The Rescue Bots and the Burns family get on a ghost ship that emerges once every ten years.

Synopsis
A fog-shrouded night on Griffin Rock and most of the town's population is out on either the pier or the ferry, looking out to sea. With nothing much happening, the rescue team heads back to base, where Heatwave demands to know what's got the townsfolk so interested in a ship, but the others decide to leave it to Dani to explain, as she's the expert. While Dani goes to fetch her camera, Blades laments her strange compulsion to go ship hunting. Out on the sea, Doc Greene and Frankie are scanning from the floating lab when the S.S. Phantom Voyager appears. Back at the fire station, Dani explains the background of the Phantom Voyager — struck by lightning in 1915, this ocean liner vanished with only its captain aboard, and is said to reappear once every ten years. As the team rushes out to find the Phantom, Doc Greene spots someone at a porthole. The rescue team approaches on the Darby Ava, Dani in the middle of explaining that the ship's captain was to have wed Lillian, a Griffin Rock resident. As the distress call is still going, Dani and Cody fly over the ship in Blades, only for Blades to be snagged by a rope and the other three Bots board the ship with Kade and Graham to help. While they're getting Blades free, the energy around the ship spikes and it disappears.

Finding that the ship is hanging in a void, the team reasons that there must be a way to get the ship to return back to reality, and split up to search. The Rescue Bots head down in the freight elevator and search the lower decks while the humans look around the upper decks. Dani is pleased to find the dining hall, Kade moreso, as there's still food there, though as he eats it, the others point out the food's a hundred years old. Hearing a thud, they move on. The Rescue Bots are searching the cargo hold when Blades spots the elusive Captain Ambrose, but when they give chase, they end up locked in the prow of the ship. The others reach the ballroom, where Ambrose reveals himself and demands to know why they've invaded his ship and where they got giant metal men. The rescue team explains about the fact that it's the future, shortly before another energy flare signals the ship's returned to reality.

The Rescue Bots manage to break out of their prison and join the other on the deck, where they spot Griffin Rock, but swiftly realize that if the ship is back in reality, then it must be ten years later. The Phantom abruptly collides with the Griffin Rock ferry, and a hi-tech helicopter piloted by Frankie and carrying Chief Burns and Doc Greene hovers into view. Accompanied by Ambrose, the rescue team swings into action to save the ferry passengers and stabilize the ferry itself. The rescue over, the team reunites with the Chief and Greenes, all three of them now ten years older. Doc Greene explains that from the readings he took during its previous appearance, the ship is emitting the same energies exhibited by the time machine they found under the lab, and Boulder recalls seeing something suspicious in the hold. Chief Burns agrees to let the team try to reverse the time machine rather than go home with him. As the helicopter lifts off, the ship disappears once again.

With the ship back in the void, the team finds the time machine in the hold, and Ambrose identifies it as the cargo of one Doctor Thaddeus Morocco. They soon realize that the lightning that struck the ship resulted in the time machine getting stuck in fast forward. They use some of Blades's spare energon to stabilize the machine and the ship reappears back in present day. Graham gives Ambrose instructions on operating the time machine, and the team disembarks before the Phantom Voyager disappears once again. Back at the fire station, Dani sounds the alarm so she can reveal that Ambrose made it back to 1915 and married Lillian. Kade tries to explain away an embarrassing squeal of excitement as him practicing for the next burping tournament, and Dani promptly shows him how it's done with a building-shaking burp.
* The time machine Doc Greene refers to was seen in "It's a Bot Time" and "Bot to the Future". As with this one, it was successfully powered with energon.

Transformers references
* (tbd)

Real-world references
* The story of the S.S. Phantom Voyager is a reference to the 1997 movie Titanic, including a tragic love story, a grand double staircase, and a flute melody in the episode's incidental music that My Heart Will Go On.
* A ship appearing as a ghostly apparition off the coast of a New England island strikes a similar parallel to an old prolific New England legend of the Palatine Light off the coast of Block Island in Rhode Island
* The whole "shipping" speech is obviously an affectionate nod to the brand's female fanbase, who have (mostly by themselves) created an impressive number of ships since Transformers was born. The famous fangirl "Eeeeeeeeee!" is even referenced.

