Bugly functions only to control and dominate others. As a strategist, he relishes giving orders and commanding his fellow Decepticons to carry out his bidding. He is also one of the few known modern practitioners of Circuit-Su, which teaches martial artists of the Allspark that connects all energy in Transformer life-sparks, and how to tap into that energy. Bugly believes in the conservation of energy principle—by drawing greater amounts of power from his spark through discipline, he thinks that this is limiting the amount of energy available for all other Cybertronians. This is the ultimate form of domination for Bugly, and he works tirelessly to cultivate his mental abilities at the expense of others.

After commandeering a genetics research lab on Earth, Scorponok was able to recreate and perfect the science of Pretender shells using synthoplasmic chambers constructed by him and Vorath. Bugly was one of six Decepticon volunteers transformed by the process into new Pretenders. But soon after the process was completed, the Decepticons took notice of a digital eavesdropper. After tracing the intruder to Alternate Reality, Inc., Scorponok sent out his newly recreated troops to test their might against the spies. With the data they had stolen, the Autobots managed to create Pretenders of their own, and manufactured heroic counterparts to Scorponok's goons. A digital copy of Optimus Prime proved too great a tactician for Bugly and his kin to defeat, and they were soon driven into a retreat by their opposites. Pretender to the Throne!

When Scorponok's Decepticons met with those under the command of Ratbat, the two commanders were manipulated by Starscream, driving them against each other. The conflict eventually came to a head with an all-out brawl erupting between both groups. Bugly found himself facing off against Skywarp; the teleporting Seeker proved a difficult target until Bugly concentrated on predicting the pattern of his "jumps", and caught Skywarp with a blast of photon fire while he was re-materializing. Hostilities ceased when both teams realized they had been tricked, and Starscream was already on his way to seize the Underbase for himself. Cold War! The combined Decepticon forces were then forced into battle with the Autobots in another of Starscream's manipulations. When all sides agreed to temporarily put their grudges to rest and stop the treacherous Seeker, they scattered their forces across various cities where they expected him to strike. Bugly was part of a wave that included the Decepticon Pretenders and the Predacons that attacked the Underbase-powered Starscream in Tokyo. The Predacons quickly fell, but the Pretenders were protected from Starscream's cosmic blasts by their synthoplasmic shells. Dark Star

Later, Bugly got the job (along with Bomb-Burst) to fly Iguanus away from a skyscraper, in a plot by Scorponok to gain energy by channeling lightning. The Micromaster Off Road Patrol foiled the plan and Iguanus was toasted, so Bugly let him plummet to his doom and fled. King Con!

Bugly later assisted Submarauder with his Pretender shell at the Decepticons' New Jersey base, after he had served as Zarak's ferry across the nearby river. The Interplanetary Wrestling Championship!
During the Dark Ages, in a period when Optimus Prime and Megatron were lost in a space bridge incident, Bugly was part of the Chaos Trinity alongside Bludgeon and Mindwipe, seeking to expand their personal power through dark rites and mysticism. During one of their ceremonies deep in Kalis, they were interrupted by The Fallen, a mysterious and powerful being who offered the great power if they helped him find the Angles of Dissolution required for the Unbinding. The three Decepticons accepted. Fragmentation (G1) With preparations advancing, the trio met with The Fallen in the Well of All Sparks, and Bugly and Mindwipe watched as their new master gave Bludgeon a taste of the dark power he offered. The trio began stirring up interfactional conflicts to lure their targets to the right position to be captured. Escalation

The trio attacked Shockwave and Jetfire, who were meeting to combine their resources to work out what was going on. Bugly used his electro-stingers on Shockwave, disabling the Decepticon. With Jetfire captured, the trio wondered why Grimlock hadn't shown up as they expected he would, having leaked Jetfire's communication to him, but it turned out Grimlock had. The Dynobot jumped them, striking Bugly with his energo-sword and taking out the other two with equal ease. Revelation (The Dark Ages) They recovered to watch The Fallen take out Grimlock. He sent them to secure the third Angle, so the Chaos Trinity went and attacked the Protectobots. With Hot Spot reluctant to have his team form Defensor after previously losing control of the Combiner, the three Decepticons overwhelmed them and captured Hot Spot. Confrontation (issue) While The Fallen began the Unbinding, Bugly, Bludgeon, and Mindwipe attempted to protect the Well of All Sparks against Shockwave's forces. Bugly was part of the squad led to Earth by Bludgeon in the 1980s to collect Ore-13, and wound up buried inside their Mount St. Helens base after an eruption. In the late 20th century, Skywatch found and revived him, only for Bugly to escape the mountain. He didn't get far before being attacked by the newly-founded [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. The visiting [[Sgt. ===2005 IDW continuity===

On the lost world of Prysmos, Galadria was one of the Spectral Knights who served Leoric, vying for the favor of the enigmatic wizard Merklynn. When Prysmos was destroyed, Galadria was one of the ten thousand Prysmosians who escaped the cataclysm, and in 2018 she and the other survivors came to inhabit the city of New Prysmos, beneath Cybertron. When the Visionaries first convened to discuss the problem of the Transformers, Galadira questioned why Cryotek hadn't joined them. Schismatic

When negotiations between the two species broke down and the Darkling Lord Virulina had murdered Kup, Galadria agreed with Leoric's plan to stand against the Darkling Lords and their plan to enact genocide on the Transformer race with the Talisman. The Darkling Lords raced to deactivate the pylons powering the force field that kept them bubbled inside New Prysmos, and the Spectral Knights moved to stop them; in the ensuing battle, Galadria went up against Cindarr and used her totem shape to subdue Cindarr's gorilla form. When public opinion turned on the Spectral Knights, however, she was pelted by produce and forced to flee the city, allying with Wheeljack, Ironhide, and Breakdown. Cybertron No More

As the Transformers worked to devise a countermeasure against magic, Galadria argued with Arzon about whether or not to place faith in Leoric, with Galadria reaffirming her loyalty to their leader's choice to trust the Transformers. Wheeljack was able to devise a functioning "counter-wave" that would cancel out the energies of the Talisman. Galadria smugly told Arzon that she told him so. Desperate Measures (Transformers vs. Visionaries) Galadria Leoric watched as Wheeljack and Breakdown installed an anti-Talisman "bomb" inside Quickswitch; when a call from the turncoat Cryotek forced Leoric to return to New Prysmos, he put Galadria in command. She, Ectar, Wheeljack, and Ironhide all boarded Quickswitch, who used his drill configuration to burrow to the core of Cybertron before the Talisman could reach it. Quickswitch was just able to make it before his body crumbled, and emerging from the wreckage, the group was confronted by Cravex, Lexor, and Arzon—now a Darkling Lord. Once again rejecting his message of Cybertronian genocide, Arzon slapped her aside and sliced the bomb in half. Good Men

Galadria quickly counterattacked, knocking Arzon off his feet long enough for Wheeljack to deduce that Arzon had only damaged the bomb's outer casing; while the explosive module was still intact, it needed to be closer to the Talisman to work. Galadria covered for Ironhide as the red Autobot made a break for the Talisman, singlehandedly holding off both Cravex and Lexor, but the corrosive magic of the Talisman began disintegrating Ironhide's body. As the bomb began to activate, Galadria cast a healing spell over Ironhide's body; somehow, the conflicting energies unleashed in that moment united as one, and their combined power restored Ironhide to health, while simultaneously raising New Prysmos to the surface of the planet while terraforming the surrounding land into a copy of Prysmos's old biosphere.

