'''Skydive''', it has been said, would rather read about an aerial battle than take part in one. He's the Aerialbots' resident bookworm and is fascinated by the history and science behind aerial warfare. Within the limits of his design, he's capable of duplicating the flight patterns of anything he sees. His knowledge of aerial warfare and tactics is unmatched. Skydive is probably the most skilled Autobot flier in existence. All of that, and you're more likely to find him secluded in a cozy library than actually in the sky. He's simply too modest and bookish to realize how smart and skilled he really is. Thankfully the rest of the Autobots definitely do.

Skydive combines with his fellow [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]] to form [[Superion (G1)|Superion]] or with other Transformers to form [[Ultra Prime]].

At one point during the eternal war with the Autobots on Earth, [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] grew fed up with how his opponents ruled the roads and created a group of Decepticon cars known as the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]]. In order to give his new warriors life, he brought them to Cybertron and tracked down the ancient supercomputer, [[Vector Sigma]], to input cybernetic personalities into the Stunticons. Thanks to a series of traps and drones in their way, the Autobots failed to prevent Megatron from succeeding and returning to Earth. Seeking to even the playing field, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] conceived of the idea of retrofitting several broken-down Cybertronian ships into Earthly jets, and bringing them to life as a team of Autobot flyers. With the help of his technical savvy soldiers, [[Hoist (G1)|Hoist]], Wheeljack, [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], and Prime's own creator, [[Alpha Trion]], Optimus's plan was enacted and the Aerialbots were born. {{storylink|The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2}}

Because Optimus Prime specified to Vector Sigma that the Aerialbots be given personalities that required them to learn and grow, and make their own decisions, however, Skydive and his friends were not instantly bound to the Autobot cause. Their sense of pride in their flying ability caused many of them to look down on the other Autobots. Despite their personalities being like night and day, Skydive and [[Slingshot (G1)|Slingshot]] were frequent flying partners and often on the same side of any argument. Skydive's eye for aerial maneuvering left him just as impressed as the more emotional Slingshot when it came to the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]]' flight skills, and this innocent zest for knowledge led him and his partners into a Decepticon trap. Turning the [[Kronosphere]] on the hapless Autobots, Megatron sent the Aerialbots back in time nine million years. Their journey led them to the earliest days of the war, and they personally saw Megatron maliciously gun down unarmed Cybertronians in his quest for power. Skydive had to explain the exact nature of the [[Statue of Liberty]] to a confused [[Fireflight (G1)|Fireflight]] while the Autobots were spraying it with [[Corrostop]]. The Stunticons then arrived to kidnap [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and the Aerialbots pursued their getaway jet [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] all the way back to [[Decepticon Headquarters (G1 Earth)|Decepticon Headquarters]], where they were forced to retreat after the [[Lightning Bug]] was turned on them. During a Decepticon ambush in the [[Middle East]], Slingshot was buried in a cave and Skydive served as...support to help dig him out. Skydive and Slingshot then went undercover to investigate a string of airplane thefts. They ended up carved up into pieces and put back together by a [[Jumal|street kid who also just happened to be a deposed royal prince]] who was also a mechanical genius. Convenient! Skydive later joined the Aerialbots in forming Superion to fight [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] and the [[Giant Purple Griffin]]. {{storylink|Aerial Assault}}

After the death of Megatron and the retaking of Cybertron, Skydive and the Aerialbots became part of the Autobot Fleet. When [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]], [[Kup (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Kup]] and Spike were kidnapped to [[Quintessa (planet)|Quintessa]], the rescue party alerted the Aerialbots to swoop by for covering fire and pick-up. When the Quintessons destroyed their own planet to get at the Autobots, the resulting blast wave destroyed the Aerialbots' ship, sending Skydive and the rest hurtling through space. Although they clearly survived, Skydive, Fireflight and Slingshot were not seen after the explosion. Skydive was present when Optimus Prime briefly returned from the dead, and gathered the Autobot Fleet for an attack on the Quintessons. Before long, history repeated itself (literally) as Skydive and the Aerialbots had another time travel adventure involving Alpha Trion, only this time it involved the ancient Autobot himself traveling into the present from the past, back from when he was merely A-3. The Quintessons were experimenting with [[Time Window]] technology when Perceptor and a group of Autobots came across their work. Summoned for reinforcements, [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Rodimus Prime]] arrived with Superion and the other Autobots to drive the Quintessons off the asteroid. As the time window was left open, a robot named A-3 materialized on the asteroid. It wasn't until after the Quintessons convinced the Autobots that the window needed to be closed for the sake of the universe, and A-3 returned to his own time, that Skydive and the Aerialbots realized they had once again been in the presence of "the father of the Autobots". {{storylink|Forever Is a Long Time Coming (episode)|Forever Is a Long Time Coming}}

