:Optimus Prime is the Autobot leader from the Robots in Disguise continuity family.

Optimus Prime is a stern and serious commander, devoted to protecting freedom and innocent life. He has seen the galactic path of conquest and destruction already burned by Megatron and swears it will not include Earth. Optimus Prime often finds himself in the role of "straight man" to the more comic stylings of the other Autobots and Predacons, and tends to treat their humorous exaggerations or personality quirks as statements of straightforward fact. His subordinates view him as a great leader, if stubborn and much too prone to long speeches. Optimus Prime's greatest weakness is his sense of nobility. If an adversary claims to have had a change of heart and discovered inner goodness, Prime will fall for it every single time.

Optimus Prime was created, along with Ultra Magnus, by Alpha Trion during the Golden Age. The two of them were raised together, and thus, saw each other as brothers. However, this relationship was torn apart after the Cybertron Civil Wars, whereupon the Matrix chose Optimus Prime to command the Autobots in stopping the Predacon leader Megatron from ravaging the universe in his quest for energy. Ultra Magnus left Cybertron that same day, bitter and spiteful of his brother.

Prime soon struck up command on Earth, where he took the form of a fire truck. Operating out of a secret base in Metro City, he and his fellow Autobots were more than ready to face Megatron and his Predacons. The conflict began when Megatron appeared in New York, attempting to kidnap the famous scientist Doctor Kenneth Onishi. Optimus struck up a friendship with Onishi's son, Koji, and despite not being able to save the boy's father, vowed that he would help rescue him. Battle Protocol!

In the events that followed, Prime was forced to deal with the Predacons' many energy-grabbing schemes, either personally, or indirectly by way of helping T-AI coordinate the movement of his troops by way of the Global Space Bridge.

However, Prime soon found another threat, in the form of the Decepticons—namely, one named Scourge. Scourge was a corrupted Autobot protoform, who, in addition to being infused with Megatron's evil, scanned Optimus Prime and a tanker truck at the same time, resulting in his looking like a twisted clone of the Autobot leader. The Decepticons Prime hoped that Scourge and his fellow Decepticons would one day be restored to their true Autobot selves, but after the Decepticons themselves tried to use this to trick him, he decided he should not allow this to cloud his judgement. The Test (episode)

Matters escalated when Ultra Magnus appeared on Earth, making his desire to take the Matrix from Optimus Prime known to his "brother". Optimus refused to fight Magnus, and was thus mercilessly fired upon, until Side Burn, Prowl, and X-Brawn arrived to carry him away. Prime took refuge on a deserted island, but the Decepticons, Megatron, and Magnus all tracked him there. In the midst of the battle, Magnus forcibly activated their ability to combine into Omega Prime, intending to use it to drain Prime of his energy so he could take the Matrix, but Optimus managed to take control and use their combination to stop the Decepticons. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion! This fusion apparently resulted in both Autobots sharing the Matrix's power, which led to Magnus's attitude softening towards his brother.

Eventually, it was revealed that Megatron's true purpose on Earth was to take control of the massive Autobot, Fortress Maximus. These events led to Megatron becoming the more powerful Galvatron, who eventually devastated the Autobot forces. In his final battle with the evil leader, Prime and Magnus combined into Omega Prime to face Galvatron at the Earth's core. They were seemingly no match for him, until Fortress Maximus sent them his power, which energized the Matrix, forming the giant weapon, the Matrix Blade. Galvatron was defeated, and with that, the Autobots' mission on Earth was finished, and Prime resolved to return to Cybertron—but not before "one last look around" with Koji and the rest of his team. The Final Battle (RID)

Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?
With the other Autobots all engaged in other fights around the world, Optimus Prime alone was available to answer T-AI's battle protocol at an experimental nuclear generator in Arizona. His opening plan was to lure the Predacons and Decepticons away from the humans to battle them at a safe distance, but his wayward brother Ultra Magnus intervened, confronting the villains head on in the middle of the generator plant. As Prime chastised Magnus for his rash action, Scourge overheard and seized on the idea to threaten the humans if the Autobots didn't stand down. Despite his anger at Optimus, Ultra Magnus remembered his Autobot training and reluctantly laid down his weapon. At the proper moment, though, the brothers managed to attack a distracted Scourge and save the humans. The Predacons and Decepticons escaped with the generator, but the humans were safe. Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?

Universe comic
Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus were among the countless Transformers pulled from the multiverse to engage in the death-duels of the Cauldron deep inside the shattered Unicron. As Omega Prime, they escaped this fate in the jail-break set by Trailbreaker and Silverbolt. Escape (issue)

Cybertron comic
During the final battle with the Minions of Unicron in the Pit, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus (as Omega Prime) were fighting alongside the Children of Primus when the corrupt pocket universe began to collapse around them. Omega Prime and the others fled through a dimensional portal, but the powerlinxed brothers were diverted by the former Mini-Con Over-Run into another reality, just in time to stop Nemesis Prime from unleashing the Dead Matrix inside the Spark Chamber of Primus. The evil clone was vanquished, and the brothers hooked up with Sentinel Maximus and his comrades as they attempted to fortify Cybertron against the Unicron Singularity.

Working relatively behind the scenes while that reality's Optimus Prime and his crew searched for the Cyber Planet Keys, Optimus Prime and his brother found themselves moderating an internal dispute among the Mini-Con colonies in Cybertron's debris field, and were engaged with a Cybertronian-sized version of Unicron himself when Primus first transformed due to an infusion of Cyber Key Power. Some months later, after the final battle with the Cyber Key empowered Galvatron, Optimus Prime first met his local counterpart, and they exchanged information on their endeavors over the last few months. With the newly reformed Unicron on the loose after their last encounter, Optimus chose to join Ultra Magnus and Sentinel Maximus in hunting him down. The final fate of their mission, and whether the brothers ever returned to their home reality, remains to be seen. Balancing Act

: Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime transforms into a Japanese Hino Brandlier fire truck. Harkening back to Generation 1 toys, he features chromed wheels with rubber tires. The forward section of his truck detaches to become his standard robot mode. His 'trailer' can be reconfigured into a sort of battle station. The station can then be disassembled and attached around the robot to form his Battle Mode. His standard robot can combine with Ultra Magnus to form Omega Prime.

: The original Takara Car Robots release differs from the Hasbro version in that it has a darker, metallic-flake plastic, and has no Autobot symbols tampo-printed on the shoulder pads. Obviously, the voice clips used for the Japanese toy are also different, although the English clips are essentially translations of the Japanese ones (with the Hasbro toy incorrectly proclaiming that Optimus Prime's transformation into super mode uses the code-phrase "maximize"). Additionally, the Hasbro version has the unfortunate tendency for its rubber tires to split down its molding connection. Furthermore, Fire Convoy's missiles are of a different mold on the Japanese toy. The toy’s ladder features a trigger that flips all four of his missile launchers forward into firing position when pressed. On Fire Convoy, pressing this trigger causes all four missiles to immediately launch (if by "launch" you mean "be-flung-up-into-the-air-and-fall-to-the-ground-instantly") when they flip forward, whereas the Hasbro toy removes the auto-fire feature, allowing them to be launched one-at-a-time via individual triggers.

: By some bizarre twist of fate, the standard robot mode has four Mini-Con ports on his arms before they were used in Armada.
Notes
* According to the first Car Robots toy catalog, Optimus and his Autobots are part of a "Dimensional Patrol" that followed the Predacons from another dimension. This seems to have been only vaguely alluded to in the Japanese version of the show—Fire Convoy proclaimed in the first episode that he would follow Gigatron wherever he went, "even if it's to the edge of the universe"—but does not seem to have played a large part of the main story, to the extent that the Robots in Disguise dub was able to omit it entirely. However, the 3H supplemental materials for the Universe series re-established the idea, presenting the "Dimensional Patrol" as a post-cartoon organization.

* The first Car Robots catalog also stated that Fire Convoy and Gigatron were once "childhood friends" that became eternal rivals. We don't really have any idea how that was supposed to work.

* Fans in Japan joke that Optimus Prime is an Autobot Emperor of Destruction rather than an Autobot Supreme Commander, due to his actions in the Car Robot anime.

* For this incarnation of Optimus, voice actor Neil Kaplan specifically impersonated the voice of the original Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen. Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime is one of the few Optimuses (two as of 2008) whose English voice actor isn't Cullen or Garry Chalk. At conventions, Kaplan refers to himself as "the George Lazenby of Optimus Primes".

* Cybertron "Multi-Pack" Optimus Prime's on-package bio seems to indicate he's Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime. However, his (and Magnus') deco was later used in the Fun Publications Cybertron fan club magazine comic as Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime having traveled to the Unicron Trilogy universe.

* Optimus Prime's Super Mode chest resembles the chest of EnRyu from King of Braves GaoGaiGar, another Takara series. EnRyu also transforms into a fire truck with a similarly positioned "ladder cannon".

*This is the first incarnation of Optimus not to be killed off at any point during his series. Possibly due to the fact that he is not intended to be Optimus Prime in the original Car Robot series.
"Boy genius" Wedge is leader of the Build Team and chief architect and designer of Earth's subterranean Global Space Bridge. He and his team have never once missed a deadline, and are so devoted to their jobs maintaining and expanding the tunnels that they may go prolonged periods of time underground, totally unseen by either Autobots or Decepticons.

However, Wedge and his team also feel a need to prove themselves as warriors, which drives Wedge to be somewhat gung-ho about charging into battle. He's the definition of a hot head, and he'll ask to be put into battle at any chance he gets - especially when his pride as a builder and an Autobot are on the line. This can put him in harm's way, and also be somewhat obnoxious to his fellow Autobots, but Optimus Prime believes he can be hardened into a capable warrior.

When his team merges to form Landfill, Wedge has total mental control over their combined form, lending him new destructive power to back up his usual bravado.

Just how this inexperienced kid came to lead a team full of far more seasoned Autobots is anyone's guess.
When the Predacons attacked a diamond mine in Antarctica, the Autobot Brothers were sent through the Global Space Bridge to stop them. The heroes were delayed, however, when they tried to go through a part of the bridge that was still being built by the Build Team. Wedge, the leader of the Build Team, said they would build a link to Antarctica on one condition: They got to go on assignment. Optimus Prime agreed, and T-AI sent them off to the mines.

When the Build Team arrived, the Predacons mistook them for normal construction vehicles that Sky-Byte had sent to help carry out the diamonds. For some odd reason, Wedge and the others were all too happy to help. The Preds soon realized their mistake, and the two teams began to fight. Wedge repeatedly tried to fight, and was repeatedly thrashed; at one point, Sky-Byte grabbed Wedge in his mouth and bit the young Autobot hard enough to make him scream, which caused his teammate Heavy Load to beg for mercy on his behalf. Wedge was only released after the Predacons were tricked into exchanging him for what they thought was a map of the spacebridge tunnels, but which actually was a map of the sewers.... in Antarctica. Wedge's Short Fuse

After completing work on the Arctic link, Wedge decided that the team needs some battle practice and sent Grimlock to upload the link data into the space bridge computer. A short time later, the space bridge begin malfunctioning and depositing Autobots at random locations, leading to Wedge getting into an argument with Rapid Run — Wedge's contention being that the problem was not the bridge but the Autobots using it. Finally Wedge realised that the Decepticons had tampered with the Global Space Bridge programming, and the problem was quickly repaired.

The Build Team headed for the energy facility facility where Megatron and Scourge were attempting to plunder energy, with Wedge insisting to the other Autobots that the Build Team should deal with the foe as a matter of honor. Forming Landfill, they soon chased off Megatron and Scourge, and there were apologies exchanged for the earlier heated tempers. Landfill (episode)

The Build Team were called in to help stabilise the CGA Tower, when Sky-Byte and the Predacons endangered it by damaging the foundations. Although Sky-Byte wouldn't let the rest of the Build Team near, Wedge helped to hold up the tower, pleading with the Predacon not to harm the hostages. With Optimus on the way with the O-Parts, Wedge managed to persuade Sky-Byte to let his hostages go and formed Landfill with the rest of the Build Team in order to dig a new foundation for the tower. Sky-Byte Saves the Day

After the Decepticon Commandos raided a power station, the Build Team arrived while they were fighting Rail Racer and promptly siphoned off their stolen energy. Enraged, the Decepticons began destroying construction vehicles in an attempt to draw the Build Team out, but Optimus kept it from Wedge and the rest of the team. On finding out, Wedge was enraged and demanded that they be sent into battle, but Optimus told them to keep away. After Hightower sabotaged the space bridge, the Team confronted the Decepticons anyway.

The fight did not go well, and Landfill was no match for Ruination in combat. Damaged, Landfill began digging furiously, creating a tunnel which began filling with crude oil. Ruination suggested they call a truce until they could get to safety, but Wedge dismissed those fears and deliberately fired his weapon. Everything exploded and his teammates were set on fire. Thankfully, Optimus was nearby, and was able to put the fire out. A Test of Metal

Wedge and the Build Team helped test the Global Space Bridge (even though they obviously knew it would work). Lessons of the Past

During an excavation under Metro City, the Build Team experienced strange hallucinations, seeing each other as Predacons, and abandoned the site. They were later called back to that area when information from Doctor Onishi's chip pointed to the area as possibly containing a Cybertronian artifact. Wedge boasted that this time they would not let the hallucinations fool them again.

