Cyclonus
:Cyclonus is a Decepticon from the Animated continuity family.

The other members of Team Chaar don't know what to make of Cyclonus. A few centuries ago, he fell out of the sky over New Kaon, and the dark warrior isn't the type for exposition. A nihilist, Cyclonus cares for little and his expressions run cold and dispassionate. During the few occasions in which he speaks, he mentions only the imminent end of all things, and insists that all creation is ultimately doomed. He seems to long for this future apocalypse to come to pass and for this current age to be over, finished.

He waits for a being called "Galvatron," to whom he begs forgiveness.

In battle, Cyclonus is a warrior unequaled. He carries twin Bleedblack blades that can sap the energy out of his opponents. He wages war tirelessly, thanks to a reactor linkage that seemingly draws strength from an unknown, limitless source of energy via transwarp circuitry. Perhaps most peculiar of all is the circuitry he seems to share with Starscream, specifically the deleted "self preservation" algorithms.

Cyclonus appeared out of nowhere in a storm of light and tachyons over New Kaon. As Scalpel reassembled him, he noted his immense power, that his internal chronometer was off by megacycles, and that he constantly muttered about someone named "Galvatron." Cyclonus soon swore allegiance to Megatron, but seemingly in the abstract. Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac Volume 2‎

Battling for the control of a space bridge with Team Chaar, Cyclonus strafed Rodimus before using his twin swords to disable Ironhide and Brawn with the help of Oil Slick. Silently accepting Strika's orders to secure the area, he ignored the stoic defiance of the Autobot he had strafed before, not even watching it get disabled. It didn't matter to him. When the Elite Guard arrived and he was given the order to retreat, he did so without complaint. It's not like he cared anyway. TransWarped
Notes
* Animated Cyclonus was designed by Irineo Maramba.
* Due to the great similarity between this incarnation of Cyclonus and his Universe counterpart, Hasbro announced that it will not be designing an Animated version of the toy.
* Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac Volume 2‎ strongly suggests that Cyclonus is from a dark future of the Animated universe, in which Megatron has become Galvatron. It also hints that Cyclonus is the future version of Starscream or one of his clones, since Scalpel believes he located within Cyclonus's code some of "Starscream's 'self preservation' algorithms commented out". Because of that last bit, our bets are on Skywarp, the cowardly clone.
* He sometimes speaks in Furmanisms.
* As mentioned above, Cyclonus has transwarp circuitry in his reactor linkage and also has an oxidizing laser and blades that fire corrosive beams of black light.
* If he was made from Skywarp, it could have something to do with how he was last seen in space drifting around (albeit conscious) and could have been approached by Unicron.
**And since Thundercracker was with Skywarp in space....... Scourge?
Synopsis
A long time ago, the one who would become the Fallen began to hear the AllSpark speak to him. It annointed him its chosen one, granted him an armada of lesser Transformers, and sent him abroad to find suns for harvesting... all while forbidding him to speak of this to his brother Primes, telling him that one day he would need to stand alone.

That time came when the Primes met and came to the conclusion that while Cybertron's growth was requiring more energy than they had and they needed to harvest yet more suns, they must be "judicious" and avoid harvesting suns that were supporting other lifeforms. The not-yet-Fallen broke in to snarl that, as the children of Primus and servants of the AllSpark, it was their divine right to simply take the energy the All Spark required. One Prime, however, demanded that they take an oath not to harm other lifeforms.

The almost-Fallen, obviously, ignored this and harvested the first system Jetfire found. Jetfire took the blame for the carnage caused and it was decreed that, in the future, a full congress of the Dynasty must meet before the star harvester is used. The about-to-be-Fallen ignored this, too and found his own world (an inhabited one) and built his own harvester, deciding the others were unworthy and he would show his devotion to the All Spark. Unfortunately for him, the Matrix he'd built for this job didn't work very well: he was consumed by primal fires and emerged as a burning, insane figure that blamed the Dynasty for driving him to this and swore they would pay!

The Dynasty, aware he'd done this, cast him out and declared him... Fallen.

The Fallen made an act of contrition and pretended to accept their judgement, then began to tear his way through the galaxy, ravaging inhabited worlds, assimilating any advances in science and methods of warfare he found, and coming to believe himself beyond the All Spark. Once he was prepared and armed, he called the Dynasty from Earth claiming he'd totally found an uninhabited world, and they should come down to harvest its sun, intending to slaughter them and take the Matrix once they arrived. They could face him or stay in limbo, but either way he wins!