Once, Air Raid led the Decepticon duo of [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] into an asteroid field where Skydive and his fellow Aerialbots were waiting to spring an ambush. The Aerialbots messed the Decepticons up pretty badly, especially after they transformed into Superion. Eventually, Skydive and the others chased the Decepticons through a strange warp in space. This proceeded to have no consequences for [[Sandstorm (G1)|anyone]] [[Paradron|whatsoever]]. {{storylink|Fight or Flee (episode)|Fight or Flee}}

Skydive and the Aerialbots tried to stop the Decepticons' abduction of [[Octane]], and later showed up to stage an ambush for [[Galvatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Galvatron]]. {{storylink|Starscream's Ghost}}

Skydive and the Aerialbots were spending a relaxing day watching home movies on [[Teletraan II]] when things suddenly got serious, as the Autobots' computer off-handedly informed them [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] was never destroyed in his last battle with [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]]. Sure enough, Silverbolt and Skydive were later present at the former site of Fort Knox, investigating Trypticon's handiwork on behalf of the [[Abdul Fakkadi (G1)|King of Kings]] of [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]]. When they tracked Trypticon to his new staging grounds, Skydive and the Aerialbots launched from [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]], but the Decepticon presence in Carbombya was more than they had anticipated. The Aerialbots made a hasty retreat when confronted with overwhelming firepower, but soon returned with reinforcements and drove the Decepticons from Carbombya. {{storylink|Thief in the Night}}