Animation and technical errors
* (tbd)

Trivia
* Dani is a fangirl! Who knew?
* This episode apparently takes place in 2015, meaning that Season One took place in approximately 2013...thus setting the other Transformers series in the Aligned continuity family ahead by two or three years.
*Dani's impressive belch at the end was totally done by Maurice LaMarche.
Phantom Voyager is a reference to the 1997 movie Titanic, including a tragic love story, a grand double staircase, and a flute melody in the episode's incidental music that My Heart Will Go On.
* A ship appearing as a ghostly apparition off the coast of a New England island strikes a similar parallel to an old prolific New England legend of the Palatine Apparition off the coast of Block Island in Rhode Island
* The whole "shipping" speech is obviously an affectionate nod to the brand's female fanbase, who have (mostly by themselves) created an impressive number of ships since Transformers was born. The famous fangirl "Eeeeeeeeee!" is even referenced.

Animation and technical errors
* (tbd)

Ghosts haunt and terrorize the residents of Griffin Rock.

Synopsis
Jerry is driving an armored truck through rough weather when he suddenly spots a spectral figure standing in the road. He swerves, crashing through a barrier and plunging from a cliff. The Burns family and their Rescue Bots are soon out searching and find Jerry clinging to rocks but no sign of the truck. Once Blades fishes Jerry out of the water, they question him and he claims to have see the ghost of the Lady of Griffin Rock.

The next morning, the Bots ask Cody to explain ghosts and he does his best, though Blades still doesn't want to meet one, having seen all the Haunted Halls movies. Cody's interrupted by a call from Frankie, who has seen Huxley Prescott's news report on the ghost and believes it's time to test Doc Greene's Spectral Vapor Filter. The pair meet at the Hall of Inspiration, where Frankie points out the portrait of Charlotte Wayne, the Lady of Griffin Rock. Cody takes a picture to show the driver, and Frankie hands him a Filter. When Cody arrives back at the station, Chief Burns is checking on Evan and Myles. Cody's attempts to tell the Chief about Charlotte are interrupted by a call from Russell at the bank, reporting a ghost. Cody gives the Chief the Filter before he takes the team to investigate.

The team arrives at the bank in time for the security system to seal off the building. The team are startled when a Ghost Soldier appears and floats into a vault. Boulder opens the vault but the soldier floats back out. To Blades's discomfort, the team splits up to follow it, but after it has a brief encounter with Heatwave, the team follows the ghost outside until it vanishes through a wall. Cody alerts them to the alarm at the bank, and the team rushes back to find the vault empty.

Cody alerts them to more trouble—there's reports of ghosts all over town! A ghost at the restaurant causes a fire which Heatwave and Kade put out, but Kade's startled by the ghost and flees. Another ghost scares people at a jewelery store and passes right through Boulder and Chase. Cody suggests using the Spectral Vapor Filter, but the device only holds the ghost temporarily. Kade reports that the register at the restaurant has been emptied. Prescott tries to interview a ghost, only to be frightened off. As he speeds away, the dish is clipped off his van by an overhanging tree, and Chase has to save a couple of bystanders from being flattened by it. Dani and Blades also have a close encounter with a ghost.

Frankie recognizes one of the ghosts on the news report and shows the picture to Doc Greene. They grab Cody and check out the portraits at the Hall of Inspiration, which all turn out to be the people who are appearing as ghosts. They're caught unawares by a ghost popping through the wall, and when Frankie uses her Spectral Vapor Filter on it, it only holds the ghost for a few seconds. Then they realize that it's just the hologram of Chester A. Arthur. This leads them down a new line of thinking, and the soon determine that the ghosts are appearing where there are hologram projectors. Among the holograms in the database are Evan and Myles.

Chief Burns soon determines that the pair are no longer locked up, having left holograms in their cells. Cody comes up with a plan, and Graham and Boulder are called off from the jewelery store.
As Evan and Myles loot the store, the Rescue Bots surround the entrance with the help of hologram Bots. When the pair come up, along with their own hologram duplicates, they're swiftly chased down by Heatwave. Kade briefly see the Lady of Griffin Rock again and waves her off as a hologram.