While digging at the site, the hallucinations began again, disrupting their work. Eventually they broke through to a cavern containing Fortress Maximus and formed Landfill to fight the Decepticons who then arrived. Fortress Maximus (episode)

Later, as Ruination fought Rail Racer in the middle of Metro City, Wedge spied on them and felt the urge to join in the battle, but was prevented by the more sensible Heavy Load. The Build Team were busy enacting Optimus' plan to hide Fortress Maximus in the city, within a large fake building. Koji Gets His Wish

With Doctor Onishi recovered, the Build Team and Autobot Brothers began a race to locate the last five O-Parts. Wedge and Side Burn engaged in a rivalry over which team would collect the most, and it was Wedge who located the last O-Part under the top-cap of a pyramid, winning the contest. Megatron and the Decepticons soon arrived, with a ill-timed attack from Wedge resulting in the 'bot being taken hostage by Megatron. The Predacon leader demanded the O-Parts in exchange for Wedge's life, but ended up releasing him anyway, after Sky-Byte messed up the exchange. A Friendly Contest

The Build Team accompanied the Autobot Brothers on a mission to find Cerebros beneath an ancient temple. This was fortunate, as the Decepticons caved the temple in on top of them, and the Build Team were able to dig the Autobots out. They subsequently helped to guard Fortress Maximus. Even though the Decepticons were able to activate Maximus, Wedge pointed out that the giant didn't have a will of his own, and would only obey orders. To take out Scourge, who he appeared to be taking orders from, the Build Team formed Landfill, though in the end it turned out that Maximus wasn't obeying Scourge anyway.

After Maximus sank into the ground, the Build Team searched fruitlessly for him. Maximus Emerges

When Scourge made a second attempt to control Maximus in the Sahara Desert, Wedge, the rest of the Build Team and Team Bullet Train picked up a large number of children and took them to the site via the Global Space Bridge. There the children were able to command Maximus to stop. The Human Element

When the Decepticons launched an attack on the Autobot base, Wedge was called to a predetermined location with the rest of the Autobots to spring a trap on their foe. When the Megastar joined the fight, Wedge announced the formation of Landfill, who was promptly blown apart by the battle station's firepower. This didn't diminish Wedge's urge to fight, and he once again charged the Megastar, insisting to Galvatron that he'd never ever defeat the Autobots, only to be blown back by laser fire. His courage was enough to inspire Cerebros to activate Fortress Maximus, resulting in the destruction of the Megastar. Surprise Attack!

Although Galvatron was down, he wasn't out as Wedge believed. Soon Landfill was formed again to fight the Decepticons while Omega Prime engaged in combat with the Decepticon leader. After Galvatron unleashed his cyber-bats, Prime called a retreat, and the Autobots found themselves trapped in a space bridge tunnel rapidly filling with molten lava. Although they escaped, Galvatron soon had them at his mercy again. Galvatron's Revenge

As Megatron attempted to attack Optimus Prime, Landfill and the other Autobots blocked his attack and were paralysed by Galvatron's power. They remained in this state until Omega Prime was able to defeat Galvatron in the Earth's core. Afterwards, just for fun, Wedge and the Build Team did some more work on the space bridge. The Final Battle (RID)
When Team Bullet Train was called in to help protect the Linear RFG, Railspike was able to contact Koji Onishi on board the advanced train to let him know the Autobots were there to help. His plan for the team to link up and slow the Linear RFG with their brakes saved the train from plunging over a bridge which the Predacons had blown up. Once the train was safe, the team merged into Rail Racer to see off the Predacons. Bullet Train to the Rescue

The team was called into Metro City to thwart another attack on the part of Megatron and his Predacons. Negotiating the city streets was not easy for the large Bullet Trains, and at one point Railspike had to steer Midnight Express back on course. In battle against the Predacons, he demonstrated the benefit of his experience by igniting Gas Skunk's acid breath, causing chaos in the opposition ranks. Eventually the team merged into Rail Racer and chased the Predacons off. Although as it turned out, the attack was a diversion while Sky-Byte investigated some ruins. The Secret of the Ruins

Detailed to protect the aging steam engine "Grandpa" from the Predacons, Railspike was bemused by Midnight Express insisting that the train was in some way alive. The team successfully got Grandpa safely to his destination, but the steam train was promptly hijacked by the Predacons. Despite Railspike's warnings, Midnight Express pursued them and ultimately saved the train. Secret Weapon: D-5
Team Bullet Train helped to try to track down Skid-Z after the Autobot scanned a racing car and was possessed by an urge to engage in races. After firing on the Predacons (and Autobots, since Railspike realised it would look suspicious otherwise), the pair returned to the cave to let Optimus Prime and Midnight Express take over as the dragon's statue "robot mode". The Ultimate Robot Warrior
After practising their link-up manoeuvre, Team Bullet Train returned to the Autobot base to review footage of previous adventures in an attempt to find the Predacon base. Hope for the Future After the creation of the Decepticons by Megatron, the team was sent to Sherman Dam, where they combined into Rail Racer and fought Ruination. Commandos They would subsequently spend a lot of time using the Global Space Bridge to arrive at locations under attack from the Decepticons and form Rail Racer to fight the enemy off.

The Autobots' ability to get to remote locations quickly did not go unnoticed by the Decepticons, who managed to sabotage the space bridge, depositing Team Bullet Train on a busy motorway. Railspike subsequently had to restrain Rapid Run from coming to blows with Build Team leader Wedge, whom the team initially blamed for the problems. A second attempt to use the space bridge deposited Railspike firstly in a shopping mall, and then on the side of a hill. Once the space bridge was repaired, the three bullet trains arrived at the North Energy Research Facility and prepared to form Rail Racer. They were stopped by Wedge, who asked them to let the Build Team defeat Megatron as a matter of honour. Landfill (episode)
When the Autobots were on the verge of locating Fortress Maximus, Team Bullet Train were dispatched to the location under Metro City to protect the Build Team. Railspike and Rapid Run battled Ro-Tor and Movor in the confined space until Ultra Magnus showed up to lend a hand. Magnus accidentally flooded the subway, and the two trains were swept away in the resulting torrent. Reunited with Midnight Express, they arrived in the cavern where Maximus was located and formed Rail Racer to defend the giant robot from the Decepticons, and later tried to draw them away from where the Build Team were trying to hide Maximus. Fortress Maximus (episode) Koji Gets His Wish
When Team Bullet Train was called in to help protect the Linear RFG, Rapid Run was forced to abandon a trainload of commuters, including an indignant Kelly. He was keen to test the Linear RFG's speed in a race and almost got his chance when the experimental train's control was overridden by the Predacons. He and the rest of Team Bullet Train linked up and used their brakes to halt the Linear RFG and, once it was safe, combined into Rail Racer in order to drive off the Predacons. Bullet Train to the Rescue

The team was called into Metro City to thwart another attack on the part of Megatron and his Predacons. After clumsily traversing narrow streets, the team found the Predacons and engaged them in combat. Rapid Run was extremely impressed by Railspike's experience and tactics. After a pitched battle with the Predacons, the team merged into Rail Racer and chased them off. Although, as it turned out, the attack was a diversion while Sky-Byte investigated some ruins. The Secret of the Ruins