During a battle in space, Skydive and the Aerialbots may or may not have been present. Superion, at least, was surely there on the planet [[Eurythma]]... sometimes. {{storylink|Carnage in C-Minor}} Skydive was ''definitely'' stationed at Autobot City, though, when [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] stole Metroplex's eyes. The massive Autobot was nearly driven mad with pain when the Decepticons set off a bomb in his brain, and Skydive, Silverbolt and [[Powerglide (G1)|Powerglide]] had to keep him contained so that his thrashing didn't destroy anything irreplaceable. After [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]] took some hostile fire over the [[Junkion (planet)|planet of Junk]], Rodimus Prime dispatched Skydive and the Aerialbots to investigate. They were caught in a crossfire between the brain-addled Junkions and the Quintessons, who were responsible for messing with the Junkions' air waves, and their minds. Even after becoming Superion, the Aerialbots took heavy fire and had to be brought back to [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]] on Cybertron for repairs. {{storylink|The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)|The Big Broadcast of 2006}} Later, Skydive and the Aerialbots were working with Rodimus Prime and Ultra Magnus in Europe to fend off the latest wave of Decepticon attacks. Skydive made a brief appearance when the Autobots brought their new generator on-line after the creation of the [[Technobot (G1)|Technobots]]. {{storylink|Grimlock's New Brain}} During the Decepticon invasion of Japan, the Aerialbots fought against [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]] when he tried to derail a bullet train full of passengers. {{storylink|The Burden Hardest to Bear}} Sometime thereafter, Skydive and the Aerialbots were recruited by Rodimus Prime to rescue the body of Optimus Prime from [[Gregory Swofford|Swofford]] and [[Mark Morgan|Morgan]]. Unfortunately, this only meant they were among the first Autobots exposed to the [[Hate Plague]]. Despite the madness induced by the red dust, the Aerialbots were apparently still willing to form Superion. When the Decepticons invaded Cybertron searching for the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]], the Aerialbots tried to stop them. Unfortunately, they didn't reckon with [[Sixshot (G1)|Sixshot]]. Skydive and the Aerialbots were dispatched from the [[Metroplex (G1)|Scramble City]] project by [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]] to aid Optimus Prime in battle with the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]] and [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]]. Their aerial firepower frankly overwhelmed the marauding Decepticons, and sent them home with their transistors between their struts. On his second attempt, Megatron sent the Stunticons, who were considerably more successful in engaging the Autobots. Damaged in jet modes, Skydive the Aerialbots chose instead to merge and form Superion. As Superion, they possessed scramble combining abilities, but so did the Stunticons when they formed Menasor. The Aerialbots were in the midst of reconfiguring their limb formation when Fireflight, being...well, a daydreaming idiot, mixed up whether he was supposed to be the right leg or the left. His indecision gave Menasor time to shoot him down, and [[Wildrider (G1)|Wildrider]] assumed the place of Superion's right leg instead, corrupting his programming. Skydive and the Aerialbots were stationed at Autobot City on Earth in 2011. When Galvatron attacked Cybertron via the old [[space bridge]] network, the Aerialbots were summoned to Cybertron as reinforcements. They soon arrived with the [[Trainbot]]s and quickly joined the battle. Skydive and his team formed Superion and battled [[Abominus (G1)|Abominus]] and Devastator. {{storylink|Four Warriors Come out of the Sky}} Later, the combined Aerialbots fought alongside [[Raiden]] and Defensor against the Decepticon combiners, and were nearly crushed when Bruticus collapsed a building on their position. They were bailed out by the arrival of the [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Battleship Maximus]]. When Hot Rod began his search for the [[Matrix of Leadership]] on Earth, Skydive and the Aerialbots returned to the humans' planet to assist him. They confronted the Stunticons in the desert, pitting Superion against Menasor yet again. Skydive and his flying comrades joined the [[Triple Changer]]s in distracting the Decepticons long enough for [[Blaster (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Twincast]] to sneak inside Trypticon and gather data on the [[Madmachine]]. {{storylink|The Great Cassette Operation}} Sometime later, Skydive and the Aerialbots were on a research vessel that passed near a [[Metamorphose|strange meteorite]]. The meteorite had been altered by Galvatron to produce magnetic warping waves whenever it detected metal, and so it send the Aerialbots and their ship twisting through space. Although the Decepticons tried to intervene, the Autobots eventually recovered Skydive and his injured colleagues. {{storylink|Approach of the Demon Meteorite}}

Following a lengthy repair cycle, Skydive and the Aerialbots were ready for action when Galvatron and the Decepticons laid siege to Cybertron one last time. Transporting to Cybertron from Earth, they raced into battle (on foot, for some reason). Skydive and the team got the drop on the Stunticons when they merged into Superion, smashing and scattering the 'Cons before they could form Menasor. {{storylink|Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1}} As the fighting continued, the Aerialbots battled Abominus as Superion and later separated to trade blaster fire with the Stunticons. When [[buridanka|a giant carnivorous plant]] attacked San Francisco, Ultra Magnus dispatched Skydive and the Aerialbots to combat it. Although they made frequent bombing runs on the organism, the Aerialbots were unable to stop it. Skydive and his team formed Superion for a first strike, but the Decepticon combiners countered with their deployment modes, launching the Stunticon and [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticon]] troops with enough force to tear Superion apart. The Protectobots stood guard over [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]] as he performed battlefield triage on the Aerialbots in his repair bay mode, bringing them back on-line. Though Optimus was hesitant at first, the Aerialbots being new and inexperienced, he allowed them this chance to prove themselves. The two teams met, and quickly combined into their gestalt forms to do battle. Working on a plan to reverse engineer the gestalt technology the Decepticons used to create Devastator, Optimus Prime and the Autobots staged a daring raid on the Decepticon base of operations, giving [[Bumblebee (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Bumblebee]] enough time to digitally record the Constructicons' electrical transformation pattern for study. {{storylink|Command Performances!}} Working off that blueprint, Wheeljack successfully created Skydive and the Aerialbots. During the new warriors' testing phase, however, the Autobots were alerted to a Decepticon operation at Hoover Dam. Only the Aerialbots were fast enough to reach the location in time, and so Prime was forced to send them into battle before their programming was completed.

