On Shout! Factory's release of season two (Volume two) there is a bonus feature entitled "The Combiner: Forming ''The Transformers'' Animated Series Featurette. From 22:39 on that feature to 23:16, [[Dan Gilvezan]] says the following of Chris Latta:

"Chris Latta was an incredibly talented guy. He also had some demons going on with him, and I think that's probably contributed to his early demise. He was a really, really sweet guy- hugely talented, a lot of energy. But it was clear that there was something in the background with Chris that... that wasn't gonna' let him come to fruition, I think. You know I'm looking back, it's easy to say that now, but... you got that feeling with Chris. It's like 'boy, this boy's headed for the cliff, you know?'"

I don't know how much of that exactly would be good to put on this page. The whole quote seems to say a lot of interesting stuff, yes, but I mean that writing the whole thing down on the page may or may not be overkill. In "The Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1", Dinobot decides to know the truth about the Golden Disk, and realizes that whenever he makes the correct conclusion, either he (if the Disk tells of a future that ultimately ''will'' happen, for then Dinobot would not be the master of his own fate) or the Disk (if the Disk tells what ''might'' happen, for then its power would be great) would "face oblivion." In this episode, Dinobot concludes that his choices are indeed his own, and- accurate to his prediction- the Disk is destroyed. But ironically, so is he, in the very process of making his own choice. The continuity error notes that Rampage says Transmutate's name before Transmutate gives it. This is true, but I don't think it's a continuity error. Rampage says that Transmutate is part transmetal and part mutant, calling it "''a'' Transmutate." This would seem to indicate that the term either already existed, or at the very least was invented by Rampage as a general term for a mutant/transmetal form, rather than an actual name he wanted to give Transmutate (especially since immediately after he gives this description, he asks for her (?) name). And either way, whether (as it seems) he was trying to give a general descriptive term to her form, or (as it does not, to me, seem) he was actually giving her a name, it seems quite likely that when Megatron later asks what her name is, she says "Trasmutate" ''because'' Rampage had used the term in reference to her ealier. :Yeah. His "naming" dialogue was slow, thoughtful, and figuring-out, with his tone of voice rising at "a trans-mutate!" to imply novelty and discovery. He even says "hmmmmm". If he'd really come up with it 5 minutes earlier the first time he said it, he wouldn't have bothered mentally sketching out and justifying it at such length the second time. When Inferno's [[stasis pod]] crashed to prehistoric [[Earth]], [[Tarantulas]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] immediately set out to claim him as their own. Unfortunately, Inferno had been awakened automatically, having scanned the form of a fire ant. Moreover, his beast mode came to overwhelm his logic circuits, causing Inferno to become wholly convinced that he was an actual fire ant and that his stasis pod was his "colony". [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] arrived at the scene and was immediately attacked by Inferno and Blackarachnia. During the fight, Tarantulas escaped with the stasis pod, which was his real goal, and an enraged Inferno followed. Pursuing the Predacons, [[Tigatron]] was able to destroy the stasis pod before Tarantulas was able to get it to his lab. This act put Inferno completely over the edge, and he went even crazier (if possible). Before he could finish Tigatron off, however, [[Optimus Primal|Optimus]] and [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] showed up and blew him to bits.

However, [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] took an immediate shine to the brutish psychopath, stating, "Oooohhh, I ''like'' him," and had him restored, possibly with some mental improvements. Thereafter, Inferno was fanatically loyal to Megatron, thinking of him as his "Queen", which Megatron found ''very'' annoying. A few death threats convinced Inferno to call Megatron "the Royalty" instead, although he occasionally backslid. {{storylink|Spider's Game}}

Inferno took part in the Predacon hunt after the Maximals' beast instincts had overtaken their programming. He merrily shot at their quarry, at least until the Maximals were able to overcome their beast instincts. Then he was shot out of the air by [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]]. {{storylink|Call of the Wild}} He led a diversionary assault on the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' with [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] and [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to allow Tarantulas to deliver an [[energon discharge virus]], and later accompanied his Queen to [[Tarantulas's lair]] to find more of the virus. Unfortunately, this meant he was at ground zero when [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] blew the Predacons away with an enormous fart. {{storylink|The Low Road}}

