:Swoop's toy transforms into a robotic Pteranodon. Swoop can stand on his beast feet or lie on his stomach in this mode, but additionally has fold-out wheels located in his feet and chest (though one has to split his chest open to access the latter wheel). His beak and tail were rounded for safety reasons compared to the original Diaclone release. However, the remolding of the tail kept the tail sticker from fitting correctly. Interestingly, despite being a former Diaclone toy, Swoop is the only Dinobot not to have an obvious cockpit for a Diaclone driver figure.

:Swoop's die-cast metal chest is painted red, which is his Transformers color, as opposed to his cartoon color scheme which was based on the Diaclone toy. Along with his sword, he also comes with two spring-loaded missile launchers, the only Dinobot to have two projectile-launchers (and no non-firing gun to boot.)

:Swoop is notable for being one of the most fragile Generation 1 toys, and as such commands a respectable amount of money on the secondary market due to the difficulty in finding one intact.

:In Japan, Swoop and the other Dinobots were offered as mail-away items during Operation Combination. Swoop cost 1800 yen (his original retail price, less than the other four) and two Robot Points.
Albitron and Swoop, redecoes of the original Beast Wars Megatron and Terrorsaur respectively, would have been available singly as well as in a two-pack.

:However, Men in Black solicited the toys before they had gotten approval for them from Hasbro, which reportedly led Hasbro to turn down the proposal. Nonetheless, the basic Terrorsaur mold was to eventually be recolored in "Dinobot" colors as Terranotron (and Swoop!) several years later.
His jointing allows him to stand on his hind-feet as well as assume a normal "flying" position; while his beast mode feet are misassembled (they're flipped upside-down) this does not significantly impede his ability to stand. This misassembly was corrected on some later releases of the mold.

: He was only available in the Dinobot Mini-Con Team set with Knockdown and Terrorsaur.

:There are numerous paint operation differences between the hand-painted prototype of Swoop depicted in the stock photos on the back of the Dinobot Team's packaging and the final product. One possibility is that since the Classics Mini-Cons were originally intended to be released in two-packs (as part of the Cybertron line) rather than three-packs, the number of available paint operations (which are carefully monitored) per piece was larger in the two-pack arrangement, necessitating some omissions for the three-pack release.
: Part of a "Team Pack" with Bumblebee, "Strafe" is a non-transforming action figure with ratchet-joints, about five inches tall... but with an impressive near-18-inch wingspan. His pterosaur form takes many design cues from the Age of Extinction Strafe, but with only one noggin and a definite "Generation 1"-inspired color scheme so yeah. He has multiple peg-holes all over that can be used to mount any Hero Mashers accessory.

: He is designed with a removable head, wing-tips, and legs (fewer removable parts than any other Hero Mashers Transformers figure; all of the others had at least one set of limbs made of two removable parts each), all of which use the same clip-peg/hole joint. This means his pieces can be swapped around in any order, as well as swapped with any other Hero Mashers figure... which includes figures from Marvel Comics, Star Wars, and Jurassic World, meaning you can make some pretty freaky combinations.
He also features ports in his feet that allow him to peg onto a wide variety of Titans Return figures. :Like all other Power of the Primes Deluxe Class figures, he comes with Prime Armor that has a place for a Prime Master, Enigma, or Matrix core, and can transform into a hand for a combiner. He also comes with a piece that can fill the gap in the chest armor or be held as a gun. Swoop's instructions don't explain how to connect the armor to his chest; both "thumbs" must be folded inward so that the tabs on them can peg into holes on either side of Swoop's Pteranodon head. Also not mentioned is the fact that the armor can be worn on his back in robot mode by pegging into holes on his wings.

:Swoop suffers from a number of design flaws. The cradle used to connect his head to his body is improperly molded, and as such does not reliably tab into the top of his body for either robot or dino mode so much as it does sit atop it. Some buyers report their Swoops do not suffer from this issue, but the overall response indicates this is the exception more than the norm. Many Swoops also have drooping beaks in any mode other than Dino mode. In arm mode, the tabs on his shoulders are too thick to fit in the slots inside his wings, meaning they'll come apart pretty often. The robot legs also have a tendency to split in arm mode with little effort.

:Though stock renders of Swoop (including the box art) depict him with a red torso and a clear beak lacking any gold paint, more akin to the original Generation 1 figure, the final toy was changed to have a blue torso and gold paint inside the beak, based on his appearance in the Generation 1 cartoon.

:In China, he was also released along with the other 4 Dinobots as a gift-set, exclusive to Hasbro China's TianMao site.

