:Hot Shot is an Autobot character from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Hot Shot is the quintessential young hero. He's been around long enough to earn a name for himself and a place in Optimus Prime's entourage, but he's still too young to know when he's in over his head. In other words, he's blunt, overconfident, and naïve, yet brave, honorable, loyal to his friends, and willing to risk his life to stop the Decepticons and help the Autobots. With time and experience, Prime believes, he could make an excellent leader, and Prime has appointed him to his command structure accordingly. Hot Shot's got the goods, but he just needs to pay attention for more than five seconds. Until that day, Hot Shot's likely response to most anything is, "Yeah yeah, like, whatever."

Hot Shot's Mini-Con partner is Jolt, though he has been known to moonlight with Mirage.
Armada
One million years ago, Hot Shot was a member of the Autobots, the guardians of Cyber City. Soon news of a warlike faction called Decepticons, led by the power-hungry Megatron, reached Cyber City via a dying Mini-Con Hot Shot found. The Mini-Con handed him a video disc and with his dying breath, demanded Hot Shot take it to Optimus Prime. Optimus Prime played the disc, a distress signal from Leader-1, head of Mini-Con village D10, who begged the Autobots for help.

The Decepticons themselves soon arrived in Cyber City, armed with Mini-Cons they had captured and reconfigured to bestow incredible power when Powerlinxed. Outclassed and near total defeat, Optimus Prime called his troops into retreat, and after the majority of Mini-Cons escaped Cybertron to parts unknown, the Autobots lost much of the planet to the Mini-Con-powered Decepticons.

In the present day, both the Autobots and Decepticons received a signal of the Mini-Cons' activation on the planet Earth. Hot Shot and his colleagues Scavenger, Red Alert, and Smokescreen were led by Optimus Prime to the planet, where they met the Decepticons in battle. But this time, with the help of the estranged Mini-Cons, the Autobots regained the edge they lost against the Decepticons one million years prior. An uneasy alliance was formed, and Hot Shot was partnered with the Mini-Con Jolt. Armada_%28Dreamwave_comic%29#Volume_1:_First_Contact

After this initial battle on Earth, Megatron is quick to capture the Air Defense Mini-Con Team and forge them into the Star Saber sword. Optimus Prime led Hot Shot and Red Alert against the Decepticons again, despite being at a strategic disadvantage while the Mini-Cons were missing, a point Hot Shot belabored. Thankfully, the Autobot-allied Mini-Cons arrived just in time to Powerlinx with Hot Shot and the other Autobots, fend off Megatron, and rescue the Air Defense Mini-Cons from the Decepticon leader's clutches.

Soon, a Mini-Con beacon tower was erected in Tranquility, Kansas, drawing all Earth-bound Mini-Cons to it. Hot Shot and the rest of the Autobots again met the Decepticons in battle at the location when the tower's effect was discovered. However, they were too busy fighting to notice the beacon tower blasting off toward the Earth's moon. Hot Shot and Red Alert secreted Optimus Prime into the Decepticon base for the use of their space bridge, so that the Autobot leader could ask for reinforcements from Cybertron. Armada_%28Dreamwave_comic%29#Volume_2:_Fortress

After the Mini-Cons were evacuated from the moon, five did not return home safely and sent a distress signal from northern Alaska. When the Adventure Mini-Con Team failed to retrieve them, Hot Shot and the other Autobots arrived in full force, though they were kept in check by Cyclonus, who was suffering from a Mini-Con overdose. Though they were successful, Optimus Prime disappeared before their eyes, and when Hot Shot returned to Autobase, he found an Optimus Prime, dying, sent from another timeline to warn of Unicron's coming. Learning of the "real" Optimus Prime's disappearance, Megatron and his Decepticons stormed Autobase, nearly killing Smokescreen and heavily injuring Hot Shot, Red Alert, and Scavenger.

Optimus Prime was returned to them and insisted on teaming up with the Decepticons to battle the arriving Unicron. Hot Shot excused himself from this alliance, as Smokescreen's critical condition due to the Decepticons' recent attack still weighed heavily in his mind. So when Megatron stole away during the battle with Unicron to strike a deal with the Dark God, Hot Shot, Scavenger, and Red Alert ambushed him, leaving him to die as Unicron was seemingly destroyed by the Mini-Con Matrix. Armada_%28Dreamwave_comic%29#Volume_3:_Worlds_Collide
Energon
Ten years later, at the beginning of the Energon Era, Hot Shot accompanied Optimus Prime, who was skeptical and restless about the new peacetime, on his visit with the High Council in Cyber City. Prime's demands for vigilance were denied, so Hot Shot later followed him to a special uplink platform that Over-Run had directed them to. This trip was a first outing for the rookie Autobot Ironhide, who fawned over Hot Shot. Hot Shot met this with difficulty. Learning of the continued existence of Unicron, Prime once again returned to the High Council, again accompanied by Hot Shot. But this time, Cyber City was attacked by Cheetor, Rhinox, Airazor, and Terrorsaur, who were presumed dead during the Unicron Battles, but in fact were transformed into Unicron's Beasts of the Apocalypse. The Horsemen were deterred when Hot Shot and the other Autobots were granted the Spark of Combination.

