decepticon
:Breakdown is a Decepticon Stunticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Breakdown has an acute case of paranoia. (What was that!?) He genuinely believes that things, both living and inanimate, are watching him. (They're all over me!) Breakdown doesn't like to stand out in a crowd. (Did you hear that!?) He dreads being different and garnering attention. (Stop staring at me!) At times, he almost wishes he was a human so he could just disappear and no one would notice. (Get them off meeeee!) Needless to say, he and Red Alert (He's one of THEM!!) would be energon drinking buddies if each wasn't likely to be convinced the other was trying to poison him.

In vehicle mode, Breakdown's engine has got the shakes so hard that it can actually cause mechanical failures in other vehicles. (They're faking!) He can also rely (Ha! As if!) on his concussion rifle if he gets cornered in an alley. As you'd expect, his paranoia is his worst weakness. It's such a problem that the stress can trigger mechanical problems, and it does, constantly. (Oh, yeah, I bet you'd love to claim this was "self-inflicted"!)

Breakdown can also combine (They'll never take me alive!!) with his fellow Stunticons to form Menasor. As if the combiner wasn't unstable enough (It's not paranoia if they're really out to get you!!!), he's forced into working together with Wildrider (Oh god, I have to run together with HIM?) when they form Menasor's legs. In another universe, he is paired with Offroad instead. (Don't believe his lies!)
After a failed attempt to steal experimental rocket fuel from United States military, Megatron realized that while the Decepticons controlled the skies, the Autobots had supremacy on the ground, and so they needed new ground-based warriors who could out-drive and out-fight the Autobots on their terms. Rumble was sent to steal various human vehicles that would be rebuilt to become the new Stunticons. Breakdown was given life by Vector Sigma along with the rest of the Stunticons. He agreed to obey Megatron, but there was a certain reluctance in his voice. He probably thought Megatron was out to get him, or something. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1

Whilst the Autobots were trapped on Cybertron, the Decepticons returned to Earth with the newly awakened Stunticons who began wreaking havoc and damaging the Autobots' good name by attacking the US military base containing the experimental rocket fuel. Eventually, the Autobots returned with the newly built Aerialbots whose combined form Superion defeated the Stunticon combiner Menasor. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

Despite this defeat, the Stunticons were the key component in Megatron's elaborate scheme to hold a fake charity race from Paris to Istanbul so he could steal US driver Auggie Cahnay's car which would be melted down to house the powerful Pearl of Bahoudin. One by one, the Stunticons disabled the Autobot participants assigned to protect Cahnay. Afterwards, the Stunticons were defeated when Cahnay rammed his car into Menasor’s face. Trans-Europe Express

When Megatron was infected with Cosmic Rust after a trip to the lost Autobot colony of Antilla, the Stunticons were assigned to capture the Autobot scientist Perceptor, who had developed the powerful anti-corrosion Corrostop. Arriving incognito on a ferry, Breakdown transformed and nervously informed the human passengers that this was a mutiny...no, no a hijack! Anyway, they were taking over the boat! Breakdown forced the humans into the captain’s cabin, though he actually locked them in the garage. After Megatron cured himself and infected the Autobots with the Cosmic Rust, Menasor attacked the Statue of Liberty in New York City with the ancient Lightning Bug heat ray, intent on stopping the Autobots from matter-duplicating more Corrostop from the layer they sprayed on the statue. Superion defeated Menasor and destroyed the Lightning Bug. Cosmic Rust (episode)

After Starscream was banished for yet another failed coup, he returned with a powerful new Decepticon team called the Combaticons, who were able to outfight Autobot and Decepticon alike. With Megatron needing a trump card, Soundwave attempted to call on the Stunticons to help, but they refused as they were having a demolition derby with various human-owned cars. However, the Stunticons belatedly arrived after the Combaticons' combined form of Bruticus defeated Devastator and forced Megatron to acknowledge Starscream as the new Decepticon leader. Realizing that Starscream would not stop at Megatron, the Stunticons merged into Menasor and disabled Bruticus in one mighty punch. Starscream's Brigade

While assembling a new weapon capable of destroying any target by creating a chain reaction in its molecules, Megatron found himself short a few key components to finish the device. He sent the Stunticons out to retrieve those components by any means necessary. Breakdown and Wildrider assaulted a local optics laboratory to gather new focusing lenses for the cannon's beam. On their way to the weapon's construction site, they were intercepted by a troop of Autobots. It was Grapple who brought down Breakdown, setting him on fire with his arc-welder rifle by using a trail of fuel as a fuse. The Stunticons were dragged back to Autobot Headquarters for imprisonment, an experience that Breakdown considered thoroughly "mortifrying". Once brought in, the Stunticons' radios were disabled and they were trapped in vehicle mode behind energized bars. The Autobots then used camouflage paint to alter their appearances and mimic the Stunticons, hoping to get close enough to Megatron to catch him unawares. Autobot warrior Sideswipe assumed Breakdown's appearance for the mission. After they left, however, Breakdown tried using his unique vibratory pulses to disrupt his bars and break free, and just as he "preducted", it worked! He caught his Autobot captors by surprise and blasted several of them before they could react, giving him enough time to free his fellow Stunticons and form Menasor. After a brief but memorable conflict, Menasor escaped the Ark and returned to Megatron. The cannon was rendered unusable by the Autobots' intervention, though, and Megatron's plan failed. Masquerade

In the wake of Unicron's attack on Cybertron in the year 2005 and the subsequent Decepticon exile to Chaar in 2006, the Stunticons were reduced to being scavengers, fighting like slaargs with their fellow Decepticons over the few scraps of energon they had. Motormaster determined that the Decepticons needed strong leadership to survive, and hope came when Cyclonus brought news of Galvatron's survival and asked for the Decepticons to donate their remaining energon to revive their leader. While Dead End was pessimistic about their survival, Breakdown said they were doomed anyway without a leader and focus. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 However, while Cyclonus and the Sweeps were resurrecting Galvatron, the Quintessons arrived on Chaar with an offer of energon in exchange for attacking the Autobots. Breakdown and the Stunticons decided to have a little fun and tear up a baseball stadium in Japan. Luckily, the Autobots' plucky young ally Kenji was present to radio for assistance. All the combiner teams assembled, and it was Menasor and Bruticus against Superion and Defensor! Defensor was forced to break apart by the combined Decepticon attack, but Superion and Kenji got the idea to shoot out the Decepticons' leg components. Groove and Blades took advantage of the empty combiner ports and took over as Menasor's legs while First Aid and Streetwise took over as Bruticus' lower limbs. All four Protectobots immediately launched Menasor and Bruticus into the ocean. Breakdown was last seen chasing his "possessed" teammates into the distance. {{storylink|Fight! Later, Frenzy and Rumble posed as humans to rally people against the Autobots, and Motormaster's brigade staged an attack on the rally to drive the point home. The Autobot fire engines Hot Spot and Inferno arrived, however, and used their water hoses to wash off the Decepticons' fake insignia. Breakdown and the Stunticons were summoned by Megatron to put an end to the Scramble City project, and succeeded where Starscream had failed. Their first strike was impressive, holding back Optimus Prime and a cadre of Autobots and shooting the Aerialbots out of the skies. When the Aerialbots formed Superion, Breakdown and his teammates followed suit and merged into Menasor. When the Autobot combiners arrived to save Dalton, Breakdown and his teammates were deployed at high speeds from Motormaster's launcher mode. They met Superion in mid-air, and the force of their deployment enabled the combiner teams to tear him apart. The Stunticons then merged into Menasor to move in for the kill. Breakdown and the Stunticons participated in Galvatron's siege on Cybertron. They managed to gain the high ground against the Dinobots and Throttlebots, and rained laser fire down on their opponents. Four Warriors Come out of the Sky Breakdown and his team formed Menasor to fight their Autobot counterparts, but were steamrolled by the might and firepower of the Battleship Maximus. Transporting back to Earth, they attempted to interfere with Hot Rod's quest for the Matrix. Breakdown and the Stunticons were confronted by the Aerialbots in the desert, but the battle of their combiner forms eventually led them to the Arctic. The Mystery of Planet Master
When Vector Sigma began perfecting the new super-metal Cybertonuron on Cybertron, Galvatron ordered another all-out attack on the planet to seize the metal for the Decepticons before the Autobots could make use of it. Breakdown and the Stunticons journeyed to Cybertron with the strike force, and confronted their old enemies, the Aerialbots. The Aerialbots got the drop on Breakdown's group by forming Superion and lashing out before the Stunticons could form Menasor as well. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 1 Breakdown and the Stunticons were still in a firefight sometime later, as Chromedome passed by looking for Mindwipe and the Decepticon Headmasters. Cybertron Is in Grave Danger, Part 2 In San Francisco, Breakdown and the Stunticons assisted Bruticus in using a carnivorous plant to distract the Autobots from Scorponok's plans on Zarak. Megatron called Breakdown and Counterpunch to him to help him brainstorm ideas for more ultimate weapons. Breakdown suggested they visit BotCon again, as it's the destination for everything Transformers-related. Also, there would be exclusive toys, special guests, and various functions and events! Little did Breakdown know that Counterpunch was a double agent, and that the Decepticons' designs for BotCon would soon be relayed to the Autobots. BotCon 2010 Promo

Some time after the return of Cybertron's Golden Age, Breakdown was the only remaining Stunticon. The others were all placed in stasis after a brutal fight with Defensor. Breakdown left Galvatron's army. His self-esteem had decreased considerably without Menasor to prove his value, and he feared it was only a matter of time before the volatile Decepticon leader simply did away with him. Breakdown traveled back to Earth in hopes of tracking down the last Protectobot Streetwise for revenge, and eventually joined Clench’s Decepticon Syndicate.

In 2010, Breakdown helped Clench take control of the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, where the Decepticons and the Quintesson agent Sky-Byte hoped to harness the potential of the chemical forestonite. Breakdown expressed his distrust of Sky-Byte, but his views were ignored by Clench who nominated both soldiers as test subjects for the refined forestonite. Luckily for them, the new fuel worked as intended. Breakdown’s vibration ability was enhanced considerably, allowing him to fire sonic booms at his enemies.

He got to try out his new powers and try for vengeance when Streetwise and his fellow Generation 2 Autobots broke in, attempting to stop Clench’s plan. After throttling Streetwise for a while, Breakdown had his enemy in his grip, but when he saw the Autobot commander Spark making a grab for the forestonite, he blasted the supply, hoping to blow it and Spark up.

Instead, the shattered canisters released forestonite gas, and exposed the Autobots to the same mutations as the Decepticons. Now granted the capability to phase through objects, Streetwise vanished from sight, psyching out the increasingly paranoid Breakdown. Eventually, he was able to sneak right up on the Decepticon. Breakdown would’ve been taken prisoner, but an explosion from outside startled Streetwise just long enough for Breakdown to transform and speed off in escape. Generation 2: Redux
Though Buster Witwicky had given the Creation Matrix back to Optimus Prime, its influence was still present in his mind. He and Prime had their minds connected to a machine, where they shared a vision of a "Second Generation" of Transformers. Breakdown was the member of the Stunticons, one of four Special Teams. In this vision, Breakdown and his fellow Stunticons combined into Menasor and fought the Autobots Superion and Defensor. After Breakdown and the others knocked over every car in their way to get to Skids, they turned to "protect" him from the new Aerialbots, hoping to confuse the public and discredit the Autobots. Breakdown had traveled early with some other Decepticons to the Decepticons' new island headquarters, where he helped construct an energy transfer pipeline that led from the island through the space bridge to Cybertron. Megatron, meanwhile, had been attacked by Predaking under secret orders from Shockwave. Fearing that good publicity among the humans would give Earthforce an edge, they sent the Stunticons to kidnap the human. As Motormaster made off with the reporter, Breakdown and the Stunticons ran interference against the Autobot cars following him. After Jazz transformed and got off a quick shot at their leader, Breakdown rear-ended him in the legs. They eventually did so, and Breakdown and Dead End were about to execute the Decepticon traitors when Death's Head returned with news of Shockwave's demise. Breakdown and the rest of the Stunticons were being kept a secret from the Autobots until Megatron was ready to dispatch them on a raid on the Pullen Power Plant. Once in position, the Stunticons raced forward, ready to take whatever Autobots might be guarding the location by surprise. Breakdown drove ahead of the rest of the group, scouting for an open road to their destination. Encountering the Protectobots en route, Motormaster ordered Breakdown and the other Stunticons to combine into Menasor to do battle. Dead End and Breakdown received the most damage during the fight, prompting them to send signals to their gestalt form to flee the battle. The fight soon began to weigh in the Autobots’ favour, prompting Menasor to split up into individual robots once more, who dispersed away from the battlefield. The Special Teams
The Stunticons were deemed psychotic and too dangerous to function in society, and as a result were placed into perpetual stasis lock inside of a prison facility. Later, in an attempt to create a diversion while he set his final plans in motion, Shockwave arranged for the release of the Stunticons. They formed into Menasor and ran amuck for a while, until Ultra Magnus arrived and began insulting them. Unable to reconcile with this, the five Stunticons began to bicker with each other over whose fault it was that they were failing, temporarily stopping Menasor and allowing Ultra Magnus to ram the combiner in the chest, forcing him to separate into his component parts and disabling the Stunticons. Passive Aggression
It must've been Breakdown's lucky day when Teletran 3 went haywire and transported him and the Stunticons to 1930s Chicago, as unlike his comrades, he stayed conscious the whole time instead of getting locked in a new vehicle mode. Breakdown decided to stay quiet, however, and let himself be used by a human criminal gang until he and the others were found by a group of [[G.I. Joe (team)|G.I. After overhearing Optimus Prime explaining what would happen to Earth if the Stunticons weren't retrieved, Breakdown revealed himself and stole Beachhead's disruption units, using them to awaken Dead End, Wildrider and Drag Strip.
Breakdown was among the Decepticons abandoned on Earth after the fall of Megatron. Two years later, he was so desperate for energon that he attacked a human solar power planet, looking to somehow recharge. Skywatch was dispatched to the scene, and they overpowered the Stunticon using armored Crash suits. By attaching a mode-lock device, the Skywatch agents forcibly reverted Breakdown to vehicle mode, leaving him trapped and unable to operate himself. Spike Witwicky took possession of Breakdown's car mode himself after the battle. ...For All Mankind

Breakdown was then been relegated to Spike's pimpmobile, although the human did repair the battle damage first before taking the Decepticon out on the town. Things Fall Apart, Part 1: "New Arrivals, Old Encounters" Witwicky drove Breakdown to Skywatches' headquarters to interrogate Optimus Prime, who had surrendered himself. Things Fall Apart, Part 2: "A Rude Awakening"

After an enlightening conversation with Optimus, Spike left to drive Breakdown around to help clear his head. He asked Breakdown rhetorical questions about his feelings on the war, knowing that the suppressor kept the captive Decepticon from being able to listen, but Spike's one-sided chat was suddenly interrupted. The other Stunticons had surrounded Breakdown on the road, hoping to rescue him. Reclaiming Breakdown wouldn't be easy, as Spike began unloading gunfire at them through his busted window. Despite these countermeasures, Spike was forced to abandon Breakdown by leaping out his window into a body of water when he saw the much bigger Motormaster heading towards him in a game of chicken.

Breakdown was returned to the construction site of a spaceship, built by an alliance between some Decepticons and a group of Autobots led by Hot Rod. Swindle spent three hours doing mysterious repairs on Breakdown, cutting into time needed to build the spaceship, a decision that had begun to rub the Autobots the wrong way. But when Ultra Magnus and a group of deputized Autobots under Bumblebee's command arrived to arrest everyone for their illegal actions, Swindle's gambit was revealed. Despite their new physical power, however, the Stunticons' combiner process was imperfect. The individual robots' personalities did not properly blend into one another to create the Menasor gestalt mind, leaving them mentally disorganized. Breakdown was heard complaining that he couldn't see anything from his position as one of the legs. The Autobots took advantage of this weakness, targeting the individual Stunticon components in sequence. Breakdown was seen surrendering to Skywatch in the aftermath. Things Fall Apart, Part 5: "Earthworks"
Breakdown and the rest of the Stunticons were created in response to the failure of a Decepticon campaign to acquire Autobot superfuel. Realizing they needed a strong ground force, Breakdown and his kin were created by modifying Earth vehicles with Cybertronian technology, and then bringing them before Vector Sigma to be imbued with the spark of life. The Autobots brought the Aerialbots to life at the same time, and the Decepticons found themselves on the losing side until the Stunticons merged into Menasor. The Decepticons lost nonetheless, though they acquired the key to Vector Sigma as a consolation prize. The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1 (Legends) Later, Breakdown participated in a fight on Earth as the Decepticons attempted to use the power of the key to transform Earth into a new Cybertron. : Part of the second wave of Combiner Wars Deluxe Class toys, Breakdown is a new-mold figure which transforms from a supercar resembling a Lamborghini Gallardo to robot and back! As a Combiner Wars Deluxe limb he will be able to combine with any Voyager Class toys released as part of the same subline but is, of course, intended to be combined with Motormaster, Drag Strip, Dead End, Offroad, and Blackjack to create Menasor.

:The limb piece can connect on the vehicle mode's top in two different ways: either by using the 5mm peghole arrangement most of the other Stunticons use, or through a system of tabs which incorporate the weapon closer to the vehicle, evoking the custom engines Sunstreaker had for some reason. The limb piece can also be stored on the robot's back, a feature also shown in the figure's package art, also evoking the custom engines Sunstreaker had for some reason (this can either be achieved by using the 5mm peg, or by folding back the limb piece's palm and thumb, and using the guide-rails located on the sides of the limb piece). Breakdown's sword/gun can tab into either of the slots on the car mode's sides.

