A crazed Wasp travels to Earth to exact his revenge on Bumblebee.

Synopsis
Drawing closer to Earth in their pursuit of the presumed traitor Wasp, Sentinel Prime and Jazz are at their stations on the bridge of the Elite Guard's ship when Longarm Prime contacts them and demands to know what they are doing in the Earth sector. Ultra Magnus joins the conference call to apologize for not letting Longarm know of the situation, pointing out that they couldn't risk tipping off Wasp when he stands poised to lead them to his Decepticon contact on the planet. Except, as Jazz points out, Wasp isn't headed for the Decepticons... he's making a bee-line for the Autobots' base!

In the Autobots' headquarters, Bumblebee is immersed in a game of Ninja Gladiator when Optimus Prime shuts the television off and reprimands Bumblebee for neglecting his monitor duty. In mid-argument, the base computers detect a Cybertronian signal nearby, but no other information can be obtained due to interference caused by recent torrential rain, Prime and the other Autobots have to depart to investigate first-hand. Bumblebee, of course, returns to playing his video game.

The Elite Guard ship touches down in Detroit, and Sentinel and Jazz disembark. Sentinel is immediately disgusted by the notion of liquid falling from the sky, and finds himself all but incapable of driving on the slick roads, but Jazz just rolls with it.

Back at the base, Bumblebee continues playing games until the base is suddenly plunged into darkness. As the emergency lights come on, Bumblebee finds himself staring into the all-too-familiar face of Wasp, now sporting an Earth-mode body styled after Bumblebee's own. Bumblebee tries to explain that they had both been set up by Longarm, but the insane Wasp doesn't care, and downs Bumblebee with a blast of his stingers. Just before passing out, Bumblebee sees Wasp standing over him with a strange gun fitted with a glowing green canister, and vowing to make Bumblebee lose everything, just like he did...

A little later, Bumblebee awakens to find the other Autobots all staring down at him, including... himself? Looking down at himself, Bumblebee is horrified to discover that Wasp has repainted his armor, swapped their helmets, and exchange their vocal synthesizers, making each a dead ringer for the other. Bumblebee attempts to convince the other Autobots that he is himself, but they aren't sold, and when Ratchet attempts to stasis cuff him, Bumblebee is forced to shoot out the lights and make a break for it. He zooms out of the plant, right past Sentinel Prime and Jazz, who intercept Prime and the other Autobots when they try to pursue him. Sentinel demands to know why Optimus's Autobots haven't checked in in so long, but when Optimus tries to explain, Sentinel refuses to listen, informing them he is here to bring in Wasp... who, Optimus points out, just drove right past him. Sentinel ignores Optimus when he tries to tell him that Longarm is the real traitor, and departs immediately to hunt down "Wasp". Optimus instructs his Autobots to locate Wasp first, and they head out to search, while the true Wasp tells them he will stay behind in case Bumblebee comes back.

On Cybertron, Shockwave desperately makes another attempt to contact the missing Megatron, and transmits a message to him alerting him to the direness of the situation. To prevent his cover from being blown, Shockwave is about to take matters into his own hands...

Back on Earth, Optimus and Ratchet discuss how odd "Bumblebee" has been behaving when two jets suddenly come roaring by overhead. Knowing that no organic could pilot a plane the way these two crafts fly, the two Autobots assume they are dealing with Decepticons, and zoom after them in hot pursuit. The two jets soon track down "Wasp", who is desperately attempting to rub his green paint off with a discarded couch cushion, and transform to robot mode to attack him with blasts of flame and roaring hurricane winds. Ratchet and Optimus arrive to hold off these apparent Decepticons, who reveal a remarkable power to combine into one mighty robot, but before the fighting can get too intense, Sentinel and Jazz arrive to reveal that these two are, in fact, Autobots! Sentinel introduces Jetfire and Jetstorm, Elite Guard warriors created using specs from Starscream, and orders the duo to resume their mission.

In the Autobots' base, Wasp is playing (and losing) Ninja Gladiator, and decides that he could get used to being Bumblebee. In order to complete the illusion, Wasp scans the Autobots' computer files, so that he can learn everything about Bumblebee and better pass himself off as his old rival.

Racing through the city streets, Bumblebee discovers a hot dog cart and desperate tries slathering his armor in mustard to try and make him look more like himself. He is caught in the act by Bulkhead and Prowl, but he is finally able to convince Bulkhead of his true identity when he tells him something only he could know: namely, that he took the blame for Bulkhead when he knocked a tower over on Sentinel Prime at boot camp. Jetfire and Jetstorm arrive just in time to witness this happy scene, but get the wrong end of the stick and assume that Bulkhead and Prowl are traitors as well! The twins report this to Sentinel, and he, Optimus, Jazz and Ratchet head for their position, with Sentinel obstinately refusing to listen to Optimus as he attempts to explain the numerous misunderstandings that have happened. When everyone reunites, Bulkhead explains that Bumblebee is definitely Bumblebee, and Optimus orders everyone back to the plant to straighten everything out.

