:Prowl is an Autobot and Maximal from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Prowl is the Autobot military strategist. As such, Autobot Commander Optimus Prime keeps Prowl near at hand for his indispensable expertise. Prowl is quiet, competent, loyal, and possessed of almost endless patience.

Prowl's dedication to logic and reason make him an excellent strategist, but not much of a socialite. He really doesn't tend to get along well with his fellow Autobots, many of whom find his strict adherence to military protocol stifling, and his uptight personality sure doesn't help matters. He does not react well to the unexpected, to the point that it can literally scramble his cerebral circuits. The Dinobot commander Grimlock, who is disorder made manifest, especially honks Prowl off, and Grimlock feels pretty much the same way in return, only with more swear words. He's very fond of his acid pellets, though.

Generation 1
noteukonly
Before Optimus became leader, Prowl was part of the self-styled Magnificent Six, a team of Autobot warriors who would be tortured and humiliated by the sadistic Megadeath. The Magnificent Six!

Prowl was one of the select Autobots chosen by Optimus Prime to travel aboard the Ark, and ended up in stasis lock for four million years at the base of Mount St. Hilary with the rest of the crew. Once the volcano exploded, Optimus chose Prowl to lead the first away mission into civilization. The Transformers (issue) Like most of the Autobots, though, he soon ran out of energy without any option of refueling on Earth, and suffered even greater injuries when the Ark and the deactivated Autobots aboard were taken over by Shockwave and the Decepticons. He was eventually revived when Ratchet and the Dinobots reclaimed control of the Ark from Shockwave's drone, Guardian. The Wrath of Guardian!

With Optimus Prime's head still in Decepticon possession, Prowl took command of the Autobots until their true leader could be restored. At Jazz's suggestion, he forged an alliance with human fuel magnate G.B. Blackrock, arranging an exchange of free gasoline for the Autobots for their help in protecting Blackrock's facilities from the Decepticons. DIS-Integrated Circuits! The Autobots were eventually successful in recovering Prime's head, and restoring him to functionality, but Prowl suffered some injuries battling the Decepticons and a false Prime in the process. Prime Time!

Shortly thereafter, Prowl was the ringleader of a group of Autobots strongly requesting that Prime use his Creation Matrix to create Ultimate Autobot super-warriors to wipe out the Decepticons for them. The lethal efficiency of Prowl's stance was just as strongly opposed by another faction who saw such action as a perversion of their sacred lifeforce, and the potential for laying waste to Earth. Prime's long absence and relative weakness after his recent ordeals left Prowl and the others less deferential than normal to his will, but after he singlehandedly fought through the Decepticons to rescue Bumblebee, Prowl and the other Ultimate Autobot proponents backed down and accepted Prime's final word on the subject. Crisis of Command! When the Dinobots were driven feral by their primitive circuitry, Prowl nearly sacrificed himself crashing a shuttlecraft straight into the feuding Grimlock and Sludge. Dinobot Hunt!

Prowl was displaced to Limbo along with Optimus Prime and Ratchet when Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge time-traveled from the future. Target: 2006 Joined later by Shockwave, Thundercracker and Frenzy, they found themselves in the middle of a war between the peaceful, cat-like Cloran and evil, monkey-like invaders led by Zenag. Distant Thunder! When Galvatron's group returned to their own time, Prowl was released from Limbo.

Prowl was next in action during the Battlechargers' rampage, and attempted to bring them in despite the endangerment of human life. ...Perchance to Dream Deactivated by means unknown, Ratchet did manage to briefly revive him in order to exploit Prowl's police car mode against a human thief named the Mechanic who had infiltrated the Ark. Funeral for a Friend! Prowl was fully revived in time for Grimlock and Blaster's grudge match on the moon, and fought alongside the combined crews of the Ark and Steelhaven against the Decepticon party-crashers. Totaled! Unfortunately, it wasn't too long afterwards that Prowl was once again knocked off-line, this time battling the Underbase-charged Starscream in New York. Dark Star

He would remain in stasis for some time, until Grimlock acquired a large supply of super-energy known as Nucleon, and pumped it into all of the Ark's stasis chambers. Prowl found himself revived just in time to engage the Chaos-Bringer known as Unicron for the sake of all Cybertron, and then bury his longterm friend and leader, Optimus Prime, who sacrificed himself to destroy Unicron. On the Edge of Extinction! At Prime's last request, Prowl reluctantly supported Grimlock as new leader of the Autobots. While Grimlock pursued his own interests, though, Prowl found himself working almost alone trying to maintain the tenuous peace between the Autobots and Decepticons. He ended up overplaying his hand, and gave Decepticon leader Bludgeon a chance to betray the Autobots, leaving them trapped on the dying world of Cybertron, without transport, while the Decepticons fled to conquer new civilizations. Exodus! Luckily for Prowl, Grimlock had anticipated the Decepticons' treachery (by Primus, how'd he manage that?!?) and had secured alternate starships. The Autobots chased their foes to the planet of Klo and, thanks to the resurrection of Optimus Prime and the arrival of the Last Autobot, managed to drive off Bludgeon's forces, sending them into at least temporary exile. End of the Road! (US)

In an alternate 2009, Prowl was one of only seven Autobots left alive after Galvatron and his Decepticons took over America. With Cybertron destroyed by Unicron and the various Primes dead, things looked bleak. Prowl and Jazz led a last-ditch assault on the Decepticon fortress and, miraculously, managed to send a signal to the rest of the world that America was still alive and fighting. When some mysterious travelers shang-haied Galvatron from the field of battle, Prowl joined Jazz and Inferno (the last of their kind) in fighting alongside their human allies with renewed vigor. Perhaps the war could yet be won! Rhythms of Darkness!

Earthforce
earthforcefiction

Deactivated following his battle with the Underbase-enhanced Starscream, Prowl lay recuperating within a lifepod in the Ark for months, until the Galvatron of a parallel future intervened. Using a "mind bug" device, Galvatron manipulated the baser instincts of several Autobots, attempting to revive them as pawns he could use for his own purposes. Instead they revived intent on opposing him. Prowl joined Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Ironhide and Silverbolt in overpowering and capturing the renegade Decepticon. Wheeljack cobbled together a device that turned Galvatron's own technology against him, and Prowl slapped it on the villain's head, leaving him trapped in his own nightmares. ...Perchance to Dream

As the days passed, Prowl attempted to readjust to the war, despite how it had changed around him. Along with Wheeljack, he lamented about the proliferation of newer types of Transformers, claiming these newcomers gave him a headache just thinking about them. Luckily, their patrol turned up several familiar enemies, including the Constructicons and Stunticons working under Megatron's command. Megatron had formulated a scheme to destroy Earth's atmosphere with a deadly rocket, and reap the excess energy that would no longer be filtered out before reaching the planet's surface. Starting Over! While Wheeljack engaged the Decepticons, Prowl leaped aboard the flying rocket, knocking it off course so that its deadly poison never reached the proper altitude. Desert Island Risks! He crashed down in the backwoods of Louisiana, and befriended some locals who helped fix him up over the next few days. Prowl also neutralized the rocket's poison, and got a good chuckle out of watching the two Decepticon factions arrive days later and begin fighting over a useless cargo. Life in the Slow Lane

A new team of Autobots called Earthforce had been formed, partly to help recover Prowl and the atmospheric rocket, and he quickly joined the organization once reunited with his fellow Autobots. Working under Grimlock's overall command, Prowl acted as second lieutenant, providing a voice of reason and strategy for the Dinobot Commander. On one occasion, Prowl sabotaged Megatron's attempt to alter the timeline using a Flashback Doorway. The two opponents traveled back in time to the battle with Starscream, where Megatron possessed the body of Snaptrap, and attempted to lead the Seacons to safety in order to receive their services in the present. Prowl possessed his own past form and ensured the Seacons' destruction before returning to the present. Flashback! He also talked Grimlock into accepting the Survivors into Earthforce, and joined them in assaulting the island base of the Mayhem Attack Squad. Where Wolf?

When the Autobot Earthbase was finished, Prowl gathered with all the other Autobots outside to witness Wheeljack's handiwork. Ever cautious and critical, Prowl commented on the noticeable lack of defenses. Wheeljack then turned on the defense grid and tossed a rock towards the base, triggering a series of underground weapon systems that annihilated the projectile. Prowl still wasn't convinced, and began asking how the defenses might be knocked off-line once activated. Wheeljack assured him the defenses were so completely fool proof that NO ONE could shut them off once they had been activated unless they were sitting at the control console inside the base. Prowl then gave Wheeljack his "Everybody's dumb but me" look, and did a headcount of the entire Earthforce who had come outside for the demonstration... meaning no one was inside who could shut off the deadly defense grid. In order to get back inside their base, Prowl volunteered to brave the perils and reach the console himself. With Jazz, Bumblebee and the Aerialbots spotting him, Prowl navigated his way through lasers, Heat Seekers, Acid Bats, and electrified tentacles before finally shutting off the system. The House that Wheeljack Built!

Later on, Snarl began suffering from a case of Corrodia Gravis, and the Autobots were forced to go to Starscream in order to get a compatible systems boost to save the Dinobot's life. Not destined to be an easy mission in the best of cases, Prowl, Ironhide and the remaining Dinobots walked in on an assassination in progress and the former Decepticon leaders attempted to remove the current ones from their former thrones. As was often the case, it fell on Prowl to re-explain to Grimlock why it wasn't a good thing that Starscream's life was in danger. External Forces! After Megatron, Shockwave and their assassins were chased off, Prowl and Grimlock made a deal with Starscream to gain his help, in exchange for agreeing to step in if Megatron ever tried to overthrow their current Decepticon regime again. The Lesser Evil!

When Bombshell injected Superion with a cerebro-shell and caused him to go wild, Earthforce was in dire straits trying to find a means of stopping the warrior juggernaut. Prowl found a human reporter on the scene named Irwin Spoon, and made a deal with him for an exclusive interview in exchange for Irwin's help removing the shell from the inside. Inside Story! Irwin was successful and got his interview. Prowl hoped the good publicity would help the Autobots establish better relations with humanity, despite Grimlock's grumbling. It seemed the Decepticons had the same notion, and so Starscream and Soundwave sent the Stunticons to kidnap Irwin from Earthbase before he could publish his story, taking him right out from under Prowl's olfactory receptor. Front Line! (issue) Prowl tried to chase down Motormaster and recover the human, but was bashed off the side of the highway, and had to be recovered by Wheeljack. End of the Road! (UK)

Along with the surviving Magnificent Six and Silverbolt, Prowl once more faced Megadeath in 1990 and, encouraged by Silverbolt to overcome the past, helped beat Megadeath half to death. The Magnificent Six!

"Another Time & Place"
Several months after the incident on Klo, Prowl caught wind of Grimlock running off on his own again, this time back to Hydrus Four. Prowl alerted Optimus Prime at Nova Point to the situation, but was surprised when his leader harshly rebuked him for bringing it to his attention. When Prime made it clear he didn't want anything to do with Prowl's report, the Autobot strategist stormed off to consider the problem himself. After some solitary computation, Prowl decided that the threat of Decepticons following Grimlock to Hydrus Four and acquiring Nucleon was too perilous to ignore. He was rushing out of his chambers, ready to throw together a squad of Autobots regardless of what Optimus Prime thought, when he ran smack into Optimus himself. Prime apologized to Prowl for "hiding his head in the sand"—he had wanted the war to be over so badly, for his fellow Autobots' sake and not his, that he was willing to ignore an obvious threat. The two old friends shook hands and proceeded to gather their strike team.