Arriving to find a giant energy siphoning device being channeled through the [[space bridge]], [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]] deferred to Skydive's strategic knowledge on how to deal with the target. Skydive's preliminary attack run failed to even damage the device, however, and before he could make a second pass the Decepticon jet [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] took the offensive, temporarily grounding Skydive with the disruptive power of his engines.

The Aerialbots eventually turned the tide on the Decepticons and drove them off, giving them time to focus on the energy siphon which was the core of the problem. At Silverbolt's command, they merged into Superion and began dismantling the drill device. A problem arose, however, when [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]]'s [[cerebro-shell]] controlled pawn [[Ricky Vasquez]] pointed [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]] (in his gun mode) at the giant Autobot. Because the majority of the Aerialbots were not programmed specifically to protect human life, Superion only saw a potential threat that needed to be eliminated. As the human fought against the Decepticons' control, Silverbolt too fought inside Superion's gestalt mind to protect the human. In the end, Silverbolt was forced to disengage Superion to keep him from destroying the human. Luckily, Ricky was more successful and managed to break the cerebro-shell's hold long enough to point Megatron at the drill and destroy it, ending the threat. {{storylink|Aerialbots over America!}}

After the near disaster at Hoover Dam, Optimus Prime had the Aerialbots shut down and their programming completely erased. Returned to a blank slate, he then input fully-programmed personalities for them with the Matrix before their next mission. It, uh... didn't help. In battle with [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]] as Superion, the Aerialbots were attacked by [[Circuit Breaker (G1)|Circuit Breaker]], deactivated, and captured by [[Rapid Anti-robot Assault Team|RAAT]]. {{storylink|Heavy Traffic!}} As these humans' prisoners, the Aerialbots' bodies were disassembled for study, while their faces were mounted on Circuit Breaker's wall as trophies. Optimus Prime sent Skydive and the Aerialbots to back up Bumblebee as he investigated possible Decepticon activity at the unveiling of [[Power Station Alpha]]. After [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] had taken command over the Autobots and restored the Ark, the Autobot craft launched into orbit in pursuit of [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]], who had been partaking in overtly mutinous behavior. Though the Autobots managed to capture Blaster's [[Blast Off (G1)|spaceship]], within it they only found a [[Spacehikers|quartet of small human children and a stuffed bear]]. In order to draw out his real target, Grimlock put the humans on trial, a procession which Skydive attended. He was visibly displeased when Grimlock sentenced the kids to death for aiding Blaster, though thankfully this was all a ruse on Grimlock's end to draw Blaster into the open. {{storylink|Spacehikers!}}

Skydive disembarked with the rest of the Earth-bound Autobots from the Ark onto Earth's [[Moon (moon)|moon]], where they witnessed a battle for leadership between [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] and Blaster. This was a moment of opportunity for [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]'s Decepticons, who attacked Slingshot and the others on the moon's surface. Though the Decepticons struck a devastating first blow, Blaster and Grimlock managed to temporarily put aside their differences in order to lead their troops together. Sometime later, it was Skydive, [[Air Raid (G1)|Air Raid]], and [[Fireflight (G1)|Fireflight]] who were the first to respond to a distress call from Buster Witwicky, the Autobots' old human ally who had been the Decepticons' prisoner for nearly a year. They found the boy nearly frozen to death on an iceberg, and brought him to the care of his older brother, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]], and the latter's binary bonded partner, [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]. But the Autobots had been led into a trap laid out by Starscream, who had planted Buster outside the Decepticons' secret base. Though a brief fire-exchange ensued, the Autobots and Decepticon forces joined when they realized that Starscream, planning to acquire the nigh-infinite power of the [[Underbase]], posed a greater threat. Together, they were able to prevent him from absorbing most of the Underbase's power. Unfortunately, the fraction Starscream did manage to take into himself still bestowed him with unimaginable power. A few nights later, Skydive was coming to relieve [[Wheeljack (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Wheeljack]] from a late-night guard shift when he found signs of a skirmish. Wheeljack was gone, and some animal tracks he took for signs of [[Fantasy Predacon|Predacon]] activity were all over the place! Tracing them to the main base, Skydive found it had been forced open, and a shadowy figure was creeping through the halls. He leapt into action!...right on top of poor Wheeljack. It turned out Ol' Wheels had tripped over his lamp and heating unit at the guard post, run into a [[polar bear]], and scampered away out of sheer fright, forcing the door when he couldn't find his key.