Later, at the Hall of Inspiration, Frankie puts on a show of the holograms, as they were originally intended to be seen. Kade wonders where the Lady of Griffin Rock is, and Doc Greene points out she was never in the hologram database.
Notes
Continuity notes
* The bank is a completely different building from the one that appeared in "Four Bots and a Baby". This is probably not an error, seeing as that bank nearly fell into a sinkhole.
* Evan and Myles previously appeared in "Small Blessings".
* The character model for the Ghost Gangster was previously used during "The Alien Invasion of Griffin Rock" as one of the people trying to flee on the island's ferry. As the gangster is supposed to predate 1949, it's presumably not the same guy.
* Gadgets and powers:
** Apparently, Heatwave's knuckle-lights function as lights as well as water nozzles.

Real-world references
* The Spectral Vapor Filters bear more than a slight resemblance to the traps used by the Ghostbusters.
**On the note of Ghostbusters, one of Maurice LaMarche's, Chief Burns' voice actor, well-known role as a voice actor was as Dr. Egon Spengler in both The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters.
* Barney is an homage to Barney Fife from The Andy Griffith Show.

Trivia
* How the heck did the two thieves manage to clean out the bank vault by themselves in that short a time? And how did they rob a restaurant while it was on fire?
* Why does Frankie keep a Spectral Vapour Filter in a drawer with her clothing?
* Kade sleeps with a night light!
* This episode was later adapted into storybook form as The Ghosts of Griffin Rock.

* Gadgets and powers:
** Apparently, Heatwave's knuckle-lights function as lights as well as water nozzles.

Real-world references
* The Spectral Vapor Filters bear more than a slight resemblance to the traps used by the Ghostbusters.
**On the note of Ghostbusters, one of Maurice LaMarche's, Chief Burns' voice actor, well-known role as a voice actor was as Egon in both The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters.

After discovering an island of dinosaurs, Optimus must embrace his primal side.

Synopsis
Outside the Griffin Rock firehouse, Optimus Prime gives a brief speech as a prelude to a routine inspection of how well the Rescue Bots are acclimatizing. As Optimus observes with Cody, Boulder and Graham move rocks into the shape of a Rescue Bot insignia. Chase and Chief Burns engage in a race with Heatwave and Kade, though Heatwave "cheats" by using his boat form to take a short cut through a river. Dani and Blades attempt a loop of the stone griffin atop Mount Griffin, only to encounter a pterodactyl sitting atop the peak. Once the roads to the mountain are closed off, the team contacts Doc Greene to take a look at the creature. They speculate that it came up through one of the sinkholes that opened up recently. In the meantime, Cody is hunting for an idea for his Lad Pioneer merit project. Unfortunately his attempt at playing the bugle is a bust, so Heatwave suggests he teach Cody self-defense. Cody's attempt at pushing over barrels is even less successful than his bugling. In the control center, Chief Burns and Optimus take an emergency call from Doc Greene, whose hang glider is being pursued by the pterodactyl. Dani and Blades soon catch the creature in a huge cage and deposit it on the fire station roof, where Doc Greene attaches a tracking device to its leg, and they release it. The pterodactyl heads off over the sea, leading to the team concluding that it originated from Wayward Island.

Kade and Doc Greene head out to Wayward Island in Heatwave, taking Trex along (towed behind in a rubber raft) as a bodyguard. Leaving Heatwave and Kade at the shore, Doc Greene heads inland riding on Trex. He soon stumbles on a clearing containing a handful of real live dinosaurs, and spots a rock-filled sinkhole. As he moves the rocks aside, he accidentally triggers a rockfall, and though Trex manages to nudge him out of the way, the robot dino himself becomes buried. At the mercy of the dinosaurs, Doc Greene calls for help, and Heatwave quickly arrives to lend a hand. Unfortunately the dinosaurs turn out to be too much even for Heatwave, who has to follow Doc Greene back to the beach, leaving Trex trapped. Back at base, Graham and Boulder try to interest Cody in some unsolvable equations courtesy of Gremsky Tech. but he declines and heads down to the bunker. There, Chase attempts to get Cody involved in a game show he's created called "Police Challenge". When Cody's not enthusiastic about that either, Optimus observes that no one's asked what he wants to do.

Heatwave returns with Kade and Doc Greene. As the Mayor is making public noises about turning the pterodactyl into a tourist attraction, Chief Burns realizes they have to protect the dinosaurs by returning them underground. While Cody and Optimus observe from base, the team heads out to Wayward Island on the Darby Ava. They locate Trex, but are immediately set on by the unhappy dinosaurs. Blades is damaged when one of them bites his tail rotor, resulting in Heatwave calling a retreat. Unfortunately the four Bots run straight into a tar pit and start sinking. Back at base, Optimus decides it's time for him to lend a hand, and takes Cody along. Driving along the ocean floor, they quickly reach Wayward Island and find the clearing full of dinosaurs. As the dinosaurs seem to object to anything which is not a dinosaur, Optimus scans Trex, taking on a new Tyrannosaurus alternate mode. Cody deems this "cool".

The rest of the team is startled when dino Optimus arrives at the tar pit, but with his help, the Rescue Bots are extracted from their sticky predicament. Though Heatwave apologizes for failing the mission, Optimus asserts the mission isn't over yet, and they head back to the sinkhole. The dinosaurs are still hostile, but Cody suggests asking them what's bugging them. Optimus gets them to back off long enough for Cody to peer inside the sinkhole, and he spots baby dinosaurs, separated from their parents by the rockfall. Optimus unleashes a sonic blast that clears the rocks, reuniting the dinosaurs with their young. As the happy dinosaurs head back underground, the team starts sealing up the hole. Heatwave takes a moment to offer words of thanks to Optimus, only for the Autobot leader to briefly lose his composure and roar at Heatwave.

Back at base, Cody announces he's decided on a Lad Pioneer project: building a life-size dinosaur model, the head of which an indignant Blades discovers lying on his launch pad.
* Optimus briefly exhibits primal behaviour foreshadowing the organic-scanning complications that will be explored further in "Big Game" and, to a lesser extent, "Quarry's Quarry".

Transformers references
* Optimus Prime obliquely refere to Unicron when he tells Kade that "there are more things under this Earth than most humans know."

Real-world references
* The episode's title references the 1988 animated film The Land Before Time.
* Doc Greene says he's wanted to see a pterodactyl since he was the size of a Compsognathus.
* Chase refers to Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
* Blades makes several references to Jurassic Park, including having seen a movie about an island of dinosaurs, and the idea that a Tyrannosaurus can't see you if you're standing still.
* Optimus paraphrases Back to the Future.
* Blades refers to Optimus as a "dinosaur whisperer", a reference to National Geographic series Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan, and ultimately to the book and film The Horse Whisperer.
* Robotic dinosaurs that use dinosaur DNA that were uncontrollable at first were also seen in other acquired Hasbro property, Power Rangers. In Power Rangers Dino Thunder, the Biozords created by Anton Mercer and Tommy Oliver were created by merging dinosaur-like reptile DNA with machines. They also need to be 'tamed' using a power source, in that case, the Dino Thunder Rangers' morphers instead of energon

Animation and technical errors
* The Settlers' Bell is missing from the lighthouse in the picture Graham shows off of the docks.

Trivia
* Cody rides inside Optimus while the latter is in robot mode, something common in Rescue Bots, but not so much in Transformers: Prime, where Optimus spends most of his time.
* This episode was later adapted into storybook form as Land Before Prime.
An intruder uses a robot Tyrannosaurus rex to plant a virus in Griffin Rock's central computer, causing havoc.

Synopsis
One exceedingly foggy day, the Rescue Bots marvel at this new weather, and Blades is particularly happy because it means he'll be grounded and can watch TV. Mr. Bufkin calls the emergency line to report a dinosaur near the lab, and when Cody checks out the location on the ComTab, he spots Frankie being menaced by the robotic Tyrannosaurus rex from the museum. The Rescue Bots transform, and Cody rides with Dani in Blades. They quickly reach the lab and surround the dino bot, only to find its off switch is missing. Frankie and Doc Greene put their fears at rest though—the dinosaur has been reprogrammed to be controlled by Doc Greene's gauntlet, and can now do the Macarena.

