I LIKED the Carwash of Doom. You losers just hate the connotation of the title. -[[User:Derik|Derik]] 21:14, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
:LOL! That's actually one bit of Marvel Wiki-ness that I ''can't'' take credit (blame?) for. Suffice it to say, I'd be perfectly happy if you decided it needed editing to something less opinionated.--[[User:G.B. Blackrock|G.B. Blackrock]] 21:27, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
Soo... 'Marvel Comics' has a landing page- but Marvel UK doesn't. And the Marvel Comics page doesn't mention or link to the Marvel UK page.

I mention because there's a whole mess of characters who need a 'Marvel UK portion of Generation 1' note in their opening note- and it'd be nice if there was a Marvel UK article to meet that need. As is I'm linking to <nowiki>[[Generation 1 (Marvel comic)#Marvel UK|Marvel UK]]</nowiki>, which is both a pain in the ass and messy.

I know nothing about Marvel UK, so I cant' write a landing page.

Also, why does this article start with 'it's a little known fact that'? That's a '''terrible''' way to start an article. It comes off as bossy and know-it-all, like the bitch Margaret from Dennis the Menace. (Uh, the cartoon.) -[[User:Derik|Derik]] 16:10, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
My overzealous touchpad was activated during the typing of that edit and decided "Restored" was quite enough of a change summary. I originally was going to say "Restored 'Marvel Zombies', previously taken out without justification by an unregistered IP circa September."

I also thought that every sentence should end with an exclamation point, but I don't have sufficient Bullpens to check that against, so I didn't change it. --[[User:Sntint|Sntint]] 12:28, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
== Planet Terry? ==
What the heck was that? I had almost all the Marvel UK run and recognise all the other back up strips but I don't remember that one at all.[[Special:Contributions/86.31.251.98|86.31.251.98]] 09:44, 29 October 2010 (EDT)
:Planet Terry originated as part of Marvel's Star Comics line of children's comics from the mid 1980's. Think "Richie Rich in space" for an idea of the look and tone. Now, if you are asking when it was printed in the UK comic, I have no idea. --[[User:Khajidha|Khajidha]] 09:49, 29 October 2010 (EDT)
'''Blaster attempts to foil a plot on his life.'''

==Synopsis==
[[File:Perceptor fixes Blaster Spotlight Blaster.jpg|thumb|left|upright=1.4]]
[[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] was once an [[Autobot]] broadcaster under the stage name of "The Voice". However, it was long after he was thought dead that he was found by [[Ku'arn]], captain of the ''[[Yar]]'' Star Trawler. This came as somewhat of a shock to [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]], aboard the [[Autobot Orbital Command Hub]]. However, he was quickly taken aboard and repaired by [[Perceptor (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Perceptor]]. The famous media personality was forced to admit that even he didn't know the circumstances of his near-death, his memories of the time just one big blank. Silverbolt tells Blaster that it was always assumed to be an inside job, as the proximity and precision needed could only have been pulled off by an Autobot.

Left to his own devices aboard the Command Hub, Blaster finds himself unable to escape the paranoia of what happened to him. Though he's greeted warmly by his fellow Autobots after his return from the dead, he can't help but wonder if one of them was the one that shot him. Worse still, he knows that they expect "The Voice", a persona he just can't muster anymore after his traumatic experience. He endeavors to catch up on the time during his absence, but his paranoia turns out to be justified as an unseen assailant takes another shot at him, then disappears into the corridors of the station.

Again the security monitors show nothing, Perceptor discovering that the assassin was using a sensor-jamming technology that prevented his identity from being discovered. Blaster decides to take matters into his own hands and bait the assassin—he goes to the broadcast station and announces that "The Voice" has returned, and will soon be transmitting live to all outposts. After the announcement, Blaster reminisces about his broadcasting days before preparing. He has Perceptor cross-reference the personnel rosters from his old orbital array with Autobots presently aboard the Command Hub. This yields four suspects: [[Mirage (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Mirage]], [[Beachcomber (G1)|Beachcomber]], [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]], and [[Bluestreak (G1)|Bluestreak]]. All four were within striking distance on the orbital array and were still aboard the Command Hub. Blaster admits that, before the incident, he would have trusted any of them with his life.

As the broadcast begins, Perceptor is interrupted in his monitoring by the assassin, who makes his way down the corridor to Blaster. Tossing a grenade into the broadcast station, he watches the blast doors seal off the breach, his grisly task seemingly accomplished. However, Blaster reveals that he was not actually in the broadcast station, and with disbelief, confronts the assassin—his old comrade Beachcomber. The normally pacifistic Autobot admits that he can't control his own actions, having been implanted with a [[cerebro-shell]] by [[Soundwave (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Soundwave]] and [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]], and tasked with silencing Blaster.