:Breakdown comes with a copy of "Combiner Wars #5" (actually Robots in Disguise #13). In non-American releases, he comes with a collector card featuring art from the episode "The Thin Blue Line" of Transformers Legends.

The Stunticons were instrumental in convincing the other Decepticons to ally themselves with the Quintessons. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3 After Galvatron returned to seize control of the Decepticons, the Stunticons were part of the Decepticon team attacking the Autobots on Earth. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5
Galvatron kidnapped Doctor Dalton of Eran to upgrade the might of his combiner warriors.

Megatron, meanwhile, had been attacked by Predaking under secret orders from Shockwave.
Its confirmed production run numbers a mere 300 specimens: 204 were available at BotCon '94, an additional 48 were given official release the following January at the 1995 Florida Extravaganza Collectibles Show, and the rest initially remained in Hasbro's possession and over the years have probably made their way into private collections. Originally, Hasbro had planned to mass-release a complete set of Generation 2 Stunticons, but ultimately only Breakdown saw official release in any form.

The limb piece can also be stored on the robot's back, a feature also shown in the figure's package art, also evoking the custom engines Sunstreaker had for some reason (this can either be achieved by facing the engine outward and using the 5mm peg, or by facing the engine inward, folding back the limb piece's palm and thumb, and using the guide-rails located on the sides of the limb piece).

During the battle, the Stunticons tried mixing it up by swapping around their usual configuration, and Breakdown became Menasor's left arm. Scramble City: Mobilization

The spear's mental assault combined with the power of the obelisk's Disentanglement Field to send Breakdown flinging through the multiverse. Years later, the Transcendent Technomorphs found his energy signature in transwarp, and brought him into Axiom Nexus. The advanced Cybertronians quickly fitted him with an identification bolt and left him under constant surveillance. Breakdown (G1)#toys

Breakdown was playing cards with a number of other bots in Axiom Nexus when Optimus Prime and Optimus Prime turned up looking for Depth Charge. Invasion: Epilogue
Games
Transformers Legends
Even though he and his fellow Stunticons merged into Menasor, the battle was still lost to the Autobots, and the Decepticons fled. Key to Vector Sigma, Part 2

Even Megatron had trouble controlling the Stunticons. The team went on a crime spree in the back alleys of human cities until they were tracked down and stopped by Prowl and his team. The Thin Blue Line

Breakdown was among Galvatron's Decepticon troops who attacked a small group of Autobots, forcing them into hiding in the Autobot Mausoleum. Dark Awakening (Legends)

Wildrider and Breakdown were sent to stop a convoy of Autobots from delivering a vital component to a power station to prevent it exploding. Possibly because they were the only ones crazy enough not to realize they'd be in danger if they were near the station when it exploded. They failed anyway. Rushdown Road

Transformers: Battle Tactics
Breakdown participated in battles against a variety of opponents, both Autobots and Decepticons. Sometimes there were many of him! Transformers: Battle Tactics
IDW Generation 1 continuity
Goldbug and the Throttlebots were assigned to Orvus Base, orbiting Salvvatan VI, to safeguard top-secret Autobot research. Their purpose was to act as couriers in case the lab came under threat, taking the data and keeping it out of enemy hands. They had no idea what the research actually was, but that wasn't deemed essential to their job. And indeed, when an attack did come in the form of Sixshot, the Throttlebots were the only ones who made it out of the station alive, the information in their sole possession. They crashed on the planet below and quickly rushed for cover, Sixshot hot on their trail.

What they found on the planet was a strangely unoccupied, Cybertronian-style city with energon reserves. But just as they were powering up, Sixshot caught up with them and demanded the information. Goldbug suggested that they might not have the information at all, then asked him if he would torture them in that case. Sixshot said he would, so Goldbug ordered the Throttlebots to scatter.

Sixshot quickly took down half the team, even as they tried to feint and counterattack. The remaining three bantered with Sixshot and then attacked him, the battle taking them into a strange chamber where an "intruder alert" alarm began to blare. There, Sixshot shot Goldbug point-blank in the chest, and his remaining two comrades fared little better.

But just as Sixshot was about to execute Searchlight, the city around them awakened. A giant fist smashed Sixshot, followed by a similarly-proportioned foot. Goldbug and his two companions gaped in awe at the transformed Metroplex, who declared his own position compromised and announced that he was going to leave and hide again. He told them where to find a shuttle and supplies, but Goldbug was indignant, asking him what kind of Autobot would abandon the dying Throttlebots. Metroplex replied that he wept for them, but his mission was more important, and with that, he left.