:Individual reports indicate this release of the mold suffers from extremely loose joints, which causes the most amount of complications when used as a combiner arm. Due to matching the original's color for color, the lower half of Red Swoop can be swapped out with the lower half of the original Swoop for tighter joints.
:Part of the third wave of Legacy: Evolution Core Class toys, Dinobot Swoop is a miniature rendition of the character turning into an (admittedly adorable) Pteranodon. Whoever made Swoop's animation model used this Diaclone toy as a reference, as the Dinobot sports the pre-Transformer's blue chest, and gold lower beak, missiles, and dino feet. Swoop's box art has the Transformer toy's red chest, but keeps the gold parts from the Diaclone toy.
Volcanicus is the fearsome combination of the Dinobots that was 65 million years in the making, and is now ready to deliver the Decepticons a world of pain. Considering the Dinobots' reputations as brainless brutes, Volcanicus is similarly a mindless beast as a result, but given how it hasn't stopped the Dinobots before, it's not much of a problem.
The Dinobots aided the humans against the Cybertron Alliance and Selectors because of their loyalty to Carly. The Technobots were also loyal to their father, Grimlock, and merged with him as a variant of Volcanicus called Volcaticon. The Quintessons intervened on the battle with anti-Transformer gas, and so Volcaticon deconstructed so that Grimlock could reform Volcanicus with the Dinobots while the Technobots assembled separately as Computron. Volcanicus comic 2

Volcanicus and Computron soon realized they were at a disadvantage against the arriving Terrorcons, though. Computron had restored Grimlock's super-intelligence when they merged as Volcaticon, and now lacked the accumulated knowledge necessary to feed his analytics. Meanwhile, the hyper-intelligent Grimlock inside Volcanicus lost his animal ferocity in this "improved" state. Abominus comic 1 Given a reprieve, Computron reabsorbed his intelligence from Volcanicus before engaging the Terrorcons' combiner, Abominus, but to no avail. Megatron infused himself with Angolmois Energy to counter Abominus, only to be driven out of control himself. Volcanicus used the Angolmois in his Magma Blade to deflect the reformatted Megatron Omega's attack, teaming up with Abominus against him. Volcanicus and Abominus could not prevail, but soon a wormhole opened in space, drawing the Primitive warriors back into the past. Abominus comic 2

Volcanicus and the Dinobots were used as pawns by Primus, knowing they could be easily directed against their old enemy and his rival, Primacron. Grimlock assembled Volcanicus to fight Neo Primus, the transformed Blue Planet and the first planet-sized robot Primacron created. Generations Selects Special Comic Finale Part 1 Even Volcanicus could not defeat a planet alone, but Hun-Gurrr and the Terrorcons had followed through the wormhole and chowed down on the Angolmois inside the Blue Planet. Hun-Gurr caught the Magma Blade when Volcanicus was disarmed and charged it with the energy inside him, returning it as the Angolmois Blade. This sword was powerful enough to disrupt Neo Primus, converting it back into the Blue Planet. Generations Selects Special Comic Finale Part 2
After Snarl returned from Nebulos and retrieved the plans for the Quintesson Hive Matrix, he stated that the Dinobots would soon be one. Transformers: Earth Wars

Grimlock wanted to form his combined form almost immediately, so he got help from Jetfire to open the Enigma vault and got his hands on the Enigma. But Swoop noticed a cerebro-shell in the back of Jetfire's head! Trying to form Volcanicus, Grimlock ordered the Dinobots to combine, but nothing happened. As it turned out, the Dinobots didn't know how to work the Enigma. Soon, Bruticus and Superion arrived on the scene, and the two duked it out while Grimlock desperately tried to figure out how to use the Enigma.

Learning of the Dinobots' actions, Optimus activated the Enigma, creating Volcanicus and Predaking in the process! Springer retrieved the Enigma, but the Dinobots and Predacons had unfinished business, so they settled on finishing the score later, in their new combined forms.
The Power of the Primes toy does not include this sword, whereas the Generations Selects toy includes two.
*The Earth Wars design, the NYCC 2017 prototype, the packaging art, and the Power of the Primes cartoon depict Volcanicus with Sludge's head facing down, but the instructions show his head pointing upwards. Similarly, Slug's head points outwards in Earth Wars and the packaging art, but upwards in the cartoon and on the toy itself.
*Back in 1990, four of the original five Dinobot designs served as the templates for the "Geisters", recurring villainous henchmen on the Takara/Sunrise co-production Brave Exkaiser. In what might be called a vision of things to come, the four were once briefly fused into a single robot called "Mad Geister" (マッドガイスター Maddo Gaisutā). However, because each Geister controlled a portion of the combined body—and they had the accumulated brain power of a Froot Loop—this ended rather badly for them. In a more successful (if not also prescient) later development, the Geisters learned to merge in groups of two, with Ptera Geist and Thunder Geist forming the centaur-esque "Pteder" (プテダー Putedā) and Horn Geist and Armor Geist forming "Hormor" (ホーマー Hōmā).
While on a mission to search for subterranean terrorist bases beneath the Toraxxis Plains, the Dynobots encountered powerful monsters dwelling in the caverns, creatures that almost wiped them out. In a desperate bid to survive, Skar used his research to scan the creatures and adapt his team into new alt-modes based on them, granting them the strength they needed to fight back. Unfortunately, the process also caused the Dynobots' minds to deteriorate into those of beasts, and Skar was killed by his own leader and best friend, Grimlock, during their rampage. His death caused the other Dynobots to be overcome with grief and factored into their desertion from the Primal Vanguard, and Grimlock would always feel guilty for what he had done. Underworld (IDW) Massacre
Transformers (2007)
Legends Class toys
*Autobot Ratchet (Legends Class, 2007)
**Japanese name: EZ Collection Ratchet
:An inexpensive, small-scale version of Transformers "Autobot Ratchet," he remains relatively faithful to his vehicle mode (though highly simplified), but transforms very differently due to his simplicity. In robot mode, he has a faux truck-front chest that's more faithful to the CGI design than the Voyager toy's chest, but the rest of his robot mode is (understandably) inaccurate and limited in articulation.

