Pokeformers (or Pokéformers) is a derogatory term often used to refer to the Armada franchise by members of the Transformers fandom who weren't particularly fond of the series. The term is a portmanteau of the words "Pokémon" and "Transformers".

Some fans began referring to Armada as "Pokeformers" because of superficial similarities between the two franchise's premises: each featured a collection of small, cute characters with amazing powers and limited vocal skills which buyers were urged to collect as many of as they could. The Armada animated series did little to help refute this comparison, with the first half of the show featuring virtually nothing but the Transformers searching for new Mini-Cons in an attempt to "collect them all"—ironically taking the theme to an even greater extent than the Pokémon cartoon itself, which only gives over a small percentage of its episodes to the capture of new creatures. It tends to be the preference of the detractors in question, however, to ignore the fact that the "Mini-Con of the Week" focus disappeared completely as the series moved into its second half, and that the comic series was never like that (among other things, the comic Mini-Cons were every bit as verbose as their "bulk" brethren).

Although the collection aspect was enough of a similarity for people to draw comparisons between the two franchises (in both fair and unfair ways), it didn't seem to be at the true heart of the issue. Rather, the Armada show had a lot of stereotypical anime conventions (which had been seen in Transformers before), was marketed for pre-teens, and wasn't always serious: all traits shared with Pokémon... and hundreds of other shows. Essentially, this is a comparison made primarily by people who disliked Armada and wanted to make it sound dumb by associating it with something else they disliked (and assumed other people disliked as well, though the Pokémon franchise is still quite popular with the adult demographic).

It could be fairly stated that both Pokémon and Armada simply tapped into a tried and true marketing approach to sell their product. Furthermore, Armada was far from the first Transformers franchise to use the "Collect them all!" approach; it has been a common marketing theme of the Transformers brand since its inception.

But I guess ya gotta---CATCH 'EM ALL! POKEMON!
Transformers: War for Cybertron is a series of video games published by Activision and developed by High Moon Studios, Next Level Games and Vicarious Visions, set before the Transformers take their war to Earth.

The developers saw themselves creating a prequel to the Generation 1 cartoon, and as such, the look, characters and story of the game is steeped in Generation 1 and its lore. Hasbro, however, made it part of the foundation for their new "modern continuity", beginning with Transformers: Prime. ==Transformer references==
* Steve Blum does his best Victor Caroli impression for his role of the narrator. (way to go, Steve.)
* A variety of callbacks to The Transformers: The Movie:
** Ironhide greets the space slug with the universal greeting, like Kup did so in the classic movie. Warpath was baffled at this "greeting".
** In the Kaon prison, an Autobot is pronounced guilty and pushed off a gantry into a pit. He responds with "Spare me this mockery of justice!", quoting Kranix during his trial on Quintessa. Just like the movie!
** Rumble repeats another line from the movie: "First we crack the shell, then we crack the nuts inside!" Now that was my favorite movie referance.
** When Starscream declares himself as Decepticon leader, Megatron mumbles "I still function!." Also a movie reference.
* The Punch of Kill Everything is a multiplayer Leader Class ability and a Soldier class upgrade. What a laaaaaaame name. Unless it does what it says, of course.
* When Skywarp calls Thundercracker 'ugly' he replies "we look the SAME.. Hmmm.
* Stan Bush's 2007 theme song, "Till All Are One (Transformers Theme music)" is used in the credits, and the special thanks describe the families that were involved "rock like Stan Bush".
* Air Raid has fun at exploiting Silverbolt's fear of heights. (Jeez, Silverbolt! You transform into a PLANE!)
* The in-game menu for stat tracking and leaderboards is called Teletraan 1.
* When Ironhide asks Optimus how he knows Megatron, Optimus replies that it is a story for another time. I wonder if he remembered...
*Pretty much all the Achievement/Trophy names are references to other parts of Transformers history, mostly G1.
** The ones for completing the campaign chapters include Dark Awakening, Starscream's Brigade, A Prime Problem, The Last Prime, You Got The Touch, The War Within, and Till All Are One.
** Gameplay names include Thief in the Night, Fire in the Sky, Chaos Bringer, Motormaster!, Devastator!, Brute-a-kiss!, Slugfest, Powerglide Performer, First we crack the shell..., Blast-a-rachnia and Ramhorn.
* Autobots and Decepticons alike are heard to swear by 'Primus', confirming his 'existence'.
* Trypticon has a 'conversion cog' that controls his transformation, and is probably a less 'branded' term for G1's transformation cog.
* The energon cubes bear strong resemblance to the Allspark cube.
* The game's Rocket Turret, when ripped from its mounting, is named the "Nucleon Shock Cannon" on the HUD. A better version of Ion, maybe?