On Hydrus Four, Prowl joined a small group of commandos including Springer, Blaster, Nightbeat and Ironhide to scout the enemy position. They dispatched Fangry with little effort, and sent in Roadhandler and some Micromasters to free Grimlock and the Dinobots quietly before the main offensive began. Nothing ever goes quietly with the Dinobots, though, and so once the shooting started inside, the Aerialbots were sent in to bomb the facility and let the Decepticons know they were in for it. Prowl and his fellow Autobots assaulted the base and, in little time at all, Bludgeon and his crew were dismantled and the day was won yet again. Another Time & Place
When Optimus Prime and Grimlock discovered the threat of the Cybertronians, they called in Autobots scattered across the galaxy, including Prowl. As one of Prime's most loyal supporters, Prowl did not participate in Grimlock's ill-advised strike on the Liege Centuro and his fleet. Devices and Desires! (Marvel) Still, Prowl would not completely ignore Grimlock's opinions: when Optimus Prime decreed that he be left alone to entreat Megatron for peace, Grimlock convinced Prowl that Prime made a bad call, and they arrived with a rescue battalion just in time to keep Megatron from destroying his old nemesis. The Gathering Darkness Prowl continued serving the Autobot cause, and was present when they attempted to stop the genocide of the planet Ethos by the Cybertronians. Escalation!
Prowl was part of the crew of the Ark, the Autobot starship that left Cybertron looking for alternate sources of energy. While enroute he monitored the Viewtrex and detected the Decepticons pursuing them. The Decepticons boarded and the ensuing conflict caused the Ark to crashland on Earth. Four million years later, the Transformers were reawakened by the eruption of the volcano the Ark had crashed in and reformatted by Teletraan I. Prowl was reformatted as a Datsun 280Z police car. When the Autobots first fought the Decepticons on Earth, aboard an oceanic oil refinery, Prowl teamed with Jazz in shooting up the Decepticons' supply of energon cubes. More than Meets the Eye, Part 1

The two Autobots worked together again when Soundwave invaded the Ark for information. The crafty Decepticon got away, but Prowl and Jazz managed to capture his pet, Ravage, in a solid energy net. Prowl joined the Autobots for their subsequent battles at Sherman Dam and the ruby crystal mines of Burma. More than Meets the Eye, Part 2 During the final fight at the Decepticon space cruiser, Prowl ran over Starscream's null-ray before he could "activate" it. More than Meets the Eye, Part 3

Prowl and the Autobots next battled the Decepticons at a solar power station. Prowl and Ratchet attempted to stop Starscream and Skywarp from escaping with the energon cubes, but Starscream started launching concussive blasts, knocking aside their lasers and driving them back. Later that day, Prowl zapped Megatron during a cave fight, but was then clubbed from behind by Skywarp. That's snow fair. Transport to Oblivion

During an attack against the Decepticons, Prowl's battle computer was knocked offline by a particularly fierce blow. Crippled, Prowl extended his antenna to seek out an online computer that he could patch into. He found Chip Chase's desktop terminal, and the young human ally momentarily took control of Prowl, animating the Autobot warrior with his computer. Chip and Prowl handily defeated the Decepticons, and the Autobot remarked that Chip was a human after his own central processor. Roll for It After Optimus Prime suffered some brief but severe injuries, Prowl was present with the other Autobots in defending the Ark, as the Decepticons attempted to press their advantage. Divide and Conquer

Prowl was also among the Autobots who took an unpleasant number of hits trying to calm down the rampaging Dinobots. S.O.S. Dinobots He held no grudges, though, and participated in the construction of two new Dinobots a few months later, using laser bursts to cut up raw materials for the design. Still, he showed a bit more caution than his fellow Autobots during the "play fighting" tests of Snarl and Swoop. While Ironhide, Bluestreak and Sideswipe went in for close quarters combat with the Dinos (and subsequently got bashed around quite a bit), Prowl stuck to long-range laser fire, and managed to avoid getting his head handed to him. War of the Dinobots

After Sparkplug Witwicky was kidnapped, Prowl was shown acting as a strategist for once, constructing battle-plans using Hound's holographic maps for reference. He coordinated a two-pronged rescue mission on the Decepticon's sunken space cruiser, from above and below. While he and the main Autobot force dropped in on the Decepticons from above and drew their fire, Cliffjumper, Brawn and Windcharger used their special abilities to tunnel right underneath the base, breaking in and freeing Sparkplug before the Decepticons got wind of it. The Ultimate Doom, Part 1 He remained active with the Autobot forces as they dealt with Cybertron's newfound proximity to Earth. The Ultimate Doom, Part 2 Prowl later surfed into battle against the Decepticons, but the resulting tidal wave allowed Megatron to escape before the fight even started. A small contingent of Autobots eventually tracked the Decepticon energon shuttle to a tropical coast, and engaged them in battle. The fully charged Decepticons soon began to overpower the Autobots, however, driving them back to the safety of some convenient trenches. Prowl attempted to suggest a strategic regrouping, but Prime wouldn't hear of it. Luckily, Skyfire arrived with reinforcements from Cybertron to even the odds. As Megatron retreated, the Autobots were left to deal with a tidal wave large enough to wipe out all life on Earth. Prowl calculated they would need an explosion equivalent to 10 billion astro-liters of energy to knock Cybertron out of Earth's orbit and reverse the tidal wave. At Spike's suggestion, the Autobots took aim at Megatron's fleeing starship, igniting the energon cubes inside to expel Cybertron from orbit and save the Earth. The Ultimate Doom, Part 3 After the devastation, Prowl was seen helping repair human civilization, and hunting down the loose ends left by the Decepticons' schemes. Countdown to Extinction (episode) Prowl also bore witness to the gladiatorial combat between Megatron and Optimus Prime. Heavy Metal War
After Sparkplug Witwicky created a metallic Frankenstein called Autobot X, to the abject surprise of no one it suddenly ran amok. Prowl, Ironhide and Trailbreaker stood up to the crazed creation, and Prowl used his acid pellets to incapacitate Autobot X. Later that day, Spike Witwicky was injured during a battle with the Decepticons at a rocket base. Prowl provided a "police escort" for Ratchet to get Spike to a hospital as quickly as possible. Autobot Spike As the Decepticons staged a daring raid at the Ark's front door, Prowl drove out to meet them in combat. He had to dodge and transform in mid-air to avoid Thundercracker's missiles, and ended up being divebombed by Laserbeak anyhow. Prowl got back at the tinfoil turkey by strapping a wire-guided bola onto his rifle, and lassoing the Decepticon bird as he swooped by for another pass. Despite the laser blasts hurled his way, Prowl held tight to his catch until Laserbeak severed the rope and fled. When he went back to recharge at headquarters, a ploy by Megatron altered his personality components and he went on an angry red-eyed rampage with the rest of the altered Autobots until their circumstances were overturned. Attack of the Autobots
Prowl overheard Cliffjumper's infamous accusations about Mirage's loyalty, but neglected to participate in the retrieval of the missing electro-cells. Traitor He also played a minor role in recovering the Immobilizer, The Immobilizer and joined his fellow Autobots in a race for charity, which Spike and Chip had arranged for them. The Autobot Run Prowl was part of the Autobot strike unit dispatched to Washington, D.C. when it came under attack by the Decepticons and Sub-Atlanticans. He, Hound and Brawn engaged the Decepticons near the Washington Monument, until King Nergill zapped them with his paralyzing ray. Prowl remained inactive until the Dinobots joined the party, and Grimlock destroyed the ray, freeing the incapacitated Autobots. Atlantis, Arise!

Next, the Autobots responded to an SOS when the super-computer called TORQ III ran amok. Unfortunately, they discovered TORQ was capable of controlling other simple machines in the area, and so Prowl and the others found themselves facing a horde of angry droids. Prowl was nearly swallowed whole by a mechanical scoop, until he fired an acid pellet down its gullet and corroded its inner workings. Day of the Machines Prowl was among the Autobots who failed to prevent the Decepticons from stealing the female ninja robot called Nightbird. While discussing the Decepticons' possible plans for Nightbird with Spike, Prowl was unaware the ninja herself was right above them on the Ark's elevator. Enter the Nightbird

Prowl charged the Decepticon flank when the Transformers were fighting over korlonium crystals. A Prime Problem Prowl and Sunstreaker were part of a group of Autobots patrolling a riverbed...until they discovered the riverbed wasn't there anymore. Tracing the diverted water, they came across the Constructicons and a Decepticon scheme to drill down to Earth's core. Megatron sicced Devastator on Prowl's team, forcing them to retreat for reinforcements. Back at the Ark, the Autobots cooked up a plot to use dominator discs and gain control over the Constructicons whenever they formed Devastator. As part of a commando raiding party, Prowl and the others lured the Constructicons out into the open. Under the cover of night, Prowl slipped a disk on Scrapper, and soon all the Constructicons had disks planted on them. Although the Autobots temporarily gained control of Devastator, Megatron soon negated their control and retrieved his giant warrior. The Core
Prowl was present in the Ark during yet another display of the Dinobots' talent for chaos. Dinobot Island, Part 1 After the Dinobots moved to a mysterious prehistoric island, time portals began opening all over North America. Prowl defeated the cattle rustlers by melting their guns with his acid pellets. Dinobot Island, Part 2 Like all the Autobots, Prowl was temporarily banished into space by the citizens of Central City, thanks to Megatron's carefully orchestrated smear campaign. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1 He eventually returned with the others for an all-out assault on the Decepticons and re-established the Autobots' good name. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2 Prowl was also subject to cybertonium depletion, although he was ultimately revived when Spike and Carly brought a fresh supply back from Cybertron. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2

When Megatron used the Voltronic Galaxer to scramble Earth's communications, the humans were left in a state of confusion. Prowl took a team of Autobots on the road to help motorists who missed the message about an incoming blizzard. Unfortunately, Thundercracker and Ramjet got involved and nearly turned the rescue mission into a catastrophe. Prowl and the Autobots were buried in snow for a time until they could dig themselves and the humans out. Blaster Blues He was among the Autobots temporarily rendered invulnerable by electrum, and fought the Decepticons for control of the golden lagoon. The Golden Lagoon He also helped stop Megatron from taking over New York City with an army of robot car drones. Make Tracks Prowl was on hand as Perceptor analyzed the robotic plantlife Bumblebee and Cosmos brought back to Earth. When the Triple Changers overthrew Megatron and began vying for Decepticon command themselves, Blitzwing took over a football stadium and began launching "long bombs" into the city beyond. Optimus Prime sent Prowl to investigate, alongside Bluestreak, Skids and Tracks, but they were stymied by Blitzwing's "zone defense". At his command, the Constructicons had created an elaborate and confusing maze of passages outside the stadium, leaving the Autobots racing around blindly inside its tight corridors. Using his flight and tank modes for maneuverability and power, Blitzwing easily overwhelmed the Autobot invaders. Prowl and Skids plowed into each other on a blind junction, and were then mowed over by the Decepticon's massive treads. The crazed Scrapper had them rebuilt into a throne for him inside the zone, until Smokescreen and Hoist rescued their comrades. Triple Takeover Although he did absolutely nothing to save the missing Autobots or stop Lord Chumley's antics, Prowl was allowed a heroic drive into the sunset along with Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots. Prime Target (episode)

After the government concocted a new super-fuel, they decided to offer it to the Autobots for testing. Fearing a Decepticon attack, Prowl arranged a series of security measures to protect the cargo, and keep the Decepticons from learning about the fuel. Unfortunately, those measures failed, and Megatron attacked the tanker convoy with his Seekers. Despite the breach, the Autobots' superior driving abilities enabled them to outmaneuver the Decepticons. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1
When Jazz and Cliffjumper were kidnapped by Starscream's Combaticons, Prowl traveled to the Amalgamated Water & Power Plant with the other Autobots to rescue them. Wisely, the Autobots completely avoided the war between the Decepticons and Combaticons taking place immediately to their left — they just grabbed their pals and split. Starscream's Brigade Prowl, Tracks, and Sideswipe went with Optimus Prime to clear the Insecticons out of a human settlement. They were aided in evacuating the neighborhood by the Protectobots, leaving the Autobots clear to fire at will at the Insecticon clones. This relatively routine mission turned sour, however, when Spike and Perceptor reported that Earth's orbit had been altered, sending it towards the sun. Learning the effect originated from Cybertron, Prowl and the others attempted to hijack the space bridge, but Shrapnel stole the bridge's control panel before they could board the transporter. The Autobots searched the area for signs of the control panel with sensor beams from their chests, but all Prowl managed to turn up was an old wrecked television. The panel was later recovered and repaired, and Prowl joined both Autobots and Decepticons alike in traveling to Cybertron to stop the Combaticons' plot. The Revenge of Bruticus Prowl also helped defend the Ark when it was later attacked by Bruticus and the Decepticons. {{storylink|B.O.T. Prowl met his manufacturer in the year 2005, alongside fellow Autobots Ironhide, Brawn and Ratchet. The four Autobots were manning a shuttle run to Earth, to collect and bring fresh energon and supplies to Moonbase One from Autobot City on Earth, in preparation for a planned assault to retake Cybertron. They were hijacked in mid-flight by Megatron and the Decepticons, who sought to sneak past Autobot City's early warning systems. Prowl very nearly shot Starscream's head off during the raid, but was felled by a single blast from Scavenger. That blast penetrated his armor, burned his innards horribly, and left him belching fiery smoke as he fell to the floor, dead. The Transformers: The Movie
Prowl's body was evidently recovered for interment, as his grave was housed in the interstellar Autobot Mausoleum. Along with the mausoleum itself, Prowl's remains were later plunged into a red sun as a side-effect of a Quintesson plot. Dark Awakening
Granted a vision of the future by the time-tossed Decepticon Ravage, Wheeljack saw Prowl's looming death in the year 2005, and resolved to save his life. Prowl was equipped with the Genetronic Translink System, which would allow him to relocate his spark to subspace, and from there, control multiple Binaltech bodies; therefore, the vision Wheeljack saw of his friend's dead body could still come to pass, while his spark would live on. Before the first of his secondary bodies were completed, however, Prowl was sent on a mission to investigate some potential Decepticon activity in the vicinity of Saturn, and came under heavy attack from the villains. He contacted Wheeljack on Earth, who was in the process of transferring memory data into Prowl's secondary Binaltech body, and Wheeljack prepared the GT System for a risky manoeuvre—the transplantation of Prowl's spark from his body, through subspace, into the Binaltech unit in Wheeljack's workshop. The transfer was initiated, but unfortunately, the unstable link collapsed mid-way through the process, and Prowl's spark was lost to the depths of subspace. Believing that the world still required the skills of Prowl, Prowl's longtime friend Chip Chase transferred his life essence into the Binaltech body, merging with the memory data already installed in it to become "Prowl II". Prowl & Chase