Hot Shot followed Prime to Earth after a distress signal was received. Scorponok and his Terrorcons were after a young boy who could detect Energon named Kicker. The Terrorcons outclassed them, however, and left only when their Energon-mining gear was destroyed, but not without taking Kicker. After the Autobots reunited with Rad and Alexis, Hot Shot and the Omnicon Strongarm were able to pursue the Terrorcons and deliver a special suit to Kicker that his father, Dr. Jones, had made for him. With Kicker's help, the Terrorcons were defeated and returned to Unicron.
An indeterminate number of years ago on Cybertron, Hot Shot and the Autobot Wheeljack were amidst a fiery battlefield blaze. Wheeljack was incapacitated, so Hot Shot left him, promising to get help. However, his commander would not let him return to help his friend. Instead, Wheeljack was rescued by Megatron and swore vengeance against Hot Shot and the Autobots.

When Optimus Prime received the Mini-Con distress signal, Hot Shot was one of two soldiers he brought with him to Earth to investigate. He soon scanned the form of an Earth sports car and partnered with the Mini-Con Jolt. Base

When all three Mini-Cons that combine to form the Star Saber sword were collected, Optimus assigned them to Hot Shot. The Autobot was young, inexperienced, and hotheaded, so the great advantage the Star Saber granted him went straight to his ego. With the sword, he was nearly unbeatable on the battlefield until a Decepticon named Scavenger taught him the hard way that power without skill was useless against an experienced opponent. Hot Shot's naïvety was his downfall. The double-agent Sideways tricked Hot Shot out of the sword, and Hot Shot was beaten nearly to death by his frustrated opponents. Overmatch
Wheeljack returned to Hot Shot's life, seeking revenge. The new Autobot recruit Side Swipe was caught up in Wheeljack's vendetta, so Hot Shot protected Side Swipe as best he could, hoping not to repeat his past mistakes. Wheeljack was deterred, but promised he'd be around later to revisit his ill will. Past, Part 1
When Optimus Prime sacrificed himself to save Earth, Hot Shot was put in command. Hot Shot declined to take the Matrix of Leadership, which marked the beginning of a very unassertive and indecisive administration. It was also short, as Optimus Prime returned to life after not too long. Remorse

The Decepticons managed to take over Cybertron. Unicron, the Chaos Bringer, was looming over their planet, but Galvatron (previously Megatron) would not listen to Optimus Prime's pleas to unite their two factions against him. Hot Shot decided to take matters into his own hands and fought his way through the Decepticon base and countless Decepticon warriors to reach Galvatron and reason with him. If it were not for Wheeljack's intervention, he might not have survived. Under the Autobot/Decepticon alliance, Wheeljack's hatred of Hot Shot seemed to soften, and the two learned to trust each other again. Dash (Armada episode)

After the destruction of Unicron and the defeat of Galvatron, Optimus Prime felt he had failed as Autobot Leader, and with the end of the conflict between the two factions, he exiled himself to parts unknown. Hot Shot and Jetfire were left in charge of the Transformers. Mortal Combat

10 years after the events of Armada, Hot Shot was stationed on Earth as the commander of Ocean City while Optimus Prime trained new soldiers on Cybertron. He faced administrative challenges such as surly former adversaries and teenaged angst. Hot Shot proved himself up to the task of being 'city commander,' handling the daily challenges thrown at him with a steady a equilibrium that is the envy of lesser 'bots.