Jetfire tried to stop him and was cast out, but the Dynasty arrived in full force. While they waffled at him to explain himself, the Fallen drew out two of the weapons he'd collected on his travels and began to massacre his way through his brothers. Only one, the Prime who had demanded the oath, remained alive, and he began to flee across the planet in multiple teleportation bursts. The Fallen followed... not knowing the Prime had, during the jumps, been gathering the sum total of all of the Dynasty's lifeforce, and once the Fallen had run his energies down he banished the monster into his sarcophagus!

The Fallen swore he would have... revenge!

"We are neither bound by morality nor burdened by accountability. We simply serve the will of the Allspark, and the will of the Allspark... is to feed its transformation!"
:-The Fallen

""Show of force"? That, my brothers, was mere preamble, an overture... to a concerto of carnage!"
:-Also the Fallen

Errors
* None of the members of the Dynasty of Primes, save The Fallen himself, resemble the designs for them seen in the live-action film.
* The first time the "last" Prime is shown, his head sculpt resembles Generation 1 Optimus Prime's helmet. However, for the remaning of the comic he is drawn with a head sculpt resembling Movie Prime's protoform toy head.
* The Fallen is cast out and disavowed. Then, the Fallen is still part of and working with the Dynasty. Similarly, the Fallen's narration says his plan is to take the Matrix... so how can he still win if they stay in limbo, with the Matrix?
*The Fallen sacrifices multiple planets and slaughters whole races during this comic (and last issue), yet the Dynasty wait until Earth before raising a fuss and aren't even going on the offensive?
*In the battle, the Fallen kills more than five other Primes... except last issue, the issue this ties into, clearly showed there were only seven! Whoops!

Items of note
*Chronologically, this is the earliest movie-verse story so far.
*This issue ties into the previous one. Jetfire's confrontation of the Fallen is shown from new angles here.
*IDW is the only fiction to have the Fallen as breaking away from the Primes before Earth and setting up a trap on that planet.
*If we take the first page as literal, the AllSpark is both semi-sentient and evil. If we assume the Fallen is an unreliable narrator, he was delusional bordering on insane from an early age.
*The Fallen claims that they are "Children of Primus". This is the first oreference to Primus as opposed to the All Spark in movie fiction, though Furman had previously suggested this over in a Titan character profile.
*The surviving Prime's design is clearly based on Optimus Prime's protoform toy. Which makes it somewhat fitting that he is the one that actually proposes to the Dynasty the "do not destroy the suns from systems with life" rule and names the Fallen, the Fallen.
*This story clearly establishes the Fallen as the member of the Dynasty responsible for finding new suns to recharge the Allspark. It also implies that the Dynasty of Primes has previously sacrificed worlds with life, and decrees the rule as a means of atonement for their past actions.
*Jetfire and the Constructicons have colours here, unlike the preceding issue.

Eons ago, the All Spark created thirteen beings, the first Cybertronians, who had the ability to move between dimensions. They soon realized that the All Spark's power, though vast, was not infinite, and required the energy of stars to be replenished. Once a nearby star went nova, the All Spark created a worker race, the Transformers, who would assist the Dynasty in replenishing the All Spark. One of the thirteen, later known as the Fallen, Defiance issue 4 believed the All Spark was talking to him and that it wanted him to harvest any sun, local lifeforms or no local lifeforms, rather than spend ages searching. He harvested the sun of a living world behind his brother's backs, only to be caught and told off. This didn't stop him Tales of the Fallen issue 4 and eventually, the Dynasty ruled that all <strike>thirteen</strike> seven of them) would decide on the harvester's use.

In response, the Fallen assembled his own army, the Decepticons, and deliberately built a harvester on Earth... in order to draw his brothers into a trap. Tales of the Fallen issue 3 A great battle erupted as the Fallen fought to gain the All Spark's power for himself. However, once he had destroyed his <strike>six</strike> twelve brothers' sarcophagi, he still had to face the final survivor, Optimus Prime's ancestor, who tricked him into running out of power and then used the remaining power in the Dynasty's corpses to imprison the Fallen in his own sarcophagus. The last Prime then built a tomb for the Matrix out of the corpses and sacrificed himself to close it. Knowledge of the thirteen faded, and the Dynasty of Primes became little more than a myth. Tales of the Fallen issue 3 Tales of the Fallen issue 4 Defiance issue 4

