==Synopsis==
In [[Axiom Nexus]], Jackpot goes through interrogation by a rather crotchety member of the [[Department of Acclimation]]. He and Hubcap have wound up in the multiversal city after some sort of [[space bridge]] accident. Designated Jackpot III, [[Generation 1 (franchise)|Primax Cluster]], he is reunited with Hubcap and introduced to their guide, Scattorshot, whose job is to introduce them to their new world. Over glasses of oil at a plaza-side pub, Scattorshot explains the way Axiom Nexus works to his offworlder guests, explaining such bureaucratic funfests as the [[Order of Bureaucratic Enlightenment]] and the [[Freelance Police Legion]], not to mention the vagaries of cross-dimensional travel. Jackpot regards the whole thing as just another travel stop, but Hubcap is uneasy about both the bureaucracy and the limitations placed on offworlders.

After Scattershot leaves them, the pair find their way to the somewhat seedy tavern ''[[The Blue Deployer]]''. Jackpot makes the acquaintance of the owner, Cryotek, while Hubcap attempts to win them some credits via gambling. Hubcap does well; playing cards against Gutcruncher, he is preparing to win a high-stakes round when a bizarre twist of Jackpot's luck-altering aura causes him to lose all his earnings, ''and'' the loan money they'd finagled in the first place.

As the two Autobots debate their next move, Gutcruncher invites them in to talk business, offering them unspecified but well-paid work if they show up at a meeting the next day. Cryotek, noting that the Autobots' monetary options are severely limited, advises them to take him up on it, despite their misgivings.

The two arrive at a massive arena filling up with all manor of unsavory mechs; finally, Gutcruncher takes the stage to speak. He rouses the rabble with a speech declaring that they, the "low-techs", should have the true power in Axiom Nexus, power withheld from them by the Transtechs. He proposes a multi-faction alliance, an end to the fighting amongst themselves, to overthrow their oppressors, escape their gilded cage, and ''take over the city!'' ''Can! You! Dig it!?!''

Hubcap and Jackpot realize they're looking at the start of an uprising, but before they can do anything, a sniper shot from right behind them kills Gutcruncher in full view of the crowd. A nearby voice accuses the Autobots of the murder; they flee in the face of an angry mob set on vengeance. The Autobots narrowly escape a run-in with the [[Malignus|Malignus Revolutionary Army]], and Hubcap overhears on police radio that they are reported to be armed and dangerous.

Unable to find help from the other-universe versions of themselves that have passed through Axiom Nexus, the pair turn to Cryotek, who politely refuses to shelter the two fugitives but advises them to try the ''[[Widow's Cafe Cybertronian]]'' instead. Running out of ideas and options, Jackpot proposes trying to find the actual killer. Before they can consider the option very much, they literally run into a law-enforcement bot, who pursues them. As they flee, a thrilled Jackpot exults that they can't possibly catch them...

When we rejoin our heroes, they are well and truly caught, held at a police station by Commander Cheetor, who cuts through their wheedling and informs them that of ''course'' they didn't murder Gutcruncher -- it doesn't fit their profiles or abilities at all -- but no mob is going to realize that. Cheetor says he's putting them under protective custody. Alarmed by the prospect of being stuck in one easy-to-locate place, Hubcap and Jackpot make a break for it. Cheetor isn't too concerned; he sends a seemingly invisible agent after them.

The escaped Autobots head for the ''Widow's Cafe Cybertronian'', but have another run-in with the Malignus Revolutionaries before they can quite get there. Another stroke of Jackpot's luck gets rid of their six pursuers for a while, while simultaneously revealing the concealed police-bot who has been tailing them. Detectas introduces himself; Cheetor sent him to tail the Autobots in hope that they would lead him to the murderer. Despite his friendly demeanor, the two Autobots are keen to move on, particularly with the Malignus bots recovered from the previous incident and closing in again. After tricking the Malignus into falling down an elevator shaft near the entrance to [[the Heap]], the two Autobots take shelter in an abandoned building to rest and recover.

Soon they are confronted by Black Shadow, whom Hubcap recognizes as one of Cryotek's employees. Black Shadow explains that he knows they couldn't have killed Gutcruncher -- because ''he'' did the deed. He gloats that he can now kill the two Autobots and toss their corpses to the gangs to satisfy their need for vengeance, collect bounties for them ''and'' Gutcruncher, and leave the cops a dead end to boot. The Autobots flee, but Black Shadow splits into his robot form and [[Crossformer]] shell, and pursues them both.

