Silverbolt showed the rest of the Aerialbots how [[Sparkplug_Witwicky|Sparkplug]] was able to disregard his fatigue out of concern for [[Omega_Supreme_(G1)|Omega Supreme's]] well-being, thus demonstrating to his team mates that humans were worth saving. With that knowledge, the Aerialbots joined the Autobots in battle against [[Megatron_(G1)|Megatron's]] [[Stunticon|Stuncticons]]. The [[Decepticon]] leader, seeing his new warriors being outmaneuvered, ordered them to merge and form [[Menasor_(G1)|Menasor]]. The Aerialbots countered to form Superion.

At first, Superion was able to match Menasor, but the Decepticon combiner's sheer aggression soon saw the Autobot on the defensive until he was trapped. As Menasor moved in for the kill, the newly-repaired Omega Supreme suddenly appeared, helping Superion free. Sometime afterwards on [[Cybertron_(planet)|Cybertron]], Superion had to fight against a damaged [[Guardian_robot|Guardian robot]], whose immense strength pinned the Autobot down until he managed to knock the drone into the sky, destroying it. {{Storylink|War Dawn}}

''Superion was first depicted in a series of visions experienced by [[Buster Witwicky]], the Autobots' human friend who had once contained the [[Creation Matrix]] itself within his brain. After a particularly serious nightmare, Buster subconsciously drew the image of a five-jet combiner robot, a design far more sophisticated than what had been achieved by Cybertronian science up 'til that point. {{storylink|Devastation Derby!}} Another series of surreal dream images from Buster's mind saw the jet combiner in action, first destroying the Decepticon commander [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] who had recently bedeviled Buster, and then fighting against a new car-robot combiner. After a successful siege on the Decepticon mining base enabled [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] to record the transformation sequence of the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]]s forming [[Devastator]], Wheeljack went to work reverse-engineering and refining the process to create the Autobot Aerialbots and their combined form, Superion. {{storylink|Command Performances!}} Unfortunately, the Aerialbots were called into action at Hoover Dam before the personality programming could be completed. Only Silverbolt had been inputted with the necessary protocols that caused him to respect life and protect the humans at all costs. When the Aerialbots were forced to combine in order to destroy a massive energy drill sent over by the [[Space Bridge]], Superion was confronted with a human pawn named [[Ricky Vasquez]] carrying [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] in gun mode, infused with a [[cerebro-shell]] that forced him to obey the Decepticons' will. Still, Vasquez had begun to fight the Decepticons' control over him, and he tried to resist Megatron's order to shoot Superion. Seeing the human as a danger to his mission, Superion attempted to crush Vasquez and end the threat, but Silverbolt loudly cried out against that course of action inside his head. Strangely, Vasquez and Superion ended up not fighting each other, but themselves, frozen in mid-action as they fought against their own inner drives. Following the near fatality at Hoover Dam, the Autobots erased the Aerialbots' programming and memories, reconstructing their minds from scratch and giving them an infusion of Matrix energy to start over again. Superion next saw action against the Decepticon combiner known as Menasor, fighting to protect his comrade [[Skids]] and their human ally, [[Donny Finkleberg]]. Their fight was cut short, however, when the monomaniacal [[RAAT]] agent named [[Circuit Breaker]] used her powers to overload Superion's circuitry, leaving him open to a blast from Menasor's [[cyclone gun]]. The RAAT agents managed to dismantle the combiner into his separate Aerialbot bodies and took them all captive along with several other Autobots. When Optimus Prime determined that a new human construction named [[Power Station Alpha]] might tempt the Decepticons into action, he sent Bumblebee to attend the unveiling as a precautionary surveillance measure. Sure enough, [[Bombshell]] made an appearance, and so Optimus sent Silverbolt and the Aerialbots as back-up. They arrived just in time to see Bumblebee being blown away by the [[G.I. Joe]] team guarding Power Station Alpha. Assuming their Superion form, the Aerialbots attempted to threaten the humans into allowing them to retrieve Bumblebee's body. An intense but one-sided conflict raged between Superion and the Joes until he received a signal from [[Blaster]], conveying the horrific news that Optimus Prime had died in battle while the Aerialbots were on their mission. After [[Robert Hallo|General Hallo]] and [[Spike Witwicky]] revived [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], Superion was one of several warriors that the Autobot leader called upon from the depths of the sea. Superion served as the Autobots' heavy hitter in their mission to stop [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron's]] mad plan to infect the world with technomatter virus similar to the effect the Key to [[Vector Sigma]] had on organic life. :Superion is formed out of all five Aerialbot toys, with Silverbolt serving as the cental body component, and the four smaller team members as limbs, using additional attachments for Superion's hands and feet. A helmet covers Silverbolt's head and a red waist plate attaches onto his chest piece. He carries Silverbolt's rifle as his main weapon.