Toy tie-ins
Hasbro has confirmed that several toys will be made to tie into the promotion of the video game. These include figures of Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron and Soundwave. At Toy Fair 2010, they were confirmed to be part of the Generations toyline. At 2010 they said they would like to make more, and that Starscream (and likely other Seekers) are at the top of the list if they decide to produce more figures from the game.
IDW Publishing published a War for Cybertron comic based on the game. News of this first got leaked when Australian website JB Hi-Fi offered a free copy of issue 1 if you pre-ordered the game from them. Later, it was available for those that purchased either the PS3 or Xbox versions of the game at Sears or Kmart in America. The story is a partial adaptation of the Exodus book.
Operation Transmission Recovery
As an early marketing campaign, the game's website included the feature "Operation Transmission Recovery": using transmission and coordinate dials, you could pick up "transmissions" from Cybertron (or "video clips/images" to you and me).

There are two dials, blue (outer) and yellow (inner). Using your mouse, you can drag the dial to set coordinates. The blue dial is set by aligning it to marks on the outer circle. When aligned, it becomes a blue ring. After that, the yellow dial is set so that signal strength is full, as indicated by a meter on the right. Once a transmission is unlocked its symbol lights up and the "Total Recovered" amount increases a little bit. When you reach 100%, it tells you how many hours remain until next batch.

As of January 12, 2010, the following transmissions (Batch 9), almost all of which are part of the second trailer (link below), were available:
When Predacons kidnapped Koji Onishis dad, a famous scientist, that meant he got to hang out with the Autobots. Though he desperately missed his father, Koji befriended many of the Autobots and was a frequent guest at their headquarters, acting as a sort of cultural ambassador to help them understand Earth's societies and history. On several occasions he has had close calls with the Predacons and Decepticons, but even among that group he has made a new friend.

Koji Onishi's life changed the day his father attended the first International Scientific Symposium in New York City. As Koji and his mom watched on television, the evil Predacon Megatron interrupted the ceremony, demanding Doctor Onishi. Koji was contacted by Optimus Prime, who arranged a rendezvous at Metro Park. When Koji got there, he was picked up by a fire engine—Optimus Prime, who explained that he was an Autobot from the planet Cybertron, on Earth to defend it from the Predacons. Optimus took Koji via the Global Space Bridge to New York where the Autobot fought Megatron. Koji was also introduced to the Autobot Brothers and encountered Dark Scream, Gas Skunk and Slapper. The Autobots were ultimately unable to stop Koji's father being abducted. Battle Protocol!

Optimus took Koji on his first visit to the Autobots' secret underground headquarters and introduced him to T-AI. Koji attempted to greet T-AI with a handshake, at which point he discovered she was a hologram. He was, however, able to assist in foiling the Predacons' latest scheme to gain energy—when X-Brawn recovered an explosive device from Sky-Byte but had to dispose of it in a hurry, it was Koji's idea to get the device into the stratosphere which saved Metro City. An Explosive Situation

Koji attended the launching of the Linear RFG bullet train, which was subsequently endangered by the Predacons. It was then that he was introduced to Team Bullet Train, who turned up to save the futuristic vehicle from destruction, and was able to act as a communications link to keep the Autobots updated regarding the situation on board. The train was ultimately saved and the Predacons chased off. Bullet Train to the Rescue He also tried to go cycling with his friend Karl, although the pair were stuck in traffic for most of the day with Karl's father due to another Predacon plan. Koji and Karl eventually did enjoy some cycling together, watched over by Optimus Prime who observed that he was glad Koji was able to distract himself from worrying about his father, if only for a short time. Spychangers to the Rescue