Thousands of years later, the Science Division discovered the Fallen's sarcophagus and the remains of the other Twelve's sarcophagi. As the Fallen influenced Lord High Protector Megatron, the members of the Science Division, under the direction of their leader Optimus, studied the remains of the other relics and discovered the symbol of the Primes. This was the first proof that they had found of the Dynasty, and what's more, the symbol was etched on the head of the Science Division's leader, who was soon dubbed Optimus Prime by his fellow scientists. After the Autobots refused to follow Megatron's Decepticons, the term Prime came to denote Optimus as leader of the Autobots. Defiance issue 3

At least by 17,000 BC, ancient beings known as the "Seven Primes" reached a solar system in their quest to build a Solar harvester, but they discovered the chosen system contained a life-bearing world, and so six of the Primes objected to using the harvester on the system's sun. The seventh, however, insisted on using the harvester anyway upon weighing the longevity of his planet and his race against a seemingly meaningless organic world. This Prime quickly turned on his brothers and their creed, waging war against them, with those who agreed with his ideals by his side. After attacking and killing many of his fellow Primes and slaughtering a large number of early humans he was thereafter ever known as "The Fallen." The remaining Primes mounted an attack on their new nemesis and hid the Matrix of Leadership—without which he could not activate the harvester—in a tomb composed of their own bodies on the very planet he sought to destroy, using the last of their energy left from the epic battle to completely seal it.

According to Sam Witwicky, who had absorbed the All Spark, Sentinel Prime led an expedition where it took him fourteen galactic convergences to get an echo of something, seemingly related to the existence of other dimensions where the theory of relativity was not applicable.

In the present day, their descendant Optimus Prime perished in battle whilst protecting the human adolescent Sam Witwicky, the chosen vessel of the All Spark after the Cube's physical destruction. With the seemingly confusing knowledge of an advanced alien civilization in his mind, Sam and his companions set out to find the Matrix of Leadership after learning it might be the only thing that could resurrect Optimus—the last of the Primes—who was the only being who could defeat "The Fallen". Travelling to Petra in Jordan, Sam discovered the Tomb of the Primes hidden within, quickly discovering the small Matrix. His hopes were soon dampened however, when the artifact crumbled into dust upon it being moved. Nevertheless, he held onto his faith and gathered up the dust in a tattered sock, intending to revive Optimus with it in any way feasible.

During a climactic battle around the Solar Harvester between the Autobots and The Fallen's Decepticon forces, Sam died in an attempt to use the remnants of the Matrix to resurrect Optimus Prime. Appearing to leave his body, the six Primes soon appeared before Sam, telling him that they had been observing him for a long period of time, praising his sacrificial acts to save the last Prime's spark. They pronounced him worthy of receiving the Matrix, revealing to him that it is now never merely found but instead earned, then instantaneously resuscitated him. Brought back to life by the six Primes, he was able to fulfill his destiny by reviving Optimus, propagating the complete destruction of the Solar Harvester and the defeat of "The Fallen" and Megatron. Revenge of the Fallen (film)
Revenge of the Fallen adaptations
According to Jetfire, the Dynasty of Primes was formed by the first Thirteen Cybertronians. These beings could not transform, but they and their transforming descendants possessed powers beyond that of the average Cybertronian. The Dynasty ruled Cybertron and protected the All Spark, replenishing it with the energy harvested from stars. However, the Dynasty of Primes was also benevolent, believing that all life was sacred, and refused to harvest stars with worlds inhabited by sentient races. To better prevent abuse, the Dynasty guarded the Matrix of Leadership, an artifact formed by the All Spark to power the Great Machines used to harvest stars. However, one of these Primes believed that they should harvest the star Sol, which promised to yield vast amounts of energy, even though Sol was orbited by a small world with primitive inhabitants, humans. After this plan was unanimously rejected by the others, this Prime betrayed and killed most of his brothers, but one survived and hid the Matrix in the Tomb of the Primes on Earth, fusing it shut with his own life essence. The Fallen, as the renegade Prime was now known, dispatched the Seekers to retrieve the Matrix, but they were unsuccessful and eventually abandoned. On Cybertron, the Fallen hunted down and killed every last Prime he could find, knowing that they were a threat to him. A single orphan was hidden away with no knowledge of his lineage: Optimus Prime.

