'''Tidal Wave''' (sometimes '''Mirage''') is a colossal powerhouse, one of the largest Decepticons under [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]]'s command. His power is backed up by a brain that doesn't exactly run at optimal speeds; he's not so much stupid as he is single-minded and easily frustrated, although [[Pokeformers|his tendency to shout his own name repeatedly as a sort of battle cry]] doesn't do much to refute his reputation as a knucklehead. In battle he is merciless, an unyielding engine of destruction.

He is unquestionably loyal to Megatron and his ideals and will quickly sign up with anyone that promises power to the Decepticon cause. After leading the Decepticons to victory on the planet [[Dabola]], {{storylink|Awakening (Armada)|Awakening}} Tidal Wave was brought to [[Earth]] by the Decepticon strategist [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]] in an attempt to bolster [[Megatron (Armada)/Cartoon continuity|Megatron]]'s forces. He passed [[Neptune]] on his way to [[Earth]], {{storylink|Detection}} before coming upon the Autobots and Decepticons locked in a beachfront battle. Thrust's claims of Tidal Wave's prowess initially conflicted with the newcomer's... lack of grace. This was exemplified when [[Hot Shot (Armada)/Cartoon continuity|Hot Shot]] and [[Blurr (Armada)|Blurr]] capsized the huge warship and sent it to the bottom of the deep. However, Tidal Wave quickly recovered by transforming into his massively powerful [[robot mode]] and quickly sent the Autobots scrambling for cover. {{storylink|Awakening (Armada)|Awakening}}

Pounding the Autobots with firepower, Thrust called out to Tidal Wave to initiate his party piece. Tidal Wave transformed and split into three component vehicle sections (which somehow shrank in size), headed for Megatron and Powerlinxed with him, forming a combination known as ''Burning Megatron''. Megatron declared that "The Power is Mine!" before setting off in pursuit of Jet Optimus. Tidal Wave gave Megatron flight capability and an overwhelming amount of firepower which kept Jet Optimus at bay long enough for Megatron to slice the connection point between Optimus Prime and [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] with the Star Saber. However, Optimus Prime managed to obtain the [[Requiem Blaster (Armada)|Requiem Blaster]] and used it to injure both Tidal Wave and Megatron, forcing the Decepticons to retreat {{storylink|Desperate}} to the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]] for repairs. {{storylink|Runaway}}

Tidal Wave later participated in the Decepticons' operation to steal the Blaster. When the Decepticons learned the Autobots had not brought the super-weapon into the open, Megatron had Tidal Wave abandon Starscream on the battlefield and combined with him to attack the undermanned enemy headquarters. There, Megatron used the extra power Tidal Wave granted him to take the Requiem Blaster by force. {{storylink|Sacrifice}} After Starscream cracked and attacked Megatron, Tidal Wave was sent after him to Earth when the rogue Decepticon jet escaped their moon base with the Star Saber in his possession. The Autobots initially assumed both Decepticons were part of a combined attack, but eventually came to Starscream's assistance against Tidal Wave when the Decepticon shot him down. Hot Shot nailed Tidal Wave in the eye with his axle cannon but the powerful Tidal Wave recovered quickly and caused problems for Jet Optimus, who couldn't so much as scratch him. This prompted Starscream to toss the Star Saber to the Autobot leader which he used to slice off one of Tidal Wave's chest guns and forced the Decepticon to retreat again. {{storylink|Regeneration (Armada)|Regeneration}}

Tidal Wave was present when Starscream led the Autobots into the heart of the Decepticon base to liberate the captive Mini-Cons. He handily took down Side Swipe, then moved to the chamber where the [[Hydra Cannon]] was under construction to prevent the Mini-Cons from being lost to the Autobots. On the way, he encountered [[Perceptor (Armada)|Perceptor]] and Hot Shot, the latter of whom distracted him long enough for the former to penetrate deeper into the Decepticon base.

Though Hot Shot fought hard, Tidal Wave was simply too big and powerful for the young 'bot to defeat alone, so he fled to the construction room with Tidal Wave in hot pursuit. Tidal Wave arrived just in time to see the Mini-Cons flee with Perceptor. [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreen]] then arrived and the two fought for a while before the Autobots retreated, their objectives achieved. {{storylink|Rescue}}

Megatron then sent Tidal Wave to [[Mars (planet)|Mars]] as part of a trap for Starscream and Jetfire. He beat up Starscream in the sky, but lost him in a dust storm. He encountered both the Autobots, as well as their Mini-Cons, shortly thereafter in orbit where they had located [[Firebot (Armada)|Firebot]]. Megatron and Thrust arrived to help him at this point, but all three were forced back when the three Mini-Con weapons reacted to their close proximity, and unleashed a powerful wave of energy. {{storylink|Mars (episode)|Mars}}

Tidal Wave participated in the attack during which Starscream returned to the Decepticons, bringing the Star Saber and Skyboom Shield with him. Once again, he fought Hot Shot and Jet Optimus. {{storylink|Crack (episode)|Crack}} When Optimus Prime and Jetfire arrived to stop the Decepticon ship from unleashing the power of the [[Hydra Cannon]] against Earth, Tidal Wave was able to use cloaking technology to sneak up on the Autobot leader. He then proceeded to pin down Optimus, only for Jetfire to throw Starscream at him, allowing Optimus to wrestle free from his grasp. After that, Tidal Wave was assigned a squad to Decepticons and sent to clear an area of Autobots. He engaged Jetfire during this time, calling the Autobot a "show-off". {{storylink|Portent}} He again combined with Megatron when the Decepticon leader decided to approach Optimus Prime for some... aggressive negotiations. Jetfire managed to keep him occupied single-handedly during this time. {{storylink|Cramp}}

Tidal Wave attended the meeting during which the Autobots and Decepticons formed a temporary truce to combat the menace of [[Unicron]], notably shaking hands with Jetfire. {{storylink|Alliance}} After this, he combined with Galvatron in order to kill the traitorous Thrust, and then, with the similarly combined Optimus Prime and Jetfire, helped his commander penetrate deep into the core of Unicron, while he doubled back to keep the titan occupied. {{storylink|Union}} Though Tidal Wave participated on the final assault on Unicron, his efforts proved unnecessary; once Galvatron sacrificed himself to the dark god, there was no longer enough hatred in the universe to sustain Unicron, and he vanished from existence. After the end of the Unicron Battles, Tidal Wave loyally followed Galvatron's last request—that the Decepticons remain at peace with the Autobots. During the ten-year period that followed, Tidal Wave somewhere along the line changed not only his color palette but also his occupation—instead of being a warrior, he was now a guardian of the [[energon]] mines in the Solar System's asteroid belt.

Tidal Wave's post was one of the first targets of the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]] hordes. {{storylink|Cybertron City (episode)|Cybertron City}} After being attacked and abducted, {{storylink|Energon Stars}} he was brought to [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] and [[Alpha Quintesson]]'s base of operations where they convinced him to side with them by promising to revive Megatron, a deal which Tidal Wave eagerly agreed to despite clearly disliking Scorponok. He began by attacking the energon-mining facility at Desert City and managed to obtain a large amount of energon before being driven back by the Autobots. He attempted to retrieve a dropped raw energon star from one of the fallen Terrorcons which resulted in him being painfully shocked, leaving perminent, lightning-like scars across his body.{{storylink|Scorpinok (episode)|Scorpinok}} At some point thereafter, he met up with Cyclonus somewhere in space and gave him a quick run-down on the situation. Cyclonus liked the idea of reviving Megatron, but was skeptical that this goal could actually be achieved and continued to Earth.