A few years later, Prowl's spark found its way through the infinite vastness of subspace and materialized in a different universe: the original timeline from which the Binaltech world had branched off. Prowl's spark was found by the Autobots of that world, but unfortunately, it was soon discovered that even in another universe, he was not beyond the reach of his home dimension's Decepticons. Doctor Arkeville and Swindle used a neuro-net frame combined with a subspace node to locate his spark across the multiverse, and drain energy from it to power a giant monster they had made from synthetic electrum. Unfinished Business, Part 2 Prowl's spark began to destabilize as a consequence, and so the Bluestreak from the original timeline voyaged across the dimensions to the Binaltech world to alert Prowl's fellow Autobots to his dire situation. Unfinished Business, Part 1 With Bluestreak's aid, the Autobots tracked down the Decepticon operation and destroyed the monster, severing its connection to Prowl's spark. Though stable now, Prowl's spark was still too weak to make an interdimensional journey unguarded, requiring a body for protection. Chip Chase separated his consciousness from the "Prowl II" body so that it could be taken back to Bluestreak's timeline to finally serve as the body of the Autobot for whom it was always intended. Unfinished Business, Part 2
{{note|Prowl's revival is one of those "WTF?" errors that happened in the Japanese series as a result of the Japanese production staff not being aware of his death in the movie, as it did not reach Japan for several more years. The fighting stopped when a mysterious Decepticon appeared from the pod and declared that hostilities must cease, as Cybertron had been unified under one ruler, but before he could finish this sentence, Shockwave appeared and blasted him. Stating that he was the leader of Cybertron, he ordered all combatants to lay down their arms and surrender themselves to his forces. Megatron, refusing to believed this attacked, giving the Autobots the distraction they needed to recover their wounded and retreat. Once safely away, Optimus Prime ordered Prowl to escort Ratchet and the wounded back to base, but unexpectedly, his strategist refused, citing the need for to gather intelligence on the new situation and to keep Prime and his essential leadership out of potential harms way. Unfortunately for Prowl, Ultra Magnus found Mirage first, convincing the homesick Autobot to help his Cybertronian forces round up Prowl's team so they can all go home. New World Order

After Magnus convinced Optimus Prime and some of his Autobots in Oregon to turn themselves over, Prowl reported on the situation and Magnus' claims that they need the Autobots back home to repair the damage done to Cybertron, but stopped short of advocating blind trust in Magnus or Shockwave. Instead, he suggested they keep an open mind, believing Magnus was still an Autobot at his core. Brothers' Burden Unbeknownst to them, Shockwave had ordered the deactivation of Optimus Prime and his Autobots, an order that outraged the "former" Autobots under his command. While Sandstorm took Prime through the Old Slave Trails to see Hot Rod's rebel team, those under Prowl were taken by Broadside to meet with the Autobots rebels Smokescreen was aligned with. Unfortunately, just as they arrived, Shockwave unleashed the Omega Sentinels on the Dinobots in Iacon, brushing aside rushing aside the trappings of peaceful coexistence and instituting marital law. Passive Aggression However, with Optimus Prime returned, the various sub-factions of Autobot rebels were unified under his inspirational command and launched an all-out attack on Iacon. Prowl was in Kup's team, and watched as the light from the Autobot Matrix of Leadership was unleashed from Shockwave's tower. Countdown to Extinction (issue)

Ultimately, the Autobots won the day and retook Cybertron from Shockwave and his Decepticons, and Prowl was placed in command of security of the planet. He and Ironhide watched as Autobot recruits were trounced again by training drones at the Autobase. Prowl knew these recruits were trying their best, but with the situation more volatile than ever, the Autobots needed more troops and had no choice but to accept whomever enlisted. However, he understood Ironhide's concerns that if these new Autobots didn't get themselves into gear, then they might as well not have an army at all. While checking in on Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, Prowl was alerted by the Protectobots that something may have trashed one of Shockwave's labs before blasting off. Black Sunshine Though the obviously more trustworthy Autobots were now in control, the population was still reluctant to support them. Prowl attempted to address their concerns in a public forum at Central Hall, expecting a structured, supportive crowd, but was overwhelmed by the barrage of questions from concerned citizens, much to Ironhide's amusement. Fortunately, Ultra Magnus managed to salvage the embarrassing situation by stepping in to answer the questions posed to Prowl. Later, at New Iacon's Alpha Preserve, Ironhide, Prowl and Kup knocked back Kremzeek-brand refreshment, reflecting on the changes in politics on Cybertron, and pondering if old relics like themselves were needed anymore. Skyfire (issue)

To take his mind off post-war politics, Prowl attempted to dig into the mystery of the energy signature detected at the Decepticon laboratory the Protectobots had investigated. He tried to understand why Shockwave was harvesting clones of both Autobots and Decepticons, why energy similar to Vector Sigma was detected there, and where Shockwave had uploaded the compressed contents of the supercomputer to. Just when the exhausted Prowl was on the cusp of realizing that this all led back to the missing clone, Ultra Magnus contacted him, reporting that he had notified the other Autobots for the meeting the next cycle, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, preparations for the Autobots to return to Earth would begin shortly. The Omega Effect The next cycle, as Prowl made his way to the meeting, Perceptor reported that the upload from Vector Sigma was intended to be downloaded into Shockwave's secret lab, but the network there was overloaded, and so it was downloaded into one of the clones in his lab, which would be far too much for any mortal Transformer. Prowl theorised for the being to remain relatively sane, it must have simplified the information it received, and that Shockwave became interested in Earth only after he began to decode data from Vector Sigma. Still, neither Prowl nor Perceptor had any idea what this all meant. Entering the meeting, Prowl reported that they had a problem and it was heading for Earth. Original Sin

Prowl reported his and Perceptor's findings on the clone and announced a return to Earth, to the agreement of Bluestreak, Hound and Trailbreaker, but to the anger of Gears, Mirage and Huffer. Prowl understood the reluctance to leave Cybertron so soon after returning for the first time in millions of years, but said that Cybertron was not currently in danger, but they had an obligation to their second home, Earth, and to their human friends. He asked for volunteers over Huffer's protests, but Ironhide commented that for all their complaints, the detractors knew Prowl was right. Atonement True to his word, Mirage, Huffer and Gears joined the Autobots going to Earth, though with obvious difficulty. Prowl comforted Huffer, expressing his appreciation in his fellow Autobot for joining him and bringing his invaluable skills on this mission. But at the last, Prowl too agreed that he would miss Cybertron. Lost and Found (issue)

Arriving on Earth, Prowl's team began building a new Autobot facility, far away from settlements so as to not endanger humanity should the Decepticons attack. Among many of his fellow Autobots (and several Decepticons), Prowl was found dormant on the crashed Ark by the human terrorist organization Cobra and reprogrammed to serve them. He and Bluestreak were rebuilt to transform into Cobra Firebat jets in the process. When the Transformers were eventually freed from the humans' control, Prowl joined a team of Autobots that hunted down Cobra Commander, but failed to capture him as they were distracted by his S.N.A.K.E. guards. After taking out most of the mechs, the team witnessed Trailbreaker get decapitated by Storm Shadow, and descended upon the ninja in a fit of rage. {{storylink|G.I. A few years later, having returned to Cybertron, Prowl was part of a team of Autobots waiting for a chance to charge in and free Optimus Prime from Serpent O.R.'s clutches. The Art of War issue 4 With the Decepticon army defeated, Prowl was sent back to Earth as part of a team that worked to prevent Cybertronian technology from falling into the wrong hands. Prowl, along with several other Autobots, lay dormant on the Fera Islands for a long time until 1939, when G.I. Joe stumbled upon them whilst battling Cobra. Soon after awakening and being reformatted into a new form, Prowl told Optimus Prime not to trust the humans, as they had just opened fire on Iron Hide sic without provocation. In contrast, the other Autobots were happy to offer G.I. Joe help, though Prowl insisted that they needed more information before throwing themselves headlong into the humans' war. Transformed After the Autobots teamed up with the Joes anyway, Prowl mocked [[Duke (G.I.
As the Autobots and Joes got closer to the Cobra Terrordrome, Optimus Prime started to regret interfering with the humans and their war, and contemplated withdrawing. Joe could very well be the bad guys in the scenario, but Hound told him to shut up. Trenches Optimus Prime soon changed his mind, and Prowl participated in the attack on the Terrordrome. When Optimus Prime accidentally killed a fellow Autobot, Prowl—who never liked the dead guy anyway—covered it up so the rest of the team wouldn't lose faith in their leader. Prowl learned to appreciate rules and discipline during his formative years in Petrex, a strictly functionist town where saying anything bad about your alternate mode could get you thrown in jail. He eventually made it into the Iaconian Mechaforensic Division, where he became famous for his tendency to order a full body autopsy during practically every investigation. This is exactly what he did when he and Chromedome were assigned to investigate the assassination of Senator Sherma, seemingly killed by Decepticons, leading to the discovery of cerulean glass on the victim's body. Following the trail to Translucentica Heights, the duo ran straight into another body: that of Senator Momus. Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc

Following the rise of Sentinel Prime, Prowl joined the Autobot Security Services in Kaon, working right under Sentinel. Megatron Origin issue 1 Megatron's rise as the most popular and violent pit fighter in videos of Kaon's illegal gladiatorial combat attracted Prowl's attention, and he formed a Autobot Security Services team to crack down on them, though to the chagrin of his fellow officers, he tended to blather on about his theories about how somebody was making a fortune distributing on these inexpensive to produce videos. Megatron Origin issue 2

After the murder of Bumper and Fastback, Sentinel and Prowl led a security forces deployment that arrested many of Megatron's pit fighters and those that they were attempting to recruit. Prowl personally attached the inhibitor claw to Megatron once he was overwhelmed by security forces. While processing the prisoners, he delivered the galling news that due to senate orders, the one known as Soundwave was to be freed without charge. Megatron Origin issue 3 Unfortunately, it was all part of Megatron's mad plans. He allowed himself and his men to be captured so Starscream could feign turning coat and murder the senate members who questioned him. During the ensuing jail break that devastated the Security Team HQ and following street battle, Prowl lost his usual cool composure in the face of such onslaught and looked to Sentinel Prime for directions. When Prime left to face Megatron personally and was brutally defeated, it was Prowl who took control and ordered the evacuation of security forces from Kaon. Megatron Origin issue 4

As the Decepticon movement began to spread across Cybertron and Zeta Prime took command, Prowl became a member of Orion Pax's Autobot unit. He participated in a mission to arrest Swindle as he was selling weapons to terrorists in Nyon. Law and Disorder Not long afterwards he helped hunt down Decepticon spy Soundwave, but was dealt with by Rumble who collapsed the Neurospan Bridge on him. The Hunt for Soundwave When Bumblebee was held hostage by Decepticons to convince Orion to come to Kaon and talk to Megatron, Prowl and the rest of the team came to their rescue. Cause and Effect

On a mission from Zeta Prime to arrest the insurgent Hot Rod, Orion Pax's team traveled to Nyon's Acropolex, where Prowl noted that their target seemingly wasn't trying to kill them and also mentioned being a believer in the Matrix of Leadership unlike some people. At the heart of the Acropolex, the Autobots found that Hot Rod just wanted to show them multiple tanks full of energon drained from Nyon's populace to power Zeta Prime's war machines. He asked Orion Pax to join him against Prime's tyranny, though Prowl voiced his disapproval of officers joining the insurgents against their own government. Ruins He seemingly changed his mind as soon as Zeta Prime began directly assaulting Nyon. To distract Zeta's Omega Destructors while Hot Rod evacuated the city, Orion Pax and Prowl acted as bait and drew one of the Destructors into a trap, but failed to harm it and were defeated by Zeta Prime himself. Purge The Autobots' lives were saved by Megatron, who took them to Kaon for repairs and negotiated an alliance with Orion. Choices

Together with their new allies, Prowl and the others attacked Zeta Prime's Citadel and put an end to his rule. Unsurprisingly, the Decepticons then betrayed them. Overthrown Prowl was among those captured under Megatron's new rule, but escaped alongside his cellmates Hound, Springer and Kup. When Optimus had to make a rallying call for more allies for their cause, Prowl cut the news-feed for the message to get carried out. He then participated in the assault against the Citadel. Broadcast After the battle, Prowl showed Optimus the armory that Zeta Prime had hidden in the Undergrid, suggesting that they could use the weapons within against the Decepticons. Optimus refused this and ordered them destroyed. Knowing Prowl, however, he may not have followed orders... Endgame

Four million years ago, Prowl was working directly under Optimus Prime as the Autobots fought to prevent the Decepticons from bringing fresh energon supplies to the war effort. While Optimus went after the energon convoy himself, Prowl held the line with Hound and the others to prevent the Decepticons from getting hold of the latest city they had targeted. In the aftermath, Prowl congratulated Prime for capturing the convoy without having to fire a shot. The Iron Age
At some point during the war, Prowl tried to desert and escape the war onboard the Peaceful Resolution. It was shot down before reaching orbit, and he realized he had to help win the war instead of running from it. The Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime

After the Garrus-9 detention facility had been established, Prowl was among the law enforcement Autobots who endured the trials of Autobot criminals who inflicted unspeakable horrors on civilians and other non-combatants. Prowl and other luminaries such as Chief Justice Tyrest, Xaaron and Nightbeat agreed that the trials would remain a secret until the final verdict was cast, then it would be full disclosure, regardless of the damage to morale and the Autobots' political standing. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 5

Millions of years later, Prowl was the leader of a detachment of Autobots that operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency led by Starscream and blindly following the Autobot rules of counterinsurgency. He almost threw Ratchet in the brig for breaking cover to rescue three humans from the Decepticons, and subsequently refused to contact Optimus Prime until further evidence of enemy activities was uncovered. He did not willingly believe Ratchet when the medic told him that the Decepticons had stepped up their presence by constructing a second base. However, Ironhide ended up sending a pulsewave transmission to Optimus Prime behind Prowl's back. Infiltration issue 3 Prowl was forced to face reality when Megatron arrived on Earth to confront Starscream, and he finally agreed to call in Optimus Prime.
When Springer ordered several Autobots on a lethal mission to rescue the damaged and deranged Kup from an alien world, Prowl evidently helped conceal Springer's efforts from Optimus. However, he still felt it was a misguided effort, asking Springer if Kup would want other Autobots killed rescuing him. Spotlight: Kup

Prowl went with the Autobots to investigate Decepticon activity in the country of Latveria. There they discovered a heavily shielded "array" that the Decepticons were using as a base. Man and Machine, Part One After a skirmish with the humans that were present there, they teamed up with them to shut down the Psycho-Prism human mind altering device the Decepticons had fortified inside the array. Wolverine arrived with Jazz and Bumblebee and suggested they use his abilities instead. After Sunstreaker was kidnapped by a mysterious group of humans, Escalation issue 1 Prowl was still obsessed with the rules of the counterinsurgency war and thus did not understand why Optimus Prime requested reinforcements to Earth. Prowl was furious when Ironhide dared to go around him and volunteer himself to track down clues on Sunstreaker's disappearance, and subsequently forced him to stay behind while the Autobots not on his grievance list left for Brasnya to confront the Decepticons. Escalation issue 3 When everything kicked off in the former Soviet nation, Prowl led Jazz and Wheeljack (and later Hot Rod and Hardhead) into battle, attempting to capture Georgi Koska, a Decepticon facsimile. Escalation issue 4 He clashed with Hot Rod over the capture of Koska as both of them were of equal rank, but when Optimus Prime was temporarily offline and believed dead, Prowl assumed full command and came up with a strategy for fighting Megatron (shoot him, then run away). Escalation issue 6

Under orders from Optimus, Prowl oversaw the moving of Ark-19 to a more secure location. He turned to Prime rather than order the launch on his own discretion.
Once on the Ark-32, Prowl found that, due to injuries from the battle with Sixshot Devastation issue 4 and separate missions, he and Hardhead were the only active Autobots.
Optimus Prime and Prowl met with Fortress Maximus and Jetfire on Garrus-9 to discuss the prisoners' breakout and how a surviving Decepticon had been tortured. Prime left Maximus in charge and said that he and Prowl had unfinished business aboard the Ark-32. When Thunderwing was reported guarding a cave on Corata-Vaz, Optimus Prime recognized this had something to do with his infraspace encounter in Brasnya. He ordered Prowl to summon the Wreckers to find out what Thunderwing was guarding. Spotlight: Cyclonus He judged the subsequent battle between the Wreckers and Thunderwing as suicidal, and felt that they were wasting their time given everything seemed to be coming at them at once. Spotlight: Hardhead
Prowl became increasingly frustrated with the tendency of the Autobots in general and Optimus specifically to lionise and listen to charismatic warriors and mavericks. Realising nobody would listen to the more logical tactical advice that he or Perceptor gave, he had Kup sent to the Kimia Facility to be rebuilt... with some personality sub-routines added in, which would ensure that the iconic elder could be controlled and made to act as a proxy for him. Prowl didn't want attention or glory, he only wanted to do his job, and he had absolutely no ethical qualms about ensuring that "when [Kup] speaks, you won't even see my lips move"...

He really didn't like Springer either, and was annoyed that the Decepticons seem to be a more unified body than the Autobots. All Hail Megatron issue 15

After the Expansion incident, Optimus Prime reassigned more Autobots to Earth. The Decepticons had been laying low for months, and everyone was starting to get restless. While Prowl recommended a "wait and see" approach to Optimus Prime, Ironhide's calls for action soon drowned out Prowl's reasoning. When Mirage handed them solid intelligence about a possible opportunity to wipe out Starscream and a small group of Decepticons, the Autobots acted on it. It turned out to be an ambush, and the Autobots were soundly defeated by the Decepticons with the aid of Devastator. Informed that the Decepticons were launching simultaneous attacks across the galaxy on Autobot installations and also that there was a traitor among them, the Autobots' morale was dealt a heavy blow. Through use of a space bridge portal, Megatron planned to send the Autobots to Cybertron to have them devoured by the Swarm. Optimus Prime managed to sabotage the portal and strand the Autobots on Cybertron before the Decepticons could follow, albeit nearly at the cost of his life. All Hail Megatron issue 7
In this unprecedented situation, Jazz's authority superseded Prowl's, and he took overall command of the battered and demoralized Autobots. All Hail Megatron issue 1 Jazz also proved necessary to shore up Prowl's own authority, which was severely disregarded by his men. Jazz's reputation helped keep them in line, particularly the recalcitrant Ironhide, who had taken to striking superior officers, including Prowl himself. After the situation with Ironhide was defused, Prowl got Jazz to admit the energon searches he'd been sending troops out on were just to keep the men busy. Prowl worried that Prime would soon die, and about the details of their commander's condition that they had kept from the troops at large. All Hail Megatron issue 4
In particular, what Jazz and Prowl were withholding was the fact that the Matrix of Leadership was not within Prime anymore, but had been absconded with by Megatron. All Hail Megatron issue 5
Kup arrived on Cybertron shortly thereafter with his own team, and things took a turn for the worse, with the Swarm encroaching on their position. All Hail Megatron issue 6 Sunstreaker was revealed to be the traitor, having made a bargain with Starscream to kill Megatron. Thankfully, Ratchet finally managed to repair and revive Optimus Prime, and Autobot morale went on the upswing despite their situation. All Hail Megatron issue 9 Under Prime's direction, they immediately began building a defense against the oncoming Swarm horde in a new temporary base. Once everything was nearly in place, Prowl calculated the odds of them succeeding and wound up with quite a dire forecast. Jazz urged him to keep it to himself, which Prowl quickly agreed to do. When the Swarm surged against them, the Autobots fought as hard as they could, but were eventually on the verge of being overwhelmed. Fortunately, Omega Supreme arrived to tilt the odds squarely in the Autobots' favor. Prowl asked Omega how he had survived the galaxy-wide Decepticon attack, speculating that they had probably sent an army against him. Omega simply replied, "I am Omega Supreme". All Hail Megatron issue 10

The Autobots eventually boarded Omega's rocket mode and headed for Earth. There, they engaged the Decepticon forces in a fierce battle which ended with Megatron's defeat and Starscream ordering a withdrawal from the planet. All Hail Megatron issue 12

Over the next three years, the Autobots remained on Earth at the insistence of Optimus Prime. Optimus believed they could not leave in good conscience while human society was still in disarray from their war and rogue Decepticons still wandered the planet. The humans were not interested in having protectors, however, and soon learned to take care of themselves. Skywatch reverse-engineered Cybertronian technology to hunt and capture Autobots AND Decepticons left on the planet.

As part of Optimus Prime's belief that the Autobots must help humanity rebuild in whatever way possible, Prowl was assigned to assist the local police whilst in disguise as one of their squad cars. Over the next eight months, Prowl saw humanity at its lowest ebb. Desperate, angry people who would never forgive the Transformers for bringing their war to humanity's homeworld. He watched as some of his driver's fellow police officers set fire to the building that the Decepticon Thrust was trapped in, a cold execution of what Prowl considered an enemy combatant. He protested to Optimus Prime that humanity was dangerous, they were now killing Transformers, and that there was no strategic purpose for the Autobots to be on this planet or for he to continue this masquerade of being a police car. Prime asked his officer to trust him in his belief to the value of this activity, and that all the Autobots were on a personal journey.

And so Prowl continued to patrol the streets, and while he did so, he calculated. The humans numbered in their swarming billions versus less than ten thousand Cybertronians. Humanity lived brief, petty, frantic lives of comparatively little consequence, their world and its infrastructure inefficient, ramshackle and incompetent. Prowl concluded that not a single human life was worth that of a Cybertronian. However, when he and his police officer drive was overseeing the removable of volatile Cybertronian wreckage from a building, some workers accidentally triggered an abandoned weapon to fire, destroying a damaged building. Without thinking, Prowl transformed and pushed a young girl out of the way, saving her life, but in the process, was trapped under the rubble that would have crushed her. His driver expressed disbelief that the Autobot had been in disguise as his car for the past eight months, and that he had broken cover to save one girl. Prowl confessed that for eight months he had been watching, planning, but unable to do anything. There were so many times he could have assisted if he were able to break cover. He had run the numbers, made calculations on Earth and on humanity, his math was flawless, but they weren't right. And when push came to shove, he couldn't rely on what he thought might happen, he had to act on instinct and do the right thing. The policeman, impressed, remarked that Prowl spoke like a true beat cop, and stated that while he was obligated to call this incident in, it wasn't an emergency and suggested that Prowl had an hour to extricate himself before Skywatch arrived. Ride-Along
The Autobots moved west, where Prowl was joined in his undercover police work with new arrival Streetwise. They were present at a power installation in New Mexico, which was being ransacked by the ravenous Stunticon Breakdown. Skywatch deployed its robot-hunting crash-suits and brought down the Decepticon before leveling lethal particle cannons at him. Despite himself, Prowl broke cover to prevent the execution of a helpless Transformer. This left his backside open to the second Skywatch team on site, who used mode lock inhibitors to capture him as well as the "bait", Breakdown.

Prowl's capture was reported back to Autobase by Streetwise, and Hot Rod assembled a strike team to infiltrate Skywatch and rescue him. These Autobots were outfitted with Wheeljack's new counter-inhibitors to prevent the mode lock from working. Unfortunately, this sudden change in tactical efficiency only caused Skywatch to panic, drawing out their lethal ordnance to protect themselves. Prowl was rescued...but Ironhide died in the assault. Grieving for his friend, Optimus Prime then stepped down as Autobot leader and turned himself over to Skywatch. ...For All Mankind

With Optimus gone, Hot Rod advocated abandoning his plan and this planet, and Prowl was one of the first to sign up for Hot Rod's splinter group. They failed to convince Omega Supreme to fly them off-world, but then encountered a group of Decepticons led by Swindle. After a brief scuffle, Hot Rod and Swindle entered into negotiations for a truce. Prowl was uncomfortable with the idea of collaboration, despite his earlier effort on Breakdown's behalf. Ultimately, however, he went along with it. Things Fall Apart, Part 1: "New Arrivals, Old Encounters"
The united Autobots and Decepticons attempted to construct a space cruiser in order to leave the planet. Their efforts reached a hurdle with the arrival of Ultra Magnus, duly appointed enforcer of the Tyrest Accord. Prowl had summoned Ultra Magnus to Earth as part of standard operating procedure after Ironhide's death, before Prime abdicated his leadership and the faction had split. Things became difficult as Magnus attempted to confiscate Hot Rod's "unlicensed interstellar vehicle". Prowl attempted to weigh in with legalese of his own, citing the line of procedural succession and emergency powers, but it became moot when Magnus discovered their collaboration. Things Fall Apart, Part 3: "Seasons in Flight"
Eventually the collaboration ended when the Decepticons betrayed Hot Rod. Prowl and the others survived thanks to the intervention of Optimus Prime and Skywatch leading Bumblebee to form an alliance with humans. Things Fall Apart, Part 5: "Earthworks"
Sometime after things settled down on Earth, Prowl formed a plan to recapture the Garrus-9 detention facility, which had fallen during Megatron's push three years earlier. Prowl's primary objective on this mission was for the Wreckers to retrieve the data stored on Aequitas, as he feared that if the Decepticons managed to get their hands on politically-damaging information about Autobot war criminals, it would be disastrous to the Autobot cause. When selections for the new Wreckers squad were being made, Prowl learned that Ironfist (a weapons researcher at Kimia Facility who had an obsessive fascination with the Wreckers) had recently suffered a lab accident involving cerebro-centric bullets and only had months to live. Applying pressure on psy-ops specialist Rung (who had judged the researcher unfit for Wreckers duty), Prowl arranged for Ironfist to be placed in Springer's squad on the condition that he would be the one to sacrifice his life to unlock Aequitas. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4 After the surviving Wreckers defeated Overlord and liberated G-9, Prowl was given a data slug containing the Aequitas' data, the legacy of Ironfist, who had finally succumbed to his lab accident injury. Prowl explained to Ultra Magnus how he regretted using Ironfist in this manner, and he would prefer if the information about trials were never made public, despite what he had agreed to millions of years ago, for fear of what it would do to Autobot morale. As Ultra Magnus left, Prowl started to apply pressure on the data slug... Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 5