Rapid Run was less than impressed with the smoky and ageing steam engine nicknamed "Grandpa" when Team Bullet Train was detailed to protect it, and even less impressed with Midnight Express' insistence that the train was somehow self-aware and could understand what they said. The team successfully got Grandpa safely to his destination, but the steam train was promptly hijacked by the Predacons. Secret Weapon: D-5
Team Bullet Train helped to try to track down Skid-Z after the Autobot scanned a racing car and was possessed by an urge to engage in races. They entered the Great Race, but were halted partway by a rock-slide they were unable to pass. Skid Z's Choice

Another new arrival, Tow-Line, was reprogrammed by the Predacons, forcing him to tow away the other Autobots. Rapid Run found himself being carried through the middle of Metro City, scraping along the sides of buildings. He was then unceremoniously dumped down a pit with Side Burn and X-Brawn. Tow-Line was eventually brought back to his senses and rescued the trio, apologising profusely. Tow-Line Goes Haywire

Rapid Run interrupted Slapper interfering with a statue and chased him off. The Autobots subsequently realised that the Cave of the Dragon was likely the Predacons' target, and Rapid Run and Railspike disguised themselves as a dragon as part of a ruse to make the Predacons think it was home to a giant transforming robot. Rapid Run resented being the hind-end of the dragon and didn't think much of the Autobot Brothers' acting. The Autobot Brothers were later assigned to intercept the Predacons, who were prowling Metro City and stealing batteries from cars. X-Brawn scaled a tower in an attempt to spot the enemy and subsequently turned up late after Sky-Byte retrieved an explosive device from a car. He was able to steal the device from Sky-Byte with his grappling hook but accidentally triggered its detonation sequence. Proceeding with all haste, he swung from building to building with his grappling hook and carried the device to the top of a radio tower where he tossed it as high as he could. Optimus Prime's power stream sent the device into orbit where it exploded without destroying anything (anything important, anyway). An Explosive Situation
They escorted the generator as it was transported across the city the next day, but were brought to a halt by a traffic jam engineered by Slapper. Fortunately the Spy Changers were able to lend a hand and the Autobot Brothers got to sit back and watch the Predacons' defeat. Spychangers to the Rescue

X-Brawn was watching a Motocross race when T-AI told him to report to the Global Space Bridge as a ship was under attack by Predacons. Optimus joined the Autobot Brothers at the end of the space bridge, which was terminated some distance short of the troubled vessel. After a few attempts by his fellows to jump the distance, X-Brawn jumped into the water in vehicle mode and carried Side Burn out to the ship. While Optimus battled Sky-Byte, X-Brawn successfully repaired the ship, which returned to an even keel. The Hunt for Black Pyramid

When Megatron and the Predacon trio attacked Metro City, T-AI discovered that X-Brawn and Prowl were both out hunting for Side Burn, who was exploring some ruins with Koji. The pair eventually reached the ruins and were in time to stop Sky-Byte making off with a box, which turned out to contain Doctor Onishi's microchip. This held much valuable information and would help the Autobots greatly in the struggle to follow. The Secret of the Ruins

X-Brawn was once again acting as Kelly's car when he was assigned to quadrant 5, and had to unceremoniously dump her out a second time. As it turned out, Side Burn had been captured by the Predacons. Optimus, despite the remaining two brothers' protests that it was an obvious trap, went in and was captured as well. X-Brawn and Prowl heavily disguised their vehicle modes in order to creep close enough to get the drop on the Predacons, allowing them to rescue their comrades. During the ensuing battle, X-Brawn gave Side Burn a piggy-back ride to climb up a pile of junk. Sideburn's Obsession

The brothers were assigned to protect "Grandpa", an aging steam train. In the end Team Bullet Train did most of the work protecting Grandpa, but X-Brawn was busy stopping Side Burn from chasing red sports cars anyhow. Secret Weapon: D-5 All three brothers volunteered to enter the Great Race in order to try and find Skid-Z, a recently arrived Autobot who had scanned a racing car and become possessed by the urge to compete in races. X-Brawn reveled in the mountainous terrain, but he, Optimus and the other two brothers found themselves holding up a huge rock dropped onto them by Megatron. Fortunately Skid-Z himself turned up and destroyed the rock, allowing them to chase Megatron off. Skid Z's Choice

X-Brawn was the first Autobot to be towed away by Tow-Line after the latter was reprogrammed by the Predacons. He used his grappling hook to try to get free, but only succeeded in jarring Tow-Line's circuits, confusing the tow truck into taking him to the wrong place and dropping him down a pit. He was joined by Side Burn and Rapid Run, and the trapped trio made some unsuccessful attempts to escape before they were rescued by a repaired Tow-Line and fought the Predacons once more. Tow-Line Goes Haywire

When the Predacons became convinced that the "Cave of the Dragon" harboured a powerful Transformer, X-Brawn and Prowl guarded it. All three brothers employed their acting skills to try to make the Predacons think that the disguises Optimus and Team Bullet Train were wearing were a giant transforming robot, and got fired on by Railspike for their trouble. The Ultimate Robot Warrior Called in to the Autobot Base, X-Brawn and the rest of the Autobots watched footage of their old adventures and speculated on where the Predacon base might be located. Hope for the Future

Optimus and the Autobot brothers went to Castle Peak to investigate what turned out to be a crashed Autobot spacecraft. Unfortunately they were unable to prevent Megatron stealing the six protoforms inside and taking them to a nearby military base where the protoforms were reformatted into Decepticon warriors. The Decepticons While subsequently on patrol near Sherman Dam, X-Brawn stumbled on the Decepticons and opened fire, only to be tossed into the lake behind the dam by Scourge. Proving unable to swim, he sank to the bottom and was eventually joined by his two brothers for a game of underwater "I Spy". The trio were freed when the Decepticons blew a hole in the dam and, in the ensuing fight, they aided Rail Racer in fighting off Ruination. Commandos

X-Brawn was enjoying a spot of off-roading on a fine, sunny day when he stumbled on Sky-Byte and his three Predacon cohorts drawing a huge Megatron image in the ground. Outnumbered, he hastily returned returned to base. There, T-AI had just discovered that a recently-launched space shuttle was actually Movor—the Decepticon was tracking Autobots in the hope one of them would lead him to the Autobot base. X-Brawn contacted Side Burn, currently in the process of being tracked, and told him the red sports car he was chasing was at Pier 7B. When Side Burn arrived at the pier with the Decepticons on his tail, the Autobots were ready to pounce. Attack from Outer Space

Mega-Octane met with Optimus claiming that the Decepticons had rediscovered their Autobot sides. Although the Autobot brothers were sceptical, they babysat the Decepticons who were forced to do all manner of menial tasks. The brother finally admitted that perhaps the six Decepticons were honest after all. Of course, it wasn't long before the plot was revealed and the brothers were alerted to a brawl between Optimus, Scourge and Ruination. The Test (episode)

The three brothers were called to a power plant where they chased off Sky-Byte and the Predacons. Later X-Brawn was once again acting as Kelly's mode of transport when he was "bushwhacked" by the four Predacons, who surrendered the information that Scourge was going to raid the Bayshore power plant. Rushing there with his brothers, X-Brawn was soon notified by T-AI that the Decepticons had actually attacked the Crestline power plant instead. The three brothers rushed to the correct plant to find the Decepticons had already been seen off by Rail Racer. The Fish Test

Sent to a diamond mine, the three brothers were brought up short by an incomplete space bridge, and were introduced to the Build Team. Keen to prove themselves in battle the Build Team took over the mission at the mine. Wedge's Short Fuse Shortly afterwards, X-Brawn had another narrow escape from the Decepticons, nipping into the space bridge at the last moment. This event drove the Decepticons to locate the control system for the space bridge and sabotage it - the next time X-Brawn tried to use it, he ended up on the top of a building. A second attempt deposited him in the middle of a desert. The Global Space Bridge was eventually repaired, and X-Brawn arrived in the Arctic, where Landfill fought off Megatron. Landfill (episode)

After being duped out of stolen oil by the Build Team, the Decepticons began attacking construction equipment. X-Brawn turned up to one such attack only for the Commandos to leave as soon as he arrived. A second attempt to confront the Decepticons had the three Autobot Brothers turn up in the middle of nowhere — the Build Team had sabotaged the Global Space Bridge so they could confront the Decepticons alone. A Test of Metal

While attempting to stop the Decepticons raiding an oil refinery, the three brothers were interrupted by a mysterious Autobot car carrier, who argued with them as the Decepticons escaped. Later they encountered the Autobot again and this time he scrambled their circuits and deposited them in a junk yard. Once they'd recovered, Optimus called them back to base for a systems check. Ultra Magnus (episode) Optimus confronted the Autobot named Ultra Magnus, himself and was soon overpowered. The Autobot Brothers rescued him from the battlefield and took him to an island to recuperate. A short time later, Optimus was attacked by the Decepticons, and the brothers found the portal at the end of the space bridge had been blocked by Sky-Byte. They eventually broke through only to witness Optimus and Ultra Magnus combining into Omega Prime for the first time. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!
Tracking Ultra Magnus, the Autobot Brothers spied him talking with Sky-Byte and assumed he was betraying them. The trio soon found themselves captured by the Predacons and were promptly freed by Magnus, who informed them he was pretending to defect in order to gain information. Returning to help Optimus against the Predacons, the three brothers found themselves being beaten on by Megatron. All three of them received a sudden power boost which was somehow channelled through Magnus, powering them up and enabling them to fight off the Predacons, with a little help from Omega Prime. The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus Some time later X-Brawn was sent to join his two brothers who were suffering an odd power drain and on the losing end of a fight with the Decepticons. X-Brawn joined in by kicking Ruination in the head. Once Optimus arrived, X-Brawn was able to carry his exhausted brothers to safety. Power to Burn!

The Autobot Brothers were sent to guard the subway below Metro City as the Build Team was searching for some mysterious ruins. The trio were confronted by the Decepticons, come to find the same ruins, and left them to the tender mercies of Team Bullet Train. Wandering further, they encountered Ultra Magnus and Side Burn was distracted by a hallucination of red sports cars, leading the group to the ruins themselves. Fortress Maximus (episode) To their surprise the ruins turned out to be Fortress Maximus, whom the Autobots set about concealing in Metro City. While patrolling to ensure the operation wasn't uncovered, the Autobot Brothers stumbled on Sky-Byte talking to Koji and confronted the shark. Koji discovered that the pod Sky-Byte had been carrying contained his abducted father and interrupted the fight to tell the Autobots that Sky-Byte had rescued his dad. The three brothers apologised to Sky-Byte, who realised his huge blunder and fled in panic. Koji Gets His Wish

Doctor Onishi and T-AI quickly worked out a way to locate the remaining O-Parts needed and soon the Autobot Brothers were locked in competition with the Build Team to find the most of the artefacts. Side Burn was particularly competitive and, when he was depressed at losing the competition, X-Brawn cheered him up by pointing out an approaching red car. A Friendly Contest Back in the Autobot base, T-AI merged with the O-Parts. She soon sent Optimus and the Autobot brothers, with Koji tagging along, to a remote part of the Sahara desert in search of the Orb of Sigma. The foursome located the Orb under the desert and fought Megatron and the Decepticons for possession of it, eventually returning it to base. Peril from the Past

With information extracted from the Orb, the brothers and Build Team visited a temple from which they extracted Cerebros, the control robot for Fortress Maximus. They were confronted on exiting the temple by the Decepticons and Predacons who stole Cerebros. T-AI was unimpressed at the loss and berated X-Brawn at length. The Autobots were forced to go on the defensive against the Decepticons and guard Maximus' hiding place. Scourge managed to activate Maximus anyway, and the giant was only stopped by the intervention of Koji Onishi. Maximus Emerges

Scourge attempted to control Maximus in the desert by magnifying the human portion of his bio-signature. Again Optimus and the Autobot Brothers rushed there. While Side Burn looked after Koji and his Dad, X-Brawn and Prowl charged Ruination who swiftly defeated them. Maximus was subsequently halted by the arrival of the Build Team and Team Bullet Train with a thousand children. The Human Element Having thwarted one attempt by Scourge and Mega-Octane to kidnap Koji, the brothers were assigned to guard him. Koji wasn't keen on being guarded and swapped clothing with his friend Karl, leading to Karl being kidnapped by the Decepticons in another attempt to control Maximus. Optimus and the Autobot Brothers were able to rescue Karl and retrieve Cerebros into the bargain. Mistaken Identity

When the Decepticons located and attacked Autobot headquarters, the Autobots led them into a trap and engaged them in a fierce battle. The arrival of Galvatron's Megastar turned the tide in the Decepticons favour, until the Autobots were able to activate Fortress Maximus and destroy the battle station. Surprise Attack! Galvatron, however, was not through and began to drain energy from Fortress Maximus. The brothers attempted to shoot him down without success. After Galvatron managed to use cyber-bats to control Earth's children, Omega Prime called a retreat, but the Autobots were followed into the space bridge by the Decepticons. Galvatron saw this as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, and flooded the tunnel with molten lava. The Autobots, with the help of some urging from Koji, were able to escape the lava and confront Galvatron once more. Galvatron's Revenge The Autobots soon found themselves on the losing end of the battle, and shielded Optimus long enough for their leader to find Ultra Magnus and form Omega Prime. During the final confrontation between Galvatron and Prime, the rest of the Autobots were all held paralysed but provided Prime with moral support.

After Galvatron's defeat, X-Brawn treated himself to some off-roading. The Final Battle (RID)
: There are several small but significant differences between the original Takara release (Wild Ride) of the toy and Hasbro's later release. Hasbro's added the Autobot sigil to his vehicle-mode hood, rounded the "blade-missile" a bit more for safety reasons, and modified the lamps to make him less blatantly a Mercedes and avoid licensing fees.
When contacted by T-AI and informed that Megatron was attacking New York, the first thing Prowl did was fetch his younger brother Side Burn, who was chasing red sports cars as usual. Joining X-Brawn, they used the Global Space Bridge to reach New York, where they engaged the Predacons in combat. The Autobot Brothers were later assigned to intercept the Predacons, who were prowling Metro City and stealing batteries from cars. Prowl again interrupted Side Burn's red sports car hunt to point out that he was supposed to be patrolling. The pair soon spotted Sky-Byte attacking the very sports car Side Burn had just been chasing and Prowl ended up rescuing the driver after the car was destroyed. Once X-Brawn retrieved the explosive device which Sky-Byte had been after, Prowl told him to take it to the top of the tallest structure in the city. An Explosive Situation
Assigned to protect the Linear RFG bullet train, the Autobot Brothers found themselves tangling with the Predacons who were trying to blow up a rail bridge on the train's path.
On another mission, Optimus joined the Autobot Brothers at the end of the Global Space Bridge, which was terminated some distance short of a ship under attack by Predacons. Prowl used his jet boosters in vehicle mode in order to try to jump out to the stricken vessel, but fell somewhat short and spent most of the battle reaching the target location. Once there he gave the repaired ship the final nudge to return it to an even keel. The Hunt for Black Pyramid

When Megatron and the Predacon trio attacked Metro City, T-AI discovered that X-Brawn and Prowl were both busy out hunting for Side Burn, who was exploring some ruins with Koji. The pair eventually reached the ruins and were in time to stop Sky-Byte making off with a box, which turned out to contain Doctor Onishi's microchip. This held much valuable information and would help the Autobots greatly in the struggle to follow. The Secret of the Ruins

After having to stop Side Burn from chasing red sports cars (...again), Prowl became concerned when his brother disappeared. At the beginning of the resulting battle, Prowl used his "Jet Boosters" attack... and threw his only weapon at Megatron. That was pretty much all he did for the whole fight. Sideburn's Obsession

The brothers were assigned to protect "Grandpa", an aging steam train. In the end Team Bullet Train did most of the work protecting Grandpa, but Prowl and X-Brawn were busy stopping Side Burn from chasing red sports cars anyhow. Secret Weapon: D-5 Prowl unsuccessfully attempted to catch Skid-Z, a recently arrived Autobot, during the Europa 400. Skid-Z had scanned a racing car and become possessed by the urge to compete in races. All three brothers volunteered to enter the Great Race, which it was believed Skid-Z would compete in—Prowl enjoyed the scenery, but not the difficult driving conditions. He, Optimus and the other two brothers found themselves holding up a huge rock dropped onto them by Megatron. Fortunately Skid-Z himself turned up and destroyed the rock, allowing them to chase Megatron off. Skid Z's Choice

Another new arrival, Tow-Line was also in the law enforcement business, so Prowl took him under his wing. Unfortunately Tow-Line was over-zealous with his towing and caused Prowl no end of headaches with his antics. Finally Prowl spotted Tow-Line towing Rapid Run and realised something was seriously wrong. He lured Tow-Line by parking in the middle of an intersection, and he and Optimus found that the Autobot had been tampered with by the Predacons. After some repairs, Tow-Line led them to the three hijacked Autobots and they chased off the Predacons. Later on, as Prowl enjoyed being washed by Koji, he was suddenly towed away by Tow-Line for illegal parking...

The Ultimate Robot Warrior Called in to the Autobot Base, Prowl and the rest of the Autobots watched footage of their old adventures and speculated on where the Predacon base might be located.

The Decepticons Sent to Sherman Dam to investigate X-Brawn's disappearance, Prowl and Side Burn encountered the Decepticons and were both tossed into the lake behind the dam, at the bottom of which they were reunited with X-Brawn. The trio were freed when the Decepticons blew a hole in the dam and, in the ensuing fight, they aided Rail Racer in fighting off Ruination. Commandos

After the Decepticon Movor was shot into space, he tracked Prowl in an attempt to locate the hidden Autobot base. Unfortunately Prowl was busy chasing a criminal along with a bunch of identical police cars, and Movor lost track of which one was the Autobot. After returning to base, Prowl was briefed on what was happening, and the Autobots used Side Burn, who Movor was presently tracking, to lead the Decepticons into a trap.

Later X-Brawn was told by Sky-Byte that the Decepticons were going to raid the Bayshore power plant. The brothers rushed there, only to be told by T-AI that the Decepticons had actually attacked the Crestline power plant instead. They proceeded to the correct plant to find the Decepticons had already been seen off by Rail Racer. The Fish Test

Sent to a diamond mine, the three brothers were brought up short by an incomplete space bridge, and were introduced to the Build Team. Keen to prove themselves in battle, the Build Team took over the mission at the mine. Wedge's Short Fuse Using the Global Space Bridge some time later, Prowl found himself landing up in wet concrete and had to ask for assistance getting out. He was able to rendezvous with the other Autobots in the Arctic, where they watched Landfill fight off Megatron. Landfill (episode)

After being duped out of stolen oil by the Build Team, the Decepticons began attacking construction equipment. The Autobots attempted to stop them without involving the Build Team, but had little success. A final attempt to confront the Decepticons had the three Autobot Brothers turn up in the middle of nowhere—the Build Team had sabotaged the space bridge so they could confront the Decepticons themselves. A Test of Metal

While attempting to stop the Decepticons raiding an oil refinery, the three brothers were interrupted by a mysterious Autobot car carrier, who insulted them as the Decepticons escaped. Later they encountered the Autobot again and this time he scrambled their circuits and deposited them in a junk yard. Once they'd recovered, Optimus called them back to base for a systems check. Ultra Magnus (episode) Optimus confronted the Autobot named Ultra Magnus himself and was soon overpowered.

The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus Prowl and Side Burn went out looking for Ultra Magnus and soon found him. Tailing the Autobot, they saw him talking with Scourge and confronted him, only for him to flee and leave them to fight Scourge and Ruination. Although the two brothers powered up for battle, they began to experience an odd energy drain and had to be rescued by Optimus and X-Brawn.

Doctor Onishi and T-AI quickly worked out a way to locate the remaining O-Parts needed and the Autobot Brothers and the Build Team had a competition to find the most of the artefacts. A Friendly Contest Back in the Autobot base, T-AI merged with the O-Parts. She soon sent Optimus and the Autobot brothers, with Koji tagging along, to a remote part of the Sahara desert in search of the Orb of Sigma. The foursome located the Orb under the desert and fought Megatron and the Decepticons for possession of it, eventually returning it to base with their prize. Peril from the Past

With information extracted from the Orb, the brothers and Build Team visited a temple from which they extracted Cerebros, the control robot for Fortress Maximus. They were confronted on exiting the temple by the Decepticons and Predacons who stole Cerebros.

