While some may see ordinary civilian traffic as an obstacle, the speedy Backfire has mastered the art of using it to his advantage. Moving vehicles are no different from stationary ones to him as he scours the roads for the elusive Oil Pan.
Created to fill Saturday morning and weekday afternoon airtime on the fledgling The WB television network, Kids' WB combined its existing hit shows (such as Animaniacs) with new shows produced both in-house and by other companies. The merger of parent companies Time Warner Inc. and the Turner Broadcasting System in 1996, resulted in Kids' WB and Cartoon Network sharing various programming. This alliance would last until Kids' WB was shifted from The WB to The CW.
Transformers: Cybertron was one of the many shared programs and one of the last to air on the Kids' WB afternoon programming block. Dubbed the Kids' WB AfterToons Show, the block would first air Transformers: Cybertron on September 19, 2005. In addition to being Cybertrons broadcast debut, it was also the first time that the series' first episode, "Fallen", had aired in the U.S. The second episode of Cybertron, "Haven", would see its U.S. debut the next day. The show was shifted back to Cartoon Network after the AfterToons Show block was discontinued on December 30, 2005.
Kids' WB's remaining Saturday morning block aired in an expanded format on the new The CW television network from the network's inception until May 18, 2008. The Saturday morning airtime would be turned over to 4Kids Entertainment, with The CW's parent companies citing cable competition and advertising limits as the reasons for shutting down Kids' WB.
Transforming into an exceptionally fast and powerful armored truck, Payload is the one the Decepticons rely on to procure the money and energy they need to function on Earth. Whatever they need, whereever they need it, in their quest for the All Spark it's Payload's job to get it to them, even if he has to smash right through Autobot lines to do it.

Both the Autobot and Decepticon armies make use of drones based on his design, which are heavily-armored, brutal melee fighters.
Payload himself was back on Cybertron, under the command of Dreadwing. When Starscream returned with the knowledge to build a new All Spark, Class Beta drones were among those assigned to guard the Autobot slaves who were being forced to build the new Cube. They brutally punished Warpath when he saw to the exhausted Grindcore. Later, after the new All Spark was completed, Payload arrived leading a team of drones carrying the massive generators required to drain the life force out of the Autobot prisoners and put it into the Cube. ===Transformers: The Game (console)===
Payloads show up in Mission City to put the hurt on both Autobot and Decepticon alike. Their primary attack is an unstoppable running charge that can send even the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron reeling. The only way to break them out of this attack is to nail them with a thrown object or melee attack when they briefly pause between charges.
Payloads also appear in the bonus Cybertron levels on both sides.
: Payload transforms into a Bulldog II Armored Truck model based on the Decepticon-drone coloration and face type. In robot mode, his midsection has a large push-out grabber-claw that extends waaaaaaaaaaaaay far out. However, in order to do this, the claw-shaft sticks far out of his back in robot mode, making posing and display in narrow spaces difficult. It also makes him hard to balance.

: Several pieces on Payload tend to pop off easily: his brush guard, midriff-plate/claw-center, and even his upper shoulder/head assembly. The mold was later retooled to include larger pegs for the shoulder/head assembly and an added tab on the brushguard, to connect to the new slot in the claw plunger. While this was intended to give the pieces a better fit, it actually puts more pressure on the parts and causes them to pop off even more easily. The chest piece, however, fits fairly well on either version but is still easy to remove.

: Payload had a tendency to sit on shelves for weeks, with some examples of end displays filled completely with Payload figures. This has led to some fans affectionately renaming him as Pegload.
Rhinox
:Rhinox is a Maximal (and occasionally a Predacon or Vehicon) in the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Cheetor was on the mark when he said that Rhinox was the best of them. He's a Renaissance Bot. Intelligent, massive, strong, and stalwart, there are few Maximals one could depend on more. Rhinox is of a rare breed -- he's incredibly tech savvy, but mystically-inclined... without coming off as a burnt-out technohippie. He's quick and decisive in a crisis, with spectacular results, but is slow and steady. He loves to sniff the flowers. A behind-the-scenes charismatic and an on-his-feet strategist, he could lead the Maximals if he wanted to, but he doesn't.