Skydive was present with the entire Earthforce team outside Autobot [[Earthbase]] when Wheeljack unveiled his brand-new unbreachable defensive system. Prowl elected to run the gauntlet and reach the shutdown console inside, and the Aerialbots provided air support for him. After half their number were killed and their transport destroyed, Skydive volunteered for a strategic play to get inside the enemy-controlled Ark. Shutting off his systems on a time-delay to appear as lifeless machinery to the sensors Megatron had set up in the ship, he was smuggled aboard the Ark by some disguised [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. The Aerialbots were sent over by Optimus to help the Protectobots defend the [[Pullen Power Plant]] from the Decepticons. As they flew towards the plant, Skydive and Fireflight crossed paths with Blast Off, and recognized that he was wearing a Decepticon badge. The Aerialbots then combined into Superion to even the odds against Menasor and Bruticus. When human scientists discovered a mysterious city beneath the ice of the North Pole, they placed a call to Autobot City in order to get the Transformers' perspective on the discovery. Skydive, Slingshot and Hot Rod were dispatched with the research team to investigate. On their way, the humans' research plane was shot down by a powerful laser, and the Aerialbots were unable to locate the craft in the terrible blizzard. They instead made their way to the on-site research team, only to happily discover that Hot Rod and their human friends had been saved by the [[city-dweller]]s themselves. While the [[Watcher]], leader of the city-dwellers, showed the humans and Autobots around their hidden home, monitor screens alerted the group that the Combaticons had arrived, and were investigating the crash site. The Aerialbots concluded that [[Blast Off (G1)|Blast Off]]'s orbital firepower was responsible for the crash, and flew out to engage the Decepticons in battle. Eventually, however, Autobot and Decepticon alike learned that the city-dweller were the real threat, and joined forces to vanquish the strange but malevolent beings. Skydive rather reluctantly complied with the truce and allowed [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]] and the Combaticons to leave without incident once the fighting was over. {{storylink|Battle Beneath the Ice}}

Millions of years later, Skydive and the Aerialbots were active on [[Earth]] with Optimus Prime and the crew of the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]]. They did not arrive on that ship, however, and the actual manner of their arrival was never explained. The war on the human homeworld raged from the 1980s until 1998 when the Decepticons were finally defeated, and in the following year, the ''[[Ark II]]'' was constructed to take the Transformers home. However, the ship was sabotaged by the rogue engineer-turned arms dealer Adam Rook, known as [[Lazarus]], and General [[Robert Hallo]], who planned on reprogramming the Transformers into the service of the United States military. The Aerialbots were some of the few Transformers who were not recovered by Lazarus for his reprogramming venture, now aimed at hiring out the Transformers to the highest bidder. Instead, they were reactivated as Superion in 2002 by Optimus Prime, using the power of the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. {{storylink|Prime Directive issue 2|Prime Directive #2}}