A week later, when Leoric had recuperated from his injuries sustained while fighting Virulina, Galadria came to greet him in the infirmary and showed him their rejuvenated city. The Curtain

Shortly afterwards, Galadria was present in New Prysmos when Unicron attacked Cybertron. At Windblade's urging, Leoric channelled the power of the Talisman to teleport the population of Cybertron to Earth. Though Leoric intended for this to include the Prysmosians so they could fight against the Chaos Bringer, Road's End the entirety of the Prysmosian race was shunted back in time and space to the beginnings of their civilization. A World and a Future
On Prysmos, Virulina was a Darkling Lord and a follower of Darkstorm, eagerly spearheading the schism that split them off from the Spectral Knights. The Curtain When Prysmos was destroyed due to the gravitational forces of the planet's three suns, she was one of the few survivors who fled the doomed world, leaving Darkstorm to his fate. Decades later, Merklynn recreated a portion of their homeworld beneath the surface of Cybertron, and Virulina and the other "Visionaries" took up residence in New Prysmos. Disgusted by the sentient machines of Cybertron, Virulina was firmly in favor of annihilating them all in the name of Prysmosian sovereignty, seemingly supported by their enigmatic leader Merklynn. Schismatic

In one of their first meetings after arriving in New Prysmos, Virulina and the other Darkling Lords attending a meeting as the Visionaries debated what to do about the Cybertronians who controlled the planet, with Virulina being naturally in favor of taking up arms against the Transformers. Arguing with Leoric as they left the meeting hall, they ran into Cybertronian representatives Kup and Ironhide, though opening diplomatic overtures went down poorly. At the negotiating table, Virulina eventually grew tired of the Cybertronian's terms, arguing that her people didn't need the authorization of the Council of Worlds to live their lives. After storming out of the room and returning to the Darkling Lord's new fortress, she met with Cindarr, who passed on a rumor that one of the Cybertronians had been gravely wounded after exposure to a surge of Talisman energy.

At the next diplomatic meeting, a peeved Ironhide revealed news that the Talisman was now burrowing towards Vector Sigma at the core of the planet to complete its mission to remake Cybertron; when Virulina revealed that she knew that this would happen, Ironhide threw aside the table to get at her, prompting Virulina to deploy a magical spear. At the last second, Kup threw himself in her path, and the surge of energy intended for Ironhide disintegrated the old Autobot on the spot. Schismatic

Brandishing Kup's head as a trophy, Virulina and Cindarr went to free Merklynn from Cybertronian custody and learned that the old wizard had already used his own magic to disintegrate his guards. As a horrified Leoric watched, the three of them went off to address the assembled population of New Prysmos, announcing that their magic was particularly virulent against mechanical life and that, using their various arcane abilities, the Visionaries could conquer Cybertron and remake it. Virulina then led the Darkling Lords and several Spectral Knight defectors to destroy the pylons that projected the force field around their city, trouncing the Spectral Knights who stood against her genocidal ambitions, and, soon afterwards, using her shark totem form to defeat Leoric's lion shape. With Leoric in retreat and Merklynn by her side, Virulina was crowned chancellor of the city, and vowed to use their magic to drive the Cybertronians to extinction. Cybertron No More In reality, Merklynn saw the impulsive, fiery-tempered Virulina as a means to an end; once she had served her purpose by bringing the people of Prysmos under one banner and annihilating the Cybertronians, Merklynn would replace her with the more pliable Arzon. Good Men The Curtain

Using her new political power, Virulina successfully swayed the remaining Spectral Knights over to her side, announcing that the rebirth of Prysmos would soon be at hand. Her words successfully swayed the majority of the Spectral Knights, and soon Cryotek and the other Knights swore fealty to her. As she reclined in her new throne room, her Darkling Lords presented their new prisoner Waspinator, captured in the recent coup; though Waspinator hoped to serve her as she made war against the population of Cybertron, Virulina had other ideas, and used her magic to remake him into a facsimile of the magically animated vehicles the Prysmosians had once used on their homeworld.

Shortly afterwards, Arzon, Witterquick, and Mortdred attempted to infiltrate New Prysmos... only to encounter Virulina, now riding atop a magically twisted Waspinator. Desperate Measures (Transformers vs. Visionaries) Virulina took them prisoner and ordered Reekon to use a spell of Merklynn's devising to drain Witterquick and Mortdred of their life-force, channeling it into the Talisman to hasten its progress towards the core of Cybertron. Inviting her new follower Cryotek to walk with her, she informed him of her plans and told him that, to prove his loyalty to her, he'd need to torture his former brothers-in-arms. Good Men

As the Transformers raced to save their homeworld, Leoric and his allies marched on New Prysmos and engaged her in battle. Using his lion form, Leoric was able to knock her off Waspinator, prompting her to unleash the spell that Merklynn had taught her. Virulina had been double-crossed by Merklynn, however: her usefulness at an end, the spell began to drain her vitality as well, as Merklynn gloated that both sides had played their parts in his scheme.

Before either Leoric or Virulina could perish, however, the combination of the Talisman's energy and Galadria's healing spell unleashed at the core combined and spread over the entire planet, raising New Prysmos to the surface, restoring a portion of the Prysmosian biosphere, and returning both combatants to full health. After awakening a week later, Virulina sulked in the city's infirmary as Leoric left to assess their city. The Curtain
At some point before 543 AD, Beorht created a mystic artifact capable of sending someone through time. Unfortunately, a wandering dragon decided to use the cave containing it as a home, rendering the device essentially inaccessible. The beast's new lair eventually became known as the Dragon Mound.

Wandering the forests near the lands of Sir Aetheling the Red and Sir Wigend of Blackthorne, Beorht was found by Solomon the owl. Feeding the owl a rat tail, the wizard got Solomon to inform him that Princess Nimue had been kidnapped by giant metal knights, which interested Beorht enough to investigate.

Beorht soon discovered that the metal knight called "Lord Starscream" threatened to conquer their land and that the good metal knights were low on something called "energy". Using his staff as a conduit, Beorht channeled lightning into the fallen Autobots, energizing them enough to battle.

Following the Autobot victory, Beorht learned that Sir Hoist and his compatriots were time-travelers. Concluding that they came through his time-travel device, he led the Autobots and Decepticons to the Dragon Mound—where, unfortunately, the dragon had returned from visiting his relatives. Thankfully, Beorht had his Dragon's Bane with him, which Sir Warpath used to frighten off the beast.
With Sir Aetheling, Sir Wigend and Princess Nimue, Beorht wished the travelers off as they departed for 1985. A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court (episode)
Fiction
2005 IDW continuity family
Like the other Darkling Lords, Cindarr was a follower of Darkstorm, and one of the warriors who vied for the favor of the capricious Merklynn, competing with Leoric's Spectral Knights. The Curtain Following the great solar de-alignment that led to the destruction of Prysmos, Cindarr was one of the few Prysmosians who survived the cataclysm and eventually came to take up refuge in the magically-recreated city of New Prysmos beneath Cybertron. With the Darkling Lords now led by Virulina, Cindarr was one of the "Visionaries' who attended a meeting where the assembled Prysmosians debated what to do about the Cybertronians controlling the planet.

While the Visionaries' leaders Virulina and Leoric met with Cybertronian representatives Kup and Ironhide, Cindarr investigated rumors that one of the Cybertronians had been injured merely by approaching the magical energies of the Talisman, and found them to be true—and, as well, that the Talisman was slowly tunneling towards the core of Cybertron. When Virulina returned to the Monastery of the Darkling Lords, Cindarr revealed his findings to her, and that the Darkling Lords could potentially destroy the Cybertronians in a matter of months or less. Schismatic
When Virulina used this information to kill the Autobot ambassador Kup with her magic, Cindarr joined her and Merkynn in presenting Kup's severed head to the assembled citizens of New Prysmos as Virulina announced her intent to exterminate the Transformer race. ==Fiction==
2005 IDW continuity
Many years ago, Merklynn was a powerful wizard who inhabited the distant world of Prysmos, a world where technology ruled and magic had been forgotten by all. Scorned as a sad holdover of a dead religion, Schismatic Merklynn sought to restore the power of the "Arcana Vast" to his homeworld; some three hundred years ago, he did so by casting a spell that brought the planet's three suns into alignment, which shut down all technology on his homeworld. Cybertron No More In this new Age of Magic, Merklynn became a revered figure, and bestowed his gifts upon a group of Prysmosians, which became known as the Visionaries. Schismatic The Visionaries kept the peace on Prysmos for a time, but Merklynn—seeking to further consolidate his power over the planet and its people—masterminded a schism in their ranks, encouraging the silver-tongued Darkstorm to use his natural charisma to affect change. The Curtain