While Jackpot battles the shell, Hubcap evades Black Shadow's robot component, and tricks a passing Decepticon into giving him a ride to Level 29. After a merry chase through Zone 6, Black Shadow catches him in front of a band of Malignus bots, led by Dirge, one of Gutcruncher's cohorts. When Black Shadow announces he's brought in the assassin, Hubcap confirms it -- by playing back a recording of Black Shadow's own admission of the deed, pulled from audio backups of his own memory banks. Black Shadow points out that audio can be faked; Hubcap counters that he also has video showing Black Shadow killing Gutcruncher with a maser cannon. Black Shadow smirks and announces that he only uses photon blasters... which, Dirge quickly reveals, is the weapon that killed Gutcruncher. The mob sets on Black Shadow, and brutal justice is served.

As Black Shadow dies, his shell overloads, erupting in smoke and flame, just before it can deliver a killing stroke to Jackpot -- lucky for him! He turns around and runs right into Officer Airazor...

At his office, Cheetor sorts through the whole affair while Jackpot and Hubcap wait. The Malignus are in jail, an uprising has been averted, and many illegal weapons have been recovered from Gutcruncher's cache. The only remaining mystery is, who paid for the original hit on Gutcruncher?

Cheetor pays a visit to Cyrotek, who profusely professes his innocence. But after the police leave, Cryotek remarks to a barhand that Gutcruncher's revolution would have simply called down the full wrath of the Transtech on the Offworlder sections of the city, and that... would be bad for business.

Classified as "undesirables", Hubcap and Jackpot are shipped off-dimension post-haste. Jackpot is pleased that they'll be back on familiar territory... till he sees the smile on Cheetor's face as the transwarp field carries them away.

The pair land with a thud on an alien world, smashing a rampaging Decepticon named Killzone just before he could execute a random alien. The alien is quite grateful, if a bit confused by the turn of events. Turns out that Killzone has been ravaging the continent for days, drawn to the planet by some explosive glowing rocks that have been rising to the surface lately. The locals hate these rocks; first they caused mine and farming troubles, and now they're attracting violent space robot monsters. The two Autobots send a radio transmission, hoping to be picked up by Autobots. And while they wait for an answer, Hubcap and Jackpot offer to clean up [[Energon (fuel)|all those pesky rocks]], all for free!

==Quotes==
'''Hubcap:''' "So, when do we get to go home?"<br>
'''Scattorshot:''' "Oh, that. Whenever. You just gotta apply for exit visas, an' the 'Techs will deliver you to your universe of origin... or at least an approved alternate reality. Provided, a' course, that you ain't been designated 'units of interest'."<br>
'''Jackpot:''' "And I'll take 'Ominous Terminology' for 500 shanix, 'Shot."

"''Expression of menace and unveiled hostility. ...Ironic yet mean-spirited quip.''"<br>
:-- '''Black Shadow's Crossformer shell AI'''. It knows the words, my dear, but it will never master the tune.

"You are in Zoruul, capital city of Zegris. Please, are you to bring more terror as he did? If so, kindly strike us down in a more painless and efficient fashion, for we are running out of places to pile the rubble and the screams are disturbing the rest of the untouched."
==Synopsis==
In Axiom Nexus, Jackpot goes through interrogation by a rather crotchety member of the [[Department of Acclimation]]. He and Hubcap have wound up in the multiversal city after some sort of [[space bridge]] accident. Designated Jackpot III, Primax Cluster, he is reunited with Hubcap and introduced to their guide, Scattorshot, whose job is to introduce them to their new world. Over glasses of oil at a plaza-side pub, Scattorshot explains the way Axiom Nexus works to his offworlder guests, explaining such bureaucratic funfests as the Order of Bureaucratic Enlightenment and the Freelancer Police Legion, not to mention the vagaries of cross-dimensional travel. Jackpot regards the whole thing as just another travel stop, but Hubcap is uneasy about both the bureaucracy and the limitations placed on offworlders.

After Scattershot leaves them, the pair find their way to the somewhat seedy tavern ''The Blue Deployer''.

The Autobots narrowly escape a run-in with the Malignus Revolutionary Army, and Hubcap overhears on police radio that they are reported to be armed and dangerous.

Jackpot exults that they can't possibly catch them...

Detectas introduces himself -- Cheetor sent him to tail the Autobots in hope that they would lead him to the murderer -- but the two Autobots are already moving on, particularly with the Malignus bots recovered from the previous incident and closing in again. After tricking the Malignus into falling down an elevator shaft near the entrance to [[the Heaps]], the two Autobots take shelter in an abandoned building to rest and recover.

As they wait, they hear a lone mech approaching; Hubcap recognizes him as one of Cryotek's employees. Black Shadow speaks, aware of their presence, and explains that he knows they couldn't have killed Gutcruncher -- because ''he'' did. He gloats that he can toss the two dead Autobots to the gangs to satisfy their need for vengeance, collect bounties for them ''and'' Gutcruncher, and leave the cops a dead end to boot.

