Paragon was the lover of Cyclonus before being killed. Sentimental and empathetic in contrast with the more reserved Cyclonus, Paragon cared deeply for his partner's mental well-being. His loss was so devastating that Cyclonus retreated from society and couldn't even bear imagining Paragon for a time.
Paragon and Cyclonus were lovers during the War of the Threefold Spark. A romantic, Paragon always dreamed of visiting the world of Neutronia with Cyclonus after everything was done, so he was greatly perturbed when Provoke informed him Turmoil had melted two-thirds of the planet.

Later on during the war, Paragon was captured by Turmoil, and taken off planet when he fled Cybertron. He was still a captive when the war ended, and Nominus Prime declared an amnesty for all the surviving servants of the Threefold Spark. However, Turmoil's ship was pursued by Great General Pyra Magna and Paragon, along with all those onboard, was killed when the ship unexpectedly exploded. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Four War World: Hunt War World: We Are Not Meant To Be Darkness Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part One

Cyclonus's therapist Froid was aware of Cyclonus's relationship with Paragon and frequently implored Cyclonus to reach out to Paragon the same way he had "reached out" to the hallucinatory ghosts of his fallen comrades Gridlock, Grudge, Highfire, and Provoke. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Four Cyclonus refused, finding the mere reminder of Paragon's absence to be too painful. War World: Hunt

Cyclonus finally envisioned Paragon talking to him when he heard from Sixshot that Pyra Magna had been released from prison. Paragon's specter seemed to convince Cyclonus to join the Decepticons and seek revenge on Pyra. War World: Hunt

When Cyclonus finally got his chance to confront the Great General, she surprised him by quietly accepting his vendetta. However, before Cyclonus could deliver the killing blow, Paragon's ghost appeared to him again and prevented him from going through with the act. War World: We Are Not Meant To Be Darkness

Forty cycles later, Provoke was found alive underneath the Memorial Crater. However, something about her behavior was amiss, as she coldly brushed off Cyclonus's attempts to socialize. Paragon's ghost simply advised patience. Lord of Misrule: Enigmatic Despite this, Provoke's behavior continued to unsettle Cyclonus and his hallucinations, as she failed to act how she should have, or recall events as they had properly happened. While the others were uncertain, Paragon asked Cyclonus if any of the information she gave was stuff she could've gleamed from elsewhere, and whether it smelled right to him. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part Two

Finally reaching breaking point, Cyclonus confronted "Provoke", and learned she had been usurped by Exarchon. In order to prevent himself being usurped as well, Cyclonus ripped the spark core out of his friend's body. While the others welcomed the hallucination of Provoke back into the fold, Paragon asked Cyclonus if he was okay. And as it turned out, he was. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part Three Cyclonus went to Decepticon HQ to confront Megatron with the truth of Exarchon's return. Paragon and the other "ghosts" watched as he easily dispatched Gutcruncher and Roughstuff on his way inside. War's End Part One

After Megatron was convinced, Cyclonus accompanied a team of Decepticons to the Sonic Canyons to take care of Exarchon. The other ghosts were certain that Cyclonus had nothing else to live for other than seeing to Exarchon's death, but Paragon urged him to think of a future beyond that. War's End Part Three The Decepticons teamed up with the Autobots to fight Exarchon and Cyclonus was instrumental in the Threefold Spark's final defeat. War's End Part Four

Now ready to leave his ghosts behind, Cyclonus decided to depart Cybertron with the Autobots aboard the Ark. While he allowed his other specters to fade away, Cyclonus bade the hallucination of Paragon to remain with him for a bit longer. Once in flight on the Ark, he told "Paragon" that he would pay a visit to the remains of Neutronia as the real Paragon had wanted for them. After that, Cyclonus felt he'd finally be able to lay his lover's memory to rest. Transformers: Fate of Cybertron
Gridlock, Grudge, Provoke, Paragon, Cyclonus, and Highfire were members of the same unit during the War of the Threefold Spark. Early in the war, the squad was deployed to the Tagan Heights; after Highfire was killed in action, the team fought Turmoil and a swarm of Skywarp drones on the Hydrax Plateau, which ended with Turmoil taking Paragon captive, before fleeing the planet. Gridlock promised Cyclonus that they'd find a way to get his lover back, only for an enemy sniper to shoot him in the head. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part One Gridlock's remains were turned over to Termagax for her to study. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part Two

Two megacycles after the end of the war, Cyclonus witnessed Brainstorm being murdered by an Ascenticon. Shortly thereafter, Windblade and Chromia came investigating. Cyclonus, having gotten used to being alone, refused to tell them what he'd seen. Once the two left, Highfire remarked that he should've told them what he'd seen, since they'd liked Brainstorm, something Gridlock corrected: She had liked Brainstorm. The World In Your Eyes Part Four