Thus divided, the Visionaries became to warring factions: Darkstorm's Darkling Lords and Leoric's Spectral Knights, who both vied for his favor. Good Men Merklynn's reign lasted for some time before the planet's destruction; though Merklynn blamed the planet's annihilation on the "Trinary De-Alignment," believing that he had failed to anticipate the day when the planet's three suns would move back out of alignment, their gravity tearing the world to bits, Schismatic Omega Supreme would claim that the planet had in actuality been destroyed by a surge of energy from the artifact that Merklynn would later discover and dub the "Talisman." Stranger Eons Either way, less than ten thousand Prysmosians survived the disaster, Schismatic and, searching for sufficient magical power to restore his homeworld, Merklynn struck out on his own. Transformers: Historia

One way or another, Merklynn landed on Earth at some point before World War II. Merklynn wove a human disguise for himself, forging a new alter-ego as "Garrison Kreiger" First Strike issue 6 and claiming that he was the son of wealthy German immigrants to conceal the truth behind his extraterrestrial origins. Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook issue 2
Lonely and isolated, Kreiger would join the army before the US entered the war in 1939; despite the anti-German sentiment of the time, Krieger hoped to plot a new course for himself. Though his wealth landed him a spot on the officer track, it didn't keep him off the front lines as he had hoped. Instead, he became a Second Lieutenant, and by 1943 he was assigned to the Screaming Eagles, a special tactics unit led by daring do-gooder [[Sgt.
While on a mission in Kalistan that year, the Screaming Eagles encountered mysterious robotic soldiers fighting for the Axis. One of these robots managed to land a hit on Kreiger, scarring his left eye. The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb Recognizing the robots for the alien constructs that they were, Kreiger was left inspired by his encounter, having realized that other alien civilizations had already left their mark on Earth. The Origins of Evil, Part Five: One Unholy Machine

Kreiger's preliminary theories were confirmed in the winter of 1944, when the Screaming Eagles were deployed to Paris to work with the resistance. While on a routine patrol, they encountered more of the strange mechanical soldiers, who had been drawn a pair of metal goliaths battling it out. After defeating his opponent, the victor asked the Screaming Eagles for help in finding the ship that had brought him to Earth, so that he could return there die in peace. Strange Visitors Though disgusted by the idea of the "mechanical hell" that the giant robots embodied, The Origins of Evil, Part Five: One Unholy Machine Kreiger pushed Savage to help the stranded alien, hoping to find out more about its motivations for coming to Earth. Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook issue 1

Centurion, Savage, and Kreiger tracked the ship to Brasnya, where more of the robotic troops swarmed them. Savage held the machines off as Kreiger and their metallic associate investigated the starship's frozen wreckage. Inside, Krieger found an empty recess that had once held what he dubbed a "Talisman", correctly deducing that it was a magical artifact responsible for conjuring the many lesser automatons that they had battled during their journey. Centurion explained that it had belonged to his "master" long ago; before he could explain who that master was, there was a loud sound from outside: the remains of Centurion's commanding officer, reanimated by the drones. As Kreiger watched the Maximal brawl with the creatures, he determined the drones were being controlled by the Talisman. As he did, the drones did something that made the ship and the Sergeant himself vanish without a trace. As he saw a furious Centurion fell his former commander's remains, Kreiger was inspired, Strange Visitors hoping to recover the Talisman and harness its magic to recreate his destroyed homeworld of old. First Strike issue 6 With Savage gone, however, Kreiger needed a new ally. So he reached out to the devastated Maximal, offering to help him... Strange Visitors
Over the next several decades, Krieger and Centurion spent years hunting down what Kreiger called "Binaltech", using whatever scraps of alien technology he could find to replicate the original Talisman. The Iron Klaw Despite his hatred of the Transformers, Centurion became one of Kreiger's closest confidants, who spent years grooming the lost Transformer into trusting him unconditionally. Unification Day: Dawn The Iron Klaw Over the decades, this endeavor would lead to the creation of many duplicate Talismans, inferior copies of the original. The Iron Klaw His search for paranormal relics led him to recover the bodies of "Optimus Prime" and "Shockwave", which were relocated to a top secret government facility constructed in the Brasnyan crater where the Axalon had once rested. When Eagles Scream Power and Glory As the decades passed, using technology derived from his studies, he began replacing parts of his body with cybernetics to extend his lifespan. Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook issue 2

In 1984, Kreiger enlisted the help of Dr. Elliot Marsh in his search for the genuine Talisman. The two discovered the artifact in the Tomb of Amtoltec in Dahshur, whereupon Kreiger promptly killed his guide and began experimenting with the Talisman. Eventually, he was able to animate and control a horde of Iron Troopers, and the unusual energy this produced attracted not only the attention of Joe Colton and his Adventure Team, but also Soundwave. A battle ensued between the team and Soundwave, until the Cybertronian decided to leave, having realized the Talisman wasn't his goal. In the aftermath, Kreiger took the device for himself without giving his "rescuers" so much as a "thank you". The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb

Kreiger was sanctioned by the government to study the Talisman, which was relocated to the Ice Man facility with the rest of his growing collection of artifacts. When Eagles Scream In the early 1990s, a depressed Mike "Atomic Man" Power came to him, seeking further upgrades to his cyborg prostheses after a chance encounter with the Talisman during their earlier clash in Egypt. Power and Glory The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb Though professing good intentions, Kreiger instead used Power as a test subject in what would be called "Project: Ice Man", subjecting Power to a battery of cruel experiments involving the Talisman and Power's increasingly augmented physiology, aiming to make his test subject "one with the Talisman." These experiments reached a turning point in 1994 when Kreiger had Power interface with the Talisman once more, which had the unexpected side effect of returning the lost Axalon and Sgt. Savage to normal space-time. Seconds later, Colton's "Adventure Force" arrived to confront Kreiger and stop his experiments. Discovering that Atomic Man with no heartbeat, they mistakenly concluded that Kreiger had murdered him, Power and Glory and Kreiger was dishonorably discharged for his crimes. Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook issue 2 It didn't bother him much, however—he had far greater ambitions by this point. Though the Talisman was taken from him by Colton's team, Kreiger continued his work in the Ice Man bunker, experimenting on the Atomic Man's mangled but still-living body and eventually turning him into the main nerve center of the base. Strange Visitors Power and Glory

To cover up and secure funding for his less-than-ethical experiments, Kreiger founded I.R.O.N., the "International Robotics Operation Network", where, as CEO, he developed a working relationship with Count van Rani, dictator of Kalistan and part-time supervillain. The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb Krieger's other shady contacts included the bounty hunter Colditz, who sometimes performed fieldwork for him with Centurion. Unification Day: Dusk

In the early 21st century, Kreiger joined Colton at Skywatch's "Project: Hot House" facility in Washington, where he was reunited with the Talisman and contracted to begin a series of experiments aimed at weaponizing the Talisman's corrosive energy. Circa 2006, Krieger realized that he needed Sgt. Savage to reactivate the artifact, and lured him to the base by using the Decepticon Bugly as bait. His body saturated with its power thanks to his trip through time, Savage's touch brought the Talisman back to life; its energies hurled Savage further into the future once more but killed Kreiger and Colton's Decepticon guinea pig Bugly outright, proving to Krieger that the artifact was toxic to Cybertronian life. When Eagles Scream

Kreiger disappeared from the public eye a few years prior to 2017. The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb Before he vanished, he ceded control of I.R.O.N. to van Rani, his main shareholder, who, in turn, appointed Tomax Paoli as the interim CEO of the company at some point after the fall of Cobra. The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb Kreiger worked with Miles Mayhem to test the effects of the Talisman on Mayhem's Decepticon prisoner Blitzwing. First Strike #0

In the chaotic months that followed Optimus Prime's annexation of Earth into the Council of Worlds, Joe Colton decided it was finally time to bring the Talisman into play and eliminate the Cybertronian threat. Before he could do so, however, he was targeted by the Dire Wraiths for assimilation. Forced to amputate his own hand to survive and infected with Wraith bio-matter, Colton contacted Kreiger for assistance. The two met in Paris, and Kreiger brought Colton to the Brasnyan Ice Man facility for assistance. First Strike issue 0

