==Species==
Regarding:Tigatron (Siberian tiger)

From Wikipedia "The existence of pure White Siberian Tiger has not been scientifically proven, despite occasional reports of sightings of white tigers in the regions where wild Siberian Tigers live. It is quite possible that the gene for white coating does not exists in the Siberian Tiger population, since no pure White Siberian Tigers have been born in captivity even though the Siberian Tiger has been extensively breed during the last decades. The wild Siberian Tiger population was near extinct during the middle of the 20th century, so it is also possible that the Siberian Tigers carrying the gene for white coating died out during this period. More research is necessary before we can fully understand the genetic make up of the Siberian Tiger."
I was under the impression that the "standard" BW toys were released in '96 and '97, and that the Fuzors and Transmetals weren't released until '98. Either that, or the International Tec Spec archive was wrong on release years. --[[User:FortMax|FortMax]] 22:38, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
One is a political body that's part of the Predacon allience, compossed of the three non-Autobot-or-Decepticon-decended members.

The other is the gestalt super-robot that the three may or may not be able to form.
== Wasp/Hornet ==

To put this to rest:
:Hornets are the largest eusocial wasps, reaching up to 45 millimetres (1.8 inches) in length. The true hornets make up the genus Vespa, and are distinguished from other vespines by the width of the vertex (part of the head behind the eyes), which is proportionally larger in Vespa; and by the anteriorly rounded gasters (the section of the abdomen behind the wasp waist). See wasp and bee characteristics to help identify an insect. (Wikipedia on [[wikipedia:Hornet|hornets]])
And to clarify, [[Waspinator]] is a [[wikipedia:European Hornet|European Hornet]], which does not invalidate his name as hornets are definitely wasps.

Meanwhile, [[Buzz Saw]] is a [[wikipedia:Yellowjacket|Yellowjacket Wasp]]. The body types are quite similar, so it's not out of the question for a redeco of one to be the other.--[[User:Rosicrucian|Rosicrucian]] 00:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

:I vote for "wasp" on the grounds that Hasbro said "wasp". The early BW toys are not accurate enough, IMO, to particular animal types to really classify them as anything other than Hasbro Says It Is This. For an example, I point to Cheetor, and his redeco Tigatron.

:Also, I vote that in that light, this arguement is ridiculous. --[[User:Sntint|Sntint]] 09:05, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

::I agree with Sntint. Just use wasp for both. If you really care that much about it, Rosi, just put a trivia entry about it on Waspinator's own page. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 20:59, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

==Summary==
[[Image:BW_MasterBlaster_PrimalflattenWaspy.jpg|thumb|150px|left|A bug in the hand is worth...uh, washing up afterward.]]

Silverbolt dutifully patrols the Maximals' fortified entrance to [[Mount St. Hilary]]. Megatron, trying another attack on the Maximals' base, sends sub-commander Waspinator with a large explosive (from...somewhere) to destroy the patrolling Fuzor. Waspinator delivers the missile and destroys Silverbolt's gunning turret, and when Primal, Cheetor, and Rattrap rush outside to defend their home, Waspinator commands a full attack. But without support from additional troops, Waspinator is quickly crushed by Primal.

Hiding out of Primal's sight, Tarantulas blows a dart that burrows itself into Primal's foot, crawls through the Maximal leader's interior machinery, and accesses Primal's own spark. Primal disregards the infection, tells Cheetor to "take a rest" with a suspiciously Western drawl, and punches out the young Maximal.

[[Image:BW_MasterBlaster_Primalsparkhijack.jpg|thumb|right|150px|Once these things dig in, only a special shampoo can get them out.]]

Blackarachnia returns to the Maximal base, surprised by the open doors. She finds the entire interior dark. Primal sneaks up on the arachnid, and when she reveals that Depth Charge isn't with her, he grabs her as if she were a toy. With the widow restrained, Megatron and his crones step out of the darkness. Quickstrike is revealed to be controlling Optimus by piloting a large, mechanical suit of similar form to Primal's body. The other Maximals are being kept deactivated in a hanging cage.

[[Image:BW_MasterBlaster_Megs_spark.jpg|thumb|left|150px|Ye haw, ride 'em, cowboy!]]

Meanwhile, Quickstrike uses Primal's body to give Megatron access to the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s interior. Megatron walks through the halls of the ship to find what he's looking for: his namesake [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. The Predacon leader opens his own chest, and a tentacle reaches out of it to access the [[spark]] of his predecessor. After a bit of struggle, Megatron takes both sparks into his body. While Megatron convulses from the pain of containing two sparks, Quickstrike, who is secretly working for Tarantulas, dumps his leader into one of the lava pits outside.