Indeed, Koji later went on an archeological expedition with Doctor Okasai to see the Black Pyramid at the bottom of the sea off the coast from Metro City. The Predacons happened to be trying to tap an oil line near the pyramid, leading to Dr. Okasai's diving bell being attacked by Sky-Byte. Koji was able to call in the Autobots and keep T-AI updated on the fight while the Predacons were successfully repelled and Dr. Okasai's ship repaired. The Hunt for Black Pyramid

Side Burn took Koji to look at the Payuma ruins, which the boy had previously visited with his father. Also visiting the ruins was Sky-Byte, who'd been led there by memories extracted from Dr. Onishi, and boy and Autobot soon found themselves under attack. They were able to get to a higher level in the caves and contact T-AI, who sent Optimus and the rest of the brothers to chase Sky-Byte off. Afterward, Koji opened the box which Sky-Byte was interested in, to find a picture of himself with his father in which was hidden a microchip containing information which would be of great help to the Autobots in the coming war. The Secret of the Ruins

Koji was again hanging out with Karl on a visit to a car crushing facility (which Karl's father had helped with) when the Predacons turned up with Side Burn as a prisoner. He spied on the Predacons as they subsequently captured Optimus, and was able to help Prowl and X-Brawn sneak in to rescue their leader. Sideburn's Obsession He went for a ride on the steam engine Grandpa, which was also (unsuccessfully) attacked by the Predacons, following them misinterpreting information from a disk Dr. Onishi had intended for Koji. Secret Weapon: D-5

He spent a lot of time at the Autobot base, warning them about a diamond ruby on display at the International Exposition Center which the Predacons might steal Mirage's Betrayal and helping them track down the newly-arrived Autobot Skid-Z whose alternate mode scan of Auggie Cahnay's racing car had given him uncontrollable urges. Skid Z's Choice He was also introduced to Tow-Line, and was subsequently able to alert T-AI when he spotted Tow-Line towing away Rapid Run after being brainwashed by the Predacons. Tow-Line Goes Haywire

When the Predacons began attacking statues, Koji suggested the Cave of the Dragon which he used to visit with his father. As it turned out, this led to the discovery of the first of the O-Parts. The Ultimate Robot Warrior A short time later, Koji and the Autobots reviewed footage of past adventures in an attempt to discover where the Predacons' base was located. Hope for the Future

Koji's tales of UFO sightings helped lead the Autobots to Castle Peak where an Autobot ship had crashed 60 years before. The Decepticons Unfortunately they were unable to prevent the creation of the Decepticons, who attempted to prove themselves to Megatron by attacking Sherman Dam, which Koji was coincidentally visiting with his father's friend Doctor Bridget. The pair became trapped, and Koji contacted the Autobots for backup. The Autobot brothers and Team Bullet Train were able to defend the dam against the Decepticons, and Koji and Dr. Bridget were saved. Commandos

Optimus and Koji watched a shuttle launch together. Koji said he'd like to become an astronaut until Optimus pointed out it would involve a lot of hard work. Attack from Outer Space In a rare event, Koji was actually on a class trip to a power plant when the Autobot brothers turned up there following a false lead from Sky-Byte. The Fish Test During a baseball game, Koji and the rest of the crowd were surprised when it was disrupted by Rapid Run turning up in the stadium. Landfill (episode)

Koji, Karl and their friend Jenny were all attending the opening of the CGA Tower when it was attacked by Predacons. Although the tower was in danger of toppling, Sky-Byte and the Predacons worked to hold it upright while the Build Team dug a new hole for it. The news coverage made it appear that Sky-Byte had actually saved the tower, and Koji and his friends began to regard him as a hero. Sky-Byte Saves the Day The Predacon was later taken aback when Koji and a group of children rushed up to him to ask for an autograph. Ultra Magnus (episode)

It was also about this time that Optimus' brother Ultra Magnus came to Earth and fought the Autobot leader. Koji monitored the battle with T-AI from the Autobot base and was able to spur the other Autobots to help Optimus. As they watched, the two fighting Autobots combined into Omega Prime for the first time to fight off Megatron and his Decepticons. Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!

