Notes
*The show's premiere episodes, "Fractured" and "Memory," were both put up on Cartoon Network's mobile app and website several days before their U.S. television premiere. All subsequent episodes of the show were uploaded the day before they were aired on television, followed by a release on Hasbro's YouTube channel the day after, region-locked to United States users; following a weekend without any videos due to American Thanksgiving, the YouTube release moved to the next Sunday after airing starting with episode 13. Cartoon Network's app/website split each episode into two separate parts, each with a generic title card, and were numbered as such.
*While the first season was aired at a rate of one episode per week in the United States, in Canada, two episodes aired every week in a half-hour block. Consequently, "Megatron Is My Hero" through "Maccadam's" all premiered on Canadian television ahead of their US broadcasts. In fact, the entire rest of the first season was initially scheduled to debut in Canada over the following weeks, but it was all pulled and replaced with re-runs, presumably because someone US-side didn't like how far ahead they were getting! However, the show still couldn't catch a break, as the next two episodes premiered on the Xfinity X1 service more than two weeks before they aired on television, with the remaining Chapter One episodes each airing in Singapore at least a week ahead of their US broadcast.
:Sludge is an Autobot Dinobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

"Sludge dumb" is how Grimlock, the Dinobot commander himself, describes the plodding Autobot (also known as Slog). The Dinobots have a perhaps undeserved reputation for being dimwitted, but Sludge is the genuine article. He makes the other four look like scholars in comparison.

As Sludge can't make much of an impression in the mental department, he likes to make his presence known physically. He'll stomp his hefty hide around just so you know he's there.
None of the Dinobots really like Optimus Prime, but he and Slag share an especially intense dislike for him. Sludge believes that the strongest should lead, and in his mind, Grimlock is the strongest Autobot. But Sludge genuinely believes in the Autobot cause, so he tolerates Prime. Beyond that, Sludge is actually what you might call nice... Maybe not to Swoop's level, but nicer than the other guys.

Sludge was developed, along with his fellow Dinobots Slag and Grimlock, after the Autobots discovered dinosaur bones in their volcanic headquarters. Inspired by the power of the prehistoric beasts, Wheeljack and Ratchet built a trio of Dinobots to add firepower to the Autobot forces. The Dinobots proved too dangerous at first, and Optimus Prime ordered Wheeljack to abandon the Dinobot project. Wheeljack continued improving the trio of titans in secret, crafting memory components that made them smarter and easier to control. When the rest of the Autobots were captured by the Decepticons at the Great Falls hydroelectric power plant, Wheeljack dispatched the Dinobots to free their comrades and destroy the Decepticons. The Dinobots succeeded in forcing a Decepticon retreat and were welcomed as members of the Autobot team. S.O.S. Dinobots

Sludge's greatest weakness was his sheer stupidity. Megatron exploited the Dinobots' weaknesses to turn them against Optimus Prime, Sludge merely choosing to follow whichever leader was "strongest". When Optimus Prime risked his life to boldly save Grimlock, the Dinobots rejoined him. War of the Dinobots

Sludge and his fellow Dinobots were called upon to stop a colossal tidal wave, The Ultimate Doom, Part 2 and afterwards, he and Grimlock helped repair a city that was destroyed during the terror. Countdown to Extinction (episode)

The Dinobots were in the Ark to fight off the Constructicons who came for Teletraan I. Sludge didn't recognize the new Decepticons, but was still willing to pummel them. When the Constructicons merged into Devastator, Hound created a giant hologram that distracted the beast and gave the Dinobots an advantage, forcing Devastator into a crevice of lava. Heavy Metal War

During a game of football, Sludge was tackled by Hound. The other Autobots later went on a mission to stop Nergill and the Decepticons at Washington, D.C., and when in dire need of assistance, Wheeljack called in the Dinobots as reinforcements. When they arrived, Sludge was pleased to hear Grimlock's order to "transform and destroy", and his powerful feet created earthquakes. Later, Sludge and the rest of the Dinobots were deposited on Negill’s home base of Sub-Atlantica, with instructions to act prehistoric. The Dinobots subsequent destruction made Nergill decide to detonate the entire base rather than let the Autobots have it, and everyone was forced to flee the vanquished Sub-Atlantica. Atlantis, Arise!

Once again, when the Autobots were overwhelmed and needed good brute force, the Dinobots were called in. This time at Quantum Laboratories where the super computer, TORQ III, began remote controlling machines to go on the offensive. Sludge helped out with the destruction of trucks, stomping them like ants. Sludge's long neck gave Optimus Prime a boost so that he could rescue Paul Gates who was held captive in his office. Day of the Machines

After Wheeljack's attempt to show off the Dinobots' finesse was a failure, (Sludge stepped on Slag's tail, unleashing his flame-breath, and it only got worse from there) they were sent to Dinobot Island, a place where the Dinobots would be at home. Sludge didn't mind, because he thought that more room was a good thing for a big guy like him. On the island, he rescued Spike from a lake and had a rock fly in his face (courtesy of Snarl), but with the other four Dinobots, he was cornered by Megatron and fell over a cliff, plunging into a tar pit. Dinobot Island, Part 1 Luckily, Sludge survived, and the Dinobots got out of the pit and outnumbered the Decepticons who had arrived, forcing them to retreat. Sludge then helped release the island's energy return the flow of time to normal. Dinobot Island, Part 2

When Bumblebee saw Decepticons at a public airport and Optimus Prime's squad was unavailable, Wheeljack sent in the Dinobots. At the airport, Sludge rescued Bumblebee from the incoming Blitzwing, and helped overpower Megatron’s forces, but when he recklessly changed into robot modes with his comrades, Sludge was vanquished by the Decepticons' assault. Though the Autobot doctors did their best, Sludge was no longer interested in doing labour for Optimus Prime and quit with his fellow Dinobots. When the Autobots were incapacitated by the deterioration of cybertonium in their bodies, Spike and Carly pleaded with the Dinobots to help steal some of the critical component from the Decepticons.

Instead, the Dinobots used the Decepticon space bridge to go to Cybertron, Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1 where Sludge and the others were captured by Shockwave and reprogrammed into thinking that they obeyed the Decepticons. Shockwave stuck them down in the Cybertonium pits to mine more of the element. Luckily, they was rescued by Spike and Carly, and sent back to Earth with a healthy supply of cybertonium for the weakened Autobots. Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2

By the year 2005, The Auobots had been driven off Cybertron completely, but were formulating an assault from two of the planet’s moons. The Dinobots worked in the armament factories, until the Battle of Autobot City had them accompany Optimus Prime to earth. Sludge and the Dinobots were charged with destroying Devastator, but were overmatched. During the attack, Devastator struck Sludge so hard his optic sensors bulged out of his head. Fortunately, none of the Dinobots suffered any fatal damage as they were all present when Spike and Bumblebee contacted them from Moonbase Two about Unicron’s attack.

When Galvatron and his troops attacked the city, the Dinobots escaped with Kup and Hot Rod, only to have their spaceship shot down over Quintessa. The Dinobots managed to save the two Autobots from an army of Sharkticons with the help of Wheelie, and Sludge and Slag dispatched a Quintesson prosecutor—by standing on top of a door under which he'd been caught. They all escaped Quintessa and flew to Junkion, reuniting with their fellow Autobots. Later, Sludge was part of the Dinobot attack on Unicron and was able to tail-whip the butt of a god. Unicron wasn’t quite a sport about this and the Dinobots just barely escaped being grabbed by the planet eater. The Transformers: The Movie

Sludge and Snarl were later left to guard Cybertron when a seemingly resurrected Optimus Prime returned, saying that Hot Rod, Kup, Ultra Magnus, and Arcee had been killed by the Quintessons. When the aforementioned Autobots turned up on Cybertron alive, Arcee said that she was happy to see them, but Sludge was not happy, as he thought that meant he and Snarl were dead. Dark Awakening (episode)

When Grimlock detected dinosaur transform static at the crime scene where Fort Knox once stood, all the Dinobots (and Sky Lynx) were interrogated about the theft of the building. They were quickly cleared by Perceptor, though. Sludge and the other Dinobots later accompanied the Autobots in the liberation of Carbombya from the Decepticons. Thief in the Night

Sludge helped the Autobots mine isidrite on an asteroid. When the Decepticons arrived, Sludge kicked aside a ”Dumb Sweep” that Sky Lynx tossed his way, and later knocked Galvatron over before he could blast Ultra Magnus. Sludge escaped with the other Autobots aboard Sky Lynx. Webworld

