'''GEEWUN''' is a snarky [[fandom|fan]] term for people who seem to have knee-jerk negative reactions to, and continuing difficulty in tolerating any of the post-[[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]] (aka "G1") incarnations of the [[Transformers brand|Transformers property]] (keeping in mind that for some, "post-G1" means "anything after 1985"). Sometimes, the term is also used to refer to fans who only enjoy G1 and ''[[Beast Wars (franchise)|Beast Wars]]'', with it being a sequel franchise to the original.

The earliest recorded use of the term "Geewun" (spelled as a normal word, not in all caps) originated with a [http://www.tfarchive.com TFArchive.com] user named Cliffjumper, who first used it in January of 2003.<ref>[http://web.archive.org/web/20090414115018/http://www.tfarchive.com/community/showthread.php?t=13192 First known usage of the term on the TFArchive boards on January 2003]</ref> Since he has a tendency of coming up with mocking puns based on existing names and fandom terms, it's possible that he did indeed coin the term. The term didn't see widespread use until 2004, when it was apparently spread to other parts of the fandom (including [[alt.toys.transformers]]) by [[User:Nevermore|Nevermore]], himself a regular member of TF Archive. While the phenomenon of placing Generation 1 above everything else is [[Trukk not munky|nothing new]], when the [[Transformers (film)|2007 live-action movie]] was in production, the [[fandom]] experienced an ongoing influx of mindlessly angry "Generation X" members who seemed to regard ''[[Transformers brand|Transformers]]'' not as a still-evolving cultural institution and [[To sell toys|business property]], but as a sacred relic of their halcyon, Reagan-era childhoods. These bitter young people made their voices heard by preemptively denouncing the movie... not because it would [[Ruined FOREVER|ruin Transformers forever]], but because it would [[Transformers: Kiss Players (franchise)|"rape their childhoods"]] by deviating from their rose-colored—and often [[Misconceptions and urban legends about Transformers| incorrect]]—memories of the first two seasons of the original cartoon. The singularly unfortunate phrase "[so-and-so] RAPED MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!" quickly became one of the more memorable used by this group, and used in criticism by this group's detractors, in which it seems to have taken on a life of its own and overtaken the original usage... so it goes.

For some reason, many GEEWUNNERS were particularly incensed by the fact that [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] (the truck guy, not the tape guy) had flames painted on him, a detail that [[Michael Bay]] claims to have received death threats over. It probably would have been okay if the flames were [[Optimus Prime (G1)/toys#Generation 2|burning down some forests]], though.

The term is ''not'' intended as a catch-all nickname for ''anybody'' who likes Generation 1, only those who refuse to accept anything other than it (or at least how ''they'' remember it, correctly or not). It is, alas, often used in this way by those who do ''not'' like Generation 1 and are seeking to insult those who do. Additionally, "Geewunners" themselves sometimes trot the term around as evidence of "persecution", in the process misconstruing the term to make it appear worse (i.e., claiming that people that use the term hate Generation 1 and everyone who likes it).

Much like how [[Ruined FOREVER]] spread to [http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Wookieepedia:Ruined_FOREVER other] fandoms, the ''[[Pokeformers|Pokémon]]'' fandom uses the term "Genwunner" to describe fans who only like the original set of games (and occasionally the first pair of sequels, which are - wait for it - [[Beast Wars (franchise)|immediate sequels to the originals]]). Go figure!

Are there fan group terms that center on people who '''only like''' certain continuities like Movie verse, TFA, Unicron Trilogy, or whatever to the exclusion of all else? The only terms I keep coming across are Geewunners and Geewhiners. If there are, why not at least list them either within the [[Fandom]] page or make a page for just the terms for different kinds of fans? Thus far, these are all the terms for fan groups I've come across:

SPARKERS: Typically adult TF fans who are not afraid of the more "sexual" aspects of the fandom, generally to PG13 rating, including TF romances and relationships. "Well, at least you acknowledge the fact that TF's, though fictional, have emotions and relationships."
These can include fans who fall in love with certain characters beyond simply being a favourite. 
HIGH VOLTAGE SPARKERS: Typically adult TF fans who take TF to the level of XXX rating. This can also include fans who want to/like to have sex with their TF's.</blockquote>

::The terms Sparkers and High Voltage Sparkers apparently came about with the live action movies and I found out about those through a friend who frequents MUCK chats and forums, and I've run into the others here and there on line (mostly on art sites like DA). As for the existence of fans who only like a certain continuity that isn't G1, I've run into those (mostly TFA fans, but still) and they're every bit as freakishly rabid as Geewunners, just never found actual terms for them. :Being "too into" something is common with any geekdom, and has been since "Trekkie" became a term. What makes Geewunners unique, at least among fans who I've met in person, is that they're largely fans who seemingly haven't cared since '86 or '87, which should logically make them casual fans by other standards. Fair enough. And yet, when anything Transformers-related from after their personal cutoff point comes up, they actually become enraged at the very idea that TF continued to exist while they weren't paying attention. "I'm so obsessed with ____ that I'd have sex with it if I somehow could," is a concept most people can understand, but, "I love TF so much that I'm ''furious'' it didn't die back when it was supposed to!" is confusing enough to those who haven't seen it happen to make it noteworthy. I basically figured out a somewhat long list of similarities between the respective fandoms of GEEWUNNERS and Genwunners (putting it here in case it's deleted from the article):

In fact, the similarities don't end there:
* Genwunners hold ''Red'' and ''Blue'' in the highest regard despite having features overshadowed by later incarnations/games (be it a shallow storyline or [[animation error|off-model graphics and glitches]]).
* The most popular character with Genwunners is believed to be [[Optimus Prime (G1)|a big, red-colored badass dragon that was one of the most prominently featured Pokémon at the time, and was also the most powerful "good guy" on the heroes' team in his cartoon series]]. (Also, Pikachu, the [[kid-appeal character]] who [[Bumblebee (G1)|tended to be the closest to the main human character in the same series]], doesn't seem to get quite as much attention - but that's a different story.)
* The only other games that Genwunners sometimes like are ''Gold'' and ''Silver''. * The games that gets the most hate from Genwunners are ''Black'' and ''White'', which are [[Movie (franchise)|radical re-imaginings of the franchise that prominently feature and revolve around the human characters]], and [[Devastator (ROTF)|various Pokémon incorporate vulgar elements in their stories and designs]] (for example, one Pokémon is based on a walking pile of garbage, and another Pokémon has feces that ancient people used to keep warm). Furthermore, the cover legendaries are [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|a peaceful-looking, blue-eyed dragon with flames]] and [[Megatron (Movie)|a mechanical-looking dragon with red eyes, sharp teeth and a complicated design]].

Are there fan group terms that center on people who '''only like''' certain continuities like Movie verse, TFA, Unicron Trilogy, or whatever to the exclusion of all else? The only terms I keep coming across are Geewunners and Geewhiners. If there are, why not at least list them either within the [[Fandom]] page or make a page for just the terms for different kinds of fans? Thus far, these are all the terms for fan groups I've come across:
