At an early age, '''Shadow Striker''' (aka '''Shadowstalker''') and her [[Relatives|sister]] [[Roulette (Universe)|Roulette]] watched as [[Roulette and Shadow Striker's sister|their sister]] was destroyed at the hands of [[Maraudicon|nomadic invader]]s. This traumatic event caused her to realize the difference between those who wielded power and those who ''were'' power. She grew up to become a bold, resourceful criminal who ran constant jobs for the various gangsters on Cybertron, particularly [[Cryotek (RID)|Cryotek]].

Shadow Striker's hot rod engine can deploy a sonic dampening cone around her that gives her temporary stealth, and she carries a small acid blaster. Despite her resourcefulness, she can be easily manipulated when it comes to her remaining sister. Threaten Roulette and you'll get whatever you want from her.

Shadow Striker, her sister, and fellow Autobots [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]], [[Sunstreaker (G1)|Sunstreaker]], and [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] returned to Cybertron after a long absence. The planet's [[Maximal]]s welcomed them home, but the celebration was interrupted by [[Unicron]], who abducted all five Autobots, as well as the Maximals [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]]. Transported to the [[Pit (Universe)|Pit]], deep within the Chaos Bringer, Shadow Striker was physically and mentally tortured, and her body was changed into a new form. Soon she and her fellow abductees were stolen away by [[Cauldron drone|strange beings]] and locked inside the [[Cauldron]], where they would be forced to fight each other, the loser giving up their [[Spark]] to re-energize Unicron. {{storylink|Abduction}}

Although she and many other prisoners were freed by [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]], Shadow Striker had been corrupted by Unicron's influence. As they raced away from the Cauldron, she sped ahead of them, abruptly turned, and bombed a hole in the road that was leading them away from the pursuing [[Minion of Unicron (Universe)|Minions of Unicron]]. Primal was nonetheless able to use his link with [[Primus]] to lead his makeshift army to freedom, and Shadow Striker remained behind with the rest of Unicron's Minions. {{storylink|Escape (Universe)|Escape}}

==Synopsis==
Colonel Horiuchi and Lieutenants Klonowski and Larsen drive to the [[Autobot]]s hideout to replace Bumblebee's damaged and unresponsive badge, which (they believe) has trapped Bumblebee in vehicle mode. Klonowski worries that their unauthorized methods will be discovered, but the Colonel believes that his control of the Autobots and Skywarp's capture will earn commendation for their actions.

At the cave, Ratchet welcomes the Colonel and tells him that, regardless of what Bumblebee said yesterday, the rest of them fully support Horiuchi's plan. While Klonowski is replacing the damaged badge, Horiuchi turns to Ratchet and tries to ease tensions, proposing that after they succeed, the alliance could go public, but his suggestion of setting aside a piece of land for the Autobots sounds more like imprisonment to Ratchet. Klonowski notices some rust and a new license plate on the silent Bamboozlebee, but does not catch on. When Horiuchi punches Bumblebee's call sign into his control board, nothing happens. He gives up and angrily orders Klonowski to tell Sanjay Bharwaney that he needs a replacement control board. Believing that the badge may have caused more damage to Bumblebee than previously thought, Horiuchi puts Ratchet in charge and orders him to fix Bumblebee. Klonowski, unsure if his suspicions are correct, dismisses them and departs with the Colonel.

Wheeljack, via text-only frequency, tells Bumblebee that the decoy worked and passes information on Sanjay, who they now expect is constructing a second control board (at his home, due to the Horiuchi's unofficial activities). Wheeljack suggests stealing the board so that he can modify it to disable all the kill-switch badges. Bumblebee observes Sanjay's daughter Serena playing in the front yard, honks his horn to get her attention, and lures her to a hiding spot around the corner, where he transforms and reveals himself to her. Serena, like any other child, is filled with wonder and excitement, but their conversation and games are interrupted when Sanjay's housekeeper, Swati, calls Serena in for lunch from the house. Bumblebee asks Serena to get the control board for him while inside, [[Wikipedia: How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (TV special)#Plot|claiming that it's broken]], and that Sanjay could get hurt if he tries to use it. Not wanting her father to get hurt, Serena agrees to do so.

Meanwhile, Ratchet accidentally answers a texted question from Cliffjumper verbally. Back at Skywatch, Klonowski monitors the Autobots and overhears the answer with no question. Curious again, he begins searching other frequencies and eventually discovers the text communications between the Autobots. Shocked at his discovery, he prepares to tell the Colonel about his discovery when the computer alerts him of a new transmission. He listens in while Bumblebee discusses with Wheeljack and Ratchet his betrayal of Serena's trust; Bumblebee's guilt causes Klonowski to consider his own morality.