Sludge was on hand to watch the activation of the Autobots’ new power generator. After Grimlock had suffered an accident which dramatically increased his intelligence, Sludge, along with Slag and Snarl, found their offer to fish with them rebuked. Grimlock explained the more important things he had to do, but Sludge really didn’t understand what he was talking about. Later, the Dinobots came looking for Grimlock who was working on a new spaceship. Grimlock remarked that they were just in time to assist him, but Sludge complained about the Dinobot leader’s new demeanor and the disapproving Dinobots left to go hunting without Grimlock. The Dinobots were much happier when Grimlock was returned to his normal self and they all went back to fishing together. Grimlock's New Brain

Sludge was present during a battle with the Decepticons on the Moon, and was among the Primitives who were summoned by Primacron's assistant. Travelling on board Trypticon, when Headstrong insulted Grimlock, Sludge, who didn't like the Predacons, suggested that they stomp them. Soon a scuffle broke out, until Trypticon shook everyone back into place. The Primitives kept their tempers in check for the rest of their journey, locating the assistant and learning their mission to fight Tornedron. When Tornedron arrived on the Oracle's planet, Sludge and the Dinobots were defeated during an attempted ambush on the creature, as were most of the other Primitives. However, everyone was restored to normal thanks to the actions of Grimlock. Call of the Primitives
When they found temporary safety inside a nebula, Kup relented and told them about the time he was in the Elite Guard and fought on Beta-Nine. ====Ask Vector Prime====
In one particularly strange iteration of the Unicron War, Sludge was among the Dinoobots when they evacuated Guardian City aboard a Command Center after Galvatron and his Renegade-Decepticon alliance attacked. Kup entertained the Dinobots with a few tall tales as they headed to Cybertron, but Galvatron attacked their ship, stranding them on Antares III.

The four Dinobots tried to search for the missing Kup and Hot Rod, but not even Swoop could locate their whereabouts. Instead, they encountered the RoGuns. After a misunderstanding, they formed an alliance and barged into the court of the Master Renegade just in time to save Kup and Hot Rod from execution. After stealing the Master Renegade's ship and dubbing it "Grungy", the group headed to Quartex. Kup met up with Boulder, and together they alliance rescued Major Mo's group of Autobots and Guardians from Magmar's evil Rock Lords. Sludge took part in the party that commemorated their alliance.

The Autobots, Guardians, Rock Lords, and RoGuns returned to Cybertron aboard the Grungy and a Rock Lord vessel, where they battled Unicron. ====Deviations====
In a timeline where Optimus Prime killed Megatron during their Autobot City duel, Sludge was on Optimus Prime's shuttle when the Autobots set off to reclaim Cybertron from the leaderless Decepticons. They were attacked en route by "Megascream": a reformatted Starscream now in the thrall of Unicron. They managed to escape after Megascream and his troops retreated, touching down on Quintessa to repair the damage.

On the watery surface of the planet, the Autobots encountered a group of Sharkticons. Kup's universal greeting ended poorly, so Optimus dispatched the Dinobots to take care of the threat. Optimus, Kup, and the Dinobots stormed into a Quintesson courtroom, where they rescued Kranix and learned more about the threat of Unicron. When repairs on the ship had completed, the group rescued Hot Rod, who was marooned on Junkion, and returned to Cybertron, where Optimus announced his intent to confront Unicron head-on.
Sludge and the other Dinobots live in an underground jungle environment, hidden beneath the Antarctic ice cap. He can fly. The Dinobots managed to fend off the Decepticons, and continued to Autobot headquarters.
Back at the Dinobots’ base, another Sludge, immersed in his tar cocoon, awaited activation to join the Autobot ranks. The trio then encountered a couple of Decepticon guards, but made short work of them. Once within Decepticon headquarters, they encountered Devastator. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to defeat the Decepticon gestalt, and were themselves taken prisoner. Some time later, Megatron took Sludge and the others out of their cell to show them that the Autobots had agreed to surrender; on the Decepticons' doorstep was left a statue of Devastator, with a note attached explaining that it was a peace offering. Sludge, along with the rest of Dinobots, was feeling disagreeable and bored while on lookout duty in Hidden Valley. Sludge absent-mindedly splashed Slag, causing the later to pick a fight with Sludge, which in turn caused the Dinobots to be distracted from the vigil long enough for the Decepticon Bombshell to sneak nearby and fire a mortar at the group. Sludge and most of the Dinobots were knocked down by the blast, and injected with mind-controlling cerebro-shells. Now Bombshell's mind-slave, Sludge was ordered to go about and wreak havoc.

If the only Dinobot to have escaped the cerebro-shells, Swoop decided to go warn Optimus of what has transgressed, Sludge went freely about the country side, destroying farmlands and endangering human lives. In order to stop the Dinobots, Optimus was presented with two options. The first was to use Windcharger's magnetic abilities to try and dislodge the cerebro-shells. This was a risky plan, and with the Dinobots approaching Bandit's Bluff, [[Mirage suggested they could alternatively use his own holographic powers to subdue the Dinobots. Going with the original plan involving Windcharger has an equal chance of either removing the cerebro-shells harmlessly, or pulling the Dinobots apart and destroying them. In the event that Windcharger manages to successfully extract the cerebro-shells without killing the Dinobots, the Autobots discover that what has transpired is only the beginning of a Decepticon plot. Optimus sends a squad of Autobots to Dolphin's Bay, prompting Sludge to volunteer himself for the underwater mission that is to come. If Optimus decides to send Sludge along, he arrives first on-location by accidently taking a shortcut. Finding himself waiting for Bumblebee and Skids, he decides to take a nap, and becomes indistinguishable from a rock, half-submerged in the water. Events can unfold so that the Autobots decide to trick the Decepticons into thinking the Dinobots are still under their control in order to rescue Bumblebee, who has been captured while Sludge slumbered. In this case, Swoop flies to Dolphin's Bay and quickly finds his fellow Dinobot. The plan is a success, and during the course of the battle that ensues, Starscream's gun is melted after Thrust's laser bounces off Sludge's tough hide and hits it. The Decepticons defeated, the Autobots party in celebration. If events unfold differently, Sludge rescues Skids after the mini-sub the later is piloting goes haywire. Thanks to Sludge's help, the Autobots successfully mount a direct attack against the Decepticons operating out of Dolphin's Bay, and win the day. If events play out differently still, Sludge rescues Bumblebee and defeats the Decepticons by himself by creating massive waves in the Bay, using the great size of his dinosaur mode.

If Optimus decided to use Mirage's abilities to subdue the Dinobots, Sludge is the first to see Optimus's false-image made to fool the Dinobots into tumbling into the ocean. The Dinobots fall for the Autobots' ruse, and the cerebro-shells are then removed safely at the Autbots' base.

Optimus may also opt to go for a full-frontal assault to stop the Dinobots' rampage. If he does so, Sludge's cerebro-shell is the second to be dislodged in the midst of the ensuing battle. Though disgruntled, the Dinobots return to their usual selves once the mind-control devices are destroyed.

In the event that Swoop manages to overpower Bombshell early on and prevent the Dinobots from going on a rampage at all, Sludge may resumes his fight with Slag, leading Swoop to get bumped on the head and forget all of the events that had just transpired. Even if Swoop retains his memory, Sludge remains oblivious to being mind-controlled at all. Dinobots Strike Back
Autobot Alert!
Sludge was present at the Autobot city of Metroplex when an Autobot Alert sounded.

He and the other Autobots learned of two Decepticon plots simultaneously occurring. One of which was the theft of a coded message meant for Ultra Magnus’s eyes only. If Ultra Magnus decided to prioritize theft of the coded message, Sludge was part of the captive audience that listened to Kup divulge information about an ancient Autobot formula. Sludge took off towards the Autobots’ desert research centre along with a number of other Autobots. Once there, they learned from Springer that the Cybertite sphere containing the formula was discovered by humans during the 16th century. If the Decepticons had decoded Springer's message, they would be searching off the coast of California, where the ship containing the sphere had sunk. If they hadn’t decoded the message, the Decepticons would still be digging in the nearby crater.

If Ultra Magnus decided to assume that the Decepticons had already decrypted the message, he ordered his forces to split up to more efficiently address the situation. Sludge was part of the main group of Autobot forces led by Ultra Magnus towards the California coast. Arriving at the scene, Ultra Magnus’s troops were informed by Powerglide (who had flown ahead of the land-bound group) that he had discovered the location of the sunken ship containing the cybertite sphere. Simultaneously, Blurr caught up with the group to inform them that the Decepticons were quickly approaching. The Autobots then needed to decide whether they would raise the ship themselves, or try and ambush the Decepticons after they had done so.

