The DS iteration of Transformers The Game actually consists of two separate games: Transformers Autobots and Transformers Decepticons. The games have different storylines and environments, but the basic gameplay elements are shared between them.

In both games, the player creates a character who can scan many different transforming forms. Each game features missions involving this character as well as missions focused on the movie cast.
Autobots
As mentioned, this game revolves around the Autobots and their attempts at preventing the destruction of Earth and the resurrection of Lord Megatron, the former military leader of Cybertron. After the battle of Tyger Pax, Create-A-Bot Arrives on Earth, landing in the Las Vegas Casino Strip. After a quick run-down with Ironhide, he teams up with his fellow Autobots to retrieve the AllSpark, searching the quiet (and appropriately named) city of Tranquility, but later heading to the Hoover Dam and even going as far as the Arctic to find the frozen remains of Megatron. All the while, Create-A-Bot must learn what it truly means to be and Autobot.
Decepticons
Similar in setting but unique in portrayal is the flip side of the story, Decepticons. Here, a nearly identical robot has come to Earth at the command of Starscream to find the source of a distress signal from a "lost" Decepticon somewhere in the area. However, Starscream keeps many important pieces of information to himself, including the location of the AllSpark and the identity of the Transformer locked in the icy grip of the Arctic. While this Create-A-Bot has to learn that being a Decepticon means loyalty to Megatron, it also becomes apparent that though they fight for different reasons, the Autobots and Decepticons are aiming for the same goal, namely peace on Cybertron, and also that their senses of honor are not that far off.

This game is also unique in that the Arctic level is replaced with Qatar, and that this Create-A-Bot is almost immediately put into a position of authority, mainly because Starscream wants everyone dead.
He has never seen his people's home world of Cybertron, making him a testament to the effect that the war between the Autobots and Decepticons has had on Transformers of his generation.
Transformers: Autobots
:Voice actor: Steve Blum

:Create-A-Bot arrived on Earth to assist the Autobots already there. Not aware of the true nature of his mission at first, he eventually found out that the Autobots were on Earth to retrieve both the All Spark and Megatron. Being the youngest and most inexperienced member of Optimus Prime's team, he was determined to prove himself. Unfortunately, his brashness nearly cost him when he went against orders and assisted Bumblebee in distracting Sector Seven agents, only to end up luring them back to him. Bumblebee threw himself in the line of fire to allow Create-A-Bot to escape, which left the young one ridden with guilt. He managed to rescue Bumblebee and earn the other Autobots' respect. When Megatron took the All Spark and battled Prime, Create-A-Bot attacked him, knocked the All Spark out of Megatron's hands and jammed it into his chest, taking his own life to weaken Megatron. After Prime defeated Megatron, Create-A-Bot's last wishes were that Prime make Earth the new home of the Autobots, to defend it against any other Decepticon threats.
*Create-A-Bot's origin is hard to reconcile with other movie fiction as he is a pre-existing Transformer (and thus presumably created by the All Spark), yet he has never seen Cybertron, the only place the All Spark ever WAS before being lost. Maybe he was born blind?

*Several of Create-A-Bot's alternate modes cannot be accessed in the game, but can be obtained by WiFi points in the Transformers: Autobots/Decepticons online game, Battle for the AllSpark (sic).
The Decepticon "Create-A-Bot" is a rookie in the Decepticon army sent to Earth in search of the All Spark.

Fiction
Transformers Autobots
:Voice actor: Steve Blum

The first time the evil multi-former (named Unknown in this version, & in the form of a dark blue SUV) appears is as the first boss of the game (after his Autobot equal destroys three drones as bait to destroy him), where he faces off against his identically voiced Autobot counterpart before the do-gooder can escape to Tranquility, despite that he is "No one to be trifled with". He is later seen when the Autobots eavesdrop on a conversation with Megatron in the Hoover Dam about the bombs planted on the Dam that could result in thousands of human casualties.