After that, Tidal Wave led a force of Terrorcons to attack [[Mars City]] and steal its energon. Due to the city's weak defenses, he was able to grab all its energon and slaughter most of its guards and inhabitants before leaving.

Fresh from this success, he led an attack on [[Plains City]] alongside Scorponok where he faced off against his old allies Cyclonus and Demolishor. They were again repelled after a fierce battle against the Autobots, but this time Cyclonus came with them, having seen that Scorponok possessed [[Energon Sword|Megatron's sword]] and thus concluding that Megatron could be brought back to life with reasonable effort. {{storylink|Megatron's Sword}}

Tidal Wave, Cyclonus, and Scorponok returned to Unicron's body where Tidal Wave showed Megatron's corpse to Cyclonus. After Cyclonus hitting the corpse failed to resurrect it, he and Tidal Wave began to question Scorponok over whether or not it was possible to bring Megatron back, given what state he was in. They were dismissively ordered to simply keep at their Energon-gathering tasks. Tidal Wave's team then tried to raid a recently discovered Energon vein in some snow mountains, but were driven away when the Autobots warped in an [[Cybertron City (city)|entire city]] atop of it. {{Storylink|The New Cybertron City}}

After this, the Autobots upgraded all their defenses around their energon sources, leading to a series of defeats for the Decepticons under Alpha Q's control. In frustration, Cyclonus kicked Megatron's corpse a few times in proxy revenge for all the times he'd mistreated them. Tidal Wave begged him not to do that and verbally defended Megatron when their leader's disembodied voice demanded that they treat him with more respect.

Seeing that Megatron's spark was causing trouble, Scorponok attempted to kill him outright but only succeeded in resurrecting him in a new body; at this, Tidal Wave was overjoyed and gleefully helped Megatron take control of Unicron's body from Alpha Q. He then followed Megatron in another attack on Plains City, during which Hot Shot lost an arm. {{storylink|Megatron Resurrected}} After this, they returned to their base where Tidal Wave was assigned to guard the recently inducted Scorponok. Scorponok wondered why Megatron didn't kill Optimus Prime in their last sortie and Tidal Wave told him to figure it out - in the event that he did, the rest of the Decepticons would start to trust him.

Tidal Wave later took part in the Decepticon mission to [[Ocean City]], during which Demolishor returned to their ranks {{storylink|Megatron Raid}} for another raid on [[Moon (moon)|Earth's moon]]. {{storylink|Starscream the Mysterious Mercenary}} He also accompanied the Decepticons in their next attack on Ocean City, attacking from beneath the water but was like everyone else, repelled by the [[energon tower]]'s ''Autobot-flavored'' energon. {{storylink|Energon Tower (episode)|Energon Tower}} He was present when Megatron, for the first and only time, used the powers he gained from Unicron to restore Starscream's loyalty to the Decepticons. {{storylink|The Legend of Rodimus}}

After this, he observed a force of Alpha Q's Terrorcons investigating [[Jungle City]], and reasoned that there was probably energon to be had. The Decepticons attacked and made off with as much energon as they could, during which Tidal Wave attempted to destroy the energon tower. On this occasion, most of their efforts went to waste when the Autobots exploded the city to prevent the Decepticons from getting the energon, but the 'Cons still came out ahead. {{storylink|Crisis in Jungle City}}

He also took part in an attempt to capture [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]]. {{storylink|Kicker Beware!}} When this failed, Megatron got the idea that chucking some giant comet-shaped lumps of Unicron at Earth would obliterate the Autobots and assigned Tidal Wave to lead the efforts in pushing them across the gulf of space. Tidal Wave explained to Scorponok that this slow procession would scare the humans much more than having the projectiles appear near their planet without warning.

However, Megatron's grand plan just gave the humans and Autobots time to prepare and so the plan failed miserably. All the Decepticons fled back to Unicron. {{storylink|Energon Grid (episode)| Energon Grid}} Following this, Megatron ordered them to find Alpha Q, who would be the next potential target for retrieving a lot of energon. Demolishor and Tidal Wave protested that this would be nigh impossible, but Megatron would have none of it. Just before trying to track him down, Tidal Wave and Starscream were responsible for seeing that Scorponok took all his energon back to Megatron and didn't try to skim any off the top for Alpha Q. {{storylink|Rodimus Friend or Foe?}}

He later took part in a plan to lure out Alpha Q, using Scorponok as bait. However, it was [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]] who came to Scorponok's rescue. All the Decepticons present, Tidal Wave among them, exchanged fire with Rodimus's team and retreated when Megatron was injured. {{storylink|Go for Unicron!}} Some time after this battle, he received a message from Snow Cat that he had found energon on an icy planet and so the Decepticons set off in pursuit. He attacked the ''[[Miranda II]]'' alongside Megatron and, after making some initial gains, the two were forced back by Alpha Q's new [[Cruellock]] drones.

Still, this event ended well for Tidal Wave and the Decepticons. The Autobot's used the ''Miranda II's'' [[Energon Ring]] to destroy the Terrorcons, allowing the Decepticons to take all the planet's energon. {{storylink|The Return of Demolishor}} After that, he took part in a rather half-hearted attack on the ''Miranda II'' in deep space, and was again driven off. {{storylink|A Tale of Two Heros}} After that, the Autobots under Optimus Prime decided to attack Unicron and so the Decepticons went to defend their base, Tidal Wave paying particular attention to Optimus Prime. After fighting for a while, both Unicron and the ''Miranda II'' arrived at Cybertron where both sides fell back to regroup. {{storylink|Battle Stations}}

With the arrival of Unicron, Cybertron erupted into chaos. Megatron decided to recruit the unstable and dangerous Shockblast, who was currently imprisoned by the Autobot/Decepticon coalition for having refused to lay down his arms when the two factions made peace. Knowing of Shockblast's disregard for the lives of his fellow Decepticons, Tidal Wave vehemently opposed this plan, but to no avail. {{storylink|Alpha Q: Identity}} Shockblast [[radio]]ed Megatron regarding a cache of energon big enough to revive Unicron, and thus despite his objections to trusting Shockblast, Tidal Wave was assigned to lead a team to this location.

As soon as they met, Shockblast immediately took charge of the operation, sending the Decepticons to smash various towers. Tidal Wave refused to obey him and the two began squabbling with Shockblast actually using Tidal Wave as a flying surfboard from which to shoot down Autobots. Megatron ordered the Decepticons to bring Shockblast to him and, his loyalty to Megatron being greater than his hatred of Shockblast, Tidal Wave reluctantly did so. {{storylink|Shockblast: Rampage}}

Tidal Wave kept up his dislike and distrust of Shockblast, even going so far as to blame him for Unicron's highly destructive pangs of hunger. {{storylink|Survival Instincts}} When Unicron had been sated, Megatron sent the surviving Decepticons to destroy Cybertron's energy grid with Shockblast in command; Tidal Wave chafed at this, but still obeyed his commander. Shockblast ended up getting in over his head and so Tidal Wave tried to rescue him, getting hit by a falling energon tower in the process. {{storylink|Each One Fights...}} After this, Megatron rebuilt him as Mirage, a much smaller and sleeker form.