When Black Shadow announces he's brought in the assassin, Hubcap confirms it -- by playing back a recording of his earlier admission of the deed, pulled from audio backups of his own memory banks.

Black Shadow points out that audio can be faked; Hubcap counters that he also video recorded the whole incident, Black Shadow killing Gutcruncher with a maser cannon. Black Shadow smirks and announces that he only uses photo blasters... which, Dirge quickly reveals, is the weapon that killed Gutcruncher. The mob sets on Black Shadow, and brutal justice is served.

Black Shadow's shell overloads, erupting in smoke and flame, just before it can deliver a killing stroke to Jackpot -- lucky for him! He turns around and runs right into Officer Airazor...

At his office, Cheetor sorts through the whole affair while Jackpot and Hubcap wait. The Malignus are in jail, an uprising has been averted, and many illegal weapons recovered from Gutcruncher's cache. The only remaining mystery is, who paid for the original hit on Gutcruncher?

Cheetor pays a visit to Cyrotek, who profusely professes his innocence. But after the police leave, Cryotek remarks to a barhand that Gutcruncher's revolution would have simply called down the full wrath of the Transtek, and that... would be bad for business.

Classified as "undesirables", Hubcap and Jackpot are shipped off-dimension post-haste. Jackpot is pleased that they'll be back on familiar territory... till he sees the smile on Cheetor's face as the transwarp field carries them away.

The pair land with a thud on an alien world, smashing a rampaging Decepticon named Killzone just before he could execute a random alien, who is quite grateful, if a bit confused by the turn of events. Turns out the locals are quite troubled by some explosive glowing rocks that keep rising to the surface, first causing mine and farming troubles, and now attracting violent space robot monsters. With said monster out of the way, the two Autobots look for a means of getting off-world. While they wait for an answer to their radio distress call, Hubcap and Jackpot offer to clean up [[Energon (G1)|the pesky rocks]], all for free!

==Quotes==

:--'''Yurgeth''' is a practical-minded alien.
==Synopsis==

The Autobots narrowly escape a run-in with the Malignus Revolutionary Army, and Hubcap overhears on police radio that they are reported to be armed and dangerous.

Jackpot exults that they can't possibly catch them...

==Quotes==

:--'''Yurgeth''' is a practical-minded alien.
== Items of note ==
* Axiom Nexus is home to a whole host of teams, gangs, and subfactions. The [[United Anarchists League]] rule the [[Heap]], to the extent that anarchists will deign to rule anything. Gutcruncher notes in his speech that the crowd includes representatives of the [[Destructicon|Destructicons]], [[Free Technorgs League]], [[Scourges]], [[Destron Boys]], [[WildGuard]], the [[Neo-Mutant Liberators]], [[Beast-Riders]], [[Mayhem Attackers]], the [[Malignus Revolutionaries]] and the [[Junkion Rippers]]. He also mentions the [[Lightning Strikers]], [[Imperius Legions]], and [[Dinobots]].

===Cameos===
* The cameos fly fast and furious in this story, some more obvious than others. Axiom Nexus's offworld population includes two other versions of Jackpot, Gutcruncher's doorman [[Calcar]], Cryotek's thug [[Buzzbomb]], and a [[Hubcap (MW)|Hubcap]] who our Hubcap finds rather unsettling. Several characters aren't explicitly named, including Cryotek's [[Roulette|croupier]], Gutcruncher's [[Demolishor (Armada)|many-gunned thug]], and the mob of [[Camaro|Malignus]] [[Pick-Up (Malignus)|Revolutionaries]].

* At one point, a "large synthetic-flesh canine" walks past, which could be a [[Pretender Beast]] or any number of Beast Warriors such as K-9 or Wolfang.

* In addition to those bots who actually appear in the story, Gutcruncher makes reference to [[Bruticus (RID)|Bruticus]], [[Swerve (Cybertron)|Swerve]], and [[Mindset]].

* The illustrations reveal even more offworlders, including [[Delta Seeker]], [[Beastbox]], [[Squawktalk]], [[Signal Lancer]], [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]], [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]], [[Apeface]], [[Manta Ray (G2)|Manta Ray]], [[Tigertrack]], [[Deep Cover]], and [[Crowmax]].

==Transformer references==
* Hubcap's ID card reads "[[Tech Spec|Strength=3]]".

* Jackpot describes himself as an [[Action Master]]; various Transtechs construe this to mean that he is a [[Nucleon]] addict. Several asides in the story explain some of how the Nucleon serves as a self-regenerating fuel source and a means of sudden power bursts.

