Knock Out and Starscream's experiment with synthetic energon threatens to take over the Decepticon ship and unleash an old enemy.

Synopsis
In Knock Out's lab, Starscream bemoans his current situation, having to compete with Shockwave for Megatron's favor. His whining is interrupted by moans from Cylas, who is strapped to a table and begging to be freed. Knock Out injects him with a derivative of the synthetic energon he recovered from the Autobots. The compound drives Cylas into a rage, which Knock Out notes is one of its erratic side effects. Starscream sees in Cylas' fury the makings of a super-soldier for Megatron.

Starscream attempts to inform Megatron of this discovery, but the Decepticon leader is only interested in discussing the status of the Predacon protoforms with Shockwave, who is reporting in from his off-site lab.

Cylas becomes more enraged with each new injection of Synth En. Knock Out discovers that the more the compound is administered, the faster Cylas burns through his own natural energon reserves. Starscream cannot see the use of having another unruly beast that can't be controlled, but then has an idea: Dark Energon. Knock Out objects, noting that the Dark Matter once turned their own ship against them. Starscream assures the doctor that controlled exposure will merely place Cylas under Megatron's command, via their leader's symbiotic link with the substance.

Under orders, Knock Out injects Cylas with Dark Energon. Cylas temporarily powers down before rebooting in a rage and breaking free from his bonds. But after only a few steps, he crumbles to his knees, desperately low on energon. Then with a fierce roar, his lower jaw splits into monstrous mandibles and a long, bladed tongue emerges. He attacks, sending Starscream and Knock Out fleeing down the halls of the ship.

Once a safe distance away, Knock Out suggests sounding the alarm. Starscream disagrees, not wanting Megatron to learn of their actions. He claims that once Cylas attempts to feed upon the ship's highly-trained Vehicon troopers, they will take care of the threat.

Elsewhere, one of the Vehicons stumbles upon Cylas, who grabs the highly-trained trooper and begins draining his energon.

Starscream and Knock Out plan the disposal of Cylas' corpse when they find the Vehicon's corpse instead. While the two argue about who's to blame for their predicament, the dead Vehicon rises as a reanimated Terrorcon and reveals the same segmented jaw and bladed tongue that Cylas had. Starscream's blaster fire has no effect, nor does destroying the Terrorcon's head, as the tongue continues to protrude from inside its chest. A final volley of blasts destroys the monster's revitalized spark, severing its link to the Dark Energon.

Knock Out posits that Cylas could infect the entire crew in the same manner, a theory that's borne out when they find themselves surrounded on all sides by energy-draining Terrorcons. Starscream and Knock Out lock themselves in a room to get a breather and assess the situation. Accepting that this may be the end, the two Decepticons exchange final pleasantries and step back into the hall…

…right into Megatron, who demands to know why the Dark Energon in his spark has been acting funny. Starscream provides a slanted explanation, but Megatron doesn't believe it until he's forced to destroy an attacking Terrorcon.

After a more extensive debrief of the situation, Megatron puts the ship on high alert and orders Starscream and Knock Out to destroy Cylas. Around the ship, Vehicons and Insecticons battle the infected Terrorcons.

Cylas wanders into the ship's vault. Sensing energon within a stasis pod, he breaks it open, freeing and reviving Airachnid. Cylas attempts to drain her energon, but Airachnid is able to immobilize him with webbing long enough to deliver a killing blow. She immediately re-establishes her telepathic control over the Insecticons and commands them to return to her. Their sudden departure is noticed by Soundwave.

Starscream and Knock Out discover Cylas' corpse. Starscream is elated until Knock Out points out Airachnid's destroyed prison, followed by Megatron demanding a status update.

Airachnid leads the Insecticons through the halls of the ship, ordering them to wipe out every Decepticon aboard. At the end of the hall, Soundwave calmly steps forward to face them. The bug-bots attack, and Soundwave opens a space bridge directly in front of him at the last second. Before they can react, Airachnid and the Insecticons are teleported to another location. As the bridge closes behind her, Airachnid realizes that they have been sent to a moon orbiting Cybertron and screams in rage.