Mirage's first mission in his new body was to lead a large force of Terrorcons down to Cybertron as a distraction to allow Shockblast to sneak in with the main force. The plan worked and, despite Shockblast's incompetence, Unicron was restored to functionality. {{storylink|Unicron Unleashed}} The Autobots retaliated and Mirage helped defend Unicron. {{storylink|Open Fire!}} In the aftermath he helped Starscream save Megatron from Shockblast's attempted coup and then followed Megatron into the rift in space that had opened up in the meantime. {{storylink|Ripped Up Space}}

Mirage followed Megatron when he destroyed the first of Alpha Q's planets and also when they took a large amount of energon from [[Iron Planet]] while deliberately not helping the imprisoned Shockblast. {{storylink|Protection}} He then accompanied Megatron on his secret mission to Iron Planet. There, Mirage advised Megatron not to release Shockblast; Megatron agreed, threatening to 'rewire' the traitor which inspired Shockblast to offer to capture an Autobot as proof of his loyalty. Megatron did release Shockblast at this, above Mirage's objections; Mirage's fears on this particular occasion proves groundless as Shockblast did indeed capture [[Inferno (Energon)|Inferno]], allowing Megatron to forcibly turn him into a Decepticon. {{storylink|Imprisoned Inferno}}

When Scorponok went to harvest the energon from [[Jungle Planet (Energon)|Jungle Planet]], Mirage was among those who distracted the Autobots from this mission. {{storylink|Jungle Planet (episode)|Jungle Planet}} Mirage took part in the Decepticons' attempt to steal Jungle Planet's Energon before an energon tower was activated there. They met with failure. {{storylink|Bulkhead (episode)|Bulkhead}}

Some time later, he took part in the attack on the Autobot base on Ocean Planet, approaching the base of the energon tower from underwater and destroying it. The Autobots brought in another tower to Ocean Planet, and Mirage tried once more to destroy it, but this time was met by an Autobot team waiting for him underwater. They foiled Mirage's attempt at toppling this second tower, and the Decepticons were forced to flee as the [[energon grid (technology)|energon grid]] came online. {{storylink|Farewell Inferno}} ''When [[Planet Q]] was restored, Mirage was one of those sent to guard the palace in case Scorponok should get in and regain his memories, but was smashed out of the way by [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]]. He later took part in another defense of Unicron against the Autobots, and was this time defeated by the presence of [[Omega Supreme (Energon)|Omega Supreme]] and the timely arrival of Inferno, now rebuilt as Roadblock, with a huge number of energon towers. {{storylink|Omega Supreme (episode)|Omega Supreme}} He remained with Unicron and again fought to defend the chaos bringer's body from those who would destroy it, successfully doing so long enough for Megatron to reattach the Planet-Eater's head to its body. {{storylink|A Heroic Battle}}

Optimus used the new powers granted to him by his combination with Omega Supreme to toss Snow Cat and Mirage around like rag dolls as he made his way towards Megatron's throne room. As soon as the pair recovered, they were hounded by a team of Autobots led by Hot Shot, leaving them unable to help Megatron gather the last bit of Energon he needed to fully awaken Unicron. Then... the voice of the Decepticon leader was heard throughout the planet, declaring Megatron was no more: Unicron was now in command of the Decepticon's body! {{storylink|The Power of Unicron}} Mirage, Snow Cat, and Demolishor struggled to escape the planet-eater's internal defenses. They failed, and ended up bound to Unicron's surface by energy-tendrils, giving them a front-row seat for Unicron/Megatron's battle with the giant-size, [[Primus]]-empowered Optimus Supreme. {{storylink|Optimus Supreme}} Fortunately for them, they were freed by a barrage of Autobot fire moments before Optimus destroyed Unicron, and captured by [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]]. {{storylink|Unicron Perishes}}

Mirage, Snow Cat, and Demolishor were summarily put in prison where they shared a block with Six Shot. ''Oddly enough, given their history'', Mirage didn't seem to bear Six Shot any of the hatred he had for his brother. The four jailbirds were eventually released by Starscream. {{storylink|Ambition}} During the jailbreak, Mirage was separated from the others, but soon found them again. Not seeing any Autobots around, they just decided to blow up whatever was convenient. After a while, the others left him to attend to various tasks, leaving Mirage and Snow Cat to carry on creating chaos. {{storylink|Wishes}}

After Six Shot collapsed the energon towers and flooded Cybertron with ''Decepticon-flavored'' energon gas, Mirage and Snow Cat rejoined the rest of the Decepticons in their commandeered control room, where they along with Demolishor were ready and willing to express their disdain for Six Shot when he activated the base defenses to fire on the ''Miranda II'' without Galvatron's express permission. {{storylink|Galvatron!}}

The Autobots were soon to find a way to break through the gas shroud and return to Cybertron; Mirage took part in the battle that followed, which concluded with the Autobots escaping underground. {{storylink|Break Through}}

At some point in time, both Mirage and a digital duplicate of his "Tidal Wave" body were among the Decepticons who hacked into an Autobot virtual training program that took the form of a tag-team fighting tournament. They lost their very first match against Hot Shot and Rodimus, but stuck around to watch Superion Maximus get thrashed by Bruticus Maximus and Constructicon Maximus later in the tournament. {{storylink|Distribution}}

Mirage, Demolishor, and Snow Cat followed Rad and [[Brian Jones|Dr. Jones]] to the energon core, having been misdirected by Starscream into thinking this was the location of the Super Energon pool. Dr. Jones led Snow Cat and Demolishor off to find the actual pool, leaving Mirage to guard Rad. {{storylink|The Omega Train}} After a while, [[Arcee (Energon)|Arcee]] and Kicker arrived on a rescue mission. Arcee fired an [[energon star]] at [[Primus]], temporarily re-energising the deity and causing it to drive Mirage out. {{storylink|Ironhide Team}} Mirage then rejoined the Decepticons to shoot Autobots on the surface. The Decepticons turned to the business of using the energon towers to move Cybertron through space, through the rift back to Alpha Q's realm. Mirage helped battle the Autobots as the planet moved through the rift, and later tried to defend the towers against Autobot attack. Both efforts were undermined by Six Shot's pettiness and insubordination, and Cybertron was brought to a halt. {{storylink|Formidable}}

Following this battle, the Decepticons retreated and Mirage, along with Demolishor and Snow Cat, was assigned to guard the unreliable Six Shot. Having apparently become stupider since his upgrade, Mirage and friends took seriously Six Shot's suggestion that they go and claim some super energon for themselves, and so they ran off and let their prisoner escape.

Six Shot managed to trap them and they were once again rescued by Starscream. The four blasted their way into the control room, only to find Six Shot was long gone. Then, thanks to [[Sally Jones|Sally]] who had since infiltrated the Decepticons' control room, the Autobots arrived to take control of the Decepticon base. Mirage despaired at how Galvatron had left them to their own devices in a distinctly soap operatic manner. {{storylink|Galvatron Terror}} He was impressed when Galvatron became a giant after immersing himself for a second time in the super energon pool. Mirage helped his fellow Decepticons make war against the Autobots even as the now Unicron-sized Galvatron took to space, fluttering about like skirmishing insects around the colossus. {{storylink|Destructive Power}}

Mirage was left unable to contribute further to the conflict when Optimus channeled Unicron's essence to grow in size and match Galvatron in stature. Millions of years ago, Tidal Wave captured [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]] and coerced him into building [[seismic-shock warhead]]s for the Decepticons, which Megatron would use as a last resort to destroy the planet should he lose the war. Whenever Ironhide refused, an Autobot prisoner of war was executed. {{storylink|Aftershock (issue)|Aftershock}}

