First Aid is an avowed pacifist. When the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticons]] attacked an inhabited city on [[Earth]], [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] called upon the Protectobots to evacuate the civilians caught in the crossfire. First Aid helped an injured man discovered by Streetwise. Later, as Earth's orbit was diverted to the [[Sun]] by the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]], First Aid brought civilians to a meat locker that [[Groove (G1)|Groove]] and Streetwise had commandeered to help the [[human]]s cool down. {{storylink|The Revenge of Bruticus}}

First Aid, as part of Defensor, was the arm that wielded the rifle which totally blew up [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]]. Afterwards, he was with the Protectobots when they saved some window-washers from a burning skyscraper. Later still, First Aid and the other Protectobots were ordered to help defend [[Ark (G1)|Autobot Headquarters]] from a Decepticon attack. The Combaticons then attacked a nearby shuttle bay, hoping to scrap the ships which would be used to ferry delegates to the conference. First Aid happily blasted away at the Combaticons. After the battle, First Aid was tending to a serious wound Magnus suffered on his back, when he used his own body to shield Wheelie from a Decepticon attack. When attention turned to the damaged shuttle, Ultra Magnus insisted First Aid repair the ship first and deal with his injuries later. Guess he forgot First Aid was a doctor, not a mechanic! When the Autobots were asked to help the Dutch authorities deal with French rebels, First Aid bemoaned the whole situation, wondering why humans were always fighting amongst themselves. After the human aggressors were dispersed, a Decepticon sneak attack knocked [[Blades (G1)|Blades]] out of the sky, and First Aid carried him back to Metroplex for repairs. No sooner was the operation complete than an intruder alert within the city drew the medic's attention, and he found the Decepticon Swindle stealing Metroplex's [[transformation cog]]. First Aid attempted to talk the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticon]] into handing the cog over, but Swindle laughed in his face, and was easily able make off with his loot because First Aid's pacifism meant that he refused to fight back. Despite [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Rodimus Prime]]'s attempts to convince First Aid that they didn't expect him to compromise his beliefs, the medic felt he was a liability to the Autobots and left, taking up residence in a junk yard and helping its custodian [[NUL-A (G1)|NUL-A]] chug down some oil and repair some refrigerators. In time, First Aid was approached by [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]], who brought dire news that the immobilized Metroplex was under attack from Trypticon. When [[Jessica Morgan]] was injured in a Decepticon attack on her [[Mark Morgan|father]]'s laboratory, First Aid was summoned to transport her to County General Hospital. First Aid helped to restore the paralyzed Jessica's ability to walk with an exo-skeleton, but his efforts were met only with hatred from her father, who loathed the Transformers. Subsequently, when news reached the Autobots that Optimus Prime's body was being kept at Morgan's lab, First Aid and the Protectobots were part of the battle unit that returned there, merged as Defensor. However, Defensor's central component was damaged battling Bruticus; with Hot Spot out of action, the Protectobots could not maintain their super-robot form. Getting an idea, the Autobots' human friend [[Kenji]] told [[Superion (G1)|Superion]] to shoot out the legs of the Decepticon super-robots. Superion was heavily damaged in the first strike run, however, and Hot Spot needed time in his repair bay mode to bring the Aerialbots back to fighting strength. While Blades snuck into Trypticon alone to rescue Dalton, First Aid, Streetwise and Groove defended Hot Spot against both Menasor and Bruticus. They held out long enough for the Aerialbots to be revived. First Aid and the Protectobots were active in Cybertron's defense as Defensor during the assault, {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} {{storylink|The Mystery of Planet Master}} after which they were reassigned to Earth to help keep the Decepticons busy while [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Hot Rod]] and the [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]]s searched for the missing [[Matrix of Leadership]]. On a security sweep, the Protectobots ran across their old nemeses, the Combaticons, and the two teams quickly combined to battle as Bruticus and Defensor. {{storylink|Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime}}

When Galvatron made another strike on Cybertron, this time to steal the super-metal [[Cybertonuron]], First Aid and the Protectobots assembled before the [[space bridge]] on Earth to be transported into battle. As he helped defend the planet, First Aid was seen delivering a mighty kick to the face of... er, his fellow Autobot [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]]. First Aid and the Protectobots were dispatched to [[Peru]] with the [[Trainbot]]s when a volcano erupted, leaving a mountainside village in dire peril. Their rescue mission was blocked first by the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacons]], who [[Shouki]] and the Trainbots stepped in to occupy, then by the the Decepticon Headmasters. True to his devout pacifism, First Aid was not seen engaging in battle until the Protectobots formed Defensor. First Aid and the Protectobots were part of a strike team that flew to the [[Moon (moon)|moon]] to disrupt Scorponok's gathering of Decepticons. After the death of Ultra Magnus, the Autobots were desperately trying to pick up the slack during Sixshot's campaign of destruction around the globe. First Aid and the Protectobots assembled as Defensor to go out and confront Sixshot at one of the attack sites, but they apparently didn't fare too well. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}} When the Decepticons seemingly abandoned Earth, First Aid and the Protectobots assisted Spike in ridding the planet of all traces of their departed foes, starting with the Decepticons' abandoned Earth base. Following a lengthy period of inactivity, the Decepticons renewed their attacks on Earth. With [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] still off in space, Spike Witwicky dispatched First Aid and the Protectobots to Canberra, [[Australia]] to confronted Bruticus at one of Scorponok's new Death Towers. As Defensor, the Protectobots were beaten severely by Bruticus, and First Aid was even knocked out of the arm socket. Using Scramble Power, Defensor switched Streetwise up to his shoulder and reattached First Aid as a leg, still carrying his fireball cannon. Having learned of a Decepticon plot to acquire the human-made [[hydrothermocline]], Optimus Prime brought the Protectobots with him to [[Energy Futures Industries]] in order to guard the device. After [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]] and the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] arrived ready for a fight, the Transformers allowed themselves to be convinced of a better solution by [[Ethan Zachary]], an employee of EFI. Zachary would upload their minds into a video simulation program known as [[Multi-World]], allowing the Transformers to do battle without damaging the hydrothermocline or the surrounding area. Inside the game world, First Aid and [[Streetwise (G1)|Streetwise]] were exploring Vineland when their path was blocked by a web of thick vines. They were caught off-guard by the Combaticons [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]] and [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]], but were then miraculously saved by the living vines they had refrained from destroying moments ago. First Aid then used his [[decrystallizer cannon]] on the Decepticons, making them brittle enough for Streetwise to shatter with a burst from his compressed air cannon. First Aid later attempted to console a despondent [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] after the death of Optimus Prime, teaching him that it's best to worry more about the patients you can save rather than the patients you could not. Returning to the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] after attending Prime's funeral, First Aid and the other Autobots came under attack from the vessel's defense systems, control of which had been seized by the human criminal [[Mechanic (G1)|The Mechanic]]. First Aid and the others found them (and the [[Throttlebot]]s) hiding at [[Big Steve's Used Cars]], where the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticon]]s had already arrived. As the two teams battled each other, individually First Aid squared off with [[Brawl (G1)|Brawl]], and both sides were so blinded by their battle that they didn't notice [[Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team|RAAT]] making away with Goldbug and the Throttlebots. And, when Grimlock chose to disobey Prime's directives and make a tactical first strike against [[Jhiaxus (G2)|Jhiaxus]]'s ships, First Aid went with him.
