A pretty crappy miniseries comes to an end? Would you prefer the Transformers crossover with the Terminator?

Synopsis
With a surge of Spidey-strength, Spider-Man breaks free from his restraints. He thanks his irregular ally Doom for disabling Astrotrain. Ratchet and Prowl explain a bit of the situation to the Webslinger, and what must be done.

Iron-Man, in his gigantic mech with power enhanced by energy contributions from the Autobots, faces against Megatron. To fight against his own draining energy, Tony's suit engages the supplemental power cells, but it's too much energy to be handled, and forces the suit into an overload. With a "Zzzzzzat", Megatron removes the head from the armor behemoth. As Iron Man lies on the ground, Megatron notices that several Autobots are missing.

Wolverine, Bumblebee, and Jazz arrive inside the Decepticons' dome. The three find Prowl and Ratchet using Megatron's technology to receive a power-up from Spider-Man. Wolverine has the bright idea that his abilities can also be copied to enhance the good Transformers. When the Autobots are charged, Doom takes a few of the party to destroy the Psycho-Prism.

Outside, the enhanced Transformers and their amazing friends battle Megatron (including Iron Man, who wasn't killed by Megatron).

Inside, Doom's posse finds the Psycho-Prism. The Prism's defender, Ramjet, retreats rather than fight more. Wolverine destroys the prism with his adamantium claws. With the crucial weapon non-functional, the entire dome collapses.

The operation a complete failure, Megatron commands his troops to retreat. Before he can leave, Spider-Man, the rest of the Avengers, and some of the Autobots, beat up on Megatron a bit more. While the Avengers talk about the affair to each other, the Autobots sneak away. Leaving the site of conflict, the Avengers and Autobots both suspect that the identity of the Avengers' Quinjet has been taken by Ramjet... but that would be crazy!
Armada
*Optimus Prime (Super Base, 2002/2003)
**Japanese ID number: MC-01
**Accessories: Trailer/armor, light-up rifle, missile, left & right smokestacks

: The first Unicron Trilogy Optimus Prime toy transforms into a longnose truck cab of made-up model. His clear-plastic smokestacks can detach and form a double-barrelled pistol that he can hold in robot mode, and a button on top of his head causes his mouthplate to jiggle up and down as if he were talking (the irony being that while this was a familiar trait of G1 Optimus Prime, in the Armada animated series, this Prime's mouthplate remained static when he talked). He can also hold a large cannon that is stored within his trailer, and his chest flips down to reveal a (non-removable) Matrix. He is packaged with his Mini-Con partner Sparkplug.

:The toy's primary gimmick is its auto-transforming trailer. Once activated, it transforms into one of three configurations, triggered by an infra-red signal transmitted from the cab robot. Transforming the cab into robot mode will cause the trailer to automatically flip open the traditional battle-station configuration - Prime can stand in the center of the base, but otherwise, it is more to scale with Mini-Cons (despite the fact that it lacks any great amount of flat surfaces for them to stand on). The base features a central tower with a pop-out artillery emplacement and a mount for Prime's large cannon; a rotating missile-firing turret; two Mini-Con storage bays, one of which is equipped with a tab that owners can manually slide to launch a Mini-Con from the bay; and two live Mini-Con hardpoints, one of which pops up a non-firing turret, the other activating a laser noise.

:Prime's cab and trailer can also combine to form a super robot mode. The cab transforms into the torso portion - doing so causes the trailer to automatically raise itself up off the ground to become a pair of legs (as long as you're not playing with it on carpet). Connecting the torso to the legs causes the super-robot head to pop up with a metallic shriek. Pressing the Autobot symbol on the figure's chest activates a pulsing laser sound effect, the Japanese version also has an additional Japanese phrase, which roughly translates to "Convoy, ready for battle!" and the small grey button on his right shoulder illuminates his fist with a red LED, which can illuminate either of his guns, as well as - notionally - the Star Saber sword. The Star Saber was specifically cast in clear plastic for this purpose, but in practice, the idea was something of a failure, with the light failing to carry even halfway up the blade. Prime's firing missile and Mini-Con activated gimmicks remain accessible in this mode, but look a bit doofy if you deploy them.

:In lieu of combining with his trailer, Prime can also link his torso up to Armada Jetfire, who forms a pair of legs, as "Jet Prime" (Jet Optimus on the cartoon, or "Jet Convoy" if you own the Japanese version). In addition to this, he can combine in various configurations with Armada Overload, who can form a pair of massive cannons that attach to either Prime's base mode, or mount over the shoulders of his super robot torso (with either his trailer or Jetfire as legs), forming Optimus Prime Megaweapon (or Magna Convoy).