Ten years after the defeat of Unicron, Tidal Wave felt ill-at-ease during peacetime, and was recruited by [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] into joining the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcons]]. Starscream came upon the group and openly mocked them during a cathartic exercise, wherein they unloaded their weaponry into the open. Tidal Wave and Scorponok sent Starscream tumbling into a ore processor to be crushed, though Tidal Wave's leg was injured in the process. The other Terrorcons brought him before their master, and Tidal Wave met with Alpha Quintesson for the first time. His benefactor healed his wounds and granted him an upgraded "hyper-mode," boosting his offensive capabilities. On Earth, the Terrorcons attacked an [[Alterenergy]] excavation/drilling operation site. Tidal Wave and Insecticon began setting up Energon siphons when the humans retaliated by sending several fighter jets their way. To Tidal Wave's chagrin, the other Terrorcons got to destroy them all while he prepped their equipment. {{storylink|What Lies Beneath}} Once that distraction had been dealt with, Scorponok made it known that he planned to gather Energon for himself, and only deliver his table scraps to Unicron. Though Tidal Wave disagreed with short-changing their master, he was too intimidated by Scorponok to speak up about it. He later alerted Scorponok to the return of Battle Ravage, who had caught the humans [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]] and [[Alexis Thi Dang|Alexis]] while on a hunt. {{storylink|What Lies Beneath, Part Two}} Scorponok took immediate interest in Kicker Jones, as his analysis of the boy indicated that he could detect Energon from afar. Tidal Wave doubted that Kicker was anything special, but Scorponok reminded him that he wasn't on his team to think. Optimus Prime and his Autobots then traveled to Earth to battle the Terrorcons. Tidal Wave and his compatriots powered themselves with pure Energon before the battle, giving them an extra edge. After coercing Kicker to find them another Energon vein, Scorponok left Tidal Wave behind to guard the siphons while he dealt with the Autobots. Hot Shot managed to get past the other Terrorcons, and rescued Kicker alongside [[Skyblast (Energon)|Skyblast]] and [[Strongarm (Energon)|Strongarm]]. The Autobots then fled, leaving Tidal Wave with the Energon canisters... which contained impure and highly volatile Energon. Tidal Wave attacked Ironhide and [[Cliffjumper (Energon)|Cliffjumper]] while they were overseeing the construction of a new base on Cybertron. Using Cliffjumper's life as leverage, he forced Ironhide to reactivate the seismic-shock warheads for Scorponok's scheme to use on Earth. Ironhide foiled Tidal Wave when he armed the doomsday weapon, with the cold threat of destroying Cybertron rather than allowing the Decepticons destroy Earth. Tidal Wave, in his combined battleship mode, was stationed as a relay and refuel point off a small chain of islands in the Mid-Atlantic. The [[Autobot]]s made their way inside him to take out the [[Decepticlone]] platoons inside and destroy him, but discovered that Tidal Wave wasn't merely a transport. They escaped just in time to avoid being crushed as Tidal Wave transformed into his titanic robot mode.

Tidal Wave walked around the island chain in the deep waters, unloading volleys of missiles, lasers, and the occasional [[Jet Laser]] on the tiny-by-comparison Autobots. Despite his impressive size, firepower, and nigh-impenetrable armor, the Autobots managed to do enough damage to Tidal Wave's one weak point—his face—to cause a chain reaction that caused multiple explosions inside him, sending him falling face-first to the ocean floor.

The Autobots were able to extract information from Tidal Wave's computer that the Decepticons' main base was located in Northern Alaska, but the information was planted there by Megatron to lead the Autobots into a trap.

Mudflap first met [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] when they were about to be thrown into a [[smelting pool]]. It was fun! {{Storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.2|Dogfight!}}

Mudflap and Skids happily stayed on Cybertron, going through intensive training (which ''totally'' wasn't goofing off) and having extreme-sports contests. Neither wanted to leave their homeworld, and they were the only Transformers on it until [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] turned up with [[Purple generic drones|a Decepticon army]]. When they heard him mention a [[Star harvester|star harvester]], Mudflap said they should tell someone...but was a bit upset to find out the fastest way to do that would be to leave Cybertron and tell the Autobots in person.

The decision was made for them when the Decepticons attacked. Mudflap took some hits, causing Skids to obliterate the Decepticons responsible, but for the most part, their training paid off. However, he realised they were running out of places to run, so he followed his brother in leaving the plane, with only one course of action remaining: follow the message [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] had beamed into space and head for [[Earth]]. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.1|Training Day}}

The twins made it to Earth soon, crash-landing in Toronto, Canada. On the way in, Mudflap hit a [[Wikipedia: CN Tower|big tower]], and was a bit guilty since he knew how these primitive luddite humans still needed radio waves (the saps). They swam their way to Ball's Falls, where they picked up Earth alternate modes and, Mudflap taking charge, set out to try and find local Autobots and warn them about the star harvester.

Driving along the wrong side of the Interstate, the twins were attacked by the [[Seeker (ROTF)|Seeker]] [[Ransack (ROTF)|Ransack]], who pursued them across open countryside, trying to kill them on Starscream's orders. Mudflap transformed and blinded the old Decepticon with a fistful of dirt, which bought the twins some time to find cover. However, the airborne enemy kept up with the twins, and Mudflap lost a chance at cover when he ran back to save his brother. Luckily they were saved by Bumblebee, who attacked and forced Ransack to retreat. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.2|Dogfight!}}

Now living at [[NEST]]'s Californian base with Bumblebee as their minder, Skids and Mudflap repeatedly asked to deliver their info to [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]—and only Optimus, much to [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide's]] annoyance. He was more annoyed when they ambushed him to get to Optimus...who, as it turns out, was away on a need-to-know mission anyway.

After this defeat, and with Ironhide having bluntly told them nobody believed them, they desperately asked to join in a NEST op in [[Las Vegas]]...getting turned down, because they were too crap to get involved. Mudflap almost called their superior a very rude word over this, and after the team had left, he decided they should go to Vegas ''anyway'' to show Ironhide just what they could do! What they could do, it turned out, was screw up a successful mission by freeing [[Grindor (ROTF)|a captured Decepticon]] by trying to "shoot him down". Mudflap was left mortified. Ironhide, recognising what they were trying to do, told him that maybe they could work on training the twins not to jump in without looking, and that the trick was to learn from mistakes. The twins claimed they'd try. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.3|Learning Curve}}

They soon wished they hadn't, as they were condemned to NEST's [[United Kingdom|Orkney Islands]] base for days of sim-com (simulated combat) training under [[Sideswipe (ROTF)|Sideswipe]]. Mudflap agreed with Skids' theory that this was an excuse to keep them away from Optimus, and the whole situation got on his nerves. They both protested to Sideswipe that they could handle Decepticons. Him pointing out their failure with Grindor shut them up. However, the training was interrupted when [[Ravage (ROTF)|a huge metal cat monster]] broke into the base, KOed Sideswipe, and tried to eat the twins!

They transformed and fled, with all attempts at holding it off failing. Mudflap hit on a plan of trapping the creature in the sim-com room and letting the drones shoot it down. He pulled this off, using himself as bait; in the process, he received a communication from [[Soundwave (ROTF)|the monster's master]], who demanded to know what the twins knew about some lost and fallen guy. Mudflap briefly wondered who this dude was, then shrugged and just sprang the trap on Ravage.

With that done, the twins tried to fill in the revived Sideswipe... except the creature had gone, leaving their instructor with the view that ''they'd'' knocked him out in revenge for their training. Between that and Grindor, he thought they were up to something... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.4|New Tricks}}

The twins were later taken to Diego Garcia, and ecstatic to learn Optimus was coming there! Okay, he's only dropping a prisoner off, he's not here to see them and knows nothing about their story, but they ignored all that and drove off when Sideswipe wasn't looking so they could greet the leader. Mudflap squeed over how Optimus would be so proud with ''his'' work! Skids picked up on that and accused his brother of trying to steal the glory, and soon the two of them were having a big fight and slagging match...