Finally managing to override the control mechanism, Beachcomber collapses. Back in the repair bay, Perceptor expresses doubt he will ever recover, the act of defeating the cerebro-shell managed to burn out a significant portion of his [[neo-cortex]]. Blaster expresses anger at the whole affair and vows to find Soundwave so that he can ensure the last thing his Decepticon rival hears will be the sound of his voice.
==Notes==
===Continuity notes===
*Blaster was shown on the Command Hub during ''[[The Transformers: Stormbringer|Stormbringer]]'', which would have set this story as happening before then—however, Simon Furman has said that Blaster-looking figure [[Bluster|was someone else all along]]...
*While ''Stormbringer'' initially presented Cybertron as being rendered uninhabitable following [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing's]] rampage, ''Spotlight: Blaster'' shows it remained inhabitable long enough for Autobot & Decepticon forces to continue battling on it for a short time afterward. Whether this was a genuine attempt to grab territory (when you consider that, post-Thunderwing, it would be obvious Cybertron was dying) or simply an attempt by the Decepticons to kill Autobots is unknown.
*The Decepticons recovered from Thunderwing's rampage earlier than the Autobots.
* '''First appearances:''' Silverbolt, Fortress Maximus, Cosmos, Beachcomber; Getaway, Kup, Landfill, Smokescreen; Bombshell (later an error thanks to ''All Hail Megatron''; later still retconned to be a "different Bombshell".) Not withstanding a retroactive art error in ''Stormbringer'', Blaster had already appeared in ''Megatron: Origin'' #2.

===Transformers references===
*Bluestreak's color scheme, featuring a blue helmet with a yellow crest, is based on the character's original [[package art|box art]] rather than his Generation 1 toy or [[character model]], which feature a silver or gray helmet with a red crest.

===Errors===
*According to the title page, this issue was written by "[[Simon Furman|Simaon Furman]]". Who he?
*On page 11, in the last speech bubble, "nano-kliks" is misspelled as "nano-kilks".
*In the flashbacks to the past where the Autobots are huddled, waiting for Blaster's broadcast, Broadside is colored tan instead of his usual gray.
*Maybe not an error, but Fortress Maximus's shoulder's design differs from the one seen in "[[Spotlight: Arcee]]".
'''It's a battle royal when Optimus Prime and the Autobots take on Sixshot.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Skywatch]] wishes to recall their "Seekers", [[Ravage (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Ravage]] and [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]], but cannot due to a competing signal from [[Soundwave (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Soundwave]], still in cassette player mode and in the bedroom of [[Jimmy (G1)|the boy who purchased him]].

Meanwhile, the battle between [[Sixshot]] and the [[Autobot]]s heats up. [[Bumblebee (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Bumblebee]] is injured and [[Ratchet (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Ratchet]] sees to him while [[Nightbeat (G1)|Nightbeat]] tries to ready the ''[[Ark-32]]'' for an [[Orbital jump|orbital bounce]]. [[Verity Carlo]] and [[Jimmy Pink]] notice that the battle is far from secret as [[K-IDW|a news helicopter]] investigates. The military is also alerted and send in a bomber force to obliterate all combatants.

[[Wheeljack (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Wheeljack]] and [[Hot Rod (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Hot Rod]] arrive with minutes to spare at the [[Wreck -n- Rule|impound lot]]. They break in but realize that the lot is huge and may have a hard time locating [[Ironhide (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Ironhide]]. The [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] have lost track of them but continue to search. They pick up on a police signal alerting them of the impound lot break-in. Meanwhile, at the [[Machination]] headquarters in [[Tampa]], [[Hunter O'Nion]] and [[Sunstreaker (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Sunstreaker]] initiate the painful process to plug Hunter into Sunstreaker's mind.

Verity and Jimmy try to tell a cop that there are good and [[Decepticon|evil robots]] but he doesn't want to hear it. They steal his megaphone and later a speedboat to warn the Autobots about the air strike. As Sixshot rips off [[Jazz (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Jazz]]'s arm and engages [[Optimus Prime (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Optimus Prime]] directly, Ratchet tells Prime of the [[human]]s' warning and he has the other Autobots bounced to the ''Ark-32'' while he remains behind to be sure of Sixshot's defeat. Unfortunately, the orbital jump seems to have killed Verity and Jimmy.