When Galvatron crash-landed a spaceship full of zombies in Las Vegas, Autobot and Skywatch troops were ready to defend the city. After a brief battle, they learned that the zombies were not on Galvatron's side, but rather a threat to the entire planet, and Prowl had the area quarantined before interrogating Galvatron on what he knew about the creatures. The Transformers: Infestation issue 1 The leader of the zombies, an interdimensional vampire in disguise named Britt, soon revealed herself and attacked the Autobots and Decepticons, infecting Kup with the zombie plague and creating a space-time portal to Cybertron's distant past, intending to infect the planet while it was still teeming with life. Prowl, however, had a way to sabotage her plan: using his previously established mind link with Kup, he removed the virus's control over the old warrior and had him change the portal's coordinates, trapping Kup, Britt and the zombie army in the Dead Universe. The Transformers: Infestation issue 2
As the Autobots flew home from Korea, the Decepticons returned to Earth with a vengeance and had their plane shot down.
In order to finish his investigation, Prowl remained on Earth with Bumblebee, Ultra Magnus and some other Autobots while the rest of them left to drive Galvatron off of Cybertron. After a last-minute questioning of Megatron revealed nothing new, he tried unsuccessfully to get Decepticon deserter Thundercracker to stay with the Autobots, and lied to Bumblebee and Spike that he would keep them updated on what was going on. Police Action: Prologue Appearing via hologram on board Omega Supreme, Prowl participated in the talks on what the Autobots would do with Megatron. He agreed with Xaaron that they needed a third party to judge the Decepticon leader's trial, but admitted that personally he'd rather just execute the scumbag. Chaos Theory Part 1

When Spike let slip that he'd be gone from base for 36 hours for secret reasons, Prowl decided to spy on his activities. This proved uninformative as Spike just met with higher-ups and assorted women, but things got heated when Breakdown suddenly showed up for revenge against the human. Prowl defeated him with help from Streetwise, but was forced to break off the mission and was chewed out by Ultra Magnus for the attention attracted by the battle. He mentioned wanting to look into anti-Transformer spokesman Ben Simpson, whom he suspected was providing people with guns made from Megatron's parts, but was ordered to focus on Spike. Searching the site of Scrapper's death, Prowl was sampling some odd chemical residue when he suddenly came under attack. Police Action: Part 1

The assailant was Brawl, though Prowl noticed he had a spotter that got away. Together with Streetwise he defeated the Decepticon and took him in for questioning, but a failsafe in his body caused him to shut down during interrogation. Continuing with the investigation on Spike, Prowl had former Skywatch member Sandra brought in while he looked into the sample he had found. Just as he figured out that Scrapper had been attacked by a human with a chemical weapon rather than another Decepticon as previously assumed, Spike approached him and shamelessly admitted that it was all true. Police Action Part 2: Only Forward

While Spike argued that it was a strategical operation to rid the world of Devastator, Prowl saw it as murder with vengeance for Spike's friend Tim Simmons as the motive. Spike didn't care for being lectured, calling Prowl out on making his own tough decisions and keeping secrets from his allies for their own sake. Before he could think of what to do next, Prowl got word from Bumblebee that Ultra Magnus had agreed to go after Ben Simpson, and rolled out alongside him and Streetwise. Simpson turned out to be a facsimile construct created by Swindle to boost anti-Transformer sentiment among humanity for profit. When captured, Swindle not only admitted to being responsible for the situation in North Korea, but also for helping Skywatch by selling Cybertronian technology to... Spike Witwicky. Before the Autobots could do much, Spike had fled while Jazz went off on his own and announced to the world that the Autobots were cutting all ties with Skywatch and humanity. Police Action Part 3: A Second Chance at Eden
The few Autobots on Earth returned to Cybertron in the wake of Galvatron and D-Void's defeat. Though the war was over, Autobot High Command found themselves stuck with the thankless job of governing the many neutral Cybertronians returning home. Prowl coined the term Non-Aligned Indigenous Life-forms, or NAILs, for them, and they didn't like being ruled by the people who had ruined their world through war. When a riot took place, the Autobots were outnumbered 20-to-1 and Prowl had no choice but to release the captive Decepticons and have them lend a hand, though chips kept from using lethal force. Things got worse when Rodimus and Ultra Magnus announced that they were leaving Cybertron in search of the Knights of Cybertron when he needed them to deal with the neutrals. This caused Prowl to blow up in anger towards the neutrals, calling them arrogant and ungrateful cowards who did nothing during the war but now acted like they owned the planet. The Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime
Contrary to Prowl's belief that nobody would willingly come with Rodimus, he managed to gather over 200 Autobots for his quest, including Chromedome. Prowl tried to convince him to stay as he truly needed his special abilities, but Chromedome refused as he'd rather leave his past behind. Prowl was left handling the Decepticons, who were very harsh law enforcers and very unhappy about their imprisonment. After arresting Needlenose and Horri-Bull for assaulting a NAIL (and then arresting the NAIL for disturbing the peace), he took them back to the Decepticon pen and was confronted by Decepticon spokesman Ratbat, who demanded his faction be treated as equals. Believing him to have some sort of plan, Prowl reported his suspicions to Bumblebee and suggested they cancel the memorial service dedicated to Rodimus's crew, what with the large NAIL population being indifferent to the fate of their friends. He later discussed the matter of Ratbat with his secret weapon, Arcee, telling her that he was going to preserve the peace even if he had to do things he didn't want to do. The Autonomy Lesson He learned the truth soon enough when Starscream came to the Autobots and sold out Ratbat, telling Prowl that he planned to assassinate Bumblebee during the memorial service then stage a coup. Acting on this info, Prowl managed to stop Skywarp from sniping Bumblebee and leaving a NAIL to take the blame, and in the meantime sent Arcee to deal with Ratbat. Even though she mercilessly murdered the Decepticon, the two agreed afterwards that she had acted in self defense and had no other choice. The World & Everything in It Prowl later addressed to the Decepticons in the wake of Ratbat's death, claiming that evidence suggested suicide. Starscream stepped in and backed the cover story, much to Prowl's discomfort. Very shortly thereafter, mysterious explosions began striking Cybertron, leading Prowl to believe the Decepticons were responsible. Metalhawk questioned this, adding in some cutting remarks about the war not being over for Prowl yet. Eventually Wheeljack figured out the origin of the explosions and that all parties were innocent in the matter. Much to Prowl's displeasure, Starscream came up with a plan to protect the civilians while Wheeljack ended the threat. Starscream immediately began undermining Bumblebee's position in the new government, adding to Prowl's growing frustration. When the Decepticon Skydive was found murdered, Prowl saw to the investigation. While interrogating the only witness, Dirge, Prowl found a cerebro-shell implanted on the Decepticon, leading him to the conclusion that Bombshell was the murderer. Prowl and Arcee used the entranced Dirge to track Bombshell down, finding the Insecticon ensnaring another victim. After a scuffle where Prowl found out that Bombshell's I/D chip wasn't functioning, he ordered Blurr to pursue the fleeing suspect. Prowl and Arcee soon caught up and found Blurr being accosted by the Constructicons. While Arcee was ordered to save Blurr, Prowl kept on with his pursuit of Bombshell, eventually cornering him. When Bombshell refused to give him any information or the identity of any possible collaborators, a fed-up Prowl coldly executed the deranged Insecticon. The cerebro-shell fell off Dirge, and he witnessed the aftermath of Prowl's actions. Dirge managed to escape and Prowl ordered Arcee to pursue him while he dealt with the Constructicons. Utilizing a hidden override code on the I/D chips to overcome whatever was blocking the signal, Prowl activated their chips and disabled all five Constructicons at once. Later, an injured Blurr gave Prowl a piece of his mind for being ordered after Bombshell without backup, calling him "crazy" and "paranoid". Prowl ignored Blurr's concerns, and pointed out that there was something larger at play with the Decepticons, telling Bumblebee that they had to "take control" of this new era. Devisive
They were about to lynch them in public when Ironhide stopped Prowl after saying that it was a way to have a better future of equality for Autobot and Decepticon. When questioned the next day at Maccadam's Old Oil House of his new attitude, Ironhide said he had a vision that he and Alpha Trion were telling war stories on Gorlam Prime and that every Autobot and Decepticon by that time, were dead along with their old grudges. A Better Tomorrow
A short while later, Omega Supreme was bombed in a terror attack, and Prowl used the opportunity as pretense to arrest the Decepticons still working under Soundwave and Shockwave. Prowl then lead his public arrest force to the pen, where he purposely tripped the explosives to present the appearance that the Decepticons had booby-trapped their own base and had perished in the blast. The End of the Beginning of the World The blast left Prowl in a serious, although stable, condition, but he soon mysteriously disappeared from his CR chamber. Bombshell and Prowl revealed to their audience that the Autobot law enforcer had been taken by one of the Insecticon's mind control devices as he attempted to execute him, and had been a pawn of the Decepticons ever since. Bombshell also noted that Prowl had been easily controlled due to his memories already being damaged in some manner. With that concluded, Megatron declared that the Autobot had outlived his usefulness as a secret pawn, and announced that he would now become part of the next generation of Decepticon warrior. ==Commercial appearances==
Prowl has appeared in several television commercials:

*He features in the very first Transformers animation, a commercial for issue #1 of Marvel's The Transformers comic book. He is seen hanging around with Jazz and Sideswipe on Cybertron, where all three transformed to robot mode and flew away into the air. Later on Earth, the same three bots drive out to (from?) a power plant to defend it from Decepticon attack.
*Much later, he appears in the Action Masters commercial; he's with a band of Autobots who agree to join Optimus Prime as he gives up transformation powers to become "more alive".
*In an ad for Starscream and Prowl, Action Master-form Prowl battles Starscream aboard his Turbo Cycle on Cybertron.

*The Autobot faction symbol seems to be loosely based on Prowl's head.
*The Bluestreak/Prowl head design was used as the basis for the head of Natron, the Autobot Tyco Electric Racing Set car.
*Instead of having a normal gunshot death in The Transformers: The Movie, Prowl is shown having orange smoke coming from his mouth as he dies. Hardcore.
*A very Prowlish computer model was used for one of the generic Transformers in Beast Machines. It is seen as a corpse in a Vehicon factory in the episode "Revelations Part I: Discovery". A similar thing happens with Soundwave, too.
*Prowl is generally a stuffed shirt, but IDW let Nick Roche start to turn him into a methodically, ruthlessly practical planner who'd be engaged in... questionable things for the "greater good". This turned out to be a very popular take, and when IDW had Prowl become a more conventional Autobot later on, a large number of fans protested and wanted him to stay morally dodgy. In an editorial boo-boo, Prowl would still be scheming at the same time he had explicitly turned nice. By the time of Infestation, Prowl's personality had returned to the amoral schemer, not only in the miniseries, but in the ongoing itself.
Camaro is one of the Malignus faction who made their home in the Offworlder section of Nexus 208.0 Epsilon Cybertron, operating as a gang known as the Malignus Revolutionary Army. He and his buddies attended Gutcruncher's rabble-rousing speech, only to see the orator apparently get slagged by two new Autobot arrivals. Always looking for an excuse to eliminate fascist pigs, Camaro and the Malignus made it their personal mission in life (for the cycle, anyway) to hunt down and kill Jackpot and Hubcap. They lost the Autobots at the rally, but caught up with them again after the 'bots escaped police custody. The sudden arrival of an invisible cop left the Malignus confused about what to do next long enough for their Autobot prey to temporarily electrocute the thugs. The chase scene soon continued, however, with the new addition of Black Shadow, the Crossformer assassin who REALLY offed Gutcruncher, and was looking to eliminate his patsies before they learned too much trying to clear their names. Unfortunately for Black Shadow, he had a Decepticon's gift for monologing, and Hubcap's recording equipment was top of the line. Once Hubcap replayed Black Shadow's arrogant confession, Camaro and the Malignus Revolutionary Army quickly changed targets. The revolutionaries take no assassin prisoner!...especially when they happen to have a Gigantion on their side. Black Shadow became a black smear on the pavement. Gone Too Far

Less than a solar-cycle later, Camaro and the Malignus were refueling at a bar when two new arrivals named Treds and Bad Boy came around asking questions. Seems they had misplaced one of their party, and were looking to catch up with him. The MRA were less than willing to help with the search, til Bad Boy showed off his moves street-fighting with Turbo. A good brawl made the Malignus much more cordial. Withered Hope
*Camaro (Mini Vehicle, 1985 - 1987)

: A redeco of the Mini Vehicle Windcharger, Camaro transforms into a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (a vehicle greatly related to the Camaro). He was released only in Brazil by Estrela, and was available in four different color schemes: Original Microchange colors and white hull with grey body in 1985, and then again in 1987 in metal-flake blue with pale yellow, and dark purple with lavender robot parts. While both releases were Autobots in 1985 (but without any Autobot markings), he became part of the new "Malignus" faction in 1987 and received a "Malignus" sigil decal in robot mode (and a slight remold to accommodate the sigil).