Though supposedly under Terrorsaur's leadership for an attack on Cheetor and [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], Inferno didn't wait for the signal to attack, instead plunging into frenzied battle. Though he had Cheetor pinned down for most of the fight, he was blasted out of the air by Tigatron. The three Predacons later ambushed Dinobot, defeating the Maximal before Terrorsaur and Waspinator were both taken out by Optimus. Inferno had Dinobot and Primal in his sights when Tigatron turned up to defend them. Inferno's act of igniting a nearby tree only made the Maximal more furious, and Inferno was soon blown away. {{storylink|Law of the Jungle}}

Sent on a mission by the Royalty, Inferno discovered a [[Golden Disk (Vok)|Golden Disk]] and managed to retrieve it, even as his systems were suffering from energon overload. After returning to base, he underwent repairs and subsequently took part in an attempt to stop Tigatron escaping the ''[[Darksyde]]''. He plummeted out of the air after Primal disconnected his jet thruster, and he had to be hauled back to base. {{storylink|Before the Storm}}

It wasn't long before he was given a new mission by the Royalty, and he tailed Blackarachnia and Tarantulas to the ''Axalon'', though he was temporarily delayed by having to dig a tunnel under the ship's force field. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 1}} He found the two spiders in the hold of the ''Axalon'', working on a stasis pod. Blasting Blackarachnia and setting Tarantulas on fire, Inferno barely had time to check out what they were doing before Blackarachnia recovered and shot him back. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 2}} After pulling himself together, he attacked Rhinox and Dinobot on the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s bridge, eventually being defeated and thrown bodily from the ship. The Royalty, faced with imminent defeat, gathered up his loyal soldier and retreated. {{storylink|Aftermath}}

With [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]]'s demise, Inferno was promoted to [[Second-in-command|Sub-Commander]]. After the two [[Fuzor]]s were "born", Inferno attacked them vigorously until the Royalty batted him aside and talked the pair into joining the Predacons. [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] later rode Inferno into battle against Dinobot, Cheetor and [[Rattrap]]. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)}} A mid-air collision saw Inferno and the Royalty temporarily swapping heads. The Predacons were on the verge of victory when [[Optimus Primal]] appeared, reborn as a [[Transmetal]]. Inferno accidentally blew away Tarantulas and Quickstrike before failing to beat Primal in a quick draw, and the Predacons were eventually forced to retreat. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)}}

Inferno and Waspinator were assigned to construct a [[jamming tower]], a mission they quickly completed, though in a manic fit, Inferno brought the new tower down on Waspinator's head while the latter was reporting to the Royalty. {{storylink|Tangled Web}} The pair then teamed up with Quickstrike to ambush Dinobot and Rattrap. Inferno managed to pin Dinobot down but ran out of ammo, and he would probably have been torn apart by the Maximal if it wasn't for Waspinator managing to take out [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] and Dinobot with one shot. After commending Waspinator for serving their Queen well, Inferno gathered up Dinobot and flew his prize back to base. {{storylink|Maximal, No More}}

Always keen to shoot something, Inferno joined Blackarachnia and the Royalty on a mission to infiltrate the ''Axalon''. While the Queen distracted Rhinox, Inferno and Blackarachnia slipped inside, and Inferno was able to blast the Maximal. Unfortunately, Rhinox quickly recovered and dealt Inferno a flurry of uppercuts to the chin, but this only gave the Royalty the chance to come to his loyal soldier's aid, and the trio were able to make off with the alien Golden Disk. The Predacons later visited an alien site and were blasted by an [[Metal Hunter|alien construct]] which appeared there. {{storylink|Other Visits (Part 1)}} The Royalty was able to take control of the construct, restoring Inferno and the others to the land of the living, before sending him on a mission with Waspinator to retrieve a [[transwarp cell]]. Afterward, Inferno was pressed into action defending the construct from the Maximals, and thus wasn't aboard when it exploded. {{storylink|Other Visits (Part 2)}}