Aboard the Nemesis, Megatron contacts Shockwave again to inform him they're implementing his containment protocol to prevent further outbreak. He also tells Shockwave to speed up the Predacon cloning project, as they have now lost more than half their military forces.

Back on the moon, an infected Airachnid drains the energon from one of her minions as the rest of the Insecticons line up obediently to await their turn.
Notes
Animation and technical errors
* Airachnid lost one of her spider legs to the closing pod door when she was put in stasis, but all six are intact in this episode.
* That was one very clean beheading via exploding missile on the first Vehicon victim there. No wires or burnt metal or anything left in the collar area. Head and neck just completely gone, nice and clean.
* Speaking of, the decapitation reveals not so much an error, as a slight modeling shortcut for the Vehicon that we would never see under normal circumstances. There's not really much of a hole in the Vehicon's collar for a proper physical neck to fit into, just a thin vertical gap at the base of the "bowl". You normally don't see it because the neck just goes straight into the base of the collar, as if the collar form-fits around the neck.

Continuity notes
* Yowza, this would be a tough episode to start watching the series.
* Airachnid was frozen in stasis in "Armada" and was retrieved from the Autobot base by the Decepticons in "Darkmount, NV".
* The polarity gauntlet can be seen in the vault, in the first of the five containment fields. It was left on Cybertron by Bumblebee in "Darkest Hour", and can be assumed to have been recovered by Knock Out's salvage team offscreen in "Darkmount, NV". That leaves the Immobilizer the only relic assumed to have been destroyed.
* Silas, the formerly 100% human commander of MECH, was surgically combined with Breakdown's corpse in "The Human Factor". He changed his name to Cylas (Cybernetic Life Augmented by Symbiosis) and became a reluctant guest of the Decepticons in the same episode.
* Cylas (then Silas) entered into a partnership of convenience with Starscream in "Operation Bumblebee, Part 1" and conveniently stole his T-cog in "Operation Bumblebee, Part 2".
* Cylas (then Silas) once had Breakdown pinned to his operating table in "Operation: Breakdown".
* Knock Out recovered some of Ratchet's synthetic energon in "Stronger, Faster".
* Shockwave has been working from an off-site laboratory since "Chain of Command".
* Megatron previously used Dark Energon to reanimate and control the dead in "Darkness Rising, Part 3".
* Dark Energon awakened a dangerous, self-serving intelligence within the Decepticon warship in "Flying Mind".
* Airachnid killed Breakdown and discovered her telepathic control of the Insecticons in "Crossfire".
* Airachnid knows Cylas (then Silas) from their brief partnership in "Crisscross".
* Airachnid's desire to have Soundwave scream likely stems from the very one-sided beatdown she received from him in "One Shall Rise, Part 3".
* Starscream refers to the Decepticon soldiers as "Vehicons" confirming it as their real designation. Wheeljack previously used that term in to describe them in "Plus One"
* Megatron refers to the beatings he bestowed on Starscream in Darkness Rising, Part 4, and in between the episodes Out of His Head and Shadowzone when he's about to punish Starscream for his involvement in the outbreak.

Transformers references
* Protoforms are the first stage of Transformer life in many continuities.
* Megatron again refers to his upcoming Predacon army as Beast Machine super-soldiers.
* The noise played when the Warcry ability in Transformers War for Cybertron is activated seems to be a part of the sound effect used when the "tentacles" come out of the infected Transformers.

Real-world references
* Knock Out's proclamation of "It's alive" echoes the famous words spoken in Frankenstein.
* In addition to the segmented jaw and barbed tongue, the Terrorcons' teeth also transform into vampiric fangs.
* As Knock Out indicated, destroying the head is the traditional way to kill zombies in many horror movies. But only human ones.
* This episode heavily pays homage to the 1985 zombie film The Return of the Living Dead where two humans (Frank and Freddie) cause a gas to spread across a cemetary that revives dead corpses into zombies and there plays comedy with the two trying to control the situation while blaming each other for the zombie apocalypse, much like Starscream and Knockout in this episode.