The focus is being put firmly on characterization, dynamic action, and humor.

The episodes center not only on the war between the [[Autobot]]s and the [[Decepticon]]s, but also on the Autobots' interactions with many of [[Detroit]]'s [[human]] supervillain denizens, including a [[Angry Archer|maladjusted marksman]], a [[Nanosec|speedy racer]], and a guy who [[Prometheus Black|looks good in a pimp suit]]. The idea is to present the Decepticons as more of an ongoing background threat instead of having them be repeatedly defeated each episode and look like bumbling fools. Rather, the arrival of a Decepticon in battle is supposed to be a big deal, requiring multiple Autobots working together to stop even a single one. The human villains will give the Autobots "everyday" threats--and no doubt their schemes will turn out to be the result of Decepticon treachery. Variously referred to as "the Singapore dub" or "the Star TV dub" (though in fact originating from RTM in Malaysia), these translations feature voice acting of questionable quality (some fans suspect a single actor did the bulk of the voices), and almost random re-naming of characters and artifacts: Blaster becomes "Billy", Blur becomes known as "Wally", Hot Rod is "Rodimus Prime" (pronounced "Roadimus Prime"), the Matrix becomes "the Power Pack", Spike is "Sparkle", Soundblaster is "New Soundwave", Metroplex is called "Phillip", and Fortress Maximus is known as "Spaceship Bruce".

==Detailed synopsis==
Stuck in a cosmic "time out" with the [[Combaticon]]s, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] decides to book it, declaring the Combaticons incompetent. Unphased, [[Onslaught]] has developed a plan of revenge; [[Blast Off]] is towing their asteroid to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. The Combaticons' arrival on Cybertron interrupts a little target practice [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] is holding for the [[Sentinel (G1)|Sentinel drones]]. The Combaticons merge into [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], decimate the Sentinels, and launch gun-mode Shockwave into deep space. Onslaught declares that Operation: Revenge has begun.

On [[Earth]], [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] is overseeing the [[Insecticon]] army, as they devour a city one building at a time. [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Autobot]]s arrive, but the Insecticons are moving into a nearby neighborhood that is still inhabited. Unwilling to risk civilian casualties, Prime sends in the [[Protectobot]]s to evacuate the civilians.

At the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]], [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] is giving [[Spike Witwicky]] a little astronomy lesson about shooting stars, noting that the odds of an ''actual'' star colliding with the Earth are slim...

Meanwhile, out in space, Starscream literally runs into Shockwave. Apparently unaware that Starscream has been exiled, Shockwave enlists his help to rescue Cybertron.

At Shockwave's base, [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]] is itching for a fight, Blast Off advises calm, as Onslaught is sure to have a plan. That plan involves the [[space bridge]]. Though it is far ahead of any Decepticon technology Onslaught has previously seen, he manages to rig the space bridge to move Earth into its [[sun]], which will destroy the Decepticons and the Autobots at the same time!

On Earth, the humans have been successfully evacuated from the city, and the Autobots begin blasting the Insecticons to bits. However, Spike and Perceptor arrive, having learned of Earth's altered orbit, and inform Prime of the peril. The Autobots head for the space bridge, and Megatron orders [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]] to remove the space bridge's control console and evacuate.

On Cybertron, Starscream and Shockwave use a [[holographic projector]] to make the Combaticons believe that they are under attack. Shockwave discovers Onslaught's space bridge modifications, but Starscream shoots him, then sends Megatron an ultimatum: Surrender leadership of the Decepticons, or everything on Earth, including Megatron and the Decepticons, will fry. However, the Combaticons eventually figure out the ruse, and they imprison Starscream and Shockwave.

Megatron sends [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] and [[Ramjet]] to locate the [[Insecticon]]s, but they discover that the bug-bots have chewed up the console. The Autobots, who have also tracked down the Decepticons, offered to assist Megatron and the Decepticons. Perceptor repairs the console with parts from Prime and Megatron, and the united teams head to Cybertron.

The two teams free Starscream and Shockwave, the former loudly protesting that he was forced to threaten Megatron by the Combaticons, and the latter immediately denouncing the story as lies. Before anyone can do anything else, the Combaticons attack, merging into Bruticus when the fight turns against them. Starscream reveals that Bruticus has one weak point on his body that, if blasted, will shut him down. Prime manages to shoot the weak point, and [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] reverses the space bridge, returning Earth to its proper orbit.