* Jackpot and Hubcap are surprised to find that [[energon (fuel)|energon]] is not a currency in Axiom Nexus, but appreciate a currency format that isn't likely to explode, as energon is so often shown to do in the [[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]] [[The Transformers (cartoon)|cartoons]] and [[Marvel Comics|comics]].

* Jackpot: "Shall we make like a [[Scraplet]] and bolt?"

* Jackpot regrets the absence of [[Sights]], his [[Targetmaster]] partner.

* Jackpot notes the irony of them being unable to afford a disguise, which would have been in the form of a [[reformatting]].

* Cheetor mentions "three ''very'' strange mechs" who've just arrived -- a reference to [[Breakaway (Classics)|Breakaway]], [[Landquake (Timelines)|Landquake]] and [[Skyfall (Cybertron)|Skyfall]]'s transit at the end of "[[Crossing Over]]".

* While verbally harassing Jackpot about his "Nucleon habit", Stungun first quotes the Action Master tagline of "Stronger, faster, more alive", then parodies a line from the [[Transformers (2007)|2007 live-action film]]: "What else you into? [[Syk]]? Chips? [[Solitarium]]? Hit a little of the Old Fortran at nights?" Jackpot plays along: "[[Sam Witwicky|Are you on plugs]]?"

* Cheetor: "And anyhow, did you [[Furmanism|want to live forever or something]]?" (Jackpot and Hubcap: "''Yes.''")

* Hubcap tells the blue Decepticon hoverskiff (presumably [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]]) that he's been rigged with an [[exponential generator]].

==Real-world references==
* Jackpot, as quoted above, parodies the contestant format of the game show ''Jeopardy''.

* "They can't catch us! We're the ''wind'', baby!" Jackpot enthuses during a high-speed chase, paraphrasing ''Mystery Science Theater 3000''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s Tom Servo.

* "This is another fine mess you let me get us into," says Jackpot, a play on a famous ''Laurel & Hardy'' line.

* "Didn't we just leave this party?!" Jackpot says, quoting [[Han Solo]].

* Boy, this thing borrows pretty heavily from ''[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080120/ The Warriors]'', doesn't it?

== Items of note ==

===Cameos===

==Transformer references==
* Hubcap's ID card reads "[[Tech specs|Strength=3]]".
* Jackpot describes himself as an Action Master; various Transtechs construe this to mean that he is a Nucleon addict. Various asides in the story explain some of how the Nucleon serves as a self-regenerating fuel source and a means of sudden power bursts.
* Jackpot and Hubcap are surprised to find that energon is not a currency in Axiom Nexus, but appreciate a currency format that isn't likely to explode, as energon is so often shown to do in the Generation 1 cartoons and comics.
* Cheetor mentions "three ''very'' strange mechs" who've just arrived -- a reference to Breakaway, Landquake and Skyfall's transit at the end of "[[Crossing Over]]".
* While verbally harassing Jackpot about his "Nucleon habit", Stungun first quotes the Action Master tagline of "Faster stronger more alive", then parodies a line from the 2007 live-action film: "What else you into? [[Syk]]? Chips? Solitarium? Hit a little of the Old Fortran at nights?" Jackpot plays along: "[[Sam Witwicky|Are you on plugs]]?"
* Cheetor: "And anyhow, did you [[Furmanism|want to live forever or something]]?" (Jackpot and Hubcap: "''Yes.''")
* Hubcap tells the blue Decepticon hoverskiff (presumably [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]]) that he's been rigged with an [[exponential generator]].

==Real-world references==

One of the [[thirteen original Transformers]], '''Nexus Maximus''' was created by [[Primus]] shortly after he assumed his planet form for the first time to guard [[Rarified Energon]]. At an unknown point in time, this Transformer was broken into five other robots: [[Skyfall (Cybertron)|Skyfall]], [[Landquake (Timelines)|Landquake]], [[Breakaway (Classics)|Breakaway]], [[Topspin (Classics)|Topspin]], and [[Heatwave]].

==Fiction==
===''Classics''===
The [[Caretaker]] told its components that Nexus Maximus was "designated a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]]", like the other original thirteen, {{storylink|Crossing Over: Part 6}} but apparently Nexus Maximus isn't so needy as to actually put "Prime" in his name.
*'''Nexus Maximus''' (2009)
:Nexus Maximus is composed of his five team members, with Heatwave forming his central body component. His limbs' [[energon weapon]]s form his hands and feet. Similarly to [[The Transformers (toyline)|Generation 1]]'s "[[Scramble City]]" combiner teams, Nexus Maximus (as well as [[Superion Maximus]], [[Bruticus Maximus (Energon)|Bruticus Maximus]] and [[Constructicon Maximus]]) features universal connection points for the limbs, allowing many different combinations and even swapping of limbs from different teams. His combined form's head was [[retool]]ed to give him a unique one, which is an amalgamation of visual elements of its components.

