Robots in Disguise is not really a "continuity family" in the technical sense of the term as, to my knowledge, there's only one RID continuity. The one comic it got was also placed in its animated continuity, and all of the uses of its characters in Universe and the Fan Club Cybertron comic are also sprung from the cartoon's universe. : In all seriousness, though, I think just plain "continuity" works well enough to distinguish it from the continuity families of G1 and UT. - Dark T Zeratul 20:53, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
::: It does seem like Hasbro might have flirted with the idea of making it BW/BM based given how many clear design references there were in the early designs, but it's definately its own thing/continuity as it was created. == Making things up ==

I'm not at all comfortable with us declaring that Transformers Animated, which won't have any fiction until next year, is a family of incompatible continuities. What would be wrong with calling it, RiD, and Go-Go-Gobots simply "continuities", more accurately reflecting the data at hand instead of making things up? -Rotty 19:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

:I'm not really sure what you're talking about. Are you saying that a lone continuity can't be referred to as a "family"? I disagree with that, but regardless, RID and Go-Bots are not necessarily singular continuities anyway (tech specs, Dreamwave Summer Special, Car Robots, Complete Go-Bots Power!, etc.), and I think it is pretty much a given that Animated won't be either. --Steve-o 20:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
::Agreed. Believing that it's "making things up" to assume Animated won't be a singular entity with no contradictiong peripherals, the absolute first of its kind amongst Transformers franchises, is kind of like being doubtful the Sun will rise tomorrow. --ItsWalky 20:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
::: I'm half-expecting a comic book out of this. Whether or not it's through IDW... debatable. CN may negotiate to have it in with their stable of cartoon comics like Teen Titans Go! and the like. --M Sipher 21:16, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
::: Except it wouldn't be the first of its kind at all, Walky. The Dreamwave Summer Special story and non-show character tech specs for RiD were all set within the cartoon's universe. I don't know where you're finding multiple incompatible continuities. -Rotty 21:25, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
::::Read our Continuity article again. You can't say FOR SURE that the Summer Special and the toy bios are the same continuity as the show. Sure there's no reason to believe they aren't, but there's ALSO no reason to believe they are. What about the all the RiD and alternate RiD stuff brought into Universe as well, there's a LOT there that may not be incontinuity with the show. And of course Car Robots, which is VERY MUCH a different continuity from RiD but still part of its Continuity Family.--ZacWilliam 21:34, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
::::IMO, the non-show characters in RID are definitely not part of the cartoon's continuity. I really got the impression from that series that we were seeing all the Transformers that were on Earth participating. The toys claim those other characters were there too, and that, to me, means they are in a slightly different continuity. --Steve-o 22:19, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
:::Technically Walky, I think RiD is a singular continuity with no contradictory peripherals, unless you consider the simple existence of non-show characters in the toyline a contradiction. The E-hobby Spychangers packet, TFU/Revelations all seem to take place after the anime ended, but within anime continuity. -Derik 00:17, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
::::I may have to respectfully disagree. Even if you decided against all that stuff being seperate, and ignored all the Universe stuff, AND ignored the "Continuity Uncertanty Principle" as described in our Cont. article, all of wich make it a "family," you still have Car Robots. I know what you might say, that Japan now considers it part of G1. That doesn't matter. There's no reason IMO that a continuity can't be part of two families. like in a Venn diagram. And if the idea of "continuity families" is to have any validity at all, RiD and CR must be considered part of the same family, as they are, by definition, slight variations on each other. --ZacWilliam 05:24, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
:That's a good question. I'd say G1, and it's been classified thusly for a while with no complaints that I'm aware of. It's a new continuity and a new franchise, so it definitely verges on new-family territory. But the characters are so aggressively G1-y that I just don't see what purpose would be served in breaking them out. Even Animated mixes things up more, I think.. - Jackpot 01:27, 23 August 2009 (EDT)
::I think we'll need several more chapters in the manga-verse until those of us with access to the manga can get a better bead on the characters.
War For Cybertron: Earthrise is a subline imprint of the Generations toyline, and the second portion of the War for Cybertron Trilogy.

First revealed in late-2019 at New York Comic Con, War for Cybertron: Earthrise is a direct continuation of Siege, carrying over the C.O.M.B.A.T. System. Most toys are once again covered in 5mm and 3mm posts to accommodate the effect parts from Siege and the new Deluxe Class range from Cyberverse. Continuing in Earthrise are the Micromasters and Battle Masters. Battle Masters still include additional effect pieces that can be placed onto other weapons included with other size classes, as well as hardpoints on the figures themselves to simulate being 'shot' or on the back of vehicles to simulate "rocket boosters" or "speed", depending on the effect part. Micromasters also feature these additions, and retain their weapon mode combinations. Another carry over from Siege is the Leader Class figures being smaller, Voyager Class-sized figures that come with additional parts to beef up the price. Heck, some Siege figures even got re-released in this line!

The new primary gimmick of the toyline is the "A.I.R. Lock" (Adaptable Interconnection Retrofitter Lock) connection system that involves ramps that can hook up to various toys and connect them to each other, forming a giant battle station. This is supplemented with certain Deluxe Class partformers, that can break down and form armor or weapons, and add on to other stations using the modular system, effectively replacing the Weaponizers of Siege. Earthrise also returns to traditional Earth vehicle modes, rather than the Cybertronian vehicle modes of Siege, and few of these releases feature battle-damage style paint.

Every toy includes a piece of the "Transformers Universe Map" and a translucent red decoder to unlock the map's hidden paths, which compile into a larger map.