Koji still worried about his father, although T-AI reminded him that the Decepticons' recent attack on an area Dr. Onishi had been excavating (which had led to the discovery of Fortress Maximus) must have meant that his father was still alive in order to provide the Decepticons with information. Encouraged, Koji went shopping for a birthday gift for his dad, buying a fishing lure as he and his father enjoyed going fishing together. While shopping he encountered Sky-Byte who was searching for Fortress Maximus. Koji tried to persuade the shark to help rescue his father, and was asking him to take a birthday present to the doctor when the Autobot brothers arrived and engaged the Predacon in combat. Sky-Byte threw the large container he was carrying to Koji, who opened it to find that the shark had been carrying around Dr. Onishi. Realising that Sky-Byte had rescued his father, he told the Autobots and Sky-Byte fled in panic. Koji Gets His Wish

With the recovery of Dr. Onishi, the Autobots were able to recover all of the remaining O-Parts and T-AI volunteered to merge with them in order to extract the information they contained. She became trapped but was able to point the Autobots to the location of the Orb of Sigma. Koji insisted on tagging along out of concern for his friend when they went to retrieve it. Optimus was unimpressed and ordered him to stay on the surface with Side Burn, but when the Decepticons attacked, the pair were forced to enter the ruins anyway. Koji helped Side Burn recover the Orb from Megatron and held onto it as they returned it to Autobot headquarters. To his relief, T-AI was successfully extracted from the Orb. Peril from the Past

Unfortunately the Decepticons were able to obtain Cerebros, the key to Fortress Maximus, and, despite the Autobots' attempts to stop them, activated the giant in the middle of Metro City. Koji ran from the Autobot base toward the battle, believing he could help in some way. Maximus surprisingly obeyed his command to stop. Maximus Emerges The Autobots proceeded to try to work out why Maximus obeyed Koji—although Side Burn decided that it meant Koji was special in some way, Dr. Onishi pointed out Koji's only special ability was to eat three cheeseburgers in one sitting. Father and son then accompanied the Autobots into the desert, where Scourge had magnified the human portion of his bio-signature and was commanding Fortress Maximus once again. Koji tried unsuccessfully to override Scourge's control, but it was his father's plan of bringing a thousand children to the battleground that stopped the titan. Koji apologised for endangering himself but Dr. Onishi merely said he was proud that his son risked everything to help his friends. The Human Element

With Koji a target of the Decepticons and after at least one unsuccessful kidnap attempt, the Autobots decided to keep him under protection at all times. He was not keen on having an escort and swapped clothing with Karl so that he could go skateboarding elsewhere. Although the ruse was quickly uncovered by the Autobots, Karl was kidnapped by Sky-Byte and taken to Galvatron so that the boy could be used to control Fortress Maximus. When Koji found out, he accompanied the Autobots on a rescue mission and was able to help save Karl before apologising for putting his friend in danger. Mistaken Identity

T-AI and Dr. Onishi continued to work on a way to control Fortress Maximus. Koji found his father working on the problem at home and volunteered to run and check if T-AI had turned up anything. Unfortunately he ran straight past Sky-Byte, accidentally leading the shark to the location of the Autobot base, which was subsequently assaulted by the Decepticons. Surprise Attack! Dr. Onishi later found his son paralysed by one of Galvatron's cyber-bats. Once he was released from the cyber-bat's control, Koji sent a plea to Optimus not to let Galvatron defeat him, giving the Autobot leader the willpower to carry on fighting. Galvatron's Revenge Koji then returned to Autobot headquarters to monitor the fight between Galvatron and Omega Prime. The Autobot leader's decision on one final confrontation at the Earth's core worried Koji, and he began contacting children over the Internet to encourage them to send energy to Fortress Maximus. Maximus rerouted the additional power to Omega Prime, forming the Matrix Blade with which Prime was able to defeat the Decepticon leader.