Silverbolt and the Aerialbots in their Superion form, battled the Decepticons in the Northwest Territories of [[Canada]] {{storylink|Prime Directive issue 3|Prime Directive #3}} and again in [[San Francisco]]. After the war ended, Skydive and his fellow Aerialbots worked crowd control on the Decepticons after Ratbat was murdered. Shortly after leaving Iacon behind and traveling into the untamed wilderness Cybertron had become, the Aerialbots were the first to fall victim to [[Megatron (G1)/2005 IDW continuity|Megatron]]'s experiments with a [[combiner]] energy that influenced their minds and made them turn on each other. {{storylink|Before the Dawn}} Skydive eventually teamed up with the other Aerialbots and tried to do Silverbolt in, tracking him for three days. As part of Starscream's political maneuvers, Skydive and the new Aerialbot team were deployed to [[Caminus (planet)|Caminus]] to stop [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]]. As Superion joined Optimus Prime's Autobots on Earth, he disassembled into his individual Aerialbot components from time to time. At one point during the eternal war with the Autobots on Earth, [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]] grew fed up with how his opponents ruled the roads and created a group of Decepticon cars known as the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]]. In order to give his new warriors life, he brought them to Cybertron and tracked down the ancient supercomputer, [[Vector Sigma]], to input cybernetic personalities into the Stunticons. Thanks to a series of traps and drones in their way, the Autobots failed to prevent Megatron from succeeding and returning to Earth. Seeking to even the playing field, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] conceived of the idea of retrofitting several broken-down Cybertronian ships into Earthly jets, and bringing them to life as a team of Autobot flyers. Because Optimus Prime specified to Vector Sigma that the Aerialbots be given personalities that required them to learn and grow, and make their own decisions, however, Skydive and his friends were not instantly bound to the Autobot cause. Their sense of pride in their flying ability caused many of them to look down on the other Autobots. Despite their personalities being like night and day, Skydive and [[Slingshot (G1)|Slingshot]] were frequent flying partners and often on the same side of any argument. Skydive's eye for aerial maneuvering left him just as impressed as the more emotional Slingshot when it came to the [[Seeker (body-type)|Seekers]]' flight skills, and this innocent zest for knowledge led him and his partners into a Decepticon trap. Turning the [[Kronosphere]] on the hapless Autobots, Megatron sent the Aerialbots back in time nine million years. Their journey led them to the earliest days of the war, and they personally saw Megatron maliciously gun down unarmed Cybertronians in his quest for power. Skydive had to explain the exact nature of the [[Statue of Liberty]] to a confused [[Fireflight (G1)|Fireflight]] while the Autobots were spraying it with [[Corrostop]]. The Stunticons then arrived to kidnap [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] and the Aerialbots pursued their getaway jet [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] all the way back to [[Decepticon Headquarters (G1 Earth)|Decepticon Headquarters]], where they were forced to retreat after the [[Lightning Bug]] was turned on them. During a Decepticon ambush in the [[Middle East]], Slingshot was buried in a cave and Skydive served as...support to help dig him out. Skydive and Slingshot then went undercover to investigate a string of airplane thefts. They ended up carved up into pieces and put back together by a [[Jumal|street kid who also just happened to be a deposed royal prince]] who was also a mechanical genius. Convenient! After the death of Megatron and the retaking of Cybertron, Skydive and the Aerialbots became part of the Autobot Fleet. When [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Ultra Magnus]], [[Kup (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Kup]] and Spike were kidnapped to [[Quintessa (planet)|Quintessa]], the rescue party alerted the Aerialbots to swoop by for covering fire and pick-up. The Quintessons were experimenting with [[Time Window]] technology when Perceptor and a group of Autobots came across their work. Summoned for reinforcements, [[Hot Rod (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Rodimus Prime]] arrived with Superion and the other Autobots to drive the Quintessons off the asteroid. As the time window was left open, a robot named A-3 materialized on the asteroid. Once, Air Raid led the Decepticon duo of [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] into an asteroid field where Skydive and his fellow Aerialbots were waiting to spring an ambush. The Aerialbots messed the Decepticons up pretty badly, especially after they transformed into Superion. Eventually, Skydive and the others chased the Decepticons through a strange warp in space. Sure enough, Silverbolt and Skydive were later present at the former site of Fort Knox, investigating Trypticon's handiwork on behalf of the [[Abdul Fakkadi (G1)|King of Kings]] of [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]]. When they tracked Trypticon to his new staging grounds, Skydive and the Aerialbots launched from [[Broadside (G1)|Broadside]], but the Decepticon presence in Carbombya was more than they had anticipated. During a battle in space, Skydive and the Aerialbots may or may not have been present. Superion, at least, was surely there on the planet [[Eurythma]]... sometimes. {{storylink|Carnage in C-Minor}} Skydive was ''definitely'' stationed at Autobot City, though, when [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] and [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] stole Metroplex's eyes. The massive Autobot was nearly driven mad with pain when the Decepticons set off a bomb in his brain, and Skydive, Silverbolt and [[Powerglide (G1)|Powerglide]] had to keep him contained so that his thrashing didn't destroy anything irreplaceable. After [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]] took some hostile fire over the [[Junkion (planet)|planet of Junk]], Rodimus Prime dispatched Skydive and the Aerialbots to investigate. They were caught in a crossfire between the brain-addled Junkions and the Quintessons, who were responsible for messing with the Junkions' air waves, and their minds. Even after becoming Superion, the Aerialbots took heavy fire and had to be brought back to [[First Aid (G1)|First Aid]] on Cybertron for repairs. {{storylink|The Big Broadcast of 2006 (episode)|The Big Broadcast of 2006}} Later, Skydive and the Aerialbots were working with Rodimus Prime and Ultra Magnus in Europe to fend off the latest wave of Decepticon attacks. Working on a plan to reverse engineer the gestalt technology the Decepticons used to create Devastator, Optimus Prime and the Autobots staged a daring raid on the Decepticon base of operations, giving [[Bumblebee (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Bumblebee]] enough time to digitally record the Constructicons' electrical transformation pattern for study. {{storylink|Command Performances!}} Working off that blueprint, Wheeljack successfully created Skydive and the Aerialbots. During the new warriors' testing phase, however, the Autobots were alerted to a Decepticon operation at Hoover Dam. Only the Aerialbots were fast enough to reach the location in time, and so Prime was forced to send them into battle before their programming was completed.