Trivia
* This is the first episode which doesn't feature the Autobots in any capacity. Previously, "Patch", the last Decepticon-centric episode, had flashbacks which contained Autobots even though none appeared in person.
* However, Peter Cullen is still part of the cast, as the zombified Vehicon trooper Megatron puts down.
* Starscream says that the ship is crawling with "highly-trained Vehicon troopers". Kinda makes you wonder what a poorly-trained one is like, huh?
* On-the-move teleportation seems as if it's becoming Soundwave's signature move, having used it to dispatch Arcee in "Orion Pax, Part 1" and to claim the Predacon fossil in "Project Predacon".
* Steve Blum is credited as "Insecticon #1" instead of Bombshock this time.
* The last thing Silas/Cylas did to Starscream was steal his T-Cog and painfully electrocute him unconscious, so it's no surprise Starscream denied his pleas to help him at the beginning of the episode.
* The conversation between Knockout and Starscream while hiding in a control room is taken mostly from the same conversation between Optimus and Arcee in "Scrapheap" when they were stuck in the arctic and resigned to their fate.
Is there a way to modify this so that the characters on each side are arranged in two or more columns? Or could we get separate Autobot and Decepticon tables with columns for each level of rarity? I dunno. I've not played this, but it kinda seems like we're looking at more redesigns/amalgams... are we looking at a Bot Shots/Kre-O situation here? Would splitting them into (Legends) be a thing to do? --M Sipher 03:12, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
: The game seems VERY intended to be G1 to me. To the point where it would feel a bit weird to pretend it wasn't. Then again it blends in a lot of Modern toyline stuff. Arcee is really the only merger I've seen most of it is pretty straight G1. A few of the Bios are from FoC toys but the vast bulk are just the G1 bios, pretty exactly which would make for a ton of really unnecessary pages . Art is G1 pretty much across the board with some of CHUGUR toy influence. The intention is very clearly to be Modern G1 in the same way the IDW comics are IMO. But the execution makes me want to say it could also be a very G1y branch of Alligned. Folks who have played the game a ton what do you think?--ZacWilliam 05:59, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
:: I've not played it a ton, but it does seem like it's intended to be as G1 as it can possibly make itself. Unnecessary is the word, I think. - Chris McFeely 06:54, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
:::I haven't played it either, but I've seen pretty much all of the character art posted on Tumblr, and it sure looks pretty blatantly G1 to me. Some characters have new bodies, there's a Slipstream, Elta is a motorcycle and Arcee borrows from Prime, but still. --KilMichaelMcC 07:20, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
::::I think it is clearly intended to be G1; I think a case could be made to split it off as its own universe, but due to the nature of the product all that would get us would be dozens of virtually empty character pages, which unlike Bot Shots wouldn't even have their own dedicated merchandise to keep track of. (Sort of like all those Chinese MMO characters we still don't know anything about, although at least those characters are unique...) Anyway, keep it like it is, IMO. -LV 11:00, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
:: As stated above, the bios are a blend of FoC and G1 with a dash of Movie/Prime thrown in for good measure; even the Super Rare versions of characters keep the same bio while having updated G1/Aligned art. The only exception is Slipstream, whose bio is explicitly Animated Slipstream's, clone and all (and artwork similar to her WfC appearance). Magaroja 12:20, 3 May 2013 (EDT)
:Why WAS Bot Shots split, again? Kre-O I get - what fiction there is has the characters actually made of blocks and so forth in a way that clearly isn't true for any other universe - but what's the reasoning for not just making BS part of Aligned (whose aesthetic already varies wildly between WfC/FoC and Prime) that doesn't also apply to, say, breaking IDW out of G1? - SanityOrMadness 11:55, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
::According to the Bot Shots page, there is "unique fiction related to the game". I'm assuming this means something similar to the Kre-O characters actually being made of bricks - like the game mechanics actually exist within the fictional world. --Khajidha 12:37, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
::Principally, that if Bot Shots were going to be incorporated into another universe, it's not obvious which one it would be. Prime and WF/FOC designs are probably the least-represented of all the influences the Bot Shots toys have. Also, the Bot Shots have bios, and many of them don't match up especially well with their Aligned portrayals. -LV 13:36, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
:::That doesn't usually stop these things being mashed together. And as for on-package bios, they're wildly inconsistent even in the "mainline" toys - see Generations Orion Pax for a good example, which has an Aligned bio with him as an archivist (with pitiful stats!) in spite not only of the design being based on the IDW "super-cop" Pax, but of having an IDW comic packed-in that doesn't match up with the bio at all!
:::(And again, there are plenty of IDW guys who bear little to no resemblance to their top-of-article summaries, yet they don't get split out. Bot Shots should go in Aligned, since Hasbro's stated desire is for all their stuff to be Aligned-based unless explicitly shown to be otherwise.) - SanityOrMadness 21:43, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
::::I'm not interested in having this conversation as a proxy war over whether IDW should be split out of G1. -LV 22:34, 2 May 2013 (EDT)
:::::Yeah, no. We're neither merging Bot Shots characters or splitting IDW out of G1. --M Sipher 19:53, 3 May 2013 (EDT)
::Back to the point at hand - the current in-game event overlays the primary plot of Beast Hunters into the game's quasi-G1 setting. Shockwave accidentally invents the Terrorcons whilst mucking about with "ancient CNA", but in this version, he tasks the Predacons to hunt down and capture the Terrorcons. Different enough from the mainline of Prime, and let's face it, none of it explicitly contradicts anything we know about any other G1 timeline. The G1 Terrorcons have never had an origin story per se, so I'm actually kind of completely okay with letting this G1 and appending their pages accordingly. (really, the only things that don't sync exactly are the lack of Cutthroat and everyone else having their Prime names, but that's basically a "Slingshot/Quickslinger" issue IMO.) -hx 14:37, 16 May 2013 (EDT)