:Nexus Maximus is the combined form of the first five [[Transformers Collectors' Club]] freebie toys: Skyfall, Landquake, Breakaway, Topspin, and Heatwave.

==Notes==
* Fun Publication originally submitted the possible names "Prime Nexus" and "Maximus Prime" to Hasbro for the character (reflecting the fact that the character is a Prime in-fiction), Hasbro rejected these, apparently because they are feeling protective towards the use of the name Prime (despite previously having approved the fiction that already named him a Prime, written by their own [[Forest Lee]]). Hasbro suggested merging the non-Prime segments of the two names instead... ooops.

* Apparently neither [[Hasbro]] nor [[Fun Publications]] did their research when naming Nexus Maximus, because there is another product which shares that name and is, as of [[May 24]], [[2009]], the top Google result. While it is definitely a "toy", it is most assuredly not intended for ages 5 and up. It's also probably not safe for work, so [http://www.vixencreations.com/store/maximus.html click here] at your own risk. According to the Fun Publications Club panel at [[BotCon 2009]], Hasbro did a search for the name with "safe search" on, causing them to not see... well, ''that''.

* The debate is still on whether Nexus Maximus constitutes a choking hazard.

* It's hard to say what toyline Nexus Maximus is from, as his components are from multiple franchises. How often does that happen?
:''Hellbat is a [[Decepticon]] from the [[Victory (franchise)|Victory]] portion of the [[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Hellbat.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Member of the Ambitious Screwups Club.]]
Of all of [[Deathsaurus]]'s warriors, '''Hellbat''' is by far the most underhanded and maniacal. As a member of the elite [[Breastforce]] team, he thinks that he would be much better suited to lead the unit than his commanding officer, [[Leozack]], and he goes to any lengths that he can to prove it to Deathsaurus. Hellbat is a highly accomplished spy, regularly obtaining information that none of his fellow Decepticons are able to, and formulating any number of plans and schemes in his never-ending quest to climb the greasy ladder. He is also a sneak of the highest order, constantly talking behind his teammates' backs and spreading rumors, but he's not sneaky enough to prevent his fellow Decepticons from knowing what he gets up to. It is perhaps not surprising, then, to learn that nobody likes Hellbat, and that they trust him even less than that. In fact, his teammates would all be quite happy to kick him out of the Breastforce, if not for his strangely skilled silver tongue. Hellbat is usually able to talk just about anyone around to his way of thinking just long enough. He would genuinely go to any length to keep his position in the Breastforce ranks, although he'll usually come off as just plain pathetic in the process.

In robot mode, Hellbat has one of the most useful special attacks among all the other Decepticons: with a chant of "Hypnotism, Sleep, Hibernation", he can project mesmerizing waves of sonic energy that weaken his opponents, leaving them open to his influence. His breastplate, [[Kōmoribreast]], can detach and transform into either a bat-like robot mode, or the hand-held "Kōmori Cannon" blaster. Like his fellow Breastforce warriors, Hellbat is also armed with an [[electromagnetic nunchaku]].

So it's a pity, then, that he's kind of a schmuck.

Hellbat can merge with his Breastforce teammates into [[Liokaiser]], forming the left arm of the super robot.

==Fiction==
===''Victory'' cartoon===
:''Voice actor:'' [[Yoku Shioya]] (Japanese)

[[Image:Hellbat_hypnotism.jpg|left|thumb|250px]]

Hellbat summoned by Leozack to join the Breastforce on Earth after they had already waged several battles against [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]]'s [[Autobot]]s. Hellbat's first mission took him to the New Energy Resource Research and Development Laboratory in [[Japan]], where he deployed his Kōmoribreast to download information from the lab's computers. Discovered by one of the scientist, Hellbat knocked out the Autobot and [[human]] troops that attacked him and fled. He soon met back up with the rest of the Breastforce, and was chastised for being unable to keep his actions a secret by Leozack, who then decided to simply steal the entire contents of the lab. In the battle that resulted, Hellbat faced off against [[Blacker]], but the brawny Autobot overcame the Decepticon's hypnotic waves by stabbing himself in his own leg. The Decepticons were ultimately repelled by a brainwave-scrambler invented by [[Braver]], and when Leozack was chewed out by Deathsaurus for the team's failure, Hellbat silently observed the whole affair, deciding that he would be a much better leader than Leozack was. {{storylink|The New Warrior - Hellbat}}