Inferno, Quickstrike and the Royalty monitored Silverbolt and Blackarachnia, and Inferno wondered aloud why the spider didn't shoot the Fuzor. {{storylink|Bad Spark}} He merrily torched a valley full of [[protohuman]]s until Dinobot impaled him, used him as a shield, and then used Inferno's own gun to blow his head off. {{storylink|Code of Hero}} Inferno was sent to retrieve a new stasis pod, only to be disabled by Silverbolt. He recovered and fired on Silverbolt...and hit [[Transmutate (character)|Transmutate]] instead, triggering the creature to unleash its attack on everyone present. Inferno was surprisingly the only one sensible enough to duck the blast, and later joined [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]] in presenting the newcomer to his Queen. After some negotiation, the Royalty agreed to give Transmutate a chance, and the trio ambushed Silverbolt. When Transmutate refused to finish Silverbolt off, Inferno pushed it aside to shoot Silverbolt, only to be blasted by Transmutate's sonic weapon. {{storylink|Transmutate (episode)|Transmutate}}

With rescue for the Maximals seemingly impending, the Predacons mounted a full attack on the ''Axalon'', only to be driven off by [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]]'s cloaked [[transwarp cruiser]]. The Maximals subsequently teamed up to assault the Predacon base. During the attack, Inferno attempted to blast Rhinox, only to be perforated by a chaingun. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 1)}} Megatron's troops were scattered after the defeat, Inferno heading for a cave full of [[Energon (fuel)|energon]]. There he was found by Primal and Cheetor, and he ended up sacrificing himself by detonating a huge cache of energon in a failed attempt to defeat the Maximals. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 2)}} Despite his apparent vaporization, he revived yet again, though with several holes in his chassis. He joined his Queen at the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], and they headed for the ''Axalon'' along with Waspinator. Inferno was assigned to attack the new Maximal base with Rampage. Inferno's plan to draw Optimus out seemed to work, but Rampage had gotten distracted and left Inferno to it, and the fire ant was swiftly crushed by a boulder dropped by Blackarachnia. {{storylink|Deep Metal}} Inferno was next teamed up with Waspinator and Quickstrike to attempt to steal the [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]] module from the Maximals. After Waspinator was taken out by Silverbolt and Rattrap, Inferno pursued them relentlessly until he was able to snatch the module and return triumphantly with it to his Queen. {{storylink|Changing of the Guard}}

During a period when the Maximal base was undermanned, Inferno took part in an attack lead by his Queen. When Quickstrike was given lead position as they entered the base, Inferno asked why he hadn't been chosen, but the reason became clear moments later as Quickstrike was taken out by a sequence of booby traps. The Predacons stormed the base, but met with heavy resistance in the form of [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]], and were forced to retreat. {{storylink|Cutting Edge}} After Inferno plugged in the Predacons' new [[disruptor cannon]] too soon, he and Waspinator were forced to kidnap [[Una]] to complete installing the shielding. The task was completed, but Una escaped with Rattrap's help. Inferno, Waspinator and [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]] gave chase, only to end up colliding after Rattrap flicked mud into Waspinator's face. They returned to the cave housing the cannon in time for its firing, but as Una had taken the stabilizer crystal, it merely exploded. {{storylink|Go with the Flow}}

As the Predacons attempted to disrupt the power in the Maximal base during an operation to save Blackarachnia, Inferno managed to find the blind spot for the Maximal auto-guns from which he could safely fire. While crowing that the traitor would soon be destroyed, he was attacked by Optimus. He managed to dodge the missiles, but the move took him out of the blind spot, and he was promptly blasted by the auto-guns. {{storylink|Crossing the Rubicon}} A new plan allowed the Predacons to conquer the Maximal base, and Inferno was left in charge of the unconscious Maximals. Blackarachnia, the only one still functioning, got him to chase her and tricked him into stepping outside the base so she could shut him out and turn the auto-guns on him. {{storylink|Master Blaster}}

The destruction of the ''[[Darksyde]]'' at the hands of the [[Vok]]s' emissary, [[Tigerhawk]], left Inferno distraught at the loss of their colony. A short time later, he, Waspinator and Quickstrike were literally blown away by Tigerhawk. {{storylink|Other Victories}} After Inferno asserted that they needed to found a new colony, the Royalty sent him with Quickstrike and Waspinator to do just that. They soon found a potential new colony in the form of a protohuman settlement and, after the setback of Waspinator abandoning the cause and having to be shot, Inferno and Quickstike began their takeover. Unfortunately, the protohumans had been learning and met force with resistance. {{storylink|Nemesis Part 1}} Nonetheless, they seemed to succeed largely in driving the protohumans out, and they celebrated as the ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]'' appeared overhead. The celebration was short-lived, as moments later, the ship's main [[fusion cannon]] obliterated the area, killing both Predacons.