Weapons
Parly related to the "New Universe" discussion below (though I agree, G1 seems to be the right home for this), I think it would make sense to say something about the Weapons in-game. I don't know if it warrants the same treatment as the WFC/FOC weapons of giving each one its own page, since there are a LOT of repetitve names (Autobot Dagger 1, Decepticon Dagger 1, Autobot Dagger 2, Arcee's Weapon, Arcee's Weapon 2), with nothing much to say other than to show the visual (which would start to push the bounds of fair-use) and the stats, which are boring.

BUT, there are some interesting continuity mash-up things going on that might bear mentioning, a few quick highlights include:

Ratchet's Weapon is his Prime-Toy's blade
Magnus's Weapon is his Animated Hammer
Prowl has a crazy mash-up Nightstick/Katana/Gun seemingly trying to double homage his G1-Cop and Animated-Ninja'ness
Wheeljack is rocking his Prime swords
Flamewar as her Energon-as-Botcon-Toy Bow

Most of the weapons are normal G1 designs, but the weapons definitely indicate an Aligned-bleed even more so than any of the charcater designs (Most of which seem to be driven by a "Earth Mode Required" {Unless your an animal...or Cyclonus} art-approach.).

Depending on what you guys WANT the weapons section to look like (even if you want to create pages for them ala WFC), I'm happy to put some hours into this, I'm quite in love with the game (the art especially). --Destrongerlupus 14:22, 16 May 2013 (EDT)