The [[Reaper]]s arrive and immediately attack the [[Decepticon Command Bunker]] in [[Oregon]]. Megatron recalls Sixshot; Optimus Prime orders Nightbeat to bounce him out, just in the nick of time before the bombs drop. The Decepticons are called to arms, but [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]] (under the protest of [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]]) checks on the now-revived [[Starscream (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Starscream]], who now seems confident enough to take on anyone.

==Notes==
===Continuity notes===
*Sixshot is REALLY BIG compared to the Autobots, most of whom barely come up to his waist. Optimus Prime and Hardhead are the only two who aren't totally dwarfed by him. This is fairly consistent with his portrayals in "[[The Rebirth, Part 1]]" and ''[[Transformers: The Headmasters (cartoon)|The Headmasters]]'' (or as consistent as [[scale]] can be in ''Transformers'').
*Sixshot boasts that he is powered by a "self-regenerating [[dark matter fission cell]]" and that his armature was forged from "[[ununtrium|metals drawn from the compacted subatomic matter of a collapsed star]]" to explain his power levels.
*The humans [[Wolverine (superhero)|Wolverine]] and [[Spider-Man]] had each previously survived orbital jumps in "[[Man and Machine, Part Four]]", so it is understandable that the Autobots would think it would be safe for Jimmy and Verity. However, Wolverine and Spider-Man have super powers (notably, both have the ability to heal damaged tissue, beyond the norms of baseline humanity), which might have been a factor in their survival.

===Transformers references===
*A few [[Easter egg]]s are featured in this issue. Skywatch refers to Ravage and Laserbeak as their "[[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]]". Soundwave's owner has a poster of [[Bumblebee (Movie)|movie Bumblebee]] in his room. The [[K-IDW]] news helicopter is seen flying overhead. Also, the impound lot named "Wreck-n-Rule", a reference to a slogan used by the [[Wrecker]]s.

===Real-life references===
*Soundwave's [[Jimmy (G1)|owner]] is totally lost in the [[1980]]s. Not only does he have the early-80s micro-cassette player Soundwave, he's got a poster for Journey's [[1981]] album, ''{{w|Escape (Journey album)|Escape}}'' on his wall.

===Errors===
*Sixshot's height throughout the ''Devastation'' series itself is not consistent.
*Ratchet's head and chevron color change throughout the issue. This has been a recurring error in several issues. This is corrected in the trade.

===Other trivia===
*The long-absent Decepticomments section returns, introduced by [[Chris Ryall|ChrisCharger]]. New editor [[Andrew Steven Harris]] answers mail and announces a contest to give him a Transformers name.
*On last page before the rear cover, ''[[Transformers: Mosaic]]'' issue "Ghost in the Machine" is featured.
'''Ramjet schemes to overthrow Megatron. Who knew the guy had it in him?'''

==Synopsis==
[[Skywarp (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Skywarp]] diverts from his mission to meet with [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] in mid-flight. While speeding across the skies, Ramjet and Skywarp discuss the failings of [[Megatron (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Starscream]]. Ramjet boasts that he has the smarts to overthrow Megatron, and tries to enlist Skywarp. Skywarp gives him 24 hours to come up with a good plan, reminding him of the old Cybertronian saying, "Always bet on the leader." Ramjet checks in with his [[Mini-Constructicon]]s, who inform him that the [[Universal Cybertronic Tracker]] will be ready in 18 hours. Ramjet next contacts his [[Pentagon]]-employed [[facsimile construct|facsimile]] [[Harrison (G1)|Harrison]] (who, due to inferior construction, appears dimwitted) and tells him to be prepared to deliver missile codes. Ramjet will use the missiles to devastate the [[United States of America|United States]].

As Megatron and his Decepticons begin their war in [[Brasnya]], Ramjet flies to the [[European Union Alternative Energy Research Center]] and drops fliers for an unspecified contest. An emblem of a Euro symbol on each flier is actually a spy device which jumps off the paper and attaches itself to the computers of the Center's employees. Ramjet believes that someone at the Center will eventually develop a useful [[energon]] substitute. Meanwhile in Brasnya, Megatron delivers the beating of [[Optimus Prime (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Optimus Prime's]] life.

Ramjet later returns to his Mini-Constructicons, and they have his device ready. When two of them ask for a taste of his power once he overthrows Megatron, Ramjet destroys them for their insolence. Harrison meets with Ramjet and delivers the codes, but his face is melting off due to his inferior creation. Ramjet boasts of his plans to his liquefying lackey, which include tracking all Cybertronians, acquiring his energon substitute, blowing up the United States, enslaving the [[Decepticon]]s and [[human]]s of [[Earth]], and using a [[superstring spacebridge]] to dominate the galaxy.