As commander of Ocean City, Hot Shot has been the frequent butt of Kicker's practical jokes, and likes to advise him "Don't be an idiot!", but long experience has taught him to trust warning from the human's uncanny precognition. When the Terrorcons attacked Earth, Optimus Prime gave him a Combination Spark and he combined with Inferno.Cybertron City (episode)

Later Hot Shot headed up a strikeforce to Desert City to fortify it against possible Terrocon assault. While there he flirted with jailbait super-scientist Misha Miramond and fills her ear with what a dork her not-my-boyfriend (Kicker) is back at Ocean City. When Terrorcons invades the city, Hot Shot and his troops perform a holding action at the entrance to the Energon Mine, but their position is overrun, and Hot Shot is the only survivor. Though battered, Hot Shot commends Ironhide's decision to leave him behind and rescue the humans, resulting the the other Autobot begin awarded his own Combination Spark.Scorpinok

As part of Prime Squad, Hot Shot prepared to travel to Mars before the mission was canceled, and took part in the defense of Plains City, again tasked with securing the Energon supply. He if the first to feel the wrath of Scorponok's Megatron Sword, and later battles Cyclonus while attempting to shore up Demolishor's flagging confidence in the Autobot cause.Megatron's Sword
Hot Shot leads a recon team searching for a Energon Point in the mountains, the future location of Blizzard City. He orders Ironhide and Demolishor to team up for their mutual benefit. While trying to rescue Kicker, Hot Shot is buried in an avalanche by by Cyclonus. He evacuates his team before the can be crushed by the emergency deployment of a new Cybertron City via space bridge. The New Cybertron City

Hot Shot and his crew were still at Plains City when the newly-resurrected Megatron attacked. He is defeated in battle by Megatron and 'dis-armed' ad an object lesson to Optimus. Megatron Raid Optimus retreats to Ocean City with the injured Hot Shot and leaves the Plains City Energon supply to the Decepticons. Hot Shot's injury awakens a protective streak in Optimus Prime, who briefly forbids Kicker from accompanying the Autobots on missions. At Ocean City Hot Shot undergoes medical treatment, submerged in liquefied Energon while his damaged exostructure re-grows. When the base is breached Hot Shot breaks out of his medical unit to defend Inferno from Terrorcons and, armed with a clone of the Megatron Sword, he helps kick the visiting Decepticons back out. Megatron Resurrected

It wasn't until the arrival of Hot Shot's former commander and idol, Rodimus, that he would question his own allegiances. Not moved by Rodimus' plea to help him to resurrect Unicron, Hot Shot threatened to open fire, only to be struck down by Rodimus. After Rodimus saved Hot Shot's life, he regretted his quick judgment. The relationship between Hot Shot and Rodimus was eventually restored and they become Powerlink partners.

Hot Shot continued to serve under Optimus Prime, surviving many battles on Cybertron and other worlds. Along with several other Autobots, Hot Shot was injured when the reborn Unicron destroyed a fledgling planet in the reformed Q-system. Hot Shot was reformatted into a slick silver body along with his Autobot comrades. He eventually merged his spark with that of Optimus Supreme and his partners in the final battle with Galvatron.

When Unicron's destruction resulted in a black hole that threatened the Transformers' home planet of Cybertron, Optimus Prime ordered the planet to retreat into hiding on Earth. Hot Shot took the form of a blue Earth sports car.

This form came in handy when Optimus reassigned Hot Shot and Red Alert to search for Velocitron's Cyber Planet Key. He quickly developed a competitive bond with Override, the leader of Velocitron. Against Red Alert's warnings, Hot Shot joined the Great Race. Hot Shot pushed himself beyond his means, almost to the point of destruction, but no matter how he tried, he could never defeat Override. The constant racing took a noticeable toll on his body. Was he really doing this to win the Key or just to prove to himself he was still the fastest in the galaxy?

Hot Shot was in big trouble when Optimus arrived on Velocitron and found out what he was up to. But Optimus Prime changed his mind when he realized that winning the race was the only way to win the Key. With the Autobots' full support and Coby's help, Hot Shot won the Great Race and the Cyber Planet Key.

Later, Hot Shot, Red Alert and Scattorshot faced Megatron alone when the Decepticon leader returned to Earth thristing for revenge against the treacherous Starscream. Humiliating the Decepticon in combat, Megatron, enraged, used his new Omega Lock-powered Death Machine Gun on the three Autobots, crippling them beyond repair. Revelations

Fortunately, the powers of Primus acting through the Omega Lock bathed the trio in the creator's holy light, repairing and reformatting the young Autobot into Cybertron Defense Hot Shot. Along with his newly reformatted friends, the Cybertron Defense Team arrived on the battlefield and easily defeated the Decepticons Scourge and Megatron. Critical

As Optimus Prime and the other Autobots dealt with Starscream and Megatron's forces, the Cybertron Defense Team was sent on an advance mission to Planet Cybertron. Hot Shot and his fellow team members had to blast their way through a debris field littering the Space Bridge path to Cybertron, during the course of which Hot Shot's vision was obscured by a thick oily substance excreted out of an asteroid as it exploded.