Seeing in Colton's words a way to reach Cybertron and recreate Prysmos by using the power of the Talisman to wipe out its mechanical civilization, First Strike issue 6 Kreiger agreed to help Colton in his plan to go outside the law and assemble a global cabal of international supervillains to aid him his objective. First Strike #0 Feeding him a lie that the Talisman could be used to poison the core of Cybertron, and fitting him with a new mechanical hand derived from Talisman technology, Colton adopted a new persona: that of the masked villain "Baron Ironblood," First Strike #0 and never suspected that Kreiger was manipulating him to advance his own agenda. First Strike issue 6

Continuing to serve as Colton's second-in-command, the pair continued to gather allies from across the world; working with Doctor X and the Iron Klaw, Kreiger had the Talisman transferred to an I.R.O.N. facility operated by the SIS in Schleteva, Hasbro Heroes Sourcebook issue 2 and used Talisman-derived technology to hybridize Storm Shadow's Red Shadows with extraterrestrial biomatter. Ghost in the Machine (IDW)

Shortly afterwards, Kreiger found the Predacons, who had been marooned on Earth following Galvatron's failed invasion some months back. Using his knowledge of Cybertronian biology, he found a way to mind-control them, and used one of his Talisman copies to improve on a previous failed combiner experiment and create Predaking. The brainwashed Predacons became private shock troops for van Rani. The Iron Klaw At a meeting in van Rani's Iron Castle, the group received a message warning them that Garrison Blackrock had accidentally stumbled on the Talisman. Ghost in the Machine (IDW)

Realizing that they would need to accelerate their plans, The Iron Klaw Krieger sent Centurion along with several other Iron Ring operatives to recruit Tomax Paoli The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb and ordered him and Centurion to retrieve the data on the original Ice Man experiments from I.R.O.N.'s headquarters in San Francisco. The Iron Klaw Shortly afterwards, Kreiger received a visit from Tomax Paoli, who had caught Blackrock and brought him to Kreiger so the man could have a look at him. Kreiger relished the opportunity, determined to find out why the Talisman reacted to Blackrock. Before he could get started, however, Baron Ironblood noticed an intruder lurking in the shadows. On Ironblood's warning that the former Joe wasn't working alone, Kreiger unleashed the Predacons. With Snake Eyes apparently subdued, Kreiger questioned Paoli about his success working on "Project: Iceman" in San Francisco, at which point Paoli turned out to be the real Snake Eyes, the other being a robot duplicate. Thanks to Snake Eyes, and the actions of his allies, Kreiger lost both Blackrock and the Predacons.

In the aftermath, Baron Ironblood declared they had no choice but to scrub Centurion and Paoli. The Iron Klaw Visiting Paoli in person, Kreiger warned him of the incoming band of "Revolutionaries", informing Paoli that their plans had changed and that he and Centurion were now bait. After Paoli and Centurion were taken in by the team, Kreiger took part in a conference call with his allies as he prepared to travel the Ice Man facility, stating his presence was "needed" to finish what they were planning. Strange Visitors The "Revolutionaries", joined by the forces of M.A.S.K., caught up with Kreiger in the Ice Man base. Kreiger turned the full fury of his inventions against the intruders: deploying a suite of anti-Cybertronian technology to take out Blackrock and Kup and even unleashing his monstrous "I.R.O.N. Cybertronians" against Action Man. Action Man, Mayday, and M.A.S.K. fought their way into the nexus of the facility, whereupon Kreiger infused Atomic Man with a sample of Ore-13 as his final, desperate weapon: the Talisman made flesh. Kreiger's ultimate gambit failed when the grief-stricken cyborg realized his mistakes and chose to commit suicide; in the aftermath, Krieger was arrested and taken into G.I. Joe custody. Power and Glory

Awaiting a pickup in Buenos Aires, Kreiger tried to appeal to a time-displaced Sergeant Savage, but the soldier had little patience for his treacherous comrade. Salvation came for the villain when Centurion—still loyal to his old friend—remotely hacked Blackrock's Onyx tower so that its defenses would fire on the incoming GI Joe air division. When Eagles Scream Gloating that Centurion couldn't be turned, Krieger slipped his restraints and shot Savage in the back as Metrotitan and Optimus Prime joined the conflict. Kreiger took command and ordered everyone to teleport out using the M.A.S.S. Device; though Centurion was left behind, the rest of Ironblood's team regrouped back in Kalistan, where, Talisman in hand, Colton told his operatives that it was time to strike. Ghost in the Machine (IDW) As Colton's alliance made their final preparations, Kreiger recounted his motivations to his leader, pleased at the notion of using the Talisman as a weapon of conquest—the ultimate realization of the ideals Sgt. Savage had once imparted upon him. The Origins of Evil, Part Five: One Unholy Machine

Piggybacking off Metrotitan's space bridge signal using the M.A.S.S. Device, Kreiger accompanied Ironblood and his cabal of villains to Cybertron as part of Colton's plan to wipe out the species. Carrying the Talisman aboard Miles Mayhem's "Outlaw" the team deployed Shazraella to Enerchange with a Cybertronian and unleash the Talisman in Cybertron's core.First Strike issue 2 His plans to recreate Prysmos well underway, Kreiger sought to eliminate one final loose end and dispatched Colditz to locate Centurion—who had recently absorbed the power of the Talisman and the memories of Mike Power—and remove him from play. Unification Day: Dawn Colditz was able to persuade Centurion to travel with him into the wildernesses of Cybertron, unaware that Centurion planned to murder his old master in revenge for two lifetimes of mistreatment. Krieger had deliberately manipulated all players in the hopes that Centurion and the "Revolutinaries" would annihilate one another, but the heroes were able to peacefully talk Centurion down and spare his life. Unification Day: Dawn

In the meantime, Kreiger stopped to install sound-dampeners to prevent Soundwave finding them, then had to get between Manheim and Shazraella as they bickered. Kreiger openly expressed his belief the Microspace native would inevitably betray them, which prompted her to set some security drones on the squad, as warning against further signs of disrespect. First Strike issue 3 The group was momentarily waylaid by the need to set a booby trap to delay Scarlett's forces, which allowed Metroplex to pinpoint them and begin reconfiguring his internal architecture to pin them down. As they reached the access hatch that would take them into the core of the planet, Colton successfully dropped Sunstreaker, leaving them with no further obstacles to their objective. First Strike issue 4 As they clambered towards the heart of Cybertron, Kreiger briefly slipped and would have fallen if not for Colton's intervention. The team fought their way through an Insecticon swarm guarding the center of the planet... only to find that Scarlett and her allies had caught up with them, just outside the core. First Strike issue 5

In the ensuing battle, Kreiger fought Matt Trakker and Gloria Baker, using his technology to hack their power-granting masks. The fight quickly went south as Elita One, Starscream, and Obsidian arrived, turning the fight into a chaotic free-for-all. His ultimate plan to infect the whole of Cybertron now stymied, Kreiger made a break for the Talisman, rationalizing that he could at least remake a fraction of the planet in Prysmos's image. Uttering a magic chant to activate the alien device, Kreiger harnessed the Talisman's energy to take control of the planet's energon supplies; shedding his human disguise, he revealed himself as Merklynn to all assembled and explained his motivations. His dream of colonizing a new world at last fulfilled, Merklynn used the planet's energon to forge the city of "New Prysmos" and gloated that the Spectral Knights and Darkling Lords would soon arrive to wipe technology from the galaxy and usher in a new age of magic. His goal completed for the time being, Merklynn teleported the combatants back to the surface of Cybertron. First Strike issue 6

Merklynn's new freedom was short-lived; when the other Prysmosians arrived on Cybertron, political tensions forced them to imprison their leader within their city, where he was constantly overseen by members of the Cybertronian Security Force. He enjoyed a modicum of freedom, however, and shortly after the Knights and Lords arrived he was permitted to oversee a summit where the two factions weighed up their options. Schismatic Realizing that Leoric's even-handed approach would not lead the Prysmosians to wipe out the Cybertronian race as he had hoped, Merklynn thus began stoking Virulina's natural ambition, encouraging her to take a proactive stance against the Cybertronians and begin the war of annihilation that he hoped for. Good Men Virulina was unaware that Merklynn saw her as a means to an end; once her fiery rhetoric no longer served a purpose, he would eliminate her and replace her with his next puppet, Arzon. Good Men