Arriving to find a giant energy siphoning device being channeled through the [[space bridge]], [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]] deferred to Skydive's strategic knowledge on how to deal with the target. Skydive's preliminary attack run failed to even damage the device, however, and before he could make a second pass the Decepticon jet [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] took the offensive, temporarily grounding Skydive with the disruptive power of his engines.

The Aerialbots eventually turned the tide on the Decepticons and drove them off, giving them time to focus on the energy siphon which was the core of the problem. At Silverbolt's command, they merged into Superion and began dismantling the drill device. A problem arose, however, when [[Bombshell (G1)|Bombshell]]'s [[cerebro-shell]] controlled pawn [[Ricky Vasquez]] pointed [[Megatron (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Megatron]] (in his gun mode) at the giant Autobot. Because the majority of the Aerialbots were not programmed specifically to protect human life, Superion only saw a potential threat that needed to be eliminated. As the human fought against the Decepticons' control, Silverbolt too fought inside Superion's gestalt mind to protect the human. In the end, Silverbolt was forced to disengage Superion to keep him from destroying the human. After [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] had taken command over the Autobots and restored the Ark, the Autobot craft launched into orbit in pursuit of [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]], who had been partaking in overtly mutinous behavior. Though the Autobots managed to capture Blaster's [[Blast Off (G1)|spaceship]], within it they only found a [[Spacehikers|quartet of small human children and a stuffed bear]]. In order to draw out his real target, Grimlock put the humans on trial, a procession which Skydive attended. He was visibly displeased when Grimlock sentenced the kids to death for aiding Blaster, though thankfully this was all a ruse on Grimlock's end to draw Blaster into the open. {{storylink|Spacehikers!}}

