The power of the Necrotitan lays waste to Cybertron, while the Lost Light is pulled off-mission on an unexpected Titan Quest.

Synopsis
With the population of Iacon looking to him for guidance in the face of the Necrotitan's appearance—misinterpreted by all as the return of the previous Metrotitan—Starscream takes a moment to visit Metalhawk's body as it lies in state, once again talking out loud to his departed friend. Unfortunately for Starscream, he is entirely unaware that Rattrap is eavesdropping on him and has overheard him apologize to Metalhawk for killing him. Departing the mausoleum, Starscream tries to calm the throng of citizens outside, informing them he is going to speak to the Titan; Rattrap comes scampering up, feigning concern for Starscream, but Iacon's ruler isn't falling for the act. He's aware of Rattrap's scheming nature and respects it, proceeding to leave for the Titan after offering the ex-Autobot a nuggest of wisdom: "don't make your first move until you're sure of your last one." Rattrap takes this to heart, and decides to visit Scoop to get more information on the "Dark Cybertron" prophecy, talk of which which has somehow begun to spread among the populace despite Scoop's incarceration, and which he is starting to believe is much more than some random conspiracy theory, Scoop has realized that Starscream has an important role to play in the prophecy's catastrophic fulfillment, and in this, Rattrap sees an opportunity...

On the Lost Light, Ultra Magnus is distracted from the unease he feels with his new captaincy when the ship is unexpectedly pulled off course. Magnus and Getaway are summoned to Brainstorm's lab to witness the cause of their sudden change of direction: Metroplex's severed thumb, on board since the ship's encounter with the Titan Hunters, is levitating, pulling on the craft, and Brainstorm theorises that Metroplex is trying to call them to him.

At the Necrotitan's feet, the battle between Bumblebee's Autobots and Soundwave's Decepticons is brought to a halt by the appearance of Starscream overhead, heading for the Titan. Prowl is infuriated by Bumblebee's willingness to compare notes with the Decepticons, insisting on immediate action, but before anyone can do anything, Starscream lands on the Titan's shoulder and tries to speak with it. The giant's eyes flare to life... and it emits a colossal energy wave that tears across the surface of the planet, devastating everything in its path. The shattered Autobots and Decepticons, many gravely wounded, try to take stock of the sudden, violent eruption, while Starscream rockets away, just ahead of the wave, trying to beat it back to Iacon. He calls for his subjects to flee, and tries to stand in the wave's path, but it sweeps over Iacon irresistibly, putting the city to ruin. The wave also has a second, unexpected effect: it brings Metalhawk back to life! The reanimated NAIL turns on Starscream, hungry for vengeance, but after trading a few blows, announces that now is not the time to settle old accounts. Instead, Metalhawk smashes into the vault holding the immobilized form of Megatron, deactivates the stasis field restraining the Decepticon leader, and absconds with his unconscious body. His departure is observed by Rattrap and a liberated Scoop, now conspiring against Starscream together, but for the moment, Scoop is more concerned with helping the victims of the disaster.

Back on the Lost Light, Ratchet argues against looking for Metroplex, on the basis that Orion Pax's request for them to hunt down Jhiaxus takes precedence. Brainstorm and Perceptor, however, advocate following Metroplex's signal, and manage to bring Magnus around to their side. The Lost Light locks on to Metroplex's signal and quantum jumps to its source, materializing beneath a blood-red ocean on an unknown world, where it is immediately beset by a swarm of robotic lifeforms!

Metalhawk delivers Megatron to Shockwave, who clearly has plans for the space bridge technology contained within his former leader's body. As Megatron awakes, Shockwave is confident that he will help fulfill their plans, as doing so will realize all their dreams...
Notes
Continuity notes
*Starscream killed Metalhawk in issue #16. We previously saw him visiting his dead body and talking to it in issue #20.
*Scoop's Targetmaster partners Tracer and Holepunch were conspicuous by their absence from his company in issue #20, but they appear among the citizens of Iacon on page 3. And right when word of something only Scoop knows about is spreading through the citizenry! What are the odds?
*While discussing conspiracies, Rattrap refers to the explosion of the Toraxxis mega-refinery, which occurred in Monstrosity #4. Popular conspiracy theory apparently blames Optimus Prime for triggering the explosion, when it was actually Scorponok's doing.
*He also notes another conspiracy theory: that Ultra Magnus is really a "little guy in armor". Little does he know that that one is true, as we learned in More than Meets the Eye #19!
*Magnus refers to an unnamed friend from Earth from whom he learned the word "meh"; clearly, he's talking about Verity Carlo, whose association with him was covered in Last Stand of the Wreckers.
*Magnus's dislike of ambiguity in speech is flagged up by Getaway, previously explored in "Signal to Noise".
*The Lost Light brought Metroplex's thumb on board in Spotlight: Trailcutter.
*Turns out that when Megatron transferred his spark et al into his new body back in issue #14, the space bridge technology that had been a defining feature of his previous form (seen in the 2009-2011 ongoing series) was also tranplanted along with it.