[[Image:Leozack and hellbat.jpg|right|thumb|215px]]

Hellbat immediately set about currying Deathsaurus's favour, gathering information on an energy shipment leaving from a spaceport in Nevada. Leozack was enraged when Hellbat went over his head with the information and took it directly to Deathsaurus, but Hellbat won him around by appealing to his own desire to see Deathsaurus dethroned, explaining that they could take the energy for themselves. To their credit, they were able to abscond with the energy, but when Star Saber appeared to chase them down, Hellbat was shot out of the sky and decided to let Leozack fend for himself while Hellbat made plans to blame the whole debacle on his commander. {{storylink|Attack the Shuttle Base!!}}

After joining in on the Breastforce's attempt to ransom [[Marine City]] with a neutron bomb, {{storylink|Tanker Hijack Operation}} Hellbat put another scheme of his own to work. While the Breastforce kept most of the Autobots busy in a battle over a fleet of oil tankers, Hellbat invaded the under-staffed [[Shuttle Base]] and tried to steal information from its computers. When he tripped an alarm, Hellbat simply snatched a random computer disk and tried to flee, but when his way was barred by [[Galaxy Shuttle]], he kidnapped [[Jean Minakaze]] and [[Holi]] to ensure his safe getaway. The Autobots soon tracked him down to the temporary base he and the [[Dinoforce]] were using and rescued Holi and Jean, but Hellbat passed the buck, blaming Leozack and [[Gōryū]] for the bungled mission. Hellbat still had the computer disk to give to Deathsaurus, but unfortunately for him, it turned out that all he had stolen was Jean's homework. {{storylink|Rescue Jean!!}}

[[Image:Hellbat_tree_trouble.jpg|left|thumb|215px]]

When Autobots [[Mach]] and [[Tackle]] discovered a Breastforce scheme to tap hydroelectric power in Canada, Hellbat didn't fare very well in the ensuing chase, and wound up being lured into the nearby forest and entangled in a cluster of trees. {{storylink|Mach and Tackle}} Soon after, Hellbat participated in the Decepticons' plan to captured spacecraft in the asteroid belt. {{storylink|A Fierce Battle!! The Asteroid}}

[[Image:Hellbat_crossformers.jpg|right|thumb|215px]]

A little later, the Breastforce departed Earth for planet [[Micro]], intending to spring the sixth member of their team, [[Gaihawk]], from the Satellite Penitentiary on the planet's moon, so that they could combined to form the giant robot, Liokaiser. Before that mission got underway, however, the enterprising Hellbat decided to launch a series of raids on several of Micro's major energy-gathering facilities. Hiring the mercenaries [[Black Shadow]] and [[Blue Bacchus]] to aid him, Hellbat soon found he had to triple their cut to keep them on the job when Star Saber turned up to stop them. Rather than risk fighting Star Saber, Hellbat decided to cut his losses and blow up the plasma energy plant they were stealing from, but a parting shot from [[Greatshot]] destroyed what little energy he had already been able to steal, leaving him unable to pay the furious mercenaries. {{storylink|Planet Micro - The Mysterious Warrior}} Upon returning to the ''[[Thunder Arrow]]'' after this mission, Hellbat was met with threats of violence by the rest of the Breastforce, who were not impressed with his sneaking around behind their backs. Hellbat calmed his teammates by claiming that the energy he had tried to steal would have been intended for the whole team's personal use. The argument settled, the team set about their original goal, and attacked the Satellite Penitentiary to free Gaihawk. While the rest of the team held off Star Saber and his Autobots, Hellbat ventured into the prison to locate Gaihawk, only to have the object of his search be the one to find him, right when he was in the middle of ruminating on what effect the addition of Gaihawk to the Breastforce would have on his standing. Over-compensating to cover up his scheming, Hellbat met Gaihawk with hugs and kisses, and helped him recharge his energy from the prison's main supply. A battle between Gaihawk and Greatshot subsequently erupted, which sent the prison up in flames, forcing Hellbat to transform to jet mode and join Leozack in carrying their non-flying comrades to safety. {{storylink|Rescue! Gaihawk}}

[[Image:Hellbat_kills_deathcobra.jpg|left|thumb|215px]]