[[Image:BW_MasterBlaster_Megshand.jpg|thumb|150px|right|[[Wikipedia:Terminator 2: Judgment Day|I'll]] be back.]]

Blackarachnia is left in the care of [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]], who delights in causing her pain, but she overpowers the massive Transmetal crab by using her telekinesis to knock him down with a steel girder. She sneaks through the base, then leads Inferno away from the Maximals he's supposed to be protecting and locks him outside so she can free her team.

Quickstrike gives Tarantulas access to [[Teletraan I]]. Tarantulas then sends Quickstrike away to destroy the Maximals while he rigs the ''Ark'' to explode, which will kill all Autobots and Decepticons within it. As Tarantulas leaves the ''Ark'', Megatron emerges from the lava, now reconfigured into a dragon form by his plunge into the molten rock and the additional spark within him. Megatron burns the spider who betrayed him and tosses Tarantulas into a distant lava pool as punishment for failing.

Quickstrike, still piloting his armor, finds Blackarachnia and double-teams her using Optimus's body, which is still under his control. But with a well-placed blast, she causes the two giants to fall over each other. The fall frees Optimus, who remembers what he did under Quickstrike's control, and he and Blackarachnia head back into the Ark to prevent the devastation.

[[Image:BW_MasterBlaster_Megsflame.jpg|thumb|left|150px|Oh, this is really bold! So bold, it's not fit for human consumption!]]

Megatron finds Optimus, and the two enhanced transformers battle. While Blackarachnia tries to save the ''Ark'', Megatron shows off his new abilities against his most hated enemy. Blackarachnia saves the ''Ark'' with just a single second to spare. Optimus is then saved from Megatron by the combined firepower of the other Maximals, who force Megatron to retreat. But with the spark of the original Megatron still in his possession, Megatron has gained a new advantage in the Beast Wars.
==Other Notes==
* Although the toy is a [[Transmetal 2]] and has detailing consistent with the other Transmetal 2 figures, within the context of the story, Megatron's upgrade has not related to the [[Transmetal driver]] and never called a Transmetal 2 in the series. The stylistic difference from "Optimal Optimus" can be attributed to the lava, which Megatron likely wouldn't have survived had he not been in the process of being upgraded, as falling into lava killed [[Terrorsaur]] and [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]].

===Animation Errors===
* When Megatron says "Six little Maximals...", his face is black instead of purple.

===Continuity errors===
* It is unclear why Tarantulas and Quickstrike expected (''Beast Wars'') Megatron to expire in the lava, given Tarantulas suffers the same fate, but immediately climbs out of the lava moments later. Although it's possible that throwing Megatron into lava was just Quickstrike's idea.
* Megatron is not shown putting Generation 1 Megatron's spark back in its body. Even at the end of the series, the spark was never shown again, nor was it even mentioned that it had been replaced. There is only Primal's statement that "all is as it should be" (made in "[[Nemesis Part 2]]") to go on. However, the spark's replacement ''was'' written into the "Nemesis" script and even animated{{m-}}it was simply cut for time from the final episode. A clip of this animation can be seen on BWTF.com's [http://bwtf.com/bw/tvshow/episodes/seasonthree/nem2/ page for this episode] and was included as an extra in Kid Rhino's DVD release of ''Beast Wars'' season 3.
* What is kind of odd is that Teletraan I counts down in clicks, which during the Beast Wars is a distant of measurement with cycles being the unit of time. It is unlikely that the measurements for time and distance would change within the 300 years after the Great War. But the writers might have gotten the units confused and didn't pay attention to it.
* The computer that Blackarachnia uses seems to have been designed for human-size figures, rather then the larger Autobot occupants.

===Transformers references===
* Well, there ''is'' [[Megatron (G1)|the original Megatron]], but he's only in [[stasis lock]].
* The bomb that Waspinator is holding at the start of the episode looks like Galvatron's fusion cannon.
* Blackarachnia (after saying "I can play your game too") saves the day by uploading "datatrax Viron" into Teletran-1, which is the same datatrax Tarantulas used against the [[Metal Hunter]].

===Real-world references===
* Megatron counts "Six little Maximals, I've almost collected the whole set!" several Transformer fans collect the [[Beast Wars (toyline)|toys]] - and many fans make a point to collect specifically the toys of characters appearing on the show.

* While revealing himself in his new form, Megatron cries out "Enter the dragon!", which is also the title of a [[Wikipedia:Enter the Dragon|Bruce Lee movie]].