Real-life references
*Ravage paraphrases the classic opening from the 1950s Superman TV series—"Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!"—when he spots Starscream heading for the Titan: "Up. In the sky... it's a plane..."

Trivia
*As in Chapter 2, Rojo illustrates the scenes on Cybertron, while Raiz lends his lines to those on the Lost Light.

Errors
*Starscream is misspelt as Starcream on page 6. Perhaps that member of the Cybertronian electorate is just politically apathetic and unaware of his correct name?

*Metalhawk is missing the wrong arm on the last page.

As battle rages on Cybertron's surface, the Wreckers infiltrate the Warworld, but when their confrontation with Bludgeon goes wrong, help arrives in a most unexpected form!

Synopsis
Cybertron is a battlefield: Omega Supreme and Monstructor grapple, Soundwave and Blaster engage in a sonic duel, Ultra Magnus leads the charge against the army of Blitz Engines, and the airborne Autobots unleash their combined firepower against the Warworld. Bludgeon permits the Decepticons to join the fighting themselves, but surprises them by electing to remain on the Warworld, secretly aware that the Wreckers have managed to land a ship on the giant craft's surface and have penetrated its hull.

In the Primus chamber, deep within Cybertron, Grimlock awakens, free of possession by Primus and needing to be brought up to date by his Dinobots. As they attempt to talk, the demons come spilling into the chamber, and a furious Grimlock, his eyes glowing with the power of Primus, transforms to dinosaur mode. The roar he unleashes takes the fight right out of the creatures and sends them into genuflections. The Dinobots proceed to head back to the surface, and the demons loyally follow their new master, prompting Slag to recall Hot Rod's plan to reintegrate the Cybertronian race, and Grimlock to speculate that this is all part of some grand plan...

Aboard the Warworld, Bludgeon launches a sudden, vicious solo attack on the Wreckers, affecting their perceptions with his Metallikato mind-tricks and walking all over them. Roadbuster urges Kup to escape and locate their primary target—the reservoir of Matrix energy animating the Blitz Engines—but Bludgeon pursues the elderly Autobot as he makes for the craft's bridge on a rail-transport car.

Down on the planet's surface, the Decepticons join the fight, pushing the Autobots back even further. Crosshairs is not optimistic for the conflict's outcome, but Ultra Magnus holds out hope for a miracle, even as the bridge his team is standing on is blown out from under them. But he is not wrong to hope: that miracle soon arrives in the form of the Dinobots, who, along with the loyal demons, tear into the Decepticons and their weapons or war. The tide of battle is turning, as Blaster claims victory over Soundwave, circumventing his opponent's senses-distorting sonic trickery by simply bombarding him with face-rocking tunes.

On the Warworld's bridge, Bludgeon stands over a fallen Kup, preparing to deliver a killing stroke with his sword, when suddenly, in a flash of light, Hot Rod returns from his trip through Zero Space, now transformed by the power of the Matrix into Rodimus Prime! Stunned by Rodimus's ability to snatch his sword out of the air, Bludgeon realizes that Rodimus is the opponent who is fated to destroy him, and demands that he grant him his destined death. Rodimus is only too happy to oblige, seizing the skeletal samurai's leg and hurling him through the Warworld's "windshield". Sent hurtling down to Cybertron's surface, Bludgeon burns up as enters the planet's atmosphere, and dramatically explodes on impact. Just when Rodimus and Kup think they have a moment's respite, however, the Warworld begins to quake: Starscream, urged on by Shockwave, has had an attack of conscience, and has returned with the Ark to bring the legendary vessel's firepower to bear on Bludgeon's ship! As the Warworld comes apart around them, the Wreckers race to abandon ship.