If he sounds too good to be true, it's because he just might be. At times he can be borderline obsessive and single-minded. The Maximals are glad he's on their side, because if he ever had a change of heart, woe be to them. No, woe be to the galaxy.

Still, you can't help but love a bot who can fight Megatron to a standstill without breaking a sweat yet would rather take a nap in a patch of daisies. Rhinox considers Rattrap to be his best friend, though he also has a close friendship with Optimus Primal. He appears to have some "older sibling/parental" emotions toward Airazor due to his role in bringing her online.

Rhinox's only weapons—besides his rather intimidating strength—are his twin chainguns, affectionately named "Chainguns of Doom" by the fans.

Rhinox's core was an integral part of the evil Vehicon general Tankor.
:Voice actor: Richard Newman (English), Daiki Nakamura (Japanese), Felipe D'inardo (Portuguese)

Rhinox was a crewmember of the exploration ship Axalon when captain Optimus Primal got word that the Predacon criminal Megatron had stolen the Golden Disk and a ship with transwarp capabilities. The Axalon was the closest vessel that also possessed a transwarp drive, so Rhinox's ship was sent to engage them. After following the Predacons through a transwarp portal and appearing above a mysterious planet, both ships were damaged in the ensuing space battle, and before both ships crashed into the planet's surface below, the stasis pods carrying the rest of Rhinox's crew were ejected into orbit.

The planet was rich with energon — so much so that prolonged exposure would short out their bodies, so the Maximals and Predacons were forced to take organic forms from the
local creatures. Rhinox took the form of a rhinoceros. Beast Wars (Part 1)

When Optimus Primal was dematerialized and absorbed by a mysterious alien probe, Rhinox was forced to juryrig a gizmo to extract Optimus' molecular structure from the probe and reconstruct it. Whether or not this device would actually have worked is unknown, as shortly before he had a chance to use it, Rhinox blasted Waspinator with his chainguns (beginning the running gag of Waspinator being scrapped in every episode), and the wounded Predacon somehow accidentally triggered the Standing Stones construct, which then rematerialized Optimus on its own. Chain of Command

Rhinox later developed Sentinel, a hi-tech security system for the Axalon, which unfortunately went berserk when its control panel was damaged in a struggle between Dinobot and Rattrap. Rattrap however, was able to infiltrate the now-heavily guarded ship
and deactivate Sentinel, which was then repaired and made fully-functional by Rhinox. A Better Mousetrap

Sometime later, when the Maximals found themselves cornered by a Predacon ambush, Rhinox was able to take out their attackers with a carefully aimed spray of chaingun fire. Megatron was so impressed that he decided to make Rhinox a member of his merry band of thieves, by force. Rhinox was captured by Tarantulas and then reprogrammed into a Predacon by a device designed by Megatron called a "Transmuter". However, the newly malevolent Rhinox proved to be too much for Megatron to handle, as Optimus Primal had correctly predicted. He quickly dispatched most of the Predacons, working his way up to Megs himself in an attempted coup. Rhinox very nearly succeeded, but fortunately, Megatron was able to revert him back into a Maximal using the Transmuter, and Rhinox escaped to rejoin his Maximal comrades and smell some flowers. Dark Designs (episode)

Later, a stasis pod crash landed in a barren wasteland. Rhinox intercepted it and, with Cheetor's help, managed to save the protoform Maximal's spark. The protoform then became Airazor, who repaid the favor by saving the weakened Rhinox from Terrorsaur. The Spark

When Scorponok detonated a pile of energon near a group of Maximals, rendering them blind, it was Rhinox who led the group on the dangerous trek back to the Axalon, teaching them how to use their other senses. Of course, they succeeded, and afterwards, Rhinox again went off to smell some flowers. Dark Voyage