* The title of the episode, "Master Blaster", is also the title of an old computer game, and a song by Stevie Wonder. However, it's clear from context that it primarily refers to the dwarf/giant duo from ''[[Wikipedia:Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome|Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome]]''.

===Trivia===

* The power-suit frame used by Quickstrike in this episode is later used by the [[Vok]] to create [[Primal Prime]] in the BotCon ''Wreckers'' storyline. {{storylink|Primeval Dawn Part 1}}

* This episode establishes that there are other equally powerful sparks; Prime's not being the only one. (see properties of spark).

* In an early version of episode's plot, Megatron decided to steal and absorb the original Megatron's spark only after failing at another attempt to kill [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]].<ref>[[Beast Wars Universe]] ISBN 978-4766938005</ref>

==Overview==
The series opens at an unspecified time and place, where two warring factions of robots have crashed on a strange planet populated by animals like those on [[Earth]]. The planet abounds in mystery, with vast deposits of raw [[Energon]] and evidence of [[Vok|alien]] activity. The Energon forces the newly arrived Transformers to take on protective beast forms to shield themselves from the ambient Energon radiation. And so begin the Beast Wars...

[[Image:Beastwarsmaxgroup.jpg|thumb|left|300px|Rattrap and Airazor conspire to ruin school picture day.]]
Though at first the show seemed to be in an entirely separate continuity, by the end of the first season's 26 episodes, viewers had been treated to a number of classical Transformers references, such as [[Unicron]] and even the reappearance of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], last seen as a ghost in the third season of [[Generation 1 (cartoon)|the original cartoon]]. These ties to the original story increased as the second season progressed and the planet was revealed as prehistoric Earth. The third season was entirely structured around the [[Maximal]]s defending their [[Autobot]] ancestors aboard the ancient crashed ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]''.

The show won over many viewers through fun, intriguing stories and generally high production values. Strong characterization, top-notch scripting and voice acting, and complex, overarching plot threads are among the reasons cited for the show's enduring popularity. Some of the show's mysteries and machinations remain topics for fan debate over a decade after it aired.

The show's CGI, though somewhat primitive by today's standards, was revolutionary by television standards of the time (and puts [[Energon (cartoon)|some later shows]] to [[Cybertron (cartoon)|shame]]). Mainframe's animators took pains to ensure their characters gestured and emoted in great detail, and the "camera" work often took creative advantage of the format's flexibility.

The show was immediately followed by a sequel series, ''[[Beast Machines (cartoon)|Beast Machines]]''.
{{-}}

==Episodes==
{{main|List of Beast Wars episodes}}

''Beast Wars'' has had 52 episodes over 3 seasons.

In Japan it was split into 2 separate 26 episode series, ''Beast Wars'' which aired in 1997 and ''Beast Wars Metals'' which aired in 1999.

==Characters==
Because developing new CGI character models was, at the time, an expensive and time-consuming process, the number of on-screen characters in ''Beast Wars'' was relatively small compared to most other ''Transformers'' shows. It is thus practical to list all the Transformers who appeared in the cartoon. They are listed in order of appearance. (The [[stasis lock]]ed [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s aboard the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' are not on this list, nor is [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]].) Note that many characters besides these are also full-fledged ''Beast Wars'' characters, having appeared in other media.
==Japanese version==

For whatever reason the Japanese version of ''Beast Wars'' chose to turn the series into a goofy comedy show with lots of fourth-wall humor and a relentless string of over-the-top and in-your-face jokes, even at the most ''inappropriate'' of moments.

Some examples include:

*The beginning of every episode would start with one of the characters asking a ridiculous question and receiving equally ridiculous answers (Optimus Primal asking "Where is my banana", for instance) before segueing into the opening rap theme by [[Banana Ice]].

*Rattrap would constantly break the fourth wall by "smelling" what the audience was eating and make gluttonous comments.

*Many characters received completely new personalities that were polar opposites to their Western interpretation (Depth Charge enjoyed singing folk songs while Megatron became a flamboyant madman that shrieked like a little girl at the sight of danger). Other characters had their ''genders'' altered (poor, poor Airazor).

*Clipshows would feature the characters interacting in silly situations such as gameshows and contests (in one instance, Megatron acted as judge in a celebrity impersonation contest).

While many long-time ''Transformers'' fans in Japan reviled this dub (including [[Hirofumi Ichikawa]]) it remained a hit with its target audience: young children. This version of ''Beast Wars'' was popular enough to spawn two equally goofy-natured spin-offs and two Japanese-exclusive theatrical releases, anyway.