:His spare tire, mounted on the rear end of his roof in vehicle mode, is actually a free-spinning wheel just like the normal four (albeit with a somewhat stiffer joint), and the same size as the front wheels... meaning that, in theory, it could be used as an actual spare tire.

:The original production run of the toy sported a significantly wrong shade of green. A running change variant that quickly replaced the original version corrected the error, now sporting the same shade of green as the Voyager Class toy. Still, the color variant was not limited to the US market, as both versions also popped up in Europe. The re-released toy for the blind-packed EZ Collection lineup, however, got stuck with the original, off-color version.
:Released as part of the AllSpark Battles refresh of the Movie toyline, Legends class Rescue Ratchet is, naturally, a redeco of the previously-released Legends class Ratchet in his white Generation 1-inspired colors. He comes packed with an all-new sculpt Legends class Brawl.
Voyager Class toys
*Autobot Ratchet (Voyager Class, 2007)
**Japanese ID number: MA-02
**Accessories: Roof rack/claw
:Transformers Voyager Class Ratchet transforms into a AM General Hummer H2, customised as a fire search and rescue vehicle. Ratchet is also missing significant amounts of paint applications, with unpainted wheels, emergency tools, and light details, as well as an underpainted face, resulting in a rather monochromatic toy.

:During transformation, unfolding his legs will activate his Automorphing feature, which folds out his kneepads and feet, and 'bulges' out two small panels along his inner calves. The only Autobot toy to not feature a ranged weapon, Ratchet's right forearm unfolds into an axe (based upon a weapon concept study), and the removable rollbar/roof rack can either be mounted on his left arm as a shield/claw, or stored on his back. Flipping out the axe without unfolding the blade, however, does make the weapon vaguely resemble a green version of the machine gun he uses in the movie.

:Oddly, although Ratchet's thumbs are articulated, space is so restricted that they are all but useless. His left thumb can only move a millimeter due to his wrist armor getting in the way. His right thumb does have more space to move, but pushing it will invariably disengage the fold-out axe from his forearm.

:Ratchet can (loosely) attach a Mini-Con on the rollbar/roof rack, and can hold a standard weapon via the shield/claw mount.
:Transformers "Rescue Ratchet," is an extensive redeco based in part upon Generation 1 Ratchet's Marvel Comics appearance. Aside from the deco and name change, the toy is otherwise the same in functionality to the previous Voyager class release.

:Oddly for a deco described as being more likely for the type of vehicle, Rescue Ratchet's vehicle mode—a fire search and rescue vehicle—is prominently labeled "AMBULANCE" on the doors and the hood.

:This same deco was adapted and used as an alternate for Ratchet in the multiplayer mode for the Revenge of the Fallen game.
Ratchet's main plastic has been changed to a metallic yellow, with an additional coat of metallic yellow paint over the top of those parts (and others), resulting in a much more accurate color scheme in relation to the actual Movie character and prop vehicle.

:Ratchet was presented in robot mode, within a special display package similar in shape to the packaging for the Hasbro release of Generation 1 Masterpiece Starscream. :Transformers Fast Action Battlers "Axe Attack Autobot Ratchet," is a small, deluxe-sized figure with limited articulation and a simple transformation. He features a spring-loaded missile-firing axe, a "robot punch" gimmick, and automorphing. To activate the "robot punch", one must twist and release Ratchet's torso. An inner spring will cause it to snap back to (more or less) anatomical position. His front grille can be rotated 180 degrees, which powers the automorphing feature, and causes Ratchet's front fenders, doors, and roof to separate during transformation from vehicle to robot and form his shoulders and arms (and vice versa). Unfortunately, this sacrifices show accuracy, as the grille ends up right-side up, while the rest of his alt mode cab remains upside-down.