While Side Burn looked after Koji and his dad, X-Brawn and Prowl charged Ruination, who swiftly defeated them.

The arrival of Galvatron's Megastar turned the tide in the Decepticons' favour, until the Autobots were able to activate Fortress Maximus and destroy the battle station. Surprise Attack! Galvatron, however, was not through and began to drain energy from Fortress Maximus. The brothers attempted to shoot him down without success. After Galvatron managed to use cyber-bats to control Earth's children, Omega Prime called a retreat, but the Autobots were followed into the Global Space Bridge by the Decepticons.
When Scourge and Sky-Byte led an attack on Arizona to drain the energy out of a vague and nondescript building in the middle of the desert, T-AI tried to call upon the Autobot brothers to help, but Prowl, Side Burn and X-Brawn were busy tangling with Megatron in Oregon.
In the final battle against Unicron, the Chaos Bringer began to dissolve below them just as the Children of Primus' victory was achieved. To save themselves, Primal led his troops (presumably) back to Cybertron through a transwarp portal.
: Robots in Disguise Prowl transforms into a Lamborghini Diablo police highway pursuit vehicle. As with the original Prowl, he is painted in Japanese police ministry colors. Unusually for non-vintage transformers at the time, he has rubber tires over silver vacuum-metalized wheels.

: In robot mode, Prowl is armed with two pressure-launch missile launchers with two flame-shaped projectiles. These launchers are mounted upon his right arm in robot mode, but can also be mounted on his sirens, to form a sort of jetpack. In vehicle mode, they can be mounted on two pegs located on his spoiler.

: Early versions of Mach Alert (the Takara release) used an almost completely transparent colorless plastic for its windows and flame missiles, with semi-transparent paint on the flames. Later releases used a darker clear-plastic with brighter, more opaque flame-paint. This version was used by Hasbro for their release, but made the additional change of adding an Autobot faction symbol to his hood.
The toy retains all of its gimmicks from the first version.

* Based on Prowl's law enforcement activities in car form, he appears to have official standing in the Metro City police (or at least his car mode does). This is especially notable in "Attack from Outer Space", where he joins a police chase, announces his callsign as "unit 3", and calls in a request for further back up.

* Prowl's strict, by-the-rulebook persona is in amusing contrast with his English voice actor Wankus's um... profession. Ahem. Well, he doesn't do anything illegal, but some folks probably want it to be.
:Side Burn is an Autobot from Robots in Disguise continuity.

Side Burn is an adolescent speedster and turbo-revving young punk. His brain development has yet to catch up with his ego and robo-hormones, and if he gets bored or preoccupied he'll wander away from his assignment or get in the way of someone else's without a second thought. This is particularly annoying to his law-abiding brother Prowl and the fussbudget Autobot computer known as T-AI. Even the more easygoing X-Brawn can grow tired of his antics. They're no fun anyway, and he can always outrun them. He can outrun just about everybody and everything except his own foolishness.

His greatest folly is his fixation on red cars. Transformer or not, sentient or not, he can't resist chasing after a pretty little thing of the red persuasion, proclaiming loudly and often his libidinous designs. This is usually a bad idea, and occasionally a very bad idea, like that one time the red car turned out to be Megatron in drag. Yikes. His "super" redeco was red. It's best not to think about it.

Side Burn is a good talker as well as a good racer. He can tell a real tearjerker of a story if he's in the mood. Ask Slapper about it some time.

As usual, Side Burn was chasing a red sports car when Megatron attacked New York City. So engrossed was he that Prowl had to interrupt him to answer T-AI's summons to the Global Space Bridge. The three brothers reached New York where Side Burn commented that he'd forgotten how ugly the Predacons were, and proceeded to see off Dark Scream with a missile. The battle ultimately ended with Megatron abducting Koji's father, Doctor Onishi. Battle Protocol!

The Autobot Brothers were later assigned to intercept the Predacons, who were prowling Metro City and stealing batteries from cars. Prowl again interrupted Side Burn's red sports car hunt to point out that he was supposed to be patrolling. The pair soon spotted Sky-Byte attacking the very sports car Side Burn had just been chasing and his heart was broken when the car was subsequently destroyed. An Explosive Situation

Assigned to protect the Linear RFG bullet train, the Autobot Brothers found themselves tangling with the Predacons, who were trying to blow up a rail bridge on the train's path. Ultimately they were unable to save the bridge, but the train was saved by Team Bullet Train. Bullet Train to the Rescue Together with Optimus Prime, the brothers protected a Plutonium Energy Generator from the Predacons. They escorted the generator as it was transported across the city the next day, with Prowl becoming increasingly exasperated by Side Burn's endless complaining. They were brought to a halt by a traffic jam engineered by Slapper. Fortunately the Spy Changers were able to lend a hand and the Autobot Brothers got to sit back and watch the Predacons' defeat. Spychangers to the Rescue

On another mission, Optimus joined the Autobot Brothers at the end of the Global Space Bridge, which was terminated some distance short of a ship under attack by Predacons. Side Burn was the first to attempt to jump out to the ship... but chickened out at the last moment. After Prowl and Optimus made their attempts, Side Burn hitched a ride with X-Brawn and provided protection while his older brother repaired the stricken ship. The Hunt for Black Pyramid

To help cheer Koji up, Side Burn took the boy on a visit to some ruins. The pair soon found themselves tangling with Sky-Byte, who was also exploring the ruins, and were forced to get higher in order to radio the other Autobots to alert them to the problem. Side Burn's brothers stopped Sky-Byte escaping with a box which turned out to contain Doctor Onishi's microchip. This held much valuable information and would help the Autobots greatly in the struggle to follow. The Secret of the Ruins

The Predacons finally hatched a trap—Megatron disguised himself as a red sports car and lured Side Burn to a junk yard where the Autobot was captured and tied up by the other Predacons. Slapper asked him why he liked red sports cars, and he spun a tale of lost love when he was just a young tricycle. Unfortunately the kidnapping lured Optimus Prime to the car crushing plant where Side Burn was being held, and the Autobot leader was also captured. The pair were soon rescued by X-Brawn, Prowl and the Spy Changers, and fought off the Predacons. Though Side Burn announced he'd learnt his lesson, a few minutes later he was chasing another red sports car. Sideburn's Obsession