It should be noted, however, that the Japanese DVD sets of the series come with optional English language dialogue with Japanese subtitles, allowing fans in Japan to view the more serious version of the show if desired.

==Trivia==
* The first season of ''Beast Wars'' cost $18 million dollars, according to [http://groups.google.com/group/alt.toys.transformers/browse_thread/thread/b334d45514e26ab4/bc8e54e9165e0823?hl=en&lnk=st&q=bob+forward+interview+inferno+megatron&rnum=1#bc8e54e9165e0823 a 1997 interview with Bob Forward.]
* According to [http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-CLUB_%28%E6%A8%A1%E5%9E%8B%E9%9B%91%E8%AA%8C%29 B-Club magazine], Beast Wars is the first fully CGI TV-show in the world. Too bad they don't know [[W:ReBoot|ReBoot]] is much earlier.
* In France and Belgium, the show was called "Animutants" and had a good quality dubbing, rather close to the original voices. But while the first two seasons of the show were aired, the third one never was; the show always ended with "[[The Agenda (Part III)]]", leaving the fans of the area with the worst case of cliffhanger ever.
* The Production Designer for the show, [[Clyde Klotz]], won an Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation in 1997. How cool is that?

With sales of the [[Generation 2]] toyline proving unremarkable by 1995, [[Hasbro]] faced a choice: end the Transformers brand for a second time, or completely revamp the concept. They chose the second option, and '''Beast Wars''' was the result.

The new franchise consisted entirely of robots who transformed into beasts: insects, mammals, and more. The traditional factions of Autobot and Decepticon were replaced with heroic [[Maximal|Maximals]] and evil [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]]. Most radically, the beast modes were intended to represent fully natural and organic animals, as opposed to the "mechanical beasts" represented by the likes of G1's Dinobots and Terrorcons.

[[Image:Bwmegatron_toy.jpg|left|thumb|250px|"I can hear you. You're whistling ''Yankee Doodle Dandee''. Which is the theme song to BARNEY THE DINOSAUR!!!"]]

The Beast Wars toyline brought poseability to full fruition. Whereas G2 marketed a handful of toys as "super poseable", Beast Wars made it standard for virtually every toy. Heavy use of ball joints gave the figures unprecedented degrees of freedom -- often greater than that of a normal, non-transforming action figure. Poseability -- a rarity in the days of G1 -- became commonplace and expected after Beast Wars.

Concealed parts and weapons also became standard during Beast Wars. Again, G2 had introduced a number of toys whose [[kibble]] had a place to store when not in use, but it was Beast Wars that made it a universal feature.

[[Image:Airazorbwtoy1.jpg|right|thumb|100px|"I tawt I taw a puddy tat."]]

Beast Wars also introduced a standardized system of price points to Transformers: $5 Basics, $10 Deluxes, $15 Megas, and $20 Ultras. The price for Basics eventually rose to $7, but the system remained largely unaltered through the end of Beast Machines. Portions of the system continue to be used today (the Basics were "Scouts" during the Cybertron franchise, and the Mega has been replaced with the $20, slightly-larger "Voyager".) A rarely-seen, extra-large Super class was introduced with the Optimal Optimus toy in 1998, which was also the first Transformer toy to feature a true vehicle mode since the end of G2.

The toyline evolved over its three and a half year run. 1996–97 featured purely-organic beasts exclusively. 1998 was dominated by two sublines: [[Fuzor|Fuzors]], whose beast modes combined aspects of two different animals, and [[Transmetal|Transmetals]], which featured metallic-finished chrome and sleekly mechanical beast modes. In 1999, the Transmetal 2s were the primary offering, featuring asymetrical and often bizarrely patchwork fusions of mechanical and organic in both modes.

[[Image:Transmetal_rhinox_toy.jpg|left|thumb|200px|A kid could [[For safety reasons|poke an eye out]] with that horn.]]

Beast Wars largely ended as a toyline when Hasbro elected to revamp the franchise and re-introduce vehicular Transformers, leading to the [[Beast Machines]] toyline. Though a new franchise, Beast Machines continued many aspects of the Beast Wars toyline including a number of major characters, the Maximal faction, and beast forms that combined mechanical and organic aspects. Furthermore, the Beast Wars title would continue to grace sporadic toys such as store exclusives, convention exclusives, and a [[Beast Wars 10th Anniversary|10th anniversary line]] in 2006. And [[Beast Wars Telemocha Series|another 10th anniversary line]] for Japan in 2007.
'''Dinobot''' is a Predacon ruled by honor. He lives to die gloriously in battle. When he aided [[Megatron_(BW)|Megatron]] in the theft of the [[Golden Disk]] under the order of [[Cryotek]], Dinobot believed he was in the pursuit of endless glory. But when he and his Predacon peers crashed on what seemed to be the wrong planet alongside a Maximal exploration vessel, he rebelled against Megatron and joined the Maximal team. It would be an uneasy alliance, fraught with turns of loyalty and turns of Shakespearean phrase. But it also led to strong friendships and even the salvation of all humanity.