Rollbar and Searchlight, the latter carrying Goldbug, began walking back to recover their teammates. As they pondered how important Metroplex's mission must be and how lonely he surely is, the battered Sixshot stirred... Spotlight: Metroplex
In 1991, the Throttlebots were re-released in European markets as part of the "Classics" sub-line. Goldbug was retooled to remove the rubsign indent on his roof/chest, and the rubsign decal itself was replaced with a glossy-paper Autobot sigil.
:Of course, this toy was originally created as a representation of the Throttlebot previously known as Bumblebee. As this character is not Bumblebee, and since the toy is of an Earth mode body that the IDW character has not, as yet, been depicted in, its inclusion in this article could be classified as a mite contentious at best. Beachcomber

:Beachcomber is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Beachcomber has a hard time reconciling his love of peace and freedom for all creatures with the need to combat those who threaten it. Furthermore, however just the cause for which it was fought, the gruesome and destructive aftermath of any battle sickens him to the spark.

Sometimes, when the internal struggle gets too heavy, he simply has to wander into the wilderness and cleanse his soul. Even there, far from civilization, he sometimes finds strange substances to aid the Autobot cause, for Beachcomber is a skilled naturalist, and geology is his specialty, man. He often tries to preserve or even to hide these discoveries, but he has seen too much evil done by the ruthless Decepticons to conceal any possible source of aid completely from his allies.

Beachcomber's geology tools include a wide array of sensors (magnetic, seismic, sonic, infrared) and a 'sonic pick' which can cut through rock. Beachcomber can use his magnetic sensors to navigate like a compass, but local magnetic disturbances can cause this to lead him astray. His sonic probes possess only limited range.

Beachcomber is neither very fast nor very strong, and his antiwar sentiments gain him little respect from the more martial of the Autobots, yet he is agile and skilled in a fight, and his courage is beyond all reproach.

Beachcomber showed up out of nowhere one day, helping Hound, Inferno and Bumblebee investigate some Insecticon attacks on an old growth forest. This unit proved to be sufficiently under-powered when it came to confronting freshly fed Insecticons, and their battle strategy amounted to hiding behind Hound's holograms until the bad robots went away. The Insecticon Syndrome He was next seen on Dinobot Island, worrying that the battle with the Decepticons would destroy the environment before it could be properly studied, but at least he was still fighting while complaining. Dinobot Island, Part 2

Beachcomber, along with the other Autobots, was exiled from Earth after Megatron allied with greedy businessman Shawn Berger to create anti-Autobot propaganda. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1 He and the other Autobots managed to return to Earth thanks to Trailbreaker's force field and Cosmos's navigation. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

Unlike the next time. On a geology expedition with Perceptor and several other Autobots, Beachcomber abandoned them in the middle of a firefight to explore a cave in the nearby cliffside. While his friends were dodging laser fire and trading blows, Beachcomber was learning to speak parakeet and communing with nature. He also found a golden lagoon full of electrum, a naturally-occurring element which would make any Transformer impervious to harm. He dipped his hand into the lagoon, and it turned completely gold in color. Beachcomber hid this information from his fellow Autobots, and even kept his silence after Thrust arrived coated in electrum and drove the Autobots into retreat, capturing two of their number in the process. Valuing the scenic beauty surrounding the electrum pool, Beachcomber still refused to warn his comrades after the entire Decepticon army arrived coated with invincible golden armor. He went solo to check on the lagoon, and was captured by the Decepticons. Some of the dumber Seekers acted as his prison guards at the Decepticon sunken base, though, and Beachcomber managed to escape alongside his fellow prisoners Perceptor and Seaspray.

Reaching the electrum pool, the trio was met by Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots, who had independently uncovered the pool's location thanks to Powerglide. Realizing his golden hand would give him away, Beachcomber quickly dove into the electrum to disguise his prior knowledge of the substance. In the final battle with the Decepticons, Megatron ordered the electrum pool destroyed rather than sharing it with the Autobots. In the aftermath of the explosion, the wilderness was totally decimated. Beachcomber never told the Autobots that he had known about the Decepticons' secret weapon and had kept silent, and instead sat around mourning the loss of the grass and trees.

Beachcomber is kinda a selfish dick, honestly. The Golden Lagoon

Beachcomber briefly maintained a position at the Autobots' New York City base inside Sparkplug's garage. Make Tracks He was also seen attending Teletraan I when the Autobots were engaged with the Insecticons and Morphobots. Quest for Survival Beachcomber was next seen protecting San Francisco from an alien bird-dragon unleashed on Earth by the Constructicons. He tried appealing to the creature, thinking that we're all one with the same universe. Yeah... that didn't work well. The Secret of Omega Supreme When the energy creature called Kremzeek assaulted the Ark, Beachcomber was one of the first Autobots short-circuited by the little creep. Kremzeek!