Skydive disembarked with the rest of the Earth-bound Autobots from the Ark onto Earth's [[Moon (moon)|moon]], where they witnessed a battle for leadership between [[Grimlock (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Grimlock]] and Blaster. This was a moment of opportunity for [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]]'s Decepticons, who attacked Slingshot and the others on the moon's surface. Though the Decepticons struck a devastating first blow, Blaster and Grimlock managed to temporarily put aside their differences in order to lead their troops together. Sometime later, it was Skydive, [[Air Raid (G1)|Air Raid]], and [[Fireflight (G1)|Fireflight]] who were the first to respond to a distress call from Buster Witwicky, the Autobots' old human ally who had been the Decepticons' prisoner for nearly a year. They found the boy nearly frozen to death on an iceberg, and brought him to the care of his older brother, [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]], and the latter's binary bonded partner, [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]]. But the Autobots had been led into a trap laid out by Starscream, who had planted Buster outside the Decepticons' secret base. Though a brief fire-exchange ensued, the Autobots and Decepticon forces joined when they realized that Starscream, planning to acquire the nigh-infinite power of the [[Underbase]], posed a greater threat. Together, they were able to prevent him from absorbing most of the Underbase's power. Unfortunately, the fraction Starscream did manage to take into himself still bestowed him with unimaginable power. In an effort to protect the Earth from his rampage, the Aerialbots were Starscream's first victims, wiped out in a single blast of cosmic power in the skies over [[New York City]]. {{storylink|Dark Star}}

Fresh off the RE-assembly line, Skydive screwed up an Autobot mission by broadcasting the location of [[Prowl (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Prowl]] and his hijacked Decepticon ozone rocket over an uncoded frequency. Luckily, Prowl managed to remove the poison gas canisters before the Decepticons got there, and the two 'Con factions ended up fighting over nothing of value. {{storylink|Life in the Slow Lane}}

A few nights later, Skydive was coming to relieve [[Wheeljack (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Wheeljack]] from a late-night guard shift when he found signs of a skirmish. Wheeljack was gone, and some animal tracks he took for signs of [[Fantasy Predacon|Predacon]] activity were all over the place! Tracing them to the main base, Skydive found it had been forced open, and a shadowy figure was creeping through the halls. He leapt into action!...right on top of poor Wheeljack. It turned out Ol' Wheels had tripped over his lamp and heating unit at the guard post, run into a [[polar bear]], and scampered away out of sheer fright, forcing the door when he couldn't find his key.

Prowl elected to run the gauntlet and reach the shutdown console inside, and the Aerialbots provided air support for him. The Decepticon's new abilities and [[Cobra]] allies proved a considerable challenge, though. After half their number were killed and their transport destroyed, Skydive volunteered for a strategic play to get inside the enemy-controlled Ark. Shutting off his systems on a time-delay to appear as lifeless machinery to the sensors Megatron had set up in the ship, he was smuggled aboard the Ark by some disguised [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. When human scientists discovered a mysterious city beneath the ice of the North Pole, they placed a call to Autobot City in order to get the Transformers' perspective on the discovery. Skydive, Slingshot and Hot Rod were dispatched with the research team to investigate. On their way, the humans' research plane was shot down by a powerful laser, and the Aerialbots were unable to locate the craft in the terrible blizzard. They instead made their way to the on-site research team, only to happily discover that Hot Rod and their human friends had been saved by the [[city-dweller]]s themselves. While the [[Watcher]], leader of the city-dwellers, showed the humans and Autobots around their hidden home, monitor screens alerted the group that the Combaticons had arrived, and were investigating the crash site. The Aerialbots concluded that [[Blast Off (G1)|Blast Off]]'s orbital firepower was responsible for the crash, and flew out to engage the Decepticons in battle. Eventually, however, Autobot and Decepticon alike learned that the city-dweller were the real threat, and joined forces to vanquish the strange but malevolent beings. The war on the human homeworld raged from the 1980s until 1998 when the Decepticons were finally defeated, and in the following year, the ''[[Ark II]]'' was constructed to take the Transformers home. However, the ship was sabotaged by the rogue engineer-turned arms dealer Adam Rook, known as [[Lazarus]], and General [[Robert Hallo]], who planned on reprogramming the Transformers into the service of the United States military. The Aerialbots were some of the few Transformers who were not recovered by Lazarus for his reprogramming venture, now aimed at hiring out the Transformers to the highest bidder.