At the ruins of Skywatch's Phillips Base, a raiding Skywarp discovers information regarding the control board and muses that if only the humans had cooperated, then their deaths may not have been necessary. He transforms and flies off into the sky.

Serena returns to Bumblebee with the control board. Bumblebee sends the schematics to Ratchet, who discovers that the device contains tracking devices and cannot be taken undiscovered. Standing up to Ratchet and Wheeljack, Bumblebee refuses to abort the mission after coming so far, and convinces them to walk him though the alteration over the text frequency. Bumblebee finishes and hands the case containing the control board back to Serena and tells her to put it back where she found it. While she does, Bumblebee transforms and drives off, regretting abusing her trust, and hoping to one day repay her, unaware that Skywarp has teleported overhead.

==Synopsis==
Blurr races across the [[New Mexico]] desert, having [[Things Fall Apart, Part 2: "A Rude Awakening"|recently escaped]] a [[Skywatch]] ambush. While unsuccessfully trying to contact [[Hot Rod/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Hot Rod]], he nearly runs into a waiting [[Bumblebee (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Bumblebee]]. [[Blurr (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Blurr]] notices the new Skywatch badge on Bumblebee's chestplate and is flabbergasted that Bumblebee and his team now work for the humans, which Bumblebee says is better than hiding. He then apologizes to Blurr, tries to calm him, and explains that he's to be turned over to the humans and that he's surrounded. Distraught, Blurr shoots Bumblebee in the chest. As the rest of the team takes down Blurr, [[Ratchet (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ratchet]] tends to their leader and finds that Blurr's shot only damaged Bumblebee's Skywatch badge. Bumblebee decides to bring Blurr to the cave rather turn him over to Skywatch.

Colonel [[Gordon Horiuchi]] contacts the [[Autobot]] hideout, demanding to know why they did not deliver Blurr. Bumblebee refuses to turn him over and tells Horiuchi that he and his team are done doing his dirty work. The colonel isn't pleased with insubordination and activates the kill-switch in Bumblebee's badge to lock him in vehicle mode, but the damaged badge fails.

As Horiuchi calls Lieutenant [[Daniel Klonowski|Klonowski]] over to troubleshoot, Bumblebee starts to explain the badge's damage, but Ratchet stops him and has him feign a forced transformation. Pleased that the badge still works (or so he thinks) Horiuchi deactivates the kill-switch. At this point, Ratchet steps in and lies that Bumblebee is stuck in his vehicle form since the badge is stuck in lock mode. Klonowski tells Horiuchi that they will have to travel to the Autobot hideout in order to replace the badge. Once the transmission is discontinued, Bumblebee transforms back into robot mode. When the others stay silent, he realizes that the colonel can monitor transmissions through the badges and that he is the only one that can speak freely. Taking charge, Bumblebee vows to free the other Autobots from their slavery and quickly decides that they need to find a vehicle that matches him for the colonel's arrival.

Meanwhile, on top of the [[U-Stor-It]] complex, [[Skywarp (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Skywarp]] has assembled a communications array and attempts a message to [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]]. He states that he has collected a variety of weapons, that the killers at [[Allodyne Logic Systems|Allodyne]] and [[Dynomic]] (the manufacturers of the weapons that fought the [[Decepticon]]s) shall die by "their own swords", and that he is only days away from completing a weapon that is capable of crippling every Autobot in a single strike.

Needing Blurr's speed, Bumblebee asks him to help search for a decoy car. Blurr races through the city and eventually finds one. Back at the headquarters, Bumblebee gives a passionate speech to his Autobot comrades, swearing to release them from the humans.

Bumblebee makes his way to the shipyard to find a rare element, [[Darmstadtium]], that Wheeljack found in the damaged badge, in order to locate the manufacturer of the badges. He discovers a shipping container labeled "[[Darkmatter Logic|Darkmatter Logic Systems]]". However, he catches a glimpse of a power shovel and immediately recognizes it to be the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]] [[Scavenger (G1)|Scavenger]], who had infiltrated the shipyard so that he could sneak onto an outgoing ship to escape the stranglehold of Skywatch. Bumblebee explains to Scavenger that Autobots and Decepticons need to work together, but Scavenger attacks Bumblebee, denouncing the Autobots' goal to live in peace with the humans rather than rule over them. Bumblebee retreats, racing off into the desert against the night sky.

However, in the next issue, Lt. Klonowski listens through Ratchet's badge and is able to pick up the conversation from the other Autobots in the room. Perhaps Cannon didn't fully understand how microphones work.