During the theft of the [[Golden Disk]], [[Megatron (BW)|He Who Would Be Megatron]] also scanned the historical datatrax of the [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s. He failed to notice the approaching guard until Dinobot dispatched him with his sword and insisted they speed up the operation.

Megatron and Dinobot joined [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] in escaping the archives with the Golden Disk, avoiding patrolmen [[Unit 1]] and [[Unit 2]]. They made their way to the rendezvous with the [[Darksyde]], and headed off into space to activate their transwarp drive. The [[Axalon]] and the [[Chromia 10]] took chase, but Dinobot blew the smaller ship out of the sky.
[[Image:BWDinobot_arrival.jpg|left|thumb|"Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair... wher''ever'' the hell we are."]]

When Megatron stole the Golden Disk and fled to prehistoric [[Earth]], Dinobot was among his followers. But immediately after crash-landing, Dinobot turned on his leader, claiming that he had led them to the wrong planet. {{storylink|Beast Wars (Part 1)}} Unfazed by the tirade, Megatron had Scorponok blast him, and he left Dinobot for dead.

Focused solely on Megatron's destruction, Dinobot sought out the Maximals and attempted to take command of their group.  He forced [[Optimus Primal]] into a fight to the death, which was interrupted by a Predacon attack.  After Dinobot helped the Maximals, Optimus accepted him into the fold - not as a leader, of course, but still as a valued team member.  This didn't sit well with the other Maximals, particularly [[Rattrap (BW)|Rattrap]], but over time the two became a strange sort of friends. {{storylink|Beast Wars (Part 2)}}

Dinobot provided not only brute force, but an understanding of the enemy:  When [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] infiltrated the Maximal base, Dinobot feigned a desire to team up with him and overthrow Megatron.  Lulling him into a false sense of security, Dinobot eventually took care of him with the trash disposal unit - all without firing a shot, and the other Maxies never even knew. {{storylink|Equal Measures}}

But through it all, Dinobot had only one true loyalty: to his personal sense of honor. This he described as Predacon in nature, although he often appeared far nobler than his former comrades. Still, he was really no Maximal either; his ethics stemmed from his hard, warrior outlook. Always the first to call for action, he was often the recipient of Primal's lectures. For instance, when the Maximals unexpectedly created a transporter to the [[Darksyde|Predacon base]], Dinobot demanded they send a bomb to destroy them all. Primal, however, insisted on a thirty-second timer to allow them time for evacuation, along the theory that if they lose their base, they're helpless anyway - no need to kill them outright.

[[Image:2char8.jpg |thumb|right|[http://xahlee.org/p/titus/act4s2.html "Villain, I have done thy mother."]]]

As time went on, Dinobot inevitably became attached to the Maximals (This was especially obvious in his love/hate relationship with Rattrap, and the respect shared between Optimus and himself).  When a Cybertronian probe was detected, he helped his teammates attempt to contact it, despite the fact he dreaded a return home.  After all, he was a criminal even in Predacon terms, and he had no hope for a warm Maximal reception.  {{storylink|The Probe}}  Thus, when the Maximals later thought that Megatron's band had been destroyed, Dinobot elected to remain on Earth while the Maximals repaired their ship and launched it.  However, just as Dinobot wandered off to explore the world that had become his, he stumbled across the not-so-dead Predacons, who attacked the Axalon and grounded the Maximals once again.{{storylink|Victory (Beast Wars episode)|Victory}}

Despite his increasing loyalty to the team, his violent heart occasionally created rifts.  Most notable was his reaction to [[Tigatron]]'s pacifism:  When the tiger tried to leave the Maximals in grief over the accidental death of his best friend, Dinobot argued vociferously with the "coward."  He simply could not comprehend what Tigatron was saying: that in order to stop the fighting, someone had to lay down his gun.  Dinobot could only see desertion, and for that he nearly killed Tigatron, who refused to fight back.  But Primal interrupted before any damage was done, and Tigatron later came back to battle to save Dinobot from a Predacon attack, making the whole point moot. {{storylink|Law of the Jungle}}

[[Image:Coc getshorty.jpg|thumb|left|"The course of true love never did run smooth".]]
The confrontation with Tigatron revealed more than just Dinobot's warrior ethic. He explained to Tigatron a bit of his motives for turning against Megatron: He feared that if Megatron used Earth's energon supply to wage a new war, Cybertron would burn as a result. But, of course, Dinobot had helped Megatron steal the disk in the first place, the stated goal having been to find energon. This appeared to be a contradiction (or massive change of heart) on Dinobot's part, but later revelations would fill in a larger picture.

