Train Wars
When The Fallen attacked Cybertron in the hopes of merging with Vector Sigma, Overdrive sought additional help using the power of his Quantum Dial. Further empowering the dial with the help of the Oracle, Overdrive reached across space and time to recruit a policebot of Sunstreaker's body-design and other inter-dimensional warriors. Train Wars The Fallen assumed a combination form, however, and managed to impale the reinforcements using energy spikes. Metroplex, the Trainbots, the Train Team, and the Liner Team soon arrived to turn the tide, and the Fallen was ultimately defeated. In the aftermath, the dimensional travelers were returned home by the Omnibots. Train Wars 2
While lost on the battlefield, Cordon was recruited into the Autobots. However, during training, Cordon was accused of aiding the enemy and participating in violent acts himself, resulting in an indictment. Cordon was found guilty, but subsequent investigation revealed his memory loss and, deeming him incapable of moral judgment and hoping to repair his glitch, the Autobots sentenced Cordon to 300 years of community service. He was assigned to a planet newly settled by humans; they were initially wary of such a green soldier, but Cordon's skills managed to overturn their first impressions. His accomplishments caught the notice of the Decepticons, and Garboil met with Cordon in an attempt to lure him into joining the Cobalt Sentries, noting that the Autobot would look nice in blue. #Masterpiece
A bot of mysterious and confusing origins, Spin-Out was originally a lifeless human-piloted mecha. Though circumstances not yet fully understood, he was turned into a fully-sparked Cybertronian. He actually remembers his previous "life", which has bred in him a fierce loyalty to humans, to the point where he's actively uncomfortable operating without human supervision, which stands in odd contrast to his often hot-headed and brash nature.

Fiction
Of Masters and Mayhem
Spin-Out was the cook in a five hundred strong Autobot force but being the 49th highest ranking officer means you still become the commanding officer when forty eight other 'bots are dead! After a destructive, 17-cycle "holding action", the Autobots technically won but Spin-Out was left depressed by the wreckage, the amount dead, and the fact that people like Outback thought he should feel proud he "stepped up". And he couldn't even sit down in case it was on a corpse!

Things couldn't get worse.

Then his remaining men took a Decepticon called Toxitron prisoner... who turned out to be a walking acid spill who had intentionally been "captured". Everybody died, including Spin-Out, and the cook's rotting head was later used to let Toxitron falsely register as having an Autobot transponder.

So that's worse. The Toxic Transformer
Spin-Out was originally a human-piloted Diaclone mecha from another dimension. He was transported to the universe of the Transformers, but deposited in the Diadem space facility over ten million years in the past. The Anterior Zeta system in the installation was able to convert Spin-Out into a fully-living Cybertronian life-form and then put him into stasis as an emergency fallback, having studied the mecha's databanks and learning of the Waruder threat.

Ten million years later, Delta Magnus investigated the remains of the Diadem station, which had been devastated in a battle between the Decepticons and Quintessons, while searching for ancient Cybertronian data, including the stored original memories of his teammate Cordon. He discovered Spin-Out, who promptly activated, ready to fight for freedom. Delta Magnus also found the lost memory banks, but Cordon declined to install them. #Toys