==Synopsis==
Blurr races across the [[New Mexico]] desert, having [[Things Fall Apart, Part 2: "A Rude Awakening"|recently escaped]] a [[Skywatch]] ambush. While unsuccessfully trying to contact [[Hot Rod/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Hot Rod]], he nearly runs into a waiting [[Bumblebee (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Bumblebee]]. [[Blurr (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Blurr]] notices the new Skywatch badge on Bumblebee's chestplate and is flabbergasted that Bumblebee and his team now work for the humans, which Bumblebee says is better than hiding. He then apologizes to Blurr, tries to calm him, and explains that he's to be turned over to the humans and that he's surrounded. Distraught, Blurr shoots Bumblebee in the chest. As the rest of the team takes down Blurr, [[Ratchet (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Ratchet]] tends to their leader and finds that Blurr's shot only damaged Bumblebee's Skywatch badge. Bumblebee decides to bring Blurr to the cave rather turn him over to Skywatch.

Colonel [[Gordon Horiuchi]] contacts the [[Autobot]] hideout, demanding to know why they did not deliver Blurr. Bumblebee refuses to turn him over and tells Horiuchi that he and his team are done doing his dirty work. The colonel isn't pleased with insubordination and activates the kill-switch in Bumblebee's badge to lock him in vehicle mode, but the damaged badge fails.

As Horiuchi calls Lieutenant [[Daniel Klonowski|Klonowski]] over to troubleshoot, Bumblebee starts to explain the badge's damage, but Ratchet stops him and has him feign a forced transformation. Pleased that the badge still works (or so he thinks) Horiuchi deactivates the kill-switch. At this point, Ratchet steps in and lies that Bumblebee is stuck in his vehicle form since the badge is stuck in lock mode. Klonowski tells Horiuchi that they will have to travel to the Autobot hideout in order to replace the badge. Once the transmission is discontinued, Bumblebee transforms back into robot mode. When the others stay silent, he realizes that the colonel can monitor transmissions through the badges and that he is the only one that can speak freely. Taking charge, Bumblebee vows to free the other Autobots from their slavery and quickly decides that they need to find a vehicle that matches him for the colonel's arrival.

Meanwhile, on top of the [[U-Stor-It]] complex, [[Skywarp (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Skywarp]] has assembled a communications array and attempts a message to [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]]. He states that he has collected a variety of weapons, that the killers at [[Allodyne Logic Systems|Allodyne]] and [[Dynomic]] (the manufacturers of the weapons that fought the [[Decepticon]]s) shall die by "their own swords", and that he is only days away from completing a weapon that is capable of crippling every Autobot in a single strike.

Needing Blurr's speed, Bumblebee asks him to help search for a decoy car. Blurr races through the city and eventually finds one. Back at the headquarters, Bumblebee gives a passionate speech to his Autobot comrades, swearing to release them from the humans.

Bumblebee makes his way to the shipyard to find a rare element, [[Darmstadtium]], that Wheeljack found in the damaged badge, in order to locate the manufacturer of the badges. He discovers a shipping container labeled "[[Darkmatter Logic|Darkmatter Logic Systems]]". However, he catches a glimpse of a power shovel and immediately recognizes it to be the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicon]] [[Scavenger (G1)|Scavenger]], who had infiltrated the shipyard so that he could sneak onto an outgoing ship to escape the stranglehold of Skywatch. Bumblebee explains to Scavenger that Autobots and Decepticons need to work together, but Scavenger attacks Bumblebee, denouncing the Autobots' goal to live in peace with the humans rather than rule over them. Bumblebee retreats, racing off into the desert against the night sky.

*The way the badges work as a microphone for Horichi's men to spy on the Autobots is inconsistent in this issue. Before Horiuchi uses the badge to lock Cliffjumper in alt mode, Ratchet spoke about the badges being used a communication device to spy on them. To avoid their conversations from being intercepted by Horichi's men, Ratchet later whispers to Bumblebee to transform and play along. Yet a few dialogue bubbles later, it is revealed that because Bumblebee's badge is damaged, he is able to speak freely about his plans of finding a car as a stand-for him even though the badges on the other Autobots work perfectly. However, in the next issue, Lt. Klonowski listens through Ratchet's badge and is able to pick up the conversation from the other Autobots in the room. Perhaps Cannon didn't fully understand how microphones work.

*Writer Zander Cannon wrote Blurr's text all smashed together to simulate Blurr talking a mile-a-second. This was done to emulate [[John Moschitta]]'s voice acting from the original cartoon series, as well as the ''[[Transformers Animated (cartoon)|Transformers Animated]]'' series. However, this is the first time Blurr speaks like this in the [[IDW Generation 1 continuity|IDW continuity]].