Prime and Megatron agree to destroy Bruticus, and Megatron allows the Autobots to leave unharmed. However, the Decepticons have faked Bruticus' destruction, and reprogrammed the real Bruticus to serve Megatron. Megatron pardons Starscream and restores him to the Decepticon ranks.

[[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] sends the [[Stunticon]]s on a mission to find components for an unrevealed purpose, including the world’s largest, most perfect ruby. While searching for their components, the actions of the Stunticons catch the attention of the [[Autobot]]s, who track their movements and their crimes. Breakdown and Wildrider get the first component: laserlenses from a scientist. Dead End and Drag Strip get the second component: an experimental generator from the army. Motormaster gets the last one: a perfect ruby from a museum.

The Autobots split into teams and manage to be extremely effective at capturing the Stunticons in the middle of their capers. [[Grapple]], [[Hoist]], and [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] take on [[Breakdown]] and [[Wildrider]]. [[Warpath (G1)|Warpath]] and [[Tracks]] take on [[Dead End (G1)|Dead End]] and [[Drag Strip]]. Finally, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], [[Blaster]], and [[Spike Witwicky]] go for [[Motormaster]], who challenges the [[Prime (rank)|Autobot leader]] to a game “chicken” and ends up in a head on collision. Spike, Bumblebee, and Blaster peer through the dust to see who survived, and it turns out that Optimus is the clear victor, while Motormaster lies in a wreck.

Although all five Stunticons captured, the Autobots still don’t know what their plans were for the components they stole for Megatron. [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] guesses that the parts are going to be made into a weapon (nooo, really?). Optimus hatches a scheme to disguise Autobots using camouflage paint and penetrate the Decepticon camp disguised as Stunticons: Optimus Prime as Motormaster, [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] as Dead End, [[Sideswipe]] as Breakdown, [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]] as Drag Strip, and [[Windcharger]] as Wildrider.

The disguised Autobots infiltrate the Decepticons, although their arrival causes some raised eyebrows because they are driving too “safely.” They deliver the stolen components to Megatron without being detected.

Back at the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]], the Stunticons manage to shimmy and shake their way out of their cells, merge into [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]] and overcome their Autobot captors. They then head back to the Decepticon base.

The Constructicons complete Megatron’s new weapon and he reveals its power, but just then Menasor arrives declare the Autobots as infiltrators. Using Windcharger’s electric field ability and Mirage’s illusion power, the Autobots merge into their own Menasor. The two giants battle it out, and the Autobots are overcome. Megatron trains the new weapon on the Autobots, but the device blows up in his face after a few scattered shots.

Autobot reinforcements arrive and the Decepticons flee without their usual promises for revenge. It is revealed that Ironhide had made adjustments to the ruby back at Autobot HQ, which caused the device to explode. The Autobots head for home, victorious.

The disguised Autobots infiltrate the Decepticons, although their arrival causes some raised eyebrows because they are driving too “safely.” They deliver the stolen components to Megatron without being detected.

Back at the [[Ark (G1)|Autobot base]], the Stunticons manage to shimmy and shake their way out of their cells, merge into [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]] and overcome their Autobot captors. They then head back to the Decepticon base.

The Constructicons complete Megatron’s new weapon and he reveals its power, but just then Menasor arrives declare the Autobots as infiltrators. Using Windcharger’s electric field ability and Mirage’s illusion power, the Autobots merge into their own Menasor. The two giants battle it out, and the Autobots are overcome. Megatron trains the new weapon on the Autobots, but the device blows up in his face after a few scattered shots.

Autobot reinforcements arrive and the Decepticons flee without their usual promises for revenge. It is revealed that Ironhide had made adjustments to the ruby back at Autobot HQ, which caused the device to explode. The Autobots head for home, victorious.

The disguised Autobots infiltrate the Decepticons, although their arrival causes some raised eyebrows because they are driving too “safely.” They deliver the stolen components to Megatron without being detected.

Back at the Ark, the Stunticons manage to shimmy and shake their way out of their cells, merge into [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]] and overcome their Autobot captors. They then head back to the Decepticon base.

The Constructicons complete Megatron’s new weapon and he reveals its power, but just then Menasor arrives declare the Autobots as infiltrators. Using Windcharger’s electric field ability and Mirage’s illusion power, the Autobots merge into their own Menasor. The two giants battle it out, and the Autobots are overcome. Megatron trains the new weapon on the Autobots, but the device blows up in his face after a few scattered shots.