When negotiations with Ironhide and Kup broke down—fatally, in the case of the latter—Merklynn used his magic to easily disintegrate his guards, and joined Virulina as she prepared to destroy the force field that the Cybertronians erected around their city and begin the genocide of the Transformer race. When Spectral Knight leader Leoric objected to their plan, Merklynn easily swatted him aside with a bolt of spectral energy. Cybertron No More Following a failed insurrection against Virulina by the Spectral Knights, Merklynn approached Arzon and informed him of his plan to depose Virulina once the Transformers were extinct and Prysmos reborn. Arzon thus became a Darkling Lord, and Merklynn provided Virulina with a spell to torture her captives, draining their life force to accelerate the Talisman's progress to the core. Good Men

When Leoric returned to New Prysmos to take down Virulina himself, Merklynn allowed them to fight until the time came for him to betray Virulina; using the same life-draining spell on her, he aimed to eliminate both of them and allow Arzon to size control. When Ironhide and Wheeljack detonated a counter-frequency bomb, however, the subsequent burst of magical energy raised New Prysmos to the surface of Cybertron, transforming the surrounding region into a pristine recreation of old Prysmos.

This was of little comfort to Merklynn, however: once the Spectral Knights restored order, they imprisoned Merklynn once again. Though the Darkling Lord Cindarr assured him that he still had loyalists amongst the Prysmosians seeking to see him released, Merklynn had already used a puddle to see into the future... and knew that soon it wouldn't matter. The Curtain
However, the Quintesson's actions and attitude made this job difficult. After several incidents of Mara-Al-Utha causing his experiments to explode, an angry Golden One declared the Quintesson should go live in a cave. In 2006, Daniel Witwicky and the Dinobot Grimlock stumbled upon the room on Cybertron containing the transport device which the Quintessons had used to send Mara-Al-Utha and other Quintesson criminals to other worlds. Grimlock accidentally activated the device, transporting himself and Daniel to Menonia. Initially deceived by Mara-Al-Utha, who had disguised himself as the Golden One's favorite student, Daniel was imprisoned with the real student, whom he freed. Once they escaped, the elderly pupil led Daniel to the Golden One's prison cave. By this time, several others had tracked Grimlock and Daniel to Menonia, including his mother, Carly, the Autobot Blaster and his cassettes Ramhorn and Steeljaw. Steeljaw's tracking nose led them to Daniel, and Ramhorn's power shattered the boulder, freeing the Golden One, who regained some of his energy upon contact with sunlight.

Advised by his pupil of the Red Wizard's actions, the Golden One transformed himself into a dragon, flew to the castle, and struck the Red Wizard with mystic bolts that reduced his magic, revealing his true Quintesson form. However, the Golden One was still vulnerable, and Mara-Al-Utha was easily able to change him back to human form with magic. The Golden One told his allies he was too weak to make his counterspells heard, so Blaster converted to his radio-cassette deck mode, complete with a microphone for the Golden One to use. With his voice thus amplified, the Golden One was able to cast a spell that sent Mara-Al-Utha to yet another world. Direwolf was one of the generals of the Resistance during the Grand Uprising. He was coordinating troop movements around Kalis and Kolkular when the Vehicon Apocalypse began.

During the push on Iacon, Direwolf led one of the teams that seized control of the Yuss Naval Batteries. He marched on Iacon itself with Lio Convoy and the other generals of High Command, and lay siege to the High Pavilion to reach the Builder Assembly.

After the Vehicons turned on the Builders, Direwolf and Survive were entrenched with the surviving troops, cut off from the rest of High Command. While Lio Convoy and Blackarachnia pushed on to the Grand Mal in Nova Cronum, Direwolf and the others fought towards relative safety at the High Pavilion. The surviving Resistance forces were nearly overrun and surrounded by the Vehicons, but fortunately Hot Rod and Micromasters abandoned their safety to help the proto-formers reach the Arena alive. Derailment
Saberback (セイバーバック Seibābakku) would have you believe that he's a powerful shaman or sorcerer or warlock or whatever. Sometimes he mixes his themes up, but the point is that he is one of the rare Transformers with a knack for channeling the ill-defined forces of magic. Saberback can cast spells, create deadly illusions and even divine the future by reading tarot cards. This ability has given him a dark and mysterious reputation amongst the other Predacons, who tread lightly around him in superstitious fear.

The reality, though, is that Saberback uses his reputation to mask his own insecurities and shortcomings. An absolute coward in the face of danger, Saberback relies on "magic" because it's something he can either cast from a safe distance, distract enemies with while running away or just plain ole use to conceal himself until it's safe to come out. Saberback tries to maintain his front as a creepy and unfathomable mystic, but the Predacons who know him best can see through the illusion. His true nature is most prominently on display when he "breaks character" to bully the downtrodden Sling, a scrawny nerd who is easy-pickings for the cruel stegosaurus.
Saberback was a navigation specialist aboard the Dinosaur in the Cybertronian space fleet. He joined an away team responding to a distress call on the planet LGC-8803. While planetside, he responded to the siren call of Metascan Omega, the font of near-infinite knowledge once placed on the planet by the Logicons. He and his superior officer Apelinq entered a digital realm and performed a pilgrimage to the Eve of Providence. Once there, Saberback supplicated himself before Metascan Omega and became its avatar in communication with Apelinq. As Apelinq employed Metascan Omega to learn about the trials their crew faced on the planet's surface and in orbit, he asked it to intercede on their behalf. The Metascan Omega program intended to deny the request, in concordance with its programming directives, but Saberback managed to appeal to the program's desire for balance. The tractor beam of Metascan Omega had been misused by Lord Imperious Delirious to draw the Cybertronians to the planet; Saberback convinced the program to balance the equation by using the tractor beam to save his friends.

The Dinosaur crashed to the planet, never to fly again, but survived as a new colony dubbed Dinosaur City. Saberback remained behind at the colony while several members of the crew returned to Cybertron. Intersectionality In the years that followed Dinosaur City became a thriving mecca for Cybertronians and alien species. Eons ago, when the Quintessons still controlled Cybertron, Mara-Al-Utha dabbled in the forbidden arts of sorcery. The other Quintessons banished him to the magic-filled other-dimensional realm of Menonia, where he became the apprentice of the sorcerer known as the Golden One. When Daniel and Grimlock accidentally travelled to Menonia, they were spotted by Groyle, who informed Mara-Al-Utha. Seeing that the pair had fallen foul of the Golden One's followers, Mara-Al-Utha aided them, presenting himself as a friendly face in this strange land, and taking them back to his castle where he spun a tale favorable to himself. Taken in, Grimlock agreed to help defend the castle, unaware that Daniel was at that point being placed in the dungeon with the Golden One's other pupil. An attack on the castle by the Golden One's followers began, and Mara-Al-Utha retired to a tower to assume his true form and use his magic to aid Grimlock and the other castle defenders.