While Cyclonus was taking vigil at Memorial Crater, the ghost of Gridlock mocked Cyclonus' mission and insinuated unkind things about his mental state, much to Highfire's chagrin, while insisting that Exarchon was gone and never coming back. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part One

Some time later, the Memorial Crater was badly damaged when the Ascenticons blew up the secret base they'd been keeping beneath it. As Cyclonus mourned, Gridlock merely commented on the waste, remaining silent as the others began squabbling amongst themselves. The Change In Your Nature Part Five Cyclonus's search for answers led him to believe Sixshot was responsible, and he went to Iacon looking for Chromia to get a lead on him, only to be rebuffed by Prowl due to the situation in the Senate building. Gridlock quietly followed on behind. Rise of the Decepticons: We Have Deceived You As the Ascenticons, now renamed Decepticons, staged a violent coup against the Senate, Cyclonus continued to hunt Sixshot, Gridlock's ghost still accompanying him. War World: Awakenings When Cyclonus violently barged his way into Decepticon headquarters, Gridlock remained as taciturn as ever, while the other ghosts bickered. War World: Hunt
After it appeared Provoke had managed to cheat death in the war's final battle, having been found by the Decepticons in the ruins of the crater, Cyclonus went to see her, and the ghostly iteration disappeared, replaced by Paragon. This was a development Gridlock's own ghost approved of, figuring Paragon's presence was healthier than Provoke's. Lord of Misrule: Enigmatic
2019 IDW continuity
A friend of Cyclonus, Provoke fought in the War of the Threefold Spark alongside Gridlock, Grudge, Highfire, and Paragon. Just before a battle at Tagan Heights, it was Provoke who informed Paragon his plans of post-war retirement with Cyclonus to Neutronia were no good, since she'd heard Turmoil had melted half the planet. Later on in the war, after a fight at the Hydrax Plateau, Paragon had been captured and dragged off-world by the fleeing Turmoil. Provoke assured Cyclonus they'd get him back, but the mood was broken by an assailant shooting Gridlock through the head.

Provoke managed to last up until the final fight of the war, which took place on the edge of Iacon. She and Cyclonus were separated during the fighting, and when she found her friend again he was in a state of shock. Provoke reassured him that for Exarchon, the fight was already lost. However, her reassurance was short lived when she was shot through the chest, killing her instantly. The traumatised Cyclonus began seeing a hallucination of Provoke, along with the rest of his friends, bearing the injuries that killed her. Cyclonus's hallucination of Provoke was more waspish and short-tempered than the real thing. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Four War World: Titans Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part One

Her name was inscribed on the Memorial Crater, along with all those who'd fallen in the fight. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part One War World: Hunt Unknown to all, Provoke's body had been found by the Threefold Spark and usurped, keeping 'her' alive, albeit half-buried underneath the crater. War World: Titans Lord of Misrule: Enigmatic War's End Part One

At Provoke's behest, Cyclonus took up a solitary vigil of the Memorial Crater – the site where the War of the Threefold Spark ended – though some of the other ghosts such as Highfire and Gridlock questioned this mission. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part One One night, the ghosts and Cyclonus witnessed the murder of Brainstorm. Shortly thereafter, Windblade and Chromia came to the crater while investigating, and got into a fight with Cyclonus, who denied causing the murder, and declined to tell the two what he'd seen. The hallucination of Provoke commented afterward that it didn't matter, because if Cybertron thought one death was important, they'd forgotten what real trouble looked like. The World In Your Eyes Part Four

Soon after, the Memorial Crater was leveled as a result of Windblade and Chromia's battle with The Rise. While Cyclonus brooded at the ruin's edge, his hallucination of Provoke suggested he go and kill the parties responsible, either to stop them doing worse, or as an attempt at healing Cyclonus's mental scars. The Change In Your Nature Part Five

As Cyclonus went to Iacon to look for Chromia, hoping he could lead her to Sixshot, the other ghosts noticed the tension of the crowd around them. Cyclonus wasn't interested, regarding it as not his fight. Provoke merely commented it wasn't his fight yet. Rise of the Decepticons: We Have Deceived You When Cyclonus found Sixshot's trail, it was Provoke who commented the hunt was on. War World: Awakenings When the trail led to one Decepticon hideout, and an uncooperative guard at the front door, Provoke told Grudge to stop cheering Cyc on and allow him to focus. War World: Hunt

In the aftermath of the Titan Cargohold crashing into the Memorial Crater, the body of Provoke was found in the rubble by the Decepticons Roadtrap and Gutcruncher. War World: Titans Assuming his friend was alive again meant that Cyclonus stopped seeing her ghost inside his mind, replacing her with Paragon, a move Gridlock's hallucination found preferable. In reality, "Provoke" was really the returned Exarchon, who soon took Ruckus and Flatline as additional bodies for his Threefold Spark. Lord of Misrule: Enigmatic