The catalyst for these insights would be the destruction of the [[Planet Buster]] moon and most of the energon deposits, making it obvious that they were on Earth after all. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)}} Dinobot broke into the Predacon base and stole the golden disks. He gave the [[Alien Disk|Vok disk]] to [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]], but the Voyager disk he hid from both sides. He knew that it contained information about the future, and it cut to the core of his being: "If the future is indeed immutably foretold, then my demise is but moments from that confirmation, for I could not live if not the master of my fate."

[[Image:BWDinobot_decision.jpg|right|250px|thumb|"To Bay or not to Bay; that is the question, and here is the sunset"]]

His desire to discover whether the future could be changed kept him focused on Megatron's actions. When Predacon installations were placed in a Voyager-disk-like pattern, Dinobot remarked, "So, Megatron, your plan proceeds even without the disk." {{storylink|Maximal, No More}} This apparent knowledge of Megatron's plans had two implications: It explained Dinobot's original allegiance to the thief, which had nothing to do with energon-gathering. And it gave him reason to rejoin Megatron's circle as the possibility of the original plan's fruition reemerged.

Thus, he resubmitted himself to Megatron's command, but the Maximal influence still showed itself. When he was pitted in a deathmatch against [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] in a bizarre test of loyalty, Dinobot subdued his foe but refused to kill him, offering to train him instead. But Megatron accepted the prodigal son anyway, as long as he returned the Golden Disk. Dinobot complied. He admitted to himself that he might be sacrificing his own race, but "either way I will know the truth at last."

After the artifact was back in Megatron's hands, Rattrap attacked and was quickly immobilized. As a final test of allegiance, Dinobot was ordered to kill his former teammate. This task proved too much for him, and he turned once again on the Predacon leader. Megatron retreated with the disk in his possession, and it's implied that Dinobot then told Optimus about Megatron's plan to attack [[Ark (G1)|the Ark]].

After contemplating suicide and enduring Rattrap's recriminations, Dinobot decided to set things right. {{storylink|Code of Hero}} He tracked Megatron down and found him testing the Voyager disk. Megatron had discovered a mountain whose image was recorded on the disk, and he was blowing the peak up just as Dinobot arrived. From a distance, Dinobot saw his greatest hope and worst fear simultaneously: The disk's image changed. Dinobot's future was his own... but Megatron had virtually limitless power.

[[Image:Dinbot_funeral.jpg|left|thumb|"Out, out, brief spark! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor mech that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more"]]

When the Predacons launched an attack on a tribe of proto-humans, attempting to destroy the future human race, Dinobot singlehandedly took all of the Predacons on. Having already been blindsided by Tarantalus, he waded through the attack squad. Ignoring the damage he sustained, the warnings of his own internal computer, and the danger to himself, Dinobot defeated everyone save Megatron. Mocking the weakened Dinobot, Megatron tallied the score firmly in his own favor: He had unimaginable power via the disk, the valley of the proto-humans was in ruins, and he had hostages. Refusing to quit, Dinobot jammed a rock through a stick and attacked with the makeshift hammer. Megatron dropped the disk, and Dinobot blasted it to pieces with his last bit of energy. A short time after the rest of the Maximals arrived, Dinobot's spark left his frame.

He was given a hero's funeral, with his body cremated as the Maximal fliers executed a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_man_formation Missing Man formation]. His legacy remained even with the anthropoids, who found his hammer and used it as a weapon.

Dinobot died as he lived: paraphrasing Shakespeare. "Tell my tale to those who ask," his last words had been, "Tell it truly—the ill deeds along with the good—and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence."
*'''Dinobot''' (Deluxe, 1996/1997)
: ''Japanese ID number:'' '''C-4''', '''VS-4'''

[[Image:BeastWars_Dinobot_1996_toy.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Wasn't he in ''Jurassic Park''?]]