A little later, back at the plant, Wasp cheerily denies Bumblebee's accusations, using the information he has gleaned from the Autobots files to "prove" he is who he claims. When interrogation yields no results, Bulkhead comes up with the best way to figure out who's who: A versus match on Ninja Gladiator! Before the game even starts, Wasp chokes, and grabs Bumblebee, holding his stinger to his neck. Wasp blasts out the lights to cover his escape, and when the emergency lights kick in, both Wasp and Bumblebee are gone. The Autobots head outside, where they spot was looks like Bumblebee lying on the ground. Bulkhead assumes it is Wasp and leaps upon the prone figure, pummelling him and ripping off his helmet... only to find out that it really is Bumblebee underneath. Prowl examines Bumblebee's helmet, and discovers that their colors were switched so quickly because Wasp had hit him with an electronic paintjob that he could turn off with the press of a button. As things begin to calm down, the truth of the whole matter hits Jazz—if Wasp really was innocent, that means that Longarm Prime really is a Decepticon spy!

Sometime later, on Cybertron, Ironhide is searching for Longarm in order to apprehend him. Ironhide is horrified to discover the mangled, barely-alive body of Ultra Magnus, and asks the Supreme Commander who was responsible. Before collapsing, Ultra Magnus manages to choke out... "Shock...wave..."
Miscellaneous trivia
*This episode received an impromptu online debut on March 25 2009, when a copy loaded onto the Cartoon Network website's server, intended to go live after the episode aired a few days later, was pilfered and leaked by some ne'er-do-wells. Something similar happened with much of the third season of The Venture Brothers.

Jetstorm was a simple repair bot who, along with his brother Jetfire, nearly died in an on-site accident. Viewed by the Elite Guard as completely expendable, Jetstorm and his brother were chosen to have Decepticon coding (acquired from Starscream during his time in custody) grafted onto their Autobot shells in hopes that the pair would gain the Decepticons' flight abilities. Wheeljack, Perceptor and Red Alert did the necessary calculations and programming needed. After this, the pair's combat abilities were tested against Jazz, whom they easily defeated.

To try their combat skills against a Decepticon, Starscream's programming was scanned into a combat simulator. However, Starscream's programming overpowered the training system, and the battle became real. Starscream's strength and cunning were more than they expected; Jetfire briefly lost control of his flame throwers and began to burn up, only to be saved when Jetstorm's wind turbines put out the flames. With newfound determination, the two combined into Safeguard for the first time and destroyed the virtual Decepticon. After this performance, Jetstorm and his brother were inducted into the Elite Guard. Rise of Safeguard

Later, Jetstorm, along with his brother, Jazz, and Sentinel Prime, were sent by Longarm to chase after the supposed Decepticon spy Wasp. The twins soon found a Wasp-disguised Bumblebee, who Wasp intended to frame by swapping paintjobs and voices, but Jetstorm accidentally flew Bumblebee away. They then were confronted by Optimus Prime and Ratchet, who mistook them for Decepticons due to their ability to fly. After a one-on-one battle with Optimus & Ratchet (with Jetstorm facing Optimus and Jetfire facing Ratchet, respectively), the two combined into Safeguard to try and gain the upper-hand, only to have the brawl end when Sentinel & Jazz arrived and cleared up the misunderstanding. Then, under Sentinel's orders, the twins set out to find Wasp once more.

They later found him, with Bulkhead and Prowl, who tried to convince them that Wasp swapped places with Bumblebee, but to no avail. The twins assumed them to be traitors and attacked them. The long battle was, once again, broken up by the others, who have become of Bumblebee's true identity. The group quickly headed back to the Autobot's base to try and sort this out. During the fighting however, Wasp had hacked into the Autobot's files on Bumblebee, allowing Wasp to know everything about him. Bulkhead decided to settle it with a game of Ninja Gladiator to determine the real Bumblebee. Jetfire and Jetstorm were so amazed by the video games that they both shouted that they would play the winner. This would not happen, as Wasp revealed his true identity under the pressure. He swapped the paint jobs back and was able to escape. Where Is Thy Sting?
*Jetfire and Jetstorm (Entertainment Pack, 2008)

: Available only in a Voyager-class two-pack with his brother Jetfire, Jetstorm transforms into a blue Cybertronic wedge-shaped jet. He features pop-up "ice blades" in his robot mode armor. He can combine with his brother in both modes; in vehicle mode, they form an odd super-jet simply by docking together along their undercarriages (Yes, yes, har har, very droll), while Jetstorm's robot mode forms the left half of the super robot Safeguard.

Trivia
* Jetstorm's design, revealed at 2008, contains numerous homages to the Beast Machines Vehicon General Jetstorm, particularly his helmet.

* Jetfire and Jetstorm's fire/ice theme has its roots in some of the earliest concepts of Animated. Sean Galloway, who had been commissioned to do early concept work for the series, revealed several pieces of this concept art long before the "final" Derrick Wyatt-designed characters were shown. Among these images were a pair of "fire and wind" robots who have a few features that made it into the jet-twins' final designs.