Beachcomber was later kidnapped by a greedy toll booth and forced to drive in a circle while hopping over spike-traps. It might make more sense if we explained it better, but it would be nowhere near as funny. Prime Target (episode)

Next, after Megatron kidnapped Perceptor and then voluntarily let him go, Beachcomber joined the entire Autobot team in riding out a few miles from the base to retrieve their friend. Why several dozen Autobots were needed for such a simple mission... is unknown. Cosmic Rust (episode)

In 2006, Beachcomber was stationed at the Ark with Warpath, Pipes and several others when Trypticon came to destroy it. Their feeble efforts to defend the spacecraft were barely noted by the dinosaur robot. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5
As a member of the 4-Wheel-Drive Brigade, Beachcomber confronted the Insecticons out in the desert, only to be caught in an explosive mine trap and fall into a pit. Working together, Beachcomber and the others combined their Scramble Power and worked their way free of the pit. A concentrated Scrumbuster attack drove off the Decepticons, and the Autobots won the day. {{storylink|Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers issue 3|Fight!
Later, Beachcomber was part of a group who arrived to back up Powerglide, who was defending a dog that had been cruelly experimented on by the Decepticons from being hunted and captured by the Combaticons. He and the other Minibots combined with Powerglide in their vehicle modes thanks to the experimental energies within the dog, and spinning furiously, smashed through Bruticus's chest and out the other side in a flying drill attack.
Wings Universe
In 2010, Beachcomber was stationed at Autobot City. He was led into battle by Jazz as the Autobots came to the rescue of Pyro's forces at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. In the aftermath of the battle, they were exposed to the mutating properties of forestonite, developing new color schemes and abilities. Beachcomber became a real flower-child, taking on an environmentally-friendly green paint scheme and causing plant life to grow wherever he walked. Generation 2: Redux

A couple of years later, he and Inferno compared powers while standing around Autobot City. A Flash Forward, Part 2

Marvel Comics continuity
noteukonly

Beachcomber was a member of Perceptor's resistance cell on Cybertron who disobeyed orders along with most of the cell to help Blaster recover Scrounge from the smelting pool. He actually demonstrated some uncharacteristic strength and gusto, tearing down a laser sentinel tower with his bare hands. The rescue mission failed, but they did recover Scrounge's stolen data, and learned that Optimus Prime and the crew of the Ark were alive and fighting on Earth. The Smelting Pool!

Soon after, Perceptor's crew began a mission to destroy the Space Bridge before the Decepticons on Earth and Cybertron could begin trading resources. Beachcomber used his geological skills to map out a safe path underneath the planet's surface to bomb the underlying support structures of Darkmount, bringing down Straxus's whole fortress. The unit failed to destroy the Space Bridge, however, and were ultimately forced to retreat across the Bridge to Earth. The Bridge to Nowhere!

Beachcomber and his fellows were taken captive by RAAT and their commanding officer, the robot-hater Circuit Breaker, and their heads were mounted on the wall of their headquarters. Aerialbots over America! Circuit Breaker showed footage of their defeat to fellow RAAT operative Walter Barnett. Meanwhile, Skids and the shifty human Donny Finkleberg were sent on a mission to determine their whereabouts, but Finkleberg sold out Skids to RAAT as well. Heavy Traffic! Ultimately, Finkleberg redeemed himself by forcing the captured Autobots' release as part of a deal. If the combined bodies of Beachcomber and the other captives could successfully aid in the defeat of the vandalizing Battlechargers, they would be set free. And so it was. Beachcomber and the others headed home, directed by Skids, when the time-traveling Galvatron took their guide's place. Galvatron tore his way through the group, one by one, with Beachcomber one of his casualties. Resurrection!

Beachcomber managed to avoid virtually all kinds of fighting for the rest of his time on Earth, doing nothing more strenuous than getting shot at by the Ark's own defense systems. Funeral for a Friend! While he did champion Blaster for replacing Grimlock as the Autobots' commander, this didn't stop Beachcomber from whining about senseless violence throughout their duel on the moon. Luckily, a Decepticon strike force arrived to drown out his voice with some lasers and explosives. Totaled!

When the Autobots rescued Buster Witwicky from the Arctic and were ambushed by the Decepticons, Beachcomber was among the first to be attacked, set upon and mauled by Mindwipe. Dark Star

Presumably, this rendered him non-functional, as Beachcomber was last seen laying deactivated aboard The Ark as Ratchet attempted to repair him. Deathbringer (issue)
Marvel UK future timelines
When the Quintessons raided Autobot City in 2008, Beachcomber and Air Raid rushed to defend their home with a team of fellow Autobots. Unfortunately, the Quintesson shock troops were too much for them, and quickly overran the defenders. Beachcomber and his Aerialbot buddy made a run for back-up, but were jumped from behind and taken out with the rest. Space Pirates!
The Battle for Planet Earth
Beachcomber, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Windcharger maintained a 24-hour watch on the Decepticon hideout by taking turns. Beachcomber was once almost discovered by Skywarp, but simply remaining quiet and still was enough to fool the Decepticon, who was a noted idiot. Menace at the Dam

Find Your Fate Junior
Beachcomber had to find a path to the surface from the cave system the Autobots were trapped in. He explored the system of underground lakes, marveling at the many strange things that lived there. While recharging the Sun-Pak on the surface, he was attacked by Kickback, and had to be saved by Sparkplug. How humiliating.

In the only 'unsuccessful' ending to this multipath adventure, Beachcomber became lost when his magnetic sensors erroneously led him directly to Megatron. He did not regret this error for long. Attack of the Insecticons

Beachcomber discovered Rumble practicing his earthquakes near a concealed base and learned of a Decepticon plan to destroy nearby Center City.

Optimus Prime decided that such grave news required a pinpoint response with utmost secrecy... so he sent the recklessly impulsive Windcharger, the bombastic Powerglide, and Beachcomber to babysit the other two. Earthquake (book)
Beachcomber was spurred into action against Shockwave's regime on Cybertron when Optimus Prime returned to the planet and rallied the Autobots into action. His actual contribution to the insurrection is undocumented, but it's entirely possible he may have even picked up a weapon. Really. Countdown to Extinction (issue)

Afterwards, Beachcomber was assigned to a mission suitable for his pacifism, as part of Bumblebee's supply crew on the Orion, bringing news and fuel to their comrades on Earth. Night of the Combaticons Little did they know they would be caught up in heavy combat with Sunstorm. Beachcomber was supposed to be guarding Sunstorm's primary target, the Decepticon Starscream, in an Alaskan bunker. Now, of course, the question isn't whether Starscream betrayed them at the first opportunity; It's whether Beachcomber even bothered to pick up his gun and try to stop Starscream, or just passively let the 'Con gun him down. The Omega Effect

Four million years ago, Beachcomber was present at a victory celebration after the Autobots halted a major Decepticon energon convoy. The Iron Age

Later, Beachcomber was captured by Soundwave, who used Bombshell to inject him with a cerebro-shell. Under its control, Beachcomber attempted on three occasions to assassinate Blaster. Ultimately, Blaster confronted him about it and forced him to fight against his Decepticon control. Though his mental resistance shorted out the shell, his neural processors were severely damaged as well. Spotlight: Blaster

After eventually recovering, Beachcomber ended up among the Autobot forces on Earth. When Ultra Magnus visited to investigate Optimus Prime's surrender, Beachcomber feared that they might all get arrested, and decided to leave the team. Alongside Blurr, Hoist and Tracks, he attempted to find and join Hot Rod, who was trying to get off the planet, only to drive straight into a Skywatch ambush. Beachcomber was the first to be deactivated when a human named Campolongo zapped him using a hi-tech suit. The captured Autobots were brought into the hangar where Optimus Prime was imprisoned by Major Witwicky in an attempt to get the Autobot leader to cooperate. Things Fall Apart, Part 2: "A Rude Awakening"

After Bumblebee became Autobot leader and formed an alliance with Skywatch, Beachcomber was freed. He would later completely ignore Bumblebee's leadership once Rodimus returned from space with the Matrix and demanded to see Optimus Prime. Beachcomber was also amongst those (meaning everyone) who volunteered to return to a restored Cybertron and fight Galvatron's army. Space Opera—Final Tableaux: Orphans of the Helix Upon arriving, he transformed and rolled out alongside the other Autobots. Chaos Part Two: Numbers
Notes
* A robot with a color scheme approximating Beachcomber's could be seen ahead of Spike Witwicky in line for Unicron's smelting pool in The Transformers: The Movie. Being ahead of Spike means he would have been destroyed before Daniel shot down the lid, and he wasn't seen afterwards in the escape from Unicron. But, while "Five Faces of Darkness" is well known for its errors, Beachcomber's presence in those episodes means it probably was not him inside Unicron.
* Beachcomber's character model shows up during a flashback in the Armada episode, "Prehistory".
