:Cryotek is a Predacon from the Beast Era and Universe series. His toy, however, was released under the Robots in Disguise banner.

Cryotek is a gangster in Cybertron's dangerous criminal underworld. A supply manager who served the Decepticon general Deathsaurus as the Great War came to a close, he doublecrossed his boss by leading a team of Predacon rebels against him, earning him amnesty during the following peace.

Once a brilliant engineer, he turned his talents to crime, and advancing technologies that were outlawed. He developed bodyframes that, though quite powerful and weapon-laden, qualified as legal for construction or research. His own "cryo-tank" form was as powerful as a Predacon could manage without special government clearance. With his bodyguards Dirge, Buzzbomb, and Backslash, Cryotek ran a tight organization that skirted the law, embarrassing the Maximal Command Security Force, who could never dig up any evidence against him.

Ironically, Cryotek's claim to fame would be his protégé, the rogue Predacon who would be called Megatron. Cryotek's greatest ideas would be co-opted by his former student, including technology for spark extractors and even his plan for the theft of the Golden Disk. If there's one thing Cryotek's pride cannot stand, it's his own failures.

Chro can often be seen perching on his shoulder.

After gloating about his genius plan to steal data revealing the location of a sacred Maximal artifact, the Golden Disk, he dispatched his star pupil Megatron to carry it out. He reminded Megatron that only Cryotek was allowed to decrypt the data.

Cryotek was no fool, however, and knew that Megatron would betray him sooner or later. He alerted the authorities to Megatron's heist, expecting his protégé would take the fall. Though when Dirge returned with the data storage box, it was empty, save for a Maximal security homing bug. Megatron had doublecrossed him! Cryotek pled for his lawyer as the Maximal Command Security Force infiltrated his secret lair. Theft of the Golden Disk
Universe: Featuring the Wreckers
When Megatron returned from his timelost exile on Earth, Cryotek offered to rid him of his hated beast mode, wishing to take the powerful dragon form for himself. This process, however, left Cryotek disabled for some while. Upon his recovery, he discovered that Megatron had stolen his research and conquered Cybertron.

Considered an outlaw among his own kind, and with Cybertron overrun with Vehicons, Cryotek exiled himself to New Quintessa, where he began a business partnership with Derodomontatus and the rest of the Quintesson race. Using the Oracle shell program that the Quintessons had used to manipulate Vector Sigma since eons ago, Cryotek and Derodomontatus manipulated several groups of survivors of Megatron's virus into running various fool's errands. One of these groups, the Mutants, were instructed by the Oracle to journey to New Quintessa itself. A trap was waiting for the Mutants, and they were devoured by Sharkticons while Cryotek and Derodomontatus watched. The Quintesson was amused, but Cryotek, striking him, reminded Derodomontatus of his race's incompetence and hubris.

Secretly, Cryotek suspected that Vector Sigma's true voice would break out through their deceptions, and so he placed Cyclonus into another of the surviving groups, the Wreckers. The Wreckers traveled to Archa Nine, Cyclonus double-crossed them, and Cryotek had the object of his desire, the Divine Light, delivered to him. Betrayal
*Cryotek (Ultra, 2001)

:Cryotek, a redeco of Transmetal 2 Megatron in blue, teal, and purple chrome, was a Target exclusive in 2001. It transforms from a robot into a cyborg-like dragon and can launch a missile from the top of his robot head. It also has a third "dragster" mode which is best forgotten. The toy has different wing claws from Megatron, a slight retool for unknown reasons.

: Both this mold and Tigerhawk's mold share a gimmick that was dropped before release—a cockpit bubble where a tiny "spark figure" would have piloted the character. Hasbro dropped the concept due to it junking around with the Transformers mythos; it was feared buyers would mistake the "spark figures" as humanoid pilots for a non-sentient transforming robot, a la Diaclone, instead of being representations of the spark essence of a living, breathing Transformer. The cockpit bubbles remain on both toys (and their redecos). The "USA Edition" (a limited Japanese release) of the toy includes the "spark figure".

Trivia
* The name "Cryotek" was first used by a hero from Hasbro's mid-Eighties action figure line Visionaries.