In time, The Fallen encountered Megatron, and directed him to form the Decepticons, promising him the powers of a Prime in exchange for his loyalty. When Megatron left Optimus Prime in stasis lock, the last threat to the Fallen was removed, and he prepared for his return to Earth. However, Sam Witwicky, using the knowledge of the All Spark within his mind, found the Matrix in Petra, Jordan. Unfortunately, it had turned to dust in the millennia in the tomb. When his heart stopped after an attack by Megatron, Sam communed with the sparks of the Twelve original Primes, who had judged Sam worthy of stewardship of the Matrix, and instructed him to merge the Matrix with Optimus. The Dynasty then returned Sam to life and transferred the knowledge of the All Spark into the restored Matrix. With the Matrix restored, Sam used it to revive Optimus Prime and give him the knowledge of his ancestors. Unfortunately, the Fallen then attacked and stole the Matrix, activating the harvester.

Using parts donated by a critically injured Jetfire, Optimus went to the solar harvester, recovered the Matrix, and confronted the Fallen. In the battle that followed, Optimus proclaimed that the Fallen had forfeited his right to be a Prime when he slaughtered his brothers, and told Megatron that Primes were born, not made. Realizing he had been betrayed, Megatron and Starscream abandoned the Fallen and used the space bridge he had created to escape. Optimus then impaled the Fallen through the head with his own spear. With the death of The Fallen, Optimus Prime became sole inheritor of the Matrix and the last of the Dynasty of Primes. Revenge of the Fallen (novel) Revenge of the Fallen (comic series)

:Based upon the "Protoform" (Cybertronian) appearances of the Transformers in the Movie, Protoform Optimus Prime transforms into his "entry" mode. This mode somewhat resembles a cybertronic truck, with false wheels sculpted onto the sides, and Optimus Prime's trademark windows in front. A flame decoration piece fits to the back of the "vehicle", creating the illusion of a flaming comet's tail. The bottom of the vehicle has small wheels to roll the toy across smooth surfaces. Oddly, it has NO automorph gimmick at all, a feature most main-line figures have.

:In robot mode he resembles previous Optimus characters: his angular chest windows are reminiscent of Cybertron Optimus Prime, while his near-animalistic limbs and color scheme are evocative of Beast Wars Optimus Primal. He has excellent articulation due to his many ball joints, and is armed with a rifle. The flame attachment can fit onto the end of the (non-firing) gun barrel.

:Some packaging variants of this figure (perhaps a Wal-Mart exclusive) included a free movie poster depicting a Cybertronian eye overlooking Earth. While an added sticker to the outer plastic bubble says "Exclusive movie poster!", it is more of a preview of upcoming figures.
Notes
*The novelization and comic book adaptation vary quite differently from the version told in the movie, as they were based on early versions of the final script.
*For example, IDW's film adaptation shows 13 Primes instead of 7. In a later comic, only 7 are shown.
*But then The Fallen's bio in the Revenge of the Fallen DVD/Blu-Ray bonus material says there were in fact 13.
*Hasbro tried clearing the matter up in a Q&A exchange, saying that there were 13 "Original Epic Warriors of Cybertron," but only 7 of them were Primes. This distinction has not yet appeared in the fiction.
*More recently, a quiz in the Titan comic asked how many Primes there were, and the answer was "Seven (though you could have said 13!)". At least they're both prime numbers.

*Though barely glimpsed in the film, Josh Nizzi designed somewhat unique bodies and heads for each of the 12 during the film's pre-production. Interestingly, all of them appear to have energy glowing within their armor just as The Fallen does. Only 7 of them made into the film, of course.
*The Dynasty is a bit more lenient in the IDW comics than in the film and other spin-offs: There, the Fallen killed a planet before, and their reaction to this deliberate omnicide is little more than wagging a finger and saying "now don't do it again!"
While there seem to be a large number of mass-produced clones, a handful have appeared which carry AllSpark energy signatures, have different colour schemes, and seem to embody various elements of Starscream's personality.