The brothers were assigned to protect "Grandpa", an ageing steam train. In the end Team Bullet Train did most of the work protecting Grandpa, but Prowl and X-Brawn were busy stopping Side Burn from chasing red sports cars anyhow. Secret Weapon: D-5 All three brothers volunteered to enter the Great Race in order to try and find Skid-Z, a recently arrived Autobot who had scanned a racing car and become possessed by the urge to compete in races. Side Burn attempted to chat up a red sports car at the starting line, only to realise it was Sky-Byte when it talked back. Once the race began, Skid-Z failed to show up—but the Predacons did, and Optimus and the three brothers found themselves holding up a huge rock dropped onto them by Megatron. Fortunately Skid-Z himself finally turned up and destroyed the rock, allowing them to chase Megatron off. Skid Z's Choice

Side Burn was parked happily ogling a red sports car in a showroom when he was abruptly towed away, protesting the whole time. Once Prowl had released him, he was introduced to the tow truck—the recently arrived Autobot Tow-Line. A few hours later, Side Burn was back ogling cars (though disappointingly the red car had been replaced with a yellow one) and was towed again by Tow-Line. This time, however, the other Autobot had been brainwashed by the Predacons and was carrying out their bidding. Side Burn found himself dumped into a pit at a power plant along with X-Brawn and Rapid Run. The trapped trio made some unsuccessful attempts to escape before they were rescued by a repaired Tow-Line and fought the Predacons once more. Tow-Line Goes Haywire

When the Predacons became convinced that the "Cave of the Dragon" harboured a powerful Transformer, the three brothers employed their acting skills to try to make the Predacons think that the disguises Optimus and Team Bullet Train were wearing were a giant transforming robot, and got fired on by Railspike for their trouble. The Ultimate Robot Warrior Called in to the Autobot Base, Side Burn and the rest of the Autobots watched footage of their old adventures and speculated on where the Predacon base might be located.

Commandos

After the Decepticon Movor was shot into space, he tracked the Autobots in an attempt to locate the hidden Autobot base. Side Burn was, of course, doing some tracking of his own—Kelly's sports car to be exact—and led the Decepticons on a merry chase. Informed by X-Brawn that the love of his life was waiting at Pier 7B, Side Burn raced there to find the other Autobots waiting to spring a trap on the Decepticons who were still tailing him. Attack from Outer Space

Mega-Octane met with Optimus, claiming that the Decepticons had rediscovered their Autobot sides. The Autobot brothers were skeptical, so Side Burn came up with the bright idea of testing their honesty by forcing them to do all manner of menial tasks. After watching them all day, the brothers finally admitted that perhaps the six Decepticons were honest after all. Of course, it wasn't long before the plot was revealed and the brothers were alerted to a brawl between Optimus, Scourge and Ruination. The Test (episode)

The three brothers were called to a power plant where they chased off Sky-Byte and the Predacons. Later X-Brawn was told by Sky-Byte that the Decepticons were going to raid the Bayshore power plant. The brothers rushed there only to be told by T-AI that the Decepticons had actually attacked the Crestline power plant instead. They proceeded to the correct plant to find the Decepticons had already been seen off by Rail Racer. The Fish Test

Sent to a diamond mine, the three brothers were brought up short by an incomplete Global Space Bridge, and were introduced to the Build Team. Keen to prove themselves in battle, the Build Team took over the mission at the mine. Wedge's Short Fuse Using the space bridge some time later, Side Burn ended up first on an island in the middle of a lake, and then in the middle of an indoor go-kart track, due to Decepticon sabotage. He was eventually able to rendezvous with the other Autobots in the Arctic, where they watched Landfill fight off Megatron.

Ultra Magnus (episode) Optimus confronted the Autobot named Ultra Magnus, himself and was soon overpowered. The Autobot Brothers rescued him from the battlefield and took him to an island to recuperate. Side Burn kept Optimus company for a while, and learned that Magnus was the Autobot leader's brother.

All three of them received a sudden power boost which was somehow channeled through Magnus, powering them up and enabling them to fight off the Predacons, with a little help from Omega Prime. Power to Burn!

The Autobot Brothers were sent to guard the subway below Metro City as the Build Team was searching for some mysterious ruins. The trio were confronted by the Decepticons, come to find the same ruins, and left them to the tender mercies of Team Bullet Train. Wandering further, they encountered Ultra Magnus, and Side Burn was distracted by a hallucination of red sports cars, leading the group to the ruins themselves.

Side Burn and Wedge were especially competitive and Side Burn was depressed when his team lost. At least until X-Brawn pointed out the approaching red jeep driven by Kelly.

With information extracted from the Orb, the brothers and the Build Team visited a temple from which they extracted Cerebros, the control robot for Fortress Maximus. They were confronted on exiting the temple by the Decepticons and Predacons who stole Cerebros.

At Koji's insistence, Side Burn carried the boy closer to try to command Maximus to stop, but Koji was unable to override Scourge's control.

After Galvatron's defeat, Side Burn returned to chasing red sports cars and being told off by Prowl. The Final Battle (RID)

Megatron eventually fled the battle and Side Burn arrived to help Optimus, only to find the conflict resolved. Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?
: A Wal-Mart exclusive, Universe Side Burn is the exact same toy as Super Side Burn, however black paint was added over the red on the car mode parts (though the bumpers are still red), and a fiberglass pattern was added to the hood, along with a giant Autobot insignia on the car roof. The gun/knife was also dechromed and was cast in silver plastic. Also, the Dodge Viper logo was added to the front of the car, as it had been for both Shadow Striker and Roulette. The differences between both figures stopped there.

Notes
* Side Burn's original Japanese name, "Speedbreaker," is a synonym for "speed bump". It's unknown if the irony was intentional.

* He pursues a woman for hours and hours wherever she goes, despite her clear objections. Thinking about this for more than two seconds will make you feel all dirty inside, and you just have. (Just think, a different show and this would be presented as romantic.)

* The alternate mode of Side Burn seems to be downgraded in horsepower, since there are eight exhaust pipes connecting to his engine block (which are clearly seen whenever he is in robot mode), indicating that his power comes from an eight cylinder engine, rather than the V-10 engine all regular Dodge Vipers have. Which is probably why he can never catch Kelly's little red sportscars.

* In the "Bee in the City" script-reading at 2008, Beast Wars Megatron mistakenly calls Animated Bumblebee "Side Burn", as part of a running gag where the kid-appeal 'bot is called by various other kid-appeal-bot names from the Transformers franchise's long history.

* Super Speedbreaker/Side Burn's vehicle mode served as an inspiration for the Earthen car design adopted by Hot Rod in the Devastation segment of the IDW continuity.

*The Universe Side Burn toy matches the description of the Side Burn from the "Shattered Glass" continuity, who may or may not be this Side Burn. Though he speaks like a mirrorverse Side Burn would (gently ranting against "undue attention to females"), there are other indicators that he's not exactly what he seems. He hasn't been with the Autobots long, he already had an Earth mode, and so far he's one of the few characters who aren't based on someone from the Generation 1 continuity (the others being Crasher and Demolishor). At the end of the Universe conflict he was last seen being tossed into a transwarp portal by Omega Prime (who, in turn, was sent not to his own home timeline but to a Unicron Trilogy universe).