Redubbed Trex, the dinosaur has been pressed into service fetching coffee and guarding the lab. Doc Greene explains that the lab has been broken into recently and left behind items such as the nanites. Cody recognizes the logo on the nanites from the shark submarine wreckage. Greene believes the intruder is trying to hack into the town's central computer. The Burns family leaves to investigate a report from the mayor.

While Trex stomps around in the fog, a shadowy figure uses Greene's stolen gauntlet to access his systems. When Frankie calls Trex in, she find the discarded gauntlet and when Greene plugs Trex into the computer, it detects an incursion through the firewall.

Cody and the bots get lost in the fog, but are soon reunited with the rest of the family. Their troubles aren't over as technology begins to malfunction. The hologram stoplight leaves its post, the park sprinklers go off, and a garbage truck begins dumping garbage on City Hall. Mayor Luskey, now trapped inside, is drenched by the sprinkler system. As Cody is taking a call from Frankie who tells him the island's mainframe has been hacked, he's menaced by a robo-landscaper. Chase and Boulder make short work of the device, and the team splits up to take care of the many emergency calls they're getting.

At the lab, Greene starts running an anti-virus program from his PDA, only for them to realize that Trex is responsible for the virus. The dinosaur starts chasing them, and Greene's gauntlet is useless to control it.

While Heatwave and Kade work at rescuing the mayor for town hall, Chase helps prevent a TXTing driver from running into a truck. With Boulder's help, Heatwave extracts the mayor, who is furious to learn that Doc Greene is partly responsible. Dani and Cody spot a swarm of robo-landscapers moving through town.

Trex, stalking around the lab, knocks the PDA loose from the computer. Frankie temporarily leaves her hiding place to plug it back in, but manages to avoid being chomped by the dinosaur. As the virus removal resumes, Trex runs out of the lab.

The Rescue Bots fight with the landscapers. They're outnumbered, but luckily the antivirus works in time to shut down the landscapers. With that threat gone, they face another one—Trex has arrived. Doc Greene and Frankie haul up. After Trex knocks over their truck, the Rescue Bots pile on and manage to subdue the robotic beast. Cody has an idea to control Trex via verbal commands, and Greene commands Trex to bring his coffee. It works, and Greene gets a lift back to his lab in Blades so he can remove the virus from Trex. The rest of the team arrives to be told by Greene that it's too late! While they're gasping in horror, he clarifies that it's too late for them to watch the devirus process, and Trex is fine.

The next day, the team is contemplating the mess the town is in, when Doc Greene delivers devastating news—the mayor has relieved him of his post as lead scientist of Griffin Rock. Nearby, a shadowy figure scurries away, dropping a card with a familiar logo on it.
Continuity notes
*Cody's adventure with the nanites took place in "Cody on Patrol", while the shark sub appeared in "Deep Trouble".
*The newspaper dispenser was previously seen being invented in "Hotshots". The robo-landscapers were, of course, first seen in "Under Pressure".
*Gadgets and powers:
**Chase's left wrist gadget has 2 electric taser plugs.
Transformers references
*Boulder thanks the AllSpark.

Real-world references
*Cody has a piece of Rescue Bots incidental music as his ringtone.
*The Macarena was a popular song. Twice. It's a mystery to us too.
*Frankie slides down Trex's back Flintstones style.
*The ripple in the puddle when the group encounters Trex in the fog is most likely a nod to a famous sequence from the original Jurassic Park.
* The idea of a villain taking over a dinosaur robot has happened before in a franchise now owned by Hasbro: Power Rangers. In Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord was taken control after the Megazord was taken out of commission to stomp on the Power Rangers, who were thrown out of their cockpit.
Trivia
*Though online listings also spelled this title "Return of the Dinobot", the official script has it spelled "Dino Bot".

Real-world references
* The Spectral Vapor Filters bear more than a slight resemblance to the traps used by the Ghostbusters.
* Barney is an homage to Barney Fife from The Andy Griffith Show.
* Maurice LaMarche, Charlie Burns' voice actor, voiced Egon Spengler in the Real Ghostbusters cartoon

Trivia
* How the heck did the two thieves manage to clean out the bank vault by themselves in that short a time? And how did they rob a restaurant while it was on fire?
* Why does Frankie keep a Spectral Vapour Filter in a drawer with her clothing?
* Kade sleeps with a night light!