:I was thinking about this myself - I don't know that "Autobot dagger" or "Decepticon rifle" needs a specific entry, above and beyond what we already have (we have a page for maces, maybe one for swords?). I'd certainly be amenable to appending relevant existing pages with game info, though. (And anyone who wants to make an article for Rifles is a braver sort than I.) ::I thiiiiink I'd prefer to see the So-And-So's Weapon cards included with the Legends section of the character's own wiki page, simply because there's so little to them. I mean, they don't even have names. As for the rest of the weapons, I don't know that I'd consider them worth mentioning outside of the Legends page in general.
::I DO think we need much better coverage of Legends in general, even if it's mostly stubby stuff that links away to the very thorough Wikia wiki. -LV 19:59, 16 May 2013 (EDT)
::I agree, although I basically haven't had the time to do much. I'll try and maybe flesh it out a bit. And yeah, include their special weapons on the character pages. It's just another card to collect in the game, so whatever, you know? -hx 09:32, 17 May 2013 (EDT)
:::Cool, I'll see about adding them to character specific pages where notable, and using them to add a little flavor to the general "Mace" pages and whatnot. Thanks for the support and direction!--Destrongerlupus 14:32, 17 May 2013 (EDT)
The toy was still sealed, so it wasn't the seller being tricksy (especially since I ordered it via Amazon, if I remember correctly), so I have to wonder if this is a variant of some sort, or if only a handful of them were released with this production error?
Plot
Chapter One
It is three years since the Decepticons were last seen and, humanity believes they have fled Earth. However, Optimus Prime knows better and is constantly searching for Megatron and his forces. Bumblebee is sent to South America to find and investigate a Soviet relay facility being used by the Decepticons to monitor NEST-Autobot communications. He succeeds, and plants a virus prepared by Wheeljack into the transmitter that will allow them to monitor the Decepticons. However, he is discovered by a Decepticon party who flee in an attempt to alert their leader Megatron. Bumblebee tracks the Decepticons down to a small village where he destroys all the long-range transmitters trying to contact Megatron. Waves of Decepticons land in the city hoping to destroy him, but Optimus and Sideswipe, who have been searching other villages, show up and help Bumblebee fight off the attackers.

Chapter Two
The virus allows the Autobots to track down and eliminate Decepticons across the globe. When the Decepticons attack the city of Detroit, Ratchet is ordered to help civilians evacuate while Ironhide goes off to wipe out the attackers in the city. Ironhide makes his way into the city's main construction zone where he receives word that Ratchet has been captured by Mixmaster. Ironhide battles his way to find Mixmaster who has knocked out and injured Ratchet. Ironhide's normal weapons are not strong enough to pierce Mixmaster's shields, so he uses his "Heavy Iron" rifle to cause a large metal platform to land on Mixmaster trapping him underground. Realizing that Mixmaster would probably try to escape them, Ratchet reveals he placed a tracker on the Decepticon when he was captured. Ironhide continues his search for Mixmaster and receives the "Heavy Iron 2.0" from Wheeljack--a new rifle that can destroy Mixmaster's shields. Mixmaster is powerless against Ironhide's new weapon, defeated, and is killed by a fatal headshot from Ironhide.

Chapter Three
Sideswipe is captured by Decepticon forces whilst investigating suspicious activity in Central America and Mirage is sent to find him. Along the way to a rendezvous with Bumblebee, Starscream tries to destroy Mirage with proximity mines, then grabs the Autobot and throws him through a bridge into a deep ravine down below, believing he has killed the Autobot. Mirage's internal systems have been extensively damaged disabling his weapons and transformation system. He is only able to use his Active Camoflauge to sneak past patrols of Decepticons. He discovers the entrance to an ancient Mayan temple which has Decepticon markings all over it, suggesting the Mayans built their temples on top of Decepticon technology. The NEST team sends weapons and repairs for Mirage deep within the jungle where he eventually meets up with Bumblebee. The two Autobots make their way through the ruins and battle a Decepticon Enforcer on top of a temple. After dispatching the enemy, the two discover and free Sideswipe, who informs them that the temples are built over an ancient Cybertronian spaceport. The three Autobots hold off enemy forces until NEST reinforcements are able to arrive to help ward off the attack. The Autobots then make their way deeper into the ruins where Starscream is trying to launch a Decepticon ship into space. They battle Starscream, but are unable to prevent the launch and the Decepticon second-in-command retreats.