And so their first meeting with Optimus Prime was to be yelled at for conduct unbecoming of an Autobot warrior. (See the pic to the side to find out how ''that'' went.)

That was when [[Scorponok (Movie)|Scorponok]] made his attack, blasting at the distracted Prime and moving to free the prisoner [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]]. Mudflap swiftly grabbed a weapon to stop this escape, but Sideways snatched it from his hands and used it himself to cover his retreat. Sideswipe, watching from a distance, believed Mudflap had ''given'' over the weapon, and convinced Prime that the twins were traitors: they must have helped Scorponok get here and now assisted him in his mission, on top of freeing Grindor and attacking him! Mudflap and Skids protested they were being set up because they knew too much, but it fell on deaf ears as they were taken into custody... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.5|Reversal of Fortune}}

Following this, the decision was made to exile the twins into orbit. Mudflap and his brother moaned that they should've just ignored the Fallen, but help was at hand... from the Decepticons? Mudflap angrily told [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Decepticon agent Wheelie]] that they didn't ''want'' to be freed by ''him'', but the complaint fell on deaf ears: now the twins looked like even ''bigger'' traitors. The two went underground to clear their names, and hit on the foolproof plan of abducting [[Sam Witwicky]] from his house and pleading with him to tell their story to Optimus. All this did was cause Bumblebee to launch an attack to rescue Sam. Mudflap pleaded with the angry Bumblebee that they weren't traitors, that they had vital info...

...and then [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] gunned down the scout and offered the twins sanctuary in the Decepticons. Nowhere else to go, Mudflap took Soundwave's hand and said he'd never liked Earth anyway... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.6|Outlaw Blues}}

Once in the Decepticons, he had fun dissing all the other members as being losers and getting on ''everyone's'' nerve, before Soundwave finally sent them on a mission to bring in a rogue member. Once on Earth again, he was genuinely surprised to find out Skids was only ''pretending'' to defect; his annoyed brother explained the plan was that, since Soundwave would send a minder to watch them, they could ambush their minder and have a prisoner to give to the Autobots.

The rogue member turned out to be Ransack, and Mudflap helped Skids lie to him that the Fallen had sent them. Talking instead of fighting? That annoyed ''both'' of their minders, and they came under attack by Grindor and Sideways! Mudflap was ordered after Sideways, and engaged him in a game of chicken; the Decepticon blinked first and crashed into a tree. He thought this was enough, but Skids was determined that they'd now take the fight to Soundwave himself! (Mudflap's considered response was "YOWZA!") {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.7|Turnabout}}

Upon returning to the Phobos base, Mudflap was consulted about having a plan of attack. He decided why bother having plans ''now'', just attack! The twins stormed the base, and Mudflap was able to defeat Ravage by ducking the beast's attacks and planting an electrical bomb on him. However, this success was quickly undone and Mudflap found himself about to be killed by Starscream... but the battle gave Ransack an opening to shoot the Seeker in the back and escape, causing the other Decepticons to chase after him! The twins had ''no'' idea what ''that'' was all about... but this was just a short respite, as the twins discovered just what that army massing on Cybertron had been planning: to arrive at the Phobos base en route to Earth...

The twins stood ready to make their last stand, and Mudflap prepared to take down as many drones as possible... when Optimus arrived with the other Autobots! The twins had been tracked to Phobos and to their shock, the other Autobots had realised they weren't traitors and were even apologising! And with all the street cred of uncovering the Phobos base, the twins were welcomed to the Autobots' Earth division. Skids briefly wondered if they should mention "the ''Fa-''" again, but Mudflap told him they were ''never'' mentioning ''that'' bloody thing again. After hearing Optimus Prime's call into space for all Autobots, Skids and Mudflap were captured by the Decepticons [[Thundercracker (Movie)|Thundercracker]] and [[Flatline]] just before reaching Earth. Seeking to perfect some new medical experiments, Flatline tried to forcibly reprogram the brothers' processors, but only succeeded in leaving them addled and confused. Another of Flatline's experiments, the tri-fold biker named [[Arcee (Movie)|Arcee]], helped Skids and Mudflap escape. They picked up a ship and made their trek the rest of the way to Earth. {{storylink|Tales of the Fallen issue 6|Tales of the Fallen #6}}

The twins were first into action for NEST's mission to Shanghai, slowly trundling through the city streets in their ice-cream truck mode and taunting Decepticons in the area to show themselves. Two Decepticons soon did: [[Demolishor (ROTF)|Demolishor]] and [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]]. At NEST's orders, the twins went after the smaller foe and, working with Arcee, managed to herd him into an alleyway. However, their slow, ungainly choice of alternate mode left them unable to keep up with Sideways. While Arcee leapt through a building to pursue the Decepticon, the twins tried to go around the building to catch him. However, the twins inadvertently split apart from one another when they rounded the corner too sharply, thus taking them out of the chase. Mudflap took the blame for the crash, but Skids still berated (and smacked) Mudflap for his failure.

Upon arrival to Diego Garcia and NEST headquarters, the twins were given new, individual alternate forms to make sure another incident like that never happened. Mudflap wanted the Chevy Beat as a vehicle form, but after a brief wrestling match with his brother, he was relegated to the form of the [[wikipedia: Chevy Trax|Chevrolet Trax]].

Later, the twins, along with the other NEST-allied Autobots, were dispatched to look for [[Sam Witwicky]] when Decepticons were detected heading towards his college. After [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] was killed by [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], the twins helped the Autobot force fight off the Decepticon leader and [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], allowing Sam, [[Leo Spitz]], [[Mikaela Banes]] and [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] to make good their escape. Skids and Mudflap met up with Bumblebee and the humans, and together they fled to a remote location. After the twins teased Leo for a while for his panic attack, Sam inquired whether one of them could interpret the Cybertronic symbols with which he had become obsessed. The twins claimed that they couldn't read the ancient Language of the Primes and weren't much into reading, anyway.

With the help of the Decepticon [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]] and former [[Sector Seven]] agent [[Seymour Simmons]], the group made their way to the Smithsonian, where the humans reactivated the venerable ex-Decepticon [[Jetfire (ROTF)|Jetfire]]. He teleported them all to [[Egypt]] before telling them the tale of the original [[Dynasty of Primes|Primes]], the [[star harvester]], which had the potential to destroy all life on Earth, and finally, the [[Matrix of Leadership]], the key to activating the harvester and possibly the only thing that could bring Optimus Prime back to life. When the Matrix could not be found at the ruins of [[Petra]], Mudflap questioned why they where helping Sam, wondering what they had done for the Autobots. Skids pointed out that Sam ''had'' killed Megatron, but Mudflap said the point was moot since Megatron was now back. After calling each other "scared" and "ugly" the two began to fight with one another. After damaging the structure and nearly crushing the humans, Bumblebee picked the twins up, bashed them together, and threw them out the door. However, their bickering created a hole in the wall where the [[Tomb of the Primes]] lay, and with it, the Matrix.

Making their way back to the Pyramids where NEST waited with Optimus Prime's body, the group came under attack by Starscream. Mudflap, Skids, Leo and Simmons acted as a decoy to lure the Decepticons away from Sam and Mikaela. Unfortunately, they attracted the attention of the [[Constructicon (ROTF)|Constructicons]], who [[combiner|combined]] into [[Devastator (ROTF)|Devastator]] and attacked by vacuuming up loose objects such as sand, cars, and Mudflap. Hanging on for dear life inside the monster's mouth, he tried to use his "[[Wikipedia:Kung-Fu grip|kung-fu grip]]", but was sucked further inside, losing his shoulder guards in the process.