* In addition to the fire/ice theme, the twins' method of combination is an intentional homage on Wyatt's part to Hyoryu and Enryu/Choryujin from the final installment of Takara's Brave Series, King of Braves GaoGaiGar.

* In the early stages of the toy's development, the end of the twins' combined vehicle mode is supposed to split apart and wings are supposed to slide out of the shins, so that the combined mode resembles an X-wing fighter<a href="#cite_note-0" title="">[1]</a>; however, this did not appear in the released instructions. Their robot modes were also initially shown mistransformed; both are supposed to have visible hands in their individual and combined modes.
Arcee was an Autobot intelligence officer during the Great War. She carried crucial access codes, but was damaged in the line of duty. Ratchet repaired her and tried to take her to safety, but the two were attacked by Lockdown, who had been hired by the Decepticons to bring her in.

Held prisoner within Lockdown's ship, Arcee insisted that Ratchet use his electromagnetic pulse tool to wipe the codes from her head. Lockdown overheard this and tried to stop the pair, but in the struggle the device overloaded and sent out a powerful burst. In the confusion, Ratchet and Arcee were somehow able to escape... but the EMP blast had wiped Arcee's memory clean. The Thrill of the Hunt
A profound and moving narrative that forces the audience to re-evaluate all conceptions of their identity. Both thrilling and immersive, "The Beast Within" redefines the era as it forces a new standard of storytelling. Starting on an epic battle comparable to The Lord of the Rings or The Matrix, but the conflict pales in comparison to the internal emotional struggle of Grimlock as he is forced to restrain his own emotions for the sake of his tactical ideology. Pushed to both physical and psychological limits, he and his compatriots do the unthinkable and fuse, physically and conceptually, into a unified truth that mirrors us all. But with the revelation of this most sacred ability comes a new threat to the Autobots... a threat that is somehow familiar.
Synopsis
Part 1
In the war-torn battlefields of an Autobot-Decepticon battle, Grimlock meditates on releasing his full power onto the ruthless Decepticons. But, alas, he cannot! For if he let go of any restraint, he would let loose the Beast! The casualties mount; despite losses on their side, the Decepticons are gaining victory! Optimus Prime is battered and surrounded by Megatron and his troops.

Truly, Grimlock has no choice; he must release the Beast within! With Grimlock calling out, "Dinobots! UNITE!", a large amount of wires sprout out from everywhere. The end result is an awesome titan of power! Stricken with fear, Megatron orders the Decepticons to destroy the massive creature! Predaking forms! The opposing titans battle, but it is already lost for Predaking, for a slash of the Beast's sword takes care of the Predacon combiner. The Seekers and Laserbeak try to attack the Beast, but their attacks are pitiful! The Beast destroys them in one fell swoop! Devastator and Bruticus are next, but the Beast simply tears them apart, and does the same for Menasor, even though the Stunticon combiner pleads for his life.

With no Decepticons left to destroy, the Beast turns to the Autobots! Prime calls to Grimlock to regain mental control, but the Beast utters one thing... "K ...I ...L ...L".

Part 2: Consequences
With many Autobots having fallen to the Beast, a small group of survivors attempts to flee the scene huddled inside Optimus Prime's trailer. But Prime is not fast enough - the Beast rips his trailer open like a tin can with one swipe of his massive claw, and Skids is torn from within and meets his end in the creature's grip. With Prime running on rims, salvation arrives at the last minute in the form of Jetfire, who swoops in to pick up the Autobots and transport them to safety. Although Bumblebee urges Prime to climb aboard as well, he speeds ahead, to the rim of a crevasse, while Jetfire slows the Beast with a burst from his afterburners. The Beast emerges from the flames, and Prime calls out to his former troops, but with no response save a monstrous snarl, he opens fire. The Beast lunges at him and they grapple, until Prime shifts the monster's weight and causes both it and himself to topple into the chasm. At the last minute, Jetfire soars to the rescue again, plucking Prime out of mid-air as the Beast topples to the bottom of the pit and shatters into fragments. As Prime observes the smoking wreck, Jetfire inquires if it is over, to which Prime responds - "Is it ever really over?" All hope it is.

Errors
*This comic was produced.

Items of note
* Thankfully, this comic cannot take place in any previously-established continuity, due to the various characters being alive alongside other characters who were not around at certain times, the rampant gratuitous deaths, etc.

*Simon Furman is thanked for "help and support in the production of this comic." One can only wonder what "help" this was, but it's best not to contemplate what this comic might have been like without it.

* While Part 1 features artwork that is heavily Dreamwave-inspired, often looking like it is specifically attempting to ape Pat Lee's style, Part 2 sees Gibson draw in a style he is more accustomed to. The Dreamwave influence is still felt, however, particularly when Prime draws his rifle from his "backpack" - a concept that comes directly from the original Dreamwave miniseries.

* Part 1 features digitally-applied lettering that is rarely aligned correctly and features virtually no periods or commas. Part 2 is lettered by hand.

*Grimlock's line "I cannot let him out...Not again" hints at a prior appearance of the Beast that the world was fortunate enough to avoid witnessing.