When the unit finally arrived on Cybertron, they were shocked to discover the planet overrun with the parasitic Scrapmetal drones, and quickly had to fight their way through legions of the robotic pests. United

Much later on Gigantion the Cybertron Defense Team was caught in Soundwave's smokescreen, but they managed to figure out the mysterious agent's mind games and defeat him.

After Override resigned from leadership of Velocitron in order to travel to a new world, Hot Shot won the race to determine who would be her successor, despite his bulky new body.

: A red, yellow, and black redeco and retool of the first Hot Shot, Powerlinx Hot Shot has a new head that has a more "serious" look, though his visor, sculpted directly into the new head, is no longer articulated. Intended to be an homage to Generation 1 Hot Rod, he has a yellow spoiler and flames on his hood. Due to a factory error, his forehead is painted gray instead of left red. The Japanese version, "Hot Rod Super Mode," fixed this forehead mistake, painted the shoulder symbol more clearly, and retained the LED light-up arm the first Japanese version featured.

: Later in the line, a running change granted Powerlinx Hot Shot with a cleaner faction symbol. Even later in the run Hot Shot got his painted forehead, but that particular version is extremely rare.

: In November of 2003, US Toys "R" Us stores had special bonus pack Max-Con (Deluxe) toys, which came with a single bonus Mini-Con attached to the card over their sticker, for less than the price of a normal Max-Con during Toys "R" Us' post-Thanksgiving-day sale. Like Powerlinx Cyclonus, Powerlinx Hot Shot could come with one of the Adventure Mini-Con Team members: Dune Runner, Iceberg or Ransack.

: In Energon, Hot Shot was updated as a modified yellow Aston-Martin Vanquish. He can carry a transparent red spring-loaded missile-launching weapon in either mode, and features a small Autobot spark crystal on his chest on which Energon chips can be mounted. Like nearly all other Autobots in the Energon line, he can powerlinx with like-designed toys to form the top or bottom of a super robot.

: Takara released Hot Shot in similar colors, changing the slate blue plastic to a dark, nearly-black blue, dropping the black paint on his car roof, and adding metallic blue paint to his chest. His head is also a nearly-identical-but-different sculpt, most noticeably around the mouth, chin, and eyes. The reason for this is unknown.

: This mold was later redecoed to make the "Energon" powered-up version of the character. It was also retooled to make the Timelines incarnation of Nightbeat.
: Energon Energon Hot Shot gave the car mode a silver-painted finish and the robot parts a dark blue, yellow, and red color scheme reminiscent of Armada Hot Shot's colors. Energon Hot Shot uses the Hasbro version of Hot Shot's head (see above).

: When he was released in Japan as "Hot Shot Fire," his car mode was changed to an unpainted silver, and additionally the yellow plastic was changed to a sherbet orange, the dark blue plastic to black, and the transparent orange plastic to a transparent crimson red. He also came packaged with the Energy Cutter, a transparent watermelon-red redeco of Signal Flare's energon weapon, plus a matching energon chip.

: A homage to Generation 1 Hot Rod in design but not in color scheme, Cybertron Hot Shot transforms into a modified blue Chrysler ME Four-Twelve concept car. He comes with a Speed Planet Cyber Key that deploys transparent yellow wings from his spoiler when the key is inserted into the rear of the car. The toy also comes with a spring-loaded missile-launching gun that can be carried in robot mode or pegged into the roof of the car mode.

: The Japanese release, "Exillion," is completely identical other than a slight molding difference; two screws on either side of the spoiler are visible in the American release and all subsequent uses of the mold, but the original Japanese use of the mold had these screws buried. Though the Japanese release was treated as a separate character from Hot Shot, the toy was designed to be the character from Armada and Energon, as evident by his head design and control art labeling him as such.
: Cybertron Defense Hot Shot transforms into a modified M1117 Guardian Armored Security Vehicle, in the same blue, navy, and red color scheme as the previous Cybertron Hot Shot. A Cybertron Cyber Key is included and when the key is inserted into the back of the turret, the two gun barrels open up into dual (non-firing) missile launchers. Compartments on his shoulders and his thighs can also open up to reveal additional missile launchers. Cybertron Defense Hot Shot also comes with a dagger that stows between his legs in vehicle mode, and when in robot mode, the dagger can be hand-held, peg into the front of his fist, or be put away in a sheath on his leg.

: "Exigeyser," Cybertron Defense Hot Shot's Japanese counterpart, is completely identical, but also came with a cardboard standup depicting three Scrapmetal drones. The American version of Cybertron Defense Hot Shot was at some point intended to have a slightly altered deco, which is shown on the back of the packaging, but this altered deco for some reason never superseded the Japanese deco for American release.