: All of the "Optimus/Malignus" Mini Vehicle releases are considered fairly rare, and go for a fairly high price on the secondary market, particularly the secondary color schemes; in this instance, the purple/lavender Camaro goes for more than the white/gray.
Dinobot is a Predacon ruled by his sense of honor. He lives to die gloriously in battle. When he aided Megatron in the theft of the Golden Disk, Dinobot believed he was in the pursuit of endless glory. But when he and his Predacon peers crashed on what seemed to be the wrong planet alongside a Maximal exploration vessel, he rebelled against Megatron and joined the Maximal team. It would be an uneasy alliance, fraught with turns of loyalty and turns of Shakespearean phrase. But it also led to strong friendships and even the salvation of all humanity.

As befits a warrior of his stature, Dinobot is skilled in all forms of combat. He wields a spinning sword and a rotating blade, both which are his preferred means of battle, though he has been known to use ranged weapons such as his laser eye-beams or a simple handheld gun. He has threatened to use any and all of these on Rattrap, with whom he has an intense rivalry. Deep down, he may respect the rodent, but he'll die before he'll admit to it.
As they were making their getaway, Dinobot threw the Data-Con to Dirge (who was unaware of a switch on Megatron's part) before battling a squadron of Maximal Security Troopers, ending with a close combat duel with 9K using his then energy-based sword. Megatron and Dinobot joined Scorponok in escaping the archives with the Golden Disk, avoiding patrolmen Unit 1 and Unit 2. As Dinobot disabled the former, he protested Megatron's apparent cowardice and dishonorable tactics. Megatron responded by clamping his fist around Dinobot's neck, rebuking him for using the "h" word in his presence. After Dinobot had regained his composure, they made their way to the rendezvous point with the Darksyde and launched into space, where they activated their transwarp drive.
The Axalon and the Chromia 10 gave chase, though the latter was destroyed by unknown assailants. When the Axalon caught up with the Predacons, Dinobot balked at the idea of fleeing again and managed to fire a few shots at the Axalon. After Megatron taunted the pilot of the Axalon via videoscreen, Dinobot and the other rogue Predacons on board the Darksyde disappeared through a transwarp portal, with the Axalon close behind. Dawn of Future's Past

Dinobot was one of a group of rogue Predacons and was party to their theft of the Maximal relic, the Golden Disk. They stole a ship and traveled through a transwarp portal, with the Maximal ship Axalon not far behind. After a heated space battle over a mysterious planet, both ships were damaged, and they fell blazing towards the ground below.

The entire planet was saturated with energon, so much so that Dinobot and the other Predacons required protection. To this end, organic forms were scanned. In Dinobot's case, Velociraptor remains buried deep within the volcanic soil of their crash site became the basis for his new form. But the levels of energon were just one problem—this planet looked nothing like Earth, their target destination! As Dinobot ventured outside the base, he blamed Megatron for this error and announced his intention to take over the Predacons himself. Megatron laughed and had Scorponok shoot him over the horizon.

Dinobot, cheated and humbled, took his efforts elsewhere. As the Maximals returned to their crashed ship from an outing, Dinobot was there, blocking the rocky bridge that crossed the waterfall surrounding their new base. This time, he challenged Optimus Primal, and for the leadership of the Maximals. Beast Wars (Part 1)

He and Optimus Primal began their fight. It almost ended badly for Primal when the Maximal commander's foot slipped on the edge of the bridge, but Dinobot saved him, as the Predacon believed that a dishonorable death would mean a dishonorable victory on his own part. They continued, but their battle was interrupted by a Predacon attack. After that clash subsided, Dinobot helped the Maximals, leading them to a victory against Megatron when he tried to obtain the bounty of a mountain-sized cache of natural energon. Optimus accepted him into the fold—not as a leader, of course, but still as a valued team member. This didn't sit well with the other Maximals, particularly Rattrap. Beast Wars (Part 2)

Dinobot provided not only brute force but an understanding of the enemy. A short time afterward, Dinobot was standing with Primal and Rhinox on the bridge of the Axalon around a holo-map of the Predacon base when Primal suggested that Rattrap go on a scouting mission. The Web

However, though he was an asset against the Predacons, Dinobot sowed discontent amongst the Maximals' own ranks. Early on, Cheetor was ordered to his quarters for fumbling the test of an energon monitoring device, and Dinobot suggested to the young Maximal that he secretly test the device himself. This ended in potential disaster when Cheetor unwittingly created a instant-transport stream between the two bases. When Terrorsaur used this to infiltrate the Maximal base, Dinobot feigned a desire to team up with him and overthrow Megatron. Lulling him into a false sense of security, Dinobot eventually took care of him with the trash disposal unit—all without firing a shot, and the other Maximals never even knew. Equal Measures

Dinobot and Optimus Primal investigated an energy signature detected within the Standing Stones, an enigmatic monument of alien origin. After a clash with Megatron and Waspinator, the monument came to life and Optimus Primal disappeared before their eyes. When Dinobot woke up, he was in the Maximal CR chamber, as he'd been found stripped down and abandoned outside the base by unknown hands. But that wasn't important-Optimus Primal was gone, perhaps dead! The Maximals quickly tried to select a new leader by secret ballot, and Dinobot laughed at them when their vote ended in a tie. No, he would be the new leader-by force, if necessary! However, they were all interrupted by a message from Optimus Primal, who was inside the alien monument. Primal put Rattrap in charge, and the remaining Maximals mounted a plan to extract Primal from the alien construct. After another battle with the Predacons at the Standing Stones, the aliens returned Primal to them, with no explanations. Chain of Command

When an incoming stasis pod carrying a potential new Maximal team member was detected, Dinobot refused to let Primal leave without scouting the area outside the Axalon first himself. Dinobot was convinced the Predacons would try to remove Primal from the equation, as he was their faction's only flying member, and he was right—the Predacons managed to damage Primal enough to keep him out of the race for the pod. Dinobot stayed behind with Primal while the others made a play for the pod on foot. When Dinobot received a transmission indicating the Maximals were having difficulties, he awoke Primal's core consciousness to consult him. As a result, the two were able to bounce a signal off one of the planet's moons to the dormant stasis pod, beating the Predacons to the punch. Tigatron joined the team. Fallen Comrades

Soon after, Dinobot and Primal were investigating a second stasis pod when they were suddenly ambushed by Predacons. The Predacons defeated the two and secured the pod for themselves, bringing Blackarachnia online. As this was one in a long string of clever coups, this forced Optimus Primal to consider that their team was suffering from an information leak. Primal scapegoated Rattrap, an accusation in which Dinobot took pleasure. Dinobot was all too happy to destroy the alleged turncoat despite the potential hypocrisy of that act. Rattrap subsequently defected, and in the ensuing battle, was ordered by Megatron to shoot Dinobot, his frequent rival. After some hesitation, Rattrap shot Terrorsaur instead and revealed that the entire situation was a ruse by Optimus Primal to detect the real source of the information leak: stolen Maximal codes. Double Jeopardy

Childish infighting between Rattrap and Dinobot inadvertently triggered Rhinox's new security program, Sentinel, before it could be completed. Dinobot and the other Maximals fled the Axalon, while Rattrap stayed inside to combat Sentinel himself. Later, when Sentinel appeared to have shut down, Rattrap was assumed dead. Each Maximal gave a touching eulogy for Rattrap except for Dinobot, who refused to taint Rattrap's memory with lies. It was soon revealed that Rattrap had not perished, but had instead managed to shut off Sentinel.A Better Mousetrap

Dinobot joined Optimus Primal on a mission once again, but this time to explore the planet's native organisms. Dinobot considered this work as being beneath him, and in the process found himself assaulted by one of the planet's flora. As Primal considered this a lesson in respect learned, he found himself attacked by one of Scorponok's cyberbees. It injected him with a virus that was intended to make him a coward, but instead removed all his inhibitions. Upon returning Primal to the Axalon, Dinobot oddly found himself agreeing that this new bloodthirsty Primal was not a beneficial change. After he failed to solve the problem with the Predacons diplomatically, as Primal would have wanted, it was decided to let the new violent Primal be the new violent Primal. Ultimately, Primal acquired the antidote and woke up with Dinobot standing watch over him. Dinobot assured him that it was merely his shift, and not indicative of his feelings towards Primal—despite having placed a beautiful plant in Primal's quarters. Gorilla Warfare

When a Cybertronian probe was detected, Dinobot helped his teammates attempt to contact it, despite the fact he dreaded a return home. After all, he was a criminal even in Predacon terms, and he had no hope for a warm Maximal reception. Somewhat fortunately for Dinobot's potential fate, their attempts to catch the attention of the probe failed when Tarantulas invented the transformation lock lens. The Probe The issue was raised again when the Maximals thought that the Predacons had been destroyed. Dinobot elected to remain on the planet while the Maximals repaired their ship and launched it. However, just as Dinobot wandered off to explore the world that had become his, he stumbled across the not-so-dead Predacons, who attacked the Axalon and grounded the Maximals once again. Victory (episode)

After Dinobot and the other Maximals were saved from a Predacon attack by Rhinox's ingenuity, Rhinox was abducted by the Predacons and reprogrammed into one of them. Optimus Primal waited for this to backfire on them, and when their plot began to unravel, Dinobot joined the Maximals in infiltrating the Predacon base and retrieving their kidnapped comrade. Dark Designs Megatron soon set his sights on Dinobot as well. After Terrorsaur buried Dinobot in a cave, Megatron unleashed a clone of Dinobot on the unsuspecting Maximals. Ultimately, Dinobot broke free and returned to the Axalon, where he confronted his clone and ate him. Yes. He ate him. Double Dinobot

Not long afterward, Tigatron went missing during a routine scouting report. When Optimus Primal noted that Tigatron was the victim of an aerial attack, Dinobot identified the culprits as Waspinator and Terrorsaur. The Trigger, Part 1 Dinobot remained at base with Rhinox while the others searched for Tigatron on a mysterious flying island. The Trigger, Part 2 Dinobot suffered along with his teammates when the energon dampener was stolen from the Axalon, requiring him and the others to stay in beast mode to avoid energon surges. Between that and sleep deprivation from persistent Predacon attacks, their innate beast instincts began to take over, and the Maximals went feral. It was only through the instruction of Tigatron that they were able to defeat the Predacons and retrieve the dampener. Call of the Wild

Dinobot was tested again when he, Cheetor, Rhinox, and Rattrap were blinded by a Predacon attack. They were far from base and completely helpless, so Dinobot immediately began to panic. Rhinox was able to calm him and the others and slowly lead them back to base, using their other senses. They were rescued by Optimus Primal and Tigatron at the foot of the base just as they began to slip into stasis lock. Dark Voyage The Maximals were also visited by the wandering spark of Starscream, who possessed the body of Waspinator and led a successful attack on the Maximal base, resulting in Dinobot receiving critical damage. Forced out of their base, Optimus Primal surrendered the Maximals to Starscream, under the condition that Dinobot be repaired. In exchange, Starscream ordered the Maximals to attack Megatron. Despite his treachery, Starscream himself was deceived, as Dinobot was not as damaged as advertised. He and Primal were able to eject Starscream from Waspinator's body and retake the Axalon. Possession

Once again, the feud between Rattrap and Dinobot led to disaster. Their carelessness indirectly caused Rhinox to be infected with a virus that caused him to eject energy involuntarily, via hiccups or sneezes or...other means. Optimus Primal ordered the bickering pair to hunt down Tarantulas in his lair and obtain the antidote, figuring they'd either learn to work together or everyone would be destroyed. Unfortunately, the latter wasn't so unlikely an option, as Dinobot and Rattrap's out-of-control behavior toward each other repeatedly sabotaged their efforts to capture Tarantulas. Dinobot was able to grab him just as Megatron arrived, and claimed the spider as a hostage. Megatron did not care and shot them both. Ultimately, the day was saved when Rhinox used his virus against the Predacons, unleashing a mighty explosion from his rear end. The Low Road

Despite his increasing loyalty to the team, Dinobot's violent heart occasionally created rifts. Most notable was his reaction to Tigatron's pacifism: When the tiger tried to leave the Maximals in grief over the accidental death of his best friend, Dinobot argued vociferously with the "coward". He simply could not comprehend what Tigatron was saying, that in order to stop the fighting, someone had to lay down his weapon. The confrontation with Tigatron revealed more than just Dinobot's warrior ethic. He explained to Tigatron a bit of his motives for turning against Megatron: He feared that if Megatron used Earth's energon supply to wage a new war, Cybertron would burn as a result. Dinobot could only see desertion, and for that he nearly killed Tigatron, who refused to fight back. But Primal interrupted before any damage was done, and Tigatron later came back to battle to save Dinobot from a Predacon attack, making the whole point moot. Law of the Jungle

