There is some fine print. Whoever happens to be in charge, whether a benevolent or malevolent force, in his reasoning, ''is'' Cybertron. Once power changes hands, so does he. He is loyal only to the planet, and perhaps his consort Strika, not to any moral ideals. As his fellow [[Vehicon general]] [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]] has remarked, "If you're loyal to everybody, can you really be loyal to anybody?"... a question that has given Obsidian pause.

While he was pretending to be dumber even than [[Tankor (BM)|Tankor]], his [[activation code]] (and, indeed, his entire vocabulary) was "obliterate". He dropped the word when the ruse was over.

In an alternate universe, Obsidian was a former [[Autobot]] who rose to overthrow [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] and take over Cybertron, only to be abducted by [[Unicron]] to serve as his [[Minion of Unicron|Minion]].

Tired of the Maximals using his world as a playground and getting fed up with Thrust's inability to handle them, Megatron selected two Sparks to be his new generals. When Thrust first saw Obsidian and Strika, he remarked "Very nice, boss. Very very nice." However, the feeling wasn't mutual, as Thrust discovered when he started to inform the new guys of their enemies—and was batted away by Obsidian, bouncing off the wall and sliding to a halt at his "feet".

Obsidian was quick to act against the Maximals, ambushing [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] and [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]] with Strika. Screaming "Obliterate!" repeatedly, he pursued Silverbolt but was tackled by [[Optimus Primal]], sending both crashing into the ground. When Optimus tried to reason with him, Obsidian merely fired at him and transformed, escaping into the city. He rendezvoused with Strika and let the Maximals into a trap, as hundred of drones modeled after the two generals surrounded them. Transforming to robot mode, Obsidian remarked "Although he took his name from a great leader, Optimus Primal never learned the first rule of warfare: NEVER underestimate your opponent." The Maximals were able to escape the trap, but found all of their escape routes blocked by drones, [[Rattrap]] surprised at the number of drones and Optimus realizing that it wasn't number but tactics; their new opponents were master strategists. Forced to barricade themselves inside the Counsel Citadel, Primal realized that they had been herded there, at which point Obsidian contacted him and offered the Maximals the chance to surrender themselves. Revealing who he and Strika were, Obsidian informed Optimus that "Megatron IS Cybertron. To defend one is to defend the other. And to betray Megatron is to invite death." Despite their advantage, Obsidian and Strika were unable to capture the Maximals due to [[Botanica (BM)|Botanica]]'s timely arrival, disrupting the drones' targeting systems and allowing the Maximals to escape. {{storylink|Sparkwar Pt. Obsidian's next major move was against [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]], [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] and Silverbolt. Sent to a shell yard by Megatron and told to wait for the Maximals (as Megatron had sent Optimus a flash about the Sparks and their possible locations, which of course was a trap), Obsidian attacked the trio, outgunning and outflanking them easily. However, a power core thrown by Cheetor was hit by a shot from one of Obsidian's drones even as he was desperately telling them to cease fire, causing a huge explosion that sent him and his drones flying away in a fiery shockwave. {{storylink|Sparkwar Pt. When Megatron began to enact his plan for the Sparks, Obsidian and Strika were stationed to watch over the ground and air around the BFH. While he didn't get to do much personally, Obsidian attempted to engage Savage/Noble in single combat, only to have one of his own drones smacked into him and then Strika thrown into him. After Megatron's seeming destruction, the generals were at a loss. Without a leader they had no purpose, and when Cheetor and Nightscream approached them with an offer to join the Maximals they accepted, much to Thrust's annoyance: he snarled at Obsidian that if he was loyal to ''everyone'', he was loyal to no one.. A possessed Jet Drone suddenly attacked both the generals and the Maximals, destroying the drones that were present. Obsidian and Strika did not join Cheetor and Nightscream in the fight against the Jet Drone (wusses). Later, Optimus welcomed the two to the group and sent them to patrol the inside of the [[Grand Mal]], where they unsuccessfully tried to stop Megatron's depolarized Spark from entering. After Megatron was re-polarized and bonded to a Diagnostic Drone, Obsidian and Strika seized him and made their escape, pledging their loyalty to evil once again. The conflict came to a head when Megatron began an all-out attack on his former base, seeking to reclaim the Sparks. Obsidian fell victim to Rattrap's identity scrambler, destroying several of his own troops before realizing his mistake. He later returned to his main fleet that was attacking the BFH, but they were unable to penetrate the shields. That changed when Megatron found a device Rattrap used to send Botanica back to the surface—a shield harmonic device synchronized to the base's shields. Obsidian and Strika were then able to fire through the shields and destroy the base's drive units, sending it plummeting into the Citadel. {{storylink|Endgame Pt. I: The Downward Spiral}}