:Red Exillion is a redeco of the Cybertron Hot Shot toy in red, dark red, and orange, with transparent blue. Limited to 500, it came with the first Galaxy Force DVD and an empty box set to prepare against the next few Galaxy Force DVD releases. This redeco took advantage of the toy's homage to Generation 1 Hot Rod, completing the homage with appropriate colors, though the toy is still treated as Hot Shot in Hot Rod colors and not as a Hot Rod toy.

:Before the toy saw official release, several advance test shots entered the market, though in a slightly altered color treatment than the final. Originally, the dark red was a brighter red.

*Armada Hot Shot's toy had to be completely re-engineered close to release. Due to a structural flaw (and gravity), Hot Shot's arms were not able to attach securely to his shoulders. Furthermore, designer Aaron Archer felt the early design's wide, football player-like physique was inappropriate to the character archetype. Changes were made last-minute to the design to rework the transformation of the arms, necessitating the dropping of some articulation and the addition of kibble elsewhere to compensate.

*Armada Hot Shot's infamous "JaAm" grin was actually a misinterpretation of Aaron Archer's original concept art which depicted Hot Shot clenching his teeth together in an open-lipped, determined expression. The head of the original tooling had a maniacal, perhaps unhinged-looking smile in response to this concept art, so the grin was scaled back on the final toy. The grin was removed completely and replaced with a neutral, stern expression when the head was resculpted for Powerlinx Hot Shot.

* The rear axle (the "Axelzooka") on the original Hot Shot figure has sculpted shock absorbers in an interesting display of attention to detail. However, they are sculpted 90 degrees in the wrong direction, which would make them useless in reality.

* According to the Armada Playstation 2 game instruction booklet, Hot Shot's Armada body has the following statistics:
:*Mass: 3,109 lbs
:*Robot height: 16' 5"
:*Robot top speed: 50 mph
Thunderblast is obsessed with power. Not attaining it for herself, but rather, latching onto a "male" Transformer who has a lot of power. She follows the strongest Decepticon she can find, and the stronger he is, the more infatuated with him she is. As such, she is usually seen clinging to Galvatron (who certainly doesn't reciprocate). But as soon as the power structure shifts, so does the focus of her affections.

Though she's fickle and flighty (and greedy and selfish and opportunistic and vain and overconfident and...) she's not completely stupid. She knows how to use her wiles to get what she wants, and she's no slouch in combat, especially underwater. She knows Autobots are generally reluctant to shoot at a female and uses that to her advantage as long as she can...at least, long enough to give them a face full of missiles.

She seems to have something resembling an actual friendship with Lugnutz. And while she's generally disappointed if guys aren't fawning over her, she's found that she wants nothing to do with the geeky Shortround, who is infatuated with her. On the other end of the spectrum, she has quickly gained the undying hatred of the human girl Lori.

Thunderblast arrived on Earth in the colony ship Atlantis millions of years ago. While the Autobots watched over and guided human evolution, the Decepticons terrorized the humans, inspiring the myths and legends of old; Thunderblast was the inspiration for the myth of Lorelei and possibly the Sirens. These "monsters" were rounded up by the "monster hunter" Crosswise, who locked up the criminals inside a prison located in the center of the Earth (called the "Earth's Navel"), where they stayed until they were released by Starscream in the present day.

Thunderblast and Lugnutz defended Starscream's volcano-island base from the Autobots and Decepticons...up to a point. While Lugnutz decided simply to wander away from the "heavy scene", Thunderblast found herself less than impressed with Starscream and took to following Megatron (whose power was just soooooo dreamy), joining his forces as they journeyed to Cybertron, which transformed into Primus's gargantuan robot mode.

There, while admiring her looks in a mirrored satellite, she was interrupted by a super-sized Starscream, who gave her the choice to steal the Omega Lock or get blasted to smithereens. She took the former option, but managed to weasel her way out of it by lying to Starscream, luring him planetside, then telling Megatron that she was ordered to attack him. Starscream arrived and the two bickered until they were interrupted by Optimus Prime and Wing Saber. All parties involved rocketed off to fight, leaving her free to wander off unperturbed. Escape (episode) Shortly afterwards, she tracked Jetfire and Wing Saber, leading Megatron to the missing Atlantis starship. Titans

When Megatron returned from the fire dimension, Thunderblast and the others continued to follow him, all the way to Gigantion. There, when she teamed up with Scourge in a hunt for the planet's Cyber Planet Key, they ran across an Autobot party consisting of Override, Wing Saber and the human Lori. Thunderblast and Lori very quickly got on each others' nerves, both browbeating Scourge, and when Thunderblast took off, Lori scared Wing Saber into following, leaving Scourge and Override to duke it out.