* Cryotek first debuted in an eBay auction by a seller with zero feedback, packaged inside a Beast Wars Transmetals 2 Megatron box. One of the largest flame wars the fandom had ever seen erupted over this early sample as fans argued over whether the toy was merely an easy Photoshop job or if it were a real production piece. Even when a buyer received the "blue Megatron" from the seller and confirmed that it was, in fact, blue, claims of fraud were not silenced. It wasn't until 2001, where a few copies of this early mispackaged sample were seen in person and its authenticity (and name) confirmed by 3H did the fandom finally simmer down.

:Blitzwing is a Decepticon in the Transformers Animated continuity family.

Blitzwing not only has three modes (robot, jet, and tank), he also has three alternate personalities (a cold strategist, a short-tempered hothead, and a total nutcase) along with the faces rattling around in his head to go with them. He's as liable to have a conversation with himself as he is to say a word to his fellow Decepticons. Pretty much the only thing that keeps him in line is that all three of his personalities are scared to death of Megatron.

Blitzwing's cold personality is represented by a long, blue face with a monocle and speaks with quiet disdain. His easily angered personality has a red face and is gap-toothed, making him look and sound like a certain Austrian musclehead. Finally, his crazy personality's face looks like nothing so much as a black jack-o'-lantern and just sounds hysterical. All three personalities have a German accent, and apparently he has trouble flying in a straight line.

Blitzwing's armament varies depending upon which personality is dominant at the time. His calculating personality has an arsenal of ice weaponry, while the hothead predictably can bring the heat. When his third personality is foremost, nearly anything can be dished out from either of his vehicle modes. Blitzwing's alt-mode is likewise dependent on which aspect is dominant at the time. His cold side uses the jet, his angry side dominates the tank, and his insane side can use both. It even goes so far that if he becomes angry during flight, he transforms into tank mode.

Basically, he's the Purple Baron. Or a panzer that can walk.

Blitzwing was aboard the Nemesis with the other Decepticons at the time of the AllSpark's re-discovery. He partially froze Blackarachnia's arm, commenting on how her demeanor was as unpleasant as her organic beast mode. When Blackarachnia advised him to blow it out his actuator, Blitzwing angrily demanded that she refer to him by his proper name, or else he would...express his feelings in song! His out-of-tune rendition of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" got all the Decepticons arguing until Megatron entered, prompting Blitzwing to fall silent with the rest.

When it became clear the Nemesis was going to crash into an exploding space bridge, Blitzwing fled in an escape pod. Transform and Roll Out!

After Megatron's disappearance, Blitzwing placed a bounty on Optimus Prime, intending to punish him for destroying Megatron. Fifty solar cycles later, the bounty hunter Lockdown contacted Blitzwing, saying he had Prime. Blitzwing promised that Lockdown would receive payment once Blitzwing received Prime—then asked if he could please, please please see Prime turn into a fire truck. The Thrill of the Hunt

Blitzwing and Lugnut followed a beacon to the Moon to find the wreckage of the Nemesis. The pair of them had similar problems determining the dominant species on Earth as the Autobots did, mistaking Earth's automatons and machines for sentient beings. During an encounter with the Autobots, Megatron opted to radio Lugnut exclusively, leaving Blitzwing struggling to work out what exactly was going on. Blitzwing believed Lugnut was only listening to voices in his head, so Lugnut had to take him along forcibly. Uncertain of the number and strength of the Autobots' "reinforcements" (the Detroit Police Department), the pair scanned Earth vehicles for disguises so they could lay low. Blitzwing's calculating persona wanted to scan a fighter jet, while his aggressive side wanted a tank. After a brief argument, his crazy side won out and scanned both.

The two Decepticons followed the Autobots to Lake Erie, where Blitzwing froze the lake. When the Autobots submerged, he followed them in tank form. Blitzwing was lured by the Autobots towards their ship and blasted by one of its weapons systems. He and Lugnut were left fragmented but functional and floated to the surface, only to be met by Starscream, who offered to repair them in exchange for a pledge of undying allegiance... Lost and Found (Animated episode)

Apparently, they chose to serve under Starscream, but still were bickering with each other. When Lugnut began receiving internal transmissions from Megatron again, Starscream was confused, but his scans still detected the signals. He ordered both Lugnut and Blitzwing to find the AllSpark Key while he himself tracked the transmissions.

At the moment, the key was in the hands of Ratchet. Blitzwing used his ice guns to freeze Ratchet and rip off the arm that was carrying the key. Afterward, they went to Sumdac Towers to find Megatron. In the process of greeting him, they revealed Megatron's true Decepticon nature to Prof. Sumdac. Blitzwing, now understanding what had been going on with Lugnut, inserted the key into Megatron's head, restoring their true leader... Megatron Rising - Part 1

As Megatron proceeded to beat up the Autobots, Blitzwing and Lugnut decided not to intervene and kept an eye on Professor Sumdac instead. When Megatron called his loyal troops to him, Blitzwing looked on as his leader made an example of Starscream. The Decepticons took to the air, locating and attacking the Autobots' ship as it travelled from the lake to the Tower, then from the Tower to Dinobot Island, where it was shot down. Blitzwing split off to tackle Prowl, Ratchet and Bumblebee, before being brought down by a combined EMP burst. As Blitzwing rolled around and shelled the Autobots, Prowl noticed that Blitzwing's personalities were connected to his alternate modes and powers. Bumblebee taunted the Triple Changer enough that Angry Blitzwing took over, transformed from jet to tank—and fell into the lake. Megatron Rising - Part 2

The Decepticon trio make their own lair in a mine whom their walls have camouflage shielding so they can recover from their encounter with the Autobots. When Megatron announced his new plan to conquere Cybertron, Blitzwing said that the plan was crazy. He probably said that because even Lugnut did not know how they would get there. Megatron revealed that they would build their own space bridge using the specs Megatron downloaded from Teletran-1 during one of the encounters with the Autobots. Blitzwing finally understood this. However, they would need the captured Prof. Sumdac to help them, as the specs were incomplete. The Elite Guard
*Blitzwing (Voyager, 2008)

:Blitzwing transforms into a futuristic "Mech-Warrior"ish-tank with large, anti-aircraft-like guns and a squat jet with tracks. The robot mode has three faces, which can be switched around via a knob on the back of the head. Blitzwing's toy cheats a bit; though the character model depicts his shoulder missile pods going on his treads in tank mode, the toy has separate sculpted details for each.

comingsoontoy

Trivia
* Marty Isenberg originally envisioned a character who could change into anything. When that (obviously) proved unworkable in toy terms, the character of Blitzwing as a triple-changer was suggested for the role. As fate would have it, Hasbro designer Eric Siebenaler had been itching to do a face-swapping Blitzwing since 2005.

* His helmet is an obvious nod to a World War II-era German Stahlhelm helmet and goggles. Given the overall design in robot mode, the nature of his personalities and even his name itself, this really isn't very surprising.

* Blitzwing's face-changing gimmick was in part inspired by Man-E-Faces from Masters of the Universe. He's not the first Transformers toy to feature multiple rotating faces; Alpha Q, inspired by the five-faced Generation 1 Quintessons, holds that distinction. Whether Blitzwing (or the Quintessons) have any roots in such larger cultural currents as the many three-faced depictions of the Buddha and various gods from the Hindu pantheon (or at least Japanese cartoon characters from the 80s based on them) remains unknown.

* Blitzwing's decision to scan both a tank and a jet in Lost and Found was an interesting one, possibly implying that Blitzwing wasn't a Triple Changer to begin with, and perhaps that other Animated-era Transformers can take on multiple forms if they just scan other vehicles. He's only a tank when he's in angry mode, and only a jet when in his colder, calculating personality, so if a requirement to being a Triple Changer is having a few bolts loose, maybe that's not a road other Transformers wish to take.

* His Austrian accent was a last-minute idea by voice actor Bumper Robinson, which landed him the part.
Arcee was an Autobot intelligence officer during the Great War. She carried crucial access codes, but was damaged in the line of duty. Ratchet repaired her and tried to take her to safety, but the two were attacked by Lockdown, who had been hired by the Decepticons to bring her in.

Held prisoner within Lockdown's ship, Arcee insisted that Ratchet use his electromagnetic pulse tool to wipe the codes from her head. Lockdown overheard this and tried to stop the pair, but in the struggle the device overloaded and sent out a powerful burst. In the confusion, Ratchet and Arcee were somehow able to escape... but the EMP blast had wiped Arcee'thought crap clean The Thrill of the Hunt
Now she is trapped between organic and machine, unable to take a new form. The experience fueled a newfound hatred of the Autobots and a quest for revenge that led her to join Megatron in his war against them, but she doesn't appear to hold any real loyalty toward him. Her hatred of her organic body is driving her insane, and she will do anything to get rid of it, no matter whom she has to crush in her path.
Blackarachnia was previously known as Elita-1. A thousand stellar cycles ago Elita and her teammates, Optimus and Sentinel, were exploring an alien world, looking for a Decepticon ship filled with energon. They accidentally fell into a series of caves. They were ambushed by giant spiders and, when escaping the massive energon explosion caused by the battle, Elita ended up being left behind. When she tried using her ability to borrow powers from other beings, she was injected by the spiders' venom, turning her into the hideous freak she is now. Because of her new, semi-organic nature, her signal did not appear on Optimus's radar, leading him and Sentinel to believe that she had perished in the explosion. Along Came a Spider
When the AllSpark was found by a group of Autobots, Blackarachnia was aboard the Nemesis with the other Decepticons, annoyed at Lugnut's emphatic, vocal loyalty to Megatron. She even suggested that Lugnut's speech of praise was hardwired into his mind. She also had conflict with Blitzwing, who touched a sore point by insulting her organic mode. Her retort to "blow it out your actuator, three-face" angered Blitzwing to the point that he...began to express his feelings in song. Later, at Megatron's orders, she scanned the Autobots' ship to determine the nature of their high-energy cargo. She confirmed the Autobots were carrying the AllSpark, or at least something just as powerful. When the Autobots escaped and it became clear the Nemesis was going to crash into an exploding space bridge, Blackarachnia fled in an escape pod. Transform and Roll Out!
Fortunately, Optimus came along, but Blackarachnia kidnapped Sari and started web-swinging.
After she got to the top of a skyscraper, Prime tried to fight her, only to realize at last who she was. Prime tried to reason with "Elita", asking her to come with them in the hopes of curing her, but Blackarachnia stabbed him, saying that it would be a long time before she trusted him again. After she knocked out Prime, she cried her four eyes out. Along Came a Spider

Later, she again kidnapped Sari, who was running away after having the key taken away from her. When she heard about the key and how Sari felt totally mistrusted by the Autobots, Blackarachnia played on the girl's sympathies by saying she knew how Sari felt. BA noted how she was not a Decepticon until after the Autobots turned their backs on her, and how the AllSpark's power was the only thing that could cure her current form.

Teleportation is the ability to instantly transport matter from one place to another within a very short amount of time. In the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons, such a power could be the key between victory and defeat.

Strange thing is, most Transformers who can teleport are total morons. Primus save us from idiots who can teleport.

Fiction
Generation 1
Skywarp possesses the ability to teleport. Though this would make him potentially deadly, without Megatron or Starscream to tell him what to do, he's useless, so his teleportation ability is not really a threat as far as the Autobots are concerned. Usually, he just uses it for immature pranks, such as pushing the other Decepticons down the stairs. Although the victim finds it unfunny, the other Decepticons enjoy it... because it's really funny.

Also, the Decepticons' space bridge was used to teleport troops and materials between Cybertron and Earth.

Beast Era
Beast Wars
While setting up a communication system, Cheetor accidentally found that when struck by lightning, they turned into a teleportation route between the Axalon and the Darksyde. Terrorsaur and Dinobot also discovered this, and Terrorsaur suggested that they use it to destroy both Optimus Primal and Megatron.

Dinobot ejected Terrorsaur through the waste system, then convinced Optimus to use the teleporter to send a bomb to the Darksyde.

Bad news was, both ships were on an energon vein that would explode catastrophically if either ship blew. So Cheetor deactivated the clamps that held it in place, and Terrorsaur then sent it into the air. Cheetor then used the teleporter to return to the Axalon, which also destroyed the communicators, destroying the teleportation system. Equal Measures
Movie
Dreadwing has the ability to teleport. Nobody knows how he got it, and since he's too stupid to have made it himself, the other Decepticons think that he stole it.