Mudflap first met [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] when they were about to be thrown into a [[smelting pool]]. It was fun! {{Storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.2|Dogfight!}}

Mudflap and Skids happily stayed on Cybertron, going through intensive training (which ''totally'' wasn't goofing off) and having extreme-sports contests. Neither wanted to leave their homeworld, and they were the only Transformers on it until [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] turned up with [[Purple generic drones|a Decepticon army]]. When they heard him mention a [[Star harvester|star harvester]], Mudflap said they should tell someone...but was a bit upset to find out the fastest way to do that would be to leave Cybertron and tell the Autobots in person.

The decision was made for them when the Decepticons attacked. Mudflap took some hits, causing Skids to obliterate the Decepticons responsible, but for the most part, their training paid off. However, he realised they were running out of places to run, so he followed his brother in leaving the plane, with only one course of action remaining: follow the message [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] had beamed into space and head for [[Earth]]. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.1|Training Day}}

The twins made it to Earth soon, crash-landing in Toronto, Canada. On the way in, Mudflap hit a [[Wikipedia: CN Tower|big tower]], and was a bit guilty since he knew how these primitive luddite humans still needed radio waves (the saps). They swam their way to Ball's Falls, where they picked up Earth alternate modes and, Mudflap taking charge, set out to try and find local Autobots and warn them about the star harvester.

Driving along the wrong side of the Interstate, the twins were attacked by the [[Seeker (ROTF)|Seeker]] [[Ransack (ROTF)|Ransack]], who pursued them across open countryside, trying to kill them on Starscream's orders. Mudflap transformed and blinded the old Decepticon with a fistful of dirt, which bought the twins some time to find cover. However, the airborne enemy kept up with the twins, and Mudflap lost a chance at cover when he ran back to save his brother. Luckily they were saved by Bumblebee, who attacked and forced Ransack to retreat. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.2|Dogfight!}}

Now living at [[NEST]]'s Californian base with Bumblebee as their minder, Skids and Mudflap repeatedly asked to deliver their info to [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]—and only Optimus, much to [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide's]] annoyance. He was more annoyed when they ambushed him to get to Optimus...who, as it turns out, was away on a need-to-know mission anyway.

After this defeat, and with Ironhide having bluntly told them nobody believed them, they desperately asked to join in a NEST op in [[Las Vegas]]...getting turned down, because they were too crap to get involved. Mudflap almost called their superior a very rude word over this, and after the team had left, he decided they should go to Vegas ''anyway'' to show Ironhide just what they could do! What they could do, it turned out, was screw up a successful mission by freeing [[Grindor (ROTF)|a captured Decepticon]] by trying to "shoot him down". Mudflap was left mortified. Ironhide, recognising what they were trying to do, told him that maybe they could work on training the twins not to jump in without looking, and that the trick was to learn from mistakes. The twins claimed they'd try. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.3|Learning Curve}}

They soon wished they hadn't, as they were condemned to NEST's [[United Kingdom|Orkney Islands]] base for days of sim-com (simulated combat) training under [[Sideswipe (ROTF)|Sideswipe]]. Mudflap agreed with Skids' theory that this was an excuse to keep them away from Optimus, and the whole situation got on his nerves. They both protested to Sideswipe that they could handle Decepticons. Him pointing out their failure with Grindor shut them up. However, the training was interrupted when [[Ravage (ROTF)|a huge metal cat monster]] broke into the base, KOed Sideswipe, and tried to eat the twins!

They transformed and fled, with all attempts at holding it off failing. Mudflap hit on a plan of trapping the creature in the sim-com room and letting the drones shoot it down. He pulled this off, using himself as bait; in the process, he received a communication from [[Soundwave (ROTF)|the monster's master]], who demanded to know what the twins knew about some lost and fallen guy. Mudflap briefly wondered who this dude was, then shrugged and just sprang the trap on Ravage.

With that done, the twins tried to fill in the revived Sideswipe... except the creature had gone, leaving their instructor with the view that ''they'd'' knocked him out in revenge for their training. Between that and Grindor, he thought they were up to something... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.4|New Tricks}}

The twins were later taken to Diego Garcia, and ecstatic to learn Optimus was coming there! Okay, he's only dropping a prisoner off, he's not here to see them and knows nothing about their story, but they ignored all that and drove off when Sideswipe wasn't looking so they could greet the leader. Mudflap squeed over how Optimus would be so proud with ''his'' work! Skids picked up on that and accused his brother of trying to steal the glory, and soon the two of them were having a big fight and slagging match...

And so their first meeting with Optimus Prime was to be yelled at for conduct unbecoming of an Autobot warrior. (See the pic to the side to find out how ''that'' went.)

That was when [[Scorponok (Movie)|Scorponok]] made his attack, blasting at the distracted Prime and moving to free the prisoner [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]]. Mudflap swiftly grabbed a weapon to stop this escape, but Sideways snatched it from his hands and used it himself to cover his retreat. Sideswipe, watching from a distance, believed Mudflap had ''given'' over the weapon, and convinced Prime that the twins were traitors: they must have helped Scorponok get here and now assisted him in his mission, on top of freeing Grindor and attacking him! Mudflap and Skids protested they were being set up because they knew too much, but it fell on deaf ears as they were taken into custody... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.5|Reversal of Fortune}}

Following this, the decision was made to exile the twins into orbit. Mudflap and his brother moaned that they should've just ignored the Fallen, but help was at hand... from the Decepticons? Mudflap angrily told [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Decepticon agent Wheelie]] that they didn't ''want'' to be freed by ''him'', but the complaint fell on deaf ears: now the twins looked like even ''bigger'' traitors. The two went underground to clear their names, and hit on the foolproof plan of abducting [[Sam Witwicky]] from his house and pleading with him to tell their story to Optimus. All this did was cause Bumblebee to launch an attack to rescue Sam. Mudflap pleaded with the angry Bumblebee that they weren't traitors, that they had vital info...

...and then [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] gunned down the scout and offered the twins sanctuary in the Decepticons. Nowhere else to go, Mudflap took Soundwave's hand and said he'd never liked Earth anyway... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.6|Outlaw Blues}}

Once in the Decepticons, he had fun dissing all the other members as being losers and getting on ''everyone's'' nerve, before Soundwave finally sent them on a mission to bring in a rogue member. Once on Earth again, he was genuinely surprised to find out Skids was only ''pretending'' to defect; his annoyed brother explained the plan was that, since Soundwave would send a minder to watch them, they could ambush their minder and have a prisoner to give to the Autobots.

The rogue member turned out to be Ransack, and Mudflap helped Skids lie to him that the Fallen had sent them. Talking instead of fighting? That annoyed ''both'' of their minders, and they came under attack by Grindor and Sideways! Mudflap was ordered after Sideways, and engaged him in a game of chicken; the Decepticon blinked first and crashed into a tree. He thought this was enough, but Skids was determined that they'd now take the fight to Soundwave himself! (Mudflap's considered response was "YOWZA!") {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.7|Turnabout}}

Upon returning to the Phobos base, Mudflap was consulted about having a plan of attack. He decided why bother having plans ''now'', just attack! The twins stormed the base, and Mudflap was able to defeat Ravage by ducking the beast's attacks and planting an electrical bomb on him. However, this success was quickly undone and Mudflap found himself about to be killed by Starscream... but the battle gave Ransack an opening to shoot the Seeker in the back and escape, causing the other Decepticons to chase after him! The twins had ''no'' idea what ''that'' was all about... but this was just a short respite, as the twins discovered just what that army massing on Cybertron had been planning: to arrive at the Phobos base en route to Earth...