Down below, the fight has definitively tipped in the Autobots' favor: with the Warworld crumbling, the flow of Matrix energy being projected to the Blitz Engines ceases, and the drones begin staying down under the Dinobots' and demons' assault. Magnus leads one last mighty push back against the Decepticons, and Omega Supreme triumphs over Monstructor, blasting him to bits. The Warworld explodes, filling the sky with fire, but as the onlooking Autobots cheer, aboard the Wreckers' craft—safely making its way back to the planet's surface—Rodimus Prime is not yet ready to celebrate. The visions shown to him by Primus in Zero Space still haunt his memory... as within Cybertron, the face of the Transformers' creator-god begins to glow...
"Why are we even still here?"<br>
"For the simple reason, Starscream, you have yet to specify a new flight plan."
:—Starscream being clueless and Shockwave being logical. Some things never change.

"Maybe you're right Soundwave. Compared to you, I am just a blunt instrument. But my philosophy...<br>
KERAAANNNNG!!!<br>
"...is play to your strengths!"
:—Blaster turns the volume up and wins the final round of Guitar Hero from Soundwave

"Final computation: I have taken your measure, gestalt...and found it wanting!"
:—Omega Supreme, delivering the killing blast through Monstructor's midsection

"Autobots--one last charge! Those...creatures are fighting and dying for Cybertron! Can we do less?"
:—Ultra Magnus, maybe there was something to Hot Rod's Plan to bring the Demons to the surface after all
Notes
Errors
*In his appearance on the Warworld's bridge, Skullcruncher is almost completely miscolored. His face is colored green, instead of the toy and comics' gold. In addition to his arms sporting the same shade of green, it's a much lighter green than he was portrayed with in the original Marvel run, and there's no pink to be found. His beast altmode isn't shown anywhere in the story, so it's left to the caption to tell us who he is.

Continuity notes
*Snarl's popped back up after being oddly absent from issue #94; guess he was just off-panel for the whole thing!
*We saw Bludgeon's vision of his own death in issue #93. That seemed to imply he had died on the battlefield, but that's not quite how things unfold here.
*Blaster, in defeating Soundwave, notes that "The flip-side to hyper-senses [is] hyper-pain". This was, of course, the nucleon-derived affliction Blaster himself suffered from during his time in the Nursery, as seen in #86.

Transformers references
*Let's be straight-up, here: Blaster and Soundwave never had any kind of rivalry in the Marvel comics. Their grudge match here, along with Omega's throwdown with Monstructor, feels a lot more like Simon Furman tying off stories he started over in the IDW Generation 1 continuity—specifically, in Spotlight: Blaster and Spotlight: Optimus Prime, respectively—that he never got to bring to a conclusion before his time on those books ended.
*The more detailed rendering we get of the partially-reconstructed Thunderwing lets us see his inner robot within his Pretender shell, something that never appeared in the Marvel US comics (but did put in a brief appearance in the UK series).
*On page 12, Monstructor clobbers Omega with a statue of Star Saber.
*"Well, that's just prime!" quips Rodimus on page 18, stealing the catchphrase of Optimus Primal.
* When Bludgeon demands death, Rodimus responds with a grim "Request granted." This echoes back to one of his more famous scenes in the Marvel UK series (pictured), from issue #114, when he slew a Decepticon begging for mercy with a roar of "Request denied!"
*Grimlock instructs the demons to "munch metal", one of his more famous quotes from The Transformers: The Movie.
*Magnus squeezes two Furmanisms into one speech balloon as he declares the demons are "fighting and dying for Cybertron! Can we do less?"
*When Blaster unleashes the sonic blast that fells Soundwave, he strikes an air guitar pose. As the Autobots spend their first night outside Iacon, Arcee struggles to adapt to a world without fighting, and Bumblebee gets a makeover.

Synopsis
As dawn breaks over Iacon, Starscream makes his speech to the assembled masses, calling for the banishment of all those who will not forego their factions. As the crowd of NAILs immediately begins to turn against the Autobots, Fixit points out that they cannot be expected to leave their wounded behind; Starscream makes clear that they do not have to leave, and even if they choose to, the injured—such as Omega Supreme and Superion—will be cared for and offered the same choice when they are well. Fixit and Ironhide try to point out the dangers of the wilderness, but Starscream counters with the fact that the signal that caused the madness outside the city was Megatron's doing, and is no more. When all of the shouting is done, the Autobots see only one path before them: if they stay, they will only wind up fighting with the NAILs, so it is for their sake, and not their own, that they depart Iacon. Led through the city gates by a weakened Bumblebee, sadly observing that former comrades like Jazz have elected to stay behind, the Autobots have barely gone a few steps before they are confronted by the Constructicons. The Dinobots immediately attack the Decepticon team, but Prowl observes that the Constructicons are not fighting to injure their opponents, and forces the battle to stop. The Constructicons explain that their combination with Prowl afforded them a look inside the Autobot's head, and they think he's "pretty awesome" and want to be on the same team as him! Bumblebee tries to explain that all the "terrible stuff" Prowl did was only a result of his mind-control by Bombshell, only for Arcee to offhandedly correct him when he claims Prowl didn't have Ratbat killed: that one, she notes, thinking that she is speaking in his favor, was all him. As Bumblebee struggles to process his new information, his injuries take their toll on him, and he collapses.