Wing Saber chased Thunderblast through the lower levels, but it was a trap, since the Decepticon was leading them to a harbor area, and water combat was Thunderblast's element. Wind Saber took a fair pummeling, but Lori noticed a cluster of cranes, and she set them up so Wing Saber could lure the overconfident "floozy" (Lori's words). Thunderblast was crushed under a half-dozen massive claws, and Wing Saber took the chance to blast her while she was down, the explosion sending her flying away uncontrollably. Ambush

When Megatron (now Galvatron) and Starscream dueled over the Omega Lock and the four Cyber Planet Keys, Thunderblast briefly wondered if she was infatuated with the wrong 'bot. But when Galvatron emerged victorious, she followed him back to Cybertron happily. There, she and the few remaining Decepticons still loyal to Galvatron (Thundercracker, Ransack and Crumplezone) were given a boost of Omega Lock power, super-sizing them so they could take on the massed armies that had gathered from all of the colony worlds to oppose them. After being assaulted (and insulted) by Undermine and Brimstone, Thunderblast found herself going up against her old friend Lugnutz. Though she seemed shocked he'd side with the "good guys", she got over it pretty quickly and had no compunctions about trying to blow him away.

Ultimately, Galvatron's plot failed. Thunderblast realized that Galvatron was going to let her die in the cataclysm that his plan would have caused, and she ran off along with the other now-de-powered Decepticons. When the rocket boosters built on the Jungle Planet to push the world back to its normal place in the cosmos began to fail, the four Decepticons arrived, cackling...and helped with the efforts to keep the thrusters upright and functional, deciding to try being on the winning team for once.

Afterwards, Thunderblast, Ransack and Crumplezone went to each world, trying to find a place to fit in and failing. Thunderblast in particular threw herself at about every strong male bot around, but it seemed no one was even remotely interested. When the Autobots were ready to begin their Space Bridge initiative, the trio built a rickety rocket, shanghaied the reluctant Thundercracker (who was really enjoying being an Autobot), and took off for parts unknown as the New Decepticon Army.

They made it as far as Mars before the rocket crashed.
When Megatron (now Galvatron) and Starscream dueled over the Omega Lock and the four Cyber Planet Keys, Thunderblast briefly wondered if she was infatuated with the wrong 'bot. There, she and the few remaining Decepticons still loyal to Galvatron (Thundercracker, Ransack and Crumplezone) were given a boost of Omega Lock power, super-sizing them so they could take on the massed armies that had gathered from all of the colony worlds to oppose them.

Thunderblast is obsessed with power. Not attaining it for herself, but rather, latching onto a "male" Transformer who has a lot of power.
:Thunderblast is a Decepticon from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

:Japanese name: Chromia
The rest of her dialog is performed by a male voice actor...</ref>

If mighty Megatron were to command Lugnut to jump, the powerful Decepticon would be in the upper atmosphere long before his master could specify how high. In Lugnut's optic, bold, heroic Megatron embodies the Decepticon cause, and his devotion is total. It's easy to misinterpret Lugnut’s blind zeal for a lack of overall processing power, but this is not the case. Although he isn't much of a thinker or planner, Lugnut does not care, for wise Megatron is brilliant enough for a thousand Decepticons. His master makes the plans, and Lugnut carries them out. However, that blind loyalty is his weakness. Although innovative on the battle field, he does little thinking about anything else.

Besides his compulsion to serve Megatron, the only other driving force in his programming is to destroy the Autobots. Renowned throughout Cybertron as one of the most destructive fighters for the Decepticon cause, Lugnut has no time or patience for contemplation or strategy when he could just as easily level an entire Autobot battalion with a single explosive punch. He knows that his unparalleled strength, endurance, and seemingly limitless missile payload is enough to serve glorious, bold, fresh-scented MEGATRON! Autobots that know him know the only way to survive a fight with him is to stay clear of his path.