Meanwhile Daniel and the Golden One's pupil escaped the dungeon, and with the help of Ramhorn and some other newly arrived Autobots they freed the Golden One. The Golden One went to face the Red Wizard, but was weakened by his imprisonment and no match for Mara-Al-Utha's power, until Blaster provided him with amplification for his spells. Indeed, he sees himself as something of a scientist—endlessly pushing the evolutionary boundaries of his own species in the search to ensure a victory over the hated Solstar Order. Science and magic make for an uneasy combination, however, and Vekktral exemplifies this: untrustworthy, capricious, cruel, and endlessly willing to sacrifice the lives of his allies to further the outcomes of his twisted "experiments," his unique brand of madness manages to repulse even the most hardened of Decepticons.
Fiction
2005 IDW continuity
Following the destruction of their homeworld at the hands of the Space Knights, pockets of Dire Wraith survivors spread to remote, lightly populated worlds to regroup and rebuild their forces. Vekktral was one such Wraith, who, some two hundred years ago, wound up on the backwater planet of Mato Grosso. He and several other Wraiths attacked a group of Solstar students on their graduation field trip and found that one of their number was an an unusual creature that his instincts told him was both a machine and a child. Shining Armor issue 1 Intrigued, he attempted to merge with it, Shining Armor issue 2 but was shot by Nikomi and fled. Shining Armor issue 1

Five years later, Vekktral had deduced that the creature was Cybertronian in origin. He and a group of Dire Wraiths travelled to the Huni System, which had recently fallen to Decepticons, to met with Starscream and propose a mutual alliance. The Seeker was initially unimpressed by the aliens, but changed his tune when Vekktral revealed the existence of Stardrive; realizing that the order had concocted a means to keep their orphaned Transformer nourished, Starscream agreed to the alliance. Shining Armor issue 2

The Wraiths and Decepticons caught up with and destroyed a Galactic Council envoy due to meet with the Solstar Order at the space station Orchid Crossing; subsequently, the Wraiths disguised themselves as the Council dignitaries and used Astrotrain as a Trojan horse to gain access to the station by disguising him as a Council shuttle. Shining Armor issue 2

Arriving at the space station, Vekktral (in the guise of the Council representative) exchanged in some false pleasantries with the Solstar ambassador before dropping his disguise and slaying him, giving the order for the rest of the Decepticons to storm the facility. To Stardrive's horror, she recognized Vekktral as the Wraith who had almost killed her on Mato Grosso. Vekktral then pointed out the promised Cybertronian to Starscream (who could tell for himself which one was Cybertronian). Shining Armor issue 1

When a trio of Autobots arrived on the station to stop the Decepticons, they ignored the Wraiths entirely in favour of the Decepticons and Space Knights. Vekktral took advantage of the Autobots' unfamiliarity with his species and ordered one of his minions to assimilate Sky Blast; no Wraith had ever merged with a Cybertronian before, and as a result the subsequent fusion quickly mutated out of control to become an uncontrollable monster that tore Doomwings in half. The Wraith leader gleefully watched as his creation ran amok, ignoring Starscram's orders to try and reign in the rampaging beast. Hoping to kill the abomination, Ultra Magnus sabotaged the ravaged space station to send it tumbling into the atmosphere; the Wraiths fled aboard Astrotrain, but not before Vekktral complimented Starscream's aim as the Seeker sniped the Autobot shuttle. As the Decepticons entered the atmosphere of Xetaxxis, he noticed that the hybrid had survived reentry and that they would have to deal with him first. Shining Armor issue 2

The Decepticons tracked Sky Blast to a nearby Xetaxxian village, where the dying creature rampaged through the settlement before its energies reached critical mass and caused it to burn away to nothing. Eager to recreate the experiment, Vekktral was put out when he learned that the natives were organic and that Starscream was unwilling to sacrifice the lives of his troops to further the cause. Instead, Vekktral was partnered with Astrotrain to spring a trap for the ground-bound Autobots, preying on Bumblebee's sympathy for the natives. When the Autobots and Sata stumbled into said trap, Vekktral rode atop Astrotrain as he ordered his troops to seize the Transformers—and bested Sata in a brief fight—before Ultra Magnus fired a salvo of missiles at him. As Bumblebee and Sata made a break for the wreckage, Vekktral and his forces stayed behind to take down Ultra Magnus. Shining Armor issue 3 The stalwart Autobot slaughtered his way through a hundred Dire Wraiths before he was overwhelmed; using the knowledge he had gleaned from the demise of Sky Blast, Vekktral was able to fuse with Ultra Magnus to create a powerful yet stable form for himself. He and his Wraiths regrouped with the Decepticons at the wreckage of Orchid Crossing... and immediately backstabbed his one-time allies, hoping to advance the evolution of his kind by conquering and enslaving the Cybertronians. Shining Armor issue 4

Using his new Cybertronian strength and power, the Wraith-Magnus was easily able to hold off Space Knights, Autobots, and Decepticons alike, shrugging off the struggles of Ultra Magnus inside their shared mind... but in his arrogance, Vekktral had overlooked one crucial detail: Ultra Magnus was not an ordinary Cybertronian, animated by a tiny "loadbearing" Autobot inside a suit of armor. Convoy, the current loadbearer, was able to force open his body's chest compartment, giving Rom the opening needed to fire his Neutralizer at a weak spot and kill Magnus. Starscream had opted to sabotage the energon synthesizer and escape; Vekktral, down but not out, grabbed on to Stardrive and made one last-ditch effort to ensure that she died with the Wraiths as the synthesizer overloaded and sterilized half the planet. Stardrive was ultimately able to scrape him off her wing as she escaped the planet, and Vekktral was consumed in the subsequent explosion. However, unbeknownst to Stardrive, a small part of him continued to live on as a lingering Wraith infection that tainted her living metal.

Vekktral's demise was later observed and analyzed by a hive of Wraiths, who reached the conclusion that the Dire Wraiths should continue to eschew technology in all forms and continue to rely on their magic. Shining Armor issue 5
Mindwipe
:Mindwipe is a Decepticon Headmaster from the Generation 1 continuity family. Blah!

No one knows the dead quite as well as the Decepticon hypnotist, Mindwipe. A mysterious and mystical one, Mindwipe claims to have the powers to commune with Transformers who have long since left this plane of existence. From Black Sabbaths to seances to super-conductive antennae, Mindwipe knows of many methods to reach those who now rest in peace.

Well... not really. He desperately wants to speak with the departed sparks of dead Decepticons, but all his labors to create antennae and receivers for the departed have had... "limited" success. In reality, all he's picking up are radio broadcasts of old Earth sitcoms, which he's actually become quite fond of. Still, some day, Mindwipe hopes to finally bridge the gap between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead.

Despite those shortcomings, Mindwipe is a formidable opponent, able to hypnotize and control both organic and mechanical lifeforms just by making eye contact, and boasting an eerie and precognitive "sixth sense". But sometimes he forgets this and, when the odds look stacked against him, Mindwipe's more than happy to turn tail and get while the getting's good. His loyalty lasts exactly as long as his bravery.

He is binary bonded to the Nebulan Vorath, a scientist. Yes, a scientist. They disagree on pretty much everything. Sometimes he works with the Partner Drone Servant.

Mindwipe was one of Scorponok's soldiers on Cybertron. Upon storming the Autobots' base, the Decepticons were dumbfounded in finding it already evacuated. Mindwipe was responsible for detecting a series of "unintelligible sounds" coming from a nearby console, which turned out to be a signal coming from the planet Nebulos. Once translated, the transmission revealed that the Decepticons' old enemies, the unit led by Fortress Maximus, had settled on the planet, and Scorponok immediately took a strike team—of which Mindwipe was part—to Nebulos to exact revenge. Broken Glass!

Upon arrival, the Decepticons kidnapped the Nebulans who had summoned them, and Scorponok turned them over to Mindwipe for use in his experiments. Using his hypnotic powers, Mindwipe purged the fear from Monzo's mind and encased him in a polymer alloy bubble which was then sent floating off into the sky by a shot from Skullcruncher's anti-gravity gun. The alloy malfunctioned and the bubble popped, prompting Mindwipe to catch Monzo so as to not waste a "good laboratory animal". Before he could carry out any further experiments, Lord Zarak, one of their Nebulan prisoners, suggested that the Decepticons binary bond with them to become Headmasters, so that they could match the power of the Autobots who had recently gone under this process themselves. When the Decepticons next met the Autobots in battle, Mindwipe was now bonded with Vorath, and the two sides were evenly matched. To tip the odds, Mindwipe hypnotized members of the Council of Peers and Zarak's daughter, Llyra, into taking refuge in the Decepticon base, where he enclosed them in more polymer alloy bubbles. With the Autobots distracted by having to same the Nebulans, Mindwipe and the other Headmaster Decepticons shot them in the backs. Love and Steel!

Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters struck next at the Mercury Gardens of Melanossus, where they battled and defeated the Monsterbots. Brothers in Armor!! A little later, during another battle with the Autobot counterparts, Mindwipe hypnotized Brainstorm, causing him to crash into Hardhead. He, Weirdwolf, and Skullcruncher then surrounded the two Autobots, but a volley of firepower from Highbrow and Chromedome totalled Mindewipe's comrades, and he quickly retreated. The panicked withdrawal was merely a ruse, however; the Decepticons were attempting to lure the Autobots Headmasters into a trap so they could capture and study them, but the gambit ultimately failed. Worlds Apart! Eventually, the Autobots decided to depart Nebulos to protect it from the Transformers' conflict, and Mindwipe and the Decepticons pursued them. Brothers in Armor!!