Chapter Four
As the Autobots attempt to track the launched ship's heading, Megatron realises Decepticon communications have been compromised and has Soundwave detached from his satellite. He then sends the communications officer to destroy an abandoned Sector Seven data archive on a Pacific island, which stores information which could jeopardize Decepticon plans. Soundwave lands on the island and takes on an alternate form of a SUV. He soon discovers that NEST has repurposed the old base, which is located inside an active volcano, as a research facility. Soundwave fights his way through the jungle and into the volcano. He arrives at the entrance of the NEST base and is unable to enter, so sends Laserbeak to sneak inside. Laserbeak goes throughout the base scanning hard drives, and Soundwave learns the facility is being used by Wheeljack to develop MechTech weaponry. He also realises that the base can be destroyed by disabling its volcanic stabilizers. Laserbeak alters the harmonics of the three stabilizers, making them vulnerable to his master's ultrasonics, and then activates the main doors so Soundwave can enter. Despite briefly becoming trapped in a laser grid prison, the communications officer destroys all three stabilizers, and the coolant system, triggering an eruption of the volcano. Soundwave escapes the collapsing tunnels in vehicle mode, then regroups with Laserbeak on the island surface.

Chapter Five
The Decepticons learn that Autobots are about to transport some of the MechTech weapons that were not destroyed on the island base to human armies in the Middle East, and Starscream is dispatched by Megatron to destroy it. He heads to a mountain NEST base in Nepal, but is ambushed and crash lands. Starscream then chases Air Raid through a canyon only to discover the Aerialbots are already escaping onboard Stratosphere with the MechTech weapons. The Decepticon is able to pursue and injure Stratosphere, forcing the Aerialbots to deploy and try to destroy Starscream. However, he proves to be too strong for them and, despite Stratosphere activating his Stealth Force mode, continues to shoot out the large Autobot's engines. Starscream boards Stratosphere, steals one MechTech 'boomstick', and detonates the other to finally send the Autobot crashing down.

Chapter Six
Soundwave begins preparations to cryo-thaw Shockwave, who is frozen in the Siberian Soviet facility the Decepticons have taken as a base. Starscream then returns to Megatron, hoping to please his master with news that they can use the Autobots' technology against them. Megatron, however, is furious as he knows the Autobots will have placed tracking devices in all their weapons. As he drains Starscream's energon as punishment, the Autobots arrive, their attack spearheaded by Ironhide. After Soundwave brings Megatron's weaponry online, he fights off the initial attack, before being blasted into the bowels of the base by Ironhide. The Decepticon leader retrives plutonium from an old human stockpile, which he uses to create energon to awaken the hatchlings throughout the base, but structural collapse forces him to use ventilation tunnels to progress. Meanwhile, Starscream gets to the surface and begins bombing the Autobots, but this causes further damage to the base. After acquiring more plutonium, Megatron decides to begin Shockwave's cryo-thaw, but Soundwave has lost his connection, so the process must be done manually. The leader rallies his Decepticon forces to hold off the Autobot attack while he makes his way through the tunnels to Shockwave's cryochamber, scanning a truck to get there faster. As he nears the cryochamber, he encounters Warpath who, despite his boasts, Megatron easily finishes off. The Decepticon leader destroys the intense cryo systems that have kept Shockwave frozen for so many years and waits for his assassin to awake. However, Optimus Prime arrives, using weapons and an impenetrable energon shield from his trailer to battle Megatron. Soundwave informs Megatron that the freezing spray from the cryo generators can weaken the shields, and the Decepticon leader destroys the generators in the room until the shields on Prime can be destroyed. Although Optimus activates a jetpack and heavy weaponry, he is still defeated, and Megatron kicks him down into the cryochamber. The Decepticon then flees the base, sneaking past Ironhide and Ratchet using his new vehicle mode.

Chapter Seven
Optimus awakens at the bottom of the cryochamber, and realises that Megatron's plan was to awaken Shockwave from his imprisonment by the Soviets. Ratchet is able to activate backup cryo systems, but Shockwave's Driller has already begun thawing, and destroys the backups. Shockwave soons awakens, and engages Prime in combat. Ratchet identifies the assassin's back-mounted power core as a weak spot, and thanks to Shockwave's sluggishness, Prime is able to exploit this vulnerability. As Optimus begins to gain the edge, the Decepticon fully frees the Driller, which attacks ferociously. Prime utilises his shoulder launcher to injure the creature until it retreats, leaving Shockwave to fight alone. As the room thaws out, Autobot reinforcements begin to arrive, but each wave is swiftly dealt with by the Decepticon. Optimus continues to attack Shockwave's power core, and activates his jetpack to deal the final blow. However, the Driller re-appears at the last moment, and whisks its master away to safety. Optimus reports his victory to Ratchet, but laments that Megatron is still at large, and must be found.

