Backtrack was with Overload and Ransack when the latter attacked a young [[Slipstream (RID)|Slipstream]], stealing from him a ball bearing. {{storylink|The Tragedy of Slipstream}} Backtrack was eventually incarcerated onboard the ''[[Alchemor (RID)|Alchemor]]'' when it crash-landed on [[Earth]], and was freed from his stasis pod when [[Fracture (RID)|Fracture]] had [[Airazor (RID)|his own]] [[Divebomb (RID)|Mini-Con companions]] tear it open. Upon emerging, Backtrack displayed little interest towards the Decepticons... but plenty towards the rocks strewn about nearby. Fracture tried to have Backtrack swear allegiance to him, only for [[Ransack (RID Mini-Con)|Ransack]] to unexpectedly emerge from the pod. Both Cyclones then beat up Fracture (with Backtrack using his newly acquired rocks as handy projectiles) and then rolled away. {{storylink|Knock, Knock!}} [[Bumblebee (WFC)|Bumblebee]] and his team soon thereafter detected Backtrack and Ransack's signals. {{storylink|The Power of Dibs}}

Backtrack and Ransack resisted further attempts on Fracture's part to recruit them, knocking the Decepticon into unconsciousness before provoking Airazor and Divebomb into chasing them. {{storylink|Back and Forth}} Their pursuers were intercepted by the Autobot Mini-Cons [[Jetstorm (RID)|Jetstorm]] and Slipstream, who began to squabble with their Decepticon counterparts over which had the best claim to the Cyclones. Backtrack and Ransack quickly lost interest, becoming mesmerized by some nearby rocks. But when Slipstream was knocked into a rock mound they had built, the Cyclones turned their firepower on all four of the other Mini-Cons, forcing them to take cover. {{storylink|A Level Playing Field}} When the aligned Mini-Cons emerged from their hiding place, they managed to work together long enough to defeat both Backtrack and Ransack.