: Part of the first wave of ''Beast Wars'' product, Dinobot transforms into something kinda resembling an organic Utahraptor. His tail detaches and separates to form a gear-powered spinning-blade weapon, while the central "tail bone" separates to be used as a sword. The entire assembly can store in robot mode by flipping down the tail-mount and pegging the blade's base to the peg on his lower back. Like all early Deluxe-and-up ''Beast Wars'' toys, he has a "mutant mask", halves of a dino-skull that flip up to cover his more robotic head.

: The original Dinobots shipped on cards with "rocky"-shaped bubbles. Later (and more numerous) assortments moved to a smooth, rounded bubble, leading the first packaging type to become sought-after collectibles on the secondary market.

: In Japan, Dinobot was available both individually and in a "Vs" set with [[Tarantulas]]. This version was identical to the [[Hasbro]] version. In January 1997, Takara [[redeco]]ed many of the ''Beast Wars'' toys and re-released them in slightly more show-like tones; Dinobot actually got ''less'' tan to his dino-skin (moving further from the show model), and his helmet was painted in metallic gold. This version was also sold in a Vs set.

:It should also be noted that this and the Fox Kids redeco, as well as some other versions of this mold, had the robot mode's biceps on the wrong arms, with the skin-like texture inside and the weight-reducing cavities on the outside. Later molds, such as the 10th Anniversary release, had this error corrected.

: This mold was used to make... lots of guys. ''Beast Wars'' [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]], ''[[Dinobots (toyline)|Dinobots]]'' [[Grimlock (Dinobots)|Grimlock]], ''[[Beast Wars Neo]]'' [[Hardhead (BWN)|Hardhead]], [[Dinotron]], and [[Thrust (BWII)|Thrustor]].
*'''Dinobot''' (Happy Meal Transmetal, 1998)

: Part of the second McDonald's ''Beast Wars'' Happy Meal promotion, [[Transmetal]] Dinobot transforms into a metal velociraptor. His molding looks more like a Transmetal 2 than a normal Transmetals, though.

: This release is a redeco of the original Dinobot toy, though its "show-accuracy" is questionable at best, with an excessively dark (faintly bronzed) brown base-colour and, oddly, using blue on his kneepads, metallic green on his rib-like shin ridges, and inexplicably substituting the red interior of his rotor weapon with blue.

: ''Beast Wars 10th Anniversary'' Dinobot came with the left arm to the "build-a-bot" figure [[Trans-Mutate]], plus a DVD containing the obvious Dinobot episode, "[[Code of Hero]]".
: Part of the five-toy [[BotCon 2006]] [[exclusive]] boxed set (along with [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]], [[Optimus Primal]], [[Rattrap]] and [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]]), "Darksyde Dinobot" is a redeco of the ''[[Cybertron (franchise)|Cybertron]]'' [[Longrack (Cybertron)|Longrack]] mold, itself a [[retool]] of ''[[Armada]]'' [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Hoist]]. Dinobot uses almost all of Longrack's new-mold parts save for the head; Hoist's was a dead ringer for Dinobot in the first place. He transforms into a Cybertronic excavator. Inserting a [[Cyber Key]] or [[Golden Disk Key]] into his shoulder assembly unlocks a shovel-punch attack activated by pressing on the plunger mechanism above the key port. Like Longrack, he does ''not'' come with a [[Mini-Con]] partner (dammit).
:Celebrating Japan's (one year later than the West) 10th anniversary of ''[[Beast Wars]]'', this version of Dinobot is another redeco of the venerable tooling. While definitely more [[show-accuracy|show-accurate]] than the Hasbro 10th Anniversary version from the previous year, some of its color-scheme decisions favor the robot mode, such as bronze/gold shoulder joints. The effect of this however is to have a less consistently colored beast mode than the Hasbro version. It is worth noting that even this version lacks the medium blue used for the base of the show model's lower legs and torso (though this may be due to them being on the same sprue as his "lightpipe" and mutant helmet), so the "ultimately totally show-accurate-colored" version still has yet to be done.

: Perhaps most significant of all, however, is that this version of Dinobot ''finally'' has a mouth, though it is in the form of a paint operation, rather than a newly-sculpted head.
==Trivia==
[[Image:BWRConcept04.jpg|right|thumb|Dinobot's control art. The beast head displays a more rigid grill structure.]]

* It's been rumored that Dinobot's first toy borrowed some molding from an unproduced [[Kenner]] ''Jurassic Park'' dino. There's no evidence at all to support this, however, and it is incredibly unlikely to begin with.

[[Image:TMDinobotConcept.jpg|right|thumb|Raptor and... squatting Raptor? It's a jet powered squat, surely.]]