Though Cyclonus was eager to reconnect with Provoke, Exarchon consistently failed to fully mimic her mannerisms. When Cyclonus' curiosity became too annoying, Exarchon saw fit to abandon Provoke's body for Cyclonus' own, only for the warrior to cut out and destroy Provoke's spark chamber. As a result, her hallucination returned to Cyclonus, her friends welcoming her back. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part Three Cyclonus proceeded to cut off Provoke's head, bringing it to Megatron as proof that Exarchon had returned. War's End Part One Cyclonus joined the Decepticons in going after Exarchon, the Threefold Spark having been discovered in the Sonic Canyons. Cyclonus very nearly perished in the first attack, saved only by the last moment intervention of Jumpstream. As the Autobots and Decepticons discussed a temporary alliance, Cyclonus and his ghostly retinue talked a plan of attack. Grudge and Gridlock advocation a full-on attack, since Cyclonus didn't care much about his own death. Provoke commented that the timing mattered, and that Exarchon had to die first, if nothing else. War's End Part Three Cyclonus continued to watch as the Autobots and Decepticons came to a temporary alliance, much to Grudge's irritation. Provoke told him to go easy, citing the presence of the newly arrived Constructicons in the valley. While Grudge continued to advocate going for Exarchon, Provoke held it was better to actually have a plan first, though Cyclonus didn't hear her as he had noticed some incoming Decepticons.

Soon enough, thanks to Cyclonus, Exarchon was finally destroyed for good. War's End Part Four With that, he held that the War of the Threefold Spark was truly over and therefore the ghosts of his friends could finally rest. At his words, Provoke's ghost faded away one last time. Transformers: Fate of Cybertron
Once the War ended, Cyclonus took up vigil at the Iacon Memorial Crater. Two megacycles after the war, he witnessed the murder of Brainstorm from a distance. Chromia insisted Cyclonus make his way into the city to tell security services what he knew, but once she was gone Highfire inquired as to whether he would.
A short time later, the memorial crater was badly damaged by the Ascenticons destroying a base they'd secretely maintained underneath it. As Cyclonus took in the damage, Highfire noted he was angry. Discussion turned to Cyclonus's own mental health, and Highfire suggested bringing in Paragon, citing Froid's argument that the pain would dissolve Cyclonus's anger and guilt, a stance Provoke's ghost disagreed with. The discussion was interrupted by Hot Spot getting Cyc's attention, and revealing Sixshot was the presumed culprit. The Change In Your Nature Part Five Looking to find Chromia so he could find Sixshot, Cyclonus went to Iacon. Several cycles afterwards, Cyclonus learned the real Provoke had been found alive and supposedly well beneath the remains of the memorial crater, utterly destroyed in the Decepticon uprising. ===2019 IDW continuity===
A friend of Cyclonus, Grudge was killed during the War of the Threefold Spark. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part One During peacetime, Cyclonus developed a coping mechanism by conversing with the hallucinatory "ghosts" of Grudge, Highfire, Gridlock, and Provoke while taking solitary vigil at Memorial Crater. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Four During Cyclonus' encounter with Flamewar, Grudge's ghost manifested itself and remarked on Flamewar's choice of weaponry. The Cracks Beneath Your Feet Part Two

Grudge was present alongside Cyclonus to witness the ruins of the Memorial Crater, which had been desecrated under Sixshot's orders, commenting on Cyclonus’s mental state. The Change In Your Nature Part Five He subsequently accompanied Cyclonus on his hunt for Sixshot, remarking that the incoming fight would be very satisfying as he entered the Decepticon Headquarters. War World: Hunt

When Provoke was supposedly discovered alive, Grudge conferred with the other ghosts of Cyclonus’s squadron on her unusual behavior, noting strange coincidences between the behaviors of Provoke and Ruckus. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part Two During Cyclonus’s confrontation with Provoke outside of the medical center, he witnessed the ensuing fight and expressed that her revival might have been due to Exarchon, though he remained skeptical until Provoke’s spark, and Exarchon with it, was destroyed. Darkness, Once Gazed Upon: Part Three

Grudge briefly appeared as Cyclonus approached Megatron’s headquarters with the evidence of Exarchon’s revival. War's End Part One He reappeared at the Sonic Canyons, after Cyclonus’s near-death experience with Onslaught. He agreed with Gridlock that the best course of action was to not wait around with the others and go to kill Exarchon in lieu of more extensive planning, even with the Constructicons combined within the canyons, a fact he noted would not change no longer how long they waited. War's End Part Three

Upon the death of Exarchon by Cyclonus’s actions and the end of the War of the Threefold Spark, Grudge was finally let to rest, dismissed by Cyclonus as his ghost faded away one last time. Transformers: Fate of Cybertron
