked tracks with smaller wheels inside for rolling along smooth surfaces. Prime's axe weapon is stored by partially folding the axe at the grey hinge near the handle peg, then placing the handle peg in a hole on the back of the cab (actually his two fists' holes, thus helping them hold it in position) with the blade facing down and a grey peg facing up, acting as a "fifth wheel" (known as a trailer hitch among fans), should one find a suitable trailer to attach onto it.

:He has a superb range of articulation, as is the standard with ''Animated'' toys, due to the extensive use of ball joints and universal hinge joints. As stated above, the hitch assembly becomes his axe, which can be wielded with one blade (for the rocket-boosted look) or have the single blade split to form a double-bladed axe. The truck roof can be mounted on his left arm as a shield or spread apart and attached to the axe to become giant energon blades.
* Optimus was killed off after only [[Transform and Roll Out!|one episode]] (three if you want to get technical) ''and'' revived 1 minute and 15 seconds later. That's gotta [[Optimus Prime (G1)|be]] [[Optimus Primal|a]] [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|new]] [[The many deaths of Optimus Prime|record]].
* The placement of Optimus' Cybertronian vehicle mode's front wheels is similar in location to those on [[Optimus Prime (G1)#Dreamwave comics continuity|Optronix]].
* The twin cylinder shaped protrusions connected to Optimus' small antennae are inspired by the head design of the [[Transformers (2007)|2007 movie]] rendition of [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]], as opposed to the [[Optimus Prime (G1)|traditional]] single cylinder.
* While Sentinel Prime does a lot of down talking to Optimus Prime, they are, in fact, the same rank.
* Prime's axe resembles the Autobot symbol, if you flip the blade so that it's facing upwards.
* Despite nominally being a fire truck, Prime's alt mode features a detachable cab that can mount a number of different trailers, such as [[Headmaster (episode)|a lookalike of G1 Optimus' trailer]] and a [[The Elite Guard|dump truck]]. Presumably, this would make the rest of his fire truck mode a "trailer" as well... ?
::::See, I love Tara Strong to death, but that doesn't make me automatically love all the characters she plays. The writing is decent (slightly above G1 level writing but not as good as, say, Avatar: The Last Airbender), but I find Sari's character to be little more than Generic Perky Girl with her Deus Ex Machina Key. I enjoyed Spike as a character more because he really WAS just a human, no "omg sekrit POWARZ" to make him more "interesting." [[User:Combobreaker|Combobreaker]] 20:30, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
:::::Spike didn't have powers? The guy and his entire family probably have an allergy to Kryptonite, and then there's the Headmaster thing. Also, calling ''Animated'''s writing slightly better than G1 gives the G1 cartoon ''way'' to much credit.--[[User:FortMax|FortMax]] 00:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
::::::Well, Spike and the other Witwickys have 80s Cartoon Disease - just look at the other Hasbro show from the same time period, GI Joe. They were all "human" in the same way. But Spike never whipped out his wallet and used it to revive Optimus Prime. And frankly, I find a lot of the plot devices in TF:CHINS just as laughable as G1, only now with uglier art and more obnoxious humans. In fact, that's WHY I find it watchable - the writing is so similar to G1's lulzy improbability that I enjoy it immensely, or at least enough to ignore the terrible art. Anyway, I'm running speedily away from my point. That is, I and every other TF fan I've talked to absolutely despise Sari. Calling her "well liked, more so than usual" on her Wiki page Does Not Compute for me. It's fine to call her a "generally liked character" or even just "a popular human character," but using the turn of phrase that's there now makes it seem like every TF fan everywhere absolutely adores her.

::::::Hell, at this point I'd even take Kicker. At least his art style doesn't hurt my eyes. [[User:Combobreaker|Combobreaker]] 01:25, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

:::::::Geez, give the art style a break already! People bitching about the art style reminds me of when [[wikipedia: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker|Zelda: Windwaker]] first came out for the Gamecube. People dismissed the game as "kiddie" just because of the cell-shading style, but it was actually a very enjoyable game, just as challenging as any other in the Zelda series. Actually, Sari reminds me very much of Tetra in that game.