* An actual (IE non-McDonald's affiliated) Transmetal Dinobot apparently made it to concept art stages, but not much further. It would have been notable for having the lamest "transport mode" of all the Transmetals if produced, however. Several elements of the design were recycled on Transmetal [[Terrorsaur]].

* The [[Timelines]] "Darksyde Dinobot" color scheme is actually based on his Tenth Anniversary toy.

* Some fans humorously refer to Dinobot's spinning blade weapon as a "Rotate Blade". However, both the full-length version of the first ''Beast Wars'' toy commercial and a later commercial (starring Dinobot, Waspinator and Tarantulas) refer to the weapon as being his "spinning Veloci-Rotor blades" whereas his packaging referred to it as a "Cyberslash" weapon.

* Dinobot was second under Megatron before rebelling....probably because he was the only one who knew one end of a blaster from the other.

*It's interesting to note that almost every single character in the Beast Wars gets thrashed twice as hard as Dinobot in his final battle and yet they all came back good as new. [[Waspinator|Some]] rarely even have to bother with Stasis Lock. Funny, that.

*Dinobot's death was likely related more to energon depletion than actual damage, evidenced by his internal computer urging him into stasis lock because of a critical loss in power. The injuries he received are probably what caused this depletion, making them the indirect cause of his demise, but not the sole contributing factor.

{{nav-BW}}

:''The Rubber Ducky is a non-transforming [[Predacon]] and [[Decepticon]] ally/bath toy from the [[Beast Wars]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Transmetal_rubber_ducky.jpg|right|thumb|300px|You make conquest lots of fun!]]

[[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] is awfully fond of the '''Rubber Ducky'''; it is one of his closest allies and associates. Though it seems to lack any combat capabilities, Megatron often confers with it on unknown but presumably important matters.

It is cute and yellow and chubby.

The Rubber Ducky was seen among Megatron's hoard of personal possessions, such as [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]'s head and a model airplane, guarding them perhaps.  It was unable to stop [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] from ransacking the cabinets, however; all it could do was squeak in protest as she cast it aside. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)}}

When [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]] discovered that Megatron had used half of his [[Spark]] to give life to [[Dinobot II]], he threatened to rip it from the new Predacon's chest, only to find that Dinobot II wasn't about to let that happen. The Rubber Ducky observed all this in silence from the comfort of Megatron's CR tank hot tub, apparently content that the Predacon commander had the situation under control. {{storylink|Feral Scream Part 1}}

Later, the Rubber Ducky was apparently changed into a Transmetalized state, perhaps as a result of Megatron's experiments with the technology. When Megatron decided to attack the [[Maximal]] [[Mount St. Hilary|base]] to disrupt an attempt to reprogram Blackarachnia, the Rubber Ducky emphasized the scheme with a resounding squeak. {{storylink|Crossing the Rubicon}}

Shortly after, the Precadons evacuated their base, seconds before Tigerhawk's arrival obliterated it.  Perhaps hindered by its lack of a means of locomotion, the Rubber Ducky was not seen escaping with them, and likely became a casualty of the Beast Wars. {{storylink|Other Victories}}

===''Robots in Disguise'' cartoon===
A being similar in appearance to the Rubber Ducky had been hibernating underground before being excavated by [[Sky-Byte]], who, uncaring of its fortitude, casually tossed it aside.  Whether the same creature or a duplicate, it was still able to let out a defiant squeak.{{storylink|Ultra Magnus (Robots in Disguise episode)|Ultra Magnus}}

===''Cybertron'' cartoon===
The Rubber Ducky was seen having a party around [[Ransack (Cybertron)|Ransack]]'s head with all his other Rubber Ducky buddies. Somehow he managed to revert back to his non-Transmetal and/or Rubber form. [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]  was probably quite pleased that he lived. Yessss..... {{storylink|Trust (Cybertron episode)|Trust}}

==Toys==
Hasbro has announced no plans to produce this character in toy form. Perhaps some day, however, the Rubber Ducky might appear rendered in plastic or some other similar, soft, malleable material suitable for play and bathtime.

According to [[Glen Hallit]], one of the proposed exclusives for the 2005 convention should [[3H]] kept the license would have been ''[[Robots in Disguise (franchise)|Robots in Disguise]]'' [[Megatron (RID)|Megatron]] retooled as ''[[Beast Wars]]'' Megatron, with a Rubber Ducky accessory. This would have been awesome.

==Trivia==
* Rubber Ducky - he's the one. He makes bath time lots of fun.