Following the Autobots to Earth, Mindwipe detected the signal that had brought their enemies to the planet, and discovered that it originated from an abandoned Autobot headquarters inside a volcano cavern. But Fortress Maximus's Autobots weren't far, and the Decepticons fought them once again. Mindwipe and the others were stampeded out of the volcano when Fortress Maximus picked up a new Headmaster partner, the Earth human Spike Witwicky. Trial by Fire! The Decepticons proceeded to establish themselves on Earth, with Mindqipe's partner Vorath helping Scorponok to create Pretender technology, as Mindwipe watched silently in bat mode. Pretender to the Throne!

Scorponok put Mindwipe's hypnotic powers to use setting a trap for Highbrow, by having him mesmerize some humans who then led the Autobot Headmaster into a deep wood. The trap sprung, Highbrow attempted to flee, but Mindwipe pursued and used his powers to give him a severe case of amnesia. Scorponok tried to convince the brainwashed Highbrow that he was really a Decepticon, but Highbrow remained ill at ease, so the Decepticons tried to defuse the tense atmosphere by transforming their heads into Nebulan mode. Unfortunately, it was at this point that they discovered Mindwipe's fatal mistake: He had neglected to also blank the mind of Highbrow's partner, Gort. Gort knocked out Vorath, taking Mindwipe out of the fight, and then recombined with Highbrow, restoring his memory. He proceeded to rip Scorponok's head from his shoulders, the mental shock knocking the Decepticon leader offline. All in the Minds! Not long thereafter, amidst a time storm that threatened to end all reality, Mindwipe helped hunt down Highbrow in order to reclaim Scorponok's stolen head. Once Mindwipe retrieved the head and restored it to Scorponok's shoulders, the rest of his team was shunted to Limbo and replaced by a group of Decepticons from 2009 led by Soundwave. After some misunderstandings were ironed out, Mindwipe and the two other Decepticons not limboed away formed a temporary alliance with the Autobots, the future Autobots, and the future Decepticons against the time-traveling Galvatron. But the alliance was short-lived; when the future Ultra Magnus accidentally shot Scorponok, Mindwipe joined his fellow present-day Decepticons in tearing Ultra Magnus apart. They retreated with Scorponok's wounded body just before Galvatron was thrown into the time storm, sating it and saving the universe. Time Wars

Inevitably, Scorponok's band of Earthbound Decepticons met with Ratbat's band of Earthbound Decepticons, and a group including Mindwipe was given a really boring tour by Starscream of Ratbat's island headquarters. When the tour's star attraction, the kidnapped Buster Witwicky, unwittingly let slip that Ratbat was searching for a powerful artifact called the Underbase, Scorponok was enraged. Scorponok took Mindwipe and the others to confront Ratbat for hording such information, and a civil war broke out between the two Decepticon camps. Cold War! In time, they discovered that this fight was in line with Starscream's plan to seize the Underbase's power for himself, and a cease-fire was agreed upon. But this reprieve was short, as the Autobots were drawn to the island base by Starscream's manipulations as well. Mindwipe was quick to maul the hapless Beachcomber before another cease-fire was brokered, this time between the two opposing faction. Starscream went on a rampage, armed with the Underbase's cosmic energy, but partially-organic Transformers were immune to its power. The Decepticons suffered many casualties, but Mindwipe was not among them. Dark Star

In the wake of the Underbase Saga, Scorponok took command of the remnants of the Decepticon army. Mindwipe and Weirdwolf accompanied their leader to a rendezvous with the mercenary Dealer in order to purchase Autobot battle plans the merc had stolen, but before they could depart, they were attacked by Optimus Prime. "Dealer" was actually Doubledealer, and had sold them out to their enemies! (Double) Deal of the Century! The Decepticons soon established a headquarters under a garbage dump in New Jersey, across the river from New York City. Mindwipe was charged with engineering an energy conversion machine to convert power into Energon, and all he needed was for a cable to be laid across the river, connected to an electrostator placed at the top of the Empire State Building. Unfortunately, Iguanus failed at this and seemingly perished. King Con!

The Decepticons scrambled once again when the Micromaster Air Strike Patrol summoned them to Air Force Base after the wayward new recruits, facing Optimus Prime and the entire Autobot army, were seemingly over their heads. Though both Optimus Prime and Scorponok privately suspected someone had arranged for this altercation, a fight broke out regardless. Mindwipe got punched in the batface by Blurr, while the Air Strike Patrol made their quiet retreat. The Resurrection Gambit! Mindwipe recuperated and joined Scorponok in advancing on the Autobots, just as Optimus Prime, strangely, called all his troops other than himself to return to the Ark. Scorponok was suspicious, and Mindwipe suggested that some powerful weapon was hidden inside the Autobots' shuttlecraft. Mindwipe and the others rushed Optimus Prime as he tried to stop Scorponok from firing on the shuttlecraft, but Prime, who was quickly becoming frustrated with the day's events, was able to overpower all of them. As Optimus pleaded to Scorponok to stop fighting and determine the mastermind who was pulling their strings, they were interrupted by a huge hint: Starscream had arrived, reborn as a Pretender. All the Familiar Faces! Curiouser still, Mindwipe was shocked as Starscream claimed he had been sent by Megatron, also believed to be dead! As Starscream's Pretender shell trounced Optimus Prime, Scorponok half-heartedly ordered Mindwipe and Weirdwolf to help him. Mindwipe learned the hard way that his hypnotic power had no effect on the new Starscream, and was taken out of the fight with a signle blast. Shortly thereafter, Starscream suddenly reverted to his classic cowardly self and begged for mercy. Skin Deep

Scorponok reluctantly allowed Starscream back into their ranks, a decision that didn't sit well with his troops. Mindwipe and most of the other Decepticons gave Starscream a wide berth, fearing the power he had displayed during his debut battle as a Pretender, Fallen Star! and soon began to turn their anger on Scorponok. Mindwipe was one of the most vocal members of this retaliation, and pointed to the hole Starscream had put in his chest. He reminded Scorponok that Starscream was a chronic traitor, but Scorponok rebuked him, noting that Starscream was a powerful warrior needed to bolster their ranks, and was better kept close so they could monitor his actions. The Primal Scream But when Starscream went missing, Mindwipe and Triggerhappy decided they'd had enough and left Scorponok's command. Ironically enough, they ran into Starscream himself and were strong-armed into joining his small band of Decepticons against Scorponok. Eye of the Storm Mindwipe and Triggerhappy returned with Starscream, Shockwave, and Ravage to Shockwave's underwater headquarters, where they learned that their forces also included the Battlechargers. With only seven on their team, Mindwipe was not impressed and expressed doubts, but when Starscream told him that they'd either fight for them or be executed, he quickly changed his mind.