The twins stood ready to make their last stand, and Mudflap prepared to take down as many drones as possible... when Optimus arrived with the other Autobots! The twins had been tracked to Phobos and to their shock, the other Autobots had realised they weren't traitors and were even apologising! And with all the street cred of uncovering the Phobos base, the twins were welcomed to the Autobots' Earth division. Skids briefly wondered if they should mention "the ''Fa-''" again, but Mudflap told him they were ''never'' mentioning ''that'' bloody thing again. Seeking to perfect some new medical experiments, Flatline tried to forcibly reprogram the brothers' processors, but only succeeded in leaving them addled and confused. Another of Flatline's experiments, the tri-fold biker named [[Arcee (Movie)|Arcee]], helped Skids and Mudflap escape. The twins were first into action for NEST's mission to Shanghai, slowly trundling through the city streets in their ice-cream truck mode and taunting Decepticons in the area to show themselves. Two Decepticons soon did: [[Demolishor (ROTF)|Demolishor]] and [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]]. At NEST's orders, the twins went after the smaller foe and, working with Arcee, managed to herd him into an alleyway. However, their slow, ungainly choice of alternate mode left them unable to keep up with Sideways. While Arcee leapt through a building to pursue the Decepticon, the twins tried to go around the building to catch him. However, the twins inadvertently split apart from one another when they rounded the corner too sharply, thus taking them out of the chase. Mudflap took the blame for the crash, but Skids still berated (and smacked) Mudflap for his failure.

Mudflap wanted the Chevy Beat as a vehicle form, but after a brief wrestling match with his brother, he was relegated to the form of the [[wikipedia: Chevy Trax|Chevrolet Trax]].

Later, the twins, along with the other NEST-allied Autobots, were dispatched to look for [[Sam Witwicky]] when Decepticons were detected heading towards his college. After [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] was killed by [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], the twins helped the Autobot force fight off the Decepticon leader and [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], allowing Sam, [[Leo Spitz]], [[Mikaela Banes]] and [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] to make good their escape. Skids and Mudflap met up with Bumblebee and the humans, and together they fled to a remote location. After the twins teased Leo for a while for his panic attack, Sam inquired whether one of them could interpret the Cybertronic symbols with which he had become obsessed. The twins claimed that they couldn't read the ancient Language of the Primes and weren't much into reading, anyway.

With the help of the Decepticon [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]] and former [[Sector Seven]] agent [[Seymour Simmons]], the group made their way to the Smithsonian, where the humans reactivated the venerable ex-Decepticon [[Jetfire (ROTF)|Jetfire]]. He teleported them all to [[Egypt]] before telling them the tale of the original [[Dynasty of Primes|Primes]], the [[star harvester]], which had the potential to destroy all life on Earth, and finally, the [[Matrix of Leadership]], the key to activating the harvester and possibly the only thing that could bring Optimus Prime back to life. When the Matrix could not be found at the ruins of [[Petra]], Mudflap questioned why they where helping Sam, wondering what they had done for the Autobots. Skids pointed out that Sam ''had'' killed Megatron, but Mudflap said the point was moot since Megatron was now back. After calling each other "scared" and "ugly" the two began to fight with one another. After damaging the structure and nearly crushing the humans, Bumblebee picked the twins up, bashed them together, and threw them out the door. However, their bickering created a hole in the wall where the [[Tomb of the Primes]] lay, and with it, the Matrix.

Making their way back to the Pyramids where NEST waited with Optimus Prime's body, the group came under attack by Starscream. Mudflap, Skids, Leo and Simmons acted as a decoy to lure the Decepticons away from Sam and Mikaela. Unfortunately, they attracted the attention of the [[Constructicon (ROTF)|Constructicons]], who [[combiner|combined]] into [[Devastator (ROTF)|Devastator]] and attacked by vacuuming up loose objects such as sand, cars, and Mudflap. Hanging on for dear life inside the monster's mouth, he tried to use his "[[Wikipedia:Kung-Fu grip|kung-fu grip]]", but was sucked further inside, losing his shoulder guards in the process.

Skids' hyper-reactive optical imaging scanner allows him to process tactical information faster than ''anyone'' (except his twin). There, unscrupulous Decepticon medic [[Flatline|Flatline]] attempted to forcibly reprogram them into loyal Decepticon soldiers, but all he ended up doing was knocking out a good chunk of their intellect and reasoning skills. They probablly would've spent the rest of their days locked up and experimented on if a recently upgraded [[Arcee (Movie)|Arcee]] had not sprung them from their cell. Skids and Mudflap happily stayed on Cybertron, going through intensive training (which ''totally'' wasn't goofing off) and having extreme-sports contests. Neither wanted to leave their homeworld, and they were the only Transformers on it until [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] turned up with [[Purple generic drones|a Decepticon army]]. When they heard him mention a [[Star harvester|star harvester]], they realised they should tell someone...but Skids worked out the fastest way to do that would be in person, meaning they'd have to leave their homeworld.

The decision was made for them when the Decepticons attacked. Skids angrily blew away some of the jet-drones when they shot his brother, using an impressive missile barrage, and used transform-and-shoot moves to keep their pursuers away...but he realised this was delaying the inevitable. They fled the planet, with Skids remembering to head for Earth, the site of Optimus's message. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.1|Training Day}}

The twins made it to [[Earth]] soon, crash-landing in [[Toronto]], [[Canada]]. On the way in, Mudflap hit a [[Wikipedia: CN Tower|big tower]], but Skids felt it wasn't that big a deal. They swam their way to Ball's Falls, where they picked up Earth alternate modes and set out to try and find local Autobots and warn them about the star harvester.

Driving along the wrong side of the Interstate (Skids wanted a challenge!), the twins were attacked by the Seeker [[Ransack (ROTF)|Ransack]], trying to kill them on [[the Fallen]]'s orders. While Skids dissed Ransack's retro alt mode, he pursued them across [[Wikipedia: North by Northwest|open countryside]]. With their energon levels low, the airborne enemy kept up with the twins, and Skids soon collapsed, unable to run any further. He and his brother would've both died, if not for Bumblebee arriving and forcing the Seeker into retreat. {{Storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.2|Dogfight!}}

Now living at [[NEST]]'s [[California]]n base with Bumblebee as their minder, Skids and Mudflap repeatedly asked to deliver their info to [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]—and only Optimus, much to [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide's]] annoyance. He was more annoyed when they ambushed him (Skids tipping crates on him!) to get to Optimus...who, as it turns out, was away on a need-to-know mission anyway.

After this defeat, and with Ironhide having bluntly told them nobody believed them, they desperately asked to join in a NEST op in [[Las Vegas]]...getting turned down, because they were too crap to get involved. Annoyed with this, Skids went along with Mudflap's suggestion to go to Vegas and show Ironhide just what they could do! What they could do, it turned out, was screw up a successful mission by freeing [[Grindor (ROTF)|a captured Decepticon]] by trying to "shoot him down". Skids was left mortified. Ironhide, recognising what they were trying to do, told him that maybe they could work on training the twins not to jump in without looking, and that the trick was to learn from mistakes. They soon wished they hadn't, as they were condemned to NEST's [[United Kingdom|Orkney Islands]] base for days of sim-com (simulated combat) training under [[Sideswipe (ROTF)|Sideswipe]]. Skids had a nagging feeling this was just an excuse to keep them away from the main action, and both protested to Sideswipe that they could handle Decepticons. Him pointing out their failure with Grindor shut them up. However, the training was interrupted when [[Ravage (ROTF)|a huge metal cat monster]] broke into the base, KOed Sideswipe, and tried to eat the twins!