Transformers Decepticons
Commanded by Lord Starscream, Create-A-Bot arrived on Earth to locate the origin of a Decepticon distress beacon. At first, little information was divulged to the other Decepticons until Starscream arrived on Earth himself. In the mean time, Barricade reluctantly showed Create-A-Bot the ropes, and later put him in charge of the other Decepticons. After a long search through the Middle East, the Decepticons began having their suspicions that the lost Decepticon was in fact Megatron, who Create-A-Bot dismissed as a relic.

After the other Decepticons left Create-A-Bot to his own devices, Starscream finally arrived on Earth, personally greeting Create-A-Bot by nearly landing on him. Finally explaining his motives (in his own ass-backwards Starscream way) he lied through his teeth saying that releasing Megatron would cause the downfall of the Decepticons, and that the AllSpark was actually on Earth (which it was). He then explained (lying again this time) that he simply wanted the AllSpark to prevent a power struggle as he would need his full attention on preventing Megatron's revival.

That didn't work.

Once Starscream got a hold of the AllSpark, Create-A-Bot had already helped to liberate Megatron from his icy tomb and led him back to Tranquility, where the Decepticon tyrant and his NEW second-in-command would face off against the traitorous jetfighter. Starscream used the power of the AllSpark to power himself up to new levels (ignoring the precedent of over-powered Starscreams from inexplicably causing their own downfall) and attacking his former boss.

That didn't work either.

Outwitting the empowered Starscream, Create-A-Bot stole the AllSpark from him and smashed him in the chest, weakening him enough to have his Spark extinguished by Megatron. Create-A-Bot would die on that spot, the backlash from the AllSpark overpowering his circuits, but he died a warrior and a true Decepticon.

That didn't go over too well.

Megatron returned after Starscream's defeat only to watch and laugh as Create-A-Bot slowly died. As the young Decepticon pleaded to be repaired, Megatron would only say that his weakness was his downfall, and that all of the Decepticons who fell in battle were worthless pawns to be stripped away like rust. Create-A-Bot then watched in horror as Megatron leapt at him, tearing him apart.

Transforming into an exceptionally fast and powerful armored truck, Payload is the one the Decepticons rely on to procure the money and energy they need to function on Earth. Whatever they need, whereever they need it, in their quest for the Allspark it's Payload's job to get it to them, even if he has to smash right through Autobot lines to do it.

Both the Autobot and Decepticon armies make use of drones based on his design, which are heavily-armored, brutal melee fighters.

Fiction
Prime Directives prequel comic
Payload was one of the Decepticons who took part in the Battle of Tyger Pax. He was also with Swindle during the interrogation of the surviving Autobot defenders. Prime Directives, Part 1

Battle For the Allspark online game
Payload units of both sides have a strong defense, good attack, but poor speed. They are differentiated by little more than the make of their noggins; Autobot versions use a facemask-with-optics model, while Decepticons have a circular lens-face.

Transformers: The Game (console)
Payloads show up in Mission City to put the hurt on both Autobot and Decepticon alike. Their primary attack is an unstoppable running charge that can send even the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron reeling. The only way to break them out of this attack is to nail them with a thrown object or melee attack when they briefly pause between charges.

Payloads also appear in the bonus Cybertron levels on both sides.

Aside from the aforementioned head differences, Decepticon Payloads are dark blue, while the Autobot versions are silver-white.

Transformers: Autobots/Decepticons
Payload's body frame has been shown in numerous forms: his Armored Truck mode, the Peace Van, the Moving Truck, the School Bus, the Ice Cream Truck, the Death Truck, the Funky Bus, the SWAT Van & the Prison Bus. Certain forms have either the Autobot head or the Decepticon head, but which game is unimportant; the same vehicle has the same head in both games.
: Payload transforms into a |Bulldog II Armored Truck model based on the Decepticon-drone coloration and face type. In robot mode, his midsection has a large push-out grabber-claw that extends waaaaaaaaaaaaay far out. However, in order to do this, the claw-shaft sticks far out of his back in robot mode, making posing and display in narrow spaces difficult. It also makes him hard to balance.