After repairing and placing his troops, Obsidian began a second attack on the Grand Mal with Strika and Thrust. Taking down the shields and defeating several Maximals, the trio were left with only Cheetor in their way. However, the Maximal led them into the engine room, where he brought the anti-gravity generators online and sent Obsidian and Strika into Cybertron's orbit. {{storylink|Endgame Pt. In a parallel universe, the Predacon Megatron "decimated" Cybertron's population by capturing their [[Spark|sparks]], including the vaunted Autobot general Obsidian. (It is unknown whether this literally means he only got one-tenth of the Cybertronians.) When Megatron gave him a new, helicopter-based body, Obsidian hid his thirst for revenge behind a feigned loyalty. He conspired with the brute Tankor, eventually using the latter's raw strength to carry out Megatron's termination. The vain Obsidian, now an "ex-Autobot," supplanted the Predacon's rule with an iron-fisted tyranny of his own. With his enforcer Tankor at his side, he put down uprisings and held the planet in fear... until Unicron decided that such a mindset would serve his own purposes, and he pulled them out of their universe entirely.{{storylink|Escape (Universe)|Obsidian's ''Universe'' profile}}

Unicron, his ruined form trapped between dimensions, sought to revitalize himself by pitting abducted [[Transformer|Transformers]] against each other within his own body, absorbing their [[energon radiation]] and, eventually, sparks. But Obsidian was spared this fate, instead overseeing the [[Cauldron|deathmatch arena]] along with Tankor, Razorclaw, Reptilion, and [[Striker]]. [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]], one of the intended victims, recognized Obsidian. Obsidian confirmed the familiarity, but noted that in his and Tankor's own timeline, Silverbolt had "[[Furmanism|died screaming]]". {{storylink|Abduction}} (Notably, by this time Obsidian's allegiance had fully switched to "Decepticon", {{storylink|Escape (Universe)|Tankor's ''Universe'' profile}} though it's unclear if this was before or after his coming under the thrall of Unicron.)

Two others from Silverbolt's party, [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]] and [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]], were scheduled for an immediate duel within the Cauldron, and Obsidian tossed them their weapons. Sideswipe tried to turn on his captor, but his punch was repelled by Reptilion's machinery. As Sideswipe was punished, Obsidian reassured them that over time, all "remaining veneer of civilisation" would be stripped from them. For all his boasting and accomplishments, though, Obsidian still did a pretty crappy job of keeping [[Optimus Primal]] from freeing Silverbolt and dozens of other captives. He was nowhere to be seen as Optimus Primal battled Razorclaw, and showed up to pursue the fleeing captives, along with the other generals, only after they had left the Cauldron.

However, [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] and [[Shadow Striker (Universe)|Shadow Striker]] opted to stay behind with the generals, as [[Unicron virus|Unicron's influence]] had corrupted them. '''Thrust''' was one of the first of [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]'s [[Vehicon general|Vehicon generals]] to be created, and was the last one to stand against the [[Maximal|Maximals]]. Commander of the [[Motorcycle Drone|Cycle Drones]], he is dark, cold, brooding and is absolutely devoted to Megatron's goals, even though he knows what it means in the end for him. He is almost completely fearless, says ''exactly'' what is on his mind (he had the lugnuts to tell Megatron just how dumb his plan of using Maximal sparks to power the other two Vehicon Generals was), and takes a delight in tormenting his foes both physically and psychologically.