Immediately, the seven flew to Scorponok's base and fired into it from the air, collapsing it on an Autobot/Decepticon alliance that had been forming. Surrender! Once again, Mindwipe was the designated worrier. Though the collapsed base showed no signs of life, if Scorponok had survived, he said their best bet was to get while the getting was good. Triggerhappy agreed, and Starscream silently pitied their cowardice. Unfortunately for Starscream, Mindwipe was right, and Scorponok burst out of the ground to deal with them. Shockwave ordered Mindwipe and the others to rush Scorponok, an idea that was not popular with Mindwipe, and for good reason. Scorponok shrugged off their attacks. Mindwipe and Starscream subsequently concerned themselves with Scorponok's troops while Scorponok battled his equal, Shockwave. ...All This and Civil War 2

Mindwipe put his magic powers to good use and hypnotized Field Commander Soundwave with the intention of controlling the troops through him. It was a good plan! And Kup agreed! At gunpoint, Mindwipe told Soundwave to tell all the other Decepticons to lay down their arms in service of the Autobot/Decepticon alliance against Unicron—just in time for every Transformer on Earth to be warped to Cybertron by their creator, Primus. Out of Time! Mindwipe watched with the other warped Transformers as Primus explained to them the history between himself and Unicron, and that the Transformers' destiny was to defeat him. {{storylink|The Void! Once the massive planet-sized Unicron arrived, Mindwipe and the other Transformers froze in terror. After watching Brainstorm get eaten by the Chaos Bringer, Mindwipe regained enough of his faculties to be able to run away. The Transformers did eventually come around and face their destined adversary, but it did not end well for Mindwipe. As Unicron tore an avatar of the Creation Matrix to pieces, the resulting shockwave sent what was left of Mindwipe's body flying. On the Edge of Extinction!
earthforcefiction
After having been thrown out of the Decepticon army for trying to hypnotize Scorponok into making him leader, Mindwipe devised a master scheme of his own. He manufactured thousands of thought-sensitive Sleepfast™ night lights, selling them to humans on the novelty that they actually turned on or off just by thinking at them. Little did the humans know, however, that repetitive use of the night lights had a subliminal mind-control effect. Over time, Mindwipe would have gained an army of human slaves! Luckily for Humanity, the Autobots Wheeljack and Snarl came to investigate, and they confronted Mindwipe in his storage facility. He was beaten by his own night lights when the Autobots suddenly thought "Lights on!" in a darkened room, turning on thousands of Sleepfasts™ at once and temporarily overloading the Decepticon's neural circuitry with the sudden flash.
He was involved in the disastrous first encounter between Megatron's troops and Jhiaxus's Cybertronians. He was in the midst of voicing the selfish but sensible idea of abandoning Megatron to his fate and gettin' the slag outta there when Drag Strip found their commander. New Dawn

After an all-too-brief period of peace following the resurrection of Optimus Prime, Mindwipe was one of the many Decepticons who attacked Autobot City in 2007, creating a huge distraction to cover for Pounce and Wingspan's theft of the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. During the battle, Mindwipe used his hypnotic powers to seize control of Lightspeed's mind, forcing him to back away, over the edge of a nearby cliff and into the lake below. The Autobots were able to steal back the key, but not before it was used to briefly open the Plasma Energy Chamber, releasing a bolt of energy that hurled a group of Autobots, and the key, across the galaxy to the planet Nebulos. Mindwipe was among the Decepticons sent to Nebulos in pursuit of the key, and he participated in the first battle on the planet. When the Decepticons were forced to retreat, Scourge instructed them to gather the fallen Autobots so they could torture them for information on the key's location, but Mindwipe went one better, seizing the not-fallen-at-all Crosshairs and dragging him off. The Rebirth, Part 1

In order to rescue their allies, the Autobots became binary bonded to a group of Nebulan rebels as powerful "Headmasters". Defeated in battle by this new breed of Autobot, Mindwipe and the Decepticons were sent fleeing into the Nebulan wilderness, where they were then accosted by the mentally-controlled machines of Nebulos's evil ruling council, the Hive. The Decepticons were brought to the Hive's underground city, where their ruler, Lord Zarak, proposed that they join to become Headmasters as well. Naturally, the Decepticons were not responsive, until Zarak forced them to agree by attacking them with more of their machine servants. Mindwipe's head was subsequently removed and re-engineered to become an exo-suit for the Hive scientist Vorath, but the partnership had immediate teething troubles when Vorath bemoaned that fact that someone of his rank had been paired with a "mangy night-scavenger". Warning him that his mystic powers could trump anything science had to offer, Mindwipe mesmerized Vorath and forced him to combine with him.

The newly empowered Decepticons proceeded to attack the Autobots, and in the midst of the fighting, Mindwipe used his extra-sensory powers to deduce that the Autobot Brainstorm was carrying the Plasma Energy Chamber key. In the year 2011, Mindwipe and his fellow Headmasters Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher joined Galvatron's Decepticons in a massive attack on Cybertron, seeking to seize control of the destabilized Vector Sigma and establish a Decepticon hold over the planet through the computer. Mindwipe's hypnotic powers proved instrumental in the battle, as he put Grimlock to sleep, but Galvatron was less than impressed, since he also accidentally knocked out Skullcruncher with the technique. Undeterred, Mindwipe put his powers into play again a short time later, taking out Grimlock (again!), Slag and the Throttlebots, and leaving the entrance to the computer base wide open. Hot Rod and the Autobot Headmasters quickly pulled out, heading for Cybertron with the Matrix, and Mindwipe and the Decepticons gave chase, leading to a showdown in Vector Sigma's chamber. When Hot Rod used the Matrix to become Rodimus Prime again, he and Optimus Prime proceeded to double-team Galvatron, and Mindwipe and his fellow Decepticons fled rather than face the combined might of the two Primes. Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime
The two Autobots discovered the deception immediately upon arrival, but it was too late: Mindwipe and his partners in crime had already departed to the planet Praum, where they watched as Scorponok sprang a trap on the Autobot Headmasters. He taunted Chromedome with the fact that the bombs could not be deactivated, then transformed to bat mode and made himself scarce with all due speed. Luckily, before the bombs could be triggered, Chromedome deduced the location of Scorponok's weak spot, and Fortress Maximus exploited it to critically damage the Decepticon leader. Attempting to defend the tower set up in Egypt, Mindwipe, Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher unveiled their newest technique: the "Trio Formation", an odd move that involved them stacking on top of each other like a totem pole. The mode was not exactly a success, as Apeface and Snapdragon thought to get in on the action and wound up toppling it over. Optimus Prime brushed off this attempt at intimidation, telling Mindwipe to get out of his way. One solution is to unscrew the toy and flip the tail over so it angles upwards. Doing this doubly benefits the beast mode in that the tail now acts as a sort of third leg for stability. Speaking of swinging to the front, his shoulders are articulated to swing his robot arms chestward in beast mode, putting the chromed "speaker"-looking bits forward, as depicted in most media... but not in the toy's instructions. :Legends Wipe is a redeco and retool of the Titans Return mold, with a paintjob and headsculpt more faithful to how the character looked in The Headmasters (compared to the more toy-based paintjobs of his teammates). He also comes with the Partner Drone Servant, a redeco of the accessory that came with Titan Master Crashbash.

:As with all of redecoes of Crashbash's vehicle accessories: care must be taken with the gun mode's handle: the handle fits tightly in many 5mm-compatible closed hands, and combined with the handle's lack of metal pin running through the joint, removing it by force causes the handle to pop out of the joint.
:Chromedome, Computer Programmer is one of forty-six double sided character cards released as part of Wave 5 of the Transformers Trading Card Game, Titans Masters Attack. As a character with a body mode, Mindwipe begins the game with a Titan Master attached in head mode. Once Mindwipe is KO'd, said Titan Master is deployed.

:The card's artwork is based on the Titans Return Mindwipe toy, with the body mode artwork being reused from the toy's packaging art (minus the Vorath Titan Master), and original alt mode artwork with lines by Dan Khanna.

:This card's set was originally set for an April 2020 release, however due to the global COVID-19 pandemic the release was pushed back to May 29, 2020.
Notes
*In the television commercial for Marvel Comics' Headmasters limited series, the Autobot and Decepticon Headmasters are shown having different head designs than the ones their Nebulan partners would later turn into. These designs were seemingly never used in any other piece of Transformers media. The models for most of them, however, turned up in the excellent Transformers Generations guidebook... except for Mindwipe's. Damn it.
*Throughout Mindwipe's Bob Budiansky-penned appearances, he was Scorponok's indispensable and loyal right-hand man. Once Simon Furman took the reigns, Mindwipe became a rambling coward who'd run if the wind blew the wrong way.
*The most distinguishing elements of Mindwipe's silhouette are the bat mode wings arcing out from his back, but on Mindwipe's toy, they actually wind up upside-down in robot mode, and folded back. As upside-down wings would look fairly rubbish when spread out, his package art and American character model fudge the details on them just enough to make them seem as if they fan out in both directions from the middle of his back. His Japanese character model, however, just renders the wings right-side up, as in bat mode, fanning out over his shoulders. To accomplish this little real-world toy impossibility, his in-show transformation has his wings detach from his body, then reconnect, staying right-side up all the way through.