After Prowl and Lockdown captured and then lost the original Starscream on the Moon, his sycophantic clone destroyed Prowl's shuttle and headed for Earth. The two bots followed him, but bumped into the cowardly clone first. After capturing him, Lockdown double-crossed Prowl and dragged the clone away. As the Autobots gave chase, the Sycophant appeared and offered to deal. Prowl wasn't having any of it, and after a brief skirmish, managed to get the stasis cuffs on him. Both Lockdown and the Autobots took the clones to an abandoned warehouse, where the Decepticons were waiting. As everyone was understandably shocked, some sort of program deactivated the clones' higher functions and opened their spark chambers, which were empty... except for a pair of powerful bombs. As Lockdown and the Decepticons made a break for it, Prowl welded his borrowed mods to the pair and launched them into the sky, where they exploded. The Decepticons were caught in the blast wave, but the city was saved. In the wreckage of the Nemesis, a disappointed but pragmatic Starscream consoled himself with the fact he still had plenty left. A Fistful of Energon

While Megatron was officially bringing the Constructicons into his army on Earth, Starscream was doing the same with his fifth clone on the Moon. Immediately after he brought his final clone on-line, however, the neurotic ensemble began giving him trouble, and he learned that each of them embodied a distilled facet of his personality: his cowardice, his sycophancy, his deceitfulness, his egomania...and one facet that warned him not to ask what she was. A Bridge Too Close, Part I‎

After bringing the five clones to life, the Starscreams all flew to Earth after Megatron made the space bridge. Starscream attacked the Decepticons with his new army and lost two clones (along with Blurr) in a blob of cement, and soon after lost his head to Prof. Sumdac. Finally, the other Starscream clones decided he was unworthy to lead them and sided with Megatron, but after that they all had to attack Omega Supreme and were easily defeated. A Bridge Too Close, Part I‎I

The two clones who were warped into space with Blurr were able to escape their cement prison, but were left behind in space as Blurr darted away. TransWarped

It was also revealed that Ramjet had survived, as he saved Lugnut (and promised not to tell Megatron), Three's a Crowd and later paid Lockdown to help him against the Autobots. Five Servos of Doom Both he and Sunstorm would end up as prisoners, and briefly broke free before being recaptured. Decepticon Air

The final Earthbound clone, Slipstream, kept a low profile after the disastrous encounter with Omega Supreme, but she eventually resurfaced when Optimus Prime was attempting to learn to fly. She pursued him assuming he was Starscream, and was quite confused when she realized she was actually confronting a flying Autobot. But that didn't stop her from shooting Prime down, then escaping once more to parts unknown.Endgame, Part I

The remaining cache of unactivated Starscream clone shells were unceremoniously destroyed by Megatron, upon the latter's return to his destroyed warship on the moon. Endgame, Part I
Trivia
* The clones are a reference to the common practice of redecoing Starscream toys as new characters, specifically the Seekers.
*The color schemes (though little more) of most of the clones are inspired by various Generation 1 Seekers.
* At 2008, Animated series creators Derrick Wyatt and Marty Isenberg repeatedly emphasized that there would be "no clone army... definitely no clone army... absolutely no clone army in this show." Lots of reports forgot the sarcasm tag.
* Starscream could certainly be considered an army-builder.
* This is, however, not the first appearance of a Starscream clone.
* Or even the second.
* For some reason, Dirge was added to the clones after their fictional appearance, making him the single toy-only clone so far (and the only Animated toy-only character, period).
**Also, Thrust was only mentioned in the Allspark Almanac II.
* Derrick Wyatt explained in a recent interview that he intended the clones to evolve into individuals the longer they remained online. Noting it has not been depicted, he implied the concept was dropped.

A Starscream clone is one of an army of (mostly) physically identical copies of Starscream. They have all of his abilities, with the added bonus of being extremely disposable. While there seem to be a large number of mass-produced clones, a handful have appeared which carry AllSpark energy signatures, have different colour schemes, and seem to embody various elements of Starscream's personality.
The clones include:

*Dirge, representing Starscream's greed.
*Ramjet, a clone that is as honest as the day is long.
*Skywarp and Clone #3370318, two clones representing Starscream's cowardice.
*Slipstream, representing parts of Starscream best left unexplored.
*Sunstorm and Clone #2716057, two clones representing Starscream's bootlicking tendencies.
*Thundercracker, representing Starscream's ego.
*Thrust, representing Starscream's jealousy.

Fiction
Animated cartoon
Starscream created the clones in a multi-step process. First mechanical shells based on Starscream's design were infused with protoforms stolen from Master Yoketron's dojo. Endgame, Part I Since those protoforms were sparkless, a fragment Starscream's AllSpark fragment was inserted into their chassis to give them life. A Bridge Too Close, Part I‎