Ultra Magnus came up with three separate possible plans, one of which required Sludge to use his powerful dinosaur mode to retrieve the sunken ship, and haul it out of the water. Hot Rod would then retrieve the sphere within. Though Sludge had difficulty following the orders barked to him by Ultra Magnus, he and Hot Rod eventually managed to retrieve the sphere. The Autobots’ celebration was cut short by the arrival of the Decepticons. Quickly hiding themselves, the Autobots ambushed their enemies, and successfully shot them all out of the sky. Autobot Alert!
Dreamwave Generation One continuity
After Optimus Prime and Megatron disappeared into a prototype space-bridge and were presumed dead, Sludge became part of Grimlock's Lightning Strike Coalition, a sub-faction that arose as the Autobots splintered into smaller groups. Together, they would run amok disrupting the Decepticons' activities. On one of their missions, they managed to swipe a plenty of energon from Starscream's Predacons. Fragmentation (G1) Later he and his fellow Dynobots (minus Grimlock who was busy tracking down Jetfire for treason) aided Prowl's group deal with Trypticon, though the fight went unfinished when Trypticon simply left to respond to other orders. Revelation (The Dark Ages) When Sludge's group went to meet up with Grimlock they found him missing. Confrontation (issue) On finding that their leader had been captured by The Fallen, the Dynobots joined forces with good ol' one eye to rescue him. The Fallen was ultimately done in by the power of Primus himself, and the Dynobots were reunited with their leader. Conflagration

Afterwards, Ultra Magnus managed to unite the Autobots once more, and under his leadership gained a significant hold over Cybertron's resources and territories. This eventually forced the Ultracons and Shockwave's Decepticons to sign a peace treaty with the Autobots. Sludge and the other Dynobots were posted as perimeter guards during the peace talks, in anticipation for any attacks that might come their way. Sure enough, Starscream and his Predacons struck by sending in a pair of shuttles filled with neutronium plasma to crash into Tyger Pax, where the treaty was being signed. Sludge and his teammates were unable to halt the shuttles, ending any hope of an easy truce. The dramatic return of Megatron with his cloned Aerospace Extermination Squadron ended any ideas of truce at all. The Age of Wrath

Later, Sludge went to Earth along with the other Dynobots to go crush some bugs and eventually wound up under Megatron's control. Extermination They were used to blackmail Grimlock to serve the Decepticons once again; however, Megatron's defeat allowed them to be freed by their mighty leader Brothers' Burden and taken to Cybertron (in a stolen Decepticon vessel no less) where they did what they did best, causing massive destruction against Shockwave's totalitarian regime by rampaging about. Cold War (issue) Though the Dinobots made much headway towards Shockwave's Tower, their progress was halted by the newly reawakened Omega Sentinels. One of these titans blasted the Dinobots, leading to some 'rest time' for Sludge and the others. Passive Aggression Later, once Shockwave's government had been overthrown, Sludge was among the Autobots assembled by Ultra Magnus to help fortify Cybertron's planetary defenses. They were eventually brought back to present day Cybertron by a group of [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. :*First Appearance: Spotlight: Shockwave
Before the war, Sludge and the other Dynobots were a Primal Vanguard counter-terrorism unit. During a mission to the caverns of the Toraxxis Plains, they discovered cyber-morphic predators, subterranean creatures that attacked and nearly killed them, forcing them to hastily take on alt-modes based on the monsters themselves to escape alive. Already grieving over the death of their comrade Skar, the Dynobots snapped and deserted from the Vanguard when their superiors cold-heartedly locked them up to study their alt-modes. Underworld (IDW) On the run from the law, Sludge and his pals began fighting in underground gladiator battles, and was one of many bots to come from distant regions of Cybertron to attend Megatron's speeches and demonstrations of power as the Decepticon faction begun to take shape. Megatron Origin issue 3 Sludge and the Dynobots were in the Ring of Trials in Ironfall when they witnessed Optimus Prime's rallying call for additional support against the Decepticon tyranny. Broadcast They responded to the call and joined the Autobots in the following battle for control of Cybertron, during which they took out a lot of tanks. Endgame

The Dynobots' time as part of the Autobots was short, as they were now losing control of their unnatural alt-modes and becoming increasingly violent as a result. Fearing they might turn into monsters for good and endanger people around them, they stopped transforming and turned to a life of crime looking to earn the money needed to leave Cybertron. Derelicts During a heist on the Toraxxis mega-refinery, Swoop air-dropped Sludge onto the facility, using him as a wrecking ball to break through its permacrete walls. Wreckage (issue) The Dynobots' energon theft was interrupted by Scorponok's forces, having come to conquer the facility for the Decepticons, forcing them to trigger the alarm and escape. Faces of Darkness After the refinery was destroyed in the chaos, Sludge and the others agreed to turn themselves over to the Autobots in hopes that they could help. Prey (issue)

Sludge's trip to Autobot HQ was sidetracked when a riot broke out at Starsreach Spaceport, and the Dynobots arrived there just in time to be caught in Decepticon attack that caused Grimlock to lose control and transform into his berserking monster form. Massacre While Grimlock's display repelled the Decepticons, it only made Sludge and the other Dynobots lose any hope they had for redemption, and they left Cybertron on one of the spaceport's shuttles. Unleashed They had a change of heart upon learning that the ancient beast Trypticon had awakened, and returned home to help fight its minions, the very same cyber-morphic predators from earlier. Annihilation After Grimlock was able to take down Trypticon from the inside, the Dynobots rejoined Optimus Prime in hopes that Autobot scientists could cure them. Belly of the Beast (issue) Through cleansing of their energon and restoration of their original altmodes, the Dynobots were indeed cured of their rage in time to participate in the defense of Iacon against a major Decepticon attack. Primacy issue 4
Over ten thousand years ago, the Dynobots followed Grimlock to revenge themselves against Shockwave, who had blown up a cache of energon they had stolen. When Shockwave traveled to Earth, the Dynobots pursued him and reformatted themselves to transform into robotic dinosaurs with a synthetic skin as a defense against energon overload. Sadly, it did not protect the Dynobots from Shockwave's energy blasts, which melted the artificial skin and caused the Dynobots to go into stasis lock due to excessive energon radiation. Due to a deadman's switch, the Dynobots' ship blasted a volcano that buried everyone in molten lava. Spotlight: Shockwave

Thousands of years later, the Dynobots were eventually excavated by Skywatch, Escalation issue 5 and though Grimlock was the first to be brought back online, he was freed from Skywatch's control through a virus implanted by a Machination spy (under orders from Scorponok). Scorponok wanted Grimlock to join him, but Grimlock refused, fought Scorponok and escaped, vowing to find and rescue Sludge and the other Dynobots. Scorponok, however, planned to take control of the Dynobots himself and use them to assassinate Grimlock. Spotlight: Grimlock

Along with the other Dinobots, Sludge walked away after Swoop read Grimlock the riot act. When Grimlock was attacked and almost destroyed by the Sunstreaker clones, however, the team reunited once again for battle. Although fighting valiantly, they might have been destroyed, if not for the intervention of the Monsterbots, who were earlier contacted by Grimlock. Maximum Dinobots issue 3

Aboard the Monsterbots' ship, Sludge and the others wonder why Grimlock would side with the outcasts. They gave Grimlock a stern look when he exited the cockpit. The Dynobots didn't see the point of fighting Scorponok, but Grimlock said that Scorponok made it their fight when he turned the Dynobots against him. Snarl disagreed, saying that it has always been Grimlock's fight, that he and the other Dynobots went along with him, and that it was now Grimlock's wounded pride at stake. After the Monsterbots blasted away the defenses, Grimlock exited the ship, saying that there was no way he could let this go, and that with or without the Dynobots, there would be a reckoning for Scorponok. The Dynobots decided that arguing is pointless and followed Grimlock. When Hunter O'Nion pulled the cords from Sunstreaker's head, shutting him down, the clones ceased to function. Sludge cried out in victory, but the moment was short-lived as Scorponok blasted Sludge into stasis. Maximum Dinobots issue 4
Grimlock stared down at Sludge's dead body, brooding about how it was his fault Sludge was dead... while a battle between Scorponok and Shockwave (for rights of revenge upon Grimlock) raged on around him. Eventually Snarl, Slag, and Swoop decide to get to the Monsterbots' ship while the getting was good, but Grimlock stayed behind with Sludge. Grimlock tried infusing some of his spark energy into Sludge to revive him, but it seemed to have no effect. Shockwave got the upper hand and let Scorponok escape, and in frustration, Grimlock attacked Shockwave. Grimlock and Shockwave were too busy fighting to notice the return of Slag, Snarl, and Swoop, who reasoned that, while helping Grimlock might not be much of a cause, it still beat being no better than the Monsterbots. They were noticed by Sludge, however, who seemed to have recovered due to Grimlock's treatment after all. The four of them dove into the fray proper, but Grimlock ordered them to go after Scorponok instead. When Hot Rod was about to get squished by Scorponok, the remaining Dynobots showed up in just the nick of time. At Hot Rod's urgings, Swoop severed the connections keeping Scorponok's head conscious. But before the Dynobots could kill the rest of Scorponok, Ultra Magnus showed up and told them that Scorponok would be revived and made to answer to a tribunal instead. He then said they should purge the entire Machination facility, gather up all related Machination technology, and get as far away from Earth as possible as soon as possible—a plan that the Dynobots, Hot Rod, and Hunter were all perfectly OK with. Ultra Magnus later told Grimlock that having Scorponok and Shockwave in custody could help offset Grimlock's own sentence, and that the other Dynobots' warrants had been canceled, and Grimlock was content with that and the fact that Sludge was alive again thanks to him. Sludge and the others meanwhile happily repaired the Skyfire. Maximum Dinobots issue 5
Traveling into the untamed wilderness on Sky Lynx, they made short work of a ferocious turbofox before discovering signs of Transformer weaponry and deciding to set up camp for the night. That night, Sludge was attacked and decapitated by an unknown foe as he rested in dinosaur mode on the roof of their hastily constructed hut. Dinobot Hunt (IDW) Since the dinosaur mode head wasn't his true head, he was fine, which he had to correct not only Ironhide but Swoop about. When Grimlock went missing, Swoop and Sludge paid a visit to the planet Junk, but were unable to find him there. Wreckage (Legends) They and the rest of the Lightning Strike Coalition tracked down Grimlock to the Sea of Rust, where they were captured by Shockwave who experimented on them and gave them dinosaur alternate modes. They repaid him by trashing his lab. Rescue the King