Unfortunately for Ramjet, Megatron arrives and beats him mercilessly, ripping out his [[spark]] before tearing him limb from limb. He scatters Ramjet's parts at Ramjet's base, Harrison's office at the Pentagon, and the Energy Research Center, indicating that he knew about Ramjet's plans in detail. Megatron keeps Ramjet's head as a trophy and an object lesson for his other troops. Behind him, Skywarp echoes his earlier statement: "Always bet on the leader."
==Notes==
===Continuity notes===
*This issue takes place after the ''[[New Avengers/Transformers]]'' miniseries, and is written by the same author. The "business" that Skywarp mentions on page 2 is the battle in [[Latveria]] in which Ramjet deserted his post, letting the Autobots and [[Avengers]] win.
*The timeframe of the issue corresponds with the events in the ''[[The Transformers: Escalation|Escalation]]'' series.
*Apparently, IDW Transformers can fart (page 7). In general terms, this is [[Humanization|not a new development]].
*As Harrison collapses to the ground, it can also be seen that his car is wrecked and smoking. This is not explained, though it seems likely that the barely-functional facsimile is a terrible driver, given that it can only speak in rudimentary grunts. (It's also nicely symbolic of how everything around Ramjet was about to turn to crap.)
*This issue has the first mention of a space bridge in the [[2005 IDW continuity|IDW continuity]].
*Given how the Decepticons are so keen on keeping themselves hidden from the planet's populace they infiltrate, it is quite unexpected that Megatron throws parts of Ramjet around the globe. Whilst it would take both a good few years and the intervention of [[John Barber|John "Master of Continuity" Barber]], giving humans access to Cybertronian technology would go on to have [[Earthfall Chapter 5: I Dream of Wires|some drastic repercussions]].

===Trivia===
*Following the story are two pages of sketches by [[Robby Musso]].
*This was the first ''Spotlight'' issue that wasn't part of a larger storyline. While every previous ''Spotlight'' (and a bunch of the following) answered questions raised in previous issues, brought up mysteries that created new questions, or introduced future plot developments, this one was relatively self-contained. The only references to the rest of the storyline exist merely for chronological placement. However, [[Simon Furman]] mentioned on his blog that Ramjet may show up again<ref>http://simonfurman.wordpress.com/2007/11/05/script-wrap-14/#comment-1692</ref> [[Earthfall Chapter 5: I Dream of Wires|and in a way, he did.]] After ''Ramjet'', we would see more ''Spotlights'' that told done-in-one contained stories like ''[[Spotlight: Cliffjumper]]''.

===Errors===
*The size of the text in this issue is considerably smaller than the norm.
*On page 17, in the first speech bubble, the sentence is unfinished.
'''A working-class miner accidentally kills some other guy in anger.'''

==Synopsis==
Four million years ago, Senator Decimus and his assistant arrive at the run-down colony of [[Mining Outpost C-12]] to deliver a formal message to the employees who call the outpost home: as part of the Cybertronian [[Senate]]'s efforts to cut costs, the [[energon]] mine will be automated, leaving its workers jobless. This doesn't bother Decimus one iota as he prepares the assembly to deliver the bad news: his disdain for the working-class personnel who operate the mine is quite clear, and he's more than eager to see them replaced.

During the assembly, Decimus' announcement naturally goes down poorly with his audience, despite his efforts to assuage their fears by pointing out that the laborers will not be left without jobs. One particularly angry 'bot, aware that the Senate's rampant automation will soon leave the working class destitute, speaks out, and is immediately executed by one of Decimus's [[Autobot]] security officers.

The crowd is briefly silenced by this display of force, and Decimus tries to restore order until one worker, an upstart named [[Megatron (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Megatron]], makes his opinion very clear by flinging his axe into Decimus's shoulder. Before the security officer can react, Megatron tackles and disarms him; the two struggle until Megatron gains the upper hand — and accidentally kills his opponent.

As Megatron struggles to come to terms with what he's just done, the rest of the miners, encouraged by his example, quickly charge the Senator's position... only to be swiftly overpowered, incapacitated, and arrested by Autobot riot control.

Megatron and his fellow miners come to aboard the transport shuttle ''[[Longshot (G1)|Longshot]]'' en route to a [[Penal Facility H-3|detention center]]; as soon as he awakens Megatron is approached by [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] and [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]]. Despite their enthusiasm, Megatron is still perturbed by his actions and wants no part in their plans. But as the rowdy duo set about distracting the guards, Megatron finds himself drawn to the vanguard of the rebellion as the ex-miners easily overwhelm their captors and seize the ship.

