I think some good guidelines would be:
*Absolutely no photographs of television screens.
*Avoid website watermarks whenever possible.
*Television network watermarks are acceptable, but things like "NEXT ON CARTOON NETWORK!" certainly aren't.

*Is there any way of finding a list of Wanted images? The Wanted section doesn't seem to have this facility. Arguably contributors may find it easier to contribute images (with these rules applied) rather than articles. In my newb experience, edits are much more likely to be undone than images deleted. Some may find the editorial sance daunting and stay away, but could be convinced to contribute in a way that would be much less censored. Well, I know I could. :As stated in the image policy, it ''is'' acceptable to have fan created images, as long as they're nice, clear, and you are absolutely sure you own the copyright or have permission from the original taker of the photograph. The source of the photograph will need to be identified, as well as making clear what permissions are granted. It's all laid out in the policy. I think we should edit our filesize section to include a general limit range. I think a soft limit of 150KB (the recommended max filesize for the Wiki software, gives you a warning if you go over it) is more than enough for the overwhelming majority of images used on the wiki. Since I didn't get much feedback on the Allspark, I'd like to bring it up here as well:

*Are photos taken from Cliffbee's site in fact [[:Image:G1toy_action_master_bumblebee.jpg|scanned from the ''Generations'' book]], or [[:Image:G1_Cliffjumper_toy.jpg|did he take them himself]]?

*Are photos [[:Image:Bumblebeeg1toy.jpg|taken from Seibertron.com]] "fair use"? They're most certainly not "owned by the company or corporation that produced it".

*Are [[:Image:G1toy_japanese_legends_giftset.jpg|photos from eBay auctions]] copyrighted by Hasbro and/or Takara?

I really think we need a specific license for self-taken photos that properly address the fact that a) it's a derivative work that depicts a design owned by Hasbro/Takara and b) the photographer has the rights to this particular photo (excluding the rights to the design as stated under a) and releases it to whatever. "Fair use" doesn't quite cover it and implies that someone else owns all the rights to the photo.

We also need to decide upon something more specific for "photos taken from other websites". All the photos I uploaded recently were either taken by me, or I specifically asked the photographer for permission to use them (or asked him to take the photos in the first place). I generally refrain from stealing other peoples photos (with the exception of [[:Image:Jazzscalper.jpg|rare justified cases]]).--[[User:Nevermore|Nevermore]] 11:44, 13 November 2010 (EST)

: I think we should handle the first question using exactly the kind of template you described. "It's a derivative work, but the photographer has rights to that specific photo" seems to describe the situation pretty well. To that end, it might behoove the Wiki to consult a lawyer regarding this copyright situation so that we know for sure what rights the photo takers have.

:The second question depends on the source. For a defunct auction (not all auctions are on eBay) or website where we aren't able to contact the copyright holder, I think fair use would be acceptable, if not public domain. Certainly the rights that Hasbro or Takara would hold on such pictures would be the same as for the photos we took ourselves. For active websites, we should definitely require that permission be obtained. There's no way to claim fair use for that situation. We should probably strive to try to get permission from people auctioning items while the auction is going on (if it turns out to be necessary). In the case of eBay, the images posted aren't the original digital photographs but processed versions. That might mean that what we download from eBay is actually copyrighted to eBay. I also wonder if their TOS includes anything regarding the copyright of images used in auctions?

::There are eBay auctions that use self-hosted images, hence without an eBay watermark. eBay couldn't claim rights to those photos at all. Furthermore, the only cases where I personally would use images from eBay without permission is when the image illustrates something like "toy scalping", where the photographer is highly unlikely to grant us permission because the photo will be used in a context that makes him look ''bad''. Basically, if "The only authentic photos to illustrate something will most certainly not be given permission to be be used by us by the photographer for obvious reasons", I'd make an exception. We need a "user generated photo" template to cover photos we take of toys outlining the rights Hasbro/Tomy have to the original object and releasing any rights the photographer has to the composition. Photos from defunct websites and concluded auctions should probably be tagged as fair use and replaced at the earliest opportunity with our own photos. Photos from active sites would require the user generated tag and a note as to the originating site/individual (and their consent, of course). After passing through the unstable [[Space Bridge]], Perceptor and the Autobots aboard the Ark found themselves in the vicinity of a Cybertronian colony world called [[Velocitron]]. They located it in part thanks to a mysterious starmap projected outwards from Optimus Prime's chest by the Matrix itself. As a scientist, Perceptor had difficulty with the concept of a mythical artifact guiding their movements, but Velocitron proved to be real enough. He was part of Optimus Prime's initial landing team, who made contact with the planet's rulers, [[Override (Prime)|Override]] and [[Ransack (Prime)|Ransack]]. It was a time of great stress between Velocitron's rulers, and the Autobots' arrival from mythical Cybertron only exacerbated the situation. Perceptor assisted the Velocitronians with their studies of the star, and successfully reactivated the planet's Space Bridge, reopening the world to interstellar travel.

The next leg of their journey through the Space Bridge brought the Autobots to fabled [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]], a world composed entirely of space junk. Sabotage brought down the Ark shortly after their arrival, and Optimus Prime tasked Perceptor with getting things up and running again. He also performed an exploratory check on Junkion's four Space Bridge nexii, and determined that one was indeed still in working order. (The one indicated by the Matrix, but of course Perceptor made his own observations first.) Perceptor's work proved valuable, and the Ark was able to regain flight even amidst the arrival of the ''Nemesis'' and the chaos created by the unearthed [[Requiem Blaster (Prime)|Requiem Blaster]]. After the battle over Junkion ended, Perceptor updated Optimus Prime on the status of the planet and the ships involved in the skirmish. Well, there's a conflict of opinion, so let's discuss.

Rodimus Prime never turned back into Hot Rod without removing the Matrix from his chest. The last time Rodimus Prime lost control of his transformation, he turned into the Winnebaggo as always. It looks to me more like Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime's character models got switched by mistake at some point. Gauthier is still using his Rodimus voice rather than his Hot Rod voice. He reverts back to his Rodimus model inexplicably as the Technobots fight the Terrorcons.