After the battle was over, Koji visited the Autobot base to find it empty. Returning outside, he found Optimus Prime who let him know that the Autobots were having one final look around before they returned to Cybertron. The Final Battle (RID)
Koji's relationship with his mother is... ill-defined at best. She was glimpsed only briefly, and then never seen, heard, or mentioned again, though Koji still has a normal human home he presumably shares with her. Battle Protocol!

:Orbital jump is a technology from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

An orbital jump is a type of teleportation, typically used by Transformers to travel from an orbiting starship to a planet's surface and back. A variant, the orbital bounce, sends the traveler from one point on the planet's surface to another, presumably "bouncing" off the orbiting starship in transit. Orbital bounces over short distances aren't entirely accurate.

The teleporting subject typically appears in a blaze of light, accompanied by a beam of light descending from the sky and retracting once the teleport is complete. It also sometimes appears as an energy portal. Nightbeat says of this mode of travel: "not the nicest way to travel... but it gets you down fast, slips you past any kind of local sensor network." Despite its name, the technology still works when the transporting starship is on the planet's surface, even if it is buried under hundreds of feet of water or ice.

The subject Transformer arrives in primary mode, even when doing so risks breaking cover or exposure to dangerous radiation, perhaps indicating that the technology has certain limitations. The process is highly traumatic and potentially lethal to humans, and possibly to facsimile constructs as well. Super-powered humans just get shaken up a bit.

Fiction
IDW comics
Thousands of years ago, the Dynobots tracked Shockwave to prehistoric Earth as he worked on his Regenesis project. The team adapted their forms to have beast modes with a protective outer coating to defend against the planet's raw energon radiation. However, despite the need for this protection, when the newly-created Dinobots jumped to Earth's surface to face off against Shockwave, they arrived in robot mode. Spotlight: Shockwave

Megatron traveled from an abandoned Decepticon bunker in Nebraska to Starscream's Siege Mode base in Oregon via orbital bounce. Prior to his arrival, Bumblebee detected "a buildup of charged anti-protons" presaging the bounce. Infiltration issue 6

Nightbeat "jumped" from his orbiting spaceship to the surface of Gorlam Prime. Despite the need for stealth, he arrived in robot mode. Spotlight: Nightbeat

When the Autobots on Earth deployed to Brasnya, they traveled via orbital bounce. Of note, the teleporting ship, Ark-19, was parked at the bottom of Lake Michigan at the time. The Autobots arrived in robot mode, but immediately transformed to their Earthen disguises. Infiltration issue 4

Jazz, Bumblebee, and Wolverine used an orbital bounce to sneak in to the Decepticons' base in Latveria. Since it was a short bounce, it got them close to the target, but they still had to find their way. Prowl, Ratchet, and Spider-Man later used it to bounce out of the base and into the battle outside. Later, having their evil scheme thwarted, the Decepticons escaped using an emergency warp-out. Man and Machine, Part Four

An orbital jump may have been responsible for the Autobots' loss of the Georgi Koska facsimile construct shortly thereafter; Hot Rod transported the captured facsimile to the Ark-32 via orbital bounce, but the clone, wounded by shrapnel, expired by the time it reached the ship. Escalation issue 6

An orbital jump saved Earth's Autobots from the wrath of Sixshot. Setting up a remote control link to Ark-32, Nightbeat transported all of the team away via orbital jump, leaving only Prime behind to battle Sixshot to the finish. When Sixshot withdrew to deal with other problems, Prime ordered Nightbeat to clear him out via orbital jump, seconds before the Air Force carpet-bombed the battle site. Though Verity Carlo and Jimmy Pink did not survive the jump, Ratchet was able to successfully revive them shortly thereafter. Devastation issue 4

An orbital bounce allowed the recently-revived Grimlock to escape from the (literal) clutches of Scorponok; the damaged and weaponless Dinobot leader teleported away from a losing battle to have a chance at finding his lost teammates. This jump was of particular note since Grimlock had no clue if his ship, the Skyfire, even still existed. Despite being buried in ice below the planet's surface, the technology still worked, transporting him to the vessel. Spotlight: Grimlock