When Leozack did not invite Hellbat to the meeting to welcome Gaihawk back to the fold, he panicked, listened in on the conversation, and was horrified to discover that they were planning to kick him out of the team and replace him with an old comrade of Leozack's named [[Deathcobra]], who was already on his way to the planet. Hellbat intercepted Deathcobra before he reached the ''Thunder Arrow'', and petitioned him to simply leave, so that he could remain on the team. Deathcobra, however, was disgusted by Hellbat's cowardly request and swatted him out of the way, forcing Hellbat to draw his gun on him. Deathcobra dared Hellbat to pull the trigger, and to Hellbat's own surprise, he actually did, prompting a firefight between the two. Even as Hellbat squealed that it was an accident, he managed to unintentionally land a fatal shot on Deathcobra, killing him outright. Spotting the Autobot Micromaster [[Holi]] watching from a nearby ridge, Hellbat sped back to the ''Thunder Arrow'' and blamed Deathcobra's untimely end on him, then led the rest of the Breastforce in a "retaliatory" attack. In the battle that followed, Hellbat and the Breastforce combined into Liokaiser for the first time and actually defeated Star Saber. {{storylink|Unite! Liokaiser}}

[[Image:Victoryleo_vs_breastforce.jpg|right|thumb|225px]]

Not long after the Breastforce returned to Earth, Hellbat discovered the existence of the [[Schaeffer Energy]] plant in America, and the Breastforce led the charge in raiding it. {{storylink|Battle Up of Wrath!!}} After this, Hellbat let his own schemes and plans take a back seat for a while, and was content to simply participate in a series of missions without any of his typical backstabbing: drilling oil in Antarctica; {{storylink|Fight to the Death!! Antarctic Battle}} ambushing the [[Brainmaster]]s in the desert; {{storylink|Crisis! Ambush in the Desert}} aiding Deathsaurus in laying a trap for Star Saber; {{storylink|A Deadly Battle}} and raiding energy from a solar power plant. {{storylink|Ginrai Dies!!}}

After this temporary bout of restraint, Hellbat started looking out for number one again when he had his Kōmoribreast sneak into the Shuttle Base on an information gathering mission, which led him to learn of the apparent death of God Ginrai. He took this report to Deathsaurus, and also informed his emperor of another discovery he had made: the existence of a large energy stockpile in America. He, Leozack and the Dinoforce proceeded to attack a tractor trailer delivering a load of energy to this stockpile, but were easily defeated by the reborn Ginrai, who had been recreated as [[Victory Leo]]. {{storylink|Fight!! Victory Leo}} When Victory Leo again roared into battle to thwart the Breastforce's attempt to pillage the Mount Asama geothermal energy plant, Hellbat was in no rush to confront the feral Autobot, but he didn't have any compunctions about chasing the helpless Jean Minakaze through the plant's corridors and locking him in the exploding building. {{storylink|Awaken! Victory Leo}}

[[Image:Victory33 hellbatdorya.jpg|left|thumb]]

When Leozack tried posing as Star Saber in order to infiltrate the Shuttle Base and steal information on the Autobot leader's ability to combine with Victory Leo, Hellbat helped complete the illusion by broadcasting a fake message to the Autobots, demanding that "Star Saber" bring the relevant computer disk to him or he would blow their base up with hidden bombs. {{storylink|A Mystery?! The Deception of the Base Bombs}} After the failure of that plan, Hellbat was next dispatched to a jungle planet somewhere in the depths of space to search for the metal-eating [[Dorya]] insects, which he had previously heard about while visiting [[Planet X (Victory)|Planet X]]. His hatred of the wilderness notwithstanding, Hellbat successfully retrieved the insects and brought them back to Earth and helped unleash them against the Autobots, but the scheme turned sour when the heroic robots discovered that intense cold could defeat the little metal-munchers. In the chaos that followed, Hellbat wound up spilling the insects all over himself, and ran off screaming. {{storylink|The Death-Bringing Space Insects!!}}

[[Image:Victory35 falconpunch.jpg|right|thumb]]

Hellbat's final plot was his grandest: he actually succeeded in locating the lost continent of [[Atlantis]] and its massive supply of energy, and took the information straight to Deathsaurus. This proved to be the last straw for Leozack, who gave Hellbat a ferocious beating, until Hellbat revealed what he had told Deathsaurus: raise the continent and use its energy to recharge Deathsaurus's [[Planet-Destroying Fortress]]. {{storylink|The Terror of the Giant Tidal Waves}} The plan succeeded, and with this Atlantean energy in their clutches, the Breastforce and Deathsaurus departed for space, heading right for the fortress. The Autobots pursued the villains, but were unable to stop them from bringing the fortress back online. {{storylink|The Wrath of the Resurrected Giant Fortress!}} To keep the Autobots busy while the fortress's main cannon charged, Deathsaurus dispatched the Breastforce—combined as Liokaiser—to battle them. In the course of the clash, Victory Leo was able to blast Liokaiser into the fortress's cannon barrel, which drained his energy dry. With his consciousness fading and his body unable to move, Liokaiser could only utter a fading scream for help as he drifted off into the depths of space. {{storylink|Showdown! The Fortress vs the Victory Unification}}
{{-}}