He will only keep company with Decepticons who are as loyal to the grand and imperious Megatron as he is. There aren't too many of those. Traitors and disgraces such as Starscream and Lockdown are not worthy of mention, let alone being in the presence of the glorious Megatron. Granted, even magnanimous Megatron himself can get a little tired of Lugnut's praises, but he keeps it to himself, lest Lugnut should lose faith in mighty Megatron.
Lugnut was on board the Nemesis with Megatron, Starscream, Blitzwing and Blackarachnia when they discovered the AllSpark. Doubting that it was near, Starscream insulted Megatron (out of the latter's presence, of course) as a fool who was chasing a ghost. Furious, Lugnut leapt in and roared at the "traitor" about how Megatron would lead the Decepticons to a new age. Blackarachnia mocked him, asking if the speech was memorized or just hardwired into his one-track processor. Blitzwing indirectly defended Lugnut by insulting Blackarachnia, but soon burst into song, prompting all the Decepticons to argue until the entry of Megatron silenced them. Later, when it became clear the Nemesis was going to crash into an exploding space bridge, Lugnut showed uncharacteristic intelligence by fleeing in an escape pod. Transform and Roll Out!

After arriving on Earth's Moon, Lugnut and Blitzwing discovered the Nemesis, near where Blitzwing mentioned that Lockdown had last reported. Lugnut did not care for the bounty hunter or his mission, for he still believed that Megatron was alive. Heading to Earth, the two crash landed at a construction site, where Lugnut interrogated a crane on Megatron's whereabouts with little success. After randomly destroying everything in sight, Lugnut and Blitzwing had a battle with the Autobots. Lugnut easily outgunned the Autobots himself, and was able to throw Bulkhead around like he was nothing. When he demanded to know where Megatron was, Bumblebee mentioned that he was reduced to a "fireball somewhere over Cleveland". Screaming "Megatron lives", Lugnut knocked out the Autobots with his rocket punch (which Blitzwing says he told him "a thousand times" to warn him before using), which convinced Megatron that Lugnut could be trusted. He contacted only Lugnut, who, in his eagerness, dragged Blitzwing away from the fight. Blitzwing thought that Lugnut had finally overheated his motherboard and headbutted him, causing Blitzwing to fall straight smack dab in the middle of a military base. When they heard police cars approaching, Blitzwing suggested that they lay low to determine their strengths, but Lugnut planned to slaughter them en masse. An annoyed Megatron told him to shut up and get a disguise.

That evening, Megatron contacted Lugnut, uploading a sample of the AllSpark key's energy signature, and instructed him to use it to find the AllSpark itself, which would restore Megatron. Heading for Lake Erie, the two Decepticons tracked down the Autobots' ship. Once they'd followed the Autobots below its surface, Lugnut showed remarkable intelligence by being reluctant to enter the underwater smokescreen Optimus Prime had created, although he still entered to follow Blitzwing. Obscured by kicked-up dust, his targeting systems still found a body in the haze. Pleased that his targeting sensors had not failed him, he firedm-on Blitzwing. The Autobots seemed to have the upper hand when Lugnut again displayed unexpected smarts by transforming and using his jet thrusters to blow away the obscuring dirt. Unfortunately for him and Blitzwing, just as they were going destroy the Autobots, Ratchet and Sari Sumdac brought the weapon systems of the Autobots' ship online. The two Decepticons were blasted to the shores of Lake Erie in several pieces, severing Megatron's radio link with Lugnut and thus leaving the poor lunk to believe that his master had forsaken him. The next morning, Starscream appeared and promised to repair them—if they swore loyalty to him. Lost and Found (Animated episode)

For reasons beyond understanding, Lugnut agreed to Starscream's request, but was quick to remind the upstart that they served not by choice. However, when Megatron contacted him, Lugnut immediately repledged himself to Megatron. The Decepticon leader told Lugnut to locate the key and bring it to him. Taking it from Ratchet, they flew to Sumdac Tower, where Lugnut blabbed the whole Decepticon thing to Isaac Sumdac, forcing him to kneel to Megatron. Now that he knew Lugnut wasn't totally bonkers (like him), Blitzwing used the key to help Megatron repair his body and restore him. Megatron Rising - Part 1

As Megatron proceeded to beat up the Autobots, Blitzwing and Lugnut decided not to intervene, but to keep an eye on Professor Sumdac. As Megatron called his loyal troops to him, Lugnut briefly found himself humiliated by Starscream, but then got to look on as Megatron made an example of the schemer. The Decepticons took to the air, locating and attacking the Autobots' ship as it travelled from the lake to the Tower, then from the Tower to Dinobot Island, where it was shot down. Bulkhead leapt into the air and Jet-Judo'd Lugnut, and the two landed in the forest. Although Lugnut was the physically stronger of the pair and tossed Bulkhead around like a beach ball, his zeal let him down. He prepared to use his powerful punch...and Bulkhead slammed the ignition point with his wrecking ball, causing a powerful explosion that defeated the brute. Megatron Rising - Part 2