By evening, the Autobots have set up a camp, where Fixit has begun repairing Bumblebee using pieces of his old Earth-mode body and Goldfire shielding. Arcee tries to apologize to Prowl for revealing his secret, struggling for the words: repeatedly killing Jhiaxus on Gorlam Prime was simple for her, and made a kind of sense, but trying to read the emotions and social cues of ordinary Transformers is proving very difficult, and she still doesn't understand why people think and feel the way they do. Sideswipe soon proves a case in point, as he bars her way when she attempts to visit the convalescing Bumblebee, contrary to her belief that he would let her through because they made a good team during the battle for Iacon. Confused and dejected, Arcee leaves, but is suddenly struck on the head by a piece of debris tossed by one of the Constructicons, who mock her lack of an insignia and are clearly spoiling for a rematch with her. This, Arcee thinks, makes perfect sense to her, and she launches into battle with gusto. The other Autobots do nothing to stop the fight until Ironhide appears to halt it, instructing the Dinobots to watch the six troublemakers; the Constructicons shrug and accept the Dinobots' offer to go drinking, but Arcee slaps Slag's hand away and stalks off on her own. Ironhide confides in her that he is a little worried about the possibility of the signal that drove the Dinobots mad and caused the Aerialbots to spontaneously fuse into Superion reappearing during the night, and encourages her to try to get along with the others, as they'll stand a better chance together, but when he turns around, she has disappeared.

After night has fallen, Arcee knocks out Sideswipe so she can take over guarding Bumblebee herself, fairly confident that if the violence-inducing signal does return, it won't affect her, as she is already as violent as they come. She spends the night wrestling with the fact that she agrees with different elements of Decepticon and Autobot ideology, and presently, the trailer opens and Bumblebee emerges, repaired with a new golden body and in particular, a new head to replace his crushed old one. As Arcee brings him up to speed, he notices something on her shoulder: Arcee has come to a decision about who she is and what she wants to be at last, and has cut an Autobot symbol into her arm with her sword. Though a little taken aback, Bumblebee observes that they have made it through the night, as the sun begins to rise... but Arcee realizes that dawn should still be hours away. The glow on the horizon is not the sun... Arcee can sense it is the work of Jhiaxus, and as it spills across the landscape, tearing up the ground in front of it, she can tell her creator is not alone when Shockwave strides out of the light!
Notes
Continuity notes
*Omega Supreme is still unconscious after being bombed back in issue #11.
*Superion, fortunately, turns out to still be alive after Devastator tore him to bits in issue #15.
*Ironhide recalls the giant turbofox that attacked him and the Dinobots in issue #8.
*Arcee tussled with the Constructicons back in issue #4.
*Swoop is still laughing it up as he watches others fight amongst themselves, as he was back in issue #8. Guess that wasn't the work of Megatron's signal, then; IDW Swoop is just a bit of dick!
*Arcee lived on Gorlam Prime and killed Jhiaxus repeatedly between the end of Revelation and Heart of Darkness.

Transformers references
*Bumblebee's new body is, obviously enough, promoting an upcoming Generations toy which at the time of this issue's publication had not yet been formally announced by Hasbro. The body/toy is a redeco and retool of the earlier Generations Bumblebee toy that depicted the character in the body he wore for most of the ongoing series (promoted by Spotlight: Bumblebee), but obviously intended to homage his upgraded "Goldbug" form from the original Generation 1 toyline, cartoon and comic. Of note is that 'Bee's new body here incorporates the changes made to the ongoing design in the transition to toy form, such as having vehicle bumper rather than windscreen kibble on the shoulders.
*That said, Goldbug was turned into a separate character from Bumblebee in IDW continuity back in Spotlight: Metroplex, so we can probably not be expecting Bumblebee to change his name any time soon. But that works out okay, since the toy is pretty unlikely to actually be called Goldbug; the only Hasbro Goldbug figure since the original was dubbed "Gold Bumblebee", and Ironhide mentions that Bumblebee's body is being repaired with "Goldfire shielding", so we're probably looking at "Goldfire Bumblebee". The "Goldfire" prefix is not new, having previously been used by Hasbro on a golden redeco of Animated Grimlock that was never released.

Quotes