General retail
Like The Last Knight, Power of the Primes, Studio Series and Siege, TakaraTomy's Transformers Earthrise (トランスフォーマー アースライズ) toyline sees their new "brand unification" strategy in full effect. As such, Takara Earthrise toys are completely identical to their Hasbro counterparts, just released in different waves and given new "ID" numbers. Unfortunately for some, a good half of the figures released at regular retail by Hasbro are released as exclusives by Takara in the first wave.

Transformers: BotBots is a toyline released in late 2018, involving small, cartoony, super deformed robot characters who transform into mundane items. These 1-inch tall soft-plastic bots are marketed in the same style as the insanely popular Shopkins toys and other collectible mini-toys. The line is heavily aimed at young children, with wackiness and toilet humor galore.

In the universe of the BotBots, a mysterious cloud of energon gas drifted through a shopping mall, bringing tools, electronics, and even food to life as tiny transforming robots. By day they hide, and by night, mischief aplenty.

BotBots seems to take place in its own continuity; the rare references to extant Transformers universes or incarnations of existing characters seem to indicate those exist as mass-market fiction in this world.

Overview
Each BotBot is a tiny, roughly-1-inch tall PVC-plastic toy that converts from a robot into some other object in a few short, simple steps. Though accessories are exceedingly rare in the line, many BotBots have hands that are compatible with accessories that use 3mm posts.

Each character belongs to a themed team depending on the "store" their alternate mode is found in, though the individual members of the team are spread out among a lot of packages. The three main price points in the line, found in every Series, are:

* Blind Bag Mystery Figures with a single Bot inside
* 5-Packs with two Bots from the pack's theme team, two Bots from two other teams, and an additional blind-packed (but not random) Bot
* 8-Packs with two Bots from the pack's theme team, five Bots from five other teams, and an additional blind-packed (but not random) Bot

There are also several special price points introduced in later Series:

* Arcade Renegades Surprise packs with twelve Bots from the pack's theme team, and four from other teams (well, usually)
* Surprise Unboxing packs with ten individual capsules inside, containing five Bots, one "Winner's Circle" gold Bot, and four stickers

Naturally, there is a ton of overlap, with many figures available in multiple different packs; some Bots can be found in up to four different packages per Series. These redundant Bots are meant to encourage trading among the kids.

In the first three Series, the blind-packed portions are opened by pulling up a tearable flap on the back of the card, revealing a perforated paper layer. The instructions say to then push the plastic bubble with both thumbs to pop the Bot out through the paper, but you can just tear the paper and pull it out too. By Series 4, these tearaway flaps were removed to discourage in-store theft.

The Blind Bag Mystery Figures have individual ID numbers that allow you to tell what toy is inside. For Series 1, these are lightly embossed (by hand, strangely) on the back of the card on the bottom-right, near the pull-up flap. There are clearer, stamped-on ID codes located under the flap, though pulling them up while you're still in the store may get you in trouble. In all later Series, the ID numbers are instead properly printed onto the back of the card, near the top edge under the peg-hook. The blindpacked portions of 5-packs and 8-packs also have hand-embossed numbers to identify the Lost Bot/Winner's Circle Bot inside, but we tell you what's in there anyway, so.

Toys
As each individual toy can appear in multiple multi-packs, this section is... a little more complicated than most. For each Series, we'll first list a complete roster of characters, broken down by their "tribes", then a listing of the individual packages and their contents.
Series "1.5" (2019)
This series features special "color change" BotBots with heat-sensitive paint, revealing splotches when warmed up. It appears to be an "add-on" to Series 1, and includes a modified Series 1 checklist.

It was revealed via Hasbro Australia's website. But its lack of appearance at Toy Fair 2019, as well as apparently not being included in the Transformers BotBots Official Sticker Book, indicate it was originally meant to be a store exclusive; most likely Toys"R"Us, as they are sold through that chain in Canada, Taiwan and Hong Kong. With that chain's US death, Amazon eventually released the Bakery Bytes to US buyers (as would several smaller online outlets well before then), and then a few months later added the Lawn League.

Notes
* The instruction leaflets (as well as the official BotBots website) provide all of the individual BotBot characters with a "Level" of between one and three stars. This corresponds to the illustrated checklist (included in every BotBots package), depicting the BotBots within a shopping mall. To make each BotBot easier to find on the checklist, the one-starred BotBots are on the ground floor, the two-starred BotBots are on the second tier, and the three-starred BotBots are on the top floor. The star rating appears to have no other purpose, and is not a reliable indicator of rarity. 3-Star bots are usually only available in a single pack, but many one-pack-only bots aren't 3-Star rated. None of this is helped by the fact that Series 2 has several discrepancies between the pack-in checklist and website's Levels for many bots.
* Promotional material for Series 1 shows two Bots who are not actually in Series 1, a baseball and a soccer ball. Both were moved to later Series.
* All of the characters introduced thus far are entirely new, separate from any traditional "Generation 1" characters: a rarity in today's Transformers toy market.
* On that note, many characters have Autobot and Decepticon symbols on them (though the latter has not been found on anyone without the former also present). However, it does not appear that this is meant to indicate factional allegiance... but in-universe marketing. Absolutely no mention of the Autobots, Decepticons, Cybertron, or the like is made in the promotional materials, only "energon". Several Bots like Skillz Punk have both faction symbols on them, typically in the context "Autobots vs Decepticons" branding. It looks like in this universe, "Autobots" and "Decepticons" are... well, intellectual property used to advertise products. Meta!
* BotBots easily has the highest percentage of female Transformers in its cast of any Transformers toyline, and by a stunningly wide margin. In the first two series alone, 39 of the 121 characters are female. In fact, it took Transformers as a whole thirty years to approach that number of female toy-characters period, and that's including convention-exclusive offerings! (And not counting toys that had no bio upon release and were later retconned as female.)