Autobot reinforcements arrive and the Decepticons flee without their usual promises for revenge. It is revealed that Ironhide had made adjustments to the ruby back at Autobot HQ, which caused the device to explode. The Autobots head for home, victorious.

The Autobots split into teams and manage to be extremely effective at capturing the Stunticons in the middle of their capers. [[Spike Witwicky|Spike]] and [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]] peer through the dust to see who survived, and it turns out that Optimus is the clear victor, while Motormaster lies in a wreck.

Although all five Stunticons captured, the Autobots still don’t know what their plans were for the components they stole for Megatron. The disguised Autobots infiltrate the Decepticons, although their arrival causes some raised eyebrows because they are driving too “safely.” They deliver the stolen components to Megatron without being detected.

Back at the Ark, the Stunticons manage to shimmy and shake their way out of their cells, merge into [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]] and overcome their Autobot captors. They then head back to the Decepticon base.

The Constructicons complete Megatron’s new weapon and he reveals its power, but just then Menasor arrives declare the Autobots as infiltrators. Using Windcharger’s electric field ability and Mirage’s illusion power, the Autobots merge into their own Menasor. The two giants battle it out, and the Autobots are overcome. Megatron trains the new weapon on the Autobots, but the device blows up in his face after a few scattered shots.

Autobot reinforcements arrive and the Decepticons flee without their usual promises for revenge. It is revealed that Ironhide had made adjustments to the ruby back at Autobot HQ, which caused the device to explode. The Autobots head for home, victorious.

Dead End, along with the other Stunticons, was given [[spark|life]] by Vector Sigma in an attempt by [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] to form a ground based unit. Seeing little choice in the matter, Dead End decided to do what Megatron said. {{storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1}}

While Megatron was attempting to recover the infamous [[Pearl of Bahoudin]] in Turkey, he ordered the Stunticons to dispose of several Autobots who were nearby participating the [[Europa 2000]] charity race. While his fellow Stunticons surrounded the brothers [[Sunstreaker]] and [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]], Dead End lept ahead of the racers and transformed, blasting the boxed-in Autobots off the road. They disabled several more racers, but when Dead End set a trap for [[Bluestreak]], the wily gunner managed to escape his attackers. {{Storylink|Trans-Europe Express}}

On another occasion, Megatron instructed the Stunticons to bring him a series of scientific components for his latest Unbeatable Super Weapon. Dead End and [[Drag Strip]] were assigned to acquire an experimental generator from the U.S. military. The retrieval was successful, but they encountered the Autobots [[Tracks]] and [[Warpath]] on the drive to their rendez-vous with Megatron. Dead End was disabled by a blast of Tracks' black beam gun, followed by Warpath putting his fist through the Stunticon's roof. Disabled and collected as prisoners of war, the Stunticons were brought back to the Ark and held in captivity while [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and strike team of Autobots used camouflage paint to mimic the Stunticons and infiltrate Megatron's camp. Special operations agent [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] assumed Dead End's appearance. The real Stunticons managed to break free, however, and confronted their dopplegangers as Menasor. Caught up in a demolition derby, the Stunticons missed most of the "civil war" between the Decepticons and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]'s [[Combaticon]]s. They arrived at the battle site just as Starscream was declaring victory over Megatron. Dead End didn't particularly care either way, until [[Motormaster]] pointed out that Starscream was insufferable enough already without being in charge, and Dead End quickly conceded that point. At some point in Cybertron's recent history, the Stunticons were deemed psychotic and too dangerous to function in society, and as a result were placed into perpetual stasis lock inside of a prison facility. Later, in an attempt to create a diversion while he set his final plans in motion, [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] arranged for the release of the Stunticons. They formed into Menasor and ran amuck for awhile, until [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] arrived and began insulting them. Unable to reconcile with this, the five Stunticons began to bicker with each other over whose fault it was that they were failing, temporarily stopping Menasor and allowing Ultra Magnus to ram the combiner in the chest, forcing him to separate into his component parts and disabling the Stunticons.

: In robot mode he transforms similarly to ''Alternators'' [[Sideswipe (G1)|Side Swipe]], and has [[Sunstreaker]]'s head, as his tooling was originally designed as the latter Autobot. As a retool of Side Swipe, several of his parts are different, including the hood, wheels, roof, the entire rear end of the car, chest and head. He is armed with a vacuum-metalized silver gun formed out of his engine.

: The main difference between the US ''Alternators'' release of this toy and the Japanese ''Binaltech'' version is that the ''Binaltech'' version is constructed partially out of die-cast metal.