Deluxe Class toys
*Autobot Ratchet (Deluxe Class, 2009/2010)
**Japanese ID number: RA-28
**Accessories: EMP Blaster/Energon Multi-Beam Gun, EMP Blast Missile
:Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe Class Ratchet is an all-new mold that is more accurate to Ratchet's final robot mode design when compared to his Voyager class toys. However, his vehicle mode has been changed to something akin to a military Humvee, albeit in Ratchet's distinctive emergency rescue regalia. This smaller vehicle mode means that his feet end up prominently sticking out from underneath the vehicle.

:He also features a new "launching EMP blast missile"-launcher weapon that resembles the arm-mounted machine gun that Ratchet uses in the films. The missile launcher weapon can also be attached to Deluxe Lockdown, echoing the interactive features of their Animated counterparts' toys. Likewise, Lockdown's engine can plug into Ratchet's rooftop, but that looks kinda doofy.

:Ratchet's Mech Alive feature is unlocked when the missile launcher is plugged into his arm, in which gearing moves pieces into place around the weapon as it's locked into place. His chest also has an Automorph-like rearrangement of his chest-mounted headlights into robot mode configuration as his abdomen is pushed down into place.

:Ratchet's head had the peculiar feature of having two ball joint sockets stacked one atop the other- there was the shallow socket that his head was set at in the package which allowed superior mobility, then a deeper one that limited head movement but concealed his neck joint. The deeper socket could be used by pushing the head down. Sadly, a running change in his design eliminates one of the ball joints, making his head basically unposeable. His redecos would later continue to use this version of the mold.

:Movie Masterpiece Ratchet is a brand new mold, based on his appearance in the first two live action films. The toy includes a much greater amount of articulation (totaling to over 50) and accuracy than his other toys, including individually articulated fingers, ankles, and a moving jaw. The robot transforms into an officially licensed Hummer H2 and includes die-cast parts, as well as several paint applications. He includes his machine gun, freely spinnable buzzsaw, and pair of missile pods, each of which can be plugged in either of his forearms. The figure is set for release in October 2020.

:Originally, a physical figure used for initial stock photos and a stop motion reveal video had the car mode windows, doors and front fenders cast in transcusent blue plastic, which greatly collided with yellow paint used for door and fender parts, resulting in slightly greenish tint colliding with the yellow plastic parts. Later CGI renders and physical stock photos had these parts cast in clear colored plastic, resulting in the paint applications having more cohesive coloring.
Like his EZ Collection Real brethren, Ratchet comes with two different variants: The "Real Color" features a flat shade on the plastic colors and paint, while the "Metallic Color" features metallic paint and plastic instead. Like all land-based vehicles in this line, He features an extra paint applications on the wheels rims, which is only seen in the stock photo compared to the final product, which is left bare due to being molded with unpaintable plastic.
:Cyberverse Ratchet is an entirely new Legion-class mold in white and light green. The new mold makes a few changes to his transformation compared to the Legends version, most notably finally forming his chest from the actual front of his vehicle mode. He has ball-jointed elbows (in a "lifting a dumbbell" orientation), making him one of the slightly more articulated Legion figures. His left hand is a standard-sized clip for holding Cyberverse accessories.
He also comes with a cardboard backdrop display depicting the battle of Mission City. He can also use the gun accessory of the figure below.

:Unfortunately, due to the grill being molded in soft plastic, some of the samples may come with the grills bent.
:A Toys"R"Us-exclusive Generation 1-themed redeco of Legends Devastator and his components. They do, however, have brown paint operations on and around their wheels to simulate dirt.

:Although sold at Leader-class price-point, he is roughly as tall as his Voyager-sized teammates, making up for it with with massive secondary arms (rivaling Mixmaster in width) and a screen-accurate neck armor piece for Devastator's head mode. :Overload can be combined with the rest of the Studio Series Constructicons to form Devastator, becoming the giant's chest, lower torso, thighs and waist, though the transformation leaves the back of his head exposed in combined mode, right in the middle of Devastator's stomach.
Notes
* Like several recent Japanese Transformers toys, TakaraTomy has incorporated Overload's faction with his name in an effort to strengthen his trademark. Hasbro, however, has not had such problems to date with the name Overload in their markets.
* Being the seventh Constructicon, Overload technically hasn't got a G1 counterpart, but he is a (albeit articulated) dump truck that forms Devastator's lower torso.
* One of Ben Procter's concept art studies for Overload's robot mode is a monstrous—and awesome—four-armed quadruped with claws and hooks up the ying-yang. There is concept art for bipedal variants of his quadruped design, from which his toy and comic depictions appear to have taken inspiration. It might have been for the best, as the four legs would be a nightmare to engineer in toy form.
* His robot mode is shown—obscured, but it's there—in the comic adaptation.