Aboard Decimus's shuttle, the Senator and his entourage are none the wiser about this revolt until the ''Longshot'' breaks formation, blasting the Senator's vessel and stranding the ship and its occupants in deep space; this is a deliberate ploy on Megatron's part to distract the Autobots with a rescue mission, leavin the rebels free to plot a new course back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] unhindered. Arriving over the city of [[Kaon (polity)|Kaon]], the "worst place on Cybertron," the miners opt to lay low for the time being, confident in the knowledge that they've given the [[Senate]] more important things to worry about.

In Kaon's [[Security Services Headquarters]], [[Sentinel Prime (G1)|Sentinel Prime]] finishes up a round of target practice before he's interrupted by his second-in-command [[Prowl (G1)/IDW Generation 1 continuity|Prowl]], who comes bearing news of the incident in space. The [[Prime (rank)|Prime]], uninterested in the dealings of the Senate and its constituents, appoints Prowl to handle the issue — but neither of them are aware that the perpetrators have successfully landed on Cybertron and escaped into Kaon's criminal underbelly...
==Notes==
===Continuity notes===
*When Frenzy attempts to enlist Megatron's aid in escaping their imprisonment on the ''Longshot'', Megatron makes it clear that the violence he dealt during the mine revolt was unintentional (and indeed, he was remorseful). Yet on the next page, after he is freed, Megatron seems to be quite willing to beat the living daylights out of the security guard on the ship.
*[[James Roberts]] would write several pre-war stories in 2011 and 2012, which flesh out and subtly retcon the events of this miniseries:
** In "[[Chaos Theory Part 1]]", we meet Megatron as an idealistic writer and political thinker who hopes for nonviolent change. When he finds himself brutalised by an untouchable and corrupt member of a higher caste, he is filled with a growing rage, and eventually comes to realize that violence might be the only way to advance his cause. His killing of an Autobot security officer here is not, then, the inciting moment that leads to the Great War, but merely another step in Megatron's personal journey from idealist to tyrant — and might provide a clue as to why Megatron finds it quite easy to take his ''next'' life when he and his crew hijack the ''Longshot.''
**"[[Shadowplay, Part 1: Post Hoc|Issue #9]]" of ''More than Meets the Eye'' has the Decepticons already existing before this issue, inspired by Megatron's samizdat writings. The Senate have exiled Megatron to a nucleon mine on [[Messatine]], afraid of him becoming a leader or, if they kill him, a martyr. Following a disaster on Messatine, as seen in [[Births, Deaths, and Interventions|issue #34]], Megatron is transferred to C-12.
**Cybertron is under dictatorship: by the time of ''Origin'', a [[Clampdown (event)|Clampdown]] has been in place for a while with curfews, spies on every street, and any group or city-state the Senate doesn't like getting the boot. This has only increased discontent in "Post Hoc".
**Sentinel Prime is actually the recent replacement of [[Nominus Prime]]. You may have also thought Sentinel was alright because he dislikes the Senate, but "[[Chaos Theory Part 2]]" and "Post Hoc" show him to be a nasty, dictatorial thug who was involved in assassinating his predecessor, and [[White Heat|later issues still]] will reveal that Sentinel himself has an ulterior agenda all his own. This puts a new spin on his complaint that the Senate keep saying how he should do his job instead of giving him "what I need".
**Prowl [[Shadowplay, Part 2: Patternism|knows]] that Sentinel Prime is dirty [[Shadowplay (Conclusion): An Intimate Beheading|but didn't dare cross him earlier]]. Yet he still joined the Senate's security forces, with the only known comment that he "[[Elegant Chaos Part 1: All Our Parlous Yesterdays|did what he had to do]]". Also, not surprisingly, even Sentinel [[Last Light (issue)|couldn't stand the guy]], later blaming for him the entire rise of the Decepticon cause with his constant lectures on collateral damage.
* '''First appearances:''' Sentinel Prime, Decimus, Rumble, and Frenzy.

===Transformers references===
*Kaon was previously established in [[Dreamwave Productions]]' ''[[Transformers: The War Within|The War Within]]'', where it was also established as the city where Megatron first rose to power.
*[[Kremzeek (G1)|Kremzeek]] appears on a billboard in Kaon.

===Real-life references===
* Whether by coincidence or design, it probably goes without saying that the plight of the miners has some basis in reality, where the dual threats of automation and outsourcing has led to many such scenes.
===Errors===
* Whether by coincidence or design, it probably goes without saying that the plight of the miners has some basis in reality, where the dual threats of automation and outsourcing has led to many such scenes.

===Errors===