Later, Tarantulas infected Rhinox with an energon discharge virus, which made him expel his energon reserves via his nasal passages in bursts powerful enough to tear through the hull of the Axalon,
threatening both to destroy the Maximals' base and completely drain Rhinox of energy. Rattrap and Dinobot were dispatched to acquire a countervirus, while Rhinox ate some wild bean vines to keep his
strength up. When the bickering duo nearly failed in their mission, the other Maximals, including Rhinox, showed up, and the rhinoceros blew away the Predacons with a massive energon... *ahem* "derriere-based"... discharge which was caused by his ingestion of wild beans. Megatron would remember this moment as the most humiliating defeat in his entire career. Rhinox was later cured by the countervirus via a Cybertronic beer hat. The Low Road

During the Planet Buster crisis, Rhinox was heavily damaged by Tarantulas and Blackarachnia when they infiltrated the Axalon, forcing him to spend the remainder of the crisis in a CR chamber, thereby preventing him from being upgrade into a Transmetal by the quantum surge. Other Voices, Part 2
Once Rhinox was fully repaired, he initiated a dangerous plan to bring the recently-deceased Optimus Primal back to life by using the hole in space-time caused by the destruction of the Planet Buster to astrally project his spark into the Matrix, where he followed the transion left by Primal's spark and led it back to the land of the living, where it was reborn as Transmetal Optimus Primal. Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)

When Blackarachnia's attempts to become a Transmetal caused her shell program to deteriorate, threatening to erase her core consciousness, Rhinox carried out a very delicate procedure to surgically remove the shell program directly. Unfortunately, certain failsafes installed by Tarantulas, combined with a Predacon attack, caused the operation to fail. Fortunately, Blackarachnia was mysteriously resurrected anyway by the Transmetal driver. Crossing the Rubicon

After Megatron raised the Nemesis, Rhinox was ordered by Optimus Primal to execute Operation: Eternity, which apparently only Primal and he knew about. The purpose of the operation was to "move the Ark" by activating its engines and taking off; little is know beyond that, because the Maximals failed when the Ark's engines proved beyond repair. However, Dinobot II downloaded emergency data to the Ark about an Autobot shuttle hidden within the Ark. Rhinox piloted the shuttle and flew it directly into the bridge of the Nemesis, taking down Megatron and causing the warship to spiral out of control and crash somewhere beyond the horizon. Thus, the Beast Wars were won. Rhinox and the other Maximals left prehistoric Earth aboard the aforementioned Autobot shuttle and began the voyage home to Cybertron. Nemesis Part 2
Seeing an opening, Blackarachnia infiltrated the base and effortlessly took out Rattrap and Airazor. Rhinox proceeded to pull out a strange "gun", but instead of pointing it at her, he pointed it at himself and proceeded to "blow his brains out". With the job well done, Blackarachnia left the base as it exploded.

As it turned out, the "gun" was part of Rhinox's machine, which was being kept safe from the explosion (along with Rattrap and Airazor) by a small force field. The "gun" allowed Rhinox to travel into Transwarp space, where he found the spark of Optimus Primal, about to move on to his deathly reward. Reminding Primal of his duty to his Maximals, he helped Primal's spark escape Transwarp space and return to his body, turning it into a Transmetal. Raise the Curtain for Beast Wars Metals!!

: Rhinox transforms into a tan rhinoceros. In robot mode, his primary weapon is a spinning blade-gun/double mace-thing/lawn edge trimmer, though the television series liberally interpreted this weapon as a sort of Gatling gun (the aforementioned "Chaingun of Doom"). His tail also detaches to become a blade.

: The two panels mounted on either side of his head close together to form his 'mutant' battle mask.

: The Takara release of Rhinox added a thick layer of gray paint to the beast-mode parts that faded to reveal the original tan towards the lower body as well as black eyes. Why is uncertain, as this made him even less like his show coloration. The Japanese version featured a running change where the tan plastic was replaced with brown.

: For the Transmetals line of Beast Wars toys, Rhinox now transforms into a robotic rhinoceros. The rhino mode has fold-down skis in the front legs and tank treads in the rear legs so he can become a kind of snowmobile. In robot mode, armed with only his blade, now formed out of his beast mode horn.

: In the Hasbro line, early releases of the toy had a much paler aqua-colored chrome than later versions. Such chrome differences were seemingly common among the Transmetals, but the pale/rich-chrome Rhinoxes seem to be the most common and most likely intentional change.

: The Takara release of Transmetal Rhinox has gold chrome instead of the aqua-blue and replaces the "RHINOX" tampograph with "CYBERTRON" and the Maximal faction sigil.

: Part of the first wave of "Fox Kids" redecoes, and exclusive to Toys "R" Us stores, this toy uses the original Rhinox mold in off-white and dark burgundy. Hasbro documents listed this toy as "Energon Surge Rhinox", a name that never made it to the final package.

: Part of the last year of mass-retail Beast Wars product (sold concurrently with the early releases of Beast Machines), the Transmetal mold also got a "Fox Kids" redeco in mainly blue and gray—an interesting color choice, given that those are the show colors of Tankor, whom Rhinox would become. His chrome color was a pale green.
* Beast Wars (Fast food premium, 2001)

: Available only as part of a Hasbro-brand-names fast food promotion (which included miniature versions of other Hasbro properties like Mr. Potato Head), and labeled simply as "Beast Wars", this toy is an extremely simplified version of the Transmetal Rhinox toy, available only at participating Rally's and Checkers restaurants.

: Despite it being... well, look at it... it goes for mad money on the secondary market. Most people didn't realize the promotion even existed until after it was over, and the restaurant chain was fairly small and somewhat regional.

: For the 10th Anniversary of Beast Wars, Hasbro redecoed the original 1996 Rhinox toy in more show-accurate colours, giving him a darker beast mode colour scheme, and painted gold details on his robot mode head, to more closely match the CGI model. They also tampographed a Maximal sigil on his beast mode's right foreleg.

: Also included was the lower torso and right leg to Transmutate, and a DVD of the Beast Wars epsiode "The Spark".
He transforms into a front-end loader, with pop-out blades in his rear tires that are revealed with the use of a Cyber Planet Key (or his Golden Disk Key, of course). This gimmick and his spring-loaded missile launcher are usable in both modes.

: This set also included "Axalon" versions of Optimus Primal, Cheetor, Rattrap, and "Darksyde" Dinobot.

Over the years, Transformers has found itself in several fast food promotions, mainly McDonald's.

1985 St. Louis The Transformers McDonald's promotion
In 1985, McDonald's gave away non-transforming figurines of four Mini Vehicle characters, with at least six different color variations for each character. The figures were made of two different colors of plastic, and were non-poseable. These figures were only available in St. Louis as a test run. The line included:

* Gears
* Brawn
* Cliffjumper
* Bumblebee

Dairy Queen Generation 2 promotion
In conjunction with Generation 2, Dairy Queen gave away a non-transforming Optimus Prime figure with its "Kids' Pick-Nick Meals".

1996 North American Beast Wars McDonald's promotion
In 1996 for Beast Wars, McDonald's released four transforming toys, with names very, very accurate to their beast modes. Another toy was sold to the under-3 crowd, as clearly indicated by his name.

*Beetle
*Manta Ray
*Panther

1998 North American Beast Wars Transmetals McDonald's promotion
In 1998, to coincide with the Transmetals subline and the second season of Beast Wars, McDonald's Happy Meals featured three characters from the show who did not get Transmetal toys in the retail line.
*Dinobot

2000 North American Beast Machines McDonald's promotion
For Beast Machines, McDonald's put nine different toys into their Happy Meals, representing the characters from the first season.

Well after Beast Wars proper had ended, regional chain Rally's/Checkers sold a not-very-good Rhinox toy, as part of a broader Hasbro/Kenner promotion.