===''Victory'' comic===
Hellbat debuted silently, standing behind Gaihawk as he informed Deathsaurus that Leozack had gone off on a solo mission, foolishly believing that he could conquer Earth on his own. {{storylink|Leozack Rumbles Violently!}}

Later, Hellbat and the other Breastforcers combined into Liokaiser to battle Star Saber on [[Energy Planet X]]. When the combiner warrior managed to seize Star Saber, his individual components began arguing over who would get right to destroy the Autobot leader; Hellbat believed he was the one who should be allowed to "switch them off". Star Saber exploited the opening to turn the battle around, and Liokaiser was defeated and escaped. {{storylink|The Star of Friendship, Jean and Star Saber!}} In their next battle with Star Saber, the Breastforce almost had him defeated thanks to the aid of Deathsaurus and Dinoking, but the tables were turned when Star Saber merged with new arrival Victory Leo, to form Victory Saber. {{storylink|The Strongest Partners, the Combination of Victory!}}

In their next battle, Liokaiser and Deathsaurus were defeated by the Autobots' "Five Stars of Victory" attack technique, and Liokaiser split back into Gaihawk and the rest of the Breastforce to flee back to Deathsaurus's "Space Stronghold". {{storylink|Shine! The Five Stars of Victory}} From the stronghold, the Decepticons began a final attack on Earth, bombarding the planet with meteors, but the Autobots succeeded in thwarting their scheme, despite a bit of attempted treachery courtesy of Leozack. At the battle's end, Deathsaurus revealed that the fortress was home to the Decepticons' families and children, and that they had been fighting to keep them safe. Struck by this revelation, Star Saber decided that it was time for the Autobots and Decepticons to lay down their arms, and live in peace—the truest victory of all! {{storylink|Heroic! The Victory War}}

===Timelines: Wings of Honor===
Hellbat was part of [[Banzai-Tron (G1)|Banzai-Tron]]'s squad of Decepticons sent to [[Beta-Nine]] to retrieve some valuable cargo from the crashed ''[[Van De Graaff]]''. Hellbat, Banzai and [[Gaihawk]] had the young [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] cornered, but Hellbat's hypnotism ability drew the impressionable young bot out. Lucky for the Autobot, a hungry aquatic monster decided to try and make a snack out of Hellbat, breaking the spell and distracting the other two Decepticons long enough for Kup to run for it. {{storylink|Wings of Honor}}

Of course, millions of years later, Kup's recollection of these events were a little... different.

I'm not really up to rewriting the entire bio section over the Ricochet deal. I'd sooner assume Rico's partner is a new guy, but that's me. Any rate ,Artfire's partner is also a Ricochet... --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 04:03, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Without any reason to assume otherwise I go with Occam's razor:I just figure: it's the same toy, with the same deco, with the same name = the same guy. Not like folks havn't defected before. [[User:ZacWilliam|ZacWilliam]] 04:20, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
==Toy/Trivia==
There's a lot of information there that really doesn't belong under "Toys". The whole Japanese Nightstick/Nebulon thing hasn't got any bearing on US Nightstick's toy. We note the mold was used for Nebulon, then move on. The models and are that are related to the character, but should go under Trivia. --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 20:46, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
:Shrug. I see the "Trivia" section as a necessary evil for stuff that simply won't fit ''anywhere'' else, so I try to find relevance any other place I can. Mileages vary, and all that. Certainly I'm less invested in the toy side of things than you, so I'll defer to your judgement. - [[User:Jackpot|Jackpot]] 22:49, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
==Move==
I just want to say ins the '''strongest possible''' terms how fundamentally I disagree with the decision to move "Nightstick (Decepticon)" to "Nightstick (G1)."

This consistency is not victory. It is failure. -[[User:Derik|Derik]] 17:00, 1 June 2009 (EDT)

:It would work better if they'd just release and rename Artfire/Nightstick for the Western market so we can have a Nightstick (G1) vs Nightstick (Headmasters) (provided they aren't the same guy... or should be with the name switch). But, in arguments, what's your objection to this move? [[User:Geewunling|Geewunling]] 17:06, 1 June 2009 (EDT)

::For me, it's that there are TWO Nightsticks in the un-sub-franchised G1, the Decepticon who comes with Cyclonus and the Autobot who comes with Ricochet. Add in that "Headmasters" is ALSO PART OF G1 and there is ANOTHER Nightstick in that... and this is a stupid move. Return the page to (Decepticon). --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]]
