:::It's actually my wife Quez who's the native Japanese speaker. We were so boggled by the whole thing that she wanted to create a site explaining the Kiss Play craziness. As she's read up on the latest developments for TF: Kiss-Kiss, I've summarized them here. It's been a while since she read the Galvatron info, and we're way behind on updating TF:KK, but the main gist is that he crashed into Earth, cells scattered, and when the heroines eventually make it to the facility under E.D.C. headquarters (which is, uh, the "Genital System". Accessed via the "Spiral Vagina". I have no idea how we're going to write this stuff up), they've got Galvatron's headless body down there. Stuff happens, the various Unicron cells get sucked back into Galvatron and he gets his head back, and they launch him into space, presumably to go crash into Thrull before 2010. No, but some backwards reasoning suggests it: according to one of the alterations made after I created this page, the Decepticons' first strike probably took out Metroplex's transformation cog, preventing the Autobots from converting the city to robot mode. Personally I don't buy that explanation either, but given they did a TV episode on the subject later (referenced in the article on the cog) I was just retconning the article to reflect it.

Although I see the point you're probably making: to transform Autobot City into Metroplex might well have resulted in some injuries and deaths given a solid number of Autobots were inside the city when it would have gone to robot mode. (User 210.185.64.133 ... I am going to create an account, I swear...)

:Hmm, if Metroplex isn't mentioned in the actual movie, and the fact that his transformation cog was damaged is only mentioned in a followup episode, this should be mentioned in the article. Taking everything at face value, they initiated a clearly-automated sequence for converting the city into a battle fortress. While rewatching this battle again, I think I may have spotted Smokescreen's body lying where Wheeljack's body turns up a second later. ::The Kiss Play backstory is always a little vague, but it's stated that Prime's death occurred in a one-on-one battle with Megatron during the Unicron War of 2005, and that he died in America before his corpse was flown to Japan. So it's almost certainly a movie continuity reference. Hot Rod's KP backstory and Starscream's ghost-ness also fit this timing. I don't think it's meant to mesh with that old commercial, though - the body was flown into Japan by military cargo plane, then driven by truck convoy to Tokyo. And, skipping ahead, Grimlock appears to refer to his "me Grimlock kick butt" moment as his "Kick Attack". Erm.

There's also something I'd sort of like confirmed... I've heard a rumor that the Japanese-dubbed Junkions, instead of talking in TV quotes, all have Chinese accents. But I have no idea if it's true.

:I think the inaccurate cast listing is simply a case of whoever animated the credits confusing characters. Gears has a VA but doesn't speak, however, Scavenger (also voiced by Don Messick) clearly speaks on Junkion when he's attacking Danielle with Scrapper. Gears briefly appears in the movie on Moon Base 1, but has no speaking lines. I also wonder if this is why Prowl is credited (Bell also voiced Swopp who speaks on Quintessa), however, I believe Prowl had some lines in the original script that may have been recorded but not animated.

The cast lay out has the Insecticons and Seekers listed next to their Unicronian counterpart. This is a major problem considering it lists Skywarp as Cyclonus and Bombshell as the Armada. Now, ignoring the fact that in all honesty the Skywarp is Cyclonus argument is based solely on people preferring it that way, surely the ambiguity should be recognised, and they should be listed as separate characters, but add in a note or something (especially since it gives him a VA when he didn't have any confirmed lines). Also, I think listing the Heralds next to their formers is very iffy when either the originals didn't speak in the movie or the new forms didn't speak. There is a LOT of material that could enrich this article, particularly in the "Notes" section. Not to mention Friedman's own article, since we now have a better idea of what he contributed.

It's well worth a read. Certainly wasn't suitable to be the finished film, due to extreme length, some super-clunky dialogue, and the fact that the plot just kind of falls apart toward the end.

The imagery is really something though, a lot of ideas that never made it into any future Transformers project. The battle scenes are also noticeably more graphic. Probably the biggest (and oddest) change is no Matrix, and the concept substituted is the "Life Spark" of Optimus himself.