2002 North American Armada McDonald's promotion
With Armada out in 2002, McDonald's released eight toys to represent select characters from the cartoon. The Decepticon toys could combine into a mega vehicle, while the Autobots could combine into a tall... "totem-pole" robot form. The toys could act as Mini-Cons to larger, retail-sale toys, and are also capable of having Mini-Con toys attached to them.
In 2004, McDonald's locations in various parts of Europe released four Energon-based Happy Meal toys. These toys were united by a common gimmick of interchangeable light-up "energon cube" accessories.
Payload (who now turns into a tank) is a core member of Starscream's Decepticon team and fights in several battles in Africa. He tried to destroy a dam while Macerator and Starscream held off the Autobots, but was briefly distracted by Ratchet, who he promptly slagged. He was unprepared for the military opening up the floodgates however, and was washed away in the ensuing torrent. His ultimate fate is unknown.
Payload units of both sides have a strong defense, good attack, but poor speed. They are differentiated by little more than the make of their noggins; Autobot versions use a facemask-with-optics model, while Decepticons have a circular lens-face. Battle for the Allspark

Transformers: The Game (console)
Payloads show up in Mission City to put the hurt on both Autobot and Decepticon alike. Their primary attack is an unstoppable running charge that can send even the likes of Optimus Prime and Megatron reeling. The only way to break them out of this attack is to nail them with a thrown object or melee attack when they briefly pause between charges.

Payloads also appear in the bonus Cybertron levels on both sides.

Aside from the aforementioned head differences, Decepticon Payloads are dark blue, while the Autobot versions are silver-white. Transformers The Game (console)
Payload's body frame has been shown in numerous forms: his Armored Truck mode, the Peace Van, the Moving Truck, the School Bus, the Ice Cream Truck, the Death Truck, the Funky Bus, the SWAT Van, and the Prison Bus. Certain forms have either the Autobot head or the Decepticon head, but which game is unimportant; the same vehicle has the same head in both games. Transformers Autobots/Decepticons

In real life the Beagle 2 craft had a lander but not a rover, it wasn't a NASA project, the guy counting in the trailer should have been speaking German, and we can't get live streaming video from Mars.
:Megatron is a Decepticon from the Movie continuity family. He is often refered to as Lord Megatron. Known to humans as both "The Ice Man" and "The Mega-Man" and more formally as N.B.E. - 1

The brother of Optimus Prime as well as former Lord High Protector and co-ruler of Cybertron, Megatron is vicious and extremely powerful, single-minded in his goals, straight forward and brutally direct in his attempts to seize those goals. He is all "blunt force" in contrast to Starscream's penchant for deceit and trickery. On the downside, Megatron tends to become so obsessed with the object of his desires that he can ignore "secondary" matters and glaring flaws in his plans (otherwise, he likely wouldn't have melted into ice-cold arctic water after being white hot from re-entry and spent millions of years as a popsicle).

While some merely dislike or disregard organics, Megatron feels a violent hatred towards them and seems to view them as only slightly above a virus, with him as the cure. If there was no Allspark, it is not that big a stretch to think he'd have come here anyway, just to cleanse one more planet of its infection.

Megatron once ruled Cybertron side-by-side with Optimus Prime. For generations, the two ruled in peace. Megatron was firm, but Prime was fair, creating a nice, even balance. Sadly, he got a jonesing for the All Spark and the war started. When Bumblebee stalled him long enough for it to be launched into space, he tore off Bumblebee's arm and crushed his voice box (but in the friendliest way). He then took off into space after the All Spark, eventually pulling a Skyfire.
Megatron followed the Allspark to Earth, where he successfully crash-landed in the Arctic Circle and was frozen solid for thousands of years. In 1897, some 100 Earth-years before the arrival of the other Transformers, he was discovered by an explorer named Archibald Amundsen Witwicky. Captain Witwicky accidentally activated Megatron's navigation system and caused the coordinates of the Allspark to be etched onto the explorer's glasses. Megatron remained imprisoned in the Arctic, until the 1930s, when he was dug out by the United States government moved to a secret Sector Seven stronghold inside Hoover Dam.

In the present day, having searched the galaxy for the Allspark and being drawn to Earth, the remaining Decepticons learn of Witwicky's glasses. Through the internet, they determined the location of both Megatron and the Allspark inside Hoover Dam. Frenzy infiltrated the dam and shut down the power systems, while Starscream attacked the external powerlines, resulting in Megatron's thawing out. Megatron declared his name before jetting off after the Allspark again. He chased a particular human who removed the Allspark from the dam. Unfortunately, this human was protected by Optimus Prime. The two brothers engaged in a vicious battle, but were evenly-matched. Prime ordered Sam to ram the All Spark into his chest, but the human rammed the Allspark into Megatron's chest, extinguishing his spark.

Megatron's body was dumped into the ocean at its deepest point, along with the remains of the other Decepticons.
*Megatron (Leader, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MD-07

: Leader class Movie Megatron transforms into a silver Cybertronic assault jet. He is quite accurate to the CGI design... except for the giant mass of legs attempting (but failing) to hide under the wings.

: In robot mode, Megatron's sculpt is quite accurate, or as accurate as a toy based on his CG design can be. However, his paint decoration is quite inaccurate, with blue highlights on various parts of his body, possibly to allude to his pre-frozen state and to give a relatively monochromatic figure more color. More confusing is his jet black face, which obscures the sculpt's details and is inaccurate to the movie appearance's gunmetal.

: Megatron's right fist disconnects at the wrist to become the spiked end of the extendable "chain whip" weapon concealed within his forearm (perhaps in homage to G1 Megatron's own flail weapon); pressing the black switch on the arm pulls the chain taut for a whipping attack. His arms also link together at the wrists to form a "fusion cannon," with the pod on his left forearm concealing the weapon's Automorphing twin barrels, exposed by pulling a switch. His other automorph features include his wings folding up as his vehicle nosecone is moved into place, and his feet unfolding as his knees are straightened. Finally, pressing the button on his waist activates a small friction motor, which moves various torso plates and blades on his back into place, accompanied by a metallic shrieking sound and flashing yellow lights.

:Megatron's instructions summarily fail to actually tell the reader about how his gimmicks work. The whipping-action black switch for his flail is not mentioned; they do not detail how to connect the arms for fusion cannon mode; and the fact that the cannon is on a slider, allowing it to be centre-aligned, rather than sitting off to one side, is also omitted.

: There is a significant assembly error in Megatron's arms: The right fist is supposed to launch out of the right arm, while the left arm fusion cannon is supposed to slide into position normally without requiring the user to hold it in position. However, the spring for the launching mechanism was placed in his left arm instead of his right arm, which essentially neuters the gimmicks of both arms. By switching the spring from the left arm to his right arm, the right fist should now launch properly and the left arm cannon should now Automorph correctly.

: There is also an error in Megatron's legs, in that his left and right hip joints have been swapped for reasons unknown. Switching them allows for a slightly smoother transformation.

: Geez, Hasbro.
*Megatron (Legends, 2007)

:Legends class Megatron is the smallest mainline Movie Megatron toy, and boy does it show. Even with Megatron's relatively simple transformation sequence, the sheer simplicity of the Legends class toy means that in vehicle mode he is basically his robot mode splayed out, and again, boy is it obvious. His robot mode is passably accurate, if by accurate one means he is now a hunchback with wings for legs and Dustbusters for hands.

*Megatron (Voyager, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MD-14

:Voyager class Megatron transforms into an ice-covered version of his cybertronic jet, with transparent blue plastic forming large portions of his vehicle mode, such as parts of his wings. This ice design is carried onto his robot mode, with his legs, shoulders and chest having some kind of 'ice' plastic covering them. With a significantly different transformation sequence compared to his earlier Leader class toy, his chest frost lowers and his shoulders raise to robot mode position when you bring his lower body forward thanks to Automorph technology. He also has his fusion cannon in its entirety on his left arm. His wings feature flip-out "ice blade", and pulling on a piece in the back of his jet mode brings them forward like pincer claws.

:Something interesting to note is that his feet are entirely spring-loaded, which means his foot and the two "rear toes" on each feet automatically close up when he's not standing up. Surprisingly, this helps a lot with the posing as the feet's parts automatically position themselves for the perfect balance.
