==Synopsis==

Deep underwater in the [[Megastar]], [[Megatron (RID)|Megatron]] complains that their more recent attempts to destroy the Autobots would have succeeded if it weren't for [[Ultra Magnus (RID)|Ultra Magnus]], and [[Scourge (RID)|Scourge]] points out that Magnus has both helped and hindered the Autobots. Megatron decides to look back at Magnus' actions, starting with his arrival on Earth and interference at the oil refinery. After reviewing the footage, Megatron notes that Magnus didn't identify himself to the other Autobots, which Scourge suggests was to maintain the element of surprise. They continue to review Magnus' actions—disabling the [[Autobot Brothers|Autobot brothers]] and once again fighting the Decepticons.

As Megatron observes, back then they expected Magnus and Optimus to join forces, but as the footage shows, this didn't happen, and Magnus attacked Optimus. He complains once more that Magnus always easily defeats Optimus whilst the Decepticons always fail in the same task, and dismisses Scourge's excuse that Magnus keeps interfering.

They continue reviewing the fight between Magnus and Optimus, along with the subsequent rescue by the Autobot brothers and Prime's recuperation on the island. [[Sky-Byte (RID)|Sky-Byte]] suggests they could use the fact that Optimus and Ultra Magnus are brothers in some way, but Megatron points out they learned this quite a while ago, and they need to get rid of the pair for good.

They resume viewing the footage with the arrival of Megatron and the Decepticons on the island and subsequent "strategic withdrawal" under fire from [[Omega Prime]]. Megatron observes that even after they left, hostility remained between Magnus and the other Autobots, and wonders why. He also recalls a later battle in which he was easily beating the Autobot brothers until Ultra Magnus turned up and was able to call on some new energy and super-charge the three brothers.

Having reviewed all of the footage, Megatron demands his troops tell him how to defeat the Autobots. When they're unable to, he informs them that the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] is the key, and to defeat the Autobots they have got to get hold of it.

: Starscream's first toy began life as "Jet Robo" from the ''[[Diaclone]]'' line, transforming into a grey, red and blue F-15 Eagle fighter jet. To transform Starscream, one must essentially take most of his plane parts off and transform his body, then reattach most of plane parts on again, along with the addition of two blue fists. If you don't mind being fiddly, though, transformation can certainly be achieved by only removing the fists, weapons and landing gear (which can store in Starscream's cockpit). Owing to the modular nature of his design and the fact that it is impossible to store all the parts in either mode, it can be quite difficult to find an intact original set of this toy.

:Starscream is armed with a pair of missile launchers that mount on his arms in robot mode, and under his wings in jet mode, with a pair of specialized projectiles for each. In jet mode, two short "[[cluster bomb]]" projectiles are fitted into the launchers to make them resemble the drop tanks a real F-15 carries, while in robot mode, they are replaced with the long barrels of Starscream's [[null-ray]]s. The original ''Diaclone'' version of the mold featured spring-loaded firing mechanisms in these launchers; while this feature was removed for the [[Hasbro]] release of the toy, it was left intact for the [[TakaraTomy|Takara]] version, and all subsequent reissues.

:The ''Diaclone'' version of the Starscream mold featured tailfins with solid tips and solid fists, and both these features carried over to the earliest ''Transformers'' edition of the future. *A hand-painted mock-up and accompanying artwork for what seems to have been a proposed ''Generation 2''-era redeco of Starscream appeared in auctions on [[eBay]], amongst similar items put up for sale from the collection of a former [[Hasbro]] employee. The mock-up features the words "Black Death" on its nosecone, which would probably lead fans to refer to the figure as "Black Death Starscream" if anyone were aware of it existing. The actuality of the figure being intended as Starscream is uncertain. In fact, the G2 redeco of Ramjet seen at the same time has been revealed as having been intended as [[Sandstorm (G2)|a separate new character]] and not an alternate version of Ramjet as had been assumed. It very well may be that this toy was likewise intended as a new character with the working name "Black Death," and not Starscream at all, but without confirmation of this it may as well remain listed here.

One way that non-Transformer species seem to have influenced [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] culture is the relatively rare occurrence of [[Transformer]]s wearing clothing.

==Capes==

From time to time, some high-ranked Cybertronians tend to wear capes. Presumably, they are a symbol of office, as only generals, commanders, and other such leaders have been seen sporting them. Exactly what material these capes are made from is unknown, but one presumes that Earth-style fabrics are likely extremely rare on Cybertron (which could make the capes even ''more'' special, considering).

* [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Generation 1 Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Generation 1 Megatron]] wore capes while serving as the leaders of the [[Cybertron Alliance]]. Prime's was purple (the Decepticon color), while Megatron's was red (the Autobot color). Whether this was a symbol of high office or just a desire to look pretty is unknown.
* [[Starscream (G1)|Generation 1 Starscream]] wore a cape, large shoulder pads, and a crown at his coronation as Decepticon leader. The crown alone survived [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]'s blast, only to be crushed under his feet.