Yet again, the orbital jump technology saved the crew of the Autobot vessel Mirror-Manifold; the Technobots teleported four Autobots out of the damaged ship mere seconds before it was obliterated by Cyclonus. Spotlight: Sideswipe
Generation 1 cartoon
:Voice actor: Wally Burr (English), Ken Shiroyama (Japanese)

Kremzeek was accidentally created by Megatron and Starscream whilst experimenting in the lab of the Decepticons' crashed starship-base. Kremzeek immediately began making the electrical equipment aboard the ship malfunction, giving Megatron the idea to use him as a weapon against the Autobots. Kremzeek succeeded in damaging most of the Autobots (leaving only Inferno, Optimus Prime, Omega Supreme, Blaster and Bumblebee functional) before entering Teletraan I and traveling to Japan by riding through the computer's connection to Sky Spy satellite.

The remaining Autobots followed in Omega Supreme, after being made invulnerable to Kremzeek's effects by Sparkplug's (patent pending) Magical Insulating Spray, but no sooner had they set down on the shores of Tokyo than the electrical imp took down the unprotected Omega. Kremzeek proceeded to wreak havoc through the city, terrorizing a bullet train, a hapless passer-by's walkman and a video arcade, before the Autobots cornered him in the Shibuya Manufacturing Corporation building. The chief engineer there, Doctor Sōji Yoshikawa, suggested that Blaster try weakening Kremzeek with radio waves, but the little gremlin tried to fight back by leaping into Blaster's chest compartment. Blaster figured to "fry him with his own juice", but he only wound up feeding Kremzeek with his own energy, and caused him to multiply.

The Kremzeek swarm began tearing through Tokyo, but Prime and Yoshikawa quickly put their heads together and deduced to a way to reunited the individual creatures. Jury-rigging a tower and charging it with all the energy from a local power plant, the Autobots drew all the Kremzeeks in, but the flaw in their plan was revealed when they merged into a giant Kremzeek! As the kaiju-sized Kremzeek stomped through the city, both it and the Autobots began to feel the effects of the Decepticons' energy magnet—the energy-draining device the villains had created while the Autobots were distracted dealing with Kremzeek. Finally hittong on a plan to stop both threats, the Autobots used a nearby radio tower to broadcast Kremzeek straight to the energy magnet, which he destroyed.

As Kremzeek cavorted amongst the remains of the energy magnet, the Autobots approached on a boat with Yoshikawa and some equipment that the scientist could use to disperse Kremzeek's energy and effectively destroy him. Bumblebee spoke out against the plan, dubbing Kremzeek "cute", but Optimus Prime solemnly pressed the fateful button that eradicated the little critter. Reflecting on the whole adventure as they prepared to return home, Blaster remarked that he couldn't help but miss Kremzeek somehow... at which point a solitary Kremzeek, which had previously jumped inside his body, burst from his chest compartment, and the hilarious pursuit antics restarted. Kremzeek!

Kiss Players
Over the next twenty years, Yoshikawa began breeding Kremzeeks in captivity (perhaps after studying the lone remaining creature following its recapture by the Autobots), and weaponized the technology behind the belligerent beasties, creating the "Yoshikawa Type 5 Auto-Kremzeek Launcher" for the Earth Defense Command. These guns, wielded by the E.D.C.'s Autorooper mechanoids, fired "Kremzeek bullets": ceramic shells that each contained a Kremzeek, which would be released when the shell shattered on impact to absorb the electrical energy of any mechanoid it struck. The bullets even had a limited paralytic effect on the nervous systems of humans.

When the hapless EDC Kiss Player Atari Hitotonari wound up swallowing a Legion, her Autorooper shrunk down to enter her body and destroy the beast, but when it tried shooting its Kremzeek bullets inside her, she violently protested. The Autorooper didn't listen, but it depleted its ammo reserves before doing Atari any damage. Kiss Players (radio drama)

Kayu Michikusa's Autorooper was seen firing a Kremzeek bullet at Marissa Faireborn, who was partially paralyzed by the little creature. Kiss Players issue 2

Ironhide carelessly discarded one of his cans, allowing it to dribble into the preserve's unsullied waters. Beachcomber probably shed a tear, just off-panel. Skyfire (issue)