Oddly, despite initial back-stabbing, he grew to consider his fellow General [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]] a friend, which developed into a white-hot hatred when Jetstorm was reverted into the Maximal [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]]. He refused to even call Silverbolt by his name, calling him "Jetstorm" and "traitor".

Thrust's personality and mind is in fact a shell program powered by the [[spark]] of the [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]]. Despite this, Thrust has virtually no similarities to Waspinator, and the Predacon is ''very'' happy to be in the cool "biker-bot", even if only as a power source.

His [[Activation code|Command Code]] is "overdrive," although in one anomalous instance, he used the phrase "accelerate."

Thrust can be distinguished from his drones by his size and yellow markings.

Later, during a battle between the Maximals and Vehicons, Thrust saved the life of Blackarachnia, though quickly wondered why. The two wandered into a spark extraction facility, where a massive [[spark extractor]] attempted to extract their sparks. Thrust again saved Blackarachnia, and was in turn saved by her. Thrust began having flashbacks to the time when his spark was first extracted, but was interrupted by the sudden arrival of the other Maximals before he could remember anything. {{storylink|Revelations Part I: Discovery}}

After that, he and Jetstorm were attacked by Blackarachnia and Nightscream while Cheetor and Rattrap worked to reawaken Tankor's Maximal spark. Blackarachnia, convinced that Thrust was carrying [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt's]] spark, tried to help him remember their past, which resulted in Thrust having more flashbacks, this time to the time he spent on Earth. However, before he could remember his previous identity, Jetstorm attacked and accused him of betrayal. Thrust claimed he was just trying to stall Blackarachnia; Jetstorm, unconvinced, ordered Thrust to prove his loyalty to Megatron by extracting Blackarachnia's spark. He grudgingly agreed to this, but was interrupted by Nightscream. Unfortunately, Blackarachnia's spark was extracted anyway, by Jetstorm. {{storylink|Revelations Part II: Descent}} Thrust picked up Blackarachnia's body and pursued Jetstorm. After an altercation with Nightscream, who had recovered Blackarachnia's spark in the meantime, Thrust fled, leaving Blackarachnia to be re-ensparked by Nightscream. {{storylink|Revelations Part III: Apocalypse}}

After that, he was sent with Jetstorm and Tankor to apprehend Nightscream as part of an attempt to remove Megatron's organic components. Nightscream escaped and Thrust and Jetstorm pursued him, but were defeated by Nightscream's sonic scream. {{storylink|Survivor}} Shortly thereafter, while on a wild goose chase courtesy of Tankor, Thrust was exposed to [[organic goo]] courtesy of Blackarachnia, which caused him to revert to his Waspinator personality. After explaining how he returned to Cybertron, Waspinator was driven to rage when Blackarachnia spurned him. However, before he could cause any damage, he was zapped by a duplicate [[Key to Vector Sigma]], causing him to revert to his Thrust persona.

After this event, Thrust stopped trying to save Blackarachnia and she stopped trying to get him defect. No [[technorganic]] salvation for ''you'', Waspy! {{storylink|The Catalyst}}

Some time later, Optimus Primal used the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]] against Megatron's Keys to Vector Sigma, apparently destroying them both, along with Tankor. {{storylink|End of the Line}} With the war apparently over, Thrust and Jetstorm were invited to join the Maximals, but they instead decided to strike out on their own. Thrust got hostile at the idea of Jetstorm getting reformatted, deciding he viewed the general as a friend and didn't want to lose him. {{storylink|Fallout (episode)|Fallout}}. During this time, they were attacked by [[Noble|Savage]], an event which they initially blamed on the Maximals. They did temporarily team up with their old enemies against this new threat, but their insistence on attacking Savage and antagonising Noble earned them nothing more than a trashing. {{storylink|Savage Noble}} Thrust would go up against Savage once again when he and Jetstorm attempted to apprehend Nightscream. Savage, now free from Megatron's spark, gave Thrust a sound thrashing. He called out for Jetstorm, but unfortunately for him, Jetstorm had since been reformatted into Silverbolt, who pushed him over the edge of the cliff from which he was dangling. {{storylink|In Darkest Knight}} Thrust would subsequently reserve a special hatred for Silverbolt, seeing him as a traitor to the Vehicon cause.