When [[Fractyl]] discovered [[Furmanite]], Inferno was told to watch him. When [[Packrat]] showed up, Inferno tried to burn him and accidentally triggered an energon/anti-energon explosion, allowing Packrat to steal the Furmanite. A temporal distortion drew the attention of both the Maximals and Predacons to a remote canyon, where Inferno and his fellow Predacons met their foes. The Maximals were losing, having been fought into a corner, when suddenly the battle was interrupted. At the [[Darksyde|Predacon base]], the ship's sensors detect two [[Stasis pod|stasis pods]] that have landed in [[Delta Quadrant]]. Desperate for troops, [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] and [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]] move out to secure them. Waspinator notices that there is only one moon now, and flies back into the base. [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], looking from afar, also notices the planet's single satellite. Sneaking into the base, Dinobot corners [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]], who is looking at the [[Golden Disk (Voyager)|Golden]] [[Golden Disk (Vok)|Disks]]. Grabbed by the thorax, Waspinator points out that there is only one moon now, and Dinobot explains the significance. They're on [[Earth]], and the Disks can foretell the future. In a surprising show of ambition, Waspinator offers to join forces with Dinobot to steal the disks, but Dinobot uses Waspinator to deactivate the shield (by throwing him at it), then escapes and shoots the computers. [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]], hauling the deactivated body of [[Tarantulas]] to his lab, makes a half-hearted effort to stop Dinobot. Having been reduced to a crushed cube, Waspinator is forced to drag himself to the [[CR chamber|restoration chamber]]. Poor Waspy.

Meanwhile, the [[Maximal|Maximals]] have found another stasis pod. [[Tigatron]] and [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] are heading out for a more extensive survey to see what other effects the [[Planet Buster]] has had on the planet. [[Rattrap]] says that they should open up the pod, but there is no [[spark]] within, and the [[protoform]] is a [[blank]]. Rattrap asks what the use of that is, and [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] says there isn't a use—yet. Elsewhere, the two pods the Predacons are seeking activate their [[DNA scanner|DNA scanners]], but the scanners malfunction. Two Transformers emerge, one a wolf-eagle hybrid, the other a scorpion-cobra hybrid. Neither recognizes the other; the scorpion-cobra speculates that he could beat the wolf-eagle up, and attacks. Inferno arrives, and attacks. Megatron, observing, alters their [[Command code|command codes]] to become Predacons. Introducing himself, the Predacon leader shows them that they are Transformers. The scorpion-cobra names itself [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]], and the wolf-eagle names itself [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]].

Elsewhere, Dinobot is talking to himself about the two disks. Do they hold the future, or just what might be the future? A quick look would confirm how he dies, but it could be used once, and Dinobot could not live unless he were master of his own fate. Destroying them would be a coward's act, so he resolves to know the truth, but later. Placing the original disk under a rock, he takes the alien disk back to the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]''. At the Maximal base, [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] is sent to find Dinobot, while Rhinox hooks himself up to some equipment for an unnamed purpose. Cheetor spots the Preds, but is attacked and pursued. Cheetor calls in his predicament to Rattrap, who prepares to wake Rhinox for battle, only for the computer to inform him that any disturbance to Rhinox—or the base—will separate Rhinox's [[core consciousness]] from his body. Dinobot arrives (hiding the disk) and asks what's going on, noting that Sentinel is on full alert. As Rattrap explains the problems, Dinobot, carrying more armament than a small battleship, declares that they must take the fight away from the base.

At the Predacon base, Tarantulas's mind is restored to his body, but he has left a psychic link with Blackarachnia, in an attempt to control her. Megatron contacts the base. Waspinator, finally revived, tries to tell Megatron what happened earlier, but Megatron orders them to link up with other Predacons. As Rattrap and Dinobot meet up with Cheetor on a dusty plain, the Predacons, double the Maximal numbers, prepare to attack.