Epilogue
In Namibia, Starscream joins Megatron and Soundwave just in time to hear Shockwave greeted back into the Decepticons. The Decepticon leader immediately sets his assassin a mission, travel Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and retrieve an object. Megatron then proceeds to gloat that Optimus Prime has no idea of his plans, and that the Earth and its resources will soon belong to him.
Initially, players are only able to create one of each class, but as they level up, more slots open for a maximum of three of each class. Names can be chosen for each, but don't get too excited about making the Transformer you always dreamed of: bodies are limited to about three options per faction and look exactly like characters from single-player (for example, the Autobot Scout category lets you choose from Bumblebee, Sideswipe, or Mirage). And while you can pick your color scheme, the palettes are rather limited, especially for Decepticons. Unlocking additional characters will also make their chassis available for customizing.

;Playlists
Choosing a playlist will automatically send you into a lobby, where the service will do its best to form balanced teams (I.E., you hopefully won't see a team of level 20 Commanders fighting one level zero Scout). The service will also select a random stage, which players can veto. Finally, when the game begins, combatants select their character. If your Scout gets butchered too many times, you can pick a different character at any time during the match, and you will switch to it upon dying. Players also cannot pick a faction; the game does it automatically. Various powerups (overshield, double damage, and intercooler) are scattered around the stages. Unlike War for Cybertron, you can not pick up fallen player's weapons.

Playlists include:

Players can also set up private matches, where the game options and maps can be adjusted as you see fit, but they are invite-only. Hopefully, you've got a lot of online friends!

Notes
* The end of the single player campaign doesn't mesh especially well with the film: in the game Shockwave is instructed to retrieve what appears to be a space bridge pillar from Chernobyl; in the film, the object at the facility is an engine component from the Ark, and Megatron actually intends for it to fall into the Autobots' hands. Potentially, Shockwave was deliberately being kept in the dark about Megatron's plans, but this seems counter-intuitive given how effective the Decepticon and his Driller are.
* Megatron's tossing Optimus into Shockwave's chamber doesn't come off as particularly bright either: everyone realizes in the film that Megatron needed Optimus to use the Matrix to revive Sentinel Prime, which would set the space bridge plan in motion, yet Megatron casually tosses Optimus to his deadliest and most vicious assassin and his Driller, both of whom would have no qualm with killing another Autobot. Unless Megatron expected Optimus to beat Shockwave anyway...
* During the battle against Stratosphere, an Autobot flier claims that he has a fear of heights.
* This game has a ton of the Revenge of the Fallen game references including the return of Breakaway and some familiar soldiers. Also, when Starscream is pursuing Air Raid, you can hear one of the Revenge of the Fallen soundtracks in the background.
* Although the Autobot footsoldiers are still depicted as in previous games, the Decepticon troopers are now depicted as bumbling, moronic comic-reliefs (Especially during the Mirage level when two of them are arguing about the strange markings). When they get shot, they give random statements like "OVERLOOOOAAAAAD!!!!", "AAGGHHH!!! Total Overload!!!" and "Well, I guess we're not bulletproof!!!"
* Bumblebee seems to be able to "speak", much in the way his Prime counterpart does, somehow (as seen whenever Mirage responds to his beeps).
Transformers: Dark of the Moon: The Game was released on June 14 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms. The game is a prequel to the film Dark of the Moon. Unlike Transformers The Game and Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon features a single campaign mode, rather than separate Autobot and Decepticon campaigns. The game features a multiplayer mode with gameplay very similar to War for Cybertron. The game was developed by High Moon Studios, fresh off the success of that game.

Plot