:The initial Hasbro release of this toy had tabs in its shoulder joints that did not allow the shoulders to rotate above the horizontal default position, so as not to break the wires that run through the toy's right arm in super mode. Coupled with the limited elbow joints, Optimus Prime could only point his weapons in the direction towards the ground. These tabs were not in the Takara version (which also differed in its use of bright yellow plastics and paint in place of the Hasbro's gold), and were also removed from subsequent version of the Hasbro release.

: Late in the Japanese run, Optimus toys in Jusco stores came with blind-packed "Space Galaxy" versions of the individual Destruction Mini-Con Team members, one toy per box.

<span id="Super-Con"></span>

: A smaller version of the Super Base toy, this version of Armada Optimus Prime retains the vehicle mode and coloration, but has no trailer or super robot connectivity (though he can still pull the trailer). He retains the flip-down chest in robot mode, but has no molded Matrix. Instead, the toy is designed for maximum posability. Attaching a Mini-Con to the Powerlinx plug on Optimus' back activates a double-fisted "punching" gimmick. He came with the Mini-Con Over-Run. This Optimus Prime is the shortest of the Armada Supercons in robot mode. His smokestacks can come off like the Super Base version, but lack the "gun" mode or any other method of connectivity to Optimus.

: The initial release of the figure featured silver lights on his roof; later on, the lights were changed to yellow, and later still, an Autobot emblem was added to the roof of the vehicle. The latter two changes only affected the American release.

: This mold was also used to make Armada Nemesis Prime, Universe Ultra Magnus, and the first Cybertron Deluxe-class Optimus Prime.

: Shipping in a great many waves throughout most of the later run of the line, Supercon Optimus became a notorious pegwarmer.

: The acronym "STD" in the Japanese release ("STD Convoy") stands for "standard," as in this is the standard toy release of Convoy, without a Super Mode. It means something else in western countries.
: A redeco of Optimus Prime with golden vacuum metallizing. It was a first prize of the sortition and only exclusive in certain stores and department stores. There is a golden vacuum metalizing Armada Jetfire as another first prize. They can combine into Golden Jet Prime, of course.

: An extremely simplified version of Optimus Prime, turning into a truck, although without any trailer. He can combine with the other Happy Meal Armada toys (Hot Shot, Red Alert, and Smokescreen) into "Mighty Robot", a super robot. Well, kind of, anyway.

: This is an extensive redeco of the Super Base Armada Optimus Prime toy, with the new colours bearing little similarity to the original color scheme. Though, the colors of the cab truck are vaguely similar to the Diaclone toy that would become Ultra Magnus. He came with Sparkplug again, though this time his Mini-Con partner got new molding. All of the gimmicks from the first version remain intact in this one, though --as noted-- the super robot mode arms are not as restricted.

: A Japanese TV Magazine exclusive, this release of the Supercon-Class Convoy toy has almost all of his parts cast in translucent plastics, hence the 'crystal' title. Available via mail-order, only 5000 pieces were distributed in October of 2003.

: This version of Optimus Prime is supposed to represent his "spark" from when his body was destroyed in the Armada cartoon episode Crisis.
Optimus Prime's red plastics and paint were replaced with gold, the only changes made to anyone in the set.
: This set is a Toys "R" Us Japan exclusive, consisting of a slightly redecoed, and more show accurate Powerlinx Optimus Prime (dubbed "Convoy Final Battle Coloration"), a "crystal" version of Overload ("Ultra Magnus Special Clear Version") made out of transluscent plastics, and an exclusive X-Dimension redeco of the Street Action Mini-Con Team. This set is entirely "new" content not available in the normal mass-retail Micron Legend line, and is also the last release of "X-Dimension" Mini-Cons.

: Rather than coming with individual bio cards for Optimus and Overload, this set came with a single card for the "Magna Convoy" combination of the two. (And no card for the Street Action Team, oddly enough.)

:Armada Built to Rule Optimus Prime transforms into a fair approximation of his vehicle mode, but the robot mode is quite inaccurate, due to the very broad, flat Trans-Skeleton with thin, stick-like limbs attached to it. The set came with a very simplistic "Mini-Con" Sparkplug partner kit that did have a more dedicated "Powerlinx" connector than the standard construction pegs, though these are a bit too thin to be used as attachment points for regular Mini-Cons (they stay, sort of, but it's a very loose connection). The 101-piece set also features pressure-launch missile-firing "smokestack" cannons.
: Energon Optimus' first toy transforms into a Cybertronic short-nosed truck cab. A switch on his back alternates between different electronic sound effects, corresponding to his four drone-vehicles. A button on his side also activates electronic sounds and a light in his chest. He also has a spring-loaded missile launcher hand-cannon.