The alien mystery that surrounded the planet soon came to a head. When it became apparent that the aliens themselves would visit them imminently, the Predacons surprisingly called for a truce. Tigatron was called to sneak into the Predacon base and find out what had captured Megatron's attention, and Dinobot and the other Maximals staged a non-lethal battle to cover Tigatron's exit, upholding their end of the truce. Dinobot loosened a large boulder out of place, allowing it to crush both Tarantulas and Blackarachnia. Before the Storm As expected, the aliens arrived. A wormhole opened up over the planet, and a beam shot down to the surface, where another alien device was activated. Rhinox and Dinobot stayed behind at the Axalon while the others investigated, but were too engaged by the planet's second moon shifting its shape into a horrible Planet Buster weapon to notice their base had been compromised. Both Rhinox and Dinobot were removed from the equation by Blackarachnia and Tarantulas. Other Voices, Part 1 The Maximals returned to find them both welded to the ceiling by cyberwebs. Dinobot and Rhinox were placed inside CR chambers as Rattrap and Airazor went to find their unwelcome visitors. Other Voices, Part 2

When Dinobot awoke, Optimus Primal was dead, having sacrificed himself to destroy the Planet Buster with a transwarp explosion, and Cheetor and Rattrap had been altered into Transmetal forms by the resulting quantum surge. After reluctantly admitting Rattrap's new form was an improvement, he immediately declared himself the new Maximal leader. However, with Primal dead, Rhinox was not in any mood to tolerate Dinobot's outburst and shut him up forcefully. While Rattrap and Cheetor were sent outside to deal with Waspinator and a newly Transmetalled Megatron, Rhinox and Dinobot were stuck with the task of restoring their security systems. They did not account for Inferno, who had also infiltrated the Axalon. Thankfully, Rhinox was able to defeat the Predacon and eject him from the ship. Aftermath

With the destruction of the planet's second moon and the stabilization of the planet's natural energon reserves, it became apparent to Dinobot that Megatron was right all along; this was indeed Earth, though in the distant past. Dinobot broke into the Predacon base and stole Megatron's golden disks. He knew that they contained information about the future, and this cut to the core of his being: "If the future is indeed immutably foretold, then my demise is but moments from that confirmation, for I could not live if not the master of my fate." Dinobot hid the disks in a remote location and returned to the Axalon, where Rattrap was having a minor meltdown. Rhinox had hooked himself to a machine with little explanation, and with Tigatron and Airazor on a long-term exploration trip, it fell to Rattrap, Dinobot, and Cheetor to hold off the combined force of the Predacons. Worse yet, Megatron had introduced two new Fuzors to his team, Silverbolt and Quickstrike. Dinobot grabbed what weaponry he could, and with the other two Maximals engaged the Predacons far from the ship, in hopes that they could keep the Predacons away from whatever Rhinox was trying to accomplish. Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)

Their efforts, though seemingly doomed, were not for naught. Though Dinobot, Rattrap, and Cheetor fought to near-death, they held off the enemy long enough for Rhinox's gamble to work. He had travelled into the Matrix and retrieved Optimus Primal's spark. Optimus Primal, restored as a Transmetal from a blank protoform, dramatically turned the tide, saving Dinobot and the others from what would at least have been honorable deaths. Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)

His desire to discover whether the future could be changed kept Dinobot focused on Megatron's actions. When Predacon installations were placed in a Voyager-disk-like pattern, Dinobot remarked that Megatron's plan proceeded even without the disk's information. Thus, he resubmitted himself to Megatron's command, but the Maximals' influence still showed itself. When he was pitted in a death match against Quickstrike in a bizarre test of loyalty, Dinobot subdued his foe but refused to kill him, offering to train him instead. But Megatron accepted the prodigal son anyway, as long as he returned the original Golden Disk. (He had already given the alien disk to Rhinox.) Dinobot complied. He admitted to himself that by helping Megatron he might be sacrificing his own race, but he had to discover whether his actions were his own or predestined. After the artifact was back in Megatron's hands, Rattrap attacked and was quickly immobilized. As a final test of allegiance, Dinobot was ordered to kill his former teammate. This task proved too much for him, and he turned once again on the Predacon leader. Megatron retreated with the disk in his possession, and Primal was left with the decision on whether to allow Dinobot back into their ranks. Dinobot explained that either way, he would fight Megatron, prompting Primal to forgive Dinobot his treacherous actions. Once welcomed back, Dinobot told Primal of Megatron's ultimate designs for the disks' information. Maximal, No More

As Rhinox and Dinobot scanned known alien sites, they suddenly realized that Tigatron and Airazor were journeying into one. But before they could send a warning, the traveling pair triggered the alien site and were shot into space. Dinobot and the other Maximals were rallied by Optimus Primal to this site, where they confronted the Predacons. Before the fight could begin, the alien site activated again, creating a massive Metal Hunter, and blasted everyone in the area. Other Visits (Part 1) The Transformers who had not been altered by the quantum surge lay deactivated, but the Transmetals and Fuzors were unaffected by the Metal Hunter's blast. Silverbolt and Cheetor were instructed to carry Dinobot and Rhinox back to the base for repairs. Megatron used the alien disk to activate the Metal Hunter, and the Maximals gained an unlikely ally: Tarantulas. Dinobot, like his fellow Maximals, greeted the Predacon turncoat with bared weapons and only reluctantly allowed Tarantulas to aid them. Subsequently, Dinobot joined an assault on the Metal Hunter itself, a cover for Tarantulas's entry. The Metal Hunter was destroyed. Other Visits (Part 2)

When Silverbolt went missing during an energon storm while he, Cheetor, and Optimus Primal were investigating Protoform X, Dinobot suggested they forget the Fuzor and concentrate on the Predacons. The enemy was, after all, minus both Tarantulas and Blackarachnia, while they were only down one member. Primal rejected Dinobot's lack of sympathy. As Primal and Cheetor left to find Silverbolt, Dinobot turned to one of the Axalons consoles and began downloading into its database. Bad Spark

Unlike Primal, Rattrap was not so forgiving of Dinobot's earlier betrayal. After contemplating suicide and enduring Rattrap's continuing recriminations, Dinobot decided to set things right. He tracked Megatron down and found him testing the original disk which Dinobot had returned. Megatron had discovered a mountain whose image was recorded on the disk, and he had Rampage destroy the peak. From a distance, Dinobot saw his greatest hope and worst fear form simultaneously: The disk's image changed. Dinobot's future was his own...but Megatron had virtually limitless power to change it.

When the Predacons launched an attack on a tribe of protohumans, attempting to destroy the future human race and alter the course of the Autobot/Decepticon war, Dinobot singlehandedly took on all of them. Having already been blindsided by Tarantulas (and having squashed him under a rock in retaliation), he ambushed Inferno, burying his sword in the latter's chest. Blackarachnia banged him up with her machine guns until Dinobot used Inferno himself as a shield, after which he blew away both Predacons with the ant-bot's own gun.

Dinobot proceeded to bombard Rampage from above until Waspinator shot him down (and caused him to land on top of the luckless flier); when Rampage tried to retaliate in tank mode, Dinobot shoved the downed Waspinator into the mad experiment's cannon, causing Rampage to blow himself apart. The backfire sent the warrior flying with severe damage, and Quickstrike was eager to add to his pain. Despite his optic weaponry shorting out, Dinobot still managed to beat the Fuzor, pummeling him with his bare hands before slamming him head-first into a rock.

At this point, his internal computer attempted to engage stasis lock to save his remaining energy, but Dinobot overrode it and turned to face his final opponent: Megatron himself. Mocking the weakened Dinobot, Megatron tallied the score firmly in his own favor: He had unimaginable power via the Golden Disk, he held a lone protohuman hostage, and the severely damaged Dinobot was the only obstacle in his reality-warping plan. Mostly depowered, severely outmatched, and refusing to quit, Dinobot jammed a rock through a stick and attacked with the makeshift hammer. As the protohuman's bonds dissolved, Megatron dropped the disk, allowing Dinobot to shatter it with his last bit of energy.

The rest of the Maximals arrived to drive Megatron off, but it was too late for their comrade. After a final conversation with his allies (including a last insult to Rattrap and a request to have his story told truly and without embellishment), Dinobot's spark left his frame. He was given a hero's funeral, with his body cremated as the Maximal fliers executed a Missing man formation.
:Part of the first wave of Beast Wars product, Dinobot transforms into what his bio claims is a "vicious velociraptor". His tail detaches and separates to form a gear-powered, spinning blade weapon, while the central "tail bone" separates to be used as a sword. The entire assembly can store in robot mode by flipping down the tail-mount and pegging the blade's base to the peg on his lower back. Like all early Deluxe-and-up Beast Wars toys, he has a "mutant mask", halves of a dino-skull that flip up to cover his more robotic head.

:The original Dinobots shipped on cards with "rocky"-shaped bubbles. Later (and more numerous) assortments moved to a smooth, rounded bubble, leading the first packaging type to become sought-after collectibles on the secondary market.
In January 1997, Takara redecoed many of the Beast Wars toys and re-released them in slightly more show-like tones; Dinobot's pink was changed to tan, his orange robot eyes became red, his flat blue face became metallic blue, his orange dinosaur eyes became white, and his helmet was painted in metallic gold.

: In 1998, TV Magazine offered a gold chrome Dinobot as a prize. : This release is yet another redeco of the original Dinobot toy. Though the Beast Wars 10th Anniversary line's aim was "show-accuracy", the resulting Dinobot toy confused some fans, with its dark brown base color, odd placement of blue, and, mostly, the metallic green on his bone-like decorations. Like the other 10th Anniversary toys, he has a faction symbol tampoed on his body; in Dinobot's case, there's a Maximal logo on the left side of his robot chest. Like FoxKids! Dinobot, this toy has the Energon Chip indent and shoulder ratchets that were added for Beast Wars Grimlock.
Dinobot uses almost all of Longrack's new-mold parts save for the head; Hoist's was a dead ringer for Dinobot in the first place. He transforms into a Cybertronic excavator. Inserting a Cyber Key or Golden Disk Key into his shoulder assembly unlocks a shovel-punch attack activated by pressing on the plunger mechanism above the key port. Like Longrack, he does not come with a Mini-Con partner. The color scheme is partially based on his 10th Anniversary toy.
**Accessories: sword, spinning tail weapon

:Celebrating Japan's 10th anniversary of Beast Wars (one year later than the West), the Beast Wars Telemocha version of Dinobot is yet another (and final?) redeco of the venerable tooling, including the shoulder ratcheting added to the previous Hasbro versions. While definitely more accurate to the CGI model than the Hasbro 10th Anniversary version from the previous year, most of its color-scheme decisions favor the robot mode, such as bronze/gold shoulder joints. The result of this is a less consistently colored beast mode than the Hasbro version. It is the first (and only) version of the mold to place deco on the "mutant mask" halves.

:Though there are some colors dropped between the transition from CGI model to toy, Telemocha Dinobot does currently hold the prize for the sheer number of paint applications used on this mold, and by a large margin. Perhaps most significant to many fans, however, is that this version of Dinobot has a mouth, if only in the form of a paint operation.

:This release of Dinobot came with a DVD containing the Beast Wars episode... "New Weapons of Terror!", the Japanese dub of "The Probe" and not "Code of Hero".

:Dinobot transforms into a brown and amber Jurassic Park-style Velociraptor with a robot mode styled heavily after the Beast Wars CGI model, including a face with a nose and mouth. To this end, his transformation has been altered accordingly for more human-like proportions, with his robot legs now becoming the raptor legs and the arms hiding mostly inside the torso. He also sports a fully show accurate robot head with can turn as usual, but can also look up at a 45 degree angle. On his chest is a panel that can swap between Maximal and Predacon faction symbols and a blank third panel (for the beast mode head). His show-accurate double opposable thumbs can be swapped out for "proper" fists, and his tail still detaches. It becomes a weapon that splits similarly to the original's, but now no longer rotates but fires a missile shaped like his sword from the cartoon, which can actually be held as a sword by either the regular fist or claw hands. The tail can also clip onto his back for storage.
:In 2006, First 4 Figures announced a seven-inch tall mini-bust of Dinobot, featuring his upper torso mounted upon a Maximal pedestal. He was sculpted by Ryan Bailey and was to be limited to 1,996 pieces. He is based upon his animated appearance, mounted on a silver pedestal adorned with the Maximal sigil.
*Dinobot's original toy was designed to supplant a failed lion Transformer counterpart to Cheetor that ended up being, understandably, too similar to Cheetor. A dinosaur's entry into the Maximals was justified by pointing out that the Dinobots had been good guys in Generation 1.

*In the first Beast Wars toy commercials, Dinobot had a slightly different deco than the final toy. He was browner, rather than pinker, and had thicker stripes.
*Some fans are inclined to yank off Dinobot's mutant mask pieces, since he doesn't have them on the television show, they get in the way during transformation, and they're easily removable. Ten years later, Hasbro thought so, too, in their stock photography for Beast Wars 10th Anniversary Dinobot.