After the battle with Bulkhead, Lugnut helped the Decepticons set up a base in a mine, even though his left arm kept falling off. Not realizing that the mine's carbon deposits shielded their energy signatures from Autobot detection, Lugnut did not understand why they had to hide. He was even more confused by Megatron's plan to conquer Cybertron, but this didn't prevent him from hitting a doubting Blitzwing. Things became clearer to Lugnut when Megatron said that they would use space bridge technology, one of the two reasons they lost the Great War, to reach and conquer Cybertron. First, they needed Isaac Sumdac, who had been captured by Megatron, in order to reverse-engineer the missing pieces of the space bridge data Megatron had copied. When a servant-bot in Sumdac's enclosure malfunctioned, Lugnut accused the professor of sabotaging Megatron's plans. However, he backed down at the behest of Megatron, who learned the servant-bot had acted as it did because it had a fragment of the AllSpark in its circuits. The Elite Guard

Lugnut and Blitzwing were sent by Megatron to steal a tachyon generator from the Elite Guard's ship. Lugnut was able to acquire the generator, when Starscream appeared and tried to destroy Megatron. After the Decepticon leader offlined him, Lugnut confirmed that Starscream was dead. After all, there was no spark in his spark chamber, so he had to be dead. Despite this, Starscream kept coming back and trying to kill Megatron, and Lugnut spent the rest of the night repeatedly throwing his corpse into a river. Mission Accomplished

When Lugnut later detected an AllSpark fragment, Megatron sent him to retrieve it, partially to be rid of his sycophantic subject for a while. Discovering it in a garbage truck, Lugnut believed it was being transported by a human. He was thus surprised when the truck transformed into a robot named Wreck-Gar. The simple-minded robot soon confused poor Lugnut with his habit of mirroring what was being said to him, so Lugnut came to believe that Wreck-Gar was a Decepticon like him. Pleased that the new Transformer was a Decepticon, Lugnut celebrated the discovery with a resounding cry of "All hail Megatron!" Wreck-Gar followed suit...then asked who Megatron was.
When the Autobots arrived and verbally accosted Wreck-Gar, Lugnut came out of hiding and prepared to use his bomb punch on Ratchet. Wreck-Gar then responded to the threatened use of the Punch of Kill Everything with the universal greeting...and a high-five. Despite the premature detonation, Lugnut was left unharmed, but grew increasingly impatient with Wreck-Gar's lack of comprehension. Attempting to attack the Autobots, he took off in plane mode with Wreck-Gar still on his back. However, when Wreck-Gar caused his tail/mace to become infected with matter-eating microbots, Lugnut panicked and demanded that Wreck-Gar get the microbots off him. The obliging robot responded by simply unscrewing Lugnut's tail assembly, leaving Lugnut rather unsteady in the air. Garbage In, Garbage Out

Later on, Lugnut was sent with Blitzwing to recover parts for Megatron's new space bridge, and the two began stealing caches of construction materials. During one such raid, the Autobots became involved, and Lugnut's singlemindedness meant that he practically ignored Bumblebee's stinger attack, not even slowing down until a pipe fell in his path and sent him falling. He then departed in his bomber mode to unload the material. Sometime later, he and Blitzwing began moving two huge containers of heavy supplies, and Lugnut was most offended when Blitzwing noted how Megatron was curiously absent when they were moving such heavy equipment. Soon afterward, they encountered the Constructicons. Lugnut was suspicious of these newly created machines, but Blitzwing convinced him to allow them to do the heavy lifting until they reached base, at which point they would eliminate the two newcomers. At base, Blitzwing kept them distracted so Lugnut could activate his rocket punch, but at the last second, Megatron told him to stop. Unfortunately, this caused poor Lugnut to lose balance, fall into a cave and detonate his weapon in his own face. Ever the trooper, he tersely acknowledged he was still all right. Rise of the Constructicons
: Luggy transforms into a big ol' retro-futuristic bomber plane with a nose of a B-29. He also suffers from Bulkhead syndrome, as his robot mode is tiny compared to most Voyagers. A good portion of his vehicle mode transforms into a big ass mace, almost as big as Lugnut himself. (Who isn't all that bigger than Bumblebee.) He features three automorph gimmicks in his head, mace, and hands. The mace connects with a special tab into Lugnut's hand and activates its gimmick: Tapping the bottom of the mace on the ground while he holds it causes the engine pods to pop open.
Trivia
*At 2008, it was revealed that Lugnut's name derives from an earlier stage in his development; at one point he was going to be more Frankenstein's Monster-esque, with giant bolts (or "nuts") sticking out from his neck. While this concept was effectively discarded, the character kept "Lugnut" for his final name... but it works well enough on its own, as he is a big lug.