Following the disappearance of Grimlock and Swoop, Sludge and the other remaining Dinobots refused to obey Autobot orders and set out for the Decepticon base, attacking Optimus when he tried to stop them. Having dealt with Optimus, the Dinobots continued towards the Decepticon base until the Autobots managed to overwhelm and imprison them. Day of the Dinobots - Part 1 The trio were released during a night raid by Grimlock and Swoop. The five Dinobots marched on the Decepticon base, but were defeated by Shockwave, Ramjet, and Ratbat. Day of the Dinobots - Part 2

The Dinobots supported Grimlock when their leader decided to take control of the Autobot army, and took part in an attack on the Decepticons, capturing Megatron and Shockwave. Me, Grimlock, King

When Optimus fell in battle during a massive Decepticon attack on Autobot City and Grimlock took command, Sludge and the other Dinobots joined him in crushing the Decepticon forces. S.O.S. Dinobots (Legends)
Despite his plodding, lumbering gait and bulldozer-like approach to anything in his way, Sludge is a gentle and even shy 'bot at heart. But conscious of his bellicose fellow Dinobots, and wary of their scorn, he keeps his sensitive side hidden. Sludge's seismic footfalls have been known to cause inadvertent landslides, which sometimes bury Sludge and anyone nearby, making others dismiss him as clumsy and accident prone.

Sludge was practicing his walking when he stumbled into Polyhex. Straxus had his eyes on him, and sent the Insecticons to ambush him. Transformers: Earth Wars/Events He shrugged off the stings of the Insecticons and swatted away a cerebro-shell, but another one drilled into his head. Transformers: Earth Wars/Events With Sludge under Bombshell's control, he was transported to Earth. Starscream then presented him as a gift to Megatron, which actually impressed him. Transformers: Earth Wars/Events The Decepticons then headed to an abandoned spaceport where they had set up for a Moonbase operation, and lured the Dinobots there. Under the command "Crush Dinobots", Sludge battled his fellow Dinobots and overpowered them. As Megatron was preparing for the finishing kill, Sludge, according to Starscream's command, pushed him down an empty rocket silo. He then fell unconscious, and Drift, who was observing the course of events, called for an emergency shuttle extraction. Transformers: Earth Wars/Events

Back the base, Bumblebee was going to fetch Ratchet, but Grimlock insisted that they would take care of him. It didn't help when Sludge heard that Slug was going to fetch a drill to fix his head.
*Sludge (Dinobot, 1985/1986/1991/1992)
**Japanese ID number: 27
**Accessories: "Energo-Sword", "Electron Cannon", "Rocket Pod", 3 rockets

:Sludge was released as part of the second series of Transformers in 1985, transforming into a robotic Brontosaurus. He has a trio of silver rockets, a rocket launcher, a black gun, and a red sword. Like most Diaclone-era molds, Sludge also has a conspicuous driver compartment located in his chest.

:Sludge was re-released in the European "Classics" line in 1991. In Japan, he and the other Dinobots were offered as mail-away items during Operation Combination; Sludge cost 2300 yen (his original retail price) and two Robot Points.

:In stark contrast to most Transformers toys of his era, Sludge is fairly well articulated in robot mode. He has a waist swivel, his legs move in and out at the hips as well as back and forth, and he has articulated knees. He also has articulated elbows and wrists, although they can only bend inward. Still, impressive for his time. He can totally facepalm.

:Part of the Platinum Edition Dinobots 5-pack, Slog is another slight G1-inspired redeco/new-head retool of Age of Extinction Voyager Class Slog. While the deco is pretty much the same as the Thrilling 30 figure, this Slog doesn't feature chromed side thighs.

:Slog was bundled with Grimlock, Slug, Snarl, and Strafe.

: This set was initially released as a Toys"R"Us exclusive in Canada in October 2015, followed by Singapore a month later (although it's currently unknown whether it was exclusive to any particular store there or not). Much later, it became available via the Australian Toys"R"Us website (but never found in stores). In the United States, it was initally only available online via Amazon and BigBadToyStore before being found at discount chain Ross a year after its intial release in Canada.
*Dinobot Sludge (Deluxe, 2018)
**Japanese ID number: PP-14
**Japanese release date: 2018-06-30
**Accessories: Blaster, Prime Armor/combiner hand, Prime Master gap filler/gun
:Power of the Primes "Dinobot Sludge" (he got his name back!) is a heavy retool of Dinobot Slug (unlike Slug, Sludge gets to keep the robot mode wings from his original design) and transforms into a robotic Brontosaurus, as well as a limb for Volcanicus or any Combiner Wars-style combiner (or into one of Legends Godbomber's legs). Like the other Dinobots in this subline, Sludge is partially composed of translucent plastic with gold paint on the inside, to give him a 'layered' look reminiscent of his original toy. This includes the hind legs of his Dino Mode, which unlike Slug's are single-cast translucent pieces. As with all Power of the Primes Deluxe Class figures, he comes with Prime Armor with a place for a Prime Master, Enigma, or Matrix core that can transform into a hand for a combiner. The filler piece in the Armor's "Master socket" can be removed and wielded as a weapon accessory. He also comes packaged with the same blaster weapon packaged with Slug.

:For whatever reason, Sludge is absolutely riddled with 5 mm holes; between his robot and dino modes, he has a whopping total of 13 ports (15 if you want to count the two used for his arm and leg modes), meaning he has the most ports of any of the POTP Deluxes and Voyagers by far.

:Sludge unfortunately suffers from the same combiner peghole issue as Slug, being very thinly molded and easily broken. Extreme caution should be taken when plugging anything into it or manipulating what may have already been inserted. Should the plastic snap, its tension will be severely reduced and may lead to the combiner hands or feet falling out. In some cases, it may simply not be possible to avoid breaking the peghole aside from not using it. Also like Slug however, the peghole on the bottom of his foot used for combiner hands is considerably thicker and less prone to breakage.

:In China, he was also released along with the other 4 Dinobots as a gift-set, exclusive to Hasbro China's TianMao site.
His body tampographs are heavily toy-based.

: He was only available as part of the San Diego Comic-Con-exclusive "Kreon Class of '85" 30-Kreon set. This set was also sold online through Hasbro Toy Shop after the show.
Notes
*Sludge was originally a Diaclone "Dinosaur Robo Brontosaurus". The only differences between this incarnation and the Transformers release is that the Diaclone version has a gold-chromed sword, as well as coming with a red-and-black Diaclone pilot figure.
*Sludge went through several preliminary names, including Brontobot, Piledrive, and Bronton.
*Sludge's alt mode was originally identified as a Brontosaurus (a sauropod dinosaur), more recent depictions (such as the IDW continuity) have updated this to Apatosaurus, as the two were long considered to be the same animal. Recently, Brontosaurus has been rehabilitated as a proper genus of animal. Hooray, Sludge!
*The overall design and transformation sequence of the original Sludge toy served as the basis for Thunder Geist, one of four recurring villainous henchmen on the Takara/Sunrise co-production Brave Exkaiser. In what might be called a vision of things to come, the four "Geisters" were once briefly fused into a single robot called "Mad Geister" (マッドガイスター Maddogaisutā). However, because each Geister controlled a portion of the combined body—and, aside from Ptera Geist, they had the accumulated brain power of a Froot Loop—this ended rather badly. In a more successful (if not also prescient) later development, the Geisters learned to merge in groups of two, with Thunder Geist forming the lower body of "Pteder" (プテダー Putedā).
*Swoop and Sludge's absence from the Generation 2 toyline has never been fully explained, though rumors of what might have been persist. In the late 2000s, packaging art of both in new colors was put up for auction on eBay — seemingly from the collection of a former Hasbro employee — indicating what he might have looked like in the line. This art surfaced alongside a screaming yellow-orange and turquoise Grimlock, so it is possible that the three were at one time planned for a second wave of Dinobots.
:Frenzy is a Decepticon Mini-Cassette from the Generation 1 continuity family.

For Frenzy it's not about any "Decepticon cause": it's not about any quantifiable cause, or goal, or purpose at all. It's about violence, fear, destruction, and mayhem. Frenzy lives to fight. He lusts to destroy with an intensity that borders on insanity. War is his fuel, his oxygen. Despite his small stature he'll lead a charge into battle against robots many times his size, screaming for destruction with every microchip of his being. This single-minded obsession makes him a hard bot to associate with personally, but a frightening asset on the battlefield. His partner and brother, Rumble, is only too eager to back him up.

Frenzy's manic attack style and his "battle cry" (a sonic attack produced by special drums in his torso that can severely disrupt electrical flows, resulting in all sorts of mechanical malfunctions and balance issues) make him difficult to get close to in combat, but cool and measured reaction to his wild ragings is usually the most effective strategy.

Frenzy was among the Decepticons who attacked the Autobots' Ark four million years ago, and wound up trapped in stasis when the vessel crashed on Earth. The Transformers (issue) Cold Comfort and Joy! When the Transformers were reactivated as a consequences of a volcanic eruption in 1984, Frenzy declared that he would not rest until every Autobot had been destroyed, and departed the ship with his comrades. The Transformers (issue) The Decepticons soon attacked the Harrison Nuclear Power Plant to obtain the resources to build a fortress for themselves; Frenzy used his sonic powers to scramble distress calls by the plant personnel, ensuring the success of the Decepticons' mission. Power Play!

When the Decepticons kidnapped the Autobots' human friend Sparkplug Witwicky to devise a method of converting Earth fuel into a form suitable for them, the Autobots staged a rescue attempt. Frenzy and his brother Rumble met Sparkplug's would-be rescuers on the battlefield, and when his sibling fell to Brawn, Frenzy angrily turned his sonics on the tough little Autobot. Frenzy picked up his unconscious brother and took him back to the Decepticons' fortress for repair, but was tripped up along the way by a strand of webbing courtesy of Spider-Man, taking both brothers out of the fight. Prisoner of War!

Frenzy participated in the Decepticons' attack on Sherman Dam. Decepticon Dam-Busters! Later, when a failed coup by Starscream resulted in a trial by combat between him and Brawn, Frenzy was among the spectators of the battle. Ravage sabotaged the battle, shooting Starscream down, then told Frenzy it was the Autobots' doing, driving the little 'bot into a rage. He called for the Decepticons to strike back at the Autobots, and Megatron—who had staged the whole thing to bring exactly this situation about—agreed. The Enemy Within! The Decepticons proceeded to attack the Ark, during which battle Frenzy clashed with Gears, but they were soon stopped by the Ark's out-of-control artificial intelligence, Aunty. Raiders of the Last Ark

Rendered inoperative by his recent injuries, Frenzy was unable to participate in the Decepticons' subsequent major offensive against the Autobots. The Last Stand He was repaired after Shockwave took control of the Decepticons, and was assigned guard duty of the captured Ark alongside his brother. The New Order They briefly departed to help secure the seized Blackrock oil-drilling platform, but returned to the Ark to swear fealty to Shockwave after he put down an attempt by Megatron to retake power. The Worse of Two Evils! He then relocated to the Decepticons' latest captured facility, Blackrock Aerospace Assembly Plant Number One, where, after a few days of inactivity left him with a shorter temper than usual, Frenzy's anger boiled over when he overheard on the news that G.B. Blackrock had designed a new "Anti-Robot Photonic Multi-Cannon" to take back his plant. Shockwave had Buzzsaw quash Frenzy's his temper tantrum, after which Starscream stepped in and suggested a day out for mayhem and carnage would be good for troop morale. Together, Starscream and Frenzy staged an attack on the unveiling of Blackrock's new weapon, with Frenzy's sonic powers sowing havoc among the crowd. Autobots Jazz and Wheeljack, along with neophyte superhuman Circuit Breaker, counterattacked; struck by Wheeljack's magnetic inducer, Frenzy was crushed beneath a barrage of magnetically-attracted objects, and Starscream retreated, carrying him away. DIS-Integrated Circuits! Christmas Breaker! He was in working order again in time for the Decepticons' next major battle with the assembled Autobots, when they had managed to take control of Optimus's body with a fake head. However, most of the 'cons were taken out single-handedly by Optimus Prime once his real head was reattached. Prime Time! Meanwhile, separated from the other Decepticons and lacking his higher brain functions, Megatron told the human Joey Slick the story of how his troops, including Frenzy, came to Earth. Shooting Star!

Either Frenzy or Rumble participated in a petty attack on a human settlement. The Decepticons' personality were strangely inverted upon being hit by an energy blast, and they all became big softies, apologizing profusely as they cleaned up the mess they had made. Once the blast's effects wore off, the Decepticons swore revenge for what they assumed to be an Autobot trick, and tracked the blast's origin to England. Though Starscream found the device responsible, a human invention called the "PARD," it was destroyed before he could take off with it. To a Power Unknown!

When the Decepticons lured Bumblebee into a trap, Frenzy was among those who ambushed and captured him. Crisis of Command! Later, he was ordered to accompany Shockwave to the Decepticon's old fortress, where despite a supposed mission objective of "salvage", Frenzy could clearly see that Shockwave was on edge because of Megatron's rumored return. Eager to hit something to relieve his stress, Frenzy was soon given a chance when Buster Witwicky, sporting a robotic battlesuit, appeared on the scene, also looking for someone to beat up in order to prove his worth. Though shot in the back by the human, Frenzy easily shrugged off Buster's onboard weaponry, and in a blazing fury, unleashed the full force of his sonic powers on the human. Thinking he was shutting down his audio input, Buster actually activated an echo cell in his battlesuit that cancelled out and reflected Frenzy's sonic onslaught back at him, knocking him out. Robot Buster!

On a subsequent mission, Frenzy accompanied Megatron and several others in an attack on the unguarded Ark. Unfortunately, they ran into the Autobots' new defense system, Omega Supreme, who blasted Frenzy and several others into inactivity. Taken captive by the Autobots, his deactivated body was stored in a stasis capsule within the Ark. Command Performances! Frenzy did not remain a prisoner for long, however. When the Autobots were thrown into disarray by the arrival of the future Decepticon Galvatron, they overlooked the mechanical failure of the capsule holding Starscream, who escaped and set Frenzy and Thundercracker's capsules to awaken them before sneaking off to further his own agenda. Regaining consciousness, the confused pair immediately vacated the Ark and return to the Decepticons' Wyoming base, which they found to be deserted, save for Shockwave. No sooner had they updated their leader on their situation than all three Decepticons were shunted into the other-dimensional world of limbo by the arrival of the future Autobots Hot Rod, Kup and Blurr. Target: 2006

In this other world, the three Decepticons found themselves in the middle of a war between the technorganic ape-like Cloran and the evil Zenag, which Optimus Prime, Prowl and Ratchet had already become embroiled in. Frenzy killed several of the creatures with his sonic powers, earning a sock on the jaw from Prime; subsequently, when Zenag offered the Decepticons the means to return home in exchange for fighting the Autobots for him, Frenzy was once again laid out by the Autobot leader. When Prime refused to fight any further, the truth of their situation became apparent: the entire world was actually an illusion created by the neural parasites that dwelled in the void of limbo. As the illusion collapsed, a horrified and furious Frenzy tore the parasite that had seized him from his head and was about to reduce it to paste before Shockwave stopped him, wary that his actions might trigger a response. Distant Thunder! In short order, Frenzy and the others were all returned to their world when the time-travellers went back to the future.

When Megatron went missing after a failed assassination attempted mastermined by Shockwave, Frenzy was minding his own business when suddenly, in a flash of light, Megatron appeared in front of him, having teleported in across the space bridge. Distressed he called for Shockwave, but nobody suffered any repercussions, as the trip had addled Megatron's memories. Resurrection!

When the Autobots launched an attack on the Decepticons' island headquarters to rescue a recently captured Buster Witwicky, Shockwave converted the landmass into its rocket-ship mode and had it blast off into space. Frenzy was standing at the ready, within the ship's control room, as this took place. The Desert Island of Space!

Like most Decepticons, Frenzy fell under Bludgeon's command following the restoration of Cybertron, disappearing into deep space for a period of time. When Megatron returned to depose Bludgeon and retake leadership, Frenzy and Rumble immediately fell into place at his side, and went to work reviving and rebuilding Darkwing, who had not followed the brothers' example and had been all but destroyed by Megatron as a result. The Gathering Darkness Upon Optimus's arrival on the battlefield, Frenzy descended to the Earth's surface. He witnessed Megatron defeat Optimus Prime and use a siphon to drain off the power of the Matrix. Autobot reinforcements arrived before Megatron could finish off his adversary, and the Decepticons retreated rather than lose their means of bringing a new army of Decepticons to life. The Gathering Darkness When word of the Cybertronian Empire reached the Decepticons, Frenzy was among Megatron's forces who urged a violent response towards their "descendants." Much to his distress however, Jhiaxus's managed to strike first against them. Frenzy was manning the bridge of the Decepticons' Warworld with Rumble and Soundwave when Jhiaxus's Cybertronian forces attacked it. Unable to mount a counterattack thanks to the combat sequencers having been disabled (courtesy of a treacherous Starscream), Total War! Frenzy was among the personnel who fled in an escape pod to the Earth below, where presently, he joined in the combined Autobot/Decepticon offensive against the Swarm. In final combat, Wheeljack cooked up a way to supercharge Frenzy's sonic powers to fend off their attacker, but as the Autobot scientist feared, the raw sonic energy proved too much for Frenzy's body to handle. Frenzy died with a smile on his face, reveling in the orgasmic excess of sound he was pumping out even as it overloaded his systems and destroyed him. A Rage in Heaven!
Frenzy sounded almost exactly like his bro Rumble, and even used a pair of earthquake-creating piledrivers like his, instead of the sonic powers that were his trademark in other universes. Frenzy first appeared amongst the Decepticons on Earth shortly after Cybertron was pulled into Earth's orbit, performing some repair work on the Decepticons' base following the damage it had suffered during the chaos. Voicing his discontent with the workload, he demanded Skywarp's job instead, prompting the Seeker to stomp on him. Frenzy seized Skywarp's descending foot and threw him into a wall, whereupon Rumble came to his bro's aid and started pummelling Skywarp in the face. Countdown to Extinction (episode)

Frenzy and Rumble were part of Megatron's attack on New York City, where they faced off against a group of Autobots in Central Park, toppling Ironhide with their piledrivers. Frenzy later tried to ram a train into Bluestreak and Hound, but his vehicle was blown apart before he reached them. City of Steel (episode) Later, the two siblings helped Megatron take control of a fleet of oil tankers by using circuit linker cards connected to TORQ III. Frenzy was then assigned to defend the force field generator around the oil platform where the Decepticons were emptying the tankers, but failed in this task when he was distracted by Spike and Skyfire, letting Hound sneak up and destroy the generator. Day of the Machines [[File:AutoBerzerk Frenzy warning.jpg|thumb|225px|Wait Soundwave, it's not what it looks like! Dismantling the Autobots' communications equipment by hand, the brothers and their comrades then broke into his broadcasting tower and swarmed him and Perceptor. They were repulsed when Blaster unleashed his Mini-Cassettes to even the score, and Frenzy got into a fistfight with Eject.

After Megatron was defeated, the Decepticons fled Earth aboard Astrotrain and Starscream tossed their injured commander into space, a fight for control of the army broke out. When Soundwave and the Constructicons got into an insult-slinging match, Frenzy and Rumble popped out of their boss to defend his honor, and shook the Constructicons apart with their piledrivers just as they were attempting to form Devastator. The Transformers: The Movie
In the late 1990s, Starscream forged a clandestine alliance with the Prime Minister of Japan, promising that the country would be safe from attack by the Decepticons if they were allowed to freely and harmlessly collect energy within its borders, in secret from the rest of the world. Naturally, however, Starscream had no intention of actually honoring this agreement, and sent Frenzy and Rumble to the bottom of the sub-oceanic Japan Trench, where they used their piledrivers to stimulate the tectonic plates of the trench and cause small earthquakes throughout Japan. As Starscream predicted, the quakes supplied massive amounts of energy for the Decepticons to gather, but were perceived as natural occurrences by the populace. Megatron was not impressed by the scheme, however, suspecting the Autobots would soon realize the truth... and he was, of course, completely right. When Optimus Prime and a team of Autobots arrived to investigate and caught the Decepticons in the act, Megatron had Frenzy and Rumble kick things into overdrive, causing a catastrophic quake that devastated Tokyo and covered the Decepticons' escape. The quake was so powerful that it actually threatened to sink the entire island of Japan, but before that could come to pass, Hound confronted Frenzy and Rumble and overpowered them by confusing them with his holograms. Activation
Dinobots Strike Back
In one path, Frenzy was one of many Decepticons in their secret base in Mount Lomas, listening to Megatron's speech about how the black coral in nearby Dolphin's Bay would produce enough superfuel to triple their war-making capacity and crush the Autobots in just a few hours. As the speech wrapped up, Soundwave intercepted a radio transmission containing details on Operation Black Coral which Megatron just mentioned, and took Frenzy with him to investigate. They rushed through a nearby doorway to find Bumblebee, whom Frenzy promptly paralyzed with a sonic attack and just left in the underwater tunnel as a rusty warning to anyone else who might stumble across their secret base.

If Skids tried to radio Bumblebee from his mini-sub afterwards, Frenzy nailed it with a long range sonic attack as well, sending it out of control. In one possible subsequent path, Sludge churned up the water near where Bumblebee disappeared to bring him to the surface, then deposited the still-paralyzed Autobot on the opposite shore of the bay. He then resumed stomping to create a tidal wave that collapsed the side of the mountain, washing away many Decepticons including Frenzy, which immediately cured Bumblebee of his paralysis.

In an alternate path, the Decepticons foolishly invited four of the Dinobots to a premature mountaintop victory party, thinking they were still being controlled by cerebro-shells. Suddenly, Grimlock broke cover and ordered them to attack, then charged Frenzy, ripping him in half. It's not stated whether this freed Bumblebee of his paralysis as well, but it can be probably assumed.

In yet another alternate path, Frenzy was one of many Decepticons standing beside his leader on the mountaintop, doing nothing of note in the face of yet another Autobot victory.
Dinobots Strike Back

Battle Drive
In one possible scenario, where Megatron and his troops had tracked down Sparkplug to a cave in the mountains, Frenzy was amongst the Decepticons present, ready to pounce on the human. Then a small squadron of Autobots arrived to rescue Sparkplug. In the event that Megatron was destroyed by Swoop, Frenzy, along with the rest of the Decepticons, were easily defeated by the Autobots. In the event that Swoop retreated, Frenzy was amongst the Decepticons who remained at the cave instead of pursuing the Dinobot. Frenzy stood next to Megatron in a military formation, along with Buzzsaw, Ransack, Shockwave, Skywarp and Thundercracker, while Megatron delivered his sanction to the Autobots in the cave; "Prepare to die!" The battle that ensued lasted for two full days before the Decepticons were ready to move in for the kill. In the event that Swoop returned in time with reinforcements, Frenzy and the rest of the Decepticons were forced to retreat.

In a completely different possible series of events, Frenzy was amongst the enormous army of Decepticons that Megatron led against Optimus's small squad of Autobots, once the Autobots had been lured out in the open farmlands. If Optimus decided to keep his troops together in one unit while trying to make a dash for a nearby bridge, Frenzy backed up Soundwave, along with Buzzsaw and Laserbeak, in the Decepticons' first attempt to stop them. Although this initial attempt as unsuccessful on the Decepticons' part, they nonetheless eventually managed to halt Optimus's progress and pulverized the Autobots.

In the event that Optimus decided to instead stay behind and provide cover fire while the rest of the Autobots drove to safety, Frenzy was one of the ten Decepticons who ganged up on Optimus all at once. If Jazz backtracked to rescue his commanding officer, Frenzy backed up in fear after seeing Soundwave, Bombshell and Starscream being defeated by the two Autobots, allowing the pair to escape. Battle Drive

Attack of the Insecticons
Either Rumble or Frenzy were present, yet mostly uninvolved, in a number of possible adventures revolving around the Sun-Pak, a device invented by the Autobots' human ally Sparkplug. Attack of the Insecticons

Earthquake
For Megatron’s latest plot, Frenzy was tasked with monitoring the Destruction Beam which would destroy Center City. Earthquake (book)

Desert Flight
Frenzy was part of a Decepticon deployment stationed in a desert base. The Decepticons plotted to lure the Autobots in a trap through the use of an anti-gravity beam. Using the beam on a nearby human settlement, the Autobots would be duped into coming to the fleshliness’ rescue, only to be themselves trapped by the effects of the beam.

In the event that the Autobots used a trojan ruse to infiltrate the Decepticon base, and the Decepticons’ forcefield was disabled, Frenzy and Ravage tackled Powerglide after the later had burst into the Decepticons’ base, guns ablaze, only for the two Decepticons to crash into one another when Powerglide ducked.Desert Flight

Decepticon Poison
Frenzy is one of the most dreaded of Decepticons! He also has a fighter jet alternate mode.

In one possible sequence of events, Frenzy accompanied Megatron in order to take out the recently poisoned Autobots. They found themselves fighting against the now-cured Autobots, but gained the upper hand early in the fight nonetheless. They were nonetheless force into a retreat when Optimus led a second squad of Autobots into battle.

In another possible scenario, Megatron and his Decepticon squad were tricked into thinking that the Autobots were already dead, and strode into the Autobots’ base. The Decepticons lay down their weapons in order to carry out the Autobots’ “corpses,” but were ambushed once they had disarmed themselves. Frenzy and the others were then quickly defeated.

In another possible scenario, Frenzy was led by Ramjet in a full-scale Decepticon assault. The Autobots, having miscalculated on how much antidote they had taken to cure themselves of the Decepticons’ poison, found themselves falling apart, leading to an easy victory for the Decepticons.

In yet another possible scenario, the Autobots managed to weaponize the tainted fuel, took out the first wave of the Decepticons’ attack with the toxic fumes emitted from the liquid when burned. Frenzy and Laserbeak proceeded to attack in the second wave, diving right through the poisonous cloud to drop bombs onto the Autobots. The toxic fumes affected them shortly as well, and when the pair fell out of the sky, the rest of the Decepticons retreated.

In a different sequence of events, Frenzy was one of the many Decepticons who attempted to poison a water supply facility, in order to turn the nearby human population into mindless slaves. In one possible scenario that followed, he was shot down by Powerglide, causing Frenzy to crash into the reservoir, and release his poison supply into it anyways. Whoops. Decepticon Poison

Autobot Alert!
Frenzy was stationed at the Decepticons’ command centre, working as a guard to make sure the Decepticons’ latest plan to conquer the Earth went smoothly.

In one possible scenario, he later boarded Astrotrain as the Decepticon shuttle took off from the command centre, and bossed Laserbeak around some.

In a completely different possible scenario, Frenzy accompanied Galvatron on a campaign to retrieve an ancient sphere of cybertite that contained the secrets to an ancient Autobot power-booster. Learning that the sphere was located within a sunken ship off the California coast, Frenzy and the others headed for its location.

If they found the Autobots in the middle of retrieving it, the Decepticons destroyed both the ship and the sphere, and proceeded to rain superior Decepticon firepower upon their foes.

If the Decepticons found the coast deserted, they retrieved the ship themselves, using the might of Devastator.

If Ironhide, Brawn and Grapple attempted to snatch the ship away from the Decepticons, Frenzy and his comrades destroyed the ship and the sphere contained within to keep it out of Autobot hands. The Decepticons then proceeded to pin down the Autobots in their hiding spots, leaving the heroic robots at their mercy.

If Springer, Topspin and Seaspray executed their plan to retrieve the sphere from Decepticon clutches, they successfully distracted the evil robots for long enough to whisk the cybertite sphere back to Metroplex. Autobot Alert!

The Invisibility Factor
In one possible scenario, Frenzy was one of the Decepticons that happened upon Sarah Sanders’s ship when it landed in the desert. While Scavenger held the woman captive, Frenzy and the other Decepticons dragged the ship itself to a hidden location.

In another possible scenario, Frenzy and the other Decepticons happened upon Sarah Sanders’s ship before any Autobots had come in contact with her. While Scavenger held the woman captive, Frenzy and the other Decepticons dragged the ship itself to a hidden location. In whichever scenario that followed, the Autobots managed to steal the Invisibility Device from the Decepticons, either dazzling Frenzy and the others with their headlights while Hot Rod took the device right out of their hands, or tricking him and most of the other Decepticons into leaving the spaceship behind while they pursued the young Autobot on a wild goose chase. The Decepticons did not succeed in catching Hot Rod no matter what scenario ensued. The Invisibility Factor
Dreamwave Generation One continuity
{{note|Dreamwave was the first piece of new media to revive confusion over the coloration of Frenzy and Rumble. Frenzy was one of the earliest recruits into Megatron's Decepticons over nine million years ago, apparently associated with Soundwave and his cassettes from the very beginning. Shortly after the appointment of Optimus Prime, Frenzy took part in the major Decepticon offensive against Iacon, defending one of Cybertron's planetary turbines against Autobot incursion alongside Long Haul, Thrust and Hook. The War Within issue 6 In later years, Frenzy served under Shockwave's command during the Dark Ages as part of the main Decepticon faction. Assigned to guard Shockwave's lab alongside Rumble, the pair were counting up Autobot casualties when one of the lab's machines suddenly exploded. They managed to convince Shockwave that it wasn't their fault, but as they went back to their counting game, another machine similarly blew up. The Age of Wrath Pt.3
Frenzy was a member of the Nemesis crew when it departed Cybertron in pursuit of the Autobots' Ark four million years ago. Frenzy at last resurfaced in 2003, participating in a battle between the Autobots and Decepticons in the Arctic. This fight was interrupted by an unexpected visit from Cybertron—Shockwave and Ultra Magnus working side-by-side in a unified Cybertronian government. When Shockwave subdued Megatron, Rumble and Frenzy fell under his command, and were assigned watch over their unconscious ex-leader in the hold of the ship that was taking them all back to Cybertron.
Millions of years ago, Frenzy and Rumble were working together as "industrial equipment" on Mining Outpost C-12, harvesting energon veins for Cybertron. When their employment was terminated by the Senate in favor of automation, a riot broke out among the miners, and they were taken into custody. With the aid of their fellow miner Megatron, however, Frenzy and Rumble hijacked the shuttle transporting them to prison, and the trio fled into the bowels of Kaon. Megatron Origin issue 1 There, they became participants in an underground deathsport tournament fronted by Clench, fighting alongside him in the arena. After Megatron killed Clench and took control of the gladiatorial circle, Frenzy and Rumble accompanied him to a meeting with Soundwave, a representative of Senator Ratbat, who wished to help foster the public unrest Megatron was fomenting. The meeting was observed by council spies Bumper and Fastback; Rumble and Frenzy held down Bumper so Megatron could interrogate him. Megatron Origin issue 2

As part of Megatron's growing plans, Frenzy and Rumble were modified to lose their vehicle modes and instead fit inside Soundwave's chest compartment. They were not too happy with this, but didn't dare to protest against Megatron's orders. Megatron Origin issue 3 It was in these new forms that they were able to enact Megatron's "Trojan Horse" scheme, smuggled into the Senate facilities inside Soundwave where they helped assassinate the Senators, free arrested gladiators, and acquire an armory's worth of weapons for all. Megatron's forces began to lay waste to the city, and at the uprising's climax, Frenzy and Rumble watched their leader defeat Sentinel Prime. Megatron Origin issue 4

As Megatron's "Decepticon" movement continued to grow, Frenzy accompanied Soundwave on a mission to spy on Zeta Prime. Discovered by Orion Pax and fleeing, Soundwave deployed Frenzy in a crowded marketplace, where the little 'bot used his sonic vibrations to instill panic and fear amongst the civilians present, causing the crowd to turn on Pax. Making use of this distraction, Soundwave managed to reach the borders of Kaon before Orion caught up and shot Frenzy. The Hunt for Soundwave No long after, when Scorponok usurped Decepticon leadership, having exiled Megatron to Junkion, Frenzy and Swindle were a bit confused since they thought Junkion was just a myth. Wreckage (issue)

Frenzy was apparently not with Soundwave when he visited Earth in 1984 and was trapped in his alternate mode, but he eventually reconnected with him and the rest of the Decepticon detachment on Earth by 2007, when the villains tricked and defeated the Autobots on the planet. All Hail Megatron issue 7 With the Autobots exiled back to the dead Cybertron, the Decepticons declared open warfare on the human populace. Faced with hundreds of armed troops on the Great Lawn of New York City's Central Park, Soundwave unleashed Frenzy, who, driven insane by millions of years of exposure to his own sonic vibrations, single-handedly annihilated the entire human detachment. All Hail Megatron issue 2

After the Autobots returned and drove the Decepticons from Earth, Frenzy was one of the unfortunates left stranded on the planet. Left abandoned for two years, his tenuous mental condition deteriorated even further, and he began talking to himself and engaged in regular cattle mutilation and slaughter. He was tagged for capture by Skywatch, and they sent their new allies, Bumblebee and the Autobots, to detain the crazed Mini-Cassette. Frenzy was captured and turned over to the humans. The Hanging Sword

Despite his capture by Skywatch, contrary reports place Frenzy on the asteroid on which the destitute Decepticons had holed up, assisting Soundwave and Shockwave as they built a new body for Megatron. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 2: Altered Carbon Four months later, Frenzy accompanied Soundwave back to Earth and attacked a Skywatch base holding a number of captured Decepticons. Frenzy used his sonic attack to bring the pain to Brawn, Silverstreak and Ultra Magnus. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 1: The Demolished Man Later at the Decepticon base, he was amongst those who prepared to watch a fight between Optimus Prime and Megatron, and was presumably caught in the blast when Prime ended the fight early by having a satellite dropped on the base. Revenge of the Decepticons Part 5: Enemy Mine

After the Chaos Event ended the war, Frenzy stayed on Cybertron as the Autobots and NAILs tried to rebuild their society. While many Decepticons tried to become part of the new world, Frenzy stuck by Soundwave and Shockwave, who were actually in contact with the missing Megatron, and putting a plan in place to re-ignite the war. When the time came, they used their mind-controlled minion Prowl to stage their apparent deaths, so they could put the final pieces of their plan into place in absolute secrecy, though Prowl's catspaw Arcee did it in the most violent way possible, incapacitating them all by blowing up the pen in which they were living. The End of the Beginning of the World

Relocated to the Black Room, Frenzy was upgraded into a new body with a tank alternate mode The Verge and took to the streets as the Decepticons put their plans into motion. His new body duplicated the power of his sonic attacks, but unfortunately for him, he hadn't realized the effectiveness of sound waves depend on the thickness of the atmosphere. He learned that lesson after Ironhide easily waded through his attack and clocked him. Plan for Everything After the battle was over, all Autobots and Decepticons who wouldn't renounce their factions were banished into the wilderness, including Frenzy. Heavy Is the Head

Frenzy fought beside Soundwave when Blitzwing and Astrotrain challenged his claim for leadership of the Decepticons, Shockpoint and went with Soundwave to Crystal City to confront Shockwave, hiding in Soundwave's chest with the other cassettes until Soundwave let them loose in order to catch the traitorous scientist off-guard. The regenerative properties of the Ore-14 in the city soon made any fighting pointless, and Soundwave's party retreated. Soundwaves (issue) When the Necrotitan appeared on Cybertron's surface and unleashed its death-wave, Frenzy was heavily affected as his whole body began to corrode away. Into the Abyss: Dark Cybertron Chapter 4 Thanks to Metroplex's "life-wave," Frenzy managed to recover Finis Temporis: Dark Cybertron Chapter 9 just in time to do some drinking and singing at Swerve's. The Becoming: Dark Cybertron Chapter 10 Frenzy helped Soundwave and his fellow cassettes in defending Cybertron against the Ammonites, Black Planet: Dark Cybertron Chapter 11 and looked up to watch when the Lost Light came back from Crystal City. ...And the Damage Done: Dark Cybertron Finale
Frenzy wound up as a member of Soundwave and Galvatron's new Decepticons, Earthfall Chapter 4: Full Fathom Five and went to Earth with the rest of them. Following Soundwave and Galvatron's meeting with the leadership of the Earth Defense Command, Frenzy watched as Galvatron slammed Rumble into a wall in anger. Earthfall Chapter 3: The Mind Bomb When the Decepticons and EDC ambushed the Autobots together at Thundercracker's homestead, Frenzy and Rumble attacked Kup together. Earthfall Part 2: Detonation Boulevard Frenzy then participated in the battle against the Autobots on Bikini Atoll. Earthfall Chapter 5: I Dream of Wires

Frenzy was quick to say he and some other Decepticons would be glad to help Galvatron after he interrupted a card game they were playing to invite them along in going after Spike Witwicky. Onyx Interface Part One: Signals, Calls, and Marches Frenzy and Rumble waited in a Tokyo back alley in their brand-new motorcycle alt-modes for Witwicky and Jimmy Pink, who were on the run from Prowl and the Constructicons, to use them to try and escape.
Following the crash-landing of the Decepticon-occupied Ark-7 in Shanghai, Frenzy was one of those there to greet Galvatron's new soldiers. Conquerors Part 4: Perihelion During the subsequent battle with Optimus Prime and his own soldiers, Frenzy was left stunned by the EDC's mindbomb. All Hail Optimus Part 1: Once Upon a Time on Earth Fortunately, he managed to get onboard the Peace Without Tyranny. Rumble and Frenzy were still being evacuated from the ocean with the others when Earth Defense Command launched a strike on the recovering Cybertronians. White Light They briefly fought back before Sky Lynx led a retreat by the wounded. White Heat

Never ones to stay out of trouble, Rumble and Frenzy became secret arms dealers, in violation of the Tyrest Accord and...well, just about everybody's good sense. They stockpiled the confiscated and discarded weapons brought aboard Sanctuary Station and arranged to bring them to Earth. Using holomatter avatars, they began selling Cybertronian weaponry to humans who felt they needed to protect themselves from the alien threat. New Cybertron Part 1: To Walk Among the Chosen Primeless, Part 2

Meanwhile, Soundwave requested their aid on an infiltration mission when the Junkions arrived on Earth. Rumble and Frenzy had lost some respect for Soundwave since he started hanging out with Autobots and the Prime, but they were bored, so whatever. They joined Sanctuary's resident Autobot Cosmos in entering the Junkion ship to determine the scope of their forces, but ran afoul of a tank of Sharkticons. New Cybertron Part 3: Behind My Bleeding Back They were overwhelmed by the marauding hordes. New Cybertron Part 4: Dance Among the Shadows Fortunately, Soundwave managed to talk down the Sharkticons when the Junkions attacked Earth with them, pacifying even the ones facing Rumble and Frenzy. They tried to escape the Junkion ship, but ducked for cover when they saw Arcee facing off against Wreck-Gar, with no desire to face her blades again. Honest! New Cybertron End: Feel Safe Without Regrets
Rumble and Frenzy's gunrunning scam was eventually uncovered by Jazz and the Colonist Autobots working with Aileron. The political ramifications worked to their advantage, though, as the Autobots couldn't figure out how to punish them without making things worse on Earth for Cybertronians. Aileron reluctantly decided to bury the information, letting the Cassettes off scot free. Primeless, Part 2 Rumble and Frenzy moved on to movie production, trying to create a blockbuster action movie called Dark Invasion under their company title, Tape Bros. Frenzy, Laserbeak and Ravage met with the representative of their G.I. Joe welcomers, Hawk, who made it clear that Earth had no intent of surrendering.
*According to his toy's bio, he "Can roll his drums to produce high-pitch, grating sound of 200dB." This is about 100 times as loud as the famous Krakatoa volcanic eruption, which was audible 3,000 miles away. It's also six decibels louder than the 194dB that is usually quoted as the maximum sound limit in Earth's atmosphere. However, that 194dB limit assumes one is at sea-level and that the temperature is zero degrees Celsius. A sound of 200dB is theoretically achievable on Earth under higher-pressure conditions (such as below sea-level) or at sub-zero temperatures.
*An early character bio for Frenzy published in The Transformers Comics Magazine gave him the nickname of Maddog.
*Sunstreaker's character model in Frenzy's colors is seen retreating with the Decepticons at the end of "Attack of the Autobots". Frenzy himself does not otherwise appear in the episode, making the actuality of his appearance in it arguable.
*Sunbow casting documents indicate that "Frenzy" was originally considered as a name for the Terrorcon, Rippersnapper, but was dropped—presumably because that name was already in use.
*The Rumble/Frenzy head design was used as the basis for the head of Freezon, the Decepticon Tyco Electric Racing Set car.
*According to the cardbacks of Generation 2 figures, the Go-Bots version of Frenzy was originally planned to be in red... which would've just added more fuel to the FIBRIR/FIRRIB debates.
*As with most other cameo Kreons, Frenzy uses existing Kre-O parts to make up his build: he uses the Hound helmet, the Onslaught twin cannon backpack and Kreon legs for arms in homage to Rumble's pile-driver arms (The Japanese dub of The Transformers corrected the whole FIRRIB/FIBRIR issue by swapping the names, turning Rumble into Frenzy to make him consistent with the toy naming).
**Like almost all Japanese fiction or toys, he is blue. His Kreon figure is red (well, black, but that's what anyone really means by saying he's red).