They transformed and fled, drawing the creature into a trap where Skids used his weaponry to bring the roof down on it. When that failed, he deferred to and helped Mudflap carry out his plan of trapping the beast in a sim-com session on maximum setting. With that done, and with it revealed that the creature was sent after them by another Decepticon, they tried to fill in the revived Sideswipe... except the creature had gone, leaving their instructor with the view that ''they'd'' knocked him out in revenge for their training. Between that and Grindor, he thinks they're up to something... {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.4|New Tricks}}

The twins were later taken to Diego Garcia, and ecstatic to learn Optimus was coming there! Sideswipe stated he didn't know about their info and wasn't here to talk to them, cutting off Skids as he attempted to mention the [[the Fallen|"dude they call the F-"]]. While their trainer told them how they weren't to see Prime, the twins cunningly drove off when he wasn't looking and headed for the base's runway. The mood soured when Skids noticed Mudflap was planning to pinch the credit for their intel, and soon the two of them were having a big fight and slagging match on the runway...

And so their first meeting with Optimus Prime was to be yelled at for conduct unbecoming of an Autobot warrior. (Mudflap started it!)

That was when [[Scorponok (Movie)|Scorponok]] made his attack, blasting at the distracted Prime. Skids made the situation worse by accidentally tripping over Optimus, preventing him from taking control, and so Scorponok liberated the prisoner [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]]. Sideswipe, watching from a distance, believed Skids had done that ''deliberately'', and convinced Prime that the twins were traitors: they must have helped Scorponok get here and now assisted him in his mission, on top of freeing Grindor and attacking him at Orkney! Skids and Mudflap protested they were being set up because they knew too much, but it fell on deaf ears as they were taken into custody. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.5|Reversal of Fortune}}

Following this, the decision was made to exile the twins into orbit. A disgruntled Skids remarked they should've minded their own business and ignored the Fallen, but help was at hand... from the Decepticons? Freed by a Decepticon attack, an angry Skids realised they'd been framed ''again'' and now the Autobots would think they were massive traitors. The two went underground to clear their names, and hit on the foolproof plan of abducting [[Sam Witwicky]] from his house and pleading with him to tell their story to Optimus. All this did was cause Bumblebee to launch an attack to rescue Sam. Skids spat out the kid, remarking he'd need to clean his seats to get the organic off them, but that didn't stop Bumblebee holding him at gunpoint...

...until Soundwave arrived, gunning down the Autobot and offering the twins sanctuary in the Decepticons. Skids quickly agreed {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.6|Outlaw Blues}}, intending to get into a position where they could whallop a Decepticon and hand him over to the Autobots to clear their names. After some fun times of annoying the other Decepticons, the twins were despatched to bring in an AWOL member; Skids was annoyed to find Mudflap didn't know they were just pretending, and hoped Soundwave would be sending a minder (either Grindor or Sideways) they could ambush.

The AWOL member turned out to be Ransack. Skids quickly lied to him, saying they'd ''totally'' been sent by [[the Fallen]] to bring him in from the cold. This deception worked, until the Decepticon minders attacked... both of them! Skids ordered Mudflap after Sideways while he launched suppressive fire on Grindor and dodged each shot. Unfortunately, the chopper bugged out with Ransack held captive. While the twins had captured Sideways, Skids wasn't satisfied: he was tired of taking the fall and being pushed around. He decided they were going to go gunning for Soundwave and bring down his whole conspiracy! {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 2.7|Turnabout}}

Upon returning to the Phobos base, it suddenly occured to Skids that they had no plan... but, as Mudflap wisely pointed out to him, that never stopped them before! The twins stormed the base, but initial success was undone when Starscream and Soundwave fought back. Luckily, the two Decepticons were forced to run off after Ransack, who'd fled talking about reporting to the Fallen. Skids was left feeling that they'd just seen part of a really big, confusing picture. Unfortunately, this was just a short respite, as the twins discovered just what that army massing on Cybertron had been planning: to arrive at the Phobos base en route to Earth...

The twins stood ready to make their last stand, and Skids told his brother it had been an honour to work with him... when Optimus arrived with the other Autobots! The twins had been tracked to Phobos and to their shock, the other Autobots had realised they weren't traitors and were even apologising! And with all the street cred of uncovering the Phobos base, the twins were welcomed to the Autobots' Earth division. Skids and his brother were part of a taskforce deployed in Shanghai to root out Decepticon activity. In their combined ice cream truck [[alternate mode]], they rolled through the evacuated zone, taunting and trying to lure out the Decepticons in the area. When the Decepticons did show themselves, they gave chase to the escaping [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]]. However, their slow and ungainly choice of vehicle could not keep up with the fugitive, and they rounded a corner too sharply, tearing their combined form in half. Even though Mudflap took the blame for the separation, Skids still berated (and smacked) his brother for his failure. Skids reminded his brother that they were in a combat situation and wondered what was wrong with him.

Upon arrival at [[Diego Garcia]] and NEST headquarters, the twins received new, separate alternate modes. A fight broke out between the two of them over which vehicle they wanted, and Skids "called" the [[Wikipedia: Chevy Beat|Beat]], resigning Mudflap to the form of a [[Wikipedia: Chevy Trax|Trax]].

Later, the twins, along with the other NEST-allied Autobots, were dispatched to look for [[Sam Witwicky]] when Decepticons were detected heading towards his college. After [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] was killed by [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], the twins helped the Autobot force fight off the Decepticon leader and [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]], allowing Sam, [[Leo Spitz]], [[Mikaela Banes]] and [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] to make good their escape. Skids and Mudflap met up with Bumblebee and the humans, and together they fled to a remote location. After teasing Leo for a while for his panic attack, Sam inquired whether one of them could interpret the Cybertronic symbols he had become obsessed with, but the twins claimed that they couldn't read the ancient Language of the Primes, and weren't much into reading, anyway.

With the help of the Decepticon [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]] and former [[Sector Seven]] agent [[Seymour Simmons]], the group made their way to the Smithsonian, where the humans reactivated the venerable ex-Decepticon [[Jetfire (ROTF)|Jetfire]]. He teleported them all to [[Egypt]] before telling them the tale of the original [[Dynasty of Primes|Primes]], the [[star harvester]], which had the potential to destroy all life on Earth, and finally, the [[Matrix of Leadership]], the key to activating the harvester, and possibly the only thing that could bring Optimus Prime back to life. When the Matrix could not be found at the ruins of [[Petra]], the twins began arguing with each other over why they were following Sam, which soon escalated into physical violence. As their brawl nearly crushed the humans, Bumblebee picked up the twins in each hand, slammed them together, and threw them outside the ruins, which Skids considered to be just rude. Fortunately, their bickering created a hole in the wall where the [[Tomb of the Primes]] lay, and with it, the Matrix.

Making their way back to the Pyramids where NEST waited with Optimus Prime's body, the group came under attack by Starscream. Mudflap, Skids, Leo and Simmons acted as a decoy to lure the Decepticons away from Sam and Mikaela. Pulling down on this canopy in robot mode slightly opens two chest panels, lifts the top of his head slightly (in imitation of an open mouth) and produces one of two phrases. American versions say "Decepticons will crush the Autobots!" and "No one can defeat Starscream!" while the European multilingual versions say "Starscream!" and "Decepticons!". Additionally, a small light activates in the middle of the robot mode body, lighting up his clear, red eyes, along with various other portions of clear amber plastic that are revealed by the moving panels.