*An actual (i.e. non-McDonald's affiliated) Transmetal Dinobot apparently made it to concept art stages, but not much further. Several elements of the design were recycled for Transmetal Terrorsaur.
*Dinobot's toy curiously has six toes on each foot. Since his legs form his robot-mode arms, not only does this mean he's left with two thumbs, but also a tiny, barely noticeable finger molded near his wrist. The double thumbs got carried over onto his animation model, yet his in-show beast mode appears to only have three toes. Between all this, it has to be said that real-life raptors had no more than four toes on each of their feet.

Television related
*Dinobot and Airazor never talk to each other in the cartoon.

*Several views of preliminary Beast Wars CGI models were available in the Special Features of Kid Rhino's Beast Wars: The Complete Second Season DVD box set. Dinobot's early model, like the other preliminary models, took more cues from the toy, such as including the mutant head and actually looking transformable. Interestingly enough, the preliminary model transformed into the final beast mode model, but since Dinobot's transformation involves swapping out parts, that's not too hard to believe.

*Australia's Beast Wars DVD sets from Madman Entertainment offered images of in-progress Dinobot models from later into production. Even in this late stage, he kept a large amount of his transformation kibble, though the aesthetic flourishes (like the spines on his ankles and the ribs in his torso) began to take shape. And, hey, check out that chin.
*In an interview on Madman's Season 3 DVDs, Scott McNeil revealed that he created the Dinobot voice by using his previous experience mimicking Chris Latta's famous performance of Cobra Commander when replacing him in the role after his death. Since he found the Latta-style vocalisation so difficult to maintain, he tried dropping it two octaves, and thus arrived at Dinobot.
*In the Japanese dub of Beast Wars, Dinobot spoke with a protracted and emphatic -dā attached to the ends of his sentences. This is a vocal tick associated with older, archaic forms of speech, signifying his old-timey sensibilities and concepts of honor.
*Dinobot appears to have a similar personality to Starscream.

Fandom related
*Some fans humorously refer to Dinobot's Cyber-slash tail weapon as a "Rotate Blade" because of its usage in a terrible fanfic by MG-Dinobot.
*Likewise, fans refer to Dinobot as having a "rigid grill structure", an injoke that came into being because of an alt.toys.transformers poster's somewhat confusing signature that included a quote from Mystery Science Theater 3000. What part of Dinobot is the rigid grill structure is not definitively determined, whether it be the bony pair of robot legs that hang under his toy's beast mode or his, uh, crotch.
*Speaking of Dinobot's crotch, Mainframe Entertainment once had a little fun with Dinobot's model after hours. "Dirk Dinobot" may not be safe for work, but his grill structure here is anything but rigid! Fan James Hooks was responsible for originally posting the Dirk Dinobot image on alt.toys.transformers, thanks to an unknown person from Mainframe Entertainment.
*On May 7, 2010, he was unveiled as one of the first five nominees for the Transformers Hall of Fame, the first Beast Wars character to earn the honor and the only character not to be from 1984 or 1985. A tongue-in-cheek campaign for Dinobot was started by David Willis, with the gag being that he'd never beat the 1984/5 characters. To everyone's surprise, at 2010's Hall of Fame ceremony, Dinobot was unveiled as the winner: he became both the first Beast Wars character and first fan-voted to be inducted, beating out even long time favorites Soundwave and Grimlock! As is the nature of online fan communities, this immediately spawned disbelief and outrage in some sections of the fandom, as well as a conspiracy theory about how Beast Wars fans had somehow "cheated" or "rigged the vote".
A Maximal science vessel and a fugitive Predacon starship crash land on a mysterious, primitive world.

Synopsis
In an unknown star system, a transwarp portal opens, releasing two starships, a fleeing Predacon warship and a pursuing Maximal vessel. Already carrying the scars of battle, both ships immediately open fire upon each other. On the Maximal ship, a youthful crewmember reports on their damaged condition, in response to which another crew member bitterly complains about their non-combat exploration vessel not being cut out for this mission. Their commander, Optimus Primal, states that they were the only ship in range capable of intercepting the fugitives.

On the fleeing Predacon starship, the first officer urges his leader, Megatron, to finish off the Maximals while their opponents' shields are down. Megatron arrogantly rebuffs this suggestion, preferring to toy with his opponents. A broadside attack cripples their enemies' engines and causes significant damage to their stasis hold. Optimus Primal orders the Maximals' cargo of stasis pods be released into safe orbit before firing the forward plasma cannons, strafing the Predacons' hull. With no engines, both ships are caught in the planet's gravitational pull and plummet to its surface.

Both ships are non-flightworthy after their crashes. The Maximals have landed on a cliff above a lake; the Predacon warship has landed smack in the middle of the ash-hardened opening of an active shield volcano. The Predacon computer informs Megatron that their location is unknown, as while the course settings were accurate, the readings were not consistent with what was to be expected of the location. Dismissing this for the time being, Megatron demands to know if the mysterious planet has energon, which the computer confirms to his elation. However, it warns that there is so much energon that prolonged exposure would permanently damage their robot modes. Declaring that they will take the forms of the most powerful creatures on the planet, Megatron orders his science officer to scan for local lifeforms which they could adapt as alternate modes to survive on this world. The Predacon ship launches a drone, scanning the fossils of a Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, and Pteranodon, as well as a living spider and wasp.

At the cliff, the Maximals have the same idea, scanning a gorilla, rat, rhino and cheetah. The Maximals check out their new forms and bicker amongst themselves, till Optimus Primal orders the crew to moderate their conflict circuits, reminding them that their new beast forms are to protect them from the long-term effects of the abundant energon fields: While they need energon for power, their robot modes will short out after a few minutes of exposure. Optimus notes that they are on a very unusual planet, wherever it is. Rhinox points out that the transwarp drive allows them to journey through space and time, so they could be in any place, any time. Optimus expresses concern about the stasis pods in orbit, as it means the Maximals are outnumbered.

Back at the other crash site, the Predacons are testing out their new beast modes, bar one. First officer Dinobot, studying the Golden Disk he and his cohorts had stolen, is furious, declaring that this world cannot be Earth. He accuses Megatron of failure, both in battle against the Maximals and in failing to guide them to the right planet. Megatron laughs off Dinobot's accusations, and has Scorponok blast the treacherous Dinobot over the horizon. Megatron informs the other Predacons that it doesn't matter which planet they are on, as they had come looking for energon to fuel their war with the Maximals, and this planet is rich with it. Megatron dispatches his crew to seek out and destroy their enemies.

Meanwhile, the Maximals are surveying the land around them and cleaning up the wreckage on the Axalon. Rattrap complains about all the fuss over the Golden Disk, but Optimus Primal reminds him that the Disk is Cybertron's most closely guarded relic, a guide to a major source of energon, which is why Megatron stole it. Rattrap doesn't care, retorting they were supposed to be performing deep-space exploration and that it isn't his job to chase after criminals. He sarcastically speculates on Primal's readiness to handle a command position. Optimus further reminds him of the Great War, noting that if the Predacons are able to secure a massive source of energon, they wouldn't hesitate to start a new one. Rattrap isn't convinced.

Deciding to show off (and goof off), Cheetor gives chase to two cheetahs running on the plains near the ship. Optimus tries to call him back, but the energon radiation severely limits the range of their communications equipment.

Some distance away, Cheetor's two cheetah buddies are freaked out by a rather large wasp. Realizing it's a Robot in Disguise, Cheetor transforms and fires unprovoked. The Predacon Waspinator transforms and retaliates. Back at the Axalon, the other Maximals move out to give Cheetor backup, with Rhinox ramming his way through a pile of boulders to speed their progress. Waspinator manages to get the better of Cheetor when the Maximal's rifle jams, but fortunately, the other Maximals have arrived by then. Unfortunately, Megatron and the Predacons have arrived as well.

Optimus Primal tries to convince Megatron to not engage in hostilities, as the Maximals and Predacons have been at peace for centuries. Megatron spits back that while the Maximals may have been at peace, the Predacons, like all enemies who appear "peaceful," were merely biding their time. The Predacons have never forgotten their goal of galactic conquest, but were merely waiting for the right time to strike.

Both sides transform, and the battle is joined. As the Maximals seek cover, Cheetor is blasted by one of Scorponok's missiles and ends up with his leg trapped under a boulder. Optimus Primal orders Rattrap to assist Cheetor while he provides cover fire, but Rattrap flatly refuses to risk his life for anybody else, to Optimus' anger. The Maximal leader flies to Cheetor's position himself but is hit by Predacon fire, much to Rattrap's smug delight. Nonetheless, Optimus manages to free Cheetor while Rhinox "persuades" Rattrap to help provide the pair with cover fire. With the Predacons now seeking cover of their own, the Maximals make their escape. Megatron orders pursuit, but he and his Predacons succumb to the effects of the energon buildup and are forced to revert to beast mode.

On the way back to base, Optimus Primal chews out Rattrap for disobeying a direct order, explaining to the petulant Maximal that he could have given better cover fire, an explanation which Rattrap accepts rather grudgingly. Cheetor notes that they seem to have escaped the Predacons. Primal isn't sure, as the Golden Disk theft reports indicated there were six Predacons, but they only encountered five in the previous battle.

They don't have to wait long. Dinobot appears, barring their way across a stone bridge to the Axalon. Dinobot states that he has left the Predacons to join the Maximals... as leader. He challenges Optimus Primal to a one-on-one battle, with the winner to lead the Maximals, the loser to be destroyed!
Animation and technical errors
* When Waspinator fights Cheetor, the stripes on his thighs are mapped on the wrong axis, and in one shot, is missing his crotch.
* As Optimus, Rhinox and Rattrap ride out to give Cheetor support, Rhinox breaks through a "roadblock" of boulders. However, in the previous shot of this location, the boulders were not present.
* When Rhinox picks up Rattrap and swings him around to face the Predacons, Rattrap's gun clips right through the boulder in front of them.
* Scorponok is among the Predacons milling about outside the ship in their beast modes, yet he appears from within the ship to blast Dinobot only a few moments later.
* During the battle between Dinobot and Optimus, Dinobot's spinning blades are severely shortened and misshapen, making them appear to have been chibified.
*Also during their battle, when Dinobot transforms his knee-pads and the bones around his ankles are absent.

Continuity errors
* Cheetor spends the longest time in the open while in robot mode, but does not suffer the effects of energon overload that the Predacons do.
::*The Japanese version of this episode begins with a Star Wars-style scrolling recap of the history of the Transformers, narrated by both the Maximal and Predacon computer voices talking simultaneously. This worked out fairly well, since the episode begins with a placid pan of an outerspace backdrop, followed by a running battle between spaceships, as if it was tailor-made for this kind of parody.
Trivia
* Before they gain their beast modes, the Maximals and Predacons are shown mostly in shadow. This is probably to save the animators the trouble of coming up with entirely different models for each character. However, if one pays close attention, there are some marked differences to the facial areas shown, and Rattrap's arms are slightly different.
* Megatron, who is seen almost entirely prior to getting his beast form, reuses the body of the Giant Robot from Mainframe's other show, ReBoot, albeit with a few small modifications and Megatron's head slapped on top. The model would continue to be reused, including as Blackarachnia's protoform (again with modifications) and various generic Predacons in "The Agenda (Part 1)".
* When Rhinox is fixing something outside, the "Gas Bottle" looks like the model sub seen later on in other episodes.
* Rattrap's gun has 3 spider kill-marks on it. Has he killed spider-bots before?
* As this was the first episode, the transformation/catchphrase sequences are rather overbearing by comparison to later episodes of the series.
* If the Beast Warriors are on an "unknown planet", presumably containing animals they've never seen before... how does everybody manage to think up such fitting new beast-mode-based names? (Presumably, not all information about Earth was off-limits.) A major example is Cheetor, who recognizes that he has become a Cheetah, despite having not seen one before.
* During the scene in which the Maximals reveal their new beast modes, it is not clear why they (bar Optimus Primal) had to rename themselves. Maximal military or exploration tradition?
* Throughout this episode and "Beast Wars (Part 2)", Scorponok's missiles have a Maximal insignia on them, meant to indicate Maximal kills. This confused viewers into thinking that they were mistakenly "Maximal missiles", so the symbols were changed.
* Cheetor has the dual honour of being the first character to appear in Beast Wars, as well as the first character to fire a shot (unprovoked) at the enemy. Cheetor also has the honour of speaking the final words of the Beast Era in the final episode of the Beast Wars sequel, Beast Machines.
* Dinobot has the distinction of being the first Beast Wars character to transform into robot mode.
* This episode marks the only instance in the entire series in which Dinobot uses the "Terrorize!" activation code, despite nominally being a Predacon. He would later reprogram himself with the Maximal activation code.
* Waspinator fires pink eye lasers (similar to Dinobot's) during his battle with Cheetor.
* Rattrap is a serious asshole this early in the series.
* Going by their options for beast modes, it would appear the Maximals crashed in what would become the African continent, while the Predacons crashed in what would become the American continent. This would, however, require that Dinobot's alternate mode is not an actual velociraptor, but rather an american genus of dromaesauridae, as velociraptors are only found in Mongolia.