Following the loss of Jetstorm, Megatron resurrected the [[Hate Plague]] and generated a variant which would apparently only affect [[technorganic]] life, and sicced it on the Maximals. Thrust led a group of Motorcycle Drones to eliminate them, but decided to conserve ammo by letting the Maximals destroy each other. However, the Maximals were able to overcome the effects of the virus and chased Thrust out. {{storylink|A Wolf in the Fold}}

After this, Thrust was apparently given command of the remaining Tank Drones and Sonic Jet Drones (even with the arrival of Obsidan and Strika, Thrust would have been the senior Vehicon General since he had served under Megatron for the longest amount of time, especially when you count his time as Waspinator). When a ship carrying a [[Botanica (BM)|strange plant being]] crashed on Cybertron, Megatron sent Thrust to recover it and its contents to avoid them falling into the hands of the Maximals. By judicious use of his drone army, Thrust was able to reach the ship first, but was knocked out by Optimus Primal before he could enter. He then chased the Maximals to the Oracle chamber, where Botanica had fled; upon reaching it, he deployed a huge number of Tank Drones to destroy both the Maximals and the trees, but they were all eliminated in one attack by the reformatted Botanica despite her not having a [[toy]].

Outnumbered, Thrust fled, telling Botanica she had made a big mistake. He complained to Megatron about the unfair situation, {{storylink|Home Soil}} prompting Megatron to resurrect [[Obsidian (BM)|Obsidian]] and [[Strika (BM)|Strika]]. Around this time, he apparently started reverting somewhat to Waspinator, as he was beaten up and damaged when he tried to stop the Maximals salvaging spare parts, by Obsidian when he tried to brief the new generals on the current situation, by Megatron when he attempted to rub Obsidian and Strika's faces in their recent failure to destroy the Maximals, {{storylink|Sparkwar Pt. I: The Strike}} by Savage when he led a force of Cycle Drones to pursue Optimus Primal and Nightscream to the ruins of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]], {{storylink|Sparkwar Pt. II: The Search}} and by the force of gravity when the [[Grand Mal]] crashed into Cybertron's surface. {{storylink|Sparkwar Pt. III: The Siege}}

Following Megatron's depolarization, Thrust again wandered Cybertron aimlessly. He encountered Obsidian and Strika, who were considering joining forces with the Maximals. Thrust asked how they could be truly loyal to anybody if they were loyal to everybody, and drove off. His words gave the other generals pause, and when Rattrap repolarized Megatron, inspired them to return to the side of villainy. Thrust encountered them again soon enough and tried to take command, only for Megatron to berate him for being useless and announce the final stage of his plan. Obsidian, however, stated that it was Thrust who had made him and Strika realise their loyalties lay with Megatron. {{storylink|Spark of Darkness}}

In the final battle, Thrust led a force of Cycle drones against the Maximals. Despite accidentally destroying several of his own drones and being attacked by Strika due to Rattrap's latest gadget, he led a large force to the Grand Mal, just in time to see it crash to Cybertron. {{storylink|Endgame Pt. I: The Downward Spiral}} Thrust personally took on Silverbolt, taunting him by calling him 'Jetstorm', and when he and Blackarachnia went down, Thrust, Strika, and Obsidian penetrated the Grand Mal.

Inside, Cheetor activated the anti-gravity generators, blasting Obsidian and Strika into orbit. Thrust, however, managed to avoid the field and engaged Cheetor personally. The two grappled for a while and, just as it looked like Thrust would win, Cheetor grabbed a [[spark extractor]] and removed Thrust's spark. {{storylink|Endgame Pt. II: When Legends Fall}} When Cybertron was reformatted, Waspinator got his spark back, but he was stuck with the body of a normal sized wasp with Thrust's head.