==Regarding Sentinel==
This page currently states that Rattrap is about to use Sentinel when the base informs him that any interference with the base would separate Rhinox' Core Consciousness from his body. This seems to indicate to me that Sentinel was never turned on. And yet, when Dinobot comes in and asks what's going on, he explains that he is asking because "Sentinel is on alert." Furthermore, I always understood the ''Axalon's'' system to be saying that any disturbance to ''Rhinox'' would separate his core consciousness from his body since Rattrap attempts to wake him up ("Yo, Rhinox, sorry to interrupt your nap, but-") and the computer responds right after he does that ("Unit Rhinox's core consciousness has extended beyond measurable limits. Any disturbance will result in permanent loss of Spark.")
So, is it more accurate, instead, to say on this page that Rattrap does activate Sentinel, and he attempts to wake Rhinox back up because of the mounting threat of the Predacons, but he is warned that Rhinox can not be disturbed? [[User:Blazemane|Blazemane]] 21:20, 26 March 2010 (EDT)

An earthquake on a snowy mountainside raises questions from the nearby [[Tigatron]], on his way to file his weekly report with the rest of the [[Maximals]]. [[Rattrap]] answers Tigatron's call, and as soon as Tigatron mentions that he hasn't seen any [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] activity, [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] and [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] attack, their attacks causing Tigatron's communication console to collapse upon him as Rattrap listens. [[Optimus Primal]] heads out to rescue his comrade.

Tigatron, pushing the console off himself, continues to fight against his airborne assailants. A missile from Terrorsaur is detonated by a shot from Waspinator, tearing the ground into pieces and dropping Tigatron into a cloudy chasm. But when the two fliers follow Tigatron into the cloud to gather his remains as trophies, they are blasted by something unseen.

Primal eventually arrives at the site of the battle, and using Tigatron's communication console, radios to the [[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]] that Tigatron is missing, possibly destroyed.

[[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]], spying on the Predacon base, witnesses Waspinator and Terrorsaur return in poor condition. The two goons report to [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] what happened to them after they followed Tigatron.

Inside of the cloud Tigatron fell into, the two Predacons discovered Tigatron had landed on a massive [[Brigadoon|flying island]]. While trying to finish Tigatron, the two were blasted away by energy beams from a strange tower in the center of the island. Megatron sends the team of [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] to claim the island in the name of the Predacons.

Airazor reports to the Maximals her observation of the two Predacons, who were in much worse condition than they should be had they won the battle against Tigatron, which means the tiger could still be alive. [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] rushes in to follow up her report with news that Blackarachnia and Scorponok are leaving the Predacon base. Airazor is sent to follow the two.

In Beast Mode, Tigatron explores the island he's discovered, and is amazed at the flora and fauna on the isolated paradise. But, after passing a rock with strange markings, the island reveals some strange defenses against his presence. Tigatron decides to play it safe for the rest of his time in the strange area.

Outside of the cloud, Blackarachnia and Scorponok find the island. Scorponok explores the island with one of his [[cyberbee]]s, until Tigatron snatches the bee out of the air. The deceptive nature of the cloud confirmed, Blackarachnia fires a line into the cloud to board the island. As the line retracts, pulling up the two arachnids, Scorponok sees Airazor in pursuit. Using one of his rockets, he blasts her out of the sky. After Scorponok dodges the island's response to his attack, Blackarachnia resolves to take control of the island for herself.

Tigatron aids Airazor and explains to her that he reprogrammed the cyber bee to carry a message back to the Axalon. Soon, Primal recovers the bee and receives the message explaining how if the island's weapon is commandeered by either side, it would ensure victory….

===Animation and technical errors===
*It seems to take a very, VERY long time for the transmission tower to fall on Tigatron. There is at least a 20 second break between the Maximals losing his transmission and Optimus taking off to find him, after which Tigatron is still screaming as the tower ''finally'' falls on him.
*When Terrorsaur transforms during his flashback, his shoulder cannons float above him as he transforms, then reattach when he turns to robot mode.
*The trail of tiger footprints in the snow is a nice touch, but then Tigatron transforms and he's not leaving footprints any more.

== Terminator reference? ==

It is noted in the "Real-world references" section that Primal's manner of dealing with Waspinator is possibly a reference to Robocop. In the same manner, is it possible that the way he deals with Tarantulas is a reference to the Terminator reference? Tarantulas unleashes a huge salvo of ammunition on him as he walks down the halls of the Darksyde, but he continues walking (much like the scene in Terminator 2 where the T-800 deals with the SWAT team). Right before that, when Tarantulas shoots his harpoon, and Primal catches it, he wags his finger at him as well (much like the T-1000 does to Sarah near the end of Terminator 2- although Primal waved it sort of back and forth, and the T-1000, side to side). Just a thought. Is this possible?