: Optimus' trailer is designed to carry the Prime Force (The "Grand Force" in Japan): Fire-1 (fire truck), Copter-2 (helicopter), Digger-3 (drill tank with gear-wheel-activated spinning drill), and Submarine-4 (submarine). Each of these drones can attach to one of Optimus's limbs to form a variety of super modes (which the Japanese line dubbed "Grand Cross"). The base robot can also combine with Energon Wing Saber to form "Optimus Prime Fight Mode" and "Optimus Prime Flight Mode", and Omega Supreme to form "Optimus Supreme" (or "Powerlinx Omega Supreme", according to the toy packaging).

: The earliest releases of this toy had a different head sculpt with a mouth where the faceplate is, similar to Beast Wars Optimal Optimus. It was soon replaced by the more familiar head sculpt with a faceplate. The Takara version of the toy uses the mouthless molding, but also has a chromed front grill and more intricate paint applications. It also lacks all of the sound effects of the Hasbro version.

: A redeco of this mold was planned to be released with Smallest Transformers Optimus Prime as a Target exclusive, but was canceled.

: The Energon version of Built to Rule Optimus Prime was designed with a much more solid skeleton with larger, blockier limbs. He can be rebuilt from a Cybertronic truck cab with a trailer-mounted, pressure-launch dual-missile cannon (with electronic lights and sounds) to a robot, to basically whatever you feel like doing with the parts.

: Unfortunately, due to the slow performance of the Built to Rule line overall, the Energon versions only had a limited, test-market release initially in and around Cincinnati, Ohio. **Accessories: Rifle, missile, Matrix, Matrix-style Cyber Key

: The first Cybertron Optimus Prime toy transforms into a heavily-armed fire truck of made up origin. The wings and guns can be rearranged so the fire truck has a flight mode. Like Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, the forward section of the fire truck detaches to transform into his standard robot mode, while the rear 'trailer' portion becomes a battle station (if you squint).

:The trailer can combine with the standard robot mode to form a massive, winged backpack for the toy's Super Mode. On the box, there is a photograph of the cannons below the waist but the instructions say that the cannons go above the shoulders - both the show and every other version of the toy show the cannons positioned below the waist. A lever on the back of Optimus Prime's head raises the traditional Prime faceplate, covering his Optimus Primal-style mouth. He also came with a removable matrix, he can barely hold it in his giant hands.

:When a Cyber Key is inserted into the large, rectangular electronic rail gun, the panels covering it open up and a different sound effect is played when the firing button is pressed. An LED also lights up. When a Cyber Key is inserted into the cannon that the rifle can attach to, two spring-loaded missile launchers pop out.

:The Japanese release features more intricate paint applications, most notably the addition of gold paint to the Cyber Key, and the backpack's wings are attached by a metal hinge, and therefore cannot be removed, unlike the American toy..

:In Super Mode, Optimus Prime can combine with Leobreaker to form "Savage Claw Mode", or Wing Saber to form "Sonic Wing Mode".
:This Costco exclusive is a redecoed Super Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime toy. He was sold with Ultra Magnus, a repackaged Super Universe Ultra Magnus. He transforms into a Japanese Hino Brandlier fire truck. Harkening back to Generation 1 toys, he features chromed wheels with rubber tires. The forward section of his truck detaches to become his standard robot mode. His 'trailer' can be reconfigured into a sort of battle station. The station can then be disassembled and attached around the robot to form his Battle Mode.

The first in TakaraTomy's Hybrid Style series, Galaxy Convoy was a partly die-cast figure with scaled-down equivalents of the accessories that came with the leader-class figure. It came with alternate sets of hands for use when posing (or holding the rifle, which can be detached from the end of one of the backpack-mounted cannons and used separately). It also came with a pair of switchable heads, one for standard mode and one for Super Mode, though only the former will fit when transformed into his alt mode.
:A redeco of the Super-Con Armada Optimus Prime recolored to resemble the Leader class Galaxy Force Optimus Prime figure. Like the "Battle in a Box" Ultra Magnus version of this toy, the forearms of early releases of this toy were switched, making the elbow completely useless. However, this was corrected and later releases have his arms bend properly. At the tail end of the Cybertron line, the four planet symbols were added to the truck-mode's cab.

: Optimus Prime includes a retooled Cybertron style Cyber Key, with a "blank" central area (so any faction symbol could be tampographed on) and a Mini-Con-style Powerlinx socket on the back to operate his nominally-Mini-Con-activated gimmick.
:Released at the tail-end of Cybertron, Galaxy Force Optimus Prime is a redeco of the Leader-class toy. The main differences are black replaces the blue plastic and blue paint, tinted translucent parts replace the translucent blue parts, and the toy's rifles, rail gun covers, missile launchers and leg guns being cast in red plastic. The joints that connect the waist to the thighs have become more resistant, making it less likely for the figure to fall. Also, the red paint used is much closer to fire-engine red than the original's. The unique Matrix-shaped Cyber Planet Key is finally painted gold.

:The shoulders are adorned with the four planet symbols of the Cyber Planet Keys, supposedly to represent Optimus Prime as the leader of all remaining Transformers.

:The 'Galaxy Force' addition to Optimus Prime's name is in reference to the journey the character takes at the end of the Cybertron cartoon series, as well as a reference to the Japanese version of the cartoon.
*Transformers Energon Figure pen (2004)

: The Transformers Energon figure pen is based on Optimus Prime in his standard Energon body. About the size of a scout class toy, he transforms from truck mode to robot mode almost identically to his mainline toys, apart from the fact that his feet contain the pen and cannot bend. It's really hard to write with, and almost impossible to pose, even though it has full arm articulation. Amusingly, this figure can position itself to transform into his super robot mode (by flipping his helmet on, opening his chest and flipping his hands in), but because there are no versions of the Prime Force drones in this scale, it's impossible to complete him.

:The pen was manufactured and distributed by Stylus.

: Grand Convoy is a miniature rendition of the normal-sized Optimus toy that comes unpainted and unassembled, and stands about 4.5 inches tall in full Super Mode. He transforms into a Cybertronic truck cab, and also comes with four drone-vehicles that can attach to his limbs to form a variety of Super Modes: Fire-1 (fire truck), Gyro-2 (helicopter), Digger-3 (drill tank), and Submarine-4 (er, submarine). The kit does not come with any form of carrier-trailer for the drones, however. Grand Convoy's handgun can actually fire small plastic BBs via pressure-launch. He also has a teeny little gold-chromed energon chip that fits onto his left shoulder-armor.

: This kit also comes with "Episode 1" of the "Convoy VS Scourge" mini-comic, printed on the back of the assembly/transformation instructions.

* The first test shots of Superbase Optimus Prime had a molded and recessed Autobot insignia on the chest button rather than a flat surface with a tampographed symbol. It is unknown why this change was made.
* One of the earliest Armada Optimus Prime concepts depicts him as being an ENORMOUSLY HUGE MONSTER TRUCK. Makes one wonder about the origins of the "Monster Convoy" inscription on Super Base Optimus Prime's tires.

* Cybertron Optimus Prime has some design similarities to GaoGaiGar from The King of Braves GaoGaiGar, such as the chin protrusion and cheekguards.
The universal greeting is used as a means to express good will toward alien beings when a language barrier is present. However, it does not always work that way.

It is commonly transliterated as Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep ni ni bong.

:Japanese greeting: Berwip crawna-wi pinibon

Fiction
Generation 1 continuity
Cartoon Continuity
The Allicons on Quintessa initially reacted well to the greeting, but when Hot Rod and Kup ran out of energon goodies, the Allicons began chanting it as they attacked the Autobots. However, the Junkions on the Planet of Junk took it rather well even without treats and threw a party, indicating that the Universal Greeting can be roughly translated into "We come in peace", "Take me to your leader", "Care to dance?", or whatever seems appropriate.

Strangely, humans had never heard of it before. Stranger yet, the rest of the galaxy is populated by robots. The Transformers: The Movie

Marvel UK comics
The universal greeting is understood by most creatures in the galaxy. It can be roughly translated to "hello, we mean you no harm," or "we come in peace," or "do you hate Dirtwad Decepticons as much as we do?"

Sticker Adventures
Kup successfully used the 'Universal Autobot Greeting' (and an Energon Stick) to make peace with the Junkions. Battle on the Junk Planet

IDW comics continuity
After Wheelie crash-landed on the planet LV-117, which is populated by a variety of giant monsters, he attempted to use the universal greeting on a chaosteros and lost an arm for his troubles. Spotlight: Wheelie

War for Cybertron
Ironhide used the universal greeting on a Space Slug, which ignored him and carried on. Transformers: War for Cybertron

Robots in Disguise cartoon
There exists a universal greeting dance, used to convince even the most implacable enemies of one's sincerity (presumably by convincing them that one is willing to humiliate oneself so thoroughly that one could not possibly harbor ill will). The Fish Test

Animated cartoon
The Universal Greeting has accompanying hand signals. The variants of these for five-digit species were demonstrated kindly by Wreck-Gar, who interpreted Lugnut raising his fist to deliver one of his famous punches as an invitation to perform the Universal Greeting, and reciprocated accordingly.

Stage 1:
Raise the left hand, palm outward to the person being addressed. Keep the thumb tucked to the side of the palm, pointing upward. Clench the index and pinky fingers as if making a fist and extend the middle and ring fingers vertically. The gesture should be made at the same time as speaking the "graaaaagnah" part of the verbal Universal Greeting.

Stage 2:
Extend the index, ring and pinky fingers. Curl the middle finger and thumb towards the palm of the hand so that they touch at right-angles, with the side of the thumb's tip pressed against the nail of the middle finger. This should be done in time with the verbalization "wheep".

Stage 3:
Clench the index, middle and ring fingers. Extend the thumb and pinky fingers so that the gesture resembles a horizontally-flipped 'L'. Shake the hand sideways twice, in time to the syllables of "ni ni"

Stage 4:
As the final "bong" is spoken, open your hand out so that all digits are extended and slightly splayed, as if to make a hand-print in clay. Pause momentarily and then press the thus-opened hand against that of the person you are addressing, who themselves should have a likewise open palm.

On NO ACCOUNT should the final part of the hand signals be performed if you are addressing the Decepticon Lugnut when his fist has transformed into a pressure-sensitive weapons trigger. Actually, it's probably best if you don't perform the Universal Greeting in any way before Lugnut, as any salutation short of "All hail Megatron" would be likely to incur his wrath.Garbage In, Garbage Out
But all the team finds is a metal dome of equally indeterminate design surrounded by the ruined bodies of Dr. Doom's robot underlings. The team breaks their way inside of the dome, but Luke and Logan's taking the initiative on the assault angers Captain America.

Inside, the tension between Captain America and Wolverine grows. In a hall of digital mirrors, the team members dodge lasers fired by an unknown audience member who scans their unique physical attributes. While Wolverine disables the dangerous room, Spider-Man is kidnapped by his old nemesis... a car! The three remaining avengers try to escape, but discover themselves locked inside an energy field. Captain America calls for reinforcements in the jerkiest manner he can.

Inside the poorly lit Autobot base, the Autobots conclude that Megatron is using an aggression wave to make all humans in the area irritable jerkfaces, they move out to assist before the humans can kill each other.

Inside of the dome-not-made-by-Doom, Megatron prepares to dissect the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Captain America, Wolverine, and Luke Cage greet their reinforcements—Falcon and Ms Marvel. The Autobots also arrive, to tell the five Avengers to leave and let the experts handle the situation, but as soon as the giant robots finish explaining themselves, Captain America orders his forces to attack.
* As far as the Avengers go, this issue doesn't take place when it was published (as Captain America hasn't been killed by the Red Skull yet). It takes place after the "Breakout" storyline and before "The Sentry".
* Sam Wilson's code name is given as "Falcon", but (almost) everywhere else in Marvel comics, he's "the Falcon", including the next issue.
* The Falcon wasn't active with the Avengers for most of the team's activities; however, the Avengers didn't have a rigidly defined roster.
* A similar aggression-wave was used by Shockwave in War and Peace.
* After Spider-Man is captured, it appears the energy barrier was keeping the Avengers trapped inside with the dome. But they meet up with Falcon fine, so either they were able to break through the dome or the art should have depicted the energy barrier keeping the Avengers locked out of the dome soon as they exited.
* In some copies of the issue, after the Autobots transform, Ratchet's name was labeled Prowl's while Prowl's was Ratchet's.

Detailed Synopsis
In Latveria, Captain American leads a team of Avengers sent by S.H.I.E.L.D. investigate the Latverian countryside to see why Doom is uncharacteristically attacking his neighboring countries with strange jets of indeterminate design. But all the team finds is a metal dome of equally indeterminate design surrounded by the ruined bodies of Dr. Doom's robot underlings. The team breaks their way inside of the dome, but Luke and Logan's taking the initiative on the assault angers the Cap.

Inside, the tension between Cap and Wolverine grows. In a hall of digital mirrors, the team members dodge lasers fired by an unknown audience member who scans their unique physical attributes. While Wolverine disables the dangerous room, Spidey is kidnapped by his old nemesis...

Captain America, Wolverine, and Luke Cage greet their reinforcements{{m-}Falcon and Ms Marvel. The Autobots also arrive, to tell the five Avengers to leave and let the experts handle the situation, but as soon as the giant robots finish explaining themselves, Captain America orders his forces to attack.