: Several pieces on Payload tend to pop off easily: his brush guard, midriff-plate/claw-center, and even his upper shoulder/head assembly. The mold was later retooled to include larger pegs for the shoulder/head assembly and an added tab on the brushguard, to connect to the new slot in the claw plunger. While this was intended to give the pieces a better fit, it actually puts more pressure on the parts and causes them to pop off even easier. The chest piece, however, fits fairly well on either version but is still easy to remove.
* Payload (3D Battle Card, 2007)

: In the Transformers 3D Battle Card Game, the Payload is on the Decepticon side. Pieces punched out from two different cards can be assembled to form a SWAT truck or a robot, while a third double-sided card gives its stats and attacks for each mode. He uses the same piece layout as Ratchet, though his lens-head peeking up over the back end of his vehicle mode looks less doofy than Ratchet's does.
Swindle is not a great fighter and, more, he's dumb as a post, but he takes great glee in blowing things (any "things") to pieces and that's worth something right? Generally he leaps and hops around the battlefield like a madman, blasting explosives out of his chest cannon and laughing uncontrollably. Havoc is a given when he's around. He's also an enthusiastic but unfortunately ineffectual interrogator.
: Swindle transforms into a Chevrolet Cobalt. He's the Decepticon version, with the lens-head, and is remarkably accurate to his comic book design (with the car doors mounted on his elbows, while the game version is mounted on the shoulders). As with most of the Movie road vehicle toys, he replicates the car on which he's based realistically, even if the sculpt design is slightly genericized and has no official licensing.

:During transformation, his Automorphing gimmick flips out his head/chest section on its own from his upper torso. His torso also features a spring-loaded cannon that extends when a button on his back is pressed, and the cannon structure itself can be extended from the torso to give a more impressive appearance. This cannon gimmick can also be used in car mode, where it looks like a super-turbo-nitro exhaust pipe.

:As is the standard in the Movie toyline, Swindle features reasonable articulation in robot mode, with ball-jointed shoulders, hips and wrists, and swivels at the elbows and knees. His head can barely move, but a modification may be done by the owner to increase its range of motion.

Sometimes there are lots of him.

On both sides.

Hordes of identical Dropkick units are used by both the Autobot and Decepticon armies. Decepticons are blue with a lens-face, while Autobot versions are red and have a facemask with individual optics. They are protected from most artillery by energy shields in robot mode(Blackout's EMP bombs can penetrate the shields & damages them easily), and are fond of throwing stuff at foes rather than getting in with melee attacks.

Dropkicks are most commonly found in urban missions, but pop up for certain sub-missions in other areas as well.

Battle For the Allspark online game
Dropkick units on both sides have equal Attack & Speed abilities with a strong Defense skill.

Transformers: Autobots/Decepticons
The Dropkick body-type is used for several of the alt-modes used in the game. Additionally, many of the other smallish truck-type bodies, including the SUV, Pickup, Utility, Pickup Car, Love Cruiser (Decepticon Exclusive), Flame Truck, Maintenance (Autobot Exclusive), Construction (Decepticon Exclusive), Safari Truck, Off-Roader Raider, & Transport (Autobot Exclusive) all use the Dropkick body for Robot mode.
Transformers (2007)
*Dropkick (Deluxe, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MD-18

: Dropkick transforms into a customized Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck (or a similar model just different enough to avoid paying a licensing fee). His hood and roof feature a fairly cleverly done gigantic Decepticon symbol. His flatbed cover conceals a giant claw/plier deployed from the tailgate by a sliding knob on top. This assembly becomes a hand-held weapon for his robot mode.

: Unlike most of the other "drone" toys, Dropkick does not use the Decepticon "lens-face", instead going with a new, more complicated face design with a visor. (It is not the Autobot face from the game, but it is similar.)

:This mold was later redecoed as the Autobot Salvage.

Merchandise
* Dropkick (3D Battle Card, 2007)

: In the Transformers 3D Battle-Card Game, Dropkick is on the Decepticon side. Pieces punched out from two different cards can be assembled to form a pickup truck or a robot, while a third double-sided card gives its stats and attacks for each mode. He (it?) uses the same parts layout as Ironhide.

Trivia
* Dropkick's card art shows him with windshield wipers on his visor. They are probably to wipe away his tears.
* Dropkick, along with his redeco Salvage and the Real Gear robots, are the only Transformers in the Movie toyline not to reuse a previous name.