:::::::Just give it a chance. I actually prefer the stylized art over the overly-detailed 80's comic look of G1. Plus, is Sari having her key really all that different than how the All Spark was used in the [[Transformers (2007)|Movie]]? Both are miraculous objects that completely ignore all known laws of physics and can bring robots to life/fix said robots in about 3 seconds flat. At least in a cartoon that's somewhat more acceptable.--[[User:Nightshade83|Nightshade83]] 01:35, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
And the "but the movie did it!" excuse doesn't quite fly in this case, because the movie at least had the excuse of being directed by Michael Bay. Oh, and the movie didn't use it EVERY HALF HOUR. 'OHAI, it's a new episode, time for Sari to use her damn key for a totally random reason that in no way correlates to the way she used it last episode.' ANYWAY, POINT STILL BEING: I don't like her! :::I think that not even Combobreaker has voiced an opinion contrary to the statement. He doesn't like her, and the people he's talked to (before coming here) don't like her. That doesn't make the statement inaccurate, because it is describing a generalized opinion of hundreds of active fans. Apparently all the editors paying attention to this page feel that in ''their'' observations of other fans, Sari seems to have been better received than most humans. The phrasing "reasonably well liked, more so than usual" doesn't even remotely mean "all the fans think she's great". It means exactly what it says -- she is liked more than most human characters, ie. the majority of the fandom does not despise her. As a rule of thumb, Transformers fans (treated as a homogeneous group) hate human sidekicks. There are certainly pockets of the fandom that hate Sari. But she is, on average, *not* hated. I find the "well liked, more so than usual" statement to be a little too all-encompassing for my tastes. I'd really like to debate that she's "well-liked" so far - I personally hate her, the person I watch the show with hates her, and every Transformers fan I talk to hates her. The writing is decent (slightly above G1 level writing but not as good as, say, Avatar: The Last Airbender), but I find Sari's character to be little more than Generic Perky Girl with her Deus Ex Machina Key.

That is all I have been trying to get across here. There's no link to any outside polls, discussions, or articles that talk about how popular she is with fans. I find the "well liked, more so than usual" statement to be a little too all-encompassing for my tastes. How about we just say she's "generally popular" or "mostly liked" instead? [[User:Combobreaker|Combobreaker]] 02:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
::::::8 or nine people in this discussion disagree with you, and none agree. I'd call Sari pretty well liked unless the 8 or 9 of us are secretly the same guy. --[[User:FortMax|FortMax]] 03:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
:::::::GAH, again with using this wiki's talk page to justify what's on the wiki! Oh god, the wikiality is suffocating me. Look, in wikis, you are supposed to cite references. Just because the people that hang out on a character's talk page are ga-ga over said character does NOT mean that the rest of the fandom shares the same opinion. I AM NOT TRYING TO MOVE MOUNTAINS HERE. Please re-read my comment. I want her to just be noted as being "generally popular" or "mostly liked!" How horrible of me! I'm corrupting the TF fandom! Jeez. :::::::Dude, you're not kidding when you say you're skilled at stirring up drama! As much as I do appreciate Sari as a character, you've made it QUITE clear that not everone shares that opinion. Maybe something along the lines of "mostly well-liked" would be a reasonable alternative, if everyone else agrees.--[[User:Nightshade83|Nightshade83]] 03:34, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
:::::::::Yeah, what's really crazy is I'm not even TRYING to stir up drama. At this point I'm convinced that almost everyone here is completely unwilling to acknowledge differing opinions in fandom - I really like your compromise and think that it would fit the real-world reception of her character. (After all, others aside from me have noted in these comments that she is not universally liked!) However, it just seems like most people responding to me are overly hostile because I'm new and have a different opinion. I'm getting called names for wanting a wiki article to be slightly edited? WTF? [[User:Combobreaker|Combobreaker]] 07:50, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
::::::::I say leave it the way it is. We shouldn't change the entry just because one loudmouth says we should. [[User:Semysane|Semysane]] 05:54, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
:::::::::Again, point missed. The way she's referred to in this article makes it seem as though every TF fan everywhere loves her. They don't, and people other than me have said as much on this talk page. [[User:Combobreaker|Combobreaker]] 07:50, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
If you want to argue our consensus is not representative maybe ''you'' should be citing references to support ''your'' point. -[[User:Derik|Derik]] 07:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
:::::::::I am so frustrated by this sort of attitude on any wiki. Just because you are the majority here does not make you the majority everywhere else. I am here representing a differing opinion, which, as NEITHER are easily citable I think BOTH are equally valid. Your personal experience dictates that Sari is popular. Fine, that's awesome. My own personal experience - maybe because I talk almost exclusively to G1 fans - says that she's despised. In this situation I think it's perfectly reasonable to just turn the love on her wiki down a notch, because right now it's going to 11. I'd like to at least see it backed off to an 8. :::::::::::PS: I really want to contribute to this wiki, but believe it or not, I thought I'd start with something small. I had no idea I'd start such a mess just by wanting a character's unquantified popularity slightly edited. That's why I stuck to the talk page instead of editing it myself - didn't want to just jump into editing the wiki itself and piss people off. :I think I love you, man, you have been nothing but reasonable and moderate here. I would comment here but I never got into Cybertron, so I'm a little sketchy on the human characters. ::It does NOT say that she is universally well liked by ANY stretch of the imagination! No, this isn't revealing what Sari actually is.
